Aaron Hotchner was the most professional person in the BAU, except when it came to you. You, like him, had gone to law school. You were a public defender for just a short time before being put into WITSEC, and when your mother died, you applied to the FBI Academy.

Plain and short, it was nepotism, but no one was going to argue with the man whose wife was murdered by a serial killer. Your dad wanted you in the BAU so he could keep an eye on you, and there was nothing Erin Strauss could do about it. What your father couldn’t control, was your relationship with Reid.

He could tell you that he didn’t approve, but so long as David Rossi, king of inter-bureau mingling, was around, he couldn’t actually do anything to stop you. “I’m just saying that I’ve never seen Reid be consistent with a relationship,” your dad said, having pulled you away from the team to, once again, try to warn you off of your relationship.

“He’s been pretty consistent for the last seven months,” you responded, rifling through the victims' files that were in your arms.

You started to make your way out of the empty office when your father spoke again, “And he’s too old for you.”

Stopping in your tracks, you pivoted and faced your father, “He’s three years older than I am, I’m twenty-six. That’s hardly an age gap to bat an eye at.” The two of you had always had a rocky relationship, he missed a large portion of your childhood due to this job and you always tried to not resent him for it.

Your parents’ marriage fell apart, neither of them handled it well, and you weren’t all that surprised. They had gotten married when your mom got pregnant with you because they thought that was what they were supposed to do, and when Jack couldn’t keep them together, everything fell apart.

“You have no right to lecture me on relationships, Agent Hotchner,” you snapped, staring him down. Daring him to challenge you.

He sighed, obviously trying not to lose his patience with you. “I’d just hate for you to find out you wasted your time on something that wasn’t real.”

The door behind you swung open, you spun on your heels to face Emily. “Sorry, uh, we have a location, Morgan’s coordinating with SWAT,” she said, looking between you and your father.

“Great, let’s go,” your father said, his parental demeanor falling away as his Unit Chief mask took its place.

You walked out the door to see the rest of the team, Rossi tossed you a Kevlar vest as you walked over to where Spencer was standing with the police chief, “Where are we headed?” You asked, undoing the Velcro on the vest and pulling it over your torso. The beige precinct was buzzing as agents and officers prepared to break into the UnSub’s home base. Hopefully to find his most recent victim still alive.

Reid reached over and adjusted the strap of your vest, making sure it was evenly tightened over your shoulders. “Garcia found a warehouse on the other side of town. It’s being rented out under an anagram of the first victim’s name,” he said, gently squeezing your arm before dropping his hands back to his side.

Nodding, you followed the rest of the team out the metal doors of the precinct and into the black SUVs. “Your UnSub’s name is Jonas Watts, he used a different name to rent the space but the account he uses to pay for it is under his name,” Garcia’s voice rang through the speaker as she told you about the perpetrator. “He checks every UnSub box we have, raised by a single father after his mother left, and… oh, multiple arrests for assault.”

You looked up to the driver’s seat, your dad was white-knuckling the steering wheel, entirely focused on driving as you listened to Garcia reciting the UnSub’s rap sheet.

When you arrived at the warehouse SWAT was already there and Morgan started organizing the tactical assault. Drawing your weapon, you nodded at your teammate when he instructed you to go around the back with himself and your father. Allowing Morgan to kick the door down, the three of you held your firearms up and began clearing the warehouse.

Further away, you heard Emily and Spencer clearing the front. “Clear, moving up,” you called into your radio as you approached the stairs, stepping on them carefully so they didn’t creak. On the landing, you looked at a trail of blood on the ground. “There’s a blood trail in the upper west wing,” you whispered.

“Move up, little Hotch, I’m right behind you,” Morgan responded.

Rolling your eyes at the nickname, one that you had begged him to stop using, you moved forward, keeping your firearm aimed right in front of you. Turning into the room that the blood trail led to, you immediately ducked when you saw a knife coming for you. Keeping your gun aimed, you faced down the UnSub, “Jonas Watts, FBI!” You announced yourself, scanning the room for the girl he took last night.

Watts shook his head, “You’re not supposed to be here! You can’t be here!” He shouted in distress.

“Where’s the girl, Jonas? Where did you take Isobel?” You asked him, not seeing her in the room the two of you were in. There was another entrance on the left of him.

He stepped toward you, and you cocked your gun, “I don’t have her now. I lost her, she’s lost,” he said, there was a hint of uncertainty in his voice.

Unnerved, you decided to take a leap of faith, “Jonas, where’s your partner?” A partner hadn’t been part of the profile, but the more you thought about it, the more it made sense. The crimes were too complex, it didn’t match up with something as simple as using an anagram of a victim’s name for the warehouse rental.

Morgan filed in behind you, aiming his gun at Jonas, same as you. “Time’s running out, Jonas. If you tell us about your partner we can help you,” he said, slowly inching toward Watts.

“It’s too late,” Jonas wailed.

Someone knocked into you from behind, causing you to stumble forward before you were pulled to your feet. One arm was locked around your torso, and another was holding a knife to your throat. “If you don’t leave now, I’ll cut her fucking throat!” The unnamed man said from behind you, he was almost impossibly tall, easily overpowering you.

You didn’t dare move, not with that knife to your throat, one false move and you’d bleed out. Morgan shouted for him to let you go, but he just pressed the knife tighter to your neck, splitting the skin.

Shutting your eyes, you tried not to cry, fearing the damage it would do to your throat.

Your captor held you tightly to him, using your body to block Morgan from shooting. Something warm trickled down your collarbone, and you weren’t sure if it was blood or tears.

For a moment, you thought you could swing your foot back into his knee, but the fear of having your carotid cut outweighed your bravery.

Ever since you were a kid, you thought death would be quiet. Something you slipped into like sleep, but your death was loud, and it left your ears ringing.

The afterlife was the weirdest place you’ve ever been, someone was calling your name, and you heard your rights being read. Although, why you would need your Miranda Rights in the afterlife you had no idea.

“Angel, please open your eyes,” someone said.

Confused, you opened your eyes and saw familiar eyes staring down at you. Golden and bleary. Spencer, Spencer was here. You tried to sit up, but he held you down, keeping a hand on your throat.

Morgan was shouting for medical, saying there was an agent down. You turned your head to see the still unidentified UnSub on the ground, shot through the temple. Using his free hand to turn your chin, “Don’t look,” Spencer whispered. “You’re okay, I’ve got you. I’m not going to let anything happen to you, angel.”

If you weren’t still coming down from an adrenaline high, you might’ve smiled at the irony of the nickname. Being called ‘angel’ after having your neck cut felt like tempting fate.

Where was your dad? Of everyone here, you expected him to be here, barking orders at people.

As if summoned by your thoughts, your dad appeared, nearly hauling an EMT behind him, “Help her,” he said.

Yeah, that absolutely tracked.

The EMT’s packed your wound and assured everyone that your carotid had not been slit, against your protests, the ambulance brought you to the hospital for stitches. Emily had run to the hotel to get your go bag, allowing you to change out of your bloodied clothes.

Thankfully, the doctors said you didn’t need to stay overnight, meaning you and the team got to go home. “How are you feeling?” Spencer asked while you were waiting to board the jet.

You hummed, pulling your sunglasses over your eyes, and leaning against a car, “Tired, but I’m alright.” Tired might have been underselling it, you felt like all of the energy had been physically drained from your body. “You worry too much,” you whispered, closing your eyes for just a moment. Your throat was a little raspy, but it should go back to normal after a couple of days.

“Your throat was cut about four hours ago, some might say I’m not worrying enough,” he responded, reaching down, and picking up your bag, carrying it over to the jet once they got the okay to board. On the jet, he gestured to the seat, “Lay down, get some rest.”

You furrowed your brows, “Isn’t it kind of frowned upon to take up a whole seat?” You asked, of course, sometimes it happened, but you didn’t want to take up too much space.

Spencer cocked his head at you, “I don’t think anyone is going to fight you on it, love.”

Taking a deep breath, you sat down on the seat, laying down and closing your eyes, falling asleep before you even left the tarmac.

Being the Unit Chief had its perks, surely, but the piles of paperwork sometimes felt never-ending. Aaron took a deep breath before he closed the file, Rossi sat across from him, nursing a glass of whiskey.

“Hey,” Prentiss whispered, taking the seat next to him and setting her glass of water down on the small table. “Do you see that?” She said, gesturing with her head toward where you were lying down, asleep.

Right next to you was Reid, who usually had his nose buried in a book at this point in a flight, but he was wide awake, and all of his focus seemed to be on you. Begrudgingly, Hotch watched as Spencer reached over and tucked a blanket around you as if he was afraid you’d freeze on the temperature-controlled jet. “What about it?” Hotch asked, reaching over for the next file.

