I keep thinking about (sapphic) alternate reality episodes where characters are willing to destroy the world they're in to get back to how things used to be with their beloved and/or best friend who is coded as their soulmate.

Like the Xena: Warrior Princess episode "When Fates Collide," where Gabrielle literally sets fire to the Fates' loom in order to get back to her life with Xena. And, upon their return to their own reality, Xena tells her, "You brought the world back to us."

Or in Wynonna Earp "Gone As a Girl Can Get," when Waverly is willing to blow up a barn with her and Nicole inside in order to get back the world where they were lovers (and get back her sister, too, I suppose). Nicole tells her, "Where you go, I go."

And then there's freaking Supergirl "It's a Super Life" where Kara employs her one wish from an interdimensional imp to repair her relationship with her best friend (ahem), Lena, and Lena in one seemingly perfect alternate reality tells Kara, "If we were partners, we could change the world," but Kara has to abandon that reality because she realizes she'd rather have Lena alive and hating her than risk her life.

But tell me again they're not a couple...

Wayhaught AU Fics

I LOVE Wayhaught AU fics. Don’t get me wrong, there’s something great about fics that involve canon. I enjoy the variations of Nicole as a cop fics, fics with revenants, that involve the curse in some way, etc. But there’s something about a good ol’ random AU fic that does my soul good. It’s probably because you can picture these 2 characters in such a vast amount of roles.

You can put them in high school, college, coffee shops, libraries, museums, gyms, office cubicles, you name it and it’s just good! I feel like it’s because when people write canon fics that they try to stay true to the source material as far as the lines put into the story or just following canon and filling it in. We know what happens, right? We watched the show.

So to be surprised with some random outta nowhere AU that we didn’t ask for but needed is just so nice sometimes. It’s so good. Any time I think I’ve read all there is to read, a random little fic named, ‘Double Cross’ pops up on my Twitter feed. The possibilities truly are endless which makes AU’s both fun to write and read.

Finished Wayhaught works!

As we head into the final hours of 2023, I wanted to thank everyone who read, commented, left kudos or reblogged my work on any platform.

For anyone who missed them, I finished three Wayhaught works in 2023 - perhaps some late holidays reading?

Worth Everything - historical AU, Nicole and Waverly live on opposite sides of the battle lines, but nothing can keep those two from getting together in the end...

Wolves in Eden - werewolves, modern AU set more or less in canon world. Waverly finds Black Badge to help look for her missing sister and finds a red wolf instead.

Wild Colonial Girl - set in colonial Sydney; will likely become a multi chapter in 2024.

Best wishes for your New Year's Eve celebrations and for 2024.
