SUNDAY MATINEE MUSIC VIDEO: “Frontiers of Love” (live)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxQiamHKnPQ -- This song imagines walking through the night-time across a dark, windy landscape, drawn by the promise of a warmly lit window glimmering on the horizon. The music emerged from when I was in a Celtic/Irish/Scottish music phase, and it blooms from a holy heart-place. It has been a staple of my live set for many years. I made a "full band" demo of it, then it found new life solo-acoustic, played on a detuned 12-string in an open C tuning. A couple people have detected a Yes influence in this, which I won’t deny, but (truth being specific) it was largely inspired by "A Sort of Homecoming” by U2.

I think I've finally stopped fidgeting with this playlist so here it is: my New Romantic-heavy OFMD playlist (plus some MCR and a few other bits & bobs). None of the actual songs from the show; I'm sure there are already playlist with those. Don't get me wrong, the OST is amazing! Fleetwood Mac, Leonard Cohen, Erik Satie, very much MY SHIT. But these are songs that either came to mind when watching the show, or that made me think of the show when I heard the songs. It HAD to have "You know what they do to guys like us in prison" and had to close with "Fisherman's blues". Just cause.

It’s been a staple of my concert set for years, with an added mash-up of “The Whole of The Moon” (Waterboys). A couple people have detected a Yes influence in this, which I won’t deny (didn’t Jon Anderson write “Roundabout” by a Scottish lake?). However, (truth being exact), I was largely inspired from the music by the Scottish band Big Country and the U2 song "A Sort of Homecoming.”