His eyes flicked up again, Spencer was sitting on the floor of the jet. Everyone had elected to leave the couch seats for the two of you, but the one across the aisle from you was empty. Like Reid didn’t even want you to be any more than one foot away from him.

Leaning back in the chair, Emily shook her head, “That’s what we in the business call hypervigilance.”

Hotch didn’t respond, he just spared another glance over at the two of you. “’We in the business’?” He inquired, humoring Prentiss.

“I’m just saying… the hovering? The blanket? I don’t know about you, but that looks pretty real to me,” she said, leaning back in the leather seat.

Silently, he glared, it would seem his hopes of getting the team to stop eavesdropping on familial conversations were quashed.

“Just let the kids be, Aaron,” Rossi said, grinning into his glass.

He cleared his throat and flipped open the new file before he acquiesced, “Fine, for now.”

Also note that due to the complicated timeline of the games I'm going to say that Zelda has traveled back maybe 10,000 years because as of right now there's no telling how to fit it into the timeline for sure-

Yandere Ganondorf x Archeologist Reader

Zelda and Link. Two people you had come to know well as you had helped Link grow used to life in Hyrule after waking from his 100 year nap.

You were an assistant who occasionally helped Purah but also looked for things to research on your own when you could.

And when Link had saved the kingdom from Calamity Ganons grasp? You had grown close to Princess Zelda, who shared many interests with you. You two got along quite well, having fun and sharing research with each other and having long conversations about the past and the link between technological advancements and a declining birthrate.

And with Link? You appreciated the times when you could just relax. You would both sit by the fire and relax or you would tell him stories to pass the time.

Before Link had managed to defeat Calamity Ganon you would empathize with the struggle of not remembering his past, of the emotions that came with the weight of the world on his shoulders. And you would help him find ways to find happiness in the small things, even talking with him and having conversations to make things seem less stressful than they were.

So with Link and Zelda by your side with ruins of the ancient past? What would you have to worry about? Zelda is knowledgeable about ruins and Link is strong enough to help either of you if something were to happen.

But things don't always turn out how you want them to be huh?

Walking up to what looked to be a corpse deprived of light and dehydrated to the point it was practically a standing mummy, a hand attached to its chest and a spiral of light emitting from the contact.

And as though it were fate, that hand detached, a stone falling with it. A part of you felt as though you weren't supposed to be here, you took a step back, behind Zelda and Link, your eyes fixated on the mummified corpse.

As if you had walked into some tale of horror, the cracks of bones could be heard from the body, it slowly moving in what could only be described as terrifying.

Just as it opened its eyes Link blocked the first attack, and you grabbed Zelda's wrist, ready to run with her if need be. And the shattering of the master sword echoed through the chamber.

"The sword that seals the darkness? Such a fragile sword cannot defend you from me." He stated, a raspy voice speaking out.

"Zelda.. And you who carries that sword are Link." He continued.

The conversation did not last, another attack carried and both you and Zelda are knocked into the abyss. And even if it would be your death, you did not let go of Zelda, knowing that you'd rather be together in death should you die from that fall.

But all you saw was a burst of light before you inevitably passed out, your consciousness fully collapsing as the world around you changed.

And then there you were, in a field in Hyrule, both you and Zelda lain among the grass for a certain King and Queen to find you.

Zelda was the first to awaken to their voices, explaining who she was to them before they explained their own title.

And just before Zelda could gasp, you awoke. You held yourself as you woke up before fully awakening and looking around frantically for Zelda.

You didn't mind the strangers as you crawled over quickly to check for wounds, "Are you okay? You didn't get hurt?" You asked.

And upon realizing where you were, and looked upon by strangers, both you and Zelda explained what had happened to the young King and Queen as they brought you to the peak

Of course what followed was being brought to the founding kingdom of Hyrule, Rauru and Sonia treated Zelda like their daughter, smiling and making sure she was well fed.

They had claimed that both you and Zelda were distant relatives despite you saying you were not a part of the Hylian royal family. But they stated it would be better to claim that for now.

And while they treated Zelda like their child, when it came to you they were gentle as though you were someone they loved. You did not have powers like them and so they made sure you had a guard with you at all times.

Often times you would be found by the pair with Mineru, both of you enjoying different topics and you found immense enjoyment from learning everything that the Zonai technology could offer.

Sometimes you would actually fall asleep in Minerus office, and you could have sworn one time to hear Sonia and Rauru conversing as your head was supported by a lap and your hair pet gently. It was such a warm and gentle feeling so you eventually drifted back to sleep only to wake up in your chambers the next day.

And then, the one and only Gerudo King known as Ganondorf made his appearance.

Far too many times had you seen the depictions of a monstrous beast called Ganon, and upon hearing the name in another form you could feel shivers roll down your spine.

You stood next to Zelda, deciding to take your mind off of the King and look to his group, finding the differences in the attire of the past and future was fun to you rather than thinking about the anxiety that came with meeting Ganondorf.

And while you gazed at his group, Ganondorf had been staring at the stones for a time, noticing Zelda had one so he assumed that you would as well. And as soon as he noticed you did not have one he should have brought his gaze back to Rauru but he couldn't.

The way those robes fit on your figure, your soft looking features and that gaze of intelligence and warmth in your eyes had him nearly move his head to look right at you. But of course he knew better than to make his interest clear right in the throne room.

He couldn't keep his eyes off you, even when he and his group of warriors were escorted to different chambers to rest he had your face in mind. And before he was escorted to the separate nicer chamber he would stay in for his standing in the Gerudo tribe was the highest, he pulled two warriors aside and told them to keep an eye on you in secret, to learn more about you.

"And what kind of information on her would you like us to gather?" One asked, prepared for whatever her king would ask of them.

"Everything." He stated, turning to follow the Hylian maid who stood quite a bit away.

And so for an entire week, while observing many schedules of those who had the secret stone, he would try to find the places you tended to wander in.

He learned of the foods you prefered, how you spent a lot of your time either in the garden or the library, snacks such as fruit you often snacked on. He also found out the size of the robes you wore, getting a messenger to send that information back to the tribe to prepare you clothing. And he also tried his best to search into your orgins, but even most servants of the palace did not know where you came from.

It was frustrating that oftentimes you were with a member of the royal family or in places he couldn't get to without arising suspicion when it came to trying to get close to you.

Until finally, you were in the garden, only a single guard standing a couple of feet away as you sat in the grass and with a sketchbook open drew the different kinds of plants in front of you.

He found it beautiful. How your fresh flowed around you in the grass and your hunched form taking in the details of nature.

A part of him thought it suited you. But another thought how much better you would look smiling at him and waving him over.

But alas he had to make the first move.

So that's what he did, he stepped into the garden and made a light cough, the guard startling and immediately formed a stance while you turned to face what was only a pair of legs till you craned your head up to look at him.

You stayed completely still out of shock, till Ganondorf tilted his head a bit, wondering why you merely stared.

"Am I truly that shocking to see my lady?" He asked, a small smirk adorning his face. You nearly wanted to run but at the same time a part of you didn't want to create problems for Rauru or Sonia or even possibly Zelda so you decided to be neutral and scoot over a bit.

"Not as shocked as you would think, sit down and maybe I could see your face without needing to break my neck." You said, hoping that maybe he wouldn't be too interested so you wouldn't have to be too on edge.

But much to your surprise you heard a loud chuckle and next thing you knew had the King of the Gerudo sitting next to you in a garden of flowers.

You couldn't stand the awkward silence so you decided to form a conversation with him instead. "So how is your stay? I hope you're finding things enjoyable?" You ask, fumbling with the pages of your sketchbook, the notes written between the pages among illustrations and dried flowers and plants.

Ganondorf took in everything. How lovely your face looked up close, how tiny your hands were as you held that book in hand, and how your fingernails would get under a page to flip to another as you tried to make conversation.

He wanted you. He knew for certain then and there that he wanted you. It was love at first sight yes. But it wasn't the kind that he would throw away everything for until this point.

Now he understood the tales of foolish people throwing things they had worked hard for away for love. But it's a good thing Ganondorf is a greedy man. He'll have you first even if it means abandoning his first plan. He can always create another.

So as his mind processed these thoughts he gave a hum of confirmation before gazing down at you, "Do you know anything about the desert?" He asked. You would never know this was a conversation to prepare you for the harshness of the desert when he would eventually find a way to sweet talk his way into taking you there.

But unexpectedly you nodded and smiled, "Yes! While during the day it reaches its hottest point at noon, and its coolest point at midnight. But the sunsets and sunrises in the desert are breathtaking!" You started, smiling as you opened another page to some of the flora and fauna you've observed in the future.

"See I love how things can still manage to survive, it's so interesting how they form their own ways of survival and manage to thrive. Just like people do!" You stated.

"And how clear the sky looks at night when you're in the desert, it almost looks like an endless sea of stars. It does get cold at night but I've never been one to grow cold easily." You add, a bright smile on your face only keeping the man stunned in place.

