Cyril was invited on a French podcast about motorsports. It's almost 2 hours long but he shares a lot about the RBR/Renault negociations and contracts throughout the years, as well as crash gate or how the teams reacted to Liberty Media buying F1. I am halfway through and he hasn't spoken about Daniel yet but it is really worth a listen if you speak french!

He mentions for example how during the 2015 season, Horner and Marko thought they were going to get Mercedes engines (because of a lunch they had with some Mercedes people) and wanted to terminate their deal with Renault. I just can't imagine what Daniel's 2016 season would've been if they had actually had the Mercedes PU.

I'll write down the main points about Daniel once I've finished listening to the episode.

The Hexsquad in Nightmares

I read this fanfic where Amity was put in the Nightmare instead of Luz, so I got to thinking...what would be the the rest of the Hexsquad in nightmares? Let's take a look at this:

For Luz:

Amity tells her she's just like Belos and basically helped him win, Willow says she has no future now, Gus says because of her he'll never see his dad again, and hunter says Flapjack is gone because of her.

Amity says 'Witches battle' and that's where Luz is clued in.

For Amity (in the fanfic):

Willow comments on how Amity abandoned her, Gus mentions how he's constantly overlooked or lumped in with other people, Hunter comments on how they're a lot alike but he had it worse and she didn't care about the consequences for him, and Luz says because of her she became a villain like Belos, like she used to be.

Luz says 'Pictoglyphs' which cues Amity in.

Now how about the rest;

For Willow:

Amity or Luz would be first, Amity would say she was abandoned because she was weak and her parents were right because she's still weak, Luz would say she only helped her and called her strong because she pitied her, Gus would be second and say if she was a better friend they wouldn't suffer in the first place like what happened in Labyrinth runners and then he then hints at Hunter, 'Neither would him.' Hunter would mention how close they've gotten, but then he'd mention that if she was a better friend then she would have gone all out to save Flapjack, she would have noticed something was wrong with him before it was too late, but she didn't do enough.

She'd be cued in by Hunter saying she did 'everything' wrong. Hunter told her recently that she didn't do anything wrong.

For Gus:

Willow would be first, she'd comment on how he was so wrapped up in his own problems he didn't notice anything was wrong with her. Luz would be next, she'd mention that she taught him the fire glyph because she knew how powerless he actually was. Amity would follow, she would say he's not really her friend because he's practically nonexistent, everyone else in their group is more substantial than him, makes more of a difference. She would then hint to Hunter saying 'He'd know more than anymore.' Hunter would point out how Gus knew Hunter was a Grimwalker, and Hunter was obviously struggling with that info, who his original was, if he was good or not, but Gus knew the whole time and said nothing. It would have made him feel a lot better, he wouldn't have wanted to prove himself by going on his own, someone could have noticed before it was too late, heck if Gus did more than make Belos mad, Flapjack might still be alive. Everyone would show up then, berating Gus for being weak.

Willow would be the one to cue him in, I'm not sure what she'd said but I'm pretty sure it'd be her. This would show some growth because he didn't recognize it was fake last time, he'd say 'I'm not being fooled a second time, you're not her. None of you are you."

For Hunter:

Willow would probably be first, commenting on how his original was a witch hunter, Belos' number 2, that's his destiny so he'll always hurt others, even her, for added points he'd be in his Golden Guard garb. Next would be Amity, she'd point out she reached out a hand to him at eclipse because they were similar, but instead of being good he just chose to run back to Belos, he chose to be the bad guy, so why should they ever give him a chance. For Gus, he'd point out Chief Engineer O'Bailey is a fictional character, his immediate goal was to turn on Captain Avery, and because it's fiction Captain Avery showed him the light, Gus questions if he was ever really their friend, did he ever see himself as one of them. Hunter would retort, 'Of course, I'd never hurt anyone." Gus would say, "Oh really, then what about them?" Hunter would be shifted to see Luz. She'd talk about how she was there when he dragged her into the mess with Belos. She thought he was like family, but he dragged her away from the group to confront Belos alone with no magic, not considering what could have happened. Sure he had a palisman, Flapjack, but look where that got him. He knew Belos liked killing palisman and had a grudge, but he still brought them alone. If he pushed back sooner, Flapjack wouldn't have died. Hunter would start crying then, saying that he knows. The whole group would show up, Willow would say he's the golden guard, he hurts people, it's what he does, it's what he was made to be, and he's not one of them and never will be.

