Could I have an association list for a dmsp!slimecicle? With gooey/wet textures and caves, if you can!
you sure can! i'm gonna go ahead an interpret this as locations and objects if that's okay!
locations:
the room you're not supposed to be in. there's a lot of these, to be honest, but this one's your favorite.
an empty closet with the light off and the door closed. part of you doesn't want to bw in here, but you know it feels better than being anywhere else right now, it feels better than trying to be something you're not
on top of the kitchen table. you feel superior.
in the corner. you're not here because you have to be, or because you're in trouble, it's just that you have the perfect suprise for your friend and scaring them first sounds fun
in the corner. you're here because you jumpscares your friend and that was the surprise. you're still giggling though.
in your best friends room. it's nothing like how your home is, and you don't love it, but you understand why they do.
objects:
shitty dollar store goopy slime
foam beads
water color paints
a chewy necklace
a friendship bracelet
pop-it stim toys
chapstick
a wetstone
your rock collection. they're not impressive rock, mostly just funny lookin' gravel you found out side
a toy knife.
i hope you enjoyed!

"Old man?"
Time turned to Hyrule.
"Who is your best friend, and why is it Skull Kid?"
It was meant to be a sort of joke with which the healer (with a bit of incentive from Warriors) was trying to combat the absolute boredom at camp, but the older hero actually stopped washing Wild's rock climbing pants and actually thought about it for a while.
"The short answer is that he's wonderful and I love him," he finally answered.
The captain perked up from his wetstone: "And the long answer?"
"It's rather bleak."
Hyrule and Warriors shared a quick glance.
"We can take it," the healer assured Time, "Don't worry, you can talk."
The time-traveler leaned his head slightly.
"While all that I said before is true and important," he started, earning a couple amused huffs, "I think... Aside from him and my wife, any friends I had during in my childhood have been made unreachable by one mean or another. I don't have anything else from the beginning of my life - and Malon, I love her more than anything, but she has had the fortune of never experiencing any of the things I went through. Maybe he and I find some comfort in each other like that, too."
The two other heroes understood immediately what he meant, what state of mind he must have found himself in. They too had found themselves longing for somebody, anybody, who could comprehend just what they had experienced; they would have been lying if the possibility to share their trauma with others who truly understood everything had not in some way helped strengthening the kinship between the nine of them.
"Also I was in love with him." the time-traveler suddenly remembered.
"You WHAT!" Warriors shouted.
Hyrule opted for a quieter, very lost "What?"
"I think I was around ten," Time continued, extremely focused: "We were head over heels for each other. The first time we kissed it took us three tries because at first he almost broke my teeth with his beak and then I nearly poked his eye out with my nose, but we got it."
The captain's jaw had more or less fallen to the ground.
The healer took a moment to asses the information: "You kissed them?"
"Yes."
"You kissed them on the lips?"
"Yes?"
"When you were ten?"
Time looked at the two of them as if falling from the clouds: "That's not a thing kids do?"
"Not most kids!" Warriors replied, "I had my first kiss at seventeen!"
"I don't think I will ever even have one!" Hyrule added.
Time seemed truly surprised.
"I thought it was a universal experience," he just said.
"As a rule of thumb-" Warriors interrupted him "-Let's just say that nothing that ever happened to you can be considered a universal experience."

Behave, Majesty
Tumblr media
There was a reason he was assigned to be the head of your security. He was the fiercest warrior your father could find, which meant you- the heir to the throne and the most wanted marriage match between the three largest kingdoms of the land- would be safe against any reckless nobles who resorted to more desperate means to take your hand by force.
When you met he was still in his full armor, and he held his helmet impatiently in his hand, allowing you to see the mess of pale gold strands of his hair. You descended the stairs leading into the main audience room, the gossamer layers of both your cape and your dress- designed to highlight the generous curves of your body and show off your desirability to potential suitors- a soft rose that complimented the dusky shade of your skin, and made your dark areolas and nipples stand out. It was also thin enough that Bakugou could see the shadow of hair that covered your pussy. You weren't sure if he wanted to fuck you or kill you based on the way he was taking in your official royal attire.
You always felt ridiculous in these outfits, like a show pony, but somehow when it was his gaze taking you in like it was his right- you felt powerful. Desired.
Introductions were long and ornate and boring, and somehow you were relieved by your new head guard's rude interruption-
"Bakugou, your Majesty. Can we skip the formalities? I'm sure the heir to the throne has more interesting things to do." He almost sneered at you, as if he knew most of your life was preparing to be the trophy of the most politically beneficial suitor.