How positive you were when he had only seen the negatives of his homeland. The vast desert is dry and harsh. He hated the Hylians who had taken for granted their habitable home and yet here he was, in love with a Hylian even before you would confess of your love for the desert.

You went on about how to build the most efficient homes, how staying near an oasis is the best move, and how white paint or tiles would help reflect the sun off the roofs. How different muds and rocks and soil can affect how to build a home there. And how you enjoyed the feeling of warm sand on your feet.

It took you at least an hour of talking to realize he had listened intently for a whole hour.

It left your face feeling hot and putting your book to cover your mouth and nose, hoping to cover up whatever blush had formed on your cheeks. "Sorry, here I am drawling on and talking your ear off." You muttered, avoiding eye contact but also realizing that looking at his well-toned body was a bigger mistake as you felt your heartbeat rise and then looked to the scenery to try and calm yourself down.

Ganondorf only chuckled, smiling as he set a hand on your head and gave your hair a little ruffle. "It's okay little Vai, I quite enjoy listening to you talk." He claims, getting up before looking down once more, "We should talk again." He adds.

And with that he walked off, leaving you slightly bewildered.

Unknown to you, that guard had reported back to Rauru and Sonia at the end of the day after making sure you were safe in your chambers.

The next day Rauru and Sonia would pull aside Zelda and Mineru while you were in one of the libraries researching.

"What do we do? Why on earth would he take an interest in Y/n?" Zelda asked, her hands held together in anxiety.

"He should have been targeting one of us. Someone who holds a secret stone. Y/n doesn't even have a stone!" She adds.

Mineru and Rauru sat silently in thought while Sonia put her hand over Zeldas, "Do not worry. I don't think he has the intention to hurt her." She claims, her calm voice carrying Zelda out of all the thoughts of you becoming hurt.

"But that doesn't mean he doesn't hold other intentions with her." Rauru says, looking slightly agitated as his gaze stays focused on the table.

"She wouldn't betray us. That much is certain. So if he doesn't seek to harm her or get information out of her, what could it be?" Mineru asks out loud, her question plaguing the thoughts of all four of them.

And they all knew only time could tell.

And unfortunately for them, Ganondorf would come to find you often, growing closer to you and making you feel comfortable around him. And due to that, coming up with a new plan to propose to his tribe and the warriors who followed him was easy.

He would take you as his wife. A surefire way to ensure a "peace treaty" between the Gerudo and Hylians. And your knowledge of the landscape and ways to improve their housing would prove useful for keeping his people safe, many warriors agreed with this plan as the longevity of their tribe mattered to them more than stealing a stone.

If they managed to strengthen their tribe with knowledge you could lend then they could form a better plan to take over Hyrule.

So with the support of his warriors, he asked to meet with the Hylian court, including you.

And it was tense. When you stepped into the hall, you could have sworn Sonia was on the edge of yelling and Rauru was bewildered. Zelda took notice of you and immediately brought you close to her and went closest to the thrones to keep you within reach.

You had made it late so you didn't know that Ganondorf had just announced his wish to marry you.

"Are you insane? You propose such a thing to keep the peace between our people?" Rauru asked, his voice commanding an answer from the brazen Gerudo King.

"But it is not unreasonable. I understand that Y/n is a distant relative yes? Not only is she of noble lineage she is also intelligent and capable of helping my tribe prosper. Would it not benefit both you and me? You would have my word of peace and know that your relative would be in capable hands and protected by my people as she would become one of us by wedding me, trying our people together." He concluded, looking straight at Rauru.

You were shocked at the information, never expecting to be proposed to by such a man. Yes, he seemed to be kind to you but how would you know he would keep his promise of peace? The history you read was different from this!

You felt overwhelmed as Rauru and Sonia went on about rejecting and Ganondorf would try to talk about the benefits. It took you a minute to collect yourself so you could speak.

"That's enough!" You yelled. You hated all the attention turning to you but this was your life. You were not going to allow anyone else to choose anything for you.

"Give me a couple of days. And I will reply to your proposal Ganondorf. Please allow me that." You stated. Rauru and Sonia wanted to object, and Zelda held onto your hand desperately.

Ganondorf smiled, giving a nod before speaking, "I hope you will give me good news soon my lady.".

After the meeting Rauru, Sonia, Zelda and Mineru profusely asked you to reconsider saying anything but no. That this was insane and that you don't know any of his intentions. It took at least an hour of their constant pestering for you to hole up in a library with snacks and comfort items.

You quite literally locked them out and spent your time reading to try and find any wisdom to help you.

Eventually you came across an old scroll, your body wrapped in a blanket and a few grapes in a bowl nearby while you read what this scroll had to say.

"Time is a complex device. One that has too many layers to have one conclusion. Some say time is final, that the past cannot be changed, and nor can the future. But some say that one single element can change that. The outcome is split into multiples and time divided. Should you find yourself at a crossroads and the future you envision challenged, take the chance for there is no telling if the future is sure. And if changed with a sure future, know that while things around you may change, you will not."

And with that you had decided.

You had bathed and gotten dressed and called a meeting to answer Ganondorfs request. And Rauru, Sonia, Zelda, and Mineru looked as anxious as can be.

And with a couple of words, fate was changed.

"I accept your proposal."

What tf is Knights !! arc about, or also why are the kouhais essential to their general arc:

I wrote this as a thread on the bird app, but since someone is k!lling that app, I'm putting this here, with a few tweaks. Obligatory disclaimer that I have kouhais brainrot :)

1. The main !! arc

I've been guilty of complaining that Knights !! arc has been pretty vague, and yeah, it sorta was. The thing is, it was more clear to see how their arc went in !, because it was pretty simple: a bunch of individualists leaning to come together as a unit, and also healing together from their past wounds. But now that they've sorta learned to work together and have a new leader, wtf is their arc even about?

I'd argue it's exactly related to their cute new leader, but first I wanna talk about his cute new kouhais.

2. The kouhais

First we see them mentioned back in the ! arc, in Operetta, which happens in... April, in-game, if I'm not mistaken? Sometime in the Spring, for sure. That was the event that set off my kouhais brainrot <3

Ritsu and Arashi discuss how there are so many newcomers in Knights, that soon it will be as big as Chess was, and how worried they are about it. (They also have a cute moment where they call Tsukasa a miracle, which is sooo adorable, the way they love Tsukasa so much.... sobs).

The convo basically sums up their past arc (the War stuff, Tsukasa being the miracle that helped them heal and come together, etc), but also sets up something that's gonna be recurrent in their future arc: the amount of newbies they have, and how it affects the unit as a whole.

The very first time we see Knights in !!, even before they showed up in the Main Story, was the gacha story Meowsketeers, the first !! gacha. Which, surprise, is dealing with the kouhais :)

In Meowsketeers, Ritsu is bothered by how Tsukasa just bluntly dismissed a bunch of newbies because they weren't taking things seriously. Tsukasa's argument was that it's ok if you just want to have fun as an idol, but in that case they should just go to other units, because, in Knights, he wants only people who take their activities more seriously - after all, they are the top earners of ES. (Which, looking back now, is sooo funny considering how stubborn Tsukasa is in protecting his kouhais later LOL).

Anyway, Ritsu really doesn't agree with that and spends most of the story stressed about it. He understands Tsukasa's point, and he wants to support Tsukasa since they chose him as their King, but he also feels sorry for the newbies. It all gets solved when the newbies send him a video of them practicing, and apologize for not taking it seriously before, and ask him to vouch for them to be let back in the unit, and he promises them he'll convince Tsukasa to let them join again. (We are never told if Tsukasa lets them back in or not btw lol I just assume he did).

In my opinion, it’s not for nothing that this was the first Knights story in !!, as it sets up the important themes of:

- Tsukasa is not adding just anyone, he wants his newbies to make an effort!

- Ritsu is pretty attached to them, despite the worries he voiced in Operetta, and it shows (especially in euthanasia lol)

- Knights as a whole doing their best to support Tsukasa’s decisions as their leader, even if they have complaints (they’re so cute in this story btw, teasing him and all, really, go read it)

But then you might ask, why tf was their first event Next Door, which has nothing to do with the kouhais?

Next Door, my behated <3, sets up another plot that inconveniences Knights later, ESPECIALLY in Sudden Death: Leo getting shipped off to Italy with Izumi. Now, I’m not sure in universe, but irl Leo and Izumi are arguably the most popular Knights, along with Ritsu. So let’s say it might be the same in universe: them being away would be an inconvenience to knights, right?

Exactly :)

Later in SS, when Knights’ orders get leaked, Leo wants to stay in Japan to support them, but he and Izumi have to go to Eurovisio--, I mean, a festival in Europe. Not to mention the amount of times they have to fly back and forth between Japan and Italy in other stories. Back then it was mostly a funny gag, but then Sudden Death actually used it as a real problem for them.

