Dude, , I just gotta ramble about Jevil and Spamton's character designs and how genius they are in a shape language sense..

(this is completely impulsive and I haven't played the game in like a few months by now so don't mind it if I misinterpret their personalities a bit. They're very blorbofied in my brain but I will put my biases for these literal criminals aside.)

First of all,, what is shape language? In short, it's a meaning we've attached to shapes in art, specifically character design in this case! Square is tough and reliable, triangle is dangerous and pointy and circle is friendly and approachable. There's more shapes and more theory but yaaawn no one's here for a lecture.

So onto the actual deltarune stuff, the secret bosses, Spamton and Jevil both have clear use of shapes throughout their design. Spamton relies very heavily on triangles while Jevil does so with circles.

Yet this seems to contradict their behaviour!

Jevil is in no way friendly, well, he was at some point. As a court fool it makes sense for him to be squishy and friendly, he's a walking squeaky toy meant to entertain. We don't know what exactly he looked like before being thrown in his prison, but we can assume that his body probably didn't change that much since he had no body morphing shenanigans going on like Spamton did.

But as he devolved and his games only got more and more violent, that squishiness is all gone. Yet when you walk in, you still see him like that,, luring you in a false sense of security until uhoh!! He's kinda fucked up in the head and wouldn't mind turning you into slices!!

Spamton on the other hand, is way less inclined to violence than Jevil. I mean, the way to unlock his secret bossfight in the normal route is by bartering with him, he even berates you for beating him up.

He prefers using his words over his fists to lure you in instead, and even offers you items with... Varying quality. But despite his insistence on being friendly and helpful and allat, his shape language betrays him, feeling almost dangerous to be around. He could poke you with that sharp nose and hair.

This only gets more clear with NEO, where he does resort to violence to get Kris' soul. His hair and armor are all straight up triangular shapes, he's no longer using reason! Attacking his strings is the only way to get through to him.

((This is not mentioning snowgrave btw, , Spamton is straight up a villain there, but funnily enough you don't even see him there until he's NEO, ,))

when sasuke sacrifices himself to save naruto against haku, naruto doesn’t get why sasuke would do that.

we as readers, have an idea because we are able to see sasuke’s memories with naruto, moments he cherished and found worth remembering in his deathbed (lol).

when sasuke says he can’t let his “precious comrades” die, naruto thinks of the moment with haku. he still doesn’t get it.

at the end of the manga, however, we have naruto teasing sasuke, about not being able to help yourself when “your body moves on its own”

and then in chapter 698, naruto says this to sasuke:

“because i’m (your) only one”.

he gets it now.

OBLIGATORY DISCLAIMER. my opinion on Silver is by no means the single correct one nor do i think it should be, do what you do idc. we're all here throwing him at a wall repeatedly for fun

Ok so. whats the point i wanted to make. oh yeah right

SILVER THE HEDGEHOG!!!! FUCK!!!!

his character is so interesting this is a character for sure. im screaming and crying etc etc. the unfortunate part is NO ONE GETS HIM. i see a lot of interpretations that cherry pick his personality and experiences and it just! isnt it! he is a complicated character!

trying to simplify him down to 🥺innocent soft boi🥺 doesn't work, not only cause you're ignoring his DEBUT GAME (NEVER FORGET HE TRIED KILLING SONIC) but also because you just disconnected him from his entire backstory and motivations. i see people making Silver into a "cinnamon roll" guy and it always makes me grimace because... do you know WHY he is clueless. do you know why he doesn't get things or is too trusting or this or that. its because he grew up in the apocalypse alone. he hasn't experienced anything normal or healthy in his entire life. and since these traits, which are used to make him into the innocent cinnamon roll, are a result of growing up in a very abnormal environment, are symptoms of having never been in social situations and never had a normal day-to-day life. this means you can't ignore the OTHER characteristics that result from it. by this i mean hes very independent, very stubborn and aggressively mean (i recommend watching any of Silvers interactions in the Rivals games. he is extremely confrontational and a very good example of the kind of behaviour i'm talking about). but since this doesn't fit the bill for the character that you want him to be, you remove the context. him being clueless has nothing to do with his background. hes anxious cause hes a smol bean, not because hes been drowning in responsibility and trauma for as long as hes been alive. hes kind because hes innocent, not because he chose to be despite it all