"Yes, I have an appointment with the master of the baths this afternoon in preparation for the suitor ball in a fortnight." You returned evenly, but your narrowed eyes and cuttingly dry tone just made your new guard grin with a sharp fierceness that made your stomach clench.
"I'll keep you safe while you're getting pretty Majesty."
Having Bakugou as a guard was.. interesting. He was always alert and prepared for all threats, and he saved you from many attempted kidnappings. Every time he put you to bed after an attempt he'd stay the night with you, sitting in a chair by the door while he sharpened his knives.
You loved these nights, because you never felt safer than when you called out to him in the low light of the room, only able to see him in his poet shirt because of the candle he used to see his blades and wetstone, and he grunted at you, "I'm here Majesty. I'm not leaving your side. Now go to sleep."
Having Bakugou as a guard meant getting lectured the first moment you're alone.
"My job, Majesty, is to keep you safe. That means you have to behave. You have to obey every order I give, when I give it, because your obedience can mean life or death in a moment of danger. Do you understand?" He was crass and abrasive around others, even your father the King, but when it was just the two of you he was focused and straightforward. Determined. A conquerer, if you'd ever seen one. Whatever he set his mind to he'd accomplish, you were sure. What would it be like to be the focus of such relentless intent?
"Focus, Majesty. I asked you a question." His words were sharp, making you guess he'd called out to you more than once when you were lost in thought. You blushed furiously but nodded, and if your voice shook at least only he was here to witness it.
"Y-yes, I need to behave for you and be obedient to ensure my safety." His eyes seemed darker for a moment, watching the way your tongue swiped over your bottom lip. With a sharp nod he ended the conversation, and retreated to be a protective shadow like he was assigned to be.
Having Bakugou as a guard means through all the would be suitors, the balls, the brunches, luncheons, court audiences, he was by your side. Rolling his eyes when you couldn't at the ridiculous promises suitors made you, and holding his hand while you lean on him to take your painfully ornate shoes off for just a moment before your next appointment.
Having Bakugou as a guard means seeing the way he slowly starts to show his respect for the work you do for those in your kingdom you claim your father's infrastructure has failed. He follows you day after day going around the kingdom's orphanages and poor houses, bringing your maids in waiting to carry more baskets of food and blankets and medical supplies. He helped carry the heaviest supplies, his red eyes following you as you sit and talk with the children while your aids distribute the food and blankets (because as much as you'd like to you're not allowed to actually do any of the cooking and preparations yourself as another ridiculous limit because of your royal blood.)
But then your father tells you he's found a suitor, that he's tired of your arguments for not marrying the decent, perfectly acceptable matches he's put forth, and that you're to be married within the year.
Having Bakugou as your guard as a betrothed royal is hell. He sneers more often than not when mentioning anything about "Prince Izuku, the Compassionate" your soon to be husband if your father has his way. And after meeting your betrothed you found he was a perfectly kind man, with an honest heart and a genuine desire to do what was best for his people.
But he didn't make snide jokes with you about the gilded trappings of the upper class that felt like a prison, he didn't sit with you to ward off nightmares of men coming to take you simply because of who you were born to, and he didn't make the vow to keep you safe- willing to lay down his life to make sure you kept your freedom.
Having Bakugou as a guard means finding the most inconspicuous time to have a moment alone to tell him-
"I don't want to marry Prince Izuku." Your handmaids were dismissed for the night, and you had claimed you were fearful of nightmares to get Bakugou to stay the night with you.
You were in your bed, the sheets long since turned into a tangled heap, and you leaned against the ornately carved wood of the bedframe's canopy as you made you declaration.
The nightgown you wore was, like most of your clothes, more gossamer threads than anything substantial. And in the candlelight of your royal bedchamber the champagne fabric made your skin shimmer like bronze. Bakugou's heart clenched at your words and he hoped so brightly for a moment it took a viscous amount of self control to wait, hear everything you had to say.
You stood and walked over to him, barefoot, a vision that was begging to be claimed.
The doors were locked, and no one but the man you wanted was able to see the way you knelt before him- a royal showing such an act of loyalty and submission was unheard of. But Bakugou could see that you were genuine in the way you bowed your head to him for a moment, and the longing in your gaze when you finally looked up at him.
"I want you. You swore to always keep me safe, do so by taking me for yourself. You'd protect me.. and you'd protect any heirs we may be blessed with.." You murmured your reasonings softly, your hands resting on his knees as you spoke. You saw the hardness between his strong thighs and you took a risk that had your face flushing red-
"I'd have to obey you, as my husband. But I always obey you don't I? Give me a command. Let me show you how well I can obey."