Would Leo and Izumi being there have changed how things happened? Likely not lol but we’ll never know.

I’ll get back to this, but back to the kouhais.

Next event, the first Knights unit song event, euthanasia, they’re once again the source of conflict. Izumi is upset that Knights funds and time are being used on the kouhais, Tsukasa insists it’s a necessary investment. Leo agrees with Tsukasa, because he wants to support him, as the former King (he actually does this a lot through this arc tbh and it’s so cute). Arashi sort of agrees with Izumi, despite being in Yumenosaki and supporting Tsukasa, she agrees that she doesn’t want to spend her time training the newbies, but instead improving herself. Ritsu isn’t happy with all the fighting and proposes a duel, euthanasia.

The thing is euthanasia is just a play for him to prove the kouhais aren’t just useless deadweight (as he has them performing alongside Knights), but he also understands Izumi’s and Arashi’s worries, so his solution is to leave the kouhais training in the hands of the Producer Association.

This event also brings back the concern Ritsu and Arashi had back in Operetta: with this many newbies, soon Knighs will be like Chess, and we know how Chess ended, right? But Ritsu squashes those worries by showing that: 1) unlike Chess members, the newbies are hardworking, and 2) they have the support of groups like the Producer Association now, while back during the War, Chess (and all other units) were on their own.

Also, one thing almost everyone forgets is that Chess actually ended because of the new payment system the student council set up: units received a certain amount for their lives, and it was up to them to share among the members, so the more members a unit had the less the individuals would be paid. Having a unit with more than 5 members would mean their payment would be less than their investments in the show, making it a loss to have to have so many members.

But Knights is a top earner now, one of the Big 3 of ES, so money is not a concern for them.

So now the newbies are not much of a hindrance to Knights, what else next?

After euthanasia, we get Fragrance, which again has nothing to do with the newbies, just like Sunshine, which is just Knights on vacation. But I’ll get back to that.

Fragrance is a pretty fun story, as it picks up on Arashi’s individualistic side (I don’t think it’s a bad thing btw, it’s one of Knights’ charm points imo). They’re offered to work with Aarashi’s favorite perfume brand, but she hesitates because he doesn’t want to taint her good memories of it. The others try to force her hand on it, and she ends up getting mad at them when they try to turn it into a duel. It’s a pretty good story for Arashi, as she shows her more assertive side again (after being more or less just going along with whatever their cute King suggested), but it’s also a pretty interesting story for Ritsu, imo. Back in !, he was a more laid back character who didn’t meddle so much, and Horror Night Halloween demonstrates this pretty well in the flashback sequence: he didn’t have the courage to step in and change things. When Izumi and Leo had that fight, he could only stand there listening behind that door. Now he doesn’t just stand there doing nothing, but actually takes action when Knights need it. Only this time he goes a bit overboard and ends up upsetting Arashi lol. It worked well with the kouhais conflict before, but he’s still learning how to balance his meddling lmao

Then after this we get, Sudden Death. (Man, I hate the SS arc…)

This time we get an interesting info on the kouhais: there are other, smaller, subunits of kouhais competing in Knights’ name in other regions. And there are about six of them accompanying Knights here, although they’re “in hiding”, as apparently they’re not very good yet.

I won’t give a summary on this story because it’s long and I always end up going on a hate tangent, but what’s important here are two things: the already mentioned bit of Izumi and Leo having to be abroad being an actual problem this time, and Tsukasa’s feelings for the kouhais.

I’ve talked a lot about this before on the bird app, but: Tsukasa LOVES these kids, despite whatever he says. Trust me.

After Tsukasa’s, uh, “execution” he’s too depressed to leave his room, so he can’t help Ritsu and Arashi with the plan of performing for an entire week in the avenue they reserved. Instead, it is the six not-very-good kouhais who step in to help them in his place. He reflects that he hadn’t really seen them as individuals before, but as tools, as an investiment for Knights. “Kohaku” argues that that’s not true, he must have cared for them or else they wouldn’t have stepped in to help as they did.

Sudden Death shows Tsukasa’s first failure as Knights’ leader. He trusted someone else and got betrayed. He then refused to fight back, even though he knew it would affect Knights negatively, to protect Kohaku’s family. In Requiem, when he received the crown, he declared he wouldn’t choose between his career as an idol, as Knights, and his family. But here he’s finally forced to choose between Knights and his family (Kohaku and the Oukawa clan). And he chooses his family. And it hurts him so much he’s almost suicidal.

And this is basically the last we see of Knights as a whole in this year, chronologically. We get a small peek at them during the SS finals, but it’s mostly them bickering. After this event, which reportedly left every TsukasaP dead, we rewind back in the year, to Tanabata in Seven Bridges, and the vacation in Sunshine.

Sunshine is a special case, the “funny filler vacation event”, the “beach episode” if you will. Leo fakes a slump to force Knights to go on vacation, except this vacation is basically performing at a summer festival, but which will allow them a few days to relax at the beach. And yeah, it’s funny and cute, until you realize this happens riiiight before A Dark Night’s Passing (aka that whole GFK mess, actually Leo might have already been involved in that guy during this) and Next Door (aka Leo getting scared his friends would use him, but then plotting a Judgment where he’d purposefully lose and allow them to do whatever they wanted with him, which ended up in him benign sent to Izumi to deal with). Fun stuff, right? Haha…. laughs in sad LeoP.

Seven Bridges once again is an Arashi focus, kicking off the 1.5 Main Story arc, with the plot of the cenotaph being removed and Arashi being upset about it. It also introduces Hitsugi/Negi.

But it also shows the kouhais once again, and how they were being treated by the students in the producer course (basically being ignored by the producers-to-be, who were all starry-eyed about working with THE Knights and only seemed to care about Ritsu, Arashi and Tsukasa), and Tsukasa being upset about it.

Now forgive me for being vague as this event wasn’t fully translated yet and I only read the livetweets a while ago. But basically Tsukasa is pretty upset at the Peace Party (a group of producer students who basically decides who will produce Knights, and has been lowkey bullying Anzu and Hitsugi/Negi), and after it is revealed that the cenotaph is being removed because of the Tanabata plan which the Peace Party forced Anzu to sign as her own, coupled with them treating the kouhais as less then, Tsukasa decides to basically boycott the school’s Tanabata festival and refuses to let Knights participate in it, instead choosing to participate in ES’s Tanabata. Of course, they end up participating later (I don’t remember exactly why, but if I’m not mistaken it’s because Anzu changes the plan to mix the school’s festival with ES, or something like that), but what matters to me is: Tsukasa is SO upset on the behalf of Arashi (who’s upset about the cenotaph being removed), Anzu (who’s being bullied by the Peace Party), AND his kouhais (who are being mistreated and ignored by the producer students).

But didn’t he say the kouhais were just some assets to him??

We get now to Mad Tea Party, which is set in November, right after Fragrance. Knights want their newbies to be the ones to participate in Underland (that Alice themed event we saw in Ra*bits and Alkaloid already), to better promote the newbies. Until Izumi learns that a fashion designer he admires is designing the outfits for it, and then he demands to participate too. They decide the five older members will participate along with the kouhais, but again Izumi is pissed that Ritsu/Arashi/Tsukasa are holding back during practice for the kouhais. He demands they choose only the best ones to participate. Tsukasa wants everyone to participate. Fight (duel) ensues.

We once again get Tsukasa “newbies are just an investment” Suou fighting for his kouhais. Once again we get Izumi on the opposite side of him.

This event also has an interesting point for Izumi’s character, with him complaining, why do they have to take it easy with the kouhais? Izumi himself didn’t have it easy when he started as a model and later as an idol! Remember how his favorite hobby is to bully newbies? His justification is that he wants to prepare them for how harsh the entertainment world is. This ends up clasing with how Tsukasa treats the kouhais.

But wait, wasn’t Tsukasa harsh to them during Meowsketeers?? He kicked some of them off because they weren’t taking it seriously!!

Exactly. Back then, during Meowsketeers, which happens early in the timeline, they weren’t taking it seriously. Mad Party happens in November, after euthanasia, where Ritsu mentions their kouhais are hardworking and won’t set them back. They are Knights too.

3. The real arc

I’ve talked a lot, but I’ll try to put it clearly now: this entire time, Knights arc has been about Tsukasa setting in as Knights leader, and how Knights support him/react to his actions.

Tsukasa is the youngest member of the original five. He’s also many times been referred to by them as their miracle. The one who guided them back to the light. Izumi puts it clearly in Requiem that they only kicked their asses back into gear because they had a “cute kouhai” nagging at them.

But because he’s so young and inexperienced, he also needs their support. He makes decisions they’re not always happy about, but he insists he doesn’t want to be a tyrant, so everytime they’re not satisfied with something they argue and duel until they come to an agreement. It always ends up mostly ok, until it doesn’t in Sudden Death.

