I'd absolutely love some sterek fic recs because I'm trying to broaden the ships I read. I've watched the first 3 seasons of teen wolf but haven't read any fics and don't know where to start. I'm fairly open to reading any content, although I'm not the biggest fan of like the common school/coffee shop etc AUs.
Also I love how you're gotten into blogging hockey recently. Have you read any hockey rpf since getting into nhl? Personally sidgeno and mattdrai have my heart, but like I said I'm looking for new ships to read like sterek.
WOOOO LET'S GOOOO!!
As always, read the tags etc etc. Probably a lot of these will be author recs. I will say Sterek has the potential for an age gap concern but I don't read fic where that's written as a predatory thing, FWIW, but I do read some where Stiles is 17 but where I feel like it's handled at least somewhat gracefully
Gravity's Got Nothing on You by @zosofi is great - I really like all their stuff actually!
@kalpurna's Fascination and @drunktuesdays' bigger, longer and uncut are both *gems* - so funny.
We've Written Volumes (in Blood and Scars and Ink) by @notthequiettype is absolutely brilliant, one of my fav fics of all time, way up on my reread regularly list. They only have one other Sterek but I love that one too (and they write hockey rpf but I haven't really dived in there yet!).
The Moon's Gonna Follow Me Home by @turningterrific is stunning. They're SUCH a good writer, although sadly this is their only Sterek (but they have written some amazing hockey RPF as well!).
Every stumble and each misfire by @everchanginginks is fucking phenomenal. True story, I read this fic and then didn't keep track of it but it stayed in my brain, and I spent literally HOURS combing my AO3 history to find it, and when I did, I promptly downloaded it and created the "Best Ever" collection on my Kindle specifically for this fic.
Everything by @suburbanmotel. They are an incredible writer and even more incredible person and I'm so lucky to call them a friend!
I really love @lunacanislupus-22-blog writing but particular favorites are: Feel it like a fever, burning through the night , Spirit grows when love goes away and I know that you love me, even when I lose my head (and I'm not normally one for amnesia fics because they make me SO ANXIOUS but this one is SO good).
Cornerstone by Vendelin is really good too (mind the tags on this one).
By Any Other Name by @entanglednow is fucking phenomenal (and again with the amnesia fics?!?!) and so so well-written. Check out all their stuff!
I really love @devildoll's writing very much a lot! Particular favorites include: Come with Me and Walk the Longest Mile (and I don't usually gravitate to post-apocalyptic fic even though I love the genre in fiction but this one is fucking brilliant); Stand Fast in Your Enchantments (painful and so good); My Heart Comes Tumbling Down (OH MY HEART) and Love, Like a Sentence of Death.
There's Monsters at Home by @wellhalesbells | calrissian18 is a classic and really good! They've written a ton of really great fics (the Hilary Duff lyrics one is a another personal favorite!)
Not Quite Lost (Not Quite Found) by @alocalband is gorgeous. Just. beautifully written.
stuck in reverse by @crazyassmurdererwall is also really good! Definitely check the tags on this one, as it is Stiles still in HS.
Start Small, Like Oak Trees by smallbirds is really lovely. Everything of theirs that I've read, I've really liked.
Okay, just a couple more I promise!!
The Difficult Kind (series) by whiskey_in_tea is an old one but really really wonderful.
The First Date series by @halffizzbin - the whole thing is delightful but I absolutely adore the final installment!
I will note that many of these authors also have Hockey RPF fic, JUST SAYING (I really am fascinated as to what that pipeline is??). I've read a ton of hockey RPF as well (sidgeno for sure) and I'll check out mattdrai now!!
Anyway, hope this helps as a place to start!!

Is it ok if you write a thing about HS Sammy getting turned back into a child? (Both mentally and physically) I think that would cause some adorable shenanigans to occur (with the toons help ofc u-u)
Yeah, sure!
