Aren’t twins supposed to be identical?
That’s what you always thought. Not that you came across many twins in your life before, except for this strange pair. But it was true, right? Twins are supposed to be alike. Not just by their physical appearance, but by personality, the way they would act, too.
Jake once told you, that they were identical when they were babies. They would cry and sniffle, giggle and coo all the same way. But otherwise than their looks, there was barely any resemblance between these two now.
Except for the fact that both of them were, what the rest of the clan would describe as, perfect. The golden twins of the Sully’s.
The two of them had been the best at pretty much everything since they were kids. Whether it was climbing or running or even weaving, none of the other children could keep up with them. And it got even worse when they got older. Both twins had mastered the ability to hunt with great precision, accuracy and success at the young age of fourteen. It was no surprise that they completed their iknimaya at the age of fifteen at first try.
Neteyam and Neytan are twins. Counterparts, equals, yet opposite.
Neteyam was kind, responsible and sympathetic. He wasn’t just a gifted child, he worked hard to earn himself his place in the clan. He was grateful and set a good example, not just for his siblings but also for the young warriors that he trained for their iknimaya.
While Neytan, well… Neytan was a smug little bastard. Arrogant even. He clearly enjoyed to put himself above others and as the first born son of the toruk makto (by five whole minutes), he carried himself with pride. It was hard for any of his numeyu to live up to his expectations, which was unfortunate for you, because you were one of them.
"Breath in. Hold it."
Holding your bow high and flexed, an arrow nocked at the ready, you inhale deeply, straightening your spine to hold position. Neteyam’s hand on your stomach sends tingles through your whole body that you could hardly ignore and when his chest comes in contact with your back as he leans in closer, your hands begin to tremble.
"Focus", Neteyam murmurs, a pair of fingertips guiding your wrists to aim at the target, while stabilizing them enough to stop them from shaking. His warm breath fans over the top of your head, making you utterly aware of how close he was to you in this moment.
A third hand suddenly taps your elbow, urging you to correct your stance as it slowly begins to falter, the longer Neteyam holds you close like this. It’s Neytan, who stands next to you with his arms crossed over his chest, but instead like Neteyams eyes that were fully concentrated on the target, he was looking right at you. You felt his eyes burn themselves into the side of your face, making you forget that you were supposed to hold your breath for a second.
When Neteyam steps back, your arms already begin to ache from holding them in position for quite some time now. Still, you hold your stance and keep your eyes on the target as best as you could.
"Very good, just like that", Neteyam praises softly, causing your cheeks to blush.
As much as you tried not to let yourself get distracted by the fluttering of butterflies in your stomach— the ones that wriggled and writhed, the ones that made your legs buckle, you couldn’t help the way your breath hitched in your throat.
There was a moment of silence as you waited, the Yerik in front of you stopping to graze, oblivious to its fate. The only sound was the clicking of animals and the soft whisper of the wind, blowing through the crowns of the trees.
"And… shoot!"
Right command, an arrow whizzed through the air, but it misses the Yerik completely and hits the bark of a tree instead. You watch your prey run off into the depths of the forest, feeling your stomach drop in disappointment.
"Argh! Fuck!" You shout, your voice echoing through the forest, sending birds scattering to the sky and ruining all chances of finding another animal to hunt in the next couple of hours.
"Great. Good job", Neytan scoffed sarcastically.
Like a child throwing a tantrum, you slam your bow to the ground and cross your arms over your chest, mumbling curses and what not under your breath.
Next to you, Neteyam sighs deeply. With a caressing hand on your cheek he tells you, "It’s okay, tanhì. We‘ll try again, go get your bow."
The nickname he had chosen specifically for you, the one that normally did wonders when he tried to cheer you up, did little to make you feel better now. You weren’t just disappointed in yourself for failing yet again, you were embarrassed too. Embarrassed, because you surely would’ve mastered your iknimaya by now, if it weren’t for them.
You knew it wasn’t fair to blame them, but ever since they had decided to train you in private lessons, it had become increasingly difficult for you to make any progress. When you were still training with the other students as a rather big group, you had already been struggling to keep your mind clean and not think about the two handsome twins like that. But now, with all the physical contact, the close proximity, the nicknames... it was impossible for you to stay concentrated at all.
"What’s up with you today, huh?"
Neytan cocked his head to the side, braids swaying over his muscular shoulders as his eyes scanned you up and down. Despite the way his intense gaze made you squirm, you dared to roll your eyes, thinking he might not notice with the way you held your head down and stared at the ground.
"Did you just roll your eyes at me?" So much for that. You still don’t look directly at him, but you can see the way he moves closer to you in the corner of your eyes.
Feeling a little too bold for your own good, you mumble quietly under your breath, "if you would’ve focused, maybe you—"
"Watch it, tanhì", Neytan cuts you off, mocking his brothers nickname for you, which finally makes your eyes snap in his direction. The oldest Sully was almost towering over you now, arms still crossed over his chest and eyes squinted as if he was trying to see right through your façade. Instinctively, your ears flattened against the side of your head.
"Nothing’s up with me today", you sigh in defeat. Chewing on the inside of your cheek, your eyes find the ground again, keeping up your little game of pretending to be very interested in counting every single blade of grass below your feet.
It’s Neteyam that finally speaks up, his voice sounding closer than it was before, but also more soft, compared to his brothers. "You’re unfocused. More than usually." You completely miss the way they exchange looks, silently communicating in a way that only twins do.
"I‘m not…"
"Yes, you are", he chuckles and the sound of it sends heat to your cheeks. "What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours, hm?"
"Nothing!", it comes out as fast as a gunshot, making you wince because you couldn’t possibly be any more obvious, "I don’t even know what you’re t—"
"She thinks we’re stupid, brother", Neytan laughs, nudging his brothers side with his elbow before he looks back at you. "Do you really think we’re that dense? That we didn’t notice?"
Helplessly, your eyes search for Neteyams. His expression is soft like always, a gentle smile on his lips and you feel warmth spread in your core, nerves fluttering in your stomach at the way he looks back at you. Normally, he’s the one to calm his twin. The one that makes sure he takes it easy on you, to give you a second chance when you mess up again. But something was different today.
You jump when a finger suddenly hooks under your chin and tilts your head slightly. "Don’t look at him. Look at me", Neytan says lowly. A wave of goosebumps tingles down your arms and up the nape of your neck as you blink up at the other twin. He grins sharply and raises a brow, "So, are you going to admit it? Or do you want us to speak it out for you?"
Hesitantly, you shake your head no. Neither option sounded very appealing to you right now, as you felt like a little mouse caught in a trap, stared down by two big, blue, hungry cats.
"You’re adorable, tanhì", Neteyam chuckles from beside you. You could feel the warmth of his hand as it settles on your arm, gently tracing your stripes while he speaks. "I think you’re not paying any attention to your lessons because your mind is elsewhere." There’s a pause, a split second where both twins look at each other and then back at you, before he continues, "But we could help you with that."
Your mouth opens and closes like a fish stuck on land, but no words seem to come out as your eyes flick back and forth between the two of them. The sudden urge to squeeze your thighs together overcomes you, adding pressure to the burning heat between your legs that you were trying so hard to ignore this whole time. Had you really been this obvious to them?
"What’s wrong? Palulukan‘s got your tongue?", Neytan chuckles. The finger he had hooked under your chin finally moves, his hand cupping your face now and his thumb traced the outline of your bottom lip, blown pupils following along. "My brother has been talking about those pretty lips day and night, you know? Made me want to have a taste of them too."
Swallowing thickly, a wave of confidence seized up inside you. "W-Wouldn’t it be unfair to… to be the first to taste them then?" You say quietly, almost whispering.
Neytans eyes widen at that. "Bold", he scoffs with a smirk and you watch the way his tongue swipes over his own lips to wet them. Thinking he’ll mostly likely ignore you, smug bastard that he was, it actually takes you by surprise when he steps aside, allowing Neteyam to take his place.
"My pretty little tanhì", he muses, reaching up to take your face in both of his big, warm palms. His thumbs gently draw circles on your cheeks and you watch the way his eyes scan over every little detail on your face, admiring the pattern of your bioluminescence freckles that earned you this nickname a while ago. "You want me to kiss you, hm?" Yes. "Make you feel good?" Please. "I‘ll help you get rid of all these filthy thoughts in your head so you can focus again, how’s that sound?"
Swallowing back a whimper, you nod quickly.
Your eyes are half lidded now and standing on your very tip toes you part your lips slightly, preparing for him to finally lean in and kiss you. But instead of your lips, he delivers a small peck to your cheek. And another one to your jaw. Your throat is next. You squeeze your eyes shut, squirming as you let him shower you in tingling kisses. You then feel him deepen the kiss, his tongue lapping over your pulse point, making you shiver, as he sucks hickeys to your skin.
Once he’s done, he travels further down to nose at your collarbone. "You always smell so sweet", Neteyam tell you lowly, before he moves back to your throat and inhales deeply. "It’s hard for me to concentrate too, you know? But I’m a lot better at hiding it." Neytan chuckles at this.
When he comes back up, he’s met with your flushed face, cheeks burning and drowsy eyes staring up at him through long lashes. Neteyam smiles warmly at you, his tail curling behind his back in anticipation when he finally presses his lips against yours. You sigh into the kiss, parting your lips so his tongue could curl around yours.
Behind you, Neytan places a kiss to your shoulder, not as soft and tender as his brothers, as you soon feel teeth sink into your skin. You feel him nibble on your ear next, sharp canine grazing your skin but Neteyam swallows the soft whimper escaping you. A pair of hands glide over your arms, over your sides and down to your hips and you know they belong to Neytan, with the way they grope your flesh on their way down to where your loincloth was tied around your hips.
Once he had freed you from it, the oldest Sully wastes no time in nudging your legs apart with his knee. You break the kiss with Neteyam, panting for air, to glance back over your shoulder. It’s his brothers turn to catch you in a heated kiss now. Neytan is all tongue and teeth, sucking on your tongue and biting your bottom lip as he kisses you fiercely.
When cold air brings your nipples to hard peaks, you realize that your top is gone too. You can barely hear Neteyams praise when your bare tits come into his view, over the blood rushing through your head.
You don’t even know who’s doing what or where anymore, but your limbs are becoming unstable and weak like molten wax as both pair of hands explore your body. Heat is spreading through your core, slithering deep in a place where you crave them most.
You feel Neteyams lips close around a nipple and whimper against Neytans, when he playfully pulls on the little nub with his teeth. It was like a dance- once you’d break away from Neytan, his brother pulled you into another kiss, while it was Neytans turn to caress your neck and throat, his hands groping your chest.
Their low hums vibrated against your skin, surrounding you like a subtle lullaby. They were almost caging you in between their tall bodies and you squirmed a little, but didn’t mind the closeness in the slightest. Sucked into an abyss of sensations, your head swims and you‘re unable to focus on anything else, besides their lips and hands all over you. All you could see, hear and smell was them. You were swallowed between them like a trapped bird.
Your head falls back against Neytans broad chest as Neteyams hand sneaks it’s way lower and between your thighs. He cups your pussy, feeling for how wet you are and then slides his fingers between your folds with groan.
The way his thumb ghosted over your clit had your hips jerking in response but you whined as the touch didn’t relieve any of the tension that was slowly building inside you.
"Neteyam", you begged, oh, so sweetly, "Please don’t tease…"
"See?", Neteyam beamed with pride as he glanced at his brother over your shoulder, "I told you she behaves better with me."
His twin only rolled his eyes at that, chuckling, "Because she knows you wouldn’t know what to do with a brat like her, brother. That’s why she acts up with me, right? You want me to put you in your place?"
You feel heat flood your cheeks once again, tainting them in dark red and unwanted admission. You just didn’t want to give into him so easily. With Neteyam, it was always simple. But with Neytan, it was a mutual game of cat and mouse, a push and pull.
Neytans hand had found it’s way between your thighs too, and while his twin teasingly circled your clit, he wasted no time in plunging his middle finger to the last knuckle past your slippery entrance. Instead of a response, your knees buckled and you gasped sharply, moaning when he curls his finger inside of you.
"F-Fuck!"
"I asked you a question, numeyu."
Pursing your lips together into a thin line, you refused to answer him and his mean antics, but then quickly felt a second finger nudge at your entrance.
"C‘mon, answer him", Neteyam smiled down at you, his thumb simultaneously flicking over your clit more rapidly.
"Yes, sir", is all you can force out between high-pitched moans. Right on cue, Neytan groans at your response and begins to scissor you open with his slender digits, pulling more of those pretty sounds out of you.
"She’s so sweet like this", Neteyam chuckled to his brother, before he dipped his head down to place another kiss to your lips, "you’re such a good girl for me, tanhì."
His lips meet yours gently, coaxing them open, happily exploring the inside of your mouth with his tongue again. His brothers hand finds your breast, pinches your nipple between the pads of his fingers, while his others are pumping agonizingly slowly in and out of your pussy and your toes start to curl when he repeatedly hits that special spot inside of you.
It doesn’t take long for your muscles to contract around his digits, wordlessly begging for more while you hold onto Neteyam with all of your might. Feeling both of their hands between your legs, covered in your sticky arousal, groping at you, spreading you and drawing circles on your clit, has your mind spiraling. The more they play with you like this, the closer you feel, nearing the edge of your orgasm.
"Close, huh? Yeah, you’re almost there, pretty girl, that’s it", Neytan purrs into your ear and the obscene squelching sounds he coaxed out of your pussy are enough to make your eyes roll back into your head. "C’mon, paskalin. Come for us."
If it weren’t for the way you were sandwiched between the two of them, you would’ve collapsed as your orgasm finally overtook all of your senses, leaving you moaning and gasping for air. Your legs stutter together but their hands keep them spread, holding your thighs apart. Neteyam wasn’t letting up on your clit until you whimpered and sobbed into his shoulder, clawing at his forearms to stay upright.
The oldest twin is then the first to withdraw his hands from between your thighs. You watch him over your shoulder, as he sucks his slick covered fingers clean, humming at your taste. His brother is next, but before his hand comes up again, he dips a single finger into you, coating it in your arousal which causes your hips to twitch in hypersensitivity, just to then bring them to your own lips.
"Say ahh", Neteyam smiles and you do as your told, sticking your tongue out for him to smear your slick onto it. You taste the lingering tang of your own arousal, but just as you’re about to close your mouth and taste yourself properly, Neteyam objects, "Not yet. I want to taste you too." Before you know it, he closes his lips around your tongue and sucks.
Neteyam groans and with the way you’re pressed against his chest, it rumbles through you. You’re hot, so hot you feel like you might just spontaneously combust, your whole body washed in a tingling flush.
Meanwhile, Neytan moves your hair to the side so he can kiss the back of your neck.
"Get on your hands and knees, sevin or I‘ll take you right here. And I don’t care if your legs will give in", he whispers, his breath hot on your skin and you can practically feel the grin on his face without having to look at him.
Breaking the kiss, a light pressure on your shoulder prompts you to kneel and both of them offer you a hand to do so, seeing the way your legs already wobble. You’re just glad the grass is soft under your knees as you get into position, your hazy eyes watching as both twins rid themselves of their loincloths.
They’re twins indeed, you think as their cloths fall to the ground, staring up at them with wide eyes. Their tails rhythmically sway behind their backs, excited and eager and they stare you down so intensely and with so much lust in their eyes that your heart begins to race.
"What’s the matter, hm? Nervous?", Neytan grins as he circles you to stand behind your back.
"No", you breathe out, cursing the way your voice comes out trembling.
"Don’t be", Neteyam smiles warmly as he steps closer, "We‘ll take good care of you, tanhì."
You couldn’t help the way your mouth begins to salivate as you watch him stroke his hard cock right in front of your face, the mushroomy head of it already leaking pre-cum.
Heat floods your cheeks as he cups your face in his free hand and nudges the head of his cock against your plump lips, smearing his pre over them with relish.
"Say you want it", Neteyam mumbles lowly, too lost in the sight of your lips on his cock to even look you in the eyes, "Say you want to suck my cock."
"I- I want to suck your cock, Neteyam."
Your hands then reach out to touch him. He twitches in your palms, too big for you to close your hands entirely around it. The realization alone made you feel uneasy and heat pools from your core and smears between your thighs. Experimentally, you squeeze and stroke him, before you press a small kiss on top of it and he can’t help but huff out a breath, smiling at the precious sight before him.
"C‘mon, tanhì. Put it in", he sounds a little breathless by now, "Or do I have to teach you how to do this too?"
He watches you with half lidded eyes, as you let saliva pool in your mouth and then stick your tongue out and let it drip down onto his tip. It makes his dick glisten, slippery with your spit. You continue with dragging your tongue up the underside of his dick and he groans, enjoying the feeling of that wet, warm muscle against his hard length.
Those kitten licks and kisses felt good, incredible even, but they were not nearly enough, not for how hard he was. But Neteyam was a patient man.
You drag the flat of your tongue up, the tip of it flicking just beneath the head of his cock. His hips jerk at the sensation and he rolls his neck back with a groan. He tries to restrain himself– to restrain the urge to just flip you onto your stomach and fuck you senseless, make you scream his name for the whole forest to hear.
Neytan on the hand wasn’t exactly known for being very patient, not as your karyu and not right now. Behind your back, you could hear him move. You couldn’t really see him like this, but you knew he was there, settling himself behind you. With a hand on your back he urges you to arch your spine more. With his thigh, he nudges your legs further apart and makes room for him to kneel between them. His hands roam your body, kneading your breasts and stroking over your back, where he then leaves wet kisses and small bites behind, marking every inch of skin he could reach.
The sensation of hands all over you was overwhelming.
They travel lower then, to where he spreads your soft folds with his thumbs. "Still so fucking wet", Neytan chuckles, licking his lips, "no wonder you couldn’t concentrate. Filthy girl, you must’ve wanted this so badly."
With his cock in hand, he carefully nudges the tip against your tight entrance, easing into you ever so slowly. The stretch of his girth is on the borderline of being painful, dancing on a knifes edge, but it’s also devastatingly perfect. With each passing second, you can feel yourself being forced open, further than you ever thought was possible. Once every merciless inch of his cock is shoved deep inside you, you moan, already close to coming yet again. The sound was heavenly to their ears and Neytan presses his hips even tighter against yours. Like this, you could already feel the head of his cock against your cervix, which caused a small sob to escape your lips.
Your mouth hangs open as you try to let your body adjust to his size and it’s enough of an opportunity for Neteyam to slide his cock into your mouth.
At this, you clench around Neytan, hard.
He groans into your hair, his forehead dropping against your back and you whimper when he pushes forward, as if there was any more room for him inside of you. His fingers dig into your hips hard enough to bruise.
"Eywa, baby ease up a little. You’re squeezing me so t-tight", Neytan curses through gritted teeth.
"Just breathe through your nose. Focus on me, tanhì. We‘ll make it fit, don’t worry your pretty little head."
Another inch of his length glides over your tongue and further into your mouth, but you do as your told, breathing through your nose in short pants of air. Your eyes already begin to water, but you still manage to glance up at Neteyam who was staring right back down at you, biting his bottom lip in restrain.
"M‘gonna come", you mumble barely intelligible with his dick halfway in your mouth.
"She’s coming just from putting it in", Neytan laughs staggered, "Fuck, I think I’ll have to keep you, paskalin."
You fall apart right as he pulls himself out all the way and then snaps his hips forward, pushing back inside you in one fluid thrust. The way his waist collides with your bottom emerges a loud and obscene smack and you whimper. With his hands, Neteyam holds your head up, gives you enough leverage so you don’t fall face first against the ground as his twin begins to set his pace. You barely have time to come down from your second high, when Neytan begins to fuck you in deep, long strokes.
The movement pushes you forward and makes you swallow more of Neteyam, who groans in response. Tongue teasing the salty slit, his mouth falls open and his hands move to fist your hair into a messy ponytail. You hollow your cheeks as best as you can, sucking and slurping on his length.
To the rhythm of Neytans thrusts, you bob your head up and down, tongue glued to the hard length of Neteyam. He’s so far from being fully buried inside your mouth, his size was making it incredibly difficult, but he could feel you push yourself to your limit. You were making these wet noises that went straight to his dick and with your hand, you stroked every inch your mouth couldn’t reach.
Neteyams hips were already twitching with the effort to not hold your head still and just fuck your throat. Thankfully, a few especially hard thrusts of Neytan had you take him even further inside, until you were gagging and moaning around him.
"There you go, that’s it, tanhì", he praised you from above, nodding his head to encourage you, "You look so pretty like that, making all these cute noises for us. You really are my best numeyu, you know that right? Fuuck, yes. My favorite girl, doing so good for me."
You look up at him, the tears that had been picking at the corner of your eyes finally tickle down your cheeks as he hit the back of your throat. You manage to hum around his length, in place of a verbal response.
Tilting his head as if he's observing a rare specimen, the other twins attention was fixed entirely on the way your soft, round cheeks jiggled with every harsh thrust of his. Angling his hips, he expertly brushed his cock against your g-spot now, coaxing moan after moan from your lips.
"You feel so fucking good", he groans, "We should’ve done this sooner, should’ve done this every single time you lost focus."
Slowly, Neteyam pulls out of your mouth just as your gagging grows a little louder, admiring the strings of glistening saliva connecting his tip to your swollen lips. Immediately, you gasp for air, panting and moaning more freely, while your hand keeps stroking over his length.
"Ney-tan", you whimper his name, words cut off by his harsh thrusts, "Y-You’re fuck-ing me so g-good, oh my e-eywa!"
"Because that’s what you deserve, tanhì. I told you we‘ll take good care of you", Neteyam coos from above and you feel the way his cock throbs in your palms, impatient to feel your lips wrap around it again.
"I think I‘ll never be able to continue training you, without having my cock buried inside your tight little pussy", Neytan chuckles, "so better get used to it."
The promising words send your heart a flutter and you could feel another orgasm nearing, right as one of his hands wedged itself between your thighs to fondle at your clit.
"Please, please, I’m so clo—", you whine, barely able to finish your pleading before Neteyams head dips down to catch your lips in another kiss. "I want to come with you", he mumbles against your lips, his voice strained with lust and desperation. Nodding, you untangle your tongue from his and take his cock back into your mouth.
Neytans thrusts have turned into a more rapid pace than before. He’s chasing his own orgasm with every fibre in his being, his hips snapping against yours so hard that it felt like you were being spanked. And maybe that’s exactly what he was aiming for. His middle and index finger work furiously over your sensitive clit, knowing exactly where and how to circle that small bundle of nerves to get you to come. And by the feeling of your walls fluttering around him, he knew you were about to.
Your tail curls and sways around his face more fiercely the harder he fucks you. Deciding to bring it to good use, his other hand leaves your hip to wrap itself around your tail. Using the new leverage, he tugs harshly, pulling you back against him and you yelp, the sound muffled around Neteyams cock.
Steadying yourself on said twins thigh, your nails dig into his skin as a rush of pleasure surges through you the way waves crash on the shore when you feel your tail being pulled and that’s all it takes for both of you to cum, the vibrations of your moans around Neteyams cock sending him clean over the edge.