Everything lines up to go wrong in Sudden Death. They’re up against Tsukasa’s dear Kohakun, who he absolutely trusts. Kohaku doesn’t know what the rest of his unit are up to. Izumi and Leo have to leave and can’t help them. Even Ritsu, Knights’ strategist, didn’t predict what would happen, because despite everyone being wary of Crazy:B, they decided to support Tsukasa who thought he could trust them. The consequences of both Knights and Crazy:B’s orders affect Kohaku, who’s loved by both Crazy:B and Tsukasa.

Even if they could have escaped the trap Crazy:B prepared for them, Tsukasa would have still been affected, as Crazy:B NEEDED to defeat Knights, or else Kohaku’s family would suffer. Tsukasa wasn’t aware of that back then, but the results would still hurt him regardless of what happened.

But it did happen, and Tsukasa had his first failure as Knights leader. And when he was at his lowest and couldn’t be there with his seniors, it were his kouhais who were there. Tsukasa thinks he “neglected” the kouhais, but “Kohaku” claims they must admire him, even be grateful to him.

We are never given names or faces for the kouhais. We are only told of their actions and lines through other characters, they’re basically NPCs. Ironically, they’re a tool in the story (but not in the way Tsukasa thinks lol): they’re here to showcase Tsukasa’s leadership skills. Even though Tsukasa believes he “neglected” them, we see it time and time again in other events how he stubbornly fought for them, even against his own beloved senpais. He diligently trained and invested time and money in them. He might have thought of them as mere assets, but they likely didn’t see it like this. What would you think if you had a senpai fighting for you, investing so much in your idol career, trying his best to make sure you flourish as Knights members? “Kohaku” was probably right. They likely admire him. Why else would they continue to perform even after they lost? Even after they saw their leader go through such a humiliating defeat? Everything Tsukasa did for them led to them being loyal to him.

This also brings back the parallel to Chess, which dissolved immediately after the students were told there wouldn’t be many benefits to being in a big unit. They weren’t loyal to each other, even before that the members barely even tried. When Leo offered them money in exchange for them not participating in Checkmate, resulting in their default loss and Knights victory, they gleefully accepted it. Because they weren’t “serious” about being idols. They didn’t have the pride and the will to win. They didn’t really care about that battle.

Ritsu and Arashi in Operetta, Izumi and Arashi in euthanasia, they were all concerned about Knights ending up like Chess, filled with a bunch of lazy members who would just coast along to their fame and not really do anything. But because of how strict Tsukasa was in Meowsketeers, how stubborn he was about how they were treated in Seven Bridges, how insistent he was through most of the !! events about training and investing in them, the newbies are now hardworking, loyal members to Knights.

Tl;dr: Knights kouhais were necessary tools to showcase Tsukasa’s leadership skills and how different Knights are now from Chess, hope this helps <3. Tsukasa is a LIAR, who says he neglected his kouhais but he’s fought basically everyone in Knights to keep them there. Ritsu is also the ultimate kouhai advocate, maybe even more than Tsukasa himself, and always comes up with a way to help them. IzuAra aren’t too happy, but Arashi still does her best to support Tsukasa, and Izumi ends up armstrong into training the kouhais too in Mad Part LOL. Leo had his Opinions, but ultimately he wants to support Tsukasa, as the old king supporting the new king. Knights kouhais are all stubborn hardworking babies who LOVE Tsukasa, and I’ll keep brainrotting over then as long as happyele keeps giving me Tsukasa being cute with them!

4. Conclusion: two kings?

We still have Knights climax story to go, a guaranteed Tsukasa 5* event. My prediction is that it will pick up from where Sudden Death left off, mostly on Tsukasa’s feelings of how he failed as a leader and how his seniors AND his kouhais still supported him after that.

Back when !! released, there was an interesting plot thread that was thrown in and then forgotten: Leo and Tsukasa acting as the two kings of Knights.

Tsukasa is too belligerent in the new arc, according to main story, and Leo usually acts as the face of Knights, to direct any ill comment towards him instead of at Tsukasa. Leo talked more about it in his first idol story, if I’m not mistaken, saying it confused the fans and how it looked like Knights had two Kings now, and that they might need to solve this with a Judgment lol.

And then that plot thread was just. Completely forgotten and dropped LOL. With Leo being shipped off to Italy with Izumi, supposedly Tsukasa was free to act as the absolute King and ultimate face of Knights, right?

I think that might be brought back after Sudden Death, though. We might get some conflict about how his actions led to Knights defeat, especially contrasted with how Leo wasn’t there to take the brunt of it. We were told the fans weren’t happy at all about what happened, in Parallel World Nazuna comments the fans were MAD at Crazy:B lol. So who knows, maybe the ultimate test of Tsukasa’s leadership is still to come.

It might just be my wishful thinking tho because I want leokasa gay fighting again <3

Rambles about the Conscience of the King cuz it gave me brainrot last night

You know after reading some stuff, while I my angst loving self is bummed the whole “Kirk witnessed/survived a genocide,” won’t get brought up again, I’m kinda glad. It’s rare for protagonists to have something that traumatic happen to them while also having it not get brought up all the time. And I did like the way we see Kirk’s past influence him in the episode. Like he cared for the Doctor and believed an outlandish claim like “I have invented a new synthetic food source,” at the start but when the truth is revealed Kirk denies it. He wants this part of his life to stay buried and he uses the ship as cover. “How am I going to be able to explain this in my report?” Only after looking into it a bit did he realize a criminal might actually be on the loose and decided to investigate. His flirting with Kodo’s daughter appeared to be more playful, even genuine. Like he actually thinks she’s pretty but also wants information. But then the doctor was murdered.

And this snaps something in Kirk, tho he will try to not show it and nearly the entire enterprise crew doesn’t pick up on it. But after this, Kirk throws the Enterprise off course and his advances on Kodos’ daughter seems more of an act. She even basically calls Jim out for fishing during one of their “romantic,” walks around the ship. He gave her a tour to try to get her to trust him but this tour gave her the run of the ship, which let her track down and nearly murder the only other still living survivor, Riley, after Kirk moved him to engineering for safety.

I made a separate Sorta joke post as I was watching the story about Jim’s weirdass smile here but it’s true.

Jim is not in a good headspace here. He’s recklessly making decisions under the guise of seeking justice but leaving everyone he cares about out of the loop b/c it’s his personal business and he doesn’t want them to get hurt and he is attempting to bury his emotions to focus on this mission.

Aka basically what Spock just did in the Menagerie.

And so of course, Spock notices this instantly. And unlike Kirk, who was in denial about Spock’s lie until it was irrefutable, Spock follows logic, figures out what’s going on, and confronts Jim with Bones to make him see reason. That he’s needlessly risking his life here. And I think this is what ultimately snaps Kirk back to reality. Cuz after this he’s way less reckless. (The phaser nearly killing everyone on his deck also helped but still)

Kirk still confronted Kodos, even had the execution order he apparently memorized (god that is a whole other can of worms), but importantly, he’s almost sympathetic here. Like he sees a broken man and doesn’t want to take that away from him. He’s piecing together that Kodos isn’t the one killing the survivors.

And I like that Kirk stops Riley from killing Kodos but then still attempts to arrest Kodos before it all goes to shit. Kirk wants justice, not vengeance.

Best episode so far. I know these episodes were filmed out of order but whoever made the call to have this air after the Menagerie, thank you it works perfectly.

I'm back in my Starter Squad brainrot so uh.. here's some speculation + Squirtle character analysis:

I got back to the Starter Squad brainrot and I decided to rewatch it again in the backround while I did some routine stuff and there's something on my mind that I haven't seen ppl talking about yet. Spoilers ahead:

So, I was watching the compilation of the 10 episodes (I usually just watch them separately, so I think that's why I hadn't noticed it till now), and in the switch between ep 9 and 10 it's not just them stiched together, but there's this little noise. An echo of a saved file and a glitch, and then bam episode 10.

I was honestly mostly surprised bc I expected them to show that one post-credit scene in ep 9, with the caterpie wearing Charmander's head as a hat, but they didn't, instead there's those sounds.

Now, it might just be a cool indication that 1) that moment had consequences (save file sound) and 2) of Missigno still being around (glitch), which is not a problem at all tbh, if that's the case it's a pretty neat way of showing it, but idk there's something scratching at the back of my mind about it.

Now, this isn't really a theory as much as it is speculation, and I'll be honest, I'm most likely ovethinking this, bc there's not really a bunch to go off of, but eh it's a fun concept to think about so I'll do it anyway:

I think episode 9 might have more than 1 ending.

And I think this will have to do with whatever Wartortle is gonna ask at the gods in the mountain.

So, episode 10 is mostly centered around time. There are alot of things that it talks about, but time is like the little bow that ties it all together.