Bakugou cupped your cheek and brushed his thumb over your lips, bitten red with your worrying.
"Such sweet lips saying such tempting things. You'd give up the throne to two kingdoms to be tied to a simple knight?" His question was quiet, but the weight of it hung between you two heavily.
"I'd give up everything to be by your side for the rest of my days. I'm not afraid, I'm never afraid because.. I know you'll protect me. That's all I need." You'd thought this through. You were prepared to present your father with an alternative form of union between the two kingdoms, or runaway if need be. You also had a plan, one that was crazy, reckless, desperate. But if there was no other way to make sure you were his.. You too, could be relentless in pursuing what you wanted. Maybe your love for him gave you that drive.
"And you want to give me children?" The way his voice grew rough as he asked it let you know this question affected him just as much as it effected you. Your thighs clenched together, and that heat that always lingered in your belly in his presence seemed to be ignited by the thought of what he was going to say to your reply.
"I want to behave for you as any good royal should, and provide my husband with as many heirs as he desires." You met his eyes seriously, and you didn't when his hand lowered to wrap around your throat. You leaned into his grasp, breathing in sharply when his grip tightened briefly at your blatant trust and submission to him.
"Your father may not allow it." It was as if you scented blood in the water, if he was coming up with reasons you shouldn't it meant he was in favor of it. You would have him, because no one else could ever compare to the brightness of him that exploded in your life and didn't leave a single thing the same.
"If I'm already with child when we present our argument, he won't have a choice but to give you my hand in marriage." You blurted out, your one ace card. The way Bakugou's jaw clenched and his grip on your throat tightened enough that you got light headed made you squirm.
"Are you truly so desperate for me that you'd allow me to put my seed in your belly? Tonight?" All it took was a nod, and he was hauling you into his arms. Your legs went around his waist without hesitation, and he carried you back to your bed.
Stripping you of your close was easy, especially compared to your lover's brute strength- the gossamer silk fabric didn't stand a chance. You were bare before him in moments, and he shouldered his way in between your lush thighs to he could finally get his tongue in your pussy like he'd been dreaming of doing for months.
You were biting your lip and trying to hold in your moans, because you couldn't get caught. Not yet. Not until you were sure his seed had taken root in your womb.
"Not a sound, Majesty. We are not going to be interrupted until you are leaking my seed." The low, growled words made you whimper, and you pushed your hand against your mouth to try to obey him. Because you would always behave for him. Your Knight.

WIP- In the black
Possibly a chapter for In the Black. Huh. Seems nearly fitting to post this today.  A lot of research went into it and I’m still not quite happy with it.
“We should put out the fires.” Augtin urged through the laughter of his squad mates; the sky grew darker. “The D’gaian’s are down hill.” “And? We took the mound. Relax, they aren’t going to attack after that massacre.” Avis smiled as she took a bottle of whiskey from her lapel pocket.  The label slick with blood. She unscrewed the top and took a drink before offering the bottle to Augtin. “We are so exposed!” Augtin pleaded as he took the bottle from Avis and took a deep drink before looking to the five faces that were lit up around the flames. Noe held a photograph in has hands, a picture of lithe human woman holding a new born. The child having the stub of antlers and a mess of golden hair to match his father. Too distracted to think on Augtin’s plea. Nikoil sat next to him sharping his dominion issued dagger with a worn wetstone. He only stopped for a moment to think on Augtin’s words.  Avi’s sat on the other side of the fire going through a tawny leather bag stained in blood, she pulled out a metal tin and became giddy upon opening it and pulled out a pair of H’atian cigars. She passed one to Sargent Benjin who didn’t seem to mind stealing from the dead. He lit the cigar and took a puff from it. Augtin’s gaze fell on Erin. Her expression soft as she listened intently to him. Once she realized his gaze was on her however she tried to look away; yet there was no where to look at.