----------------------------------------------------------------
Sammy had long been the victim of magic shenanigans. And today was no different. Joey had been doing....something, and now Sammy was a child.
Now, this in itself presented a pretty big problem, as he couldn't very well do his job when he was a little kid. But there was another problem. And that problem was that Sammy had no memory of anything that had happened after the age of ten, the age he seemed to currently be. Meaning he didn't recognize anyone in the studio (aside from Jack) and didn't understand how he'd gotten here or where his parents were.
"....So this is bad," Joey said, glancing over at where Sammy was hiding behind Jack.
"You think?" Bendy growled.
"Do you think you can fix this?" Henry asked, trying to will away the headache he could already feel developing.
"Of course I can!" Joey quickly assured him, although his confidence faded quickly. "I just...don't know how long it'll take to reverse this..."
"I can watch him until he's back to normal," Jack volunteered. "He knows me, after all."
"That would be great, thank you, Jack." Henry gave Jack a weak smile.
"You're welcome." Jack returned Henry's smile before focusing his attention back on the small Sammy. "You wanna see my workstation?"
Sammy hesitated, then nodded, shrinking back further in the way that signaled there were too many people and he was overwhelmed.
"Alright, come on." Jack gently guided Sammy out of Joey's office and through the halls toward the Music Department.
As they traveled, Sammy remained glued to Jack's side, looking very much as though he were trying to hide. Which, honestly, he probably was. Sammy had never done particularly well with being suddenly thrust into new environments. He needed time to mentally prepare himself for the new space and the new people. Jack knew this had to be incredibly overwhelming for the small version of his friend. Which was why he was going to do his best to make this easier for Sammy.
When they got to the top of the stairs that led to the sewers, Sammy abruptly stopped, pulling back.
"What's wrong?" Jack asked.
Sammy shook his head, covering his nose. "It smells," he said. "I'm not going."
"Why don't we go to your office, then?" Jack suggested.
"My...office?" Sammy echoed with a frown.
"It won't smell," Jack said.
Sammy's frown deepened, but he nodded, taking Jack's hand again and following him back up the stairs to the office. Sammy squinted a bit as they approached the office, his gaze zeroing in on the sign above the window.
"Why does it have my name on it?" He asked, tugging on Jack's sleeve.
"Because it belongs to grown-up you," Jack answered, fishing out the key to the office and unlocking it.
Sammy's eyes widened at this. "...Grown up me must be really important..." He said quietly.
"Something like that," Jack laughed, holding the door open and ushering Sammy inside.
Sammy tentatively stepped inside, looking warily around. Jack remained where he was by the door, watching Sammy look around. It was interesting to look at Sammy and see the seeds of behaviors he regularly displayed as his adult self. The way he squinted when he was concentrating particularly hard, the way he folded his arms around himself when he was in a new environment.
He'd forgotten how cute Sammy had been as a child too. Granted, he probably hadn't noticed it when he'd been a child himself, but seeing child Sammy as an adult was really driving home to Jack just how adorable Sammy had been as a kid.
"What's this?"
Jack's attention was drawn back to Sammy as the boy pointed to the sheets of music on the desk. There were a few finished compositions, as well as a half-done song for Alice.
"It's sheet music," he answered, walking over to stand next to his friend.
Sammy let out an adorable huff, folding his arms. "I know that," he said indignantly. "But what are they?"
"I'm not sure what you mean." Jack gave an apologetic smile.
Sammy huffed again. "What are they for? The names are weird."
"They're songs for cartoons," Jack explained. "You wrote them."
Sammy's pouting was abruptly stopped as his eyes went wide. Slowly, he looked up at Jack with an awestruck expression.
"...I wrote them?" He asked quietly, pointing at himself.
Jack couldn't help but laugh. "You sure did. And I'm writing the words to go along with them."
Sammy's face split in a huge grin and he began to flap his hands. "We're making songs together!" He exclaimed, bouncing up and down.