Specifically it's mostly about being stuck in the past, about how the past affected the present, usually with too much or too little time being the biggest issue.

Too little time to save Charmander, too much time letting the war continue.Too little time spent on actually getting to know the kids you decided to take care of (what drove Turtwig away), too much time to actually see results in training (what drove, between other things, Chimchar away)

Squirtle is mostly shown to be a character here that either does too little or too much as well, especially after Charmander's death.

He did too little to save his friend, he did too little/pretty much nothing to stop caterpie over the years, he did too little to actually be a good father/uncle figure to Chimchar and Turtwig in the ways that mattered.

He did too much when trying to apprehend Charmander, attacking him to the point the guy was almost dead even BEFORE Caterpie stabbed him; he did too much during the war, having it implied that he was the main fighter, to the point where the conflict only actually ended when Squirtle was let go; he did too much trying to protect the kids, he was sheltering them because he was terrified them getting hurt like his friends did, but that only drove them apart from him further.

And he already did that before, but it was in contexts with fewer consequences. It's usually that one song and dance of doing too little and then bam, something happens and the guy goes all out (either on purpose or on accident).

With his human trainer? He does very little to get out of his situation, even trying to fake that he's actually 'very happy here, no really stop laughing, guys'. And then bam, he screams at him and is overjoyed to see him dead later.

With the first caterpie encounter? 'Welp, sucks to be them', then bam Bulbasaur accidentally guilt-trips him into saving them and he shows up running with a shiv, taking almost everyone down accidentally, but still, the guy went in swinging.

Hitmonchan? 'Bulbasaur is with a real trainer now, we're not bringing him back, he's better off without you', and then bam, Charmander apologizes and says he needs his help and he decides that 'hey how about we break a frigging pokeball. No idk what's gonna happen, but it will probably be bad, so we win right?'

The forest king? He keeps waffling the whole episode, going along with the forest king's antics and talking about empathy, and then bam, the guy starts being too annoying and he just holds him down and tells Charmander to kick his ass. Bonus points in this one because he is totally against raiding a pokémon center and at the end he just let's it happen.

And the thing is, Squirtle/Wartortle is somewhat aware of this flaw, even as a kid, but he doesn't really understand the full thing. He knows he does too little, but didn't seem aware that him going all out immediately afterwards was usually just as harmful.

With Charmander it's where we see this in full affect, as soon as he becomes friends with him, he goes all out in trying to make him a better person. He usually fails, but still tries, and we can see that Charmander becomes more mellow because of this, either because he genuinely wants to become better or because he doesn't want Squirtle to be disappointed. It goes to the point where Squirtle seemingly sees Charmander's actions as his own fault just as much as it was the fire-type's, which he says in his episode 9 speech:

"How did I ever thing I was making a difference with you, you took so many innocent lives, and all I did was stand there!"

"… We were supposed to be a team, Charmander, but you were only in this for yourself and I couldn't fix you. But thanks to them I can finally fight back!"

He lectures Charmander alot, but he never actually fought him. He never genuinely tried to hurt him after they were on the same team, because he was the voice of reason. In his mind, this was him doing too little, and like always bam, he goes to the other extreme and does too much.

Like yeah, Caterpie did the finishing blow, but Squirtle did most of the damage, not just because of the type advantage, but because Charmander didn't seem to even TRY to fight back as soon as his friend showed up.

His flame was almost extinguished. Squirtle almost killed the guy, a mixture of him wanting to make sure Charmander wouldn't hurt anyone else, pent up anger and him wanting his friend to know what it was like to be on the other side of the fight ( "Oh, I'm sorry, did you want a turn?" "Seems kind of unfair, doesn't it?!").

In episode 10, he doesn't really talk about that part, he just says that he wished he could've done things differently at Turtwig's "you didn't just jump in and save him?" (Which implies that they probably heard a censored version of the story before, which highlights how much he shelters the kids)

And I think it's probably because he doesn't see it as THE issue. Again, he is aware that he does too little, which is his reason on going all out at everything else, something he never outgrew. Even at the end of episode 10, he has his big revelation, but it's still incomplete:

Again, he only realizes that he does too little. He did too little to save Chimchar, he did too little to stop Caterpie. Too little to stick by his own choices.

And caterpie was right in that flashback, I mean they also say some ouchie stuff, like how they pity whoever gets control of him next, but Squirtle sees this moment as him doing too little. Caterpie, however seems to understand that it's a mixture of both too little and too much:

It's not just 'You let me do whatever I wanted', it's also 'you gave me complete loyalty'

They also seem to at least somewhat understand why he does it, out of fear.

And Squirtle goes back to his pattern, but this time seemingly about his own self preservation and his guilt.

He's first, willing to go back, doing what he was told like he's a soldier again. It's the best thing for his self-preservation, but for him and his morals/ideals? It's a step backwards.

Then he has his revelation, and he goes all in, clearly screaming at the other pokémon as if he was screaming at himself. Not just that, he goes all in and bam, not only finally evolves, but legit kills the guy.

And the most important aspect of it all in this scene:

"If I'm gonna make bad choices, they're gonna be my own."

Because after this, yeah the episode pretty much ends, but he does not go back to the old song and dance. Squirtle usually follows his pattern of too little, too much, too little, too much,…

And he did the "too much" aspect, so you kind of expect him to calm down a bit, but he doesn't.

He looks at his dead kid, he talks about how if he had evolved he would've given them hell (Which let's be honest, it's not true at all. I do think he was already seeing the kids for who they were a bit, but it was clear that he was still putting him in that "Charmander" box. No offense to Chimchar, but Abomasnows are at least level 40, he was at most level 13.)

Anyway, he talks to his frozen body, and instead of going back to his "too little" thing, he remains on too much, and this is one of his biggest to date: he literally goes and decides 'actually, I'm sick of this, I'm gonna go up there and fight the gods or die trying. No I don't have a plan, no I don't know what I'm gonna ask them yet, what of it?', which was cool as hell to see, but let's be honest here, half of his main problem is still alive and stronger than ever.

"Okay, Babz, but what does this have to do with the sounds between episode 9 and 10?"

I'm getting there.

So they were going up Mt. Coronet, and Wartortle is going up there because he wants to talk to the gods, and in that mountain there are three: Arceus, Dialga and Palkia. It's where Arceus made those two even.

And yeah, Arceus is all powerful, but I'm gonna focus on Dialga here since them and Palkia are pretty much the mascots of the Sinnoh region.

Dialga is the god of time.

Time began flowing when they were born, and they can turn back the clock.

(Like okay Super Smash Bros trophys are not the best place to look into but this was the quickest example I could find so bear with me):

If you're ever running late, maybe you could ask Dialga to turn back the clock… Just a little bit?

Arceus in recent stuff is shown to turn back the clock too, but idk if that should be considered.

Anyway, what I'm saying is, turning back time is something Wartortle could potentially do if he wanted, especially if he wins a fight. It's extreme, sure, but the guy is still in his "too much" gig, so if given the possibility he would most likely accept it without much thought.

And yeah, again, this is mostly speculation. I was thinking about alot of this since last year (a bunch of ppl here were also talking about possible time-travel, but like me, it was mostly in a "cool idea"/"fix it au" kind of context), but since there didn't seem to be foreshadowing aside from the character arc and location (which again, can JUST be a character-arc, it's not just bc something CAN happen that indicates that it WILL), I left it alone for the most part.

But idk these little sounds almost seem like a clue.

And okay, I'm mostly someone who focuses on themes when talking about story theories/possibilities, and episode 10's is, again, centered around time and regret. Regret for the past, not enough time to change it fits a little too neatly you know?

The fact that episode 9 ends on a cliffhanger also doesn't help. At the time it came out I was not just wondering if Charmander was still alive, but also WHO was stabbed. It was one of the reasons why I was so interested when ppl started talking about "what if Squirtle was the one who was stabbed" scenarios and drew/wrote stuff for the shiv au, because back when the episode came out I genuinely thought it was a possibility and I wanted to explore it.

Grandma is def gonna be a running joke sdkfs.

So Duet of Time (Dot) is a roleplay with me and heaven (number 3 out of four?? how many do we have lmao) and its basically a corpse bride au where-

Tp Zelda wanders upon Hero Shade's (Oot Linkor as we call him bone grandpa) grave a few days before she marries tp Link and practices her vows. Shade wakes up believing its his Zelda because the vows she said were a promise he and his Zelda did before he died (he also needs glasses cause he's 8ft tall and tp zelda is 6ft and Spirit(oot zelda/ spirit grandma) was also 8ft and how he confused them idk)

ANYWAY, he and Zelda go to a in between realm that he thinks is the Spirit Realm but its not where Zelda is like "im not your Zelda, Hero of Time" and he's like "wdym of course you are" (he just wants his zelda back okay, its been 300 years since he's seen her). In the meantime Spirit wakes up and discovers that Shade has pulled a grave mistake(pun intended) and goes to tp Link for help. And to explain the grandma joke its that Link believes he's the descnedant of oot zelink because he's heard as a kid all these stories of how they were so in love, etc.. so when he sees Spirit he's like "Grandma!" but she's like "oh sweet summer child" and learns that he's just Shade's desendant which means his ship never got married and decides to pull an irl fix it fic lmao.