"but linnea! what about IDW! hes very innocent in that!" INCORRECT BUZZER. IDW is not the same. i'll admit, the writing isn't always what i want or expect for Silver, but there's something important for you to note here

Silver is ✨Recovering✨

from my perspective at least. what i see is Silver, who has actively been working together with other people for MONTHS. he has friends, a support net, as well as hobbies. these are things he didn't have before, and being with these people, in both calm and hard times, helped him. So what we are seeing isn't the trauma responses, we're seeing the result of being acclimatized into a healthier and safer position. that's why there's a change in behaviour. this doesn't mean hes a soft boy now. AGAIN hes complicated. be careful not to boil him down to a single trait. in IDW we still see moments where he experiences difficulties because of his past. examples include when he met Whisper, Failed Social Interaction and said this:

he struggles with boundaries! of course he does! he's still getting the hang of being around people

then also recently when he came to help Sonic in 58:

he is struggling!! with nothing to focus on! his default is fight fight save the future fight!! he's not used to normal life and that makes him anxious and frustrated, unable to focus on things he cares about, as we see in the future growth comic in the 2022 annual

there are likely more examples but idc. need to finish this post. continuing, Silver is complicated, meaning that even when he is aggressive and tunnel visioning on a task, he has more going on. one thing i fucking lovee LOVE love about Silver is that he has hope. fuck if i were him i think i'd have given up. THOSE horrors? every day? no thanks

Silver feels anguish and frustration and fear. this being said even at his angstiest moments he has hope. you cannot look me in the eye and tell me that Silver fought through every horrible disaster, coming back to a newly devastated world every time and decided to continue with no hope for a better future. he is determined and he has hope, even if he has to fight tooth and nail for it. Usually when i think about Silver and his odd optimism, i go back to '06, when he's having his moral crisis over killing sonic.

"To kill someone to save the world... is that really the right thing to do?"

it would've been understandable if he decided it was the right thing to do, even if sonic was someone who was kind and loved, because that's just how bad the world is. maybe its just me, but the way this thought broke through in spite of his bull headed focus on destroying the iblis trigger speaks to me about his nature as a person. even coming from the bleak world he came from and even with the tunnel vision he had, he still considered this one persons life to be important too.

he is, at heart, a very gentle and kind person. he is, at heart, someone who is strong and who wants to help others. a version of Silver that is sad all the time, unable to see the good in the world (a phenomena i don't see much of thankfully) isn't true to Silver as a character because its missing that core trait to his character, that he wants to help because he cares.

Silver can't be one or the other. one way ignores his background and his trauma, which leaves out important parts of his personality, the other just abandons a very integral part of who he is.

the point really is to say that (slaps roof of Silver) this bad boy can fit so much layers!

thinking so hard about the costuming in mac kills his dad. just all of them are soo good but charlie and macs as the episode progresses always catch my eye. the first meeting with luther is more hesitant from both of them despite macs persistence on the matter. in spite of charlie's reluctance to even show up, he does so again and again for mac because thats what his job is. theyre best friends. mac starts to slick his hair back again, like when they were little kids. he pulls on a leather jacket he hopes gives him an aura of someone much more threatening, a poor attempt at looking like dear old dad. his dad still doesnt say he loves him back. charlie dons the lawyer persona, a tie and yellow shirt. a mirrored image of his uncle, though charlie hopes he comes across better. they sit on the other side of the table from their mothers like a bad recreation of a scene years ago, but end up still seeming like boys playing dress up

Hannibal song of the day: song no. 10

A bit about the song:

"It’s No Good" (released in 1997) is a song by Depeche Mode and was written by Martin Gore. The song fits genres like synth pop, alternative rock and electro-pop, involving a smooth, dark sound with minimal sound-effect clutter and lots of reverb. It has a deep, recognisable melody and bass accompanied by various ambience sounds or synth sounds. The meaning of the song is quite vain and dark, presenting the protagonist who can’t accept their crush not liking them - They’re convinced that they are made for each other, divinely intertwined. They were most likely rejected and hit the first stage, the stage of denial.