“Come on Erin, Don’t you think this is a bad idea?” Erin had known he would drag her in for support sooner or later. Normally she would have agreed with Augtin, but after two weeks of pushing through no man’s land they had finally found a place to catch a breath. She was intent on taking that breath. “Pass the whiskey.” She said taking the bottle from Augtin rather than waiting. “You too!” His voice broke. Sargent Benjin let out a chuckle. He sat on the other side of the fire, laying on his side with his head on a D’gaian backpack. He was taking another puff of the cigar. “Relax Private Fisher. Copper and Lapointe are on first watch. They got the best eyes of the section.” He let out a long breath of smoke before continuing, “If you want you can go join them.” “It’s getting dark, and I don’t know about you but I can’t see well down the valley at night.”   “Normally I’d agree with you, but I think we earned some relaxation.” Noe piped in taking the whiskey from Erin, “Besides it’s not like the D’gaian’s can see any better than we can.” “Are you sure? Have you ever asked a hotagami? Bullets barely pierce their shell. What if the reason they build tunnels is because they can see in the dark?”  Augtin voice rose as he spoke. After his last breath He pulled his coat around him tighter and then looked to Benjin, “You sure we found all the tunnels? Those insects are crafty.” Benjin rolled over onto his back and let out a sigh, “Erin and Nikoil say they sealed them all. Then they are all sealed.” It was Devin's turn to laugh as he came walking across the rampart and then dropped into the trench besides Erin and Augtin causing Augtin to leap up from his seat, and swear under his breath. “Erin’s your big bad sister so of course you would believe anything she tells you.” Devin teased as he got comfy between them holding a pack of cigarettes. Their label an oak tree on a white box with the text ‘Oaken Cigarettes’ was nearly black with blood, and wrinkled with creases from being in a pocket for far too long. “Any reason you doubt her?” Benjin said softly. Devin fiddled with the box, his hands shaking from the cold. He whittled out a cigarette and lit it on the scotching fire pit  then took a drag. Perhaps it was the silence that got him to look up and realize all the faces were looking to him. “Naw. Erin’s got a good eye. Nikoil on the other hands a piece of shit.” “Hey!” Nikoil shouted,  tearing his eyes away from the knife he was sharpening.
Noe erupted into laughter. Erin took back the whiskey and nodded her head to Nikoil, “He’s got a point. I’ll take another look around in a minute.”
“Hey!” Nikoil’s brown eyes turned to Erin, his voice dropping in pitch.
“You know I mean well.” Devin answered in her stead.
“Where’s Cornelia?” Avis asked, breaking up the conversation.
“Asleep, She and I are taking second watch.” Devin replied resting his arm’s on the rim of the trench, “I should be sleeping, but you know.”  He let out a deep breath, “It’s a nice night.”
“And what you only sleep on bad nights?” Erin asked as she removed his arm from behind her and pulled her own coat tighter around herself.
The wind had died down from earlier that morning and now the only thing that stirred in the dark was the crackling of the fire pit and the meandering of thick fluffy clouds over the star lit sky, plunging the surround fields into darkness. In the distance small patches of orange light could be seen. Fire pits on both sides of the war. It was a calm night after days of artillery fire and  being on edge. Erin had watched bullets fly through trees and yelled enough through the explosions of artillery shells, this moment of silence was a blessing.  It was comforting to be warm and dry and surrounded by friendly faces.  She couldn't help but feel a pang of sorrow for the faces that weren't here. The ones who had fallen on the journey up the mound. She looked from one mud covered face to another, exhaustion collecting in the bags under their eyes and the content but distant expressions on their faces as they stared at the flames. She had always silently hopped to herself that they may have met under better circumstances perhaps then she would have been able to taste one of George’s apple pies before he too had stepped into the other side.
Devin handed her the box of cigarettes in exchange for the bottle of whiskey.  She took a cigarette and lit it on the campfire. The heat from the cigarette barely noticeable against her cold finger tips. She took a puff from it, holding the smoke in her lungs a moment longer before letting it rasp against her throat as she exhaled. She felt freer after that. Like a weight that had kept her heart in her throat all day had been let free. Devin seemed to sense the tension in the air and tried to make light of the situation. He held the whiskey up and smiled, “How about a toast to keep our spirits high?” Then nudged Augtin in the ribs with his elbow.
“To what?” Augtin shrugged it off and looked into the fire.
“To shooting hott's!” Devin laughed.
“To living free!” Noe added, before kissing the photograph he held and tucking it away in his vest pocket.
“To Finding our way home!” Nikoil staked his knife into the ground, and slid off his helmet revealing a wad of messy mud streaked blond hair.
