10.10.18
Hey, it’s Cate and I've decided that maybe it’s time for a reboot of my blog. I’ve changed my name from cheshirecatstudies to apollonotes in view of some lifestyle changes since I made my tumblr last year before my a levels, so I feel like it’s apt for a new and better introduction, since I didn’t really do that last time!
about me
my name’s cate
i’m 18
i’m english
currently taking a gap year
achieved AAB in a levels and have a place to study classics
studied classics, art and english for levels, with an as in history
gryffindor/infp-t
interests
art; i studied fine art but also do more stylistic work in my own time. studying fine art often drew in an interest of photography, particularly portrait photography
i love the fallout universe! Probably my all time favourite game and have been playing it for many years with my characters often being the inspiration for my artwork
languages, especially latin, studying it at GCSE and looking forward to taking up both latin and greek for my course.
music; I listen to most genres of music with a particular focus on indie ad older music. my favourite artists are probably the Beatles (individually also) and Bon Iver
reading; unfortunately I haven’t had time since finishing my a level courses, but i have a long list of classics to read before and throughout university!
reasons for a studyblr
keep inspired and not get lazy throughout my gap year
share my experiences with school life and post about my studies and travels through my gap year
studyblr inspirations
@mousethatreads // @studydiaryofamedstudent // @studyblr // @athenastudying // @wendysnotes // @architstudy // @studyquill // @studylustre // @study-harder // @emmastudies
if you have any questions or just want a chat, don’t hesitate to send me a message! please reblog/like/let me know if you’re a studyblr so i can follow you, but more importantly have a nice day :))

and here is the second part: a collection of collections - instrumental playlists for all moods, whether it’s studying or ambient noise. @wendysnotes
amhrán na farraige: a collection of songs inspired by the sea. title inspired by the film song of the sea.
adventure: a playlist to spark adventure and rekindle wanderlust. (this is also my hype playlist when i’m studying at the last minute.)
love: lovely songs for happy days.
nostalgia: songs that remind me of home. (in the words of a friend of mine, “if songs had temperatures, these would be warm.”)
piano: surprise surprise - the playlist called “piano” is a playlist consisting solely of piano pieces.
reverie: a quiet playlist for contemplation. this playlist is also called “melancholy” on my ipos.
space: celestial bodies and astronomical happenings - a playlist featuring sleeping at last.

merry christmas, wendy! ( @wendysnotes ) i’m your secret santa. my name is atlas - nice to meet you (and be able to actually introduce myself)!
i hope you’re having a fantastic holiday! my gift for you is twofold, so here’s the first bit: a gingersnap recipe. it’s a bit of my tradition to make them every year (i made mine this morning), so i thought i’d share the tradition! the original recipe has been in my family for a while, but this one has my own twists to it. i hope you enjoy it!
sift together 2 cups flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp ground cloves, 1 tsp ground ginger, and 3 tsp baking soda. in a large bowl, cream together 3/4 cup vegetable shortening, 1 cup sugar, 1 egg, and 1/4 cup molasses. stir in the flour mixture. shape the dough into balls (smaller than 1 inch) and roll in sugar. place on a lined baking sheet. flatten them with your fingers, then bake for 6-7 minutes for a more chewy cookie or 8-10 minutes for a crispy gingersnap.
more to follow!