i love this song along with the whole ultra album sm, i was so shocked to find out not many ppl like it????????? like what

but okay anyhow, another song that reminds me of how Hannibal views Will omgggg no waaayyyyyy

I will forever stand by the fact that Hannibal is a hopeless romantic (but i think all of us know that like... the whole human tree boquet, all the flowers being carefully picked? Hanni killing the judge for Will? giving himself up to the police so will always knows where he is? um? do i need to say more) - that why I even have this song in my playlist, as the protagonist seems like a hopeless and very persistent romantic themselves (and any depeche mode song tbh)

The protagonist feels like the person they're crushing on has to and will love them back - They feel like they have all the time in the world, they aren't planning on stopping liking them or trying to charm them, and are willing to be patient and wait for the day that their interest does like them back. Quite tenacious. The protagonist seems to be quite spiritual and a hopeless romantic, believing the two are meant to be together as it's written by the universe in the stars and pre-planned by God himself. The last line can be quite dark and desperate, considering that the protagonist says this is unavoidable and their crush should accept it. Overall the protagonist seems to be quite obsessed (totally not another reason as to why i chose the song...).

This feels like Hannibal so so much - no matter how many times Will seemed disinterested (Will stop fucking lying) or even tried to literally kill him, this bitch ain't giving up. He's really taking his time, never giving up on the idea of Will and him becoming closer, he doesn't want to give up. Will is the only person that seems to understand him, a person Hannibal sees himself in and he can also understand Will; He doesn't want that to go to waste. He made his goal to make Will his and he will achieve it; If he wants something, he will find a way to get it. It's pretty easy for him to do so, considering his vast knowledge of human psychology. He can understand people without them even saying a word about their emotions and he can influence others easily, it's an quite advantage to him(Will doesn't find him interesting? ok bet, he'll make him VERRRRYY interested:3).

And also to my surprise, Hannibal seems to be quite spiritual, even comparing himself to God or "playing God": "Killing must feel good to god too, he does it all the time. And are we not created in his image?". He enjoys the power and control it brings him, retaking what God took awy from him. He decides who lives and who dies at his hands. He is in control of his life and any person that appears in his life, it's like he writes the course of his and others lives - That's what happened with Will; Hannibal, the "God" that he is, has decided that they are soulmates and are meant to be in each other's lives forever - be it a delusion or correct, they are always coming back to each other, mainly due to Hannibal's actions. As I said, he will find a way.

The protagonist is assuming that their interest likes them - possibly telling them not to say it out loud in fear that it's not true. They prefer to assume and think that their crush likes them back as that's what feels real and secure to the protagonist, clearly not taking rejection well as they're trying to avoid the situation of a rejection completely. also, perhaps it's more romantic this way. Maybe they are sure of the fact that their interest likes them back, but the protagonist doesn't want it confirmed because they feel like they fully understand their interest telepathically, which they find more romantic. Could also tie to another Depeche Mode song, "Enjoy the Silence" - one of the interpretations for this song from a romantic perspective being that the protagonist wants to indulge in silent moments with his lover, not wanting to worry about words and just enjoy their lover's presence - for this song, the protagonist might also find words harmful and prefer silences.

For Hannibal, I feel like it's more the second one. One thing about hannigram, they can read and understand each other without speaking about it, well most of the time. Direct words don't seem to really do it for them, it doesn't feel as intimate as whatever gay shit they got goin on apparently. like really these bitches suck at communicating, they really don't wanna hear it or say it cuz rejection or they will get a boner and explode and cry and be vulnerable, the worst thing on this planet (i hear that "do u wanna be my big sweaty guardian alpha boyfriend WHAAAAAT WHO SAID THATWHOSAIDTHAT" sound as i type this)

"Don't say you're happy Out there without me I know you can't be 'Cause it's no good"

The protagonist really won't take the rejection and even though they assumes or wants to believe that their interest likes him back, since it isn't confirmed, they're afraid that it isn't true and are in denial, still trying to remind themselves that the two are made for each other and that their interest can't be happy without them, simply because it's no good(mainly for the protagonist).