The Hero of Time found himself circling in his his grave for the umpteenth time since his supposed regrets had eased. Although he was able to live in the Spirit Realm, his soul could not simply just leave the mortal plane, not until she came.

Zelda. His dearest princess who he vowed to forever stand by, even after death claimed him. He could remember the agony and sorrow that wore on her soul when she buried him beneath the tree of his former guardian, the regrets that weighed heavy upon them. They both had yearned for a happy life, a life to spend together until death came and they could be spirits living in the afterlife for eternity. But destiny seemed to be cruel to those who are goddess blessed.

Since that day he uttered a promise for her, that he would not leave until she came for him. That he was forever bound to her, that his devotion and love was stronger than death and their cursed destiny itself. Then, the ancient hero felt a presence come closer to his resting place. A very familiar presence. Could it be? Was it possible that his waiting was finally over?

May I always be by your side to alleviate your burdens.

If he had lungs, Link's breath would have hitched. It was her promise, the very same she had whispered when he returned from Termina and wept in her arms. It was her.

Our love is stronger than death itself.

With the ring falling perfectly onto his finger, Link tethered his spirit to his old body. He arose from the earth, leaves, dirt and plants wrapped around his golden armor. The cool crisp night air blew through his bones, the moonlight hit the back of helmet shadowing the person before him. He looked down to her, his glowing eye softening at who he saw.

I’m having brainrot over this Neutral ending.

I 100% believe it might be the saddest for me,

& It’s DEFINITELY the worst for anyone who ships Alphyne as hard as I do because- they both just get such?? Shitty endings??

And I need to get my thoughts out about it so, here we go;

((TW: Suicide, Self-Hatred, Depression))

So, from Undyne’s perspective, she had been trying RELENTLESSLY to kill you - you were the final SOUL. The last human they needed. 

The time passage between SOULs collected seems to have been quite a loooong time. Gerson is the only monster you find that’s old enough to have even remembered a time when Toriel and Asgore were together, before Asgore waged war on humanity.

The Underground’s one hope has lied in getting to the surface. In collecting the 7 SOULs. Almost every Echo Flower in Waterfall says as much, and given its hearty population of monsters, we’re inclined to believe these must be relatively recent.

Canonically its been a thing long before Undyne even met Asgore (supported by the fact that she doesn’t recognize Toriel,)

So Undyne grew up amongst a population burning for this desire. And she was spurred to join the Royal Guard partially because Asgore trained her. King Asgore, the one who was supposed to free everyone. Not only did she feel a duty to her people, she felt a duty to her friend - a man who may’ve been something of a father figure to her.

And she didn’t become the Captain of the Royal Guard out of nepotism. You know, the group of knights exclusively dedicated to killing humans to collect SOULs (considering there’s very little in the way of crime in the Underground, and Toriel and Papyrus both concede that there’s no point for a Royal Guard without humans to fight).

She fought to the top with “grit and determination alone”.

All this to say; collecting all 7 human SOULs is her number one goal in life. Granted, she is as much a protector of her community, and even a “local hero” according to many - but that all comes with her very real determination to free the Underground. Which itself is born from a desire to give monsters hope, give her friends better lives, and take revenge on humanity.

Yes, she even carries a strong desire to make humanity pay despite never having even been alive to know them. Because she knows that when it comes down to it, the despair in the Undeground all goes back to them.

And this is putting aside her own actual respect for humanity, born from watching and reading Alphys’s “history books”.

Her commitment to her ideals is that strong.

So it can’t be stressed enough how monumental it was that she eventually managed to befriend Frisk. How much her love for a friend must have won out over such a strong desire to free her people.

She doesn’t even give up on collecting SOULs. I mean, how could she? She’s in this deep, and doesn’t see any other way to give the Underground the justice and security it needs. Simply resolving to take it from some “mean human”.

But she lets you go. Delays their freedom for a bit longer.

(Now, I know some people out there will interject to say she had already let you go when you decided to save her from heat exhaustion in Hotland. But I think I might make another post clarifying why I believe this wasn’t exactly the case. This one has gone on long enough 😫.)

Point is; in this ending, all of that is applicable. Everything she went through. And her final decision to spare you.

And then, you go and murder someone. 

Specifically, in this case, Mettaton. Granted, you could easily just get a neutral run by killing a Vulkin or someone. But it makes it all the worse if you JUST kill Mettaton.

Because how could she possibly know that you killed him?

(And she does know that, if indeed he’s the only person you actually kill, as evidenced by Papy’s dialogue.)

It stands to reason that only one person could’ve told her this information. Because the only one who was there to see the aftermath...was Alphys.

There was no one else in that room.

And take note of Papyrus’s choice of words; SHE SAID you killed someone.

Alphys did not announce this to the world, otherwise Undyne wouldn’t have needed to tell him

And hell, from Papy’s choice of words, it seems to imply that Undyne didn’t even tell Papyrus who it was you killed. Most likely because he’d be heartbroken to know a person he befriended went on to kill the celebrity he stans like nothing else. She wanted to spare her friend from that news, even though she’s currently going through the most miserable point in her life.

But anyways, the only thing that could’ve happened was that Alphys told Undyne this fact privately.

Imagine how terrible she would’ve felt. Knowing that she spared you, allowing you to kill someone. Someone who was the close friend of a girl she was in love with. How much that must’ve hurt Alphys.

And then Alphys “disappears”. Something Papy seems to believe you’re responsible for - likely then something that was told to him by Undyne, who also believes you were responsible for making Asgore disappear.

It’s hard enough on her to lose Asgore.

He was her mentor, one of the few to look upon this hotheaded kid with not just empathy - but with a promise to help her hone the abilities she longed to have.

It gets even worse when you consider the fact that she doesn’t blame you for his “disappearance” in a regular Pacifist route - obviously she only has a problem with this fact when she believes you killed him out of cold blood, versus self-defense (and she does seem to imply that she genuinely believes you killed him, regardless if you tried to).

She’s a knight, and does understand that some duels are inevitable. But in this ending, she gives you no such leeway. You killed Mettaton when you didn’t have to. You broke Alphys’s heart. And then you took two of the most important people in her life away from her.

Back to Alphys- because, god, does that part hurt.

I think it’s well known by now that in a couple of endings, it’s implied that Alphys commits suicide. She’s hinted at being suicidal in plenty of playthroughs, specifically:

When you call Undyne & Papyrus in the dump,

and when Alphys confronts you in the True Lab,

In three different endings, she “disappears” for unknown reasons. Two of them you have to have killed Mettaton, one of them you have to have killed Undyne.

So it stands to reason WHY she disappeared then.

And of course, these endings all must occur without you dating Alphys and leading to her solving her crippling self-doubt and guilt in the True Lab.

But think about why she takes the decision to end her own life in THIS Neutral ending.

First of all; you’ve killed someone who was one of her only friends, Mettaton. Granted, he stopped treating her like one when he made it big, but he’s one of the only recent positive contacts she had. Other than perhaps Bratty and Catty, although this friendship was implied to have fizzled out way before Mettaton’s.

But I don’t think it’s just that she misses Mettaton.

No, she feels responsible for his death.

Think about it from her perspective - in this run, you aren’t a cold blooded killer for the majority of it. Alphys never sees you kill. She seems to believe you’re this wonderful anime-esque protagonist who goes around befriending everyone you meet.

And so, she starts up an elaborate scheme to become your friend and convince you to not kill Asgore. She hires Mettaton to be the “villain”. To be a malfunctioning robot who she asks you to defeat.

Then, all of a sudden, in the climactic showdown, where Mettaton reveals she was supposed to come in and “save” you from her - the door locks.

She later calls you, saying she can’t see what’s even going on in there, and reveals how to make him “vulnerable” enough to keep him from hurting you (which she seems to believe is certainly a possibility) - 

And then you kill Mettaton.

She’s not just faced with the loss of her friend, but with the fact that she CAUSED it. That she was the one who made Mettaton the “villain”. Who ended up putting you both in harms way.

She doesn’t even blame you for killing him. Why would she? No, she blames herself. Like she always does.

She even tries to dissuade any guilt you might feel by brushing it off.

And it all becomes too much for her. At some point, she tells Undyne the news, which no doubt makes Undyne blame herself for even letting the human go. And then...she ends it all.