Jack's smile widened. "Yeah, we are!"
"We're making songs together!!" Sammy repeated, beginning to jump around excitedly.
The display warmed Jack's heart. It honestly felt really good to see a little Sammy so ecstatic at the prospect of making music with him. He was happy to know his friend liked working with him.
The moment was interrupted, however, by a gentle knock on the door. Sammy froze, immediately scampering to hide behind Jack's legs.
"It's okay," Jack quietly assured him before addressing whoever was at the door. "Yeah?"
"I hope I'm not intruding." Susie's voice came from the other side of the door.
"Well, I wouldn't say you're intruding..." Jack glanced down at Sammy, who was staring intently at the door and clinging to Jack's pants.
Susie gave a little laugh. "I'm sensing there's a but."
"There is," Jack laughed as well. "Sammy's a bit skittish right now, that's all."
"Ah, right..." There was clear disappointment in Susie's voice.
"Is it okay if she comes in?" Jack asked, gently patting Sammy's head.
Sammy frowned, hunching his shoulders and continuing to stare at the door.
"...Just for a little," he said.
"Thank you." Jack turned back to the door. "He says you can come in for a little."
"Really?!" Susie exclaimed.
Like a startled cat, the loudness of the statement made Sammy withdraw further, prompting Jack to ask Susie to be a bit quieter.
After an apology, Susie tentatively entered. She looked on the verge of squealing upon seeing Sammy's little face peeking out from behind Jack's solid form, but she managed to keep it together.
"Oh, he's adorable..." She whispered.
"Who're you?" Sammy demanded, eyes narrowed.
"This is Susie," Jack said. "She sings some of the songs you and I write."
Susie gave a little wave. "Your songs are very nice."
Sammy continued to stare at Susie, his eyes still narrowed. Slowly, though, he crept out from behind Jack.
"Oh, you're so cute..." Susie said, still making a valiant effort to not squeal or scoop Sammy up.
"'m not cute..." Sammy grumbled, folding his arms. "...So you...sing?"
"I do!" Susie confirmed with a smile. "Would you like to hear?"
Sammy hesitated, thinking about it for a good long minute, before tentatively nodding.
Susie cleared her throat, standing up to her full height. Then, she launched into "Lonely Angel".
As soon as the first words left her lips, Sammy looked utterly enraptured. He stared at Susie with unbridled wonder as she sang. Jack made a mental note to bring this up to Sammy once he was back to normal. He couldn't wait to see how flustered Sammy would be.
"You have a beautiful voice..." Sammy whispered once Susie had finished singing.
"Aaw, thank you!" Susie put a hand to her chest. "You know, I was just about to go record a new song. Do you want to come watch?"
Sammy hesitated again, looking at Jack.
"I'll come with you," Jack assured him.
Satisfied by this response, Sammy turned back to Susie and gave a little nod, reaching out to take her hand.
Susie stifled a squeal, then led Sammy out of the office, with Jack following behind.
Sammy spent the rest of the day glued to Jack and Susie's sides. Despite his initial wariness of her, after hearing her sing he was suctioned to her side like a koala. Something about her made him feel safe, although he couldn't explain why.
Everyone thought it was absolutely adorable, especially Boris and Alice. They had the good sense not to say this while Sammy was around, for fear of making him embarrassed and cutting the koala impression short, but they were certainly thinking it. Wally was also making a mental note to tease Sammy about this later.
Thankfully, by the end of the day, Joey had managed to figure out a way to return Sammy to normal. It did take a bit of convincing to get little Sammy into the spell circle, but once they did it was a fairly simple process of executing the spell.
When the smoke cleared, there was adult Sammy, bright red and looking mortified.
"We will never speak of this again," he whispered.
"No promises~," Jack said with a big grin.
Sammy groaned, covering his face. Why did this always happen to him?

