People really out here writing charles as a timid shy little angel of a kid when he really was a chaos gremlin that didn’t know braking was an option and pushed people off the track
Baby Charles’ face: 👼😇🪽✨🥹💗
Baby Charles’ personality: 👹😈😼😡💀🔥

the main thing I’ve gathered from the Pacific Rim director’s commentary is that, even though a lot more of PacRim was done with CGI than I had realized, it still holds up almost 10 years later because of how intentional Guillermo Del Toro was with building in details, flaws, weathering and environmental factors, and, primarily, love and respect into every single model.
He helped animate every single creature and robot by hand on his tablet, he praised the animators for every single shot and talks about how brilliant they are, how hard they worked on every detail, he treats all of them like human beings, like geniuses, just as integral to the film as himself and the actors. The animators themselves talk about how intentional and detailed his ideas were, how helpful and insightful he was when he spoke to them about changes, when he came to them with new ideas.
There’s also a hell of a lot of practical effects woven in, which add to the believability, but the CGI holds up first and foremost because he saw it as an art form to be cultivated and loved just as fiercely as everything else, not a ‘wow’ effect to be slapped in for budget cuts.

tbh im normally an "i wanna see my blorbos Win™" type of guy but the grian dmv-slash-permit-office arc has pulled out such unanticipated levels of "i want that twink OBLITERATED" within me that ive transformed into the emotional equivalent of wile e. coyote every time i watch him. like i need to see him outsmarted guys. hes so fucking smug in his videos that the urge to start ordering ACME-brand Contraptions™ and chase him around with them is haunting my dreams. joel taking out his sword for a crit when grian put him on hold was so satisfying i almost passed out from the headrush. never have i ever wanted comeuppance in my favorite blorbos SO FUCKING BADLY i hope he keeps doing this bit forever and gets bonked over the head with hammers for it every single time

A character looks straight into the camera and says "I'm not interested in romance" and people will still say "No, it's not confirmed they're aromantic!!!" "They could change their mind!!!" "it's a challenge for them to overcome!!!" "They'll have character development that makes them fall in love"
It's like they are given the most blatant answer to a character romantic orientation and they actively ignore it. all the while all it takes is subtext for people to speak as if it is fact for a character to be any other sexuality.

somewhat not very fond of those descriptions of bisexuality that are like "we fall in love with a PERSON not a gender" or "we fall in love with personalities not bodies" because i'm like...no i do love people for their bodies and their genders.. just a wide variety of them. there is very much physical attraction at play

Ik halsin was a last minute addition but I kinda wish he had a full romance route ngl. Like. He's not normally my type of man but I am not immune to his treetrunk arms, kindhearted gentle trustworthiness, and stupid whittling of wooden ducks. The old worn sadness in his eyes. The burden of unwanted leadership. The hundreds of years of work to correct a past percieved mistake. The unending compassion for literally everyone, but esp children & the tiefling refugees. The wanderer and free spirit who, without giving up his freedom, finally finds a purpose, a reason to stop wandering, a devoted goal for his heart. He's SAFE and KIND and I like that in a man.