"S-Swallow", is all he groans as you feel thick spurts of cum land directly on your tongue. Your throat constricts around him, cock throbbing and twitching wildly as the salty taste spreads over your tastebuds. "Yes, fuuck, that’s it. Good girl, swallow it all."
When he finally pulls himself out, his cock leaves you with a wet pop. Crouching down to be eye level with you, Neteyam keeps holding your head in his tender hands, preventing you from getting fucked face first into the dirty ground. Your expression is one of pure bliss, with your eyebrows scrunched together in pleasure as you rode out your peak.
"You did so well, tanhì", he praises, placing a soft kiss to your forehead. The complete opposite of his twins actions behind you.
"Teyam, f-fuck, s-so good", you whimper, "s'too much. I- I can’t!"
"Hmh, i bet you feel incredible like this. I can’t wait for my turn.", he chuckles, "Just focus, I know you can take it. I‘m right here, pretty."
At his words, you clench around Neytans cock, pulling him in and holding him right there until he could merely pull out of you for more than a few inches. His thrusts become short and deep and just as desperate as his twins before him.
Until all he feels is heat, that incredibly tight heat that squeezes and sucks him in, with the most obscene sounds he’s ever heard– and he’s done for.
"S-Shit, you’re so tight! Gonna make me cum", Neytan groans, his body locking up, every muscle becoming rock hard, and then a shudder starts from the base of his spine, flowering outward through his entire body.
"Take it– oh fuck. Take it like you’re fucking made for it!"
You felt him come harder than you expected him to, as he gave a couple of thrusts more, hips suddenly pausing, and then you felt it flowing— hot shots of cum pumped into you, filling you up nice and warm as he lost himself inside you with a deep groan.
With a bruising grip on your hips, he holds you there and fills you up, until it leaks around his cock and bubbles onto the soft grass below your knees.
You nearly sob when Neytan pulls out, leaving you feeling exposed and empty, but it’s over quickly, when Neteyam scoops you into his warm embrace. A pleasant ache begins to settle over you as you come down from your high, feeling incoherent to form any other thoughts or words you just hum into the space of his shoulder.
A low chuckle jostles you a little further into his arms and you allow your eyes so fall closed. However, a not so gently pull to your tail snaps your eyes right back open and you glare over your shoulder to find the source of your discomfort.
"So, little numeyu", Neytan grins right back at you, as he ties his loincloth around his hips with ease. "Think you can focus better now? Let’s hope so, because you still have to hunt down that Yerik from earlier."
With furrowed brows, you turn your head to look at Neteyam. The other twin was smiling down at you, brushing a loose strand of hair behind your ear before he chuckles, "You didn’t think todays lesson would be over so easily, did you? Oh, tanhì. We’re not done with you yet."

As Boston came into view from the window of the plane, your anxiety began to skyrocket. Exam week flew by, and now it was finally fall break. You had spent half a day scrambling around the house trying to pack while planning when to call a taxi so that you wouldn’t miss your flight. Putting the stress aside, you had made it in time and found yourself trying to ease your mind with a stupid romance book on the flight. You weren’t huge on reading romance, but it was mindless and passed the time as you soared over the states.
Joel never reached out after he sent himself your number. You didn’t reach out either, which took a lot of self-restraint. You commended him for having just as much restraint because you were sure he’d cave and call you at some point. But the silence was blaring loud, and maybe he only wanted your number ‘just in case.’ You wouldn’t get your hopes up anymore.
You were coming down the escalator when your mom and two sisters came into view. Stella, your youngest sister, was the first to run and wrap you up in a big hug. Her black hair was chopped shorter than before, and she had a bright smile plastered on her face.
“Sis!” She squealed, squeezing your shoulders.
“Hi, Stell,” you laughed, hugging her tight.
“Look who’s home at last,” Beth said, her arms crossed over her chest as she watched Stella swing you back and forth.
Beth was younger than you by two years, while Stella was newly eighteen and still full of life. You and Beth hadn’t been very close since you left Boston, the bitterness of your absence still lingering between you both.
“Hey, Beth,” you sighed, opening your arms to invite her into a hug.
She was hesitant at first but finally caved and hugged you back. It was brief, but you’d settle for it. Your mom was the next in line to hug you, her voice shaky as she welcomed you home.
“Don’t cry, Mom,” you laughed, pulling away.
“I’m just happy you’re finally home. We missed you a lot.”
She took your luggage and guided you through the airport down to the parking garage. Stella lingered close, wanting to hear about your life in Austin and how teaching was going. Beth, on the other hand, hung back and kept quiet. You knew things would implode at some point during the week, but until then, you’d just have to acknowledge the ticking time bomb in the background.
“Where’s dad?” You asked your mom, climbing into the front seat.
“He’s home grilling up some steaks for dinner. He hasn’t stopped talking about you coming home since you booked the flight. He’s missed you the most,” she sighed.
“I missed him too,” you muttered.
It wasn’t lost on you that leaving had caused a gaping hole in your relationship with your entire family. Even if they weren’t the biggest fans of Bennett, they continued to support you through your decisions to move with him and uproot your life. After he left, they begged you to come home, but you knew staying in Austin was what felt right. You had a job and a home; leaving was admitting defeat. You wouldn’t let him strip away the life you had made; you wouldn’t let yourself be a failure.
The city blurred by as you neared your childhood home. You kept your eyes closed when you passed down the roads Bennett had once driven you, hoping you could force the memories away. But they still lingered. The past always seemed to linger. Stella and Beth chatted quietly in the backseat, leaving you in silence as the house appeared. Nothing had changed: the white brick chipping around the edges, the hedges in the front yard overgrown and unruly. You expected to feel at home, seeing the house again, but it didn’t feel like it once had.
As you unpacked the trunk and hauled your luggage inside, you heard your dad’s voice floating from the back deck.
“Is that my girl?” He called out, walking through the sliding doors with his grilling tools in hand.
“It is,” you smiled, dropping your things at the door.
“Hey there, peanut,” he greeted, awkwardly hugging you as his hands were full.
“Hey, Dad,” you whispered.
“Missed you, kid. How was the flight?”
You trailed him out onto the deck, the smell of smoke mixing with the autumn breeze as it passed through the trees lining the backyard. You had missed seeing the seasons change, the yellowing of the leaves, and the crisp air that seemed to linger throughout the day. Nothing would beat the East Coast in the fall, even if you liked living in Texas now.
“The flight wasn’t bad,” you shrugged, sinking into a lawn chair as you watched him flip the steaks. “I don’t know why four hours in the air felt so long.”
“You know, you could avoid it if you moved back home,” he suggested.
“I like living in Austin,” you argued. “I have a good job, and I’m happy there.”
“I didn’t say you weren’t happy. All I’m saying is that you can always come home.”
You remember him saying the exact same thing after the wedding ceremony went to shit. Two days after the incident, your dad was consoling you on the couch, holding you as you cried and urging you to come home. You can always come home, peanut.
“I know I can, Dad. Can we please just drop it?”
Your dad chuckled and made a pact with you not to repeat it. You only hoped your mom and sisters would do the same.
Dinner passed under a heavy silence. No one knew how to speak to you without possibly mentioning Bennett… or ‘the incident’ as they liked to refer to it. You awkwardly made small talk between your parents and Stella while Beth sat and pushed her food around. You stole glances at her ever so often, trying to form a plan when you could talk to her. Out of everyone in the family, your absence hurt her the most. She had been the most vocal about your issues with Bennett, which was to your detriment since you had confided in her the most. She gave the harsh truths and tough love, going so far as to try and talk you out of the engagement. In your love-struck haze, you hadn’t listened to her and found yourself defending Bennett—defending your emotions. You wished you had listened to her.
“So,” your mom started. “Any new love interests?”
You gave her a pointed stare, stabbing the steak on your plate. This was the last thing you wanted: explaining yourself to them.
“No, Mom. There’s no one to speak of,” you huffed.
“C’mon mom,” Beth laughed, chiming in. “You know she’s still wallowing away in that big house all alone.”
“Beth,” your dad warned. At the same time, Stella whispered, “Beth, don’t.”
“No, it’s okay.” You smiled through your teeth, glaring at Beth, who sat back in her seat with a smug expression.
“You did this to yourself, you know?” Beth said, cocking an eyebrow.
“Did what?” You questioned.
“We all warned you about Bennett. You knew he was no good, yet you stayed. And look! He left you.”
Her words cut deep, deeper than you wanted to admit. You kept your expression stony, not feeding into her words.
“Beth, you need to stop right now,” your mom nearly growled. “You’re out of line.”
“Let her talk, Mom,” you said. “She needs to get it out.”
“Oh, I need to get it out?” Beth snapped. “You’re the one fucking sulking about Austin, pulling this whole ‘woe is me’ bullshit. The signs were all there! Get over yourself. It’s been two years, sis. Move on.”
“Just because we don’t talk doesn’t mean I haven’t moved on,” you exhaled. “I’m still healing from it all, and I’m sorry I’m not including you in that. I didn’t know you needed access to every part of my life.”
Beth slapped her hands on the table, rising to her feet to stare down at you over the plates of food. You shrunk back, trying to keep the tears at bay. She was going in for the final blow.
“You came to me for advice, and I gave it. You went ahead with the engagement and still ended up alone. He was never going to marry you. You’re a fucking mouse too afraid to defend yourself, and he knew you wouldn’t fight for him back. He’s probably glad he didn’t marry someone as stupid as you. You can’t see the warning signs even when they’re flashing in your face!”
That was it. That was the breaking point.
You tossed your napkin onto your plate and removed yourself from the table. You drowned out your parents' voices and Stella’s yelling for you to come back as you ran towards the door.
“Run!” Beth called from behind you. “Run like Bennett did!”
You barely made it out the front door before crumpling to the ground with tears streaming down your face. Staying with Bennett didn’t just hurt you; it hurt everyone. They wanted the best for you, and you didn’t see that until it was too late. Your relationship with Beth had been shattered because you had thrown all the blame on her. You blamed her for every traitorous thought you had about Bennett; you wanted to blame her for your doubts and unhappiness. But it wasn’t her. It was you. Everything was your fault—it always was.
Stella’s small voice saying your name roused you from your crying as she joined you on the porch. Wrapping her arms around your shoulders, she leaned into you and let you cry out every bottled-up emotion.
“I’m sorry, Stell,” you sobbed. “I’m sorry I didn’t listen to you guys. I’m sorry I left. I’m sorry I never came home.”
“Shhh,” she hushed. “No one is mad at you for staying in Austin. We understand why you stayed. Beth is just hurt. You shut everyone out, but you shut her out the most. She just misses you.”
“All I do is fuck everything up,” you muttered.
“No, stop that,” she argued, rubbing a hand over your back. “None of what happened is your fault. You deserved love, and he wasn’t the right one. You’ll find it again.”
“I stayed for too long. I should have left him long before the wedding. I was just hoping it would fix everything.”
“How were you to know?” She sighed. “Just because he was shitty doesn’t mean you can’t be sad. What he did was totally fucked up, and you didn’t deserve that.”
“Tell Beth that,” you laughed through a hiccup. “She thinks I deserved it.”
“She’s hurt. She doesn’t mean those things.”
“But she’s not wrong.”
Stella sighed, pulling away from you to level you with a sympathetic look.
“I think you guys need to talk it out. Maybe not right now, but when you’re ready,” she offered.
“You’re the young one,” you groaned. “You shouldn’t be consoling your older sister like this.”
“Hey, someone’s gotta be nice to you,” she smiled, quietly laughing.
“Thank you,” you whimpered.
You fell back into her arms and stared aimlessly at the trees blowing in the wind. After a few quiet moments, you finally pulled yourself together and shuffled out of her arms. Stella watched you wearily as you stood, brushing the dirt from your pants.
“I think I’m gonna go for a walk to clear my head,” you announced. “Tell Mom and Dad I'll come back in a few.”
“Are you sure?” She asked.
“I’ll be okay, Stell. I promise. Thank you again,” you sighed, kissing her head.
Dusk fell over the neighborhood as you wandered between the trees and houses. A few neighbors walked their dogs while their kids ran through the streets playing ball or riding their bikes. You never wanted to be out and interacting at home, but you didn’t mind it here. There was no risk. No one would stop you and inquire about your life like they would at home.
As you rounded down the next street, your phone started ringing in your back pocket. You whipped it out and saw the one name you had been waiting for the last week: Joel. Part of you didn’t want to answer; you weren’t in the right headspace. But you had waited to hear from him, and honestly, he was probably the only person to sway your mood for the better. Sucking in a breath, you answered.
“Hello?” You said, hoping your voice didn’t betray you.
“I got a bone to pick with you,” Joel huffed, clearly joking.
But after the events of dinner, his words felt like another punch to the gut.
“Why?” You asked nervously, pulling the phone away to sniffle back more tears.
“I finished Romeo and Juliet, and I—. Wait, are you alright? Why does it sound like you’ve been cryin’?”
You let out a sad laugh; of course, he’d see right through you. He always managed to do that.
“Because I have been,” you sighed. There was no point in lying to him when you knew he’d continue bugging you.
“What happened? Are you alright? Do y’need me to come get you from somewhere?” God, he sounded so sweet when he was worried.
“I’m fine, Mr. Miller. I’m not even in Austin right now, so you’re off the hook on that offer.”
“Where are you?” He pressed.
“Boston. I’m visiting family over the break,” you explained.
“You from there?”
“I am.”
“I didn’t take you as an East Coast type of girl, but it makes sense with how stubborn y’are,” he chuckled.
“Yep. That’s me.”
“Alright, I ain’t gonna let you get off the hook this easily. What’s goin’ on?”
You rounded back down another street, holding your phone tighter against your ear, hoping you’d catch every breath in the receiver. Hearing Joel’s voice was enough to soothe your heart after a terrible night.
“Really,” you insisted. “We don’t need to talk about it.”
“I reckon we do. I bet you’ll feel better after.”
“I reckon I won’t,” you mimicked his accent.
Joel let out a low chuckle, clearly amused by your response. It garnered a smile from you as you pictured his lips turned up on the corners, the bottom lip pushed out and pouty like they always were.
“My family isn’t happy with me for staying in Austin. They think I should have moved home a couple of years ago,” you explained. “I’ll spare you the bad parts, but I should have come home. It would’ve made it easier on everyone.”
“But would it’ve made it easier on you?” He asked.
You stopped walking and pinched the bridge of your nose to hold back the coming tears. Of course, he saw it from the latter. He wasn’t siding with your parents, but he didn’t know what you had done and endured to deserve their bitterness.
“Probably, but it doesn’t matter. Listen, you don’t have to worry about me. We can talk poetry instead,” you offered.
“If that’s what y’want, and for the record, I’m gonna worry about you.” You could hear his smile through the phone.
“You don’t need to, Mr. Miller.”
“Joel,” he sighed. “Y’know, you can say my name.”
“I know, it’s just—.”
“All formalities,” he finished. “I just wish you’d quit that because I think we’re far past it by now.”
“I’m trying to maintain some semblance of professionalism,” you laughed.
Your house was slowly coming into view again, and you felt the nerves creep back in. Eventually, you’d have to face them again, but right now, all you wanted to hear was Joel’s thick accent and husky voice.
“What’s so wrong about bein’ unprofessional?” He joked.
“A lot, Mr. Miller,” you sighed.
There was a brief pause on his end, and you bit your lip, wondering if he understood the meaning behind your words. You'd be completely vulnerable to him when you crossed the threshold between professional and unprofessional. Your restraint would melt away, and he’d win.
“Should I be callin’ you Miss Smith again?” He sounded serious. “I don’t wanna make you uncomfortable and all that.”
“No,” you said all too quickly. “Call me by my name. I—I like it.”
You fucking idiot.
Joel spoke your name in a lower voice, sending a shiver down your spine. Your steps back to the house slowed as you tried to control a strange urge rushing through your body. Was he teasing you? Was he actually doing that? You had to reel back in all the unprofessional thoughts swarming your head… especially the ones wondering how your name would sound when he was inside—. Stop that.
“What’re you doing?” You exhaled.
“Sayin’ your name,” he countered. “Y’said you liked it.”
“Yeah, I do.” You were beyond flustered and hot. “You’re—never mind. I should probably get inside and make peace with my family. Don’t think I forgot about Romeo and Juliet; I still want to hear your thoughts.”
“Call me tonight before you sleep,” Joel said. Oh, Christ. “I ain’t gonna remember the story if I wait any longer.”
“We could’ve talked about it earlier,” you chuckled. “You got sidetracked asking about me.”
“Is that a bad thing?”
You were at the edge of the front yard now, staring blankly at the porch light flickering against the nightfall blanketing the house. You couldn’t stay outside forever or on the phone with him forever—no matter how much you wanted to.
“I need to get back to my family,” you sidestepped. “I’ll call tonight, okay?”
“Promise?”
You smiled to yourself, gripping the phone tighter in your hand. Damn this man, and damn his charm.
“I promise, Mr. Miller. Goodbye.”
“Bye,” he whispered, your name falling off his tongue one last time.
You were so screwed. Completely and utterly screwed.
The house was quiet when you walked through the front door. Your mom and dad were lounging in the living room, flipping through channels, and Stella sat at the dining room table, working on her homework. Beth was nowhere to be found, which you figured would happen. Your mom glanced up from the couch with the same sympathetic expression Stella had given you earlier, and quite honestly, you were sick of it. You were sick of being pitied. You were sick of people being sad for you all the time. Yes, you were sad—all the time—but you wanted to be alone in your healing. You didn’t want to feel worse about it all from the people meant to support you. And you knew deep down they did support you, but it didn’t always feel that way.
You needed to talk to Beth, or this entire week would be hell.
“Is she up in her room?” You asked your mom.
She gave you a slow nod and then returned to watching the TV. She didn’t have to say anything; she knew why you asked.
Upstairs, your house was divided by two hallways. The left hallway had your parents and Stella’s room, and down the right was yours and Beth’s. You had spent so many nights with her tucked in the bed with you, staying up late talking about anything under the sun and always being each other's best friend. But that all disappeared when she realized how terrible Bennett was. Leaving Boston broke her heart, and in turn, Bennett broke yours and destroyed everything left between you and your family.
After a sharp inhale and one final wipe of your eyes, you knocked on her door, hoping she’d let you in. The silence behind the door cemented the fact she knew it was you, yet the door opened and revealed Beth just as disheveled as you were. Her long brown hair was tossed up into a bun, and the makeup she had worn earlier was gone, a redness rimming her eyes in its place. You wanted to wrap your arms around her to apologize for everything, but Beth wasn’t that person. She didn’t want affection. She wanted words.
“Can I come in?” You asked.
She nodded slowly, cracking the door open wider to let you step into her room. It was just as you remembered it: the fluffy white bed in the corner, the scattered polaroids on the wall, and the full-length mirror propped in the corner that you had gotten ready in front of before. Beth sat on the corner of her bed, her head hung as you joined her.
“I’m sorry,” she started. “I was a real bitch at dinner.”
You leaned into her, resting your head on her shoulder.
“You kinda were,” you chuckled. “But I understand. I shut you out. I shut everyone out, honestly. It’s easier to be alone.”
“No, it’s not,” she argued.
“Maybe, but it’s what I thought was best for me. You were right about Bennett, and I didn’t listen to you when I should have.”
“You may be older, but you are so stupid.”
You laughed harder at that, feeling her hand reach around and grip yours. You squeezed her fingers, your chest rising and falling normally. You missed this Beth, the one that could make light of the worst.
“You know I couldn’t have come home, right? I made a life out in Austin, even without Bennett. I even went to his law firm and asked where he had gone, and all they said was that he took a job out of state. I was so scared he came back here, and if I came back to Boston, I’d see him again.”
“Why are you so afraid of him?” She asked.
“Because he broke my heart worse than I could have ever imagined. I don’t know what I’d do if I saw him again, Beth. I’d be terrified.”
Beth glanced down at you, shrugging you off her shoulder so you could meet her eyes. Tears swam in her blue eyes, rolling over onto her cheeks.
“You’re stronger than that. You always have been.”
“I don’t feel like it sometimes.”
She sighed, brushing away tears you hadn’t realized escaped your eyes.
“Don’t let some shit guy ruin your life. You deserve to be happy, sis. There’s going to be someone so much greater out there.”
Flashes of Joel’s dark eyes and curly hair swam into your mind when she said those words. You didn’t want to believe Joel would be that person, but even your mind betrayed you. You willed it away, hoping you’d keep any thought of him lingering in the back of your head.
“I know,” you said. “Eventually, there will be.”
“There’s already someone, isn’t there?” She quirked an eyebrow.
You wanted to deny it and lie, but you wanted your friendship back. So, you told her everything, starting at the father-daughter dance and leading up to the phone call that had just ended. Beth had a massive grin while you spoke, nodding with every detail you shared.
“So… you’re gonna give him a chance, right?” She questioned.
“I can’t. He’s my students’ dad, and I can’t do that. It wouldn’t be right.”
“Then sneak around,” she pressed. “Here’s this amazing guy who’s obviously into you, and you’re gonna let that slip away because of what’s right and wrong?”
“What would you do?” You exhaled, falling back against her bed. You stared at the ceiling fan, watching it twirl in circles, hoping an answer would be hidden in its blades.
“I’d have amazing sex with him,” Beth chuckled, laying back beside you. “And then maybe fall in love, I don’t know. But sex for sure.”
“You’re terrible,” you giggled.
Beth laughed along with you, shuffling her body closer so both of you were shoulder to shoulder. Coming home would feel like this again, but coming home would mean losing everything all over again. You’d lose your job and the house you loved so much… and you’d lose Joel. For some reason, the idea of not seeing him around made your heart ache in ways you hadn’t felt in a long time. Maybe Beth was right; maybe you’d give Joel a chance.
It was well into the night when you finally found yourself unwinding in bed and curling under the covers. You held your phone close to your chest, wondering if it was too late to call. In Boston, it was nearly midnight. Austin was only an hour behind, but you knew Joel worked early with his company. You didn’t want to assume he’d be asleep already, but the chances were slim he was awake and waiting for you.
You dialed his number anyway.
It barely reached the second ring before he answered, your name as sweet as ever rolling through the receiver.
“I didn’t think you’d call,” he said. “Figured you forgot all about me.”
“Never,” you whispered, trying to keep your voice down. Everyone was asleep in the house, and the last thing you wanted was for them to hear you talking on the phone late at night like you were a teenager all over again.
“Y’figure everythin’ out with your family?” He asked.
“Yeah, it’s all good now.”
“Why’re you whisperin’?” He chuckled.
“Because everyone is asleep,” you tossed back.
“Sneakin’ around late then, huh?”
“Don’t tease me, Mr. Miller.”
“I’ll tease all I want,” he countered.
You blew out a breath, rolling over in the bed. With your knees curled up to your chest, you listened to Joel’s soft breathing and wondered if he was in bed, too. You wondered what he looked like, stretched out against the mattress, and if his body was as warm as his smile.
“Are you going to tell me about Romeo and Juliet? Or are you just going to sidetrack us again?” You asked softly.
Joel let out a heavy sigh, and you could hear rustling behind him. He was in bed, and for some reason, that enticed you.