Sargent Benjin rolled over and stood up holding his cigar over the fire and tapping it to shake off the ashes. He wasn’t a child any more. Long since the war had turned his soft baby face hard, and the twinkle of mischief in his eye to that of determination. Erin often wondered what her parent’s would think of him if they had known he had followed her into the war. “To Private Lee, George and all those who aren't here with us today. May they share our victories and may we see them in days that never come.” Benjin stood tall over the group, delivering his speech like a eulogy. Devin tossed the whiskey at him and Benjin caught it in one hand before he took a long deep drink. Avis, Noe and Nikoil began clapping, and Devin let out a chain of whooping sounds to add to the noise. The bottle of whiskey passed between them and each took a drink before adding to the noise. “To a free humanity.” Avis cheered as she took the whiskey before passing it to Augtin who cradled the bottle reluctantly. “Fine… To a… To a restful night.” Augtin spoke sheepishly, his blue eyes looking into the bottle as if it held all the secrets. Devin patted him on his shoulder urged him, “Say it and make it so!” Augtin took a long sip of the whiskey as if that would give him the courage to demand it. “To a restful night!” Augtin said louder and with more force. His will reverberating with the words. Avis cheered him on, and his face softened at that. He passed the bottle to Erin who had been quiet to this point with little idea on what to possibly toast to. The clapping had turned into stomping on the ground and slapping hands against their thighs. Their will giving the bonfire an energy that had been missing from the marches, a life that had been sapped from the karzian country side since the war started. It was refreshing, a glimmer of hope in the darkest of nights. Would this be how the world would feel once the fighting stopped? Erin hoped it would, and so she added her will to the bonfire, standing up next to her brother, “To a swift end to the war!” She shouted pouring all her will into those words, and downing a big gulp of whiskey. It burned her throat on the way down. Benjin patted his sister on the back and grinned, “I hate this name but you all agreed to it, so to the Shroud!”
Noe got up and pulled his helmet off, the stubs of his antlers poked through still covered in netting to look like branches, “To the Shroud! May we always walk in the shadow of our enemies!”
Avis stood up, “To the shroud, may our enemies always be blind to our advance!”
Nikoil threw a fist into the air, “To the Shroud! May our aim be true!”
“To the Shroud! If our end ever comes may it be swift!” Augtin frowned.
“To the Shroud! Let even the gods of earth and fire fear us!” Devin cheered.
Erin poured what was left of the whiskey into the fire, which erupted into beacon of light crackling with a ferocity she hadn’t been expecting. She pulled back away from the flame. Augtin yelped in fear, but Avis and Devin kept laughing. It took a moment for everyone to relax around the campfire again. Augtin turned his yelp into a laugh, at once feeling at ease. Erin felt like a child again, laughing and screaming in the school yard with out a care in the world. She was close to these people, closer than she had been with kids in school. She wanted the bonfire to last forever to feel this at ease with a group of people like she hadn’t for years. But she knew when they woke in the morning they would still be here on the battle field in the middle of a war that was bigger than all of them. So she would savor Augtin’s laugh, and Avi’s smile, and the serene look Noe had as he spoke of his family back home in Lae Lumas. Devin’s teasing, and her brother’s happiness. At least before the truth would come out that she had never told her parent’s that he had signed up for the war too.
“GAurh!-” Devin cried as he fell back into the trench clutching his shoulder. The laughter died and five faces turned slowly to Devin’s slumped and weeping form. “We’re under attack!” Benjin cried out leaping to grab his rifle from the wall. A ring of another bullet flying just over head. “Erin, Noe shield us!” He ordered. Noe’s voice came out in odd notes, that sounded like the wind and rain yet his will seeped into every sound commanding the patches of grass to grow together into a net and continue to grow slowly forming a barricade around the trench. A spriggan magic, Erin might never be able to fathom. Erin barely had a moment to tie her arcanatom gauntlet on, fumbling she hugged the wall of the trench as Benjin pulled up next to her and started firing blindly into the night. Behind them Avis and Nikoil picked up D’gaian rifles and took up position on the wall but their firing did nothing. The bullets whizzed through the darkness, and the enemy fired back. Augtin put out the fire with a bucket of water plunging them into darkness. The enemies fire becoming more chaotic. “Erin we could really use a wall!” Benjin stated as his rifle fired quick concussive shots into the darkness. “I’m trying!” The clasp was stuck and the gauntlet refused to pull tight enough for the silver in the gauntlet to  touch her skin. Her will barely reacting to the gauntlets presences. A patch of fire erupted nearly ten feet away from them, flushing in enough light for Erin to see where the clasp was stuck and pulled it free. Looking up briefly she could see feet rushing at them from the surrounding tree line on the other side of the mound. “Erin!” Benjin pleaded. She leaped up from the wall of the trench and forced all her will into the gauntlet, feeling her sense of the world expand around her as it did; Suddenly she was aware of the wills of her squad mates, Devin was still sparking  brightly against her’s; he would live. Down the mound she could feel the wills of D’gaian soldiers, at least forty of them rushing up the mound. Doing what she could she made her hand into a fist and focused on the ground in front of them. They needed a wall and so the universe would make it so. She lifted her hands, feeling the will of the soil and rock grind against her’s as it desired only one thing, to stay where it was. Her will was her communication with the rock and soil, it demanded the rock rise and it did. Lifting up from the ground as if the rock had been carved into a slab of stone five feet thick and maybe twenty feet high. Just as the wall came up she felt something pass over her, “Get down!-” She tried to cry out but it was too late for her to catch the thing. She turned to see  the object drop next to her brother, clatter and burst into a flaming bolt of light. Erin didn’t get a chance to fight it, she just felt the white hot searing pain wreck its way across her flesh and sent her flying back into the stone wall before her mind went black.

