TOP 10 PODCASTS ON AO3 BASED ON NUMBER OF FANWORKS (2013-2022)

YEAR = November 6 (or closest date to it if unavailable) of that year

To make this bar chart race, all series titles in the Other Media Category on November 6 (or the closest date to it) of every year were copy-pasted from Wayback Machine to Google Sheets, rearranged according to number of fanworks, and manually filtered since not all podcasts were marked as such. Then I inputted all the top 10 data to Flourish to turn into a bar chart race.

Some web series like Critical Role and Dimensions 20 released audio-only versions of their works too, but I left them out since they were listed was a web series on ao3 and more known as one too. 

Similarly, radio shows which only had podcasts years after they started are not included. That means Cabin Pressure, which I accidentally added in the 2022 Top 20 ranking last week, is not included here because it was only rereleased as a podcast in 2019, and 90% of the fanworks it has now are from before 2019.

All nonfiction podcasts have also been excluded (Not that there were many), because with RPFs, it’s hard to tell if the fic in question is just based on the podcast or because of the things the person has done outside of it. 

The bar race starts on 2013 because there were no podcasts in the Other Media category before that year.

The first podcast fandom to post on Ao3 was We’re Alive on January 1, 2013, followed by The Thrilling Adventure Hour on January 27, 2013, and then Welcome to Night Vale at June 2013.

In 2014-2016, Sparks Nevada Marshal on Mars, a segment from The Thrilling Adventure Hour, was also in the top 10, but I didn’t included it since it’s not its own podcast.

TOTAL = the total fanworks of all the top 10 over the years, not the whole podcast fandom itself

Do you know how common it is for Korea BL costars to do more shows together? I LOVED the actors together in To My Star and My Dating Sim, but I don't know that we will get any more BLs from them..I am preemptively sad about this because they had so much chemistry. I did think it was funny that both mains in My Dating Sim had previously been in a same show together (User Not Found) in minor roles tho

Actually, the mains from To My Star had been in a show together before it aired, too: Tale of the Nine-Tailed. They were also both in The Golden Spoon after TMS, too.

(I am assuming this means the paired unit shared an agency in both instances.)

How common it is for Korea BL costars to do more shows together?

Uncommon, if not exactly impossible. Should we call it highly highly unlikely?

We have only ever gotten pairs as second seasons (in the same roles), with ONE exception, these boys:

AKA the Kissable Lips Pair: Kim Ji Woong & Yoon Seo Bin

They did Kissable Lips and Roommates of Poongduck 304 together. They even co branded for a little while (Thai style).

But for obvious reasons (see Boys Planet) we will not be seeing them together for a long while, if ever. That's assuming Mnet doesn't go all X1 on the new group...

My approach to curing body dysmorphic disorder is and always will be body apathy. Cutting off all access to mirrors and beauty-related habits. Practicing avoiding reflections and valuing your body's functions.

However, when someone so clearly does not want to put in that effort, do you believe they should be allowed to get surgery to change their body?

In a perfect world, I don't believe bodily autonomy should include this. I do think it is a harmful practice when it's solely for cosmetic purposes.

That being said, Demi Lovato--a lifelong sufferer of body dysmorphia--has recently got liposuction in addition to her botox and face fillers. It relieves me to know she's not starving herself, but it pains me still to know she is obsessing over her body.

What are your thoughts on a woman who struggles with eating disorders getting lipo?

Literally no one believes in stunts anymore, always the same process, the same jacket to be seen, I don't understand why they insist without fear of being ridiculous?

Okay so this is something that I held off on saying outright because of Natalie and the sway she had over the RPC, but one of the reasons that we require fcs to have a large following if they're not already in the entertainment industry (or trying to be in the industry) on GPN is because it feels oddly dehumanizing and tokenizing to take people who agreed to be part of a documentary or are in someone else's vlog because they are disabled or an ethnic minority and trying to use that person as an fc for "representation". While there isn't an abundance of disabled actors, they are out there, and I would much rather use an actor or model than an activist or someone who is literally just disabled and happens to be in a video, because they're not trying to break into the entertainment world, they're just living their lives.

Not to mention, when those people are only in one documentary or an episode of a show about disabilities, you're not going to get a lot of resources anyway, so it's not sustainable to use them as an FC. Just, when you're going forward and making resources of normal non-famous people because you think they'd be "good representation," please think twice about why you're actually making those resources. Would your time be better spent gifing a disabled actor or singer or model who is actually famous or even someone who's trying to break into the industry, who will likely have more footage down the line and actually give people more incentive to use that FC? Or are you just trying to gif as many people as you can to say that you're inclusive?

#tbh to me it always felt ableist and tokenizing #to have like 40 gifs of someone that's disabled from one episode of a show /about/ being disabled #and then saying 'oh you want to play a disabled person? here use this!!!' #like there aren't already disabled actors that are trying to make their way into the industry #it just felt performative to me tbh #because I can't think of many people that would be okay with using that little resources AND comfortable using an every day person as an fc #and you know maybe i'm wrong about this! and you're more than welcome to disagree with me on that #but I do want to say this is a call for more resources of disabled people in the industry #as well as ethnic minorities #but i do think that gifing regular people is freaking weird #like if someone made gifs of my uncle from his tiktok because he has diabetes and they were like 'wow diabetes king' i'd die