cough cough Hannibal when will breaks up with him and gives himself up to the FBI cough cough

But no fr, this lyrics represents Hannibal's reaction so well. He can't accept that Will believes he can be happy without him, because he knows he won't be. He saw how he can be, he saw the adrenaline rushing through Will's veins turn into satisfaction, a genuine, though involuntary reaction - Hell, Will even confirmed it. He knows that Will felt understood by him and that's Hannibal's driving force, unlike the protagonist, for whom this is most likely just about his delusions and hopefulness(unless the protagonist interests is a sweaty anxious dog lover empath idk that he connects with at a spiritual level idk). Through the show it just becomes clearer and clearer that Will cannot be his genuine self with anyone else other than Hannibal. Will knows that, tries to ignore it, Hannibal knows it and isn't giving up, Bedelia knows it and is fed up with their shit. EVERYONE knows it (and everyone knows how destructive it is).

The two together are absolute menaces to society, but Will being away from Hannibal also makes everything worse. The longer Will doesn't accept that Hannibal understands him and accepts him, and he feels the same way about Hannibal, the longer he runs away, the worse it gets. He isn't happy, although he pretends to be. He built a carefully crafted, perfect family where he's a good father, caring for a widowed mother, living in the woods peacefully with their lovely hoard of dogs and are incredibly happy. But is Will happy? He thought he would be. He knew it isn't socially acceptable nor good to embrace that dark side, he has seen the effects of people who accept it. It isn't good, he shouldn't do it, he shouldn't succumb to his dark nature. Perhaps getting a stereotypically ideal family will help him feel normal and ignore it. Yeah, that will make him feel good and satisfy his need to care and nurture and feel like a white knight saving the day. It will definitely make him happy. Fake it till you make it. But is it really worth it when you have to put on a mask in front of your wife, someone you choose to marry and devote your life to, who fully trusts you and expects the same from you? How mocking it feels, when she's this open and sincere whilst you're lying to her every second about who you are. In the end she doesn't care for you, she cares for the person suit you carefully tailored out for her. But this is who you're supposed to be right? You designed this, it's genuine, no? It's just a heavily mediated version of who you are. Well, clearly not, since you see the ex that ruined ur life (tried to make u accept who u are) and immediately fold and leave ur wife lol

(man i need to be careful about my tenses and perspectives what is that, but not rewriting cuz idk how else to write it)

In the end, it's not good for Will, it's not good for Hannibal, no good for the rest of the people who gotta play fucking matchmakers and third wheel them as they flirt, this repression does nobody any good.

The protagonist is waiting, although getting impatient. They keep having hope that finally their interest will like them back, see that they are made for each other. They aren't giving up and seem to be so obsessed that they will continue to choose their interest over anyone else and be patient with them. They're hoping that their crush just needs some enlightenment and will suddenly love the narrator back after "opening their eyes". The worlds colliding are support to represent their minds and the tide, the inevitable and strong feelings the protagonist feels - it's like the protagonist already felt the tide, the emotions, powerful and sudden, hitting him, and is now waiting for their interest to be hit by the same tide.

Well, Hannibal does wait patiently. In the comfort of the psych ward Alana takes care off for him, having all the privileges, all the comforts he needs. He has enough patience to last the 3 years without breaking any rules. But ultimately, after Will said goodbye, he has left Will the option to come back and "run into his open arms". Hannibal giving himself up to the FBI was to make sure that Will can come back to him, if he changes his mind. He kept his arms open, expecting Will to come back. He knew he just has to let Will decide if he wants to do so for himself.