Hunter will remember that Willow told him that it didn't matter who he was because he was one of them now, and Willow is too kind to lie about something like that. He knows Willow and this isn't her, none of them are them.

Lord Vortech was originally planned to be a playable character in Year 3 had it not been cancelled. In fact, Gary Oldman (the voice of the character) even recorded some dialogue for how he would interact with certain characters.

bless the broken crossroads (X Drake)

oc, mostly gen but things can be read into, spoilers for Wano word count: 1k

Through small cracks and openings in torn window fixtures, light makes its way in, illuminating the man splayed out in the middle of a former battlefield. Fresh enough for blood to still run, but mingling with the dust and debris, the ancient smell of rot lurked just beneath.

He could see his compatriot just barely breathing against the pillar across him, though with how much blood he'd lost Drake wasn't sure how much longer he still had left.

Another figure emerged from the shadows, heavy boots clicking against what bits of wood were still safe to walk on. It seemed like the castle itself was beginning to decay without it's master, dragged down by the weight of it's once untouchable inhabitants' innumerable sins, basking in their shows of power and gross excess.

It also held prisoner to a boy who's only dream was to be as free as the man whose journal he cherished with as much reverence his tiny body could hold.

"You," Drake rasped, unable to keep his eyes focused but recognizing the familiar scent what little wind carried in thanks to his Zoan abilities, "why do you insist on helping me?"

"Not helping, jus' passin' by."

The figure finally revealed himself at Drake's side—though it could just be the delirium of being so close to death's door, he could've sworn the glare behind that man's head was a halo—Kirin folded up the coat he walked in here with into a makeshift pillow and Drake was too tired to argue when it was slid under his head.

His wounds were cleaned and dressed, mirroring the bandages on his younger counterpart - Drake could only imagine the beating he'd gotten from facing Kaido head-on, even if not for the entire battle, and there was just about enough water left in the bottle Kirin brought in to wipe the dried, crusted blood from his face. It wasn't much, but it was refreshing, being tended to in a way so gentle he almost forgot what that felt like.

As he was sat up to have his upper torso bandaged, Drake's curiosity got the better of him, "You still haven't answered my question, Denkui. Why do you help me even now?"

Kirin laughed, of all things - it was a quiet, mournful noise echoing through the hallowed halls of Onigashima's formerly impenetrable fortress. It almost sounded sad, in a way, but he just chalked it up to the lack of oxygen being carried to his brain.

"I haven't been called that since the early days of my crew, Rear-Admiral Diez."

It was Drake's turn to frown, "I could say the same, that's my father's name," there was a moment of silence between them, of understood experiences without words - the marine broke it with another nudge, "your answer?"

"Touché," Kirin sighed.

"I dunno, Drake, I don't have one," he stood to pat the dust from his pants, leaving what little medical supplies he brought with the other man as Drake shifted to rest his back on the wall beside them, "I didn't see a lick of ya' in the city and it made me itch to think about you dying alone in a musty dungeon.

We go back quite a bit, you know. As enemies yeah but isn't the familiarity reason enough?"

Drake was choosing to ignore the implications and what it meant that a supposed enemy was thinking about his well-being long after the battle had been won, the meaning of 'I don't want you to die' between people like them, that was something for him to lock away for a long, long time once they'd left Wano behind.

What did bring a small smile to his face, however, was Kirin's inability to be forthcoming about his feelings. Out of all the things he'd heard about the man over the years through the grapevine, this one thing seemed to be consistent.

