the thing is that the characters don’t really know what the (creator?) is like, so even if you and the imposter were entirely different people, it’d be difficult to see who’s real and who’s fake because, well, they don’t know you as a person. in fact, because the fake is so graceful and all, people would be more likely to think that they’re the real one.

though because i’m a sucker for drama, i think there’d be factions throughout teyvat, rallying behind you or the fake. some believe that the fake is real simply because they’re more elegant and ‘god-like’ in appearance, so to speak, all intimidating presence and authoritative voice. others believe you’re the real one because only the true god would be so in tune with nature and compassionate with all living beings, benevolent and empathetic and all the good parts that make you human. tho the humanity you have also serves as a double edged sword because it places you down the pedestal of what they think a god should be.

among the archons, the ones i see rallying behind you are venti and nahida. as for the imposter, it’d be zhongli and ei. (though i imagine zhongli would soon see through the fake simply because of how old and knowledgable he is.)

i understand getting really deeply and personally attached to fictional characters (i do it all the time) but i think too many people fall into the trap of interpreting criticism (or honestly just differing opinions that aren’t even necessarily negative) of characters they love as personal attacks.

not every character or every piece of media is for everyone. some people are not going to like your Favorite Thing. and that is OK. it’s ok if you’re a little hurt by people saying they didn’t like your favorite character.

but what isn’t ok is taking that hurt out on the person who you disagree with. you don’t get to tell someone they’re a bad person for not liking your favorite show or for having a different favorite character.

yes, some people are just assholes and will call others dumb for liking a certain character. but if someone isn’t saying that? if they’re just sharing an opinion on the public opinion sharing website? maybe don’t go into their replies and tell them why they’re wrong for not having the same opinion as you. maybe you don’t need to tell them why they’re a terrible human being. maybe don’t put words in their mouth and interpret everything they say in poor faith.

maybe, just maybe, you can keep scrolling. if what the other person is saying is Just An Opinion and not spreading hate, maybe you don’t need to tell them every reason why they’re wrong.

sometimes people have different opinions than you. and most of the time, neither of you are right or wrong. most things we all have opinions on are not dichotomous, so we’re all bound to have varied thoughts on whatever the Thing at hand is. that’s just how it goes.

my like i guess take/personal view of joker is that he's only able to help akechi because the other phantom thieves showed him kindness and love,

if we use the chain metaphor joker locked his heart away , he felt mad, betrayed and confused , and just to me joker at the start is a very just cold person,

but then he meets the thieves and little by little his chains begin to break then he meets akechi and a river suddenly overflowing, its very sudden and hard to control because he realizes he finally can allow himself to love

i like that idea, but i also like the idea that its a two way street! im of the unpopular opinion that akechi likely wouldnt have done the same thing if he had been afforded the same thing in jokers shoes & circumstances. I say this because as joker people reaching out to you is just as important as reaching out to them and helping and spending time with them and connecting to them. theoretically in the game dynamics you could claim that joker is partially (or only) doing this to gain the confidante points and power up, but to me i only see that as a dynamic of the persona games. i really do feel storywise like joker is reaching out to others because he cares and wants to help them..... for example, even if the player themselves does not want to help a confidante, jokers dialogue options dont allow for that!

in contrast, i do think akechi was not in the worst possible position that he couldnt have "gone back" in a sense and reached out for help and helped other people too. of course, we dont have an inside look on akechi's life, but even at a more shallow look at things it does seem that he had options to turn back and he didn't. from his position as a detective, i think he would have had a lot of connections both from his work and even in the metaverse of finding people that could have helped him. i personally think that this mentality of akechis is interesting and kind of funny that he wanted revenge so bad that he was willing to forsake everything else. of course, its all up for interpretation....

but yeah, i really do think that his case was not necessarily a case of "i had to do this and there was no other choice because the adults made me" like mishima, but more of him actively, choice by choice, damning himself. of course, i dont think that his story can be divorced from adults using and abusing kids, but again, to me, PERSONALLY i see akechi as the type to throw others under the bus until the system eventually turns on him. in the end i also dont see akechi as genuinely remorseful of his actions, in that he actively grieves and regrets the lives hes taken. i think that he regrets the path that his life took and the fact that he was used in turn, but i think theres a kind of disconnect: he may regret that he killed, but i dont think he feels for the life that was lost, both with the mental shutdowns and the psychotic breaks, or the collateral damage.