“You coulda warned me that they both die,” he started. “If it weren’t for Paris, they coulda had a happy ending!”
“The whole point of the story is to have a tragic ending. Shakespeare warned everyone in the foreshadowing, with Montague saying, ‘These violent delights have violent ends.’ It’s supposed to be a story about the chaos of passion.”
“Still ain’t makin’ up for the fact they never got to be together,” Joel grumbled.
“Not every story is a happy ending,” you exhaled, wincing at the words you spoke. You didn’t die because of Bennett, but the story hit too close to home. Between the chaos of family and the violent ends of your relationship, you had nearly become Juliet, killing herself over a man. Not literally, but the pain after the wedding was a death within itself.
“Why d’you like it so much?” Joel asked.
“Wasn’t that your job to find out?”
“I’m not gonna lay here and make assumptions ‘bout you, but I get the feelin’ you’re a lot like Juliet.”
“Maybe,” you muttered quietly.
“Who’s Romeo then?”
He didn’t sound angry, but you knew he only asked because he wanted to understand you better. And fuck, if that wasn’t a turn-on in itself.
“He’s the one that left me at the altar.”
There was a heavy silence from his end of the phone. You wanted to take the words back and shove them deep within you where the world couldn’t hear them. No matter how many times you said it aloud, it never felt easier. But it was the unfortunate truth; your love story had a tragic ending.
“Jesus fuck, I’m so sorry,” Joel exhaled.
“Don’t be. I’m okay.”
“Whoever did that didn’t deserve you. Perfect girl like you ain’t deserve someone that shitty.”
Perfect girl.
You had to clench your thighs together at the way his voice roughened when he said those two words. You wanted to play them on a loop over and over until you were mindless. Bennett never called you perfect—beautiful, maybe, but never perfect. He knew you for five years and never said it; Joel knew you for a month and not only said it…but believed it.
“I stayed with him a lot longer than I should have.”
“Wanna talk about it?” Joel offered, his voice gentler than a moment ago.
“Not right now,” you whispered. “I’ll make you a deal.”
“I’m listenin’.”
You were playing with fire now, and maybe it was the vulnerability of the day catching up to you, but Beth’s words were stuck in your head. There’s going to be someone so much greater out there.
“Ask me anything you want over dinner.”
Silence. Dead silence.
You held your breath, waiting for a response, waiting for anything. You could handle rejection, or at least you hoped you could. You hadn’t put yourself out there since Bennett left, and the idea of being unlovable was hard to wrap your head around. Did he ruin you to the point of no return? Was there any hope left?
“I’m not gonna take y’out to dinner and talk about your ex-fiancé,” Joel grumbled.
“Oh, okay, yeah. I understand.”
The tears were welling in your eyes now, threatening your composure. He didn’t want to take you out anymore; that was fine. Who would want to deal with the broken pieces left in the wake of your past?
“If I’m gonna take you out, it’s gonna be a proper date where I get to know you,” Joel lowered his voice, the sound echoing through your head.
“A date?” You laughed nervously.
“Yes.” He said your name in a stern tone that stalled your breathing. “Quit bein’ all professional, and let me take you somewhere nice so I can really get to know you. That’s all I been wantin’ to do.”
“I’ll make you another deal,” you offered.
“God, you and your damn deals. Alright, let’s hear it,” he chuckled.
“When I’m back, ask me on a proper date.”
“Haven’t I already done that? The offer still stands, y’know.”
“I wasn’t ready to say yes when you asked. I think I’m ready now.”
“Bout damn time,” he laughed. “I swear I’m a patient man, but I’ve been goin’ out my damn mind waitin’ for you.”
“I’m sorry,” you mumbled. That was always the default response these days.
“You’re worth waitin’ for, I promise.”
You were at a complete and total loss for words. How did Joel always say everything you had always wanted to hear? You tried not to compare him to Bennett, but this was far beyond anything you had received in the past. It was foreign but so sweet. You allowed yourself to take the plunge; now, every risk was heightened. If the heartbreak Bennett had caused was this bad, you hoped never to find out what losing Joel would feel like.
“Y’still there?” He asked.
“Yeah, I’m still here,” you whispered. You didn’t realize how long your thoughts had silenced you. “I’m looking forward to you asking me.”
“And I’m lookin’ forward to askin’…again.”
You smiled to yourself and shoved your head further under the covers. You could hear Joel yawning on the other end of the phone, and you realized just how late it was. You could listen to him talk until you fell asleep, but you wouldn’t keep him any longer.
“Go and get some sleep, Mr. Miller.”
“Y’sayin’ I’m old?” He grumbled.
“I’m saying I can hear you yawning over there,” you quipped.
“Alright, alright. Maybe we should both be gettin’ sleep. Can I call you tomorrow?”
“Yeah, I’d like that.”
“Goodnight,” he whispered.
“Goodnight, Mr. Miller.”
The rest of the week went smoother than you had imagined. After the conversation with Beth, you both fell back into the familiar routine of being close. You’d catch her sliding you small smiles while you were out around the city, a deep concern crossing over her eyes, knowing how hard it was to relive the memories. Boston hadn’t changed, making it easier knowing you had made the right decision to leave. Stella introduced you to her new boyfriend, and your parents cooked a huge dinner to include him in a family evening together. And every night, you’d stay up late talking to Joel on the phone.
He told you tiny snippets of his day and what had happened at work while you shared pieces of your day traveling around town with family. You noticed how he sidestepped or avoided asking deeper questions about you, and it was sweet knowing that he really wanted to wait for that date to ask those questions. Those late-night talks became something you looked forward to, even if they were filled with mundane things to chat about.
Friday came quicker than you expected, and you were fidgeting to get on the plane home. Joel had asked the night before when you were landing and insisted on being the one to pick you up from the airport. You were struggling to continue saying ‘no’ to him, and frankly, you wanted him to be the first person you saw when you arrived.
Austin’s skyline was dotted with lights as the plane touched down in the evening. Those few hours on the plane felt like an eternity, but as you scrambled down the tunnel into the airport, you felt a surge of excitement flowing through your body. Something had shifted over the week between you and Joel; that line between professional and unprofessional slowly disappeared. You were losing the battle inside you to keep your distance from him, and God made it so easy to do that. His charm kept you coming back for more, and the idea of what could happen between the two of you was terrifying, but the risk was beginning to look less dangerous. You felt comfortable, which was far from what you felt with Bennett. You always had to be the best version of yourself, the perfect image of a perfect girlfriend and fiancé. But you realized with Joel, you could let your control slip. He had seen and heard your vulnerability more times than you wanted to allow, yet he didn’t run away.
He didn’t run away.
That thought slammed into you as you walked through the airport, knowing you weren’t walking towards an empty altar. You were walking towards a man willing to wait for you—for the first time.
As you made it through the crowd of other travelers, you finally emerged into the lower level of the airport, your eyes darting around to find Joel. In the chaos of bodies walking around, his tall figure stood above the rest, a small bouquet of flowers in hand. Your steps slowed as you approached, your eyes shifting from the flowers to his welcoming smile.
“What’s this?” you asked, your cheeks pink from running or seeing him; you weren’t sure.
“Figured it would be a nice way to welcome you home,” Joel smiled, handing them to you.
The flowers were an array of colorful carnations, their orange and pink petals standing out against the green leaves surrounding them. You took them from him and watched as he replaced the flowers in his hand with your luggage, insisting on carrying them for you. He wore a multi-colored flannel, the material stretching over his back and shoulders as he lifted your bags. You stood back, mesmerized, as he led you toward the parking garage.
“Thank you again,” you said. “I know you had a long work day, so thank you for driving out here.”
Joel looked over his shoulder and smiled at you. You noticed the scruff on his face was a bit grown out from the last time you saw him, but those bare patches still stood strong. There was a strange urge inside you to kiss them and feel the warmth of the skin underneath.
“It’s no trouble at all,” he said.
His truck was parked far back in the parking lot, which made the walk together longer than you expected. The smell of the flowers enveloped you as you held them close to your chest. You could only count a handful of times Bennett had gotten you flowers and could count even fewer times he actually picked you up from the airport. Any time you went home to visit family, which was far and few, he used the excuse of work to avoid being there for you.
Joel lifted your luggage into the backseat of his truck, turning to you once he shut the door. He spoke your name softly, staring down at you as you gave him a curious look.
“Well, since you’re home now, I’m just gonna ask it,” he started. “Would you go out to dinner with me?”
“I’d love that,” you smiled, a blush crawling up your neck.
“Good,” he nodded. “I hope you’re hungry.”
“Wait, you mean right now?”
Joel leaned closer to you, tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear.
“I told you I’m a patient man, but I ain’t waitin’ any longer. So get your stubborn ass in my truck, and let me take you out.”
“You’re relentless, Mr. Miller,” you rolled your eyes.
Joel opened the passenger door for you, waiting patiently as you climbed in and buckled yourself.
“I’m gonna make sure you stop callin’ me that by the end of the night,” he said, his eyes trained on you.
Your breath stalled, and you wondered about the meaning behind his words. Joel probably didn’t mean it sexually, but that’s exactly where your brain went. This was only a date, nothing more, nothing less. You were already giving into him with this; you wouldn’t give in any more than that—no matter how badly you might want to.
“We’ll see, Mr. Miller,” you smirked.
Joel’s brown eyes darkened at your challenge, and you hoped he didn’t notice how your thighs clenched to quell the warmth pooling inside your stomach. You were staying strong on this one; saying his name meant giving up control entirely. If you gave up the control, you’d give up everything, and you weren’t sure if you could do that to yourself—not yet, at least.
You made small talk with Joel on the drive to his chosen restaurant. It was a casual steakhouse, but you were obviously underdressed from being on a plane for nearly four hours. Joel wasn’t much better either; his attire always seemed too casual and messy. Oddly enough, it was growing on you. You couldn’t imagine him wearing suits or dress-casual attire; it didn’t suit his persona. He was rugged through and through, and you liked that. You had judged him so early on, but the carefree way he carried himself amplified your attraction to him. Bennett always wore some bullshit suit and tie for work, looking overdressed and uncomfortable. Whenever he wasn’t working—which was rare—he still looked like a pretentious East Coast snob with his dress slacks and polo. God, the more you thought about it, the more it pissed you off.
Once Joel and you were seated at a table and ordered, you found yourself squirming in your seat. Joel’s eyes were warm and unwavering in the restaurant's lighting as he focused on you. With his hands folded on the table, he kept his body pressed forward just to get closer to you.
“So, I know y’told me you had sisters,” he started. “Beth and Stella, right?”
“Mhmm,” you nodded, sipping the red wine before you. You hadn’t planned on drinking, but your body demanded some sort of aid in numbing the nerves coursing through your veins. “Stell is the youngest. She’s eighteen. She graduated high school this year and started attending Boston College in September. Beth is two years younger than me and works in graphic design for a company in downtown Boston.”
“If Beth is two years younger, that makes you…”
“I’m twenty-seven, Mr. Miller,” you chuckled.
Joel’s eyes widened a bit, most likely as he realized the age gap between you both. Clearly, he had to have noticed by now, but his reaction was still comical. You nervously bit your lip, wondering if the distance between your age would make him less interested. It’s only a date, you reminded yourself. He wasn’t interested in you that much.
“Shesh,” he whistled, leaning back into his chair. “I ain’t take you to be that young.”
“Sorry to disappoint,” you muttered.
He shook his head, reaching for his beer, and you watched him take a long sip before responding.
“No, it’s not like that,” he reassured. “Y’just surprise me, that’s all.”
“How so?” You asked, leaning forward.
“Y’act so mature sometimes,” he explained. “You’re big on actin’ professional and adult-like.”
“It’s my job,” you said.
“Bein’ a teacher shouldn’t stop you from enjoyin’ your twenties,” he countered.
You sighed, nodding along to his words. A lot of things had stopped you from enjoying your twenties, like a particular asshole you thought you’d spend your life with. Being young and careless was never something in the cards for you, and honestly, the closest thing you had gotten to that was the night Joel saw you at the bar.
“Do you feel like being a young dad did the same for you?” You asked.
Joel inhaled sharply, scratching the back of his neck. You began to realize he did that a lot; in nervous moments, in moments he was deep in thought, in moments he felt awkward. Right now, you assumed it was because he was trying to formulate some sort of response.
“I ain’t really had a choice in it. When Sarah’s mom left, I was pretty lost tryna do the ‘dad’ thing. I had to juggle between work and bein’ present, and Tommy was young then, too, so he couldn’t help much. I just tried my best and learned as I went.”
“How old is Tommy?”
“Younger than you,” Joel laughed. “He’s twenty-five.”
“Oh gosh, you guys have a big age gap, too.”
“That we do.”
The waiter brought your meals, forcing the chit-chat to stall while you indulged in the steak and side dishes in silence. Occasionally, Joel would hum as he ate, glancing up at you to see your reaction to the flavors as well. You returned his curious eyes with soft smiles, indulging in how he looked at you like you were something he hungered for far more than the food in front of him. When the plates cleared and your napkins were disposed of, Joel asked the waiter for another round of drinks so that you both had no option but to remain seated in each other's company.
“What made you want to be a teacher?” He asked, smoothing down the flannel over his stomach.
Your eyes caught onto the movement of his hand as it brushed down his navel, the veins flexing as he readjusted himself in his chair. Joel dipped his head slightly to draw your attention back to his soft eyes, and you instantly felt caught in your actions.
“I’m not sure, honestly. I’ve always loved literature, and the idea of teaching young kids about it just seemed appealing. There’s a lot of power in words, you know? I want to show them that.”
“That’s pretty poetic of you to say,” he smirked.
“Well, I hope so. I literally teach poetry for a living.”
Joel chuckled quietly, the lines around his eyes crinkling as his smile stretched across his face. Was it terrible that you were picturing him kissing you? Despite every thought in your head that shouted at you not to think about it, it was all you could focus on.
“Do you enjoy your job?” You countered.
“I do, most days. Tommy and I are tryna start up our own business one day, but it ain’t in the cards yet. I need to save up a bit more and hopefully work on gettin’ permits and all that before I can actually do it,” he explained.
“I believe in you,” you said softly. “You’re a hard worker, Mr. Miller.”
“Well, thank you.” His cheeks reddened at your words.
Both of you sat in comfortable silence for a moment, stealing shy glances and laughing at the emptiness of words. Joel had said he wanted to get to know you more, but the questions seemed far and few. In your mind, you considered that a second date could be in the cards, seeing as though neither of you had yet tired of the other. Even in the quiet moments, Joel had remained completely enraptured by you, never letting his eyes stray too far from yours.
“Y’ready to get home?” He asked once the bill was paid for.
“I suppose so,” you shrugged.
Joel’s hand was firm on your lower back as he guided you out of the restaurant and back to his truck. The featherlike touch against your clothed skin was enough to awaken that warmth back into your body, the feeling of it blooming inside you with each step. Inside the truck, you watched as the streets blurred past as Joel drove toward your home. The night was ending, yet you still ached at the thought of him leaving. You didn’t dare to take anything further, and you still didn’t know if that was something he wanted—or if it was something you wanted.
Seeing your tiny home was a breath of fresh air as Joel put his truck in park. You gathered the flowers from the seat and quietly helped him unload your luggage. The tension between you thickened with each step as you approached the front door. Turning to him, you smiled and squeezed his arm.
“Thank you,” you said, hesitating by the door. “For tonight and everything.”
Joel’s eyes sparkled under your porch light, the darkness of his irises illuminated and dancing in the shadows. He had shrugged off his flannel after hauling your luggage from the truck, and now it hung over his arms, exposing the corded veins running from his hands to his biceps.
“Of course,” he said your name softly. “Y’look beautiful tonight, by the way. I can’t remember if I told you that or not, but really, you’re beautiful.”
Your cheeks warmed at the compliment, and there was no way of hiding the redness creeping over your face and neck. He watched you with a hungry gaze, his eyes roaming your body. Even if you only stood in a sweatshirt and a pair of jeans, Joel looked at you like you were bare before him.
“Thank you,” you smiled. “I—I know I look like shit, but thank you.
“Y’definitly don’t look like shit,” Joel insisted. “I’ll plan another date so y’can get all dolled up and look even more beautiful.
“That’s not really necessary. I mean the dressing up part, not the date part. I’d like to go on another date.” You were rambling at this point.
“Sure it is. The world deserves to see y’look beautiful, even if I want to keep you to myself selfishly.”
“Stop it,” you blushed. “Go get home before it gets too late.”
“You tryna get rid of me that quick?”
“I know how much you enjoy talking,” you laughed.
“Yeah, yeah. Whatever,” he grinned, turning to leave. “Y’have a good night, okay?”
“I will. Goodnight, Joel.”
Then you realized what you had said.
He realized it, too.
“Y—,” Joel cut himself off. Shaking his head, he let his flannel fall to the ground. “Fuck it,” he whispered.
Joel swarmed you, pressing you against the door as his hands came up to cup your face. Without a second to breathe, his lips crashed against yours until stars sparked behind your eyes. His mouth was warm as he devoured you slowly, drinking in every noise you made. Every one of your senses was evaded by him: the scent of his cologne drifting over your body, the heat of his skin against yours, the sound of his mouth breathing into yours. You found yourself hesitant at first, adjusting to the hardness of his body pressed against yours. He must have also realized it, his mouth slowing as he pulled away.
“I—shit,” he muttered. “I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.”
Your fingers crawled up his chest and gripped at the collar of his shirt, hauling him back to you until your mouth was a breath away from his.
“Just shut up and kiss me again,” you whispered.
Then his lips pressed against yours again, this time frantic and all-consuming. You opened your mouth to him, letting him taste the vulnerability spilling out of you, replacing it with desperation you hadn’t yet dared to feel. Your tongue darted out to brush over his bottom lip, and he captured it in another greedy kiss, intertwining himself with you. Joel’s hands moved to tangle in your hair, his fingers lightly pulling as he drew you in closer. Your hands wound their way around his neck; your chest flush against his until all you could feel was the rapid beating of his heart matching yours. There was no way of telling where he began and you ended; you both had melted into one. Lips, teeth, tongue… over and over again, the motion repeated, and you felt the warmth creeping up your spine the more he moved against you. You sunk your teeth into his lip, tugging it slightly, as you pulled away to gasp for air.
“Joel,” you exhaled, panting softly.
“Yeah, baby?” His voice was rough as he pressed his forehead to yours.
“What are we doing?”
“I don’t know, but I don’t wanna stop.”
He lowered his lips to kiss down your neck, the chill of his mouth on you prickling your skin. You couldn’t form any words to tell him to stop. You didn’t want him to stop. You were mindless and boneless in his strong grasp, completely untethered from your control. All you could focus on was the way his mouth roamed over the column of your neck, the veins that your blood rushed through throbbing under his lips. Joel’s hand traveled back around, his thumb tipping your jaw upwards so that he could kiss more of your skin. Your eyes blinked at the flickering bulb of your porch light, the sound of crickets chirping somewhere in the distance. His tongue traced a line up your neck, his teeth nipping against your jaw. You let out a soft whine as his mouth connected to yours again, the passion between you snapping into place.
The night wasn’t ending here. You needed more. The craving was too intense to keep at bay, and you needed him in ways you had been too afraid to admit. Your fingers wound themselves into the curls at the base of his neck, holding him firm against you as you grinned into his open mouth.
“Come inside,” you mumbled against his moving lips.
You fumbled blindly for your keys, twisting around to unlock your door; all the while, Joel kept his lips on any part of your skin he could find. He reached around you to shove the door open, and with one arm wound around your waist, you both tumbled over the threshold.

MATH WAS never really anyone’s strong suit at Mission Creek and if you found yourself passing without needing a tutor, you might as well consider yourself lucky.
And she couldn’t believe that she was standing in front of her teacher with the fattest frown on her face as she told her that she needed to find a tutor or else she would gradually find herself failing that class.
She didn’t want a tutor and she didn’t know anyone that could tutor her, but her teacher, Ms. Burke, told her that she could try and get in touch with Chase Davenport. According to her, he was her top student and would mostly like tutor her with no problem.
And she had no problem with Chase at all, in fact, the boy was adorable in his own way. He wasn’t very tall, in fact, he might only be a couple of inches taller than his brother, Leo. He was also a nerd, a cute nerd. He wasn’t like his other siblings Adam or Bree either. He was his own person and that’s what she liked about him.
They weren’t really friends, but they shared two classes together and worked on an english project together.
So, she wasn’t hesitant in approaching Chase, it was the fact that he was scared to approach her.
Chase thought she was beautiful and you’d be blind to think otherwise. To him, her hair was perfect, the way the light shined down on her skin made her look just as beautiful as she did at night. Just everything about her was beautiful and he was nervous around her.
And when Ms. Burke told him that she needed a tutor and he was the perfect candidate, he was hesitant to jump at the opportunity, but with a big breath and a heavy slap on the back from Adam, Chase found himself almost flying towards her locker.
She looked back to see Chase on the other side of her locker and she gave him a small smile which caused him jerk himself up and prop himself up against a nearby locker.
“Hey, Chase.” She smiled. “Did Ms. Burke ever get in touch with you about tutoring me?”
Chase nodded almost too quickly. “Yes, and I’d be happy to tutor you.”
“Great. That really means a lot.” She said, shutting her locker which caused the boy to flinch. “I’m free tonight if that works for you.”
“Yes!” He exclaimed.
She smiled, letting a small chuckle out as Chase cleared his throat and nodded.
“I mean, yes.” He said. “Yes, I am free tonight. To tutor.”
“Great. I’ll be over at 7.”
With that, you left Chase’s side as he held a small smile on his face, but that smile didn’t stay long when he realized that his family would be home and they would make this tutoring session the absolute worst for him.
CHASE HAD practically begged everyone in the Dooley-Davenport household to not embarrass him in front of her. To stay out of the living room until she left their house a couple of hours later. And he hoped he could actually rely on them to keep their and of the deal.
And soon enough, there was a small knock on the door and Chase stood to open it.
“Y/N!” He smiled. “Come in.”
She smiled, nodding as she stepped inside the Dooley-Davenport house. The house was smelled clean and of floral, something she sure had been the doing of their mother.
“Take a seat.” Chase smiled.
She joined Chase on the couch and pulled her textbook out of her bag.
“Thanks again for helping me out Chase.” She smiled. “I owe you big time.”
“Don’t worry about it.” He smiled, pulling out his own book. “As long as you’re passing, that’s all that matters.”
Soon enough, they began their tutoring session, but that didn’t last very long when Eddy lit up against the wall and smiled a very cocky, almost condescending smile.
“Yes, Eddy?” Chase begrudgingly asked.
“Maybe greet me with kindness as I warn you that Adam is about to enter the kitchen.”
Chase groaned and just like that, Adam enter the kitchen very nonchalantly and opened the refrigerator door and grabbing a handful of junk and laid it out on the counter, making a ton of noise as Chase and Y/N looked onward.
“Can we help you?” Chase asked, getting Adam’s attention.
Adam looked up, smiling towards them. “No, you’re fine. I’ve got this.”
Chase looked over at the girl with a small, fakeish smile as he held his finger up. “Give me one minute.” He muttered and made his way over towards Adam to scold him and ask why he’d come up to the kitchen.