And Undyne has to know why. She has to know why Alphys ended up taking her life. How heartbroken Alphys must’ve been to have lost Mettaton - she may’ve even let onto the fact that she believes it was all her fault.

And it’s all “because” Undyne let you go.

All she can do is mumble on about how she wasn’t able to “protect her”.

Undyne, who’s made it her mission to protect everyone. Who saw Alphys as a beautiful soul who was more than her insecurities. Who served as a positive force in her life, and in some timelines, the kickstart to getting Alphys to start working on herself.

SHE thought it was HER job to protect Alphys. And that she failed at it. Felt she was partially responsible for her death.

And that she never even got to tell her she was in love with her.

With Alphys and Asgore gone, the guilt of their disappearances weighing on her mind - as well as the death of another person that could’ve been prevented...

She gives up.

Think about that, after all the determination she’s had in the past - hell, in every other playthrough, she gives up.

All that hope has been washed away.

Every other neutral ending features Undyne keeping on in some fashion - even if she’s wallowing in despair. Even if she’s about to die.

Overthrowing the Queen when she attempts to call off killing humans (in an ending where you’ve killed Papyrus, Asgore has disappeared, and Alphys has disappeared);

Promising to destroy you (after having killed non-Boss monsters after befriending her);

Literally developing Determination out of the sheer will to live despite you killing her (in any run you kill her in);

I don’t think I need to even say anything about the No Mercy run-

But this is the only run she gives up on it all. On revenge, on finding a way out of the Underground, on thinking she’ll ever be able to protect anyone again - or forgive herself for letting all her friends get hurt...for letting one of her closest friends hurt herself...

It’s fucking heartbreaking.

*grabs mic* Alright, I had to think on this a bit. I always seem to have a hard time picking definitive favorites. (Also it took me a while to word everything just right.) Also, gonna add a read more since I think this is gonna get long.

5) Dragon Ball

The irony of this being being in my top five is that I remember when I was a dumb child who thought I wouldn’t like it.

Literally. When I was in early elementary school, my best friend and her younger brother were sleeping over one day; so we were in the basement and watching TV, and there was en episode of DBZ on that they wanted to watch, but I did not. Like, to the point of looking away from the TV with my hands over my ears. (Young me was so dumb.) All I remember was that it was an episode with King Kai in it.

And then in 2014, my older brother got into Dragon Ball, so he was telling me about the characters and stuff; and then one day he decided to show me a clip on YouTube, and that clip was Goten vs Ekosa (idk why that one). And the he introduced me to Abridged, so for a while all I watched was random clips on YT and Abridged.

And then later that summer Battle of Gods came out in theaters in the US, so we went to see it. A bunch of his friends were supposed to see it with us, but they didn’t buy tickets ahead of time and it was sold out by the time we got there, so it was just my brother and I. And then on the way home, he was telling me about this website (that has since been shut down I think) called dbz.tv that had all of DB/Z/GT and all the movies in English.

So it was with that website that I watched all of OG DB. But this was back when I had my old desktop computer with the 8pm curfew and all these website restrictions. So what I did was sneak downstairs whenever possible and watch it on my mom’s iPad. And then after that, I went on to Z, which I never fully finished; I either stopped at the filler episode of Gohan and the robot, or after the fight with Vegeta when they were loading Goku onto the aircraft to go to the hospital.

And a couple month ago, I thought to myself “I should revise DB” and now I'm here, spiraling in brainrot.

4) Fairy Tail

The second anime I’ve ever seen. Also I don’t remember if I knew that Pokémon was an anime when I got into Fairy Tail, so this might’ve been my introduction to anime in general.

I was introduced to Fairy Tail one day at a friend's house. Their family actually had Netflix so we watched the first episode together. And then I went looking for somewhere to watch it online, and I just ended up down the rabbit hole. (This was also the first show I ever made an OC for; if I ever revisit her, she's gonna need a lot of reworking.)

I’ve also been considering rewatching some time soon, and I gotta get caught up on the sequel manga, so probably expect more posts/reblogs on it some time soonish.

3) Fire Emblem

Another one I got into via my brother. I think Awakening had recently come out, and he was telling me about the plot, and then one day he let me do a playthrough on his copy. I remember after I got Donnel, he did the grinding for me to get him to a point where he’d be usable and good in battle.

Although, I was not very good at the game back then. I sucked at strategy and knew NOTHING of other class lines to reclassify into or skill inheritance, which is why my Donnel!Nah got Sol instead of Aptitude and my Frederick!Yarne got Luna (they did wreck quite a bit of shop on the battlefield though). And there were a number of characters that I never used, so there were a number of 2nd gen units that I never got. Like I said, I sucked.

That save file is long since gone. And over time, as the years have passed and I’ve played more games, I've gotten somewhat better.

2) Lilo & Stitch

A classic. I have seen the first movie so many times; I used to quote it with my best friend all the time; I still quote it quite often. I remember waking up real early some Saturdays just to watch the TV show. Also I recently got the remaining two movies that I did not already own on DVD for my birthday.

1) Pokémon

This may be kinda cliché, but I just really love Pokémon. Maybe it’s the nostalgia, but I can’t see anything else topping the list anytime soon. It’s always been there for me and always given the whole range of feels. Idk what more to say about it.

...I guess it's a fairly small roster, but I decided mostly putting together a bunch of faves from both franchises rather than focusing on gameplay and all, sorry. I'm a brainrot fangirl.

Needless to say, if we go by teams, Jin Xiao and Hwoa ARE a team (named Team Xiao because she would take advantage of her cheerleaders bickering about what name to use and register the team). But I also would make another team just to have Jin and Iori together. 😁

'IT' Discussions Pt. 2

Its been forever, but lets do part 2 of my IT brainrot. Same as pt 1 with Richie and Eddie, we're going into opposites, the use of character foils, etc but today with Stan and Bill. Now, I want to preface this by saying that theirs less use of opposites and digging for whats not there with these characters (and with Bev, Ben, and Mike) then there is with Eddie and Richie, but we're still doing this, because its still worth going into and the character foils make me froth at the mouth

Bill: Now, Bill is shown as a leader. He stops, and he thinks, even if its not always about the right thing (he's more concerned about georgie most the time than the others, and in the pt. 2 movie more worried about that kid than the others, but anyway). he thinks things through, and he leads- he may not be the bravest, but he's willing, and he brings them together, and thats something these kids always need. but if you really look at his actions, his words, etc- he's the impulse. for every time he thinks something through or tells the others they shouldnt do something, theirs two times he yanks them headfirst into a situationTM. just as much as he's the others impulse control, he's his own impulse.

Stan: this ones really, really fun for me. now, stan is always shown as being a good friend, but he's a kid and he's scared, and sometimes we can see that makes him think a bit more about his own safety than the picture at large (which, fair. not hating, just stating). he's shown to be sarcastic and a bit rude, which of course never hurts the others feelings, but its there. and he can be pretty apathetic to most things unless he's scared. BUT- and this is my favorite one of the buts- he's actually the most empathetic character. he can be completely fine, going through life or the situationTM of the day, and if he picks up on one of the others feeling uneasy or upset, he is too, and he (if not Bev) is the one to help calm down or ease the others most of the time. so not only is he a true empath, constantly feeling and picking up on what the others feel, he's empathetic in how he helps them and does his best to understand his friends, so despite how he can be shown as snippy and uncaring, he's a teddy bear empath through and through

And now, my favorite part, the comparison of them and character foils. lets jump in

like i said in pt. 1, every action has its equal opposite reaction- King used his character foils for the action and reaction, and because these two are character foils, every action Bill goes through has its equal opposite reaction to Stan, just like eddie and richie. every time bills dad yells at him to stop, to let it go, to forget and just move on (abt georgie), stans dad is pushing and pushing him to remember and to practice and to stop running around town and just sit down and focus (abt his torah). (the torah and a dead little brother are of course very different, but the action and reaction are the same idea of it all). every time bill cant sleep because his mom is crying while playing the piano and he's wishing he could relax, stan is forcing himself to sleep because the more he sleeps the less he has to worry about his bah mitzvah and having nightmares about suddenly forgetting his word in the middle of it. obviously this is very different from the way i described eddie and richie in part 1, and its a different situation for them, but thats because its different characters with different foils and the way King wrote them and etc this is how it goes.

so heres the thing, with these two, instead of having perfect direct differences and similarities, every one of their differences are so, so similar, and every one their similarites are so, so different. if richie and eddie are red and blue, complete opposites but mixing perfectly to make something beautiful, bill and stan are yellow and green, being made so much up of each other that when they mix, it just makes a different version of what is already there for both of them, and thats just as beautiful. instead of changing each other (for better OR worse) by being together and connected, they bring out the traits of each other that are the most hidden while still accenting what is most prominent. thats part of why i love these two so much and the way they work as characters and how they mix, and i cant wait to get more into titles and color theories of characters in another discussion.