Next Aisle Over
Steve Harrington x fem!reader/cheerleader!reader

A/N: Thank you for the request!! You have no idea how much I appreciate it and how excited I got when I saw it!! I hope it's to your liking, it was a bit difficult at first but once I go the ball rolling I got it to flow. Hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
You were walking around Family Video that day just to pass the time. Cheer practice had ended early and you knew you would be bored going straight home from it. Nobody was free to hang out that evening and your parents were working late, so you knew you needed something to do at home other than your homework. With Hawkins being Hawkins, things to do by yourself were pretty slim pickings. Therefore, you figured you would stop by the video store and find yourself something new to watch in the basement that night.
You knew Robin Buckley worked there, so you weren’t surprised to see her at the front counter when you walked in. You saw her regularly at certain school games with the band and spoke with her occasionally simply by chance.
However, what you didn’t expect to see was Steve ‘The King’ Harrington to be working with her. You had assumed, along with many from the grade ahead of you, he would be running from Hawkins as soon as he got the chance. Graduating, moving on, going to college, getting married, all the usual milestones. Yet there he was, in the aisle in front of you, having a not-so-smooth conversation with a girl while probably being paid minimum wage.
“You know, the main character in this movie reminds me a bit of you.”
The girl giggled, making your face contort. That couldn’t be her real laugh, could it?
“What makes you say that?” She asked sweetly. You took two movies from the shelf to choose between, perking your ear for his response.
“You both have the same eyes I think… You know you have beautiful eyes? You should never close them, not even at night.”
You puffed air out your nose in dry humor as you put one movie back on the shelf. You had to admit, that line wasn’t too bad. A little cheesy but not the cheesiest you’d ever heard.
Before you could hear the girl's response you began making your way over to the front counter with your tape of choice. Robin caught sight of you from the back and after waving, gave you a ‘one moment’ gesture as she carried a pile of tapes.
While waiting, your eyes trailed over to Steve still speaking to the girl. You looked just in time to see her turn away, rather annoyed. With a slight breeze, she walked past you towards the romance section, disappearing behind another shelf.
You chuckled to yourself, wishing you had heard what went so wrong so fast. Looking back at Steve, he had his hand in his hair and cheeks puffed out in a sigh as he looked at the ground. For a moment he glanced at you, then quickly turned away and pretended to adjust the tapes that didn’t need adjusting. Somehow his hair was just as you had remembered it, if not a little more shaggy.
“Hi, sorry about that. Just this tape (y/n)?” Robin said as she approached the counter.
“Yep, that’s it,” You glanced back over at Steve for a moment, then leaned in over the counter. “Does he do that a lot?”
Robin glanced at him as well. “What, mess up the shelves? Yeah, a lot.”
You smiled as she typed into the computer. “No, I mean flirting with random girls that walk in.”
“Ohh, yeah,” She nodded her head. “He does that a lot too. It never lands, believe it or not.” She tutted, then asked for your information for the rental. You gave it to her gladly.
“Funny, didn’t he used to have a lot of game?” You continued the conversation, retrieving your wallet from your bag. The question sounded innocent enough, but you genuinely wondered what suddenly made it so hard for him to swoon a girl. Just a year or two before he was the prince charming of Hawkins High.
“Total is $5.22. And ‘game’? Eh, to be honest with you, I don’t think he really ever had game.” She replied sarcastically, although a smile played on her face.
You snickered with Robin as you paid. When you turned to leave you looked once more at Steve standing in the same aisle, only to already catch him staring at you. Quickly you averted your gaze and focused on your short journey home.
Only a few days later you returned, planning on trading in your old movie for a new one… And also planning on eavesdropping a bit. Was it so wrong you wanted to witness Steve’s flirting crash and burn again?
Once again, Robin was at the counter. Quickly you returned the rental, then began to trek through the store, aisle by aisle, until you heard a familiar voice the next aisle over along with a feminine giggle.
“No wonder it’s all grey and cloudy outside, all the color is in your eyes.”