"Small blessings, huh." Drake allowed himself to slump as the tension in his shoulders deflated. His vision drifted to the crumpled form parallel to them both, lifting his arm with what remaining strength he had to tug at Kirin's pants.

"Can you grant him the same grace? I'll be fine but, I don't want him to die in a place like this."

The dismay on Kirin's face was evident, having faced off against Hawkins with every intent to kill just a handful of days prior, but he couldn't ignore the waver in Drake's voice.

"You don't have treat him, just let him pass in peace. Please."

Kirin didn't know the nature of the relationship between these two, whether if it was something deeper, reminiscent of the unbridled fury he'd felt once he heard of Law's and the Hearts' capture and torture at Basil's hands, or if it really just on a whim that Drake wanted to spare his fellow pirate captain a kinder resting place.

That wasn't his place to say.

Throwing the arm Hawkins still had over his shoulder with probably less care than he should have, Kirin walked the supernova out into back entrance of the castle. White fabric previously maintained to an immaculate degree was soiled in reds and browns like the snow beneath them as he walked, practically having to drag the other man's feet.

His breathing was far too shallow, Hawkins' complexion looked even more deathly than usual, but Kirin could still feel presence from this body, so he wasn't fully in the reaper's grasp yet, he supposed.

Kirin was a little more mindful setting him down, though he didn't hide the displeased expression he was undoubtedly making while this man died. Instinctively patting himself down for a cigarette and lighter that wasn't there, that hadn't been on his person in years.

A ghost of a person moved through him, someone he hadn't seen in the mirror for a long time.

Turning on his heel, Kirin left. For the boat that would take him back to his nakama on the mainland. For Basil's corpse to be covered by gentle snowfall or for him to miraculously claw life back into himself. In either case,

Thoughts on TOH Finale

What I loved and what I disagreed with, because yeah, it wasn't perfect.

What's start with what I loved:

The animation was great, free flowing and felt like an anime, especially with Luz's power-up and the epilogue scene.

Everything was concluded nicely for the most part.

I loved the symbolism of Belos' death, all the people he had hurt and tried to possess and control represented by three people, while Luz, the person he tried to connect to based on their own humanity, rejects him. His own humanity has rejected him, while he's stomped to death by the implied descendant of Caleb, someone who thought for everyone in the isles and the Clawthorne's lover, and a titan. He's also melted by the boiling rain, in the end killed by the place he hated with a passion.

I love how powerful Raine is displayed to be, as soon as they wake up from puppetization they are fighting Belos, aware of what's he's doing and trying to stop him. Raine is amazing!

Subtly whilst frustrating has it's moments, for instance, Darius being the one to reunite with Hunter, implying Hunter has a family now on the Boiling Isles. Huntlow also has it's subtle confirmation, like Hunter staying with Willow until she reunites with her family, Willow pulling on his bow tie at Grom, and them consistently holding hands and each other in the epilouge. I just thought that was all so cute.

Now for what I had problems with...

No Caleb. Yeah, I get it...the group didn't need to know about him and Evelyn to deal with Belos. To be fair, I think they know enough (I'll get to that in another post). Yet, after all the build-up we had with Caleb over season 2 and 3 it was a little disappointing that he didn't have any part to play in the finale. It didn't have to be much, maybe as Luz is glaring at Belos, Belos sees Caleb glaring at him as well, maybe Caleb can turn away as Luz does. Maybe Belos can mutter Caleb's name in horror and then maybe turn his attention back to begging to Luz. We didn't need a flashback, we know the story, but it wouldn't hurt to put Caleb in there for a least a couple of seconds. Make Belos realize that not only humanity, anybody who could care about him, doesn't. He's burned every bridge and he's done for.