“Here comes another.” Eddy laughed.
Just like that, Leo entered the living room.
“Has anyone see my phone?” He asked. “I’ve been looking for it for twenty minutes too long?”
And another.
“Thank God.” She smiled, joining Y/N on the couch. “I know Chase doesn’t really want us up here-“
“Wait? Why?” She asked.
“Oh…” Bree smiled. “because tutoring is… special… between two people, but I really need some advice about this guy I’m into and you’re the only girl here and-“
“Guys!” Chase shouted, causing all heads to turn his way. “Can we talk for a moment? In the hallway.”
The three followed the youngest Davenport into the hallway and down to the lab, shouting and asking why they had all come upstairs when he’d specifically asked them not to.
Everyone had pretty blunt answers, but Adam claimed that he didn’t think it was today even though Chase had made the agreement hours before she arrived and explained throughly that she would be here… today.
Chase sighed heavily, leaving his siblings alone in the lab and back upstairs, seeing that Eddy had grown into conversation with Y/N and showing her embarrassing pictures of him.
Chase quickly scolded that him and joined Y/N on the couch. He sighed heavily and faced her.
“I’m so sorry.” He said. “I didn’t mean for any of this to happen.”
She smiled, chuckling as she did so. “It’s okay, Chase. I don’t mind.”
“Trust me,” he sighed. “you will.”
Eventually, they were able to finally get the tutoring session done and over with without the distractions of his siblings who’d he locked down in the lab.
“Thanks for the help, Chase. I appreciate it.”
“No problem.” He smiled, standing up and following her to the door, opening it for her. “I’m here to help. And I’m really sorry about my family-”
“I told you not to worry about them.” She chuckled. “I like them.”
“You do?”
She nodded, holding her textbook close and bag slowly falling off her shoulder. “I do.” She smiled. “I’m sure we need more tutoring in order for me to pass… but maybe we can just… hang out one day.”
“Really?”
“Really.” She smiled. “You have my number. Just let me know when you’re free-“
“Tomorrow?”
She chuckled once more, nodding as she did so. “I’ll see you tomorrow, Chase.”
With that, she waved him goodbye and Chase shut the door behind him. Once that door was shut, the boy practically jumped to his feet in excitement.
And he was very, very thankful that his family hadn’t totally ruined the night for him.

“All right my loves!” you yell calmly to the children, them waving at their parents from the glass window, the group excited to head home after a tough day of school. “Come and sit on the rug for me, I have one more thing for you all before you get to go home!”
A bunch of chatter and pattering feet can be heard as the six-year-olds bounce over to the colourful, spotted rug, each plopping themselves down and crossing their legs as they look up at you with eager eyes.
You cross your arms and put your finger up to your lips, the children copying you and nudging their friends to look up at you and replicate your action. The final kid finally turned his eyes towards you and copied you, you shaking your head and smiling, “What took you so long Harry?”
He frowns slightly, “I’m sorry Miss, I wasn’t paying attention.”
If there’s one thing you could call a success in your teaching, it would be the ability for your kids to reflect on where they went wrong. It was one of the most important things they could learn as they grow.
“It’s okay honey, just remember to use those listening ears to hear your friends quieten down next time, okay?”
He nods as all of the kids sit with their hands tucked between their crossed legs, you now knowing that everyone was completely focused. “Firstly,” you smile softly, “You have all made amazing progress today, I’m very proud of each and every one of you.”
You can see each of them smile brightly, bouncing in their sitting position, especially the less-able kids, they deserved some extra love with all the hard work they put in to improve.
“Secondly,” you say, leaning over and grabbing a neat stack of papers, “Next week is your parent-teacher meetings! So, I’m each going to give you a letter and I want you to give it to your mommy or daddy, okay?”
The children nod, you smiling and standing up, giving each of them a letter. Once you put the spare sheets on the side, you say to them, “Okay, as always, stay seated and I’ll call you up if I see your mommies or daddies, okay?”
You walk over to the window, peering out to see two different parents stood next to each other: Mr. Byers and Mr. Harrington. Mr. Harrington, who from day one insisted you call by his first name Steve, waved at you, you giving a small smile back as you turn towards both dad’s daughters, “Okay, Ashley! Alena! Your daddies are here!”
The two girls stand up, toddling over to their tables to grab their backpacks, you giggling to yourself as you see how huge they look on their small figures. Ashley is the first to stand in front of you, smiling as you open the door, “Go and see daddy. See you tomorrow!” you say, the girl rushing over as Mr. Byers picks his daughter up, grabbing the sheet she was holding in her hand and heading out of the gate.
As you turn your back, Alena is standing there, grinning at her dad through the open door. Alena was a spunky character. She was super friendly, always willing to help out the other kids and almost always had her hair styled in two un-even pigtails. But, she wasn’t fussed, her hair usually a mess by the end of the day after tumbling around on the grass in the playground. The amount of times you had to bring in the poor girl when she had scraped her knees or elbows was insane, but she always put a brave face on. She was a very cute kid and you were lucky you got to teach her.
“Hello!” you say, pretending to jump at her sudden presence, making the young girl giggle, “Oh, come here my love, your backpack strap is twisted.” You lean down and un-twist the purple backpack strap, swiping the few bread crumbs off of it as you signal to her dad. “There’s your dad, honey. Have a great rest of your day!”
She bounces over to her dad, smiling as she passes him the letter, him taking a quick glance over it as he realises what it was.
He had to spend time talking with you. Just you, him and Alena. Alone.
It was no doubt that Steve knew of his little crush on you. He tried his best to push it to the back of his mind, but with seeing your gorgeous face five times a week, how could he ever forget about your beauty?
Now, he had to practically spend time alone with you. Sure, it was still under professional circumstances, but how was he supposed to concentrate? It was a meeting to talk about his daughter’s school progress, yet his mind treated it like a first date.
Steve looks up from the sheet to see your back turned attending to the other students, Alena tugging at his leg, “Daddy, come on! I wanna go home!”
“Yeah, okay, okay,” he replies, waiting for the moment for you to turn to face the window again, which you do. He can’t stop staring at you as you give him a small wave, Alena waving back at you as you giggle, the girl not knowing that you were in fact waving at her dad, who weirdly couldn’t stop looking at you. Strange.
You divert your eyes to attend to the next kid, Steve snapping out of his trance as Alena continues tugging at his jeans. “Okay pumpkin, I’m going, I’m going.”
He grabs his daughter’s hand as he heads out to the gate, him trying to compose himself at the inevitability of you two talking in private. Hopefully his daughter being there would be enough of a distraction.
Until she wasn’t…

You were setting up your classroom for the day. It was the start of a brand new week, so you knew it was going to be a little bit more tough on your end to get the kids to be quiet. They had curious minds, so they would definitely want to go into excruciating detail about their weekends to their friends.
A knock on the door can be heard as you lay out a worksheet full of math problems on the children’s desks. You turn around, smiling as you see Alena standing there with her dad, sheet of paper held between her small hands. “Good morning Mr. Harrington, and good morning to you too Alena!” you brightly say, her dad replying, “Please, just call me Steve.”
“Well,” you chuckle, “Good morning Steve and Alena. How was your guys’ weekend?” you ask, turning your back as you put out the final worksheets.
“Daddy and I went to the aquarium!” she beams.
“Ooh, that sounds like fun!” you smile widely, “Did you see lots of fish and sea creatures?”
“Uh huh!” she chirps, “I saw clownfish and seahorses and turtles and octopuses!”
“That sounds like you had a great time! But, remember, what do some plural nouns end in?” you ask her, trying to correct her on her simple mistake. Even you didn’t have the answer to why some end in ‘I’ instead of ‘Us,’ it was just another weird variation of the English language.
“Um…” she thinks, “They end in ‘I?’”
“Good job! So, it wouldn’t be octopuses, it would be…”
“Octopi!” she smiles brightly.
You put your last worksheet down as you walk over and ruffle her hair, “Well done!” You look down to the sheet of paper in her hand, “And what is this?” you ask, taking it from her delicate hands.
“Parent-teacher meeting letter,” Steve tells you, “Is it alright if I bring her along? I chose some of the earliest slots as it’s just easier for me to come straight from work to here instead of hiring a babysitter. But, if you just want parents alone, I’ll get a friend to pick her up.”
“No, it’s totally fine Mr. Har— Excuse me, Steve,” you reply, “I’m sure a lot of parents are in the same position as you. You can totally bring her along! It’s also an opportunity for her to hear how she can improve first hand, which is great. So…” you mumble, walking over to your computer and opening up Excel, “Alena… 3:45PM. Is it just you coming or is your wife coming also?”
He freezes up at the mention of his ex. His ex-girlfriend’s name wasn’t on the school system at all as he frankly has nothing to do with her. But, you’re Alena’s teacher, how were you supposed to know his life history? Steve stutters as he thinks of a reply, “I, um… I don’t have a wife…” Shit. Not the answer.
“Oh my Gosh,” you frantically say, looking up at him where he had now entered the classroom and was stood in front of your desk, “I am so sorry. I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had the chance to go through the student’s personal files yet. I apologise for assuming, I really am.”
God, you were too kind. It just made you all the more attractive.
“It’s okay,” Steve sighs, “It’s not even on the record. Well, her mother isn’t mentioned on there for… reasons, so it’s fine really.”
You sympathetically smile, “I may teach children Steve, but I know when an adult is hiding a pain too. Whatever happened, I truly am sorry, and you shouldn’t have to pretend that everything is okay to make others feel comfortable.”
He knew you were right. But, you were the first person to ever say it out loud. To be completely honest with him. No beating around the bush and just accepting his passiveness, you understood how he felt about Alena’s mother, even without the backstory. You’re exactly the kind of person he needs in his life.
You turn your head, sighing with a smile, your head leaning against your intertwined hands. Alena was sat at her desk, grabbing a piece of paper and a couple of crayons from the centre and doodling away. It was a rule in your classroom that no kid was to start their early morning worksheet before the bell rang. That way, no kid felt left behind.
“She’s such a good kid,” you smile, “She’s kind and brave and always completes her work. I’ll obviously tell you more of that on Wednesday, but you’ve done an amazing job raising her, especially as a single dad. I hope you know that.”
Steve looks into your gorgeous eyes, fumbling over his words, stunned at the comments that easily flow out of your mouth. You weren’t afraid to be kind, and that was a beautiful quality. “I try my best,” he awkwardly says, not used to the compliments, “I have a hard time accepting that, but, thank you anyway.”
“Of course,” you softly reply, “You deserve to hear it.”
The two of you stay in silence, the quiet sound of Alena’s crayons scraping across her paper being the only noise in the brightly decorated classroom. Steve rubs the back of his neck and coughs, “Well, I should get going. Head to work and all…” he says, pointing his thumb behind him towards the door.
“Uh, yeah…” you awkwardly reply, “Don’t want you to be late,” you quietly laugh.
“I’ll see you later,” he finalises, referring to when he would pick up his daughter at the end of the day. You nod, Steve heading over to Alena and asking for a kiss which she gives him, before he turns around and heads towards the door, exiting the classroom.
You sit there in contemplation, how did you compliment him so easily? You didn’t do that to other parents, and you knew that a few of them were single moms. Why just him? Why did you feel different towards him?
Steve was feeling a similar way as he pushed the door open out to the main entrance. He swore he wasn’t going crazy, he felt something between the two of you. It couldn’t have just been his crush on his daughter’s school teacher convincing him that. He’s dated women in the past and even they haven’t complimented him to that extent. Even the women he tried to date as Alena was growing up hadn’t dared say anything complimentary about his parenting skills. You were different. You showed him the kind of praise he always wanted.
He was falling in love with his daughter’s teacher.

Your day had gone pretty well. As predicted, the students were extra chatty because of their busy weekends, but you didn’t mind. All of them getting along with minimum bullying in your class is what made you most proud. If they were kind to each other, a little extra talking was good for the mind. They were developing, which means their brains were super busy. It was a sign of healthiness.
All of the parents had shown up on time to collect their kids, which was the biggest accomplishment for you. Usually, at least one parent was running late, so you had to take on the task of guiding them to the front desk to wait for their mom or dad. But, today you were free, meaning you got to go home a little earlier, or so you thought.
As you led the last kid out to their parent, you shut the door, beginning to tidy up the classroom before you drive home. However, a faint knock can be heard against the glass, you turning to see Steve and Alena patiently waiting outside, his larger hand holding her smaller one.
You open the door, you smiling and saying, “Hi guys!” Steve speaking up, “Hi, um… I know you’ve probably filled up a lot of your slots by now, but is it okay if I could change the time for our parent-teacher meeting? Work asked me to stay an extra two hours.”
“Of course!” you reply, walking over to your desk, “I’ve shut down the computer for now, but I’ll make a note in my planner, okay? I keep everything stored twice in case this thing decides to play up.”
“Sounds great.”
You flip through the pages, finding Wednesday’s date and opening the cap to your pen, “Okay. How late are we talking?”
“You have anything after 6PM?” Steve asks, “I can do slightly earlier if it’s a problem for you, but I don’t want to accidentally run late and mess everything up.”
“Not to worry,” you reply, “I’m pretty sure I have after six,” you look down through the list, finding some empty slots after 6PM, “Yes, I do. I have 6:15 and 6:25. Any preference?”
“6:15 would be great, thank you,” he says with a sigh, thankful that his change of work schedule hasn’t messed up yours. You cross out Steve’s 3:45 appointment and re-write him in for 6:15, making sure to update that in the school system tomorrow.
“Also,” he starts, “Is it alright if I get my friend Robin to pick up Alena on Wednesday?”
“Um…” you think, “If you could give me a description of them, that would be helpful. You know, keeping the kids safe and all. Don’t want to give your daughter to any stranger who claims they are your friend, you know?”
“No, I totally get it,” he replies, “She has a dirty blonde coloured hair that, I guess is shoulder length? She has a fringe too, slight wave to her hair. A little shorter than me, so I guess like 5’9-ish. Blue eyes, freckles on her face, she had black painted nails the last time I saw her which was like three days ago. Is that good enough?”
“Yes, let me just write it down so I don’t forget. I’ll confirm with Alena on the day anyway, she’ll probably be excited to see her,” you say, making a note underneath your column of parent-teacher meeting times.
“Oh yeah,” Steve chuckles, “She calls her Auntie Robin, so if she yells that, you have the right person.”
“Great,” you smile, mumbling out, “Okay… Alena picked up by ‘Auntie’ Robin — short, dark blonde hair with fringe, blue eyes, freckles, black nails. Okay, all written down.”
“Thank you,” Steve breathes out, “I’m still on for dropping her off tomorrow and Wednesday, it’s just picking her up Wednesday afternoon that’s the change. Hope it’s not too much of a fuss.”
You wave your hand, “You’re fine, trust me. It’s only one day, you pick her up every single other day on time. Plus, you told me in advance, which many parents have failed to do in the past,” you softly laugh, reminding yourself of the endless days of random people claiming they’ve come to pick up a certain child, you having to go through the endless hassle of contacting the parent to confirm the stranger is who they claim they are.
“Yeah, well, I thought it was best you should know. Hawkins is a scary place, I’m sure you’re well aware,” he awkwardly smiles, trying not to focus of the events that happened just under ten years ago.
“Yeah, not got the best reputation around here,” you laugh, brushing your hair behind your ear. “Well, I guess I will see you in the morning.”
Steve smiles, lifting Alena up onto his hip, “You will. And again, thank you for letting me change the time.”
“No problem at all,” you smile, “Bye Steve. Bye Alena!” you shout, her giving you a big smile and a wave from over Steve’s shoulder. God, she was a cute kid. And her father… Well, he wasn’t bad-looking either.

The parent-teacher meetings had been going well so far. You had conversations with parents that were brave, their kids little mini-me’s of them, to kids you just wanted to save from the inevitable attitude they would someday inherit from their parents. As a teacher, it sometimes felt that you were becoming the mother that the children wish they had.
No parent had actually booked after 6:15, so Steve was your final parent to speak with, and you couldn’t wait to gush about how beautiful of a girl Alena was.
As you bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. Cromwell, you sigh in your seat, leaning far back and placing your hands on your face. A voice interrupts you, “Not the nicest, huh?”
You move your hands away, leaning forward once again and softly laughing, “Yeah, bit of a silver spoon shoved up there.”
Steve enters the classroom and takes a seat in front of your desk, “I hate parents like that. I heard them from outside saying that you were lying about Rhys. Like, come on man, just accept that your child has flaws. You didn’t even say anything bad!” he exclaims, arms flailing up in the air.
“Right?” you smile widely, “All I said is he needs to improve on his spelling and suddenly I’m the worst person in the world. I never even said it was a bad thing, they came to that conclusion. I don’t expect every child to be perfect at everything, I wouldn’t even say that about Alena, it’s normal for children to have a few tough spots in their education.”
Steve softly smiles, “Well, you’re lucky I won’t complain even if Alena was bad at everything.”
You laugh, “I certainly won’t be doing that. Speaking of, shall we start?”
“Of course.”
“Okay,” you say, flipping through your grade sheets and coming across Alena’s name, “Firstly, grades. I don’t really do a typical grade system, your A-F kind of thing, I actually do it in stars. A bit weird, I know, but it actually helps the kids understand their current learning levels, so I just adopt it as well,” you smile.
Steve grinned at your explanation, actually preferring your way of grading. So what if it was weird? It was different, and he liked that.
“Her spelling is spectacular, 10/10 on her spelling bee last week, 9/10 the week before. Pretty consistent in the top levels there. That would land her in adult talk around an A, so that’s five stars in child’s talk,” you say, turning the page over to the reading section, “Are you aware of our reading levels?”
He furrows his eyebrows, “I can’t remember what the highest level is again.”
“Not to worry,” you reply, looking him in the eye, “So we do levels 1-6. One obviously being the lowest, six being the highest. Six is very rare in this class, just for warning. I think I only have two students on level six, so don’t panic that Alena’s not there yet. She’s on level four, which is just above average, a B grade if you will. Plenty of room for improvement, so I’m not overwhelmingly worried.”
Steve laughs, “Definitely a change from me. I can’t spell for shit,” he freezes, “Sorry, I shouldn’t curse, should I?”
You chuckle, “We’re technically out of school hours, curse all you want honey.”
Honey. That was new.
“Now,” you say, flipping over to the next page, “She is struggling a little with math. I’ve noticed that she gets her numbers confused around a little. When counting on her fingers, sometimes she skips a number or goes ‘3, 2, 3.’ And that has sadly affected her in other subjects. We sometimes do timelines in history, and her switching up of numbers means she’ll put a date from the 1500’s in front of the 1600’s. So, she’s currently on two stars, which is sadly a D in normal grades. But, it is only simple mistakes. If she doesn’t get those numbers mixed up, she’ll naturally bump herself up to a B, possibly even an A. I was wondering if you could help me out with this next part.”
“Of course,” Steve replies, “Anything to help my pumpkin.”
You smiled to yourself. What a cute nickname.
You pass him over a couple sheets of paper, “Since I have fifteen kids to teach, sometimes it’s a little hard to notice the mistakes Alena is making before I mark her work, and the markings do equate to the grades. So, I have some math problems here, and I was wondering if you could maybe help her at home? Try and get her out of the habit of skipping numbers or mixing them up. That way, if you know they’re right, you can bring them in, I’ll mark them, and they’ll bump up her grade. Also, the affect of you getting her out of the habit will probably help her in class too.”
He takes the sheets off of you, “Totally, I’m on it. She’s still doing better than I ever did at school, so that’s always a bonus,” he slightly chuckles.
You smile, shaking your head, “To be honest, as humans, we’re not supposed to be good at everything. I shouldn’t really tell you my thoughts on this, but the education system is designed for competition. The idea is that kids are supposed to be good at everything, which is utter bullshit to me. Alena is probably just not gifted at math, and that’s okay.” You sigh, “But, because of the system design, if she wants to graduate first grade, she’ll need to get at least a C in math.”
Steve smirks, “Ain’t that the truth. But, I understand. Math homework will be on the agenda for this weekend,” he smiles.
You close your book, “That’s the main grades done. Writing is also very on point, she can trace the letters almost perfectly. It’s just removing that guide now and seeing how she does without it,” you smile.
“Great,” Steve agrees.
“Now, I’ve done this with every parent tonight, so I’m just going to talk about how Alena is as a growing human, because no amount of grades will ever outweigh personality, and it definitely won’t for Alena. She’s is such a sweet girl. She’s always willing to help others, easily makes friends due to her kind persona and has really respectable manners,” you explain, “I mean, you saw what she was like on Monday morning. Instantly came in, followed my rules about not starting any tasks until the bell rings, and just sat there drawing. She’s amazing at being honest and respectful, but also has just enough spunkiness to set her apart in a crowd. What I’m saying is, you’ve done an amazing job raising her Steve, and I’m sure she gets her beautiful personality from you.”
Steve can’t help but let a small blush rise to his cheeks at your compliments. Again, it was just something about you. You take notice, but don’t point it out, smiling widely at his reaction.
Steve sighs happily, “Well, I’m glad she’s like that. I wasn’t the most… nicest person at school. I let the popularity get to my head, all that shit. Treated everyone lower than me like they were a second-class citizen. Even did that to Jonathan, Mr. Byers, for a while. His wife is actually my ex,” he chuckles, “She pretty much got me out of that shitty popularity ordeal. So, I think I just want my daughter to be the opposite of me. Be the me I could’ve been when I was younger, you know?”
You nod, “I get that. I’ve learnt that parenting can either be one of two things: you don’t want your kids to end up like you, or you want them to be exactly like you. Based on how you described yourself, I’m glad you chose the first option. Although,” you shrug your shoulders, “I would give yourself some credit. It seems like you’ve done the inner healing and reflection to give your daughter a chance to become a kind human being. A shit person can’t create a nice one.”
“Yeah,” he thinks, “Maybe you’re right. I do still say mean stuff every now and again. Judge people before knowing them, all that kind of shit. I’m not proud of it, but it’s just engrained into me by now.”
You look into his eyes, “I think that’s more a generational thing. I mean, I try my best to see why people act the way they do, but even I judge people. What I said for Alena also applies for you too, Steve. Humans aren’t meant to be this definition of perfect. We’re always gonna have a flaw. You can try and work on it as much as you want, but there’s only so far you can go. Sometimes, it’s just easier to accept that’s who you are and it’s actually doing you more harm than good the more you critique yourself for it.”
You were so goddamn smart. You couldn’t have been more than twenty five years old, and yet, you had a better understanding of life than he ever did. Maybe it was seeing life through a kid’s lens, but he feels that can’t be all to the intellect. Life experiences make you understand the world. It sure helped him understand it. He was intrigued. He wanted to understand your mind, get to know you better than just his daughter’s teacher. You were such a beautiful soul and had such a fascinating mind.
Steve has no words as he stares at you in awe, unaware that he hadn’t even said anything as you clear your throat, “Um… anyway…” you begin, grounding Steve back to reality, “Do you have any questions for me?”
His mind did go to asking you out on a date. But, you were his daughter’s teacher, was that even allowed? Was that breaching any rules or codes?