Will knew it was dangerous, he wanted to keep away from his as far as possible, be blind. He was well aware that Hannibal would be like a tide, powerful and merciless, he would swallow him whole once he gave in, which is why it took him so long. Like literally Jack had to come and fucking intervene and force Will back into the goddamn field like. fgfjoigfdigjjew

The only way that they would ever be back together was if their worlds, their minds, collided, and they did. Before, Will's and Hannibal's worlds were about to collide before Will hesitated and Hannibal didn't appreciate it. Jack and everyone encouraging Will, pushing him into the trap, made Will's and Hannibal's worlds collide. There was no coming back to who Will wanted to be after reconnecting with Hannibal - their worlds have merged and the damage done is way too severe now as his eyes opened, and he finally accepted his demise, letting the tide swallow him whole (just like that tide when they fell off the cliff💯).

in conclusion hannibal is pathetic and whipped, the dick is just too good

The idea of "Hikaru" making infrasounds while being all devouring (or hell just existing in the same space) is haunting me, especially after reading the newest chapter.

(Adding a cut even tho its not a very long post just cause)

Its known as like the "fear" or "ghost" frequency and the kind of possible effects Infrasounds can have on people is fitting, so it wouldn't be TOO out of place if that just happens. I mean sound is already kind of a significant part in hgsn's story so why not lol.

I'm a dino nerd so my go to example for it is this since it's more audible lol. (Headphones recommended)

and i am soooooo normal about raydon you have no idea<3 i've been meaning to make a more in-depth analysis on their dynamic and why i like them as a ship for someone else who asked but i haven't had the chance to organize all my thoughts yet </3

tbh the biggest thing is i just really like their development through the series because like. don is shown to really admire ray and obviously pre-escape ray is experiencing the horrors and is actively pushing everyone besides emma and norman away and i really like seeing them grow closer after ray is finally allowed to begin healing it's very sweet to me <3

their dynamic is just really good in general and i think it is very underappreciated. and in the context of romance specifically i like the idea of them finally being allowed to get to know each other and seeing don's admiration turn into genuine love while ray tries to process his feelings (and probably has a few crises over it<3) and i think don being such an openly affectionate and caring person would definitely help ray as he learns to handle recieving affection and giving it as well. also it's really sweet seeing how emotional ray makes don at several points in canon and i like thinking about him just being so overjoyed whenever ray shows him any sort of affection (and ray noticing this and making a mental note to do it more often <3)

tldr theyre both very sensitive people in different ways and their development is very sweet and the would be so good to each other and they are cute. also they are funny as fuck

i am going to talk about this scene so people know what i mean when i say usogui is textually gay. bakuhal could be its own post & kajibaku itself has more elements to it (the great breasts mission + baku winning kaji back in a gamble therefor "owning" him/his life) but ok so

this scene will be familiar to those who read shoujo. its a love confession during fireworks that obscure the actual love confession part of it. you can google it if u dont know the trope ill only expand on the context in usogui

so here were taking a break from life or death gambles on this island, gamble that happens as a long 20+ days marathon but is in itself on a very tight schedule. kaji has just won the spear vs shield gamble- meaning his character arc has concluded and he is now injured and cant significantly help baku in his gambles anymore BUT he has taken a stand to be his own person & step out of bakus shadow to instead stand as his equal. this is what that internal monologue looks like

(the "to please you" sentiment is not necessarily gay its tied to his issues w his mom but its not-NOT gay either. also notice his fingers in bakus mouth LOL)

so what does he do now that he considers himself bakus equal? well he gets sexual release then attends the festival w the gang. & at the end of the day after fun group antics at the festival (a tropey date spot!) this is his internal monologue, directed at baku himself. "Hey, Baku-san, I..." [fireworks obscure the end of his thought]. we do not get to hear it on the next page either its just left hanging there. this is the epilogue to kajis character arc, the thing that crowns it before he takes a backseat in the story. it is not a throway line. what else is there to read here than that thought is akin to a love confession- if not one outright? why invoke this romantic trope here otherwise?

(uhm also the sex kaji mentions is a blowjob & baku has a eating/mouth motif thats present in the "i will stand as bakus equal" page but thats a bit too analytical of motifs & symbols for this post. he did not literally have sex w baku here)

i have to stress this scene is using a shoujo trope as-is and concludes over 300 chapters of baku calling him kaji-chan/nicknames and being physically affectionate AND the aformentionned gamble w kaji as the wager and the great breast mission thing... whether intentional or not! kaji and bakus relationship is homoerotic at its core

A small character analysis over Wave the Swallow.