Hexsquad demotion. This is more of a personal opinion. Yeah I guess they wanted the finale to focus on the main three characters. It would have been nice though, because these five have already been through so much together, that they shared the final battle together. Raine was invloved, they could have involved the others too. Yeah they were exhausted, and what could they do against Belos fungus (You touch it and you die). Well they could have fought with glyphs, like they were doing in the archives. They didn't even need to fight anybody! It would have been beautiful for Amity to see her girlfriend all powerful, you could have added extra trauma by having them know specifically that Luz died. Amity and the others were exhausted, maybe they all would have gotten a surge of power like King and Eda. Yeah, they didn't want to leave the people in the archives, but maybe they could have gone to go save them with the collector. Yes, they didn't wake up for a while because they were puppets, but if Amity could make a glyph who says the others couldn't? Also, how did they know glyphs would undo the collector's magic?

What about Hunter? Someone did a compilation of all his lines in the episode...it's not much. He speaks the most in the dream sequence. I do like that he was the first to smile at Luz when they woke up for a moment, because he knows what Luz can do. However, Zeno's last line (besides "BYYYEEE") was "the collector?" Seriously?! What was the issue, Gus's character was voiced when everyone was reuniting, as was Amity, Willow and Hunter were silent! Maybe give a few lines between him and Darius like, "Nice shirt" "Thanks, I made it myself. These creatures are called wolves..." then start fading off. That could have been a good last line, him being a dork. They didn't give him any lines in the epilogue. Who had lines from the main cast? Camila, Luz, Vee, Eda, Lillith, Amity, Gus, Willow, King...and no Hunter. They could've given him a line in there! Like, Luz says... "You guys didn't have to do this." and Hunter says something along the lines of, "Of course we were going to do this for you, come on, it's you." But nope, nothing. I know Hunter is not a main character, he came in the second season, but like how Eda and Amity are deurtagonists, I'd like to think he is one too. It's not like they ran out of budget so they decided to cut some of Zeno's lines, they several beautiful animation scenes; It's not Zeno didn't want to do it anymore, he loves voicing Hunter. Hunter could've been further traumatized this episode, as they love doing that to him apparently, but didn't even do that except for the dream. It's almost like they like Zeno to pull off an emotional line instead of traumatizing Hunter. Another thing, everyone was exhausted? Hunter wasn't, at least he wouldn't be, he just got his powers! We only see him use them once in this episode. Why reveal he has powers at all if it's not going to be useful later? We could have seen him use them in the archives to save people from debris, or to jump up to catch Emmaline. I guess they wanted to show the entire Hexsquad using glyphs. They didn't even show if he had these powers in the future, like he could have used his flash step to catch up to Willow. Last note on Hunter, if he was there when Belos died, Belos could have tried begging to him to save him and calling him Caleb, Hunter could turn away from him and tell him that's not who he is. That would be a good conclusion to his arc and a good final line, that is if the Hexsquad went to meet up with Luz when the battle was over. Willow could've comforted him afterwards because it would still be hard for him to deal with. Then they could go meet up with their families. Speaking of, why didn't they all show up at the owl house with Amity and Camilla, they must've all been worried about Luz.

Huntlow? Again, a personal one. You don't need an "I love you," a "will you go out with me?" or a kiss to be canon. They're affectionate enough already. Still, I would like the antis to be quiet, so it would have been nice if they kissed in the epilogue. Maybe after they slid down the hill a kiss on the cheek, maybe seeing the fireworks a kiss on the mouth. Oh well, it's canon in my mind.

That's my little rant, maybe they would throw in some things I missed in the potential spin-offs. Other than those 4 things it was good.

Danny Phantom is another Nicktoon who hasn't been converted into a Lego character or even got Lego playsets, but like Jimmy Neutron and Jenny, Danny is another character with potential had Year 3 of "Lego Dimensions" not been cancelled. In fact, he would be the first non-Ghostbusters character to capture ghosts. I think he should be able to solve ghost puzzles too if I'm not mistaken (Leave a comment if you know or not).