Cooking. Not Charity II
465There was a twitch in her lower eyelid.
She was almost sure she knew the source.
“That was FUN!”
Yes, the source talked. The main reason of strange bodily reactions, really.
“This is NOT what haggling is supposed to be like!” He was irritating in the most objective kind of ways.
“But you did SO well! The prices dropped and the really did give you the freshest and best ingredients.” It even sounded genuine.
“You can pay them triple after we are done! It’s not how it works!” He even cheered and supported the haggling. What’s the point!
“He does have enough money,” Eric said, taking her coat.
“That’s not the point. Haggling is the basis of market trade!” That this was a bloody mansion really did not help. Either side. It was just annoying.
“I apologise on his behalf, he isn’t… well… no, he is always like that,” he frowned, coming back from the wardrobe, offering her slippers. Fox-shaped ones. Then he shrugged: “I got used to it”
She took the slippers with a heavy sigh, just as the owner of the house walked past with the silver version of them.
“Look. It would have been fine if he paid the original price from the beginning. But no, he waited. He even provoked and haggled himself. Seriously, he could have saved us a lot of time, too” Now there was just irritation.
“It’s one of his least charming attributes, I admit,” he nodded and lead the fox-slippered Gabrielle towards the kitchen. Where Mazin had at least unpacked the ingredients in a… halfway sensible manner. Apparently, he had listened when she explained what she needed for what.
He waved at her with a knife and a wetstone: “Welcome to the kitchen! So! What can I chop how?”
She tried to ignore the sharpening noises and took in the kitchen.
It was of a comfortable size. Enough space to work – really, a nice amount – but she probably won’t run a marathon until the end of the meal prep.
“Alright, I think the knife is sharp enough now,” she frowned, eyeing the fox-apron he wore… her suspicions were validated by the fabric in Eric’s hands.
“Is it?” He took the knife and… shaved off some of the hair on his arm. Huh. “I guess it is”
“… gross” she said, because it was. “If you like it this much, then by my guest… you could use a kitchen machine, but if you want to use knives”
“See? She gets me, after all!” Mazin exclaimed, as if he didn’t speak sarcasm.
Eric looked apologetic.
But at least the knife-man was occupied. With a bit of bodyguard-help, she got all pans, bowls and otherwise needed kitchenware.
The cutting-noises could be mostly ignored.
Her patience was almost at its limits.

Sharpening Wood Carving Tools
Tumblr media
Sharpening carving tools is an essential step in carving. A sharp carving tool works better because it slices through the best wood carving gloves easier, making it safer and quicker to use. It, also, leaves a cleaner path behind. A good sharp edge means less effort, which means less force. When less force is needed, more control is possible, making the work safer.
There are many methods of sharpening carving tools from power grinders to wetstones to sandpaper and finally the strop. The most inexpensive method is using a couple of grades of sandpaper and a strop.
How much sharpening is needed depends on how damaged the edge of the blade is. If damaged or dull, you will need to use a 400 grit sandpaper laid on a flat surface such as the edge of the table. Place the blade edge down and drag it across the wet surface of the paper at an eleven degree angle. One way of finding an approximate eleven-degree angle is to use either a nickel or a dime beneath the spine of the blade.
If your carving blade is three quarters of and inch in width or more, lay your blade flat on the sharpening surface and raise the spine of the blade until you can fit the edge of a nickel under it. If it is less than three quarters of an inch, use a dime.
Drag the edge along the wet sandpaper surface until all the nicks are gone and you have a smooth edge. Then do the same thing using a 600 grit wet sandpaper.
Finish by loading your leather (strop) up with your white aluminum oxide to the point that it won't absorb any more compound. You can use some light oil to help create a paste-like consistency. Make sure you wipe your blade clean of any sandpaper residue with a cloth. You don't want to get any grit on your strop. Then drag your knife edge along the strop at the same 11 degree angle, and continue equally on both sides, sharpening until you get a mirrored edge.
