Capable candidates who failed in barangay elections,

I understand others frustration. They have the skills and the experience to do a good job as a barangay official, but they lost the election because they didn't have the money to give to the people in exchange for their votes.

It's not fair. But it's the reality. Vote buying is a common practice in barangay elections, and it's a major obstacle for capable candidates who don't have the resources to compete.

I want to assure that you're not alone. Many capable candidates have lost barangay elections for the same reason. It's not a reflection on your worth or your ability to do a good job. It's simply a reflection of the corrupt state of barangay politics in the Philippines.

But don't give up. There are still things you can do to make a difference.