Something I heavily relate with Wave. I feel like she desperately latches onto the unconditional attention she gets. Making it kinda difficult to notice if she’s truly feeling like she’s being seen, or is it just the competition. I feel like once Wave starts to info dump, it’ll be only Tails’ (and Espio in some cases) listening. I think she’s mentally just a little purple ball curling in her own warmth because she really doesn’t have anyone. Her ties personally with the Babylon Rogues aren’t that great; they find too many flaws within themselves to really make much of a relationship with the others. We got two perfectionists and an idiot, retrospectively. They’re friends, yes, but they’d rather protect their gears with their lives, symbolizing the relationship they do have, but not personally with each other. I think the EX-gears are like an addition to themselves; making it clear they really trust themselves more than anyone else. Making it even sadder for Wave. She made them, adjusted my them, modified them, replaced bad parts with good parts, without her, they’re not really with anything. Well, does she ever get that credit the way Sonic gives Tails’ the credit? No. I think Wave is jealous of Tails’ and Sonic’s friendship because of that. She really just wants to be appreciated, and well, seen for more than a mechanic for once.

(I know that this panel isn’t about her, but I find it cute she’s basically doing the same thing Jet did to her for this little guy. Making it seem like the circle forms; and she’s just returning the favor from a metaphorical standpoint.)

Making her attitude actually really justified; she’s scared, and really paranoid. She’s exactly like Knuckles in this sense, she doesn’t want to open up to anyone because they might manipulate her, and use her vulnerability to their advantage. Which is why it’s easy for her to cut ties so quickly, trying to become friends with her will be extremely difficult. She’s truly a slow burn relationship in any sense. Her harsh trust issues stem from people being jealous of her skills, making her easily judgmental on if or what if people want to steal from her. So she simply steals from them first. I’m talking about the fact in the comics, it starts by clarifying that she was actually against the Babylon Rogues. Now, once she was thrown into ‘jail’ by her former boss, helping them out, she states it’s almost ‘ironic.’ From a double-sense, too. She’s rogue-like, and she’ll do most things on her own terms, but hates the people who live by her ideologies. Funny, right? Plus, she now has formed this relationship that she knows they need her; and they won’t simply give her away for almost no reason. She’s way too invaluable; and they do, in-fact, care about her. Just don’t show her in many ways, but like us, she overlooks their subtle ways. Knowing that Wave will and does have an extremely difficult time to form a relationship or bond with somebody, doing it so quickly with Jet and Storm makes their relationship and meeting even more ironic. Making it almost funny, because even then, Wave isn’t seen for who she is, but for what she can do. Making her ego over how she can tune EX-gears really delicate, it’s just an inflated ego. Nothing more. So, meeting Tails’ really hinders her ability to feel confident about herself, or have any pride about her actions and decisions after the events of Riders to Zero Gravity.

I think she finally accepts Tails’ as an equal at the end of Riders, but it still makes her deeply insecure that someone of that age is just as good as her. If not, better, which, in a way, terrifies her, because she knows her worth on this occasion, but at the same time, if somebody is better, it makes her feel inferior. This is her only way to actually feel superior or somehow worth something. In anything else, I wholly believe she doesn’t feel anywhere near that the way she does when she tunes EX-gears. So, in a way, I think she thought Tails’ was taking that pride or superiority over her. (I love characters who canonically suffer from imposter syndrome! 😘 They make me so sick. /pos) In Free Riders, I feel she finally accepts the rivalry as friendly and Tails’ isn’t trying to show her up. I think they’d misunderstood their feelings towards each other. Making it seem as if the rivalry was toxic, and it tried to make the other feel inferior to the other. They probably both figured it out pretty much at the same time, but Tails’ took the first initiative to be friends regardless. Making it implied, he really didn’t care about her skills, but her as a person. They’re literally two sides of the same coin. I definitely would believe that once Tails’ starts to share research with her, depending on their relationship, she’d either take it two ways. He’s trying to give her more tips, and she doesn’t like it when others’ see things differently, and make better judgments over it. Making her really defensive over her own math and observations. Or they’re collaborating and they need to share each other’s worries with each other to complete the task.