You can test the sharp edge by taking your knife and carving across the end grain of a piece of carving wood. You should see a smooth shiny surface and the end grain clearly. If you see a white line in your slice, you have a nick in your edge. You need to go back and start the process over. Once you have the edge you like on your knife, all you should have to do is strop about every fifteen minutes and protect your edge when you're not using your knife.

DDay 6: Pocketses Precious
Under the cut again because this is gonna get long.
Darva Lavellan:
He’s a collector of things he can shove into his bag. (Also in practical sense he has a backpack and stores items in chests at different camps. He also stores non-armor and misc things in his chambers Skyhold while weapons and armor are in the Undercroft.)
A pad of paper and a wooden pencil. Some of the pages have pressed flowers between them and others have bird feathers as bookmarks. The cover is leather, worn from years of usage. He’s the kind of guy to use things until they break; he keeps adding pages to it and expanding the binding. He’ll run his fingers over the different kinds of leathers.
In Skyhold he has other journals and books compiled together on his shelves. Much of the stuff written by him is transcribed information since his handwriting is awful. He also has dyslexia.
He carries handkerchiefs that somehow always manage to be dry and clean. He pulls them out of pockets hidden under his armor.
Half a dozen knives are hidden on his person at a time. He’s always gotta have himself covered. His murder knife is kept strapped to his chest in a leather sheath he made himself.
Little glass bottles for keeping potions, ingredients and plant samples in. He finds loads of them and takes them back to Skyhold so he can plant them or give them to the researchers.
A small dalish knife that was his father’s and a small worry-stone with the symbol of Sylaise carved into it from his mother. He fidgets with the stone and he uses the knife to carve little things; Blackwall taught him and he is trying to carve a June’s knot.
He also carries all the practical items like a flint and steel, kindling, bedroll, adventures gear. He teaches a lot of the scouts how to survive the bad weather with dalish methods. Like what plants are safe to eat, how to track people/animals through the pouring rain.
Day to day, he keeps the worry stone, his father's knife, and several other knives on his person,
Eth Tabris:
She carries her Grey Warden rite wine/conscription ale in a glass bottle she stole from the Arl of Denerim’s estate when her and Shianni escaped. She also broke a number of those bottles over people’s heads. It was satisfying as hell.
A well organized notebook that she probably stole when she was a child. She sews more binding to the back of it along with new pages as she needs it. It’s very neat and methodical.
A spare bow in addition to her swords. She also carries spare bowstrings and gear for repairing arrows and her bow.
She always carries her mother’s dagger after her father gifts it to her. She also has a wetstone and oil to keep her blades in the best condition. Her dagger is always at her side along with her quiver of arrows.
She has an extensive sewing gear collection; she has leather needles and thread, some gear for fixing shoes. She’s the one to go to when they need shoes and boots repaired. (It was something her father taught her on a whim and it’s served her well.)
She keeps her wedding ring on her person all the time and she also keeps the necklace given to her during the Gauntlet.
Awakening AU: she carries her wedding ring and Alistair’s mother’s amulet around her neck. It’s the one thing she would be truly upset about losing. She also has Wyne preserve the rose he gave her and she carries it with her on the way to Weisshaupt. She places it behind his ear in his tomb before it’s sealed.

Duke Energy Aims to Achieve Net-Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050
Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK) has announced an updated climate strategy with a new goal of net-zero carbon emissions from electric generation by midcentury. The company also is accelerating its near-term goal by cutting its carbon dioxide emissions by half or more from 2005 levels by 2030.
This follows strong progress the company has made in reducing carbon emissions 31% since 2005. The reduction Duke Energy has already achieved meets or exceeds the standards of the former Clean Power Plan and the 2025 U.S. commitment to the Paris Agreement.
The company’s 2017 goal to reduce carbon emissions 40% by 2030 was one of the industry’s most ambitious at the time. Since then, sustained, low natural gas prices and declining costs for renewables and storage have allowed the company to accelerate that goal to at least 50% by 2030.
“We are making a cleaner energy future a reality for our customers and communities,” said Lynn Good, chairman, president and CEO. “A diverse mix of renewables, nuclear, natural gas, hydro and energy efficiency are all part of this vision, and we’ll take advantage of economical solutions to continue that progress. In the longer-term, innovation and new technologies will be critical to a net-zero carbon future.”
The company’s net-zero goal represents one of the most significant commitments to reducing carbon dioxide emissions in the U.S. power sector. Achieving these goals requires a thoughtful approach that pairs today’s technologies with the research and development needed for tomorrow. The company expects it can achieve significant reductions in carbon emissions by 2050 with the technology that exists today.
“Getting to net-zero carbon emissions, while ensuring energy remains reliable and affordable, will require new technologies. That’s the very reason we need to act now,” Good said. “We must continue leveraging today’s technologies while sustaining investment in innovation for this vision to become reality.”