And little did he know you were asking yourself the same questions. Your brain was itching to research into the questions. Why did he have to be one of your student’s dads?
“Uh, no, no I don’t,” he stutters out, taking this as a queue for him to leave as he raises from his chair. You hold out your hand, him taking it as you shake it, each basking in the warmness of the other’s palm.
“Well, thank you Steve for being here. I usually do another one of these around March time, so I hope to see you here for one of these again then!” you smile.
“Of course,” he replies, “But, really I should be thanking you. Supporting me and all when I basically rambled about my life.”
“Just because it’s a parent-teacher meeting doesn’t mean I have to lose all my kindness to be professional,” you sympathetically say.
Steve hums in agreement, you weren’t completely wrong. He’d take you any day to compliment and uplift him. If only he could somehow have that…
“Yeah… Well, see you tomorrow morning,” he smiles, turning his back and heading out the classroom door.
You stand up and start to pack away your folders and planners into your bag, thinking about Steve. You could tell that he wanted to change, wanted to shape his daughter into the man he never was. Give her the opportunity he only wished he had. But, there was something about him. Sure, he had a gorgeous mop of hair and the prettiest hazel eyes, but there was something inside too. A sense of kindness, warmth, comfort. Something you’d never felt so intensely with a man before.
Shit. You were falling for your student’s father.

Todo hangs the signed Takada-Chan poster on the wall right next to his bed. He wants it to be the first thing he sees when he wakes up. There are, of course, many other Takada posters already displayed around his studio apartment, but this one is different. This one is special. It has his name and his future wife’s name on it.
“I still can’t believe you got to meet Takada-Chan today. That’s wild,” Yuji comments, biting into a slice of pizza. Tonight, the brothers are watching a collection of action movies and stuffing their faces with junk food.
Todo sits on the opposite side of the couch, staring up at the ceiling with a small grin on his face. “I knew this day would come. My patience all these years is finally paying off! I’m this much closer to being Mr. Aoi Takada.”
Yuji snorts. “Dude, you’re going to take her name? Really?”
“We don’t abide by conformist laws in this household. I will proudly take Takada-Chan’s name,” Todo declares, dramatically clutching his chest over his heart.
With his mouth full, Yuji muffles, “Isn’t it weird that you had to lie to get her attention though? I mean, she thinks you and that other fan are a couple.”
“It’s not weird. It’s strategic.”
His brother shrugs. “I guess. It’s pretty cool of that girl to go along with it. She must really be a huge fan if she’s willing to put up with you, even if it is just pretend. She even let you keep the poster.”
He still can’t wrap his head around what happened earlier in the day. He was already exhausted after the mission, but when he saw that long line, it put him in a worse mood. Who knew that his rival would be the one to come to his rescue? Well, her and Takada-Chan, of course. When he saw them standing in front of him together, he couldn’t help feeling elated. And after today’s experience, he starts to think that maybe him and his rival can start being cordial with each other. She is the mastermind behind this whole scheme. And she did give him the poster. The least he can do is be less of an asshole to her, right?
~~~
July 16th is a Saturday, though most importantly, it is Takada-Chan’s birthday. You find out your favorite café, Club Coffee, is hosting a Takada-Chan birthday celebration. They’ll have different types of treats and drinks that are Takada themed, as well as life-sized cardboard cut outs of the pop idol for photos.
When Saturday arrives, you and Sara get ready for the café event. Inspired by her outfit from the Meet and Greet, you decide to dress up for the occasion in an off-the-shoulder black blouse and plaid mini skirt. You accessorize with a red choker and black combat boots. Only Takada-Chan could pull off platform heels, so you don’t bother. Also, knowing yourself, you would definitely eat shit walking around in those. Not wanting to copy Takada’s look completely, you style your hair into two braids instead of pigtails. You twirl around for Sara, asking her, “What do you think?”
“Like you’re totally ready to seduce a teacher,” she teases.
“I wasn’t trying to go for a schoolgirl look!” you protest, self-conscious.
Sara grabs your shoulders and faces you towards the mirror. “No, it’s cute. Very cute, I promise you. Now let’s go before it gets too crowded.” You can always count on Sara to give you that confidence boost you need.
The two of you make your way to Club Coffee. There’s a huge banner over the storefront reading, “Happy Birthday Tall Idol Takada-Chan!” A life-sized cardboard cutout of the pop idol doing her signature pose is placed near the store window. Fans gather around the front, taking pictures with it. It’s not nearly as crowded as the previous events you’ve attended because multiple cafes and shops around the area are hosting their own celebrations. As soon as you walk inside, you hear the distinct beat of one of the pop idol’s songs blasting through the speakers, giving the establishment a night club vibe, which you love.
As you stand in line to order, you and Sara peruse the menu, both of you shimmying to the music as you decide what you want. There are a variety of dishes, savory and sweet, that are special for today. You order the Caprese Sandwich, one of Takada’s favorite meals, and the “Matcha Takada Latte”, which comes with latte art of the idol’s face. For dessert, you pick something called the “Taka-tan Beam Sweet Dream”, which is basically a slice of vanilla cloud cake with strawberries and cream. Sara goes for the “Love Gem” cookies and a black coffee, both of you agreeing to share the sandwich. As you place your order with the barista, Sara finds a booth near the back of the café. You make your way towards her, stopping once to interact with another female fan complimenting your outfit.
“This is awesome!” you exclaim, sitting next to Sara, setting the buzzer on the surface. “Even if Takada-Chan isn’t physically here, I feel her presence all around me.”
“It’s probably because there are all these creepy cardboard cutouts of her. I feel like I’m in a weird Takada-Chan fever dream,” Sara shudders. “Also, the food and drinks we ordered might take a while, considering how busy it is.”
“That’s alright, I don’t mind waiting! Thanks for coming with me.” You sidle right next to her to give her a big hug.
“Yeah, yeah, don’t get sappy with me. I’m only here because you agreed to pay for all the food.” She nudges you playfully.
As you wait for your order, the crowd grows larger. Most of the tables are now taken. The other booth across from you is still unoccupied. You and Sara chat while bopping along to the music, thankful you found an open spot when you did. A couple of minutes pass when Sara elbows you, pointing your attention to the entrance. “Look who’s here. It’s Todo and Yuji.”
Of all the cafés hosting Takada-Chan birthday celebrations, why did they have to pick this one? Are the pop idol gods punishing you for lying to Takada-Chan about your fake relationship? That’s definitely it. This is karma.
You groan into your hands as Sara laughs giddily. “We should invite them to our table! We have room.”
“Don’t you fucking dare, Sara. Can’t I have one moment of peace at one of these things?!”
“But he’s your boyfriend!”
“Shut up!” you hiss at your best friend, who continues to giggle, amused at your distress. “We’re all the way in the back, so they probably won’t see us.” You slouch into the seat, attempting to hide.
“But what if they can’t find a table?” she whines, shaking your arm.
“Good, then they’ll leave.”
“Oh, c’mon! I thought you and Todo played nice at the last event.”
“Yeah. I played nice. Then he told me we could never be friends.” The memory of that still stings as you recall it.
“He doesn’t know you yet, maybe he’s shy.”
You let out a loud “Ha!” and add, “I don’t think shy is in his vocabulary. Unless he’s around Takada-Chan. Then he becomes speechless, which is hilarious.” You cross your arms and slide further down the booth.
“They just ordered. Now they’re looking for a table.”
You grab hold of Sara’s sleeve and pull her towards you. “Sara, I swear to god, if you invite them to our table – “
“Yuji! Hey, Yuji!”
She did it. She really fucking did it.
~~~
Todo searches his surroundings to identify the source of the woman’s voice calling out for his brother. Yuji, who is next to him, turns and waves. “Hey! Sara!” He follows him towards the back of the café., approaching a table with two women already sitting on one side. He notices Sara immediately; it’s that girl’s friend that always breaks up whatever argument they’re having at Takada-Chan events. The other is slouched so much, her head is level to the table. She holds both hands up to cover her face.
“Hey ladies! You’re lucky you found a table. Can’t find a spot anywhere,” Yuji says.
Sara, with a grin, offers, “We have space at our table. Join us. It’ll be fun. Right? Won’t it be fun?” She directs her last statement to the girl next to her, trying to get her to come out of hiding.
When she finally reveals herself, Todo recognizes her immediately: his rival. “Ha, I should have known you’d be here. And here I thought today was going to be a good day.”
She sits up, arms crossed with an annoyed expression on her face. “Oh please, we were here first. You’re the one ruining my day.”
Sara shoves her friend lightly. “She’s just joking. Seriously, you two can sit with us. We’re still waiting for our food too.”
Yuji beams. “Thank you, Sara! Glad we ran into you.” He slides into the booth across from them. Todo grunts with disapproval but follows anyways. I guess this isn’t so bad, he thinks.
Sara and Yuji instantly start chatting to each other, like old friends catching up after a long time. Since when are these two so close? They’ve only met each other once. Todo glances at his rival across from him, who is now scrolling through her phone, making it a point to ignore him.
He clears his throat, attempting small talk. “So, what did you order?”
She looks up and gives a curt response. “Food.”
Todo rolls his eyes. “Yeah, obviously. I mean which special item did you order?”
“Why do you want to know?” she throws back at him.
“I’m just trying to make conversation.” His patience wears thin and he almost regrets even trying. She’s extra venomous today. His last words to her from the meet and greet must have struck a chord. I don’t think we’ll ever be friends. He didn’t mean for it to sound so unkind. Todo doesn’t have very many friends, let alone female friends. All the girls at his high school despised him. And since he’s loyal to Takada-Chan, he has no interest in having any type of relations with other women. But this girl did him a huge solid, especially at the last event. He can’t forget that. This might be a good time to right his wrongs. “Listen, I’m sorry for being such an asshole to you. I get very defensive about Takada-Chan. Still, that’s no excuse.” Her expression relaxes as she sets her phone aside, listening in silence.
He continues. “Let’s call it a truce. Maybe we can both be Takada-Chan’s #1 fan,” he holds his hand out to shake on it, knowing deep down he’s the biggest fan. But for the sake of peace, he’ll keep that to himself.
She eyes him carefully, contemplating. Finally, she reaches over and grips his hand firmly. “Okay, truce.” She flashes him a genuine smile.
There’s a strange tightness in his chest upon seeing this. Weird. He clears his throat again and asks once more, “So, which special dish did you choose?”
They chat about the food and drinks they ordered. They both got the Matcha Takada Latte. Apparently, she loves matcha while Todo admits to ordering it only because it has Takada-Chan’s face on it. She asks him if he really knew Takada in middle school, to which Yuji interrupts to debunk this very true theory. Sara joins in their conversation, mentioning how the “brothers” look nothing alike, with Yuji again exposing the fact that they are not blood related. The girls laugh as he recounts the story of how him and Todo first met, skillfully leaving out the details about Jujutsu sorcery and the Goodwill event. Yuji mentions Todo’s infamous catchphrase: What kind of girls do you like?
He cuts off Yuji’s story to ask, “Wait, since we’re all here, what kind of girls do you like?”
Sara snorts. “I’m not answering that question.”
“C’mon! It’s just for fun. Todo asks this to everyone.”
Sara elbows her friend. “We all know what kind of girl she likes. She adores Takada-Chan.”
His rival (maybe he should start acknowledging her as an acquaintance now) giggles, explaining, “She’s just so talented and confident! How can you not admire that?” Yawn. Boring. Todo should have expected this.
“Also, she has a nice butt,” she adds, smirking shyly. Now this gets his attention.
Yuji whoops. “Ha! You’re just like us! High five!”
They slap hands, then she clarifies, “It’s just nice to see an idol with a more voluptuous body type. Something I can relate to. Makes me more confident, I guess. It’s dumb.”
Sara wraps her arm around her friend. “It’s not dumb. Takada-Chan has a nice badonkadonk and so do you. All asses come in different shapes and sizes and they’re all great!”
Todo watches her curiously. To say he is surprised would be an understatement. He’s already admitted to himself that she has a nice butt. To hear her talk about it out loud is fascinating. And anyone who appreciates Takada-Chan’s butt has his respect.
Suddenly, one of the buzzers vibrates. “Oh! Our food is finally ready.” When she shimmies out of the booth to stand up, Todo’s mouth parts open, fixated on her mini skirt. His gaze follows her as she walks away towards the front counter, the hem grazing against the back of her plush thighs. She looks good. Like, really good. Why is this the first time he’s noticing this about her?
“Hey!” There’s a hard slap on his shoulder. He turns to find Yuji and Sara staring at him, her arm stretched across the table, the source of the smack. “What do you think you’re doing?” Sara demands, glaring.
Todo smirks. “I’m just enjoying the view.”
Her eyes widen, nostrils flare. Yuji puts his head in his hands, shaking it in disapproval. “Dude…”
“You fucking pervert!” Sara yells, both hands reaching towards him as Yuji holds her back.
“Sara! He didn’t mean it! Right, Todo?! You were just joking!” He’s desperately trying to contain her.
Todo waves it all off, unfazed. “Yeah, I’m just joking around, no need to get all protective of your friend.” He focuses his attention back to her making her back to their table, a tray of food in hands, that skirt swaying dangerously on her hips. Damn, she’s really wearing the hell outta that thing, Todo muses. It’s a similar outfit to what Takada-Chan wore at the Meet and Greet, except it’s different. She’s made it her own.
Damn, he thinks again, watching her slide into the booth, more alluring than ever. He notices how her tantalizing shoulders are exposed in the skimpy blouse she wears, the way it hugs the curves of her breasts. How soft her lips are as she smiles at the food in front of her, excited to stuff it all in her pretty little mouth. He lingers on the tight red choker around her neck, teasing him, making him imagine all kinds of interesting and naughty thoughts…
Shit. Maybe he really is a fucking pervert.
~~~
When you pick up your order from the counter, you are amazed at the “Matcha Takada Latte” art. You rave to the barista at what an amazing job she did. In the background, even amongst the music blasting, you hear Sara’s voice yelling, but you can’t make out exactly what she’s saying. Back at the table, you slide the tray of food towards Sara, who is scowling at Todo with her arms crossed. You ask nervously, “Is everything okay?”
Everyone is silent for a moment, then Yuji speaks. “Todo passed gas, that’s why Sara is pissed.”
Todo’s head whips towards Yuji. “What?! Brother, why would you say that?!”
Sara’s expression softens, glancing at you with a small smile. “Thanks for getting the food. Let’s eat.” As the two brothers argue, you and Sara split the Caprese sandwich, chowing down. Sara remains unusually quiet until the other buzzer rings, both Todo and Yuji leaving to retrieve their order.
Sara stops eating, her voice hushed as she leans into your ear. “Hey, just so you know, Todo is totally checking you out.”
You almost choke on the last bite of your sandwich, sputtering a confused, “What?!”
“He was staring at your ass while you were at the front counter. Fucking creep.”
“You’re the one that is encouraging this! You invited them to our table! You said I should have hot angry hate sex with him!”
“I know, but that was before I knew he was a fucking pervert!”
You panic. How do you even respond to this news? Should you be creeped out? In a normal situation, this would be incredibly inappropriate, right? But why is a small part of you flattered? This big hunk is checking you out. It makes you feel good. It makes you confident.
But you can’t forget what he told you after the meet and greet: I don’t think we’ll ever be friends.
You tried to be nice. You were nice. If it weren’t for you, he would have never gotten that close to his beloved Takada-Chan. Even after all you did, he still said what he said. You both agreed to make peace today, but that doesn’t mean you are friends. It doesn’t erase the stress he’s caused you ever since you first ran into him at that mall concert. Maybe this is time for a little bit of payback. And with this recent revelation from Sara, you have new ammo to fire at him.
“Hey, what are you thinking right now?” Sara asks, worry in her tone.
You give her a mischievous smile. “I think I’m going to have some fun with this.”
Is it petty? Yes. Do you care? Absolutely not.
This is going to be fun.
~~~
When Todo and Yuji return with their food, the two women are now sitting across from each other, one in each booth.
“Come sit next to me, Todo.” She pats the seat next to her.
Todo’s brows are knit in confusion, sliding next to his rival. Their knees touch as they sit side by side. Did the booth get smaller? Why does it seem like there is way less room?
Sara and Yuji talk among themselves. Todo stares down at his food, oddly nervous being so close to her. What is she up to? He uses all his willpower to not ogle at her skirt, which is now riding up her thighs.
“Sorry for switching seats. I just wanted to sit next to you so we can talk.” She studies him with her elbow propped on the table, head tilted, resting on her palm. Todo quickly glances at her. God, she’s cute like this. “What do you want to talk about?” he asks, taking a bite out of this steak sandwich.
From his peripheral, he sees a playful smile spread across her face. “What do you think of my outfit?”
It takes all his strength not to spit out the food in his mouth. He did not expect her to ask him that. “It’s…fine,” he mutters.
“Just ‘fine’?”
He growls, “Yeah, what else do you want me to say?”
She leans in closer, breath on his ear. It sends shivers down his spine. “I heard you were checking me out.” He has to maintain his composure. He can’t let this chick make him lose his cool. There’s no other woman out there that can do that expect Takada-Chan.
Very calmy, he replies, “Yeah, and so what if I was?” She seems taken aback by his bluntness. He continues. “I know what you’re doing. You’re wearing the same thing Takada-Chan was wearing at the meet and greet. Sorry, but you’ll never be her. Quit trying so hard.” Harsh. So much for a truce. Turns out it’s not so easy for him to turn off the assholery. No wonder all the girls at Kyoto High hated him.
“Aren’t you just a little bit embarrassed that you got caught being a pervert?”
He faces her fully now, challenging her. “I’m an ass man, what do you expect? You strut around with a mini skirt like that, of course I’m going to check you out.”
She doesn’t back down. “Have you no shame, Todo? Fucking hell, she’s really trying to push his buttons today.
“Shame? You wanna talk about having no shame, you wannabe?” Without thinking, he reaches out, tugging gently on one of her braided pigtails. “What are these supposed to be, her pigtails? Try again.”
Her hand is suddenly on his thigh. “You can pull on my hair a little harder if you like. I bet you’re into that.”
Fuck. What is she trying to do to him? Whatever it is, two can play at that game. He says in a low voice, “Yeah, maybe I do like it a little rough. I can show you sometime.”
Her eyes widen and she clenches against the fabric of his pants a little tighter, gulping loudly.
Ha. Got her.
~~~
Too far. This has gotten too far.
You only wanted to embarrass him, make him blush a bit, make him admit he’s a creep. You were just trying to get a rise out of him, but you didn’t think he would respond like that.
How can you let this neanderthal get you all hot and bothered? You can’t shake the thought of Todo manhandling you. Your mind conjures all sorts of scenarios, and your body can’t help but react. At the same time, the logical side of your mind, which apparently has shrunken ever since meeting this man, is screaming at you. Where is your self-control, woman?! He has no intention of being anything more than a nuisance to you. He’s only saying these things because you started it! He’s not backing down. He’s trying to outlast you. He’s trying to win. You must fight fire with fire. There’s no backing down. You started this mess; you have to finish it. Whatever fucked up game you two are playing with each other, you must come out on top. “How about today? I’ll keep the skirt on while you show me how rough you like it.”
Checkmate.
He looks at you, his expression not faltering, anticipating what he’ll say next. Finally, he chuckles and goes back to his sandwich. After a bite, he relents. “Fine, you win. I surrender.”
You’re not proud of it. Who would be? You’ve thrown all your dignity out the window. But who needs pride and dignity when you have victory?!
At last, you relax against the booth, satisfied. Thankfully, Sara and Yuji are too engulfed in their own conversation to have noticed what just occurred in front of them. For the rest of the meal, you and Todo don’t exchange another word with each other.
Everyone finishes and agrees to leave the table for others to take. You walk around the café, taking pictures with the Takada-Chan cardboard cutouts. Todo’s gaze on you as you pose for pictures, expression unreadable. It makes you flustered, for some reason.
When it’s time to go, you head outside. Sara and Yuji hug goodbye, while you stand awkwardly next to Todo, unsure how you should part ways with him. You made peace, then exchanged highly suggestive comments to each other in a strange battle for dominance. Where does this leave you two? There’s this weird tension between you, different than before. It’s not necessarily hostile, but it’s heavy.
“Ready to go?” Yuji asks, motioning to his muscular friend.
“Yeah. Bye Sara, thanks for letting us sit at your table.”
Sara smiles. “Yeah, thanks for hanging out. It was fun.”
He faces you, sticking his hand out. “I guess I’ll see you around.” A handshake? That’s odd.
“Sure. Bye.” Not wanting to leave him hanging, you take it.
Suddenly, he pulls you forward and leans down close enough that his mouth is to your ear, his warm breath tickling your skin as he whispers softly. “I guess we’ll have to reschedule.”
He lets go, stepping alongside his brother towards the station, leaving you speechless.
Fuck.
Romani character portrayals in fanfiction
Rroma Dick Grayson, batman fanfiction
endoftheworldhere asked:
I wanted to write a fanfiction about what Dick Grayson’s life would have been like if he wasn’t adopted by Batman. It was going to have him dealing with the bad parts of Gotham City and interacting with various criminals and rouges, But I was worried that could come off as stereotypical or racist since he’s been portrayed as at least part Romani and I wanted to include some connections to his heritage as a way he clings his parents after they died so traumatically. Any advice?
The thing about Dick Greyson is that he was retconned into being part Romani, and the writers did so in a very stereotypical way. A lot of Romani people have talked about this, especially on Tumblr, and opinions do vary about how he should be written. Many think it’s best to ignore his “heritage” and just write him as white, while others disagree and think that his heritage is important representation and should be written, but more respectfully.
I honestly don’t know my personal opinion on this, but I will say that there is a huge stereotype about Romani people being criminals. If you do plan to write him as part Romani, make sure to avoid these tropes. Otherwise, I would just nix his Romani heritage.
Romani woman, curses and Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Anonymous asked:
I'm struggling a bit with a piece of fan work right now, and I was hoping you could weigh in. In Buffy season two, there's a character named Jenny, who we first meet as a techno-pagan computer science teacher, who helps Buffy and co deal with fighting demons and stuff. Only the thing is, she's Rromani. She's there to make sure a family curse stays on a vampire who killed someone beloved to them a century ago (mostly to protect people from him if Angel/Angelus gets uncursed), which everyone gets mad at her for not telling them when he loses his soul and goes on rampage.  Ordinarily, it's not hard to write her, because until that arc, she's a fun character who happens to be a Rroma woman, and as other characters use magic, that doesn't stand out. But the whole curse thing, and the depiction of her family we're given, (and the way a canon redemption arc for Angelus I can't stand starts with him getting a soul as a punishment for killing a Rroma woman in 1898), and the everyone being mad about deception all just feels like many negative stereotypes.  What would be your thoughts on depicting Jenny, and on what to keep in mind trying to rewrite how she was shown in the show. [Ask redacted for length]
Let me just start out by saying that I am not very familiar with Buffy, so thank you for the context. I think your best bet here would be to drop the curse plot line altogether, as that’s a huge stereotype about Romani people. I think it’s ok to have her do magic, as long as other characters also do, and although I do think the vampire stuff is also a stereotype (a lot of vampire lore is supposedly taken from some Romani folklore, and Romani people are often associated with vampires in pop culture), I think it’s fine given the context of the show.
thankyou!! and have a great day!!
hi again!! yes i can do that :) i can definitely see chigiri doing some crochet idk about kunigami though,, he would def learn though!! anyways i hope you enjoy and have a good day!!
also on my blog scenarios and drabbles are two different things so i’m gonna assume you mean writing with no headcanons;;
characters: nagi, barou, isagi, rin, sae
Tumblr media
nagi
honestly, nagi was not one to do crafts. he wasn’t one to do anything at all, really. the only reason he decided to do something is because he saw someone doing origami and the teacher wouldn’t let him sleep. besides, he’s heard you talk about how cute handmade gifts are, so, why not?
he ended up making a cat. a really bad cat. none of it was symmetrical and the face he drew on could give you nightmares. you were careful not to say anything about it when he handed it to you when walking home, knowing this is a once-in-lifetime opportunity.
