sometimes i forget that being depressed isn't normal honestly

#bambi's rambling #i mean like it's normal for me and has been for years #possibly always #like i remember crying myself to sleep and thinking no one loved me at like age five #i just didn't really understand the concept until like. fifteen or sixteen i think #at one point i looked up an online 'are you depressed' quiz #even before my mom put me in therapy cause she was concerned #but it said i had 'mild depression' so i was like oh well that doesn't really count obviously #(the ironic part was that it was the same test that the therapist used to see if i was depressed. so apparently it was legitimate)#but like i dont know how not to be depressed #i know its getting worse lately but like. what do i do about that #i'm so horrendously uncomfortable talking about this kind of thing even in online settings #like there's a 50/50 change imma delete this instead of posting it it's that bad #prolly gonna delete this even if i do post it #how am i supposed to get help when i can't even ask for it. that kinda thing #not like it matters all that much anyway lmao #it's just my brain being stupid like normal #vent #tw vent #tw depression #tw mental illness #cw depression #cw mental health

On the one hand, if Marquis Yan hadn't been such a deadbeat Jiujiu then maybe Prince Yu would have been a better candidate for Emperor. On the other hand we saw what being a good candidate for Emperor with a powerful and involved uncle did for Prince Qi, so possibly Marquis Yan actually prolonged Prince Yu's life and saved his kid.

the way i feel about birthdaygate is: i kind of hate it (or used to?) but also i feel like theres way too many coincidences so i only dislike it now. i made peace with it

HISTORY:

Diana Goodman never expected to have children. But when she and her husband, Dan, got the news that she was pregnant, she was overjoyed. She spent the whole pregnancy eagerly waiting the arrival of her baby and when he came, she fell in love instantly. She named him Gabriel, after her father. Unfortunately, when Gabriel was one and a half, tragedy struck and he passed away.

The loss of her only son and first child took a toll on Diana and she sunk into a depression. Dan did everything he could to try and pull her out of it, but nothing worked. Their daughter, Natalie, was born six months later. Gabriel would've been two. Diana tried to be there for Natalie as she grew, but it was hard. She kept thinking of Gabriel and how she wished he was there instead.

By the time Natalie was sixteen and Gabriel eighteen, Diana's depression had become a constant. She saw a psychiatrist every week and took the medicine he prescribed to her with minimal questioning. At Gabriel’s urging, however, she stopped taking it and attempted suicide. She wound up in the hospital and underwent electroshock therapy that caused her to lose the past nineteen years of her memory, including her memories of Gabriel. She recovered these memories and decided to leave Dan so that she could heal and recover on her own time. Gabriel stayed with Dan and Diana didn’t see him very much. Eventually, she stopped seeing him at all.

he died before i was born ; verse - ghost verse! basically the same as gabe’s canon verse, except he’s a ghost and not a figment of diana’s subconscious. he can interact with the living world to an extent and he’s able to be seen by other ghosts and supernatural creatures, as well as those who are more in tune with the supernatural world.

so my son’s a little shit ; verse - gabe lives. gabe does not die as a baby and goes on to grow up and have the life he should’ve had. he adores his mother and annoys natalie to no end. his relationship with dan is a little strained but they’re working on fixing it.

Still getting my ass kicked by this vaccine, but I've been working on this Elfquest nonsense that I mentioned a few months ago! Some may remember that I tried a Let's Read in 2018, but got distracted and bored, because it's material I'd read fifty million times before. Doing it by following the material through the chronological timeline is proving a lot more entertaining, and I'm now a few posts in, which is nice.

It's also nice that I'm.. very much just writing this for my own entertainment, because:

It's very satisfying to just dig hard into the nostalgia with this series, haha. And it's educational to read back through, and say: okay, this is how I perceived this as a child, when I didn't really understand the material, and this is how I'm reading it now, as an adult with a full context for what I'm reading. It's like a little personal study on how reader perception changes, and what each target audience might be focusing on more.

I'm also getting to indulge in very dumb jokes, too, which is fun.

So many dumb fucking jokes.