This video message from CEO Lynn Good provides leadership perspective on this important issue.
Duke Energy’s path to a net-zero carbon future Transforming our energy infrastructure is no small task, and these steps will enable the appropriate balance between pace and cost, reliability and innovation.
Collaborate and align with our states and stakeholders as we transform. The steps and timeline for this transition will be unique in each state we serve, and we’ll collaborate with regulators, customers and other stakeholders to determine the right path.
Accelerate our transition to cleaner energy solutions. We’re planning to at least double our portfolio of solar, wind and other renewables by 2025. We’ll continue deploying low-cost natural gas to speed the transition from coal and maintain reliability. New natural gas infrastructure will be required to fuel this transition and balance renewables. We’ll continue expanding energy storage, energy efficiency and electric vehicle infrastructure.
Continue to operate our existing carbon-free technologies, including nuclear and renewables. Our nuclear fleet’s nearly 11,000 megawatts of carbon-free generation in the Carolinas is central to our ability to meet these goals. That’s enough energy to serve 7 million homes.
Modernize our electric grid. The company is investing in a multiyear effort to create a smarter and more resilient grid that can protect against extreme weather and cyber or physical attacks. These grid improvements also support adding more renewables, while avoiding outages and providing customers more control over their energy use.
Advocate for sound public policy that advances technology and innovation. This includes advanced renewable energy, longer-lasting storage, new nuclear technologies, low- and zero-carbon fuels and effective ways to capture carbon emissions. The company also will support permitting reforms that will enable new technologies to be deployed.

Duke Energy customers benefit from a diverse mix of energy sources that has kept electricity prices well below the national average. This has allowed the company to retire 49 coal-fired units totaling 6,190 megawatts since 2010, replacing those with flexible natural gas and growing renewables.
The company will work with regulators and stakeholders in the states it serves and will outline proposed steps in the resource plans it files. Phasing out remaining coal generation will occur gradually and on different timelines in the states Duke Energy serves to protect customer rates and reliability.
Climate and energy leaders expressed their support for Duke Energy’s updated goals:
“The Clean Air Task Force congratulates Duke Energy for its significant leadership as the nation’s largest electric company in making a science-based commitment to eliminating its net carbon emissions by midcentury. With Duke’s announcement, electricity providers representing more than 30% of U.S. electric sales are now committed by pledge or law to fully phasing out climate-warming emissions. We look forward to working with Duke to advance the technology and policies needed to make this transition swift and affordable.”  -- Armond Cohen, executive director of Clean Air Task Force
“Over the past 12 months, we’ve witnessed rapid growth in the number of U.S. electric utilities making commitments to significant carbon-reduction goals. We congratulate Duke Energy for their announcement joining this group. As one of the nation’s largest utilities, their commitment will have a meaningful impact on efforts to achieve a carbon-free energy system.”  -- Julia Hamm, president and CEO of the Smart Electric Power Alliance
“We applaud Duke Energy’s plan to rapidly expand clean energy technology with an eye toward net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Coordinated investments made today in low-cost renewable energy sources, electric grid modernization, energy storage and electric vehicle charging infrastructure will lead to a cleaner and more cost-effective electricity supply for American consumers.”  -- Tom Kiernan, CEO of the American Wind Energy Association
“Duke Energy’s leadership is taking the United States a great step forward. To reach our midcentury goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and avoid the worst effects of climate change, it’s critical that electricity providers lead the way. Vehicle electrification and heating and cooling in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors all depend on a decarbonized power source. When one of the largest energy holdings companies in the United States and the largest by number of customers served says it’s going net zero, the world takes notice.” -- Bob Perciasepe, president of Center for Climate and Energy Solutions
“With their bold commitment to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, Duke Energy continues to lead in American power. Market signals like these demonstrate that transitioning to clean energy can be as positive for affordability and reliability as it is for addressing climate change. ClearPath applauds Duke Energy’s plan to lean in on energy innovation to create the new technologies needed to achieve their goal. We look forward to working alongside Duke Energy to encourage federal investments in clean technology. Innovations in advanced nuclear, carbon capture for coal and gas and battery storage will ensure this clean path is affordable for consumers.” -- Rich Powell, executive director of ClearPath
“Kudos to Duke Energy for its new plan to deploy more renewable power and accelerate its carbon reduction goals. This is an important step toward the transition to a carbon-free electricity grid, which is at the heart of any effective climate solution.”  -- Gregory Wetstone, president and CEO of the American Council on Renewable Energy