Also, I do think she’s envious of Tails’s kindness, because she can’t. I don’t think she completely trusted herself to be kind, and it’s not because people might take advantage of it, but I think she’s so used to being a manipulator. So she’ll automatically set up ways to manipulate you on something, and she’ll hate herself for it. Making it easy to really manipulate Tails’, and she’s almost scared about doing it. Hence how trustworthy he is. I don’t think she’ll be able to forgive herself for manipulating somebody so pure and honest. Almost making her want to yearn for an actual friendship with Tails’, but she has too much pride. She’s so tragic…

I really don’t think she’ll be comfortable enough to actively go and seek help. Which makes her really emotionally attached to her own abilities, hindering her development. Which isn’t so bad, because she really is great, but she could benefit from Tails’ help. She doesn’t like admitting it; but she does like the kid, and furthermore making him an even better rival for her. They understand each other’s skills far better than any else’s’, but it’s because they’re on the same wavelength. I think Wave is subconsciously aware of this; but really sour about it. Probably because she felt that way, and it’s new, and I headcanon she hates new feelings. It’s weird, and she doesn’t know what to do about it, and it leaves her confused and in the dark. She hates that the most, being unable to understand. Especially over failure. I don’t think she handles failure well, her anger is so destructive it makes Jet quake in his shoes. So, seeing Tails’ just taking it as trial and error and never thinking too much over it makes her extremely angry. Like how? How can he just walk away? It was his creation, and it wasn’t good enough! How is he fine with that? How could anybody be fine with that? Wave is so distraught by it, that her feelings towards Tails’ is so unreasonable and unfair, that she just can’t stand to look at him. Especially in Riders, so him actively trying to become friends with her almost mentally breaks her. Another headcanon, she’s very good at masking her mental state. So we never actually see if she cares or not, but oh my goodness, she does. She does a lot.

Now back to the first part; Also, I can agree she hates how dominant males are in her field. Making her pretty competitive already, but it only amplifies when she knows she’s better than you. It’s almost humorous for her, because then she’ll mock you over how dumb or idiotic you think because of her inflated ego. Although, when it comes to people she doesn’t have a good judgment or understanding on, she gets defensive and even more aggressive over her mocking. Depending on their reactions, she’d get a better sense of their abilities. I honestly don’t think her mocking is empty; it holds something. Not only is it her defense, but it’s basically her getting what she wants by your reactions. It’s more beneficial because you can tell how people can take things, and that’s your ticket to a better chance to win.

I honestly think the reason Wave dismisses Tails’ EX-gear is because it wasn’t made from original parts. Making it honestly easier to pick on him simply because all he did was really scrap parts. In her book, it’s not good enough to be even remotely comparable to EX-gear. Making her a little frustrated on seemingly how unserious Tails’ was about it. Which was just her misinterpretation that had no time to be corrected. Especially since she was already in a hurry to just set up the bomb to sabotage Sonic. Honestly, I don’t think she was entirely lying, but trying to cover up her lack of actions with her inflated egoistic behavior. Trying to keep it clear that the Babylon Rogues are still clearly superior over Sonic’s team. In a way, she was defending Jet and Storm.

Another thing, I don’t think she really cares about winning. She doesn’t find pride in that like Jet does, but how well and modified their EX-gears are. Hence her being the only canon character who knows her way around the full spectrum of EX-gears. She practically creates the characters for EX-gears. Making her way out of Tails’ and Eggman’s league when it comes to managing and inventing these. They know nothing about the EX-gears other than the air-tanks. While, Wave knows where’s what and what is going on. Without her knowledge; Jet’s and Storm’s gears would be basic and average because everyone else has the same problem. An inventor who can’t properly understand or malfunction the EX-gears. Making Wave one of the most valuable characters in this sense.

I honestly think I’m not done with this. Although, I mostly covered everything; and I just honestly want to write about her. I could make a part two, but it’ll be mostly covering her status as mechanic. I also would like to state now, I don’t like gender-bent Wave. I fully believe you take away from her character if you turn her into a boy. Her character no longer has purpose or meaning.