“you made this for me?” you asked, examining the poorly folded cat. nagi hummed in agreement, hand sliding down to take yours. you made sure to give him a kiss on the cheek as a thanks.
“don’t expect another one,” he mumbled, eyes struggling to stay opened in the bright sunlight.
“i wasn’t expecting another,” you replied, giving him a small squeeze on the hand. he actually might make another one just to get another kiss on the cheek.
barou
the best you’ll get out of barou is him fixing your clothes. he’s never been one for giving gifts, especially one’s that he hand makes. he feels too stupid doing it. he’s always one to give you flowers, just never anything made from him.
however, he will absolutely fix your clothes to how you desire. lost a button? immediately sews it back on. got a rip in your shirt? fixes it like a pro.
he can also make you a piece of clothing if you beg. he would rather not, though. and don’t even think about teasing him for any of this.
you had just gotten out of the shower to retreat back to your room and you were met with the pants you had given up on sitting on your bed. you had been complaining about the button popping off, upset due to losing your favorite pair of jeans. now, suddenly, they were sitting nicely in front of you with a button. you certainly didn’t do that. you know exactly who did though.
“barou? did you fix my pants?” you ask, trudging into the living room to see him wiping down the coffee table. he barely looked up, too focused on the task at hand.
“yeah,” his gruff made you smile, skipping over to sit down next to him. you gave a sweet kiss on his cheek, hugging him afterwards as well.
“thank you.”
isagi
he saw you fanning over people making flowers out of pipe cleaners and decided to give it a go. actually enjoyed it so much that he started making more than he needed. gave you a full size bouquet at the end of the day.
your jaw dropped at the colorful pipe cleaners all bundled together to make a bouquet. you excitedly took the bouquet, flashing your boyfriend a huge smile. “isagi, i love these! did you make them all?”
he sheepishly nodded, scratching the back of his head, “yeah, i didn’t realize i made a lot until all the green pipe cleaners were gone.” his confession drew a soft laugh out of you, his cheeks tinting at the sound.
“it’s a perfect amount, thank you,” you drew him in for a kiss, him loving to feeling of your upturned lips against his.
rin
he had to hear nights worth of your gushing over small crochet plushies until he finally decided to try it out. little did he know, he was getting into a lot. absolutely struggled with the hook, muttering cusses every time something didn’t go his way.
rin, however, was not a quitter. he finally finished one, though severely disappointed with how bad it had looked. rin was also a perfectionist to heart. so, he gave it another go, this time paying attention to every small detail. finally, weeks later of hiding his project in drawers you never check, he presented you a small hello kitty plushie.
“oh my god! rin this is adorable! you seriously made this?” you squealed, immediately taking the small plush in both of your hands to examine it.
“yeah,” he spoke nonchalantly, heart secretly jumping in joy seeing you so excited for something he did. you jumped up to give him a big hug, giggling all the while.
“thank you, my sweet boyfriend,” give him an exaggerated kiss on the cheek. he loves it when you do it. don’t mind his sigh.
sae
you knew better than to expect a decent gift from the heart from sae. that didn’t stop the leap your heart did once he handed you a piece of paper saying that he drew you. your poor, poor heart.
he drew you alright. just in the worst way possible. at first you wanted to believe he actually tried but was just horrible at drawing, but the more you looked at it the more you could tell he couldn’t have given less of a shit what he drew. he watched your face changes in joy too, seeing how your excited smile turned into a weird squiggle and then to a plain frown.
“sae, you did this on purpose,” you looked up to see his smirk, your heart officially dropping.
“i think i drew you perfectly,” your whine only made him feel better. give him the cold shoulder later and he might just think about apologizing while holding you close.
words: 4.2K
———
She missed him, every day and every night, she missed him when she was about to go to sleep, remembering all those times they would FaceTime right before bed, even when he was at the other side of the globe and it was 9am where he was, he would always be sure to call her before bed, she missed those times when he wasn’t traveling, those few days between races where he would stay in their apartment and wake her up with breakfast in bed, or take her to the beach or just driving around in the city of Monaco, right now she was in Atlanta shooting for her new film, but she couldn’t really get her boyfriend out of her mind, needing to see him, hug him, kiss him, feel him and just be with him in general.
It wasn’t more than a week since the last time she saw him, they reunited in Monaco right after Silverstone’s huge disaster in which he did a wonderful job keeping good positions most of the race but getting Ferrari to fuck him over once again getting a disappoint p4 and a really angry Charles at his own team, but at least Carlos had won and she was truly happy for the Spanish’s first win.
Then they both traveled back to Charles hometown, Montecarlo. Her first on Sunday afternoon and Charles joining her later on Monday morning, they stayed there for a good two day, or so, she was supposed to join him at the race but sadly she had to comeback to Atlanta earlier than anticipated, her boyfriend driving her to the airport at two in the morning on Wednesday, leaving her sobbing on his shoulder before catching the plane.
He wanted to come with her, to see her in action like he said, but his schedule didn’t really allowed it, having press conferences and practice a day earlier because of the sprint race.
"And cut!” The director yelled at her direction, getting her out of the small trance she had entered thinking about her boyfriend. “We are done for the day ladies and gentlemen”
“That’s it?” She asked, at little bit confused thinking she had to film some other things before the end of the day.
"Yup, i have a meeting with some of the producers and stuff so I’ll let you when the filming will start tomorrow morning”
She nodded standing up from the floor she was previously laying, walking to her trailer, her assistant running toward her at a full speed.
“He got p2!” She exclaimed excitingly, and probably the whole of the set heard the small scream that left her mouth, whilst a brilliant smile lit of her face.
“Really? Oh my god i knew it, I’m so proud of him” She said hugging her assistant, and taking the towel out of her hand to dry her wet hair and body that came out of the previous scene she was just shooting.
“Did he call?”
“No, not yet they just finished i was watching it live from the app like you asked me to”
“Thank you so much, Ana” she genuinely thanked her assistant, she was really nervous for Charles and a little bit upset that she was going to filming be in between scenes during the sprint race and even though Charles insisted that it wasn’t that big of a deal and that she should be focused on her filming and that he would call her as soon as he could to tell her everything from his mouth, she still asked her assistant if she could watch the race for her so she could be updating her in between shoots and the young girl didn’t denied.
“Yeah no problem, it was actually kinda fun”
“I’m glad you enjoyed it, Ana”
The blonde started telling her a little bit about how the race went as they both made their way to her trailer, the girl telling her that Verstappen had gotten p1 but her boyfriend still scoring some great 7 points and Carlos some other 6 from the sprint, something the team need for the constructors championship if they still wanted to be competitive, when all of the sudden her phone started ringing as they arrive the door of the trailer, the name of her boyfriend adorned with heart emojis lighting up her screen.
“I’ll leave you two to it, bet he’ll tell you the story better than me”
“Thanks Ana, see you tomorrow, love you”
“Love you too, bye”
“Bye!” Was the last thing shouted back to her assistant as she entered the trailer, answering her boyfriend with a big proud smile on her face as she throw herself on the bed of the big car.
“Baby guess wh-“
“My favorite 7 point winner!” She celebrated smiling through the screen, Charles face all light up because of the happiness he was feeling after scoring some good points that he truly needed, her heart flustered at the sight of his bright smile and redden cheeks.
“You got to watch it?”
“Something like that”
“What do you mean something like that?” He ask as he accommodated himself in his drivers room.
“I made Ana watched and update me while filming” she admitted embarrassed, cheeks tinting with specs of red.
“Don’t me embarrassed ma chérie, I love it when you do small things like that for me, it’s cute”
Her cheeks turned more red with every word that came out of the monegasque’s mouth, a small laugh coming out of his lips when he noticed how nervous he was making his girlfriend.
“Stop Charles, or I’ll punch you when I see you”
“I’ll rather have a kiss if it’s up for discussion mon amour” she smiled, admiring proudly the boy on the other side of the screen, it has been a while since he has been this happy with anything race related, he truly loved the sport but the awful strategic choices that he’s team constantly made, we’re making him frustrated and sad, so it breath of fresh air seeing him that happy, even with a p2.
“I hate you, Charles”
“No you don’t” he gives her smirk on his side of the screen making her roll her eyes and give him the finger.
“No, I don’t” she gives in a small grin flashing her face. “But I do miss you, so much baby” she finally admitted to him, she never liked to tell Charles that she missed him because she didn’t want him to feel guilty like he usually does about everything that surrounded him, even things that didn’t have anything to do with him, like Silverstone and Azerbaijan.
“I know baby, I miss you too, all the frinking time, but summer break it’s right around the corner and then I can join you in Atlanta to see you film like I’ve always wanted and then take you to Monaco beaches and we can go traveling the Italian coast like I promised you, it’ll be just the two of us, and believe me when I tell you that the only time I’ll leave your side it’s when I’ll be on top of you”
“Charles!” The girl chuckled, redden cheeks once again.
“Making you scream just like that”
“Charles, I swear to god” she started laughing as she scolded him through the phone, as a goofy smile adorned her boyfriends face.
“It’s okay, you can also be on top of you want baby, I’m always here to please your needs” he gives her a small grin as she tries to keep her laughter from coming out with a serious expression.
“I’ll hang up now Leclerc”
“No wait, I want to tell you about the race”
He pouted and she gave in with a small sigh never been able to be mad or
to say to him, accommodating herself on the trailers bed ready to her all of what her beautiful boy had to say.
So he excitingly began “it started When Verst…”
(….)
“Baby I have to leave you, Binotto is annoying me about press”
“M’kay baby, I love you” she mumbled as she was falling asleep, not because he was boring her or anything but because Charles voice always had a way to soothe her, and relaxing her, she has always had sleeping and anxiety problems, but since their calls before bed she has slept like a baby, not to mention that when they sleep in the same bed she can pass out for 10 hours straight with her head on her chest or with him spooning her both like he loved to.
“Love you too, sleep well” he hangs up smilie face and everything but not before throwing some kisses at the camera just for her.
She smirk like a stupid person at the phone, as she throw it in the bed to plug in the charger, the time was 10 pm o’clock and she realized she had just spent almost 3 hours on the phone with her boyfriend and that the girl that handles the schedules for the next day at 8 pm sharp never showed up.
She shrugged her shoulders, as she prepares for bed walking towards the bathroom to begin with her respective skincare routine, but several loud bangs on her door interrupted her halfway.
“Oh my god! You won’t believe it!” The voice that clearly was her assistant’s echoed throughout the whole trailer, excitement clearly noticeable in her tone.
“What happened Ana?” She mumbled why grumpiness opening the door.
“You now have free week and a half”
“Yeah and- Wait, what?!” She exclaimed still half sleep not sure that she had heard correctly.
“Yeah! You have more scenes done that anyone here so meanwhile the others catch-up with you the producers and directors took the choice of giving you a week and a half break so they don’t have you here doing nothing”
“Oh my god!” She squealed loudly, jumping up and that, that meant that she could go see Charles and spent time with him.
she could even see him race tomorrow!
“That means that i can go-“
“See Charles, yeah i’m way ahead of you, I already book you a ticket for Austria, your flight leaves in two hours and a half” her assistant interrupts her as she hands her the flight information and the tickets. “You’ll get to Austria two hours before the race, and you’ll get to the circuit about half an hours before the star of the race”
“Did I tell you that I love you?” She said admiringly, almost swearing that Ana was basically glowing like a divine intervention right now.
“Yeah, yeah I’m amazing now go to your place, and pack a bag because I don’t want you to make me watch the race tomorrow while I listen to you for two more hours about how you miss Charles”
“Ok” she said softly before wrapping the small girl in a tight hug full of gratefulness.
“Thank you”
“Sweetie my job is to make you happy, and you’ve miss that boy with every cell in your body since you got here on Wednesday, so go now and have fun before producers regret and call you back to have you here to do nothing”
The girl pulled her outside of the vehicle as she handle her the keys to her car and pushed her to hurry, she thanked her again as she basically ran to the vehicle needing to see Charles more that anything in the entire world.
(…)
She landed at about 11 am, and the drive from the airport to the hotel where Charles was staying took about an hour and a half.
who would know that Austrian traffic is a real bitch?
When she got to the hotel, Charles’ manager had someone meet here there with the drivers room key and a car to take her to the race.
She went to the room, a big ass smile plastered on her face from the moment she opened the door and the smell of her boyfriend invaded her nostrils.
She basically run at the speed of light into the bathroom from how fast she got in there to take a shower and change herself into a more adequate closes for the race, so she put herself into some cute black pants, a white top and a Ferrari jersey she got from Etsy with Charles’ number embroidered into it, she had been dying to show it to the driver, excited for when the next race was going to be and now she could finally show it to him.
When she got to the circuit, all she could see was a freaking horde of orange and Red Bull caps, and obviously the typical Red Sea of the Ferrari Fans or tifosi how they are usually called.
She got out of the fancy black Ferrari car that had picked her in the hotel, with the paddock pass hanging from her neck, black dark glasses covering her eyes, when all of the fans got the sight of her the screams became significantly louder.
A small laugh got out of her, as she approached some teenagers that were begging for pictures with her, one of the girls throwing a cap with her boyfriends number on it.
“You sure you wanna lose that?” She ask a playful smirk adorning her face before put it on for a picture with them.
“Keep it! I have a few others at home bu I’ll never get the chance again to say that Charles’ Leclerc girlfriend wore my cap to the Austrian Grand Prix”
She burst out in laughter whilst signing her phone case. “Thanks cutie” she said winking her eye action that she had adopted from her boyfriend before walking away.
She got in smoothly with the paddock pass, it was impressive those little plastics work, she walk nervously towards the Ferrari garage, anxious to see Charles’ face.
All the engineers and crew from the team saying hello to her since she was there for most of the start of the season when she was taking a little break from acting.
The first Ferrari drivers that showed up on her sight was no more or less than Carlos Sainz who’s face turn up a big smile when he saw her.
“What are you doing here?!” He wrapped her in a tight hug lifting her a little making her shriek excitingly, when he put her safely back on the ground she explained to the Spanish driver that she was there to surprise Charles. “You’re boyfriends over there on his typical pre-race ritual, very stressed, Binnotos’ there with him trying to calm him down, seeing you will do him really good”
“Yeah I missed him like crazy, see you Carlos, good luck”
The driver left with a friendly kiss on her cheek sprinting to his car, she smiled to him one last time before walking away, every step that got her closer to where her boyfriend her heart pounded faster, hands shaking uncontrollably, she was excited but also a bit nervous because when racing, Charles would get on this different mindset and it kinda worried her that he wouldn’t like that she was there, it was very unlikely but this was the first time she surprised him showing up to a race unannounced.
But when she saw him, his back facing her, headphones on his ears as his elbows were on his knees while staring on his phone, she could swear that the smile on her face made her look like a crazy person, her heart beating so fast she could feel it on her throat so with shaking hands she started walking towards him.
(…)
Charles was stressed, a pit in the bottom of his stomach worried about what would the result of this race might be, he was tired and worried, he would oftenly text or call his girlfriend when feeling like this, cause she would always knew how to calm him down and exactly what to say to make him feelbetter, but he knew that she was working and didn’t really wanted to bother her, he knew she wouldn’t mind but he didn’t want to get her worried.
Charles adored his girlfriend, he would take a bullet for her on the spot without a hint of hesitation, sometimes he wonders to himself how he got to be with such an awesome girl like her, he loves everything about her, every time a race ends the very first thing he thinks about it’s her, about how he wants to celebrate his wins with her in every way possible, and to be in her arms everything time that something goes wrong, which have been the case lately.
He got up, taking off his headphones and passing her hand trough his hair, he check his phone once again to see if his girlfriend had answered his texts, seeing that there wasn’t any response he turn it off again a little worried with the fact that she hasn’t even read the text he had send it the night before after they had FaceTimed but he shrugged it off knowing that he had to focused on the race and knowing that probably the reason of his girls disappearance was because she was filling or learning lines.
He put his phone on one of the tables in his garage when suddenly he felt some thin arms that he could recognize even in his sleep wrapping around his waist, and the characteristic coconut smell hitting him all at once as the girls head curled against his neck as she purred “Hi baby”
“Mon ange” he whispered in disbelief that this was her, right there with her arms wrapped around him, face on his neck, he wasn’t dreaming and she wasn’t thousands of miles away from him, he could swear that the smile that formed on his face could be seen from outer space.
He took a deep breath trying to take it all in, as she rested his face on his neck whispering “how much she had missed him” He was still a bit shocked that this was happening, as he took her arms on his hands to free himself from her grasp to turn around, cupping her face with one one his hand as the other snaked it’s way to her waist.
“I can’t believe you’re here”
He said softly rubbing circles on her waist while she had one of the most biggest beautiful smiles that he has ever seen looking almost proud that she could pull this off and that he was so happy to see her.
but how couldn’t he be? When every time he was around her he felt the world was lifted off his shoulders, that there were no longer expectations and disappointments and it was just him and her pretty ass smile, it made his heart fluster that it was all because of finally seen him, that she was just as happy to see him so he knew he couldn’t restrain himself any longer when he crash his lips against hers.
When they finally kissed after all those days that felt like an eternity, they both felt like nothing had ever felt so right as they basically melted against one another, her arms curling through his neck, both hands petting his hair, and right there she felt like crying from how much she had missed him and how much she loved him, Charles right behind as he finally relaxed after all those stressed days where he wished she had been there with him, the kissed was one feel with sentiment love irradiating from the couple as his tongue pressed her upper lip asking for permission, the girl smiling mid kiss just to kiss the driver once again.
“ I missed you so fucking much “ Charles murmured again her lips, giving her small pecks through her face making her giggle.
“I was so nervous” she admitted, both her hands resting on his face, as his arms kept still around her waist.
“Why?” He asked genuinely confused, she then proceeded to shrugged it off saying that it was just her being dumb, Charles denying with his head as her cheeks turn red.
“Mon ange, I don’t ever want you to think that I don’t want you here with me, because I mean, if it was for me I would have you tied up to my side day and night, okay?” She nodded as he gave her a small kiss and hugged her again, this time his face on the crook of her neck.
“My pretty girl” he whispered as he went leaving kissed on her jaw and neck, her giggling once again. “Came all the way from Atlanta, with a jacket with my number on it”
“You liked it?” She asked excitingly as Charles laughed against her neck, separating from her.
“Are you kidding me? I love it” he smiled against her, as their foreheads touched, her baseball cap falling to the ground, he separated from her as he knew that the would calling him for the formation lap any minute now, the engineers all in their world as they wanted to give them their privacy, he grabbed his girls hand as he dragged her trough the garage while asking her about her trip, she excitingly telling him every single thing about it as he now rested against the outside wall of the garage, putting on his suit and drinking some water, while looking at her like she was the only thing in the entire world, just for him, with a jacket and a cap to prove it.
“What? Am I talking too much?” She asked while playing with her hands getting a bit embarrassed that he was boring him”
“Oh non chérie, you just look really pretty with my number on you” he smiles to her as she chuckled, rolling her eyes.
“Charles I know your happy that your girlfriend is here but Mattia will have a stroke if you don’t get in the car right about now” one of the engineers informed them, making them both giggle as Charles lean towards her for a last kiss before put in his helmet on and get in the car.
“I love you” he said as their lips touched once again, her smiling against him.
“Good luck baby, go kick their asses like you know how to” she encourage as she peck his lips one more time, leaving him with a small smile as he put his helmet on.
“Yes ma’am” he said as he finally separated from her and got on his racing car.
“Love you, be safe” was the last she shouted to him as the car started and she walked towards the paddock and he gave her a small thumbs up.
(….)
She felt like she was about to throw up right there and then.
Carlos sitting beside her, still very angry about his DNF and his engine problems but borrowing his arm for her to squeeze as his boyfriend was suffering in the track, his throttle giving him problems with only three laps left and Verstappen on top of him.
“Turn three it’s really difficult” he said through his radio as she felt like she could pass out from her nerves for her boyfriend, the win almost his for the taking.
So when he finally passed the checkered flag, a couple of laps later she felt like she could finally breath again as everyone around her celebrated and even Carlos who was still down from his engine problem clapped and celebrated for her boyfriend.
“Go celebrate with him, he’ll want you there when he gets here”
She got up from her sit as Carlos encourage her moving his hand from front to backwards as she rolled her eyes smiling starting to run to the garage to receive her boyfriend from his winning race.
So she stand there as he park the car as he celebrated and hugged his engineers, but when he finally saw her she smiled to him with everything that she had as he launched himself to her to wrap her in a tight hug.
“I love you, I’m so proud of you” she scream throughout the noise as Charles took of his helmet, to gave her a winning smiling as she felt herself so full of excitement for him, being able to see him happy and excited again, his eye’s lighting up as his face was basically glowing from how happy she was and she was so thankful that she was there with him, and so incredibly proud of what he had just accomplished too.
So when he took of his helmet he crashed their lips together once again, catching her of guard as she returned the kiss placing her hands on his cheeks.
“Won that race just for you chérie, I love you so much”
And with that she kissed him again, both their hearts beating at what it felt like a thousand miles per hour, as they both thanked everything around them and that they were together to celebrate Charles’ win.
So she screamed like a crazy fan when he was in podium and got redden cheeks when he wink to her as he lifted the trophy to then bathe her with champagne and laughed and kissed as they enjoyed that well deserved rave that the driver most definitely needed.
Her wishing for a celebration of the both of them just later.
Her unexpected visit wasn’t so bad after all.
I won't be offended if you prefer to delete this but your post about Tyler had me thinking...
Caroline really made his grief over his mother dying about her so much so that she issued the worst ultimatum and left herself with...
A drunk old man that used to be her teacher.
A long time friend that never seemed like he got over Elena and definitely has codependent issues with his brother so much so that he sacrificed himself willingly a day after their wedding.
And a power hungry hybrid who gave her money he could more than afford to give and said pretty words but also tortured, enslaved and killed people she was connected to....and also definitely had codependent issues with his brother.
I cannot fathom it.
All true facts. It’s late here so a meta! :D
As a huge Forwood shipper and I’m equally very critical of them. It’s a great ship for them both at first, then becomes a ship only for Caroline’s needs and development which isn’t fair to Tyler That Klaroline/Steroline shadow made those fans believe Tyler was the worst Caroline could get. When in reality he was the BEST romantic partner and friend she ever had.