even in third semester, (and while again. it can be argued that theyre shadows and not people, or that he is simply blowing off steam) it really does feel like he wants to cause harm. and i dont see a change like 'i want to hurt someone/something' -> 'im hurting someone/something because im pissed about being used by someone' BUT ONCE AGAIN. my personal opinion. i think hes a ruthless kind of guy.

in the end with all this being said, i cant be certain that in jokers shoes he would act similarly or that in better circumstances he would act as kind! that isnt to say that i think akechi was always doomed to be an asshole and he could never reach out and be kind, or hell that the system wasnt to blame for him turning out this way. but i DO think the system was not the only thing to blame! i think he made a lot of choices and felt that he had no other path or choice, so he didnt LOOK. but even at the end joker and the rest of the phantom thieves reach out despite ALL that he has done. he was irrevocably a murderer, and a hand was still extended....

Hi! Im kinda new in the fandom and trying to get familiar with Jason as a character. Would you say that pre-crisis and post-crisis are too different regarding their personality? I’m aware of their different origin, but is it safe to assume that the way they behave, their choices and thoughts and feelings are different too? Or can both versions of jason feel like a continuity of the other with just a small change? Can both characterizations co exist? Thxs!

I wrote such a long answer for this but honestly it was unnecessary, tl;dr is that they're two different characters and their runs can't be read as a continuation of each other, but writers (and readers) pick and choose elements from both runs to consider canon, since during Infinite Crisis when Superman punched reality there was a merge of Jason's backstory, and there's elements of both since then. (And even before that!) You said you're new to the fandom so i'm not sure how much you know about that, but to make it short there was some cosmic event and both Jasons "merged" in one, its safe to say he's kept the stealing tires backstory ever since but sometimes writers use other pre-crisis elements.

(DISCLAIMER: i havent read dc in a while so i don't know if this still stands but given that last time i read comics "everything is canon" i'm assuming yeah. People feel free to correct me lol)

And about "is it safe to assume that the way they behave, their choices and thoughts and feelings are different too?" yes and no. They have similar themes in their characters (they're both traumatized kids experiencing their parents loss and having big shoes to fit, wanting to find their place as Robin/Bruce's son, etc) and have similar personality traits (good students, cheeky, stubborn, talked back to bruce and other adults) but to me their life experiences, and how their stories were handled sets them apart.

(by that i mean that pre-crisis Jason had a lot of more development than post-crisis and his relationship with Bruce was fleshed out more, while post-crisis we don't see that happen in.. real time i guess?. Plus pre-crisis bruce and post-crisis bruce is very different so that's a notorious change that affects jason's development as well)

Anyways, Pre-crisis is very fun so i recommend reading it regardless and then you decide what's still canon ^___^

Daniel saved Grace because he wanted to. If he stayed alive and saw their family dying, even the kids (he genuinely didnt give a fuck about those fuckers), he wouldn't blame Grace anyway. He wouldn't want to kill her, he wouldn't try to hunt her. If anything, he already believed all his family, including himself, deserve to die. He was that miserable and traumatized.

I genuinely believe that if he saw his entire family being blown up, but by the will of the devil stayed alive bc he actually tried to save Grace (and the devil finds it fun), he would've said a simple "Go." He would've told her to get out of there. He genuinely believed that Grace deserved better. The worst case scenario, Daniel would question why the hell did he stay alive when the only person in this family he genuinely cared about was Alex and now he died. He would've either tried to end his life then and there (after cursing at Le Bail, questioning on why, and still not getting killed even then. And I can even imagine Grace trying to protect him. Trying to convince him leaving with her, "We'll think of something. Daniel, please." Shielding Daniel from Le Bail.) Or Daniel would've become even more depressed & then it only depends if he finds reasons to live (and maybe seeks Grace out after a while, talking through this nightmare) or not.

But at no point in the story I think Daniel would've tried to hunt Grace down and kill her after he is so desperately tried to save her ("Alex might be in a wrong not to tell her, but do you remember how you reacted when I told you?"). Daniel tried to warn Grace at the very beginning but also didn't think it's his business (and he wanted Alex to be happy). It was very conflicting for him & I truly believe in him and his good personal treats. Also, Charity couldn't give a single fuck about Daniel and his well-being, only about the money, so why should I care? She didn't love Daniel and only insulted him again and again. Screw her.

You can believe otherwise, but not on my blog and not on my posts. This is a free Daniel x Charity & Alex x Grace zone. I won't elaborate any more than that (at least not at the moment).