What upsets me more about that ultimatum that Caroline FORCED is that she’s the only one we see comforting Tyler after Carol’s death. Even before Carol died, and Tyler was skeptical about being alpha she uplifted him and Tyler heavily respected what she had to say and went full force with it. Mind you, this is the same Tyler that broke every bone in his body just to be with Caroline. Then re-agreed to slavery for Care. Forwood communicated with each other and called out their faults. The other tvdu ships weren’t doing that!—then we get this full arc of Caroline’s grief and remember she bluntly told Tyler to get over the fact that she hooked up with Klaus because of her impulses and she’s not good1!!1
The series wanted to bury Forwood and they did so in the worst ways imaginable. Caroline gets pregnant with Alaric’s babies forcibly. (I understand Candice was pregnant but they could’ve hid her belly so Caroline wasn’t pregnant.)-Oh and we can’t forget Alaric was in love with her and proposed.
Steroline was supposed to follow the friends to lovers build up the way Forwood did and it never appears that Stefan is all in the way Caroline is. Tbh, even before the wedding Stefan wanted out the relationship he tried multiple times to end things in s8. Caroline refused and wanted it to work. Building them up after Liz’s death was a choice. Stefan manipulated Caroline heavily to when it came Tyler and their relationship.
Klaroline has no obstacles to pass with them. Klaus may give Caroline pretty things, and money but emotionally he’s never shown to give Caroline any support. When Caroline saves Bonnie from those 12 witches which is her first huge kill(correct me if I’m wrong) since s2 she immediately goes to Klaus and he basically tells her to get away from him. Klaus mentions how she’s too good for that small town but Caroline had never said she hated her home. What she did hate was Klaus grown ass destroying shit. They never had a serious conversation about anything tbh. I did enjoy how Caroline called him out at first but TO’s “you aren’t the villain in my story.” Ruined that. Oh and lol these shippers get on Damon for his rape of Caroline yet somehow, someway excuses that Klaus attempted to rape Caroline too in Tyler’s body…. Anyways! I do think a lot of Klaroline is rooted in Klaus wanting control over Tyler, and Caroline is a way to exert control over Tyler because of his love for her.
Okay this is long af, sorry! To end this off Tyler loved Caroline for who she was. He never wanted her to change, he valued and respected her. Never abused her or anyone she loved. He listened to what she had to say. Caroline’s other love interests NEVER saw her the way Tyler did. Btw, I wish people understood Tyler never, not once slutshamed Caroline for having sex with someone else. He was only mad that she slept with Klaus as if Klaus did not ruin Tyler’s life and murdered his mother. There’s obviously a reason Caroline didn’t want Tyler to know and continued to ignore the boundaries he placed up in s5 so they could just go back to the way SHE wanted them to be. It’s sad they were ruined because 5B of Forwood has moments where you can forget their broken up just based on Forwood’s chemistry. I forgot to add, some fans pretend Tyler couldn’t give Caroline a good life. Tyler wasn’t financially struggling, and would’ve done anything she asked of him. I think it’s a little problematic that Tyler did say everything he liked about himself was Caroline lol. But, he wanted nothing but her and their happiness. Just without the enslavement from Klaus.
Thank you for the ask!
FIC REC WEEK 9 – AUs
AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT: betheflame
Flame is the queen of fluff in my book. Her fics are like little pieces of candy, and no matter which one you choose, they're all delicious. I love the way she explores different AUs and makes them her own, especially the No Powers variety. So if you're looking for some treats, you're in the right place.
Here's some of her work that I think you should check out:
Have You Met My... Husband?
Pairing: Steve/Tony, Bucky/Natasha Rating: M Words: 7,317 Tags: School Reunion, Fake Relationship, Mutual Pining
Summary: Steve's high school reunion is coming up and for reasons that make no sense except in fic, Tony goes with him and poses as his husband. ... and things progress from there ...
Reasons why I love it: Natasha and Pepper really steal the show in this one, what with their meddling ways. Honestly, Steve and Tony need all the outside help they can get, my god, idiots in love is exactly right. I really love the humor in this one, and Bucky and Natasha's banter especially. This fic is adorable, and I hope you give it a shot!
Crouching Genius, Hidden Soulmate
Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: T Words: 1,276 Tags: Bucky Barnes is a Good Bro, Soulmates, No Powers
Summary: “We’re going to chat about that imaginary numbers bullshit, Stark,” Bucky said with a laugh, “but right now, come with me.” “Where?” “Downstairs,” Bucky said, offering his hand. “I’m about to change your life.” Tony barked out a laugh. “Okay Angelica.”
Reasons why I love it: You had me at Angelica. This fic is so sweet! I love all the little tidbits like Rhodey and Pepper's daughter and Steve's career that really flesh out the world. And of course, I'm a huge fan of Hamilton playing a major role in this fic. I love this one so much, so I hope you give it a shot (and don't throw it away, badum tz).
Paper Crowns and Secret Keepers
Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: T Words: 5,564 Tags: No Powers, A/B/O, Teacher Steve
Summary: Steve Rogers did not play favorites. He’d been one of the kindergarten teachers at Allensville Academy since he got out of graduate school and that was one of his key pedagogical beliefs - no playing favorites. But lands alive, if Peter Stark wasn’t testing his resolve.
Reasons why I love it: Aaaaaah not Flame subverting expectations in the best possible way, I am LIVING! Tony the not-alpha just breaks your heart once you learn about the circumstances that made his secrets necessary, and I love the political undertones throughout the fic in general. Also, Mairi (Askafroa) made some truly fantastic art for this that you desperately need to see if you haven't already, it's the cutest! This fic is amazing, and I hope you check it out for yourself!
A Totally Normal Dad
Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: T Words: 3,103 Tags: Identity Porn, Parenting, Canon Divergence
Summary: Steve is a totally normal, boring, suburban, stay-at-home-dad. He's also a superhero. His husband only knows the first sentence.
Reasons why I love it: The Incredibles, but make it Stony. I really love how this ties into canon, and oh my god, that paragraph about Steve wanting to grow old with Tony made me genuinely emotional. Also, Steve and Tony are so sweet with Peter, it makes me want to cry. This fic is amazing, and I highly encourage you to read it!
Wax On, Wax Off
Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: T Words: 1,354 Tags: No Powers, College AU, Merman Steve
Summary: Sure, a man could fall in love with a merman - but where would they make out?
Reasons why I love it: They're so fucking cute, ugh, I love them. Tony doing his level best to make life more comfortable for Steve is so sweet, and oh my god, the ending puts the biggest smile on my face. I also love the way Steve's merman-ism works and the cameos of the other Avengers in texting-form. This fic is delightful, and I hope you give it a go!
Walla....kn1ves....genius big brain yandere writer....i just (re)found your Yves work (im sure you saw me freak out in the tags lmao) if you have the time/energy/inspo pls i beg you for a speck, a crumb, a droplette, ANYTHING of my baby Yves x fem!reader. I'm not sure how specific is too specific but I have a truckload of daydreams and prompts for this man dc im down BAD BAD for the way you write him. I'm not sure if this is too specific of a request but can it be yves holding himself back constantly because he wants to *romance* the reader but its so obvious he's itching for more until one day he finally snaps and takes her (specifically him giving her his virginity and whoops maybe going crazy when he finds out she isnt one)? I'm just obsessed with his characterization and want to see him in a ton of situations and feeling/reacting to different things. The stern dom undertones his whole vibe has disguised by a friendly foreign guide 🥵 The drabble of him was sooooo good and such a tease of his personality, it's so enticing hahaha. If that prompt is no good or doesn't inspire you then anything else is fine and ofc if you have no inspiration for Yves at all then that's a-okay too!!! Thank you sooooo much for thinking up that beautiful man and sharing him with us!!! Hope you enjoy your holidays💞💞💞
A/N: Ugh I'm so sorry I took so long in answering 😭😭 I was gonna write like a whole piece but my time has been cut dramatically, so please accept this poor little piece!! I was honestly so overjoyed at seeing your tags, it makes me so happy to see people's reactions to my stuff ┗( T﹏T )┛I wish I could have more time to write for this because I love the concept, I'm a huge fan of the "mysterious foreign guide who's just a little too friendly" kind of trope. Thank you so much for your support anon and I hope you enjoy this!! OG piece here for any of you nerds!
It wasn’t hard to notice Yve’s shift in behavior. Well, this shift out of many. When you first met him, he gave off a kind, well-meaning but nervous vibe. He did his best to show you around, to make you comfortable and converse with you in english to the best of his knowledge. That kind persona shifted into something more… desperate; obsessive, once he brought you back to his apartment. He was still kind, still well-meaning and observant to your needs. He apologized profusely when you got upset from how he kept you from leaving, promising that you weren’t missing anything important in class and that he could show you real culture instead! What could you learn from a textbook that would be better than seeing the country itself?
But time and time again, Yves made excuses to keep you inside, to make you stay by his side whether through photoshoots or studying, with him as your “teacher”. You had to learn the basics before taking such a “big” step out into his country, right? Unfortunately for you, Yve’s only taught information on the most trivial subjects. From words like “textbook” to “glass”, you were able to make meaningless sentences that wouldn’t serve you well in conversing with native speakers outside of Yve’s little apartment. Sure, it might help you occasionally, but it got you no where closer to understanding Yve’s rushed mumbling and incoherent rambling.
With your sudden move to his apartment and his new change in conduct, Yves had slowly become less generous. He didn’t make as much of an effort to talk in english anymore, and made far less points to explain himself. You couldn’t tell what caused this new change-- a change that you were soon starting to accept as Yves showing his true colors. The man was still attentive to your needs, still caring and kind-- but the posessiveness that had slipped out almost entirely seemed to be taking hold. And while you’d think that a growing obsession would make it more beneficial to you-- it in fact, made your difficulty increase tenfold. Yves began to direct you on what you should wear, when you should eat, what you should do for the day.
 Not only that, but his attentiveness to…more intimate needs were far more prevalent as well. Whether it was bathing, or the need that pulsed between your legs, Yve’s was there to try and take care of it. You pushed him away multiple times, awkwardly trying to tell him that you were fine-- but it never seemed to stick. He always just looked at you with a tilted, confused expression, muttering in his native tongue as if he didn’t understand. So when the foreign guide began to sleep next to you instead of the cot on the floor, and began to press his morning erection agaist your backside sleepily, you knew your protests weren’t having any effect.
You would have walked right out of that teensy apartment the moment you felt he didn’t listen-- if you weren’t so afraid. If you weren’t afraid of the loaded handgun in his locked nightstand drawer, or how easily he could destroy your life at your new university-- which he mentioned offhand multiple times in a casual manner-- you would have walked out. The power he held against you, a foreign student with failing grades and no money, was too much for you to ignore. So, you decided to bide you time. It was only a matter of weeks until he got bored with you, you decided. But his new actions didn’t seem to prove that.
In fact, the lustful, mischievous look he gave you that evening was the complete opposite. His scrawny frame jumped atop yours, hooking his hands behind your neck and leaning in to try and kiss you. He had planned an unusually fancy dinner, lighting candles you had never seen in his apartment before and bringing a bottle of wine with some italian takeout. You tried to question him about the mound of pillows and blankets on his balcony, the sudden romantic lighting, but the male only gave you a broad statement on how it was a “celebration” of sorts.
Yves’ sudden prowling mood after dinner wasn’t a complete shock-- considering you felt his eyes on you the entire evening-- but it still caught you a tad off guard. You tried to reject him, to push him away after each kiss, but it was done with such little effort and such great fear that you stayed silent once he muttered in an annoyed tone in his own language. Yves took your silence as a surrender, friskily lowering his hand under your shirt to caress your abdomen. He rambled against your flesh in half-english as he kissed you up and down, not afraid to let out vocal little noises of pleasure, or grunts of satisfaction ones he heard your breath hitch or a hum of desire come from your lips.
But it wasn’t until he uttered a sentence with a familiar word, did you actually reply to him. You recognized the term from messing around with your friends, when you jokingly learned dirty words from your textbooks and the internet to use when you finally entered the country. You never expected to actually utilize them unless you went to a club or bar and happened to meet someone. One of those words, was ‘virgin.’ A more tame term compared to the bunch you had memorized, but one that you and your friends had idiotically decided to research. Though, it seemed your stupid endeavors had paid off.
As Yves repeated himself, you began to understand the sentence a bit more. The man was seeming to imply… you were a virgin? Something about you both no longer virgin-ing? Maybe he was saying that he was going to ‘virgin’ you? You couldn’t figure out what he was trying to say, only mustering up the courage to poorly explain your sexual status to him, first in english and then in a broken version of his language. You tried to repeat yourself, thinking you might have said your statement wrong-- but Yve’s shocked expression and sudden lack of kisses seemed to prove you wrong.
“You have…. Sex?” Yve put a hand to his mouth, eyes begging you to respond.
“Uh….yes?” You said with an awkward expression; you hoped he was asking what you thought.
Yve’s let out a choked gasp, looking as if you had crushed his heart in your palm.
He looked down, voice cracking as he mumbled something incoherent, and likely not understandable to you in the first place.
“I….I i’m sorry?” You tried to apologize, seeing how shaken Yves had become at finding out you weren’t as inexperienced as he. Despite his eagerness, you could tell he was new to trying to initiate something you had already grown long accustomed to, new to being so intimate. It was actually in part of his eagerness that you realized he wasn’t of the same sexual history. He was full of anticipation and desire, throwing caution and logic to the wind to fulfill what he had read in books and seen in films.
 Yves seemed to treasure the act of losing ones virginity far more than you had-- but you had only noticed it now. The candlelit dinner, the mood-fitting music-- your first experience was nowhere near as romantic.
Yves seemed shaken, his low, almost sob-filled words growing heavier. He grew more aggressive, seeming to realize something now that he had processed this unexpected news. He had assumed you were just as much of an amateur as him-- that he’d be the one to “deflower” you in an act of passionate romance-- a bubble fantasy that had just been popped. But the male realized-- if he couldn’t have his desired outcome, he’d have to make due with what he had. Which was to make sure you’d fall to your knees, experiencing the best night of ‘passion’ that would make you never want to crawl to another man again.
He was going to claim you-- to make it so those nights you spent with others never counted.
You could only understand a fifth of what Yves breathily moaned into your mouth, once again jumping your bones though this time much more roughly. Before you could say anything further you had felt his quick hands unbutton your pants, his own thrown to the floor. He didn’t listen as you begged him to atleast let you move to the bed, where you would no longer be visible to prying eyes on the balcony. But he didn’t care-- Yves had already taken off his shirt, intent on ripping yours away too. He didn’t care anymore if this wasn’t going to be special for the reason he expected-- he was going to make sure you would be left with a night you wouldn’t forget.
I’ve heard that people dislike this chapter? I don’t remember people hating it when it first came out but I guess I wasn’t really huge on social media in the sxf spaces…. honestly, I think it’s a good chapter. I can go on and on about it (and will. Right now)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First we have George Glooman going full throttle to fabricate evidence against Damian, (as well as the first page where we find out he was the one who hired Daybreak(?) to get Damian to fail his exams). (I’m a big fan of the butler’s design there, kinda cute??)
These panels are great because you can see just how shocked and confused Damian is, genuinely. You don’t even see anger on his face until after it settles down a bit.
Tumblr media
And this is interesting that this teacher is not at all taking Damian’s side, even calling Emile and Ewen his “flunkies”, which honestly feels a little bit extra mean? And the boys all look really shocked. They were the only ones to come to Damian’s support immediately, and it has 0 effect. And it’s not that the teacher necessarily should take Damian’s side, but clearly his name has no power here.
Tumblr media
And then ANYA !!!!!! Anya steps in, the one who constantly squabbles with Damian, the one who no one would expect to take Damian’s side (honestly, probably unexpected even if Damian is innocent, to outsiders). Anya steps in and clearly states that Damian would never do that, and that she’s a witness. She’s right, of course, Damian really wouldn’t ever do something like that.
I love that clearly the boys don’t expect anything of her, they’re all a little stunned that she stepped in.
Tumblr media
A side note is that it’s really funny that the teacher thinks Anya is “bad news” and takes her word for it?? It’s also really funny that it’s “like she can see right through people” lmao, that teacher’s intuition must be pretty good !!
Tumblr media
And then we get this gem!! Damian all flustered that Anya came to his rescue, and Anya saying something so cool that can only be misconstrued as feelings (lol), and Becky further implying it ?!? LOL which makes Damian more flustered !!! Super cute little conclusion to this scene (though the chapter goes on), I really was here kicking my feet giggly about it
Project Freak - Eddie Munson x Reader (Enemies to Lovers)
Tumblr media
Warnings:  Angsty af...Some smut...probably more if I do a part two?? 18+ Only. (Do not interact if under 18)
Summary:  You’re partnered up with the person you’d never be caught dead with. But the more you work alongside Eddie, the tension continues to build amongst eachother.
A/N: My first Eddie fic! I’m anxious af but if it doesn’t flop maybe I’ll do a part two?? Also I found the .gif on Pinterest so if anyone knows who made it DM me so I can give credit!
You tapped your pen against your desk and tried to ignore the teacher’s request. You pretended you didn’t hear it and like nothing had changed. You acted as if you weren’t just told you had a huge project due in two weeks and the teacher was assigning the partners. You didn’t just suck in a breath when the teacher told you were going to be partnered with Eddie Munson. The one guy who you couldn’t stand.
And you knew Eddie wasn’t your biggest fan either. He always teased you in your cheerleader uniform when you walked by, you were pretty sure he started a rumor last summer about you when you and your father moved out of the trailer park and into a house, and the few times you did speak to him he gave you the dirtiest looks. It was safe to say the feeling was certainly mutual without any genuine reasoning. And now you were forced to work together.
Jason gave you an apologetic look as the bell rang and you bolted out of your seat and headed towards your locker. But Eddie quickly caught up when you were half way down the hall and tapped your shoulder to get your attention, “Pardon me, princess. A word?” he asked you sarcastically as he leaned up against your locker while you continued to ignore him, “Yeah, okay. You’re not fucking up my grade in this class so you tell me how you want to go about this,” his eyes went to your legs in the cheer skirt and then he quickly reminded himself who he was speaking to.
“That’s cute. This is like what? 14th grade for you?” You snapped at him while you exchanged your books out in your locker. You didn’t even know why you were wasting your breath on him, “How about we just divide the work up and hand it in in two weeks?” you noticed the way Eddie’s brown eyes were on you when you gave him a glare.
“No can do, princess. We have to present in front of the class. It’s half our grade and I’m not getting up there unprepared when you and I both know I’m gonna get the blame for it,” you knew Eddie was right about that. As much as you didn’t care for him, you did always feel bad how people judged and looked at him. Getting the short stick was never easy.
You let out a sigh, “Fine. Let’s meet up after school and get this over with,” you countered with a sharpness to your voice. You just really wanted this conversation to end so you could go about your day and forget you were partnered with him, “Or do you have some clients to tend to?” you sneered as if Jason didn’t buy pot for you from Eddie.
“As long as you don’t have to go cheer for guys throwing balls in laundry baskets, I’m all yours, sweetheart,” Eddie wasn’t afraid to speak back to you. Eddie could care less about your popularity. “Meet at my place at 4. I’d give you directions but I think you know it pretty well?” He knew how you wouldn’t tell a soul you ever lived in a trailer. A part of Eddie wanted to leak that information to Jason and his buddies but he had no energy to do that. So he let you keep your secret between the both of you.
You flipped him off and turned your back to him, “Get away from me, fucking freak,” you shouted loud enough for people walking by could hear as you walked away. Eddie was a prick in your mind and the last person you wanted to be spending your free time with, “Go to hell, Munson…” you mumbled under your breath as you continued your dread for this project.
Eddie watched from the distance as you walked up to the trailer and knocked on the front door. He took his sweet ass time getting up and made his way over to you spitefully. Opening the door with a grin on his face as he welcomed you with a sarcastic cheer, “Welcome home,” he teased as he extended his arm to invite you inside, “Wow, all dressed up for me?” he nodded to your uniform with a playful wink.
He couldn’t stand most of the cheerleaders but what he couldn’t stand most was how he never pegged you for one of them. You had lived in this trailer park for years and even though you barely spoke to Eddie, he didn’t think you were one of them. You would at least smile at him from time to time when you crossed paths or would drop off a casserole you had made for Eddie’s uncle Wayne when you knew he worked late. There was a side of you Eddie once saw he thought was gentle and kind.
And then your dad bought a house in a cul-de-sac and just like that, everything changed. Suddenly, you made the pep squad and were dating all the most popular guys in Hawkins. The trailer park and Eddie never existed in your eyes. You didn’t even think twice when you began rolling your eyes at Eddie in the hallway for no apparent reason. So he did the same in return.
You pushed past Eddie with a scoff, “Let’s get this over with,” you sighed as you brought your books into the living room. You took a seat on the couch and began to open one up when you noticed Eddie was staring at you, “What is it, freak?” you asked him with a raised eyebrow.
“What’s your fucking problem with me, Y/N? Or am I just a reminder of your former life that may have been better so you project that onto me?” Eddie actually paid attention this year in psychology and he was glad he did because he saw the look on your face when he called you out for it. He was right. He knew it.
“Can we just get to work, please?” you dismissed the question as you turned the page in your book. You weren’t going to let Eddie The Freak Munson speak to you like you were a child. Even if you knew you were acting a bit ridiculous. “You don’t know me or anything about me,” you added with another aggressive page flip.
Eddie looked down at you and licked his lips and reached down for you on the couch. The next thing you knew, you were sitting on Eddie’s lap and straddling his legs and his eyes met yours, “I know you’re a fucking brat who puts way too much energy into hating me,” Eddie’s breath was on yours and your eyes went to his lips for a moment, “Why do you hate me so much, sweetheart…?” his voice was like a raspy whisper that made you tense from the inside.
“Shut up,” you told Eddie as you tried to pull away but you didn’t. You didn’t want to. There was something about the way Eddie was looking at you and how his hands were on your waist that you suddenly found yourself craving. But you were never going to be honest about that, “Why do you hate me?” you retaliated.
Eddie laughed bitterly while his hand traveled to your ass, “Because you’re a holier-than-thou, selfish brat who thinks she’s better than me,” he answered as he squeezed your ass. He smirked when he heard you whimper slightly so he did it again.
“And you’re a fucking freak and a self-righteous prick,” you seethed through your teeth when you looked at him. “Who also thinks he’s better than me,” you added smugly. It took two to play this game and you weren’t going to let Eddie speak to you like that.
“Well, well…aren’t we quite the pair then,” Eddie answered in a snarky tone with a dry laugh. He felt his cock harden up against your leg and neither one of you could ignore it even if you wanted to.
The next thing you knew, your lips crashed against Eddie’s and you were grinding your hips into him. Moaning into a kiss while Eddie’s fingers roamed through your hair. As the kiss grew deeper, so did your neediness for Eddie and your tongue found his with ease as you massaged them together with passion.
How the hell were you making out with Eddie Munson? And why were you liking it? The way Eddie’s hands traveled towards your inner thigh made your core start to ache while you sucked a harsh bruise against his neck. Your hips moved into Eddie’s where you felt his hardened cock and you could tell how big he was which only turned you on more. You haven't felt this way with any other guy. Not Jason. Not Billy. This was…different.
It was better.
“Is it pissing you off I’m making you wet, princess?” Eddie teased as he snaked his fingers into your pants. He could feel the dampness as his fingers brushed against your underwear which made his cock twitch for you, “Knowing I’m clearly the one you want right now?” his lips brushed against yours while he found your clit through the fabric of your underwear.
“Shut the fuck up, Eddie and make me cum…” you didn’t want to play his games. But you did want Eddie. You wanted him to help you reach that high and get you to where you needed. There was something about his touch that you wanted. “Please…” that was as nice as you were going to get and Eddie knew that.
Slipping his fingers inside, Eddie circled your clit tantalizingly slowly but the way you moaned told Eddie more than he needed. Smirking against your lips, he removed his hand from your pants and pecked your lips, “Well…look at the time. You better get going,” he carefully took you off his lip as he adjusted himself with a grin, “Maybe next time, be a bit nicer,” he teased.
“I…what? I said fucking please!” you rolled your eyes at him. You weren’t going to let him know how annoyed you were even though it was written all over your face how horny he had made you. He had just driven you up a wall and now…he was punishing you? “You’re serious?” you took a deep breath as you stood up from the couch.
“Scouts honor, sweetheart,” Eddie threw up his hand like he was taking an oath. He shrugged his shoulders and gave you a look, “But I’m really glad to know I can make you that wet. Guess you have a thing for freaks,” Eddie added before you slammed the door in his face, now pissed off, horny, and craving that release that you both knew only Eddie could get rid of for you.
If you’re still taking prompt requests, what about one where the reader is a sportsman from a different sport and Keeley set up a PR collaboration opportunity for Jamie with the reader involved?
I’m always taking prompt requests!!!!
“Look over here, darlin’.”
You rolled your eyes at the photographers pet name, letting your bow drop from across your shoulder to your hand again. The arrow in your hand, you imagined shoving it through your neck.
“Are we almost done?” You asked. It had been hours of single shots. Elsewhere, the footballer that you were doing a cover with for Sports Illustrated was having his individual portrait taken as well. “I’d like to eat something.”
“Yeah, that’s enough!” Keeley Jones shouted, earning a sigh of relief and a kiss blown in her direction from you. The photographer seemed annoyed, but stepped away from his camera.
“God bless you,” You muttered to her as you dropped the bow and arrow onto your directors style seat. “I’m starved.” Walking to the catering table, you grabbed a sandwich and stuffed it in your mouth.
“Grab something quick, they just finished with Jamie.”
You spit the food back out onto the grass.
“Jamie… Jamie Tartt?” You stared at her. “I thought it was with Roy Kent?”
She shook her head. “He backed out at the last second. Jamie is taking over as ambassador.”
The shoot was to promote a program to help underprivileged kids get involved in sports. It was a collaboration between AFC Richmond and the Richmond sector of Archery GB.
Before you had the chance to say anything else, the doors to the stadium opened, and out came Jamie Tartt. He was in his orange away kit, hair back in a headband, as if he was getting ready to play a match.
“This is Jamie,” Keeley said as he approached. He gave you a warm smile while she introduced you. It had been a while since you had felt starstruck, yet here you were, shaking hands with a player of your home team.
“Nice to meet ya,” He said softly. “Huge fan. You were brilliant in the Olympics.” The genuinity in his voice was throwing you for a loop.
It was a surreal moment for you.
“You, Jamie Tartt, a fan of me?” You said. “Can’t wait to tell my mum.”
He laughed just as the photographer called the two of you over. It wasn’t until you were back on the pitch that you realized you hadn’t actually eaten anything.
“Just play each others game,” He explained. “We’ll start with Jamie.”
Through your bashfulness, you were hesitant to just hand just anyone your bow and arrow to use. Even if that anyone looked at you with twinkling blues and had the most lovely smile you had ever seen.
“So I just pull it back like this?” He asked once in position at the target. He pulled the bowstring back, looking at you for reassurance.
“Here,” You said, approaching him so your chest was mere centimeters from his back. “Put your fingers like this…” Bringing your fingertips to his, you adjusted his grip on the riser. You reached to his other hand, and fixed his hold on the bowstring and the arrow end. Without moving your hands, you used your elbow to edge his upwards.
“Now, deep breath,” You whispered. When he inhaled, his back muscles shifted to brush against your chest. Impossibly, you tried not to think about it too much. “Three, two, let go.”
He released the arrow, and the two of you watched it fly towards the target. Though it didn’t hit the center, it did hit the target.
“Woah,” Jamie muttered.
“Amazing, isn’t it?” You asked, feeling your hot breath bounce off his skin and back towards you. Realizing that you were still close, you backed away. When he turned with freshly red cheeks, you knew he noticed it too. You scratched the back of your neck.
“Want me to show ya how to make a goal?” He asked when the silence went on for too long.
“Only if you’re as good of a teacher as I am,” You said cockily.
“Don’t worry, love,” He said. It was the first pet name you had been given today that you didn’t mind. “I’ll be even better.”
And you found yourself hoping for that.
Olivia’s Accident at School
This is another story from over on my Patreon.  www.Patreon.com/wettingcaptions
If you want to check out plenty more stories just like this one, head over there.
Fair warning, this story was commissioned and contains female messing, so take care if you’re not a fan of mild descriptions of panty poop.
————————-
Olivia sat near the back of the classroom.  Her head was down, and she was trying her best to turn invisible.  It was too late, and not even the whispers and laughter quickly spreading throughout the classroom could cover up the sound, nor smell, of Olivia noisily pooping her panties.
Olivia had already begged the teacher twice to let her go, but he had refused.  It was the class directly after lunch, and he said she should have gone then if she needed to go that badly.  Highschool girls should be able to hold it for one hour he had told Olivia.  Something in her lunch had obviously not agreed with her, and before the class was even halfway over, a wet fart signaled the beginning of Olivia’s accident.
“Ewww, Olivia pooped her pants.”  The girl sitting directly behind Olivia yelled.  The girl no doubt had a clear view of Olivia’s butt through the open back of the chair.  Olivia’s yoga pants were now wet, brown and sagging as her huge mess filled her full cut panties and was dumped into the seat of her pants.
“What’s that?”  The teacher stopped teaching when he heard the interruption.  When he saw Olivia’s face and realized what had happened, he burst into laughter, prompting the rest of the class to follow suit.  “Are you serious, Olivia?  I wasn’t aware I was teaching in preschool.  I was under the impression you were a young woman, not a little girl who poops her pants.  Stand up and come here.”
Olivia had no choice.  She stood up, cringing at the added weight in the seat of her pants.  The warm mess shifted, but the tightness of her pants kept the mess contained in her pants, pressing it against her skin.  She walked to the front of the room, hearing renewed laughter from everyone who saw her butt as she passed by.  The misshapen, lumpy brown mess in the seat of her pants made it painfully obvious what she had done.  She had pooped her pants.
“Disgusting,”  Olivia’s teacher stared down at her with a bemused smirk.  “Go to the nurse.  I don’t want to deal with, or smell, you any more than necessary.  Kelli,”  He gestured to one of the girls sitting in the front row.  “Would you mind escorting her?  Sorry, but I don’t want her to get lost, or have another accident along the way.”  The girl nodded.  Kelli stood up and followed Olivia out the door.
The halls were mercifully empty as class was still in session, but Olivia had to refrain from simply sprinting to the nearest bathroom and throwing away her soiled clothes.  As Olivia and Kelli passed by the nearest bathroom on the way to the nurse’s office, Olivia glanced at it longingly.  She could clean herself up and take off the poopy pants, but then she would have to walk naked to the nurse’s office, and that was just asking for more trouble.
“Wait stop,”  Kelli’s voice surprised Olivia as she was staring at the bathroom.  She stopped and turned to look at Kelli.  “The light’s perfect here.”  Kelli was holding up her phone, taking who knows how many pictures of Olivia from behind.
“What are you doing?”  Olivia shrieked.  She spun around and covered her butt with her arms, trying to hide it from the camera.
“Perfect,”  Kelli laughed.  “Now can you act like you really need to use the bathroom?”  She continued to snap photos.
“Stop!  Delete those now!”  Olivia demanded, still trying to hide herself from the camera.
“Not a chance,”  Kelli smirked.  “Maybe if you’re good I won’t post the ones with your face online.”
“Please don’t.”  Olivia begged.  Her school life was already in ruins, but if those pictures ended up on facebook, she might die.  “I’ll do anything.”
“Hmmm,”  Kelli had a devious smile.  “Turn around and bend over.”
Olivia did as commanded.  She couldn’t help but shudder as she heard the repeated clicks of a camera shutter coming from Kelli’s phone.
“Okay, let’s go.”  Kelli turned and walked away, towards the nurse’s office.  “You smell bad enough already.”
“What about the pictures?”  Olivia waddled after Kelli.  “Will you delete them now?  I did what you asked.”
“Like I said, maybe if you’re good.”  Kelli looked over her shoulder at Olivia.  “You and I are going to have a lot of fun together.  Unless you want all these pictures plastered all over facebook.”
Olivia could only follow in silence until they reached the nurse’s office.  Even if she tried to tell a teacher about Kelli, what was she going to say?  I pooped my pants and now this girl is making fun of me?  Every teacher in the school would just ask why a highschool girl is pooping herself in the first place.
When the pair walked into the nurse’s office, the nurse turned in her chair to look at them, her nose wrinkling.
“What on Earth happened?”  The nurse did not sound friendly, and Olivia couldn’t bring herself to respond.
“Olivia pooped herself in class, so Mr. Hartford told me to bring her here to get cleaned up.”  Kelli explained cheerfully.
“Excuse me?”  The nurse looked incredulous.  “She pooped herself, you pooped yourself?”  She looked at Olivia over the top of her glasses.  Olivia could only nod sheepishly.  “What’s the matter with you?  I don’t recall having any incontinent girls in my school.  Are you on any medications?  Drugs?  Illegal diet pills?”
“No, I-”  Olivia started.
“Quiet.”  Nurse Redfield cut her off.  “Go stand in that corner, over the drain.  And you,”  She pointed at Kelli.  “Please go and take a look through that bin there.  The one marked ‘Lost and Found.’  See if you can’t find some clothes for this silly girl.”
Olivia had tears in her eyes once again when Nurse Redfield walked up to her.  Why was this woman being so mean?  It wasn’t like Olivia had meant to poop herself.  Plus, once Kelli posted those pictures online, everyone would know what had happened.  Why was this happening to her?
“Pants off.”  The nurse demanded.
“What?”  Olivia was surprised by the suddenness of the demand.  Nurse Redfield didn’t seem to be in any mood for hesitation.  The woman just groaned in exasperation, before reaching over and yanking Olivia’s pants down to her ankles.  Olivia’s very full underwear followed suit, plopping on the floor in a wet heap.  Olivia had stepped out of the pile of soiled clothing when the nurse grabbed Olivia’s shoulders and spun her facing the wall.
“Stay still.”  Nurse Redfield grabbed a hose that was connected to the wall.  It looked a bit more delicate and precise than a garden hose, but it was the same idea.
Olivia gasped as the ice cold water hit her butt.  The water invaded her most intimate parts as the filth was washed onto the floor and down the drain.  The sudden attack of water made Olivia’s bladder contract violently, and for nearly five seconds her pee streamed down her legs and onto the floor.  Once Olivia managed to stem the flow, she prayed that the water from the hose disguised her accident.  Nurse Redfield snorted in disgust, but that might have been more from the general situation, than from recognizing the fact that Olivia lost control of her bladder temporarily.
“In all my years,”  Nurse Redfield continued to scold Olivia while washing her off.  “I’ve seen some disgusting and questionable things, but this might be the worst.  A girl your age?  Pooping herself in the middle of class?  You should be ashamed of yourself.”
“I tried, but Mr. Hart-”  Olivia tried to explain.  She had asked to go, but her teacher wouldn’t let her leave.  It wasn’t her fault she had pooped her pants.
“I don’t care what your teacher said or did.  If I was your teacher I wouldn’t let you leave during class either.  You should have gone before class, or you should have been able to hold it, like all your other classmates.  Did any of them have accidents?  Should your teacher make a special exception just for you?  Are you that incapable of controlling your body for one hour?”  Olivia couldn’t contain her composure under Nurse Redfield’s assault.
“No, I-”  Olivia was crying once again.
“I’ll have to call your mother to tell her what happened.  If you have a medical condition that makes you unable to control yourself, you should see a doctor and then the school will make reasonable accommodations for you.”
“No!  Please no.  I don’t have a problem, I just had an accident.  Okay?  I pooped my pants, I thought I could hold it.  But please, don’t tell my mom.  She wouldn’t understand.  I don’t want her to overreact.”  Olivia begged.  Nurse Redfield looked unaffected by Olivia’s words and tears, but she still sighed and agreed.
“Alright.  As long as you’re taking responsibility for your actions, I won’t call your parents.  But if anything like this should happen again…”  Nurse Redfield didn’t need to finish her threat.  Olivia thanked the nurse sincerely as the woman toweled off Olivia’s newly cleaned lower half.
“Here,”  Kelli walked up and handed a bundle of clothes to Nurse Redfield.  “This was all I could find.”  Olivia saw Kelli wink at her when the nurse wasn’t looking.
“Hmm, they’ll have to do.”  Nurse Redfield gave the clothes to Olivia.  “Get dressed.”
“What?  B-But isn’t there anything else?”  Olivia protested once she saw the clothes she had been given.
“Be quiet,”  Nurse Redfield snapped.  “And be grateful there’s anything at all.  It is not my responsibility to have a fully stocked wardrobe available just in case you soil yourself like an infant.  Now get dressed.”
“Okay.”  Olivia hung her head, defeated.  She unfolded the panties provided for her.  Olivia couldn’t imagine why these would be in the lost and found.  I guess it’s better than wearing the ones I pooped in.  Olivia thought to herself.  But I bet Kelli picked out the most babyish ones she could find.  The panties were obviously meant for someone much younger than Olivia.  They were bright pink and had colorful pictures of Elmo on the front and back.  The cotton fabric of the training panties was so thick, Olivia had to check to make sure it wasn’t actually two or three pairs put together.  If anyone ever finds out I’m wearing these, I’ll be done for…Although I’m probably screwed anyway once everyone hears that I pooped my pants in class.
Olivia pulled the panties.  She was glad to not be naked anymore, but given the circumstances she didn’t feel particularly happy.  Olivia wished she had some more appropriate panties.  She wished a great many things to be honest.  She wished that the skirt from the lost and found she was now wearing wasn’t so short or white.  It was short enough and floaty enough that if she wasn’t careful, Olivia was going to be flashing her new Elmo panties to everyone in school.  To make things worse, the white fabric was thin and light enough that, even when the skirt was down, the pink outline of the very much full cut panties could clearly be seen.  But, more than anything, Olivia wished that she had never pooped her pants in the first place.  She could have gone to the bathroom during lunch, although she didn’t need to go then.  She could have just left during the class, regardless of what her teacher said, and taken the detention.  She could have held on until after class, as was expected of someone her age.  Any of these options would have been preferable to the one Olivia ended up on; pooping her pants in class.  Maybe if this was kindergarten, or even first grade, the teasing would have stopped after a week or two, especially if the other kids were reminded of their own, relatively recent accidents, but now?  Olivia was in highschool.  Rumors were relentless and unforgiving enough already.  Once word got around that Olivia had pooped her pants, there would be no way to stop it, and if pictures ended up online, Olivia would never be able to escape it, no matter where she went.  Olivia may have been the only girl in the entire school to have had an accident in the past ten years.  There’s no way people would just forget about that in a couple weeks.
Fully dressed, and already imagining the horrible nicknames she would receive, Olivia was kicked out of the nurse’s office.  Kelli was practically skipping as they walked back to class.
“Oh, wait here.”  They were standing just outside the bathroom door when Kelli stopped Olivia.
“What?”  Asked Olivia.  She wasn’t in any hurry to get back to class, so she stopped.
“I just have to get some pictures of your adorable new outfit.”  Olivia groaned internally at Kelli’s words.  Again with the pictures.
“What?  Please no.  Haven’t you tortured me enough?”  Olivia pleaded.  If she didn’t stop this soon, she would end up as Kelli’s plaything.
“What?  You want to stop?”  Kelli pouted.  “I thought we were having fun.  Oh well, if you just want me to post those pictures online then…”  Kelli trailed off.
“NO!  I’m sorry.  Please don’t, I’ll do anything you want.  Just, just delete those pictures.”
“Okay, in the bathroom.”  Kelli pushed Olivia through the door and into the empty bathroom, away from any pesky teachers that might have saved Olivia.  “Now, turn around.”  Olivia turned to face the wall, and immediately Kelli started taking pictures.
“Awww, your baby panties are so cute.”  Kelli lifted the back of Olivia’s skirt and took some more pictures.  Olivia wanted to protest, but she could only bite her tongue.  “And why are you wearing such silly panties?”
Because these are the ones you picked out for me you psycho bitch…Olivia sighed, swallowing the words she wanted to yell.  “Because I had an accident.”
“Turn around, we can’t hear you.”  Kelli said.
“What?”  Olivia turned around to see the red light blinking on Kelli’s phone.  “Are you recording this?  I-”  Kelli held up a finger, and Olivia knew the power that finger.  She could upload dozens of pictures, any one of which could ruin Olivia’s entire future.
“Again, oh hold up your skirt in front now, why are you wearing such silly panties?”  Kelli asked, smiling behind the phone she was holding up.
“Because,”  Olivia was blushing fiercely while exposing the front of her Elmo panties.  “Because I had an accident.”
“You sure did.”  Kelli laughed.  “What kind of accident was it?”
“Do I really have to do this?”  Olivia protested.  “I…I pooped my pants.”
“Awww, did Olivia go poopy in her panties?”  Kelil asked in mocking babytalk.
“…Yes.”  Olivia answered once it became clear Kelli was waiting for her to respond.
“Perfect.”  The red light shut off and Kelli lowered her phone.  “Now let’s get a couple more pictures.”
“Really?  Can’t we just go back to class already?”  Olivia complained, eager to escape from Kelli.
“In a minute.”  Kelli assured her.  “Just a couple more.  Here, act like you really need to use the bathroom.”  Reluctantly, Olivia obeyed.  “Yeah, that’s it.  Cross your legs, and put your hands against your crotch.  Perfect.”  Olivia found the modeling easier than she might have otherwise.  The brief relief she had in the nurse’s office hadn’t emptied her bladder, and now she felt the definite urge to go.  Not that she would ever let Kelli know.
Finally, after what felt like ages, Kelli was satisfied.
“Hashtag GottaGo, Hashtag NotAgain, aaaand sent.”  Kelli laughed while typing on her phone.
“What!?”  Olivia nearly fell over.  “You promised not to post any of those.”  She was nearly crying in frustration and despair.
“I’m kidding,”  Kelli smiled, but Olivia didn’t feel any better.  “But if you don’t do exactly what I say…well you can imagine what’s going to happen.”
Class was all but over when Olivia finally slunk back into the room behind Kelli.  Everyone stared at her, no doubt remembering the sight of her yoga pants full of poop when she left.
“Thank you for your help, Kelli, and welcome back Olivia.”  Mr. Hartford stared at Olivia when she walked in.  “I hope you’ve learned your lesson.  Although in my experience, undisciplined girls like you do not learn from their mistakes.  If you were my child, or if the school permitted it, I would take you over my knee right here and now, and I would make sure you never acted out again.”
Olivia shuddered as the rest of the class laughed at the image.  Being spanked in front of the class, it would be nearly as embarrassing as having pooped her pants in the first place.  Surely the teacher would lift her skirt for the spanking, and then everyone would see her childish panties.  Or would he pull them down, and give her a bare-bottom spanking?  Even if her school life became hell, Olivia’s only solace was that her mother wouldn’t need to find out about what happened.  Her mother was prone to overreact, and if she learned that Olivia had pooped her pants at school, then a spanking would have been the least of Olivia’s worries.
Heya man huge huuuuuuge fan of your acount so i would like to say a few things i feel like mha has so many wasted characters like class b and most of the plf like i know the main cast is going to get most of the focus but its like... so much potential is wasted to me. What is your opionon on this?
Shonen cast bloat’s a bitch. This is true of many series, but ESPECIALLY this one. However, I have an almost opposite opinion from you: in many ways, I wish many of the side characters weren’t there at all because they, especially with how many there are, sometimes draw away from the main and primary supporting cast, which is what this story is about.
Well-used side characters do what they came to do (which means they sometimes explain the moral or theme to their intended audience of younger readers), and I feel like most of the characters do that. And if they don’t, I’m very much a Bakugo (or a ShigAfO) about it when it comes to this series: I don’t care about the potential of extras. If they don’t do their job, my only desire is that they get cut from the story for a stronger final draft.
I have a terrible confession to make in the case of 1-B: outside of Monoma, Kendo, Mushroom gal and Honnenuki, I don’t really care about Class 1-B. I also don’t feel like we really need to. They were there as functional adversaries-of-the-week and did their job very well and got to be fun little western superhero-and-eastern shonen reference characters through their powers and appearances at the same time.
So, no, I don’t feel like they have that much potential to waste.
My feelings about many of the characters outside of 1-B are pretty much the same, but I feel like I should point out a couple notable examples:
Mt. Lady - had an arc. Wasn’t a big one but was nice. I didn’t need any more.
Ms. Joke - did what she needed to do. She might be fun to follow for like a TUM volume, but I really don’t care that much.
Aizawa - his full story got told in Vigilantes and I LOVED IT. Would have been fine sacrificing, like, the entire Class 1-A vs Class 1-B arc and maybe some PLF setup to have the real estate for it instead in the main series tho
Grand - he did what he needed to do. I don’t care about his potential, only his goals and resolve, and we saw that by the end.
Fatgum - I fucking love this guy. I would watch a whole series about him, but I don’t need it. He said what he said.
Shiketsu/Remedial Class kids - did we need everything we got? No. Would I trade it for anything? No. Did I feel there was more to tell? Absolutely not. Would I read more if it was offered? Absolutely would.
Class 1-A - This is my second dirty little secret: the Hero Academia is my LEAST FAVORITE PART OF MY HERO ACADEMIA. (The Endeavor arc is my favorite part because we get to ditch the class and teachers and focus on the main cast sans Toshinori.) I actually would be happy if the class was significantly smaller. We do not need all those kids. However, I found all of them charming and cute at minimum so I was not upset by their inclusion - I just found much of it unnecessary. I don’t see it as potential that has been wasted, though. I see it as a waste of story real estate.
My Villain Academia - Geten, ReDestro, and the PLF did what they came into the story to do. I do not care about any potential they might have outside of that, and they did a great job setting up Dabi/Toya to have one of the best moments in the series.
The previous OfA users - dude. I do not want to sit through the detailed life and times of all eight of them. I am happy to ignore anything that isn’t immediately relevant to the story at hand.
Wash - this is the most crucial character of the cast. He is perfect and perfect in the amount we’re given. Do NOT @ me.