Your head snaked back in surprise. Did he have an obsession with eyes or something?
There was a short pause before the silence was broken. “It’s… not cloudy outside anymore.” A girl's voice responded warily.
You bit your tongue to keep from laughing as you shifted yourself to look out the front windows. Sure enough, the sun was out.
“What? W-... I uh… Really?” Steve stuttered clumsily. “I could’ve sworn it was supposed to be cloudy all day…”
“Look, can you just help me find what I need?”
Your eyes widened. This was better than you thought it would be.
You brought your hand to your smirk as Steve gave a dejected ‘yeah’ and the two left the aisle next to yours. Only then did you let out a small laugh, quickly walking out of the store in second-hand embarrassment.
On the drive home, you couldn’t help but continue to smile to yourself. Since when did Steve’s attempts at flirting get to be so clumsy and adorable? Back in school, you heard stories from other girls of Steve picking them up like his words were sex to their ears. Now though, his words were more like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Unable to get over the pure awkwardness of it, you knew you had to come back for more.
And that’s what you did after nearly every cheer practice on Mondays and Fridays. Sometimes he wouldn’t be working, but on others, he was there and you heard him try to flirt at least once. Every once in a while he would get the girl's number, but you always heard from Robin at check out that the dates never went anywhere… If he even got a date in the first place. You had to admit, your heart went out to the guy for trying. He was persistent, that was for sure.
Eventually, you began to feel strange about spying on him like you were. You still tried not to speak to him and only pay for a rental if Robin was working the counter. When you thought about it, you couldn’t recall ever speaking to Steve recently, at least not since he graduated. That led you to wonder if you were truly being as sneaky as you tried to be, dodging his sight as much as you could while still being near him. He hadn’t noticed you yet, right?
Robin quickly began to catch on to your frequent visits and gravitation toward Steve. She tried her best to keep quiet about it to him, but on one closing shift, she couldn’t help herself.
Steve had sighed, banging his head against his locker once after yet another rejection. “Rob, I just hit on the same girl a second time this week because I didn’t fucking remember her.” He whined, banging his head once more. “I think I’ve hit on every girl in town.”
“Eh, not every girl…” She shrugged, stripping off her work blazer.
He looked at her, a red splotch glowing on his forehead. “You don’t count.”
“Not me, stupid,” She laughed. “You really haven’t noticed her?”
He put his palms out helplessly. “Who?”
“Just like you to not notice,” She mumbled, stuffing the blazer in the locker and slamming it shut. “You have a secret admirer, Stevie.”
The spark in his eyes reignited, however, he crossed his arms with an annoyed expression. “And you’re not going to tell me who it is?”
Robin tilted her head up and shook it proudly. “That’s for you to figure out, I am simply an observer.” Dramatically she put her hands out and bowed, feigning humility.
After that night, Steve tried his best to pay attention to his surroundings throughout the work days. Eventually, he noticed you came in often, however, if at any point he tried to seek you out, you would magically disappear. That is until you were checking out with Robin at the front. One day while doing so, Robin glanced at Steve on the other side of the store and smiled to herself.
“I don’t think you’ll be able to keep this up much longer, (y/n),” She said, keys clacking as she typed.
“Keep what up?”
“Playing creeper around Harrington,” She shook her head. “What else would I be talking about?”
Your eyes widened and you leaned over the counter slightly. “Is it that obvious? Does he know?”
“He’s starting to catch on.”
That scared you away for a while, and you weren’t proud to admit that. You weren’t quite ready to speak to him yet, as frustrated as that made you. Why would you spy on him just to never talk? Wasn’t that what you were working towards?
Eventually, late fees for your recent rental started to come in and rack up in price the longer you stayed away. Robin even encouraged you at school to come back and keep doing what you had been, that it was driving Steve crazy. Your stomach did summersaults over that the rest of that night after hearing that news.
At that point, you had had time to mull over the situation and you made a decision: If you just so happened to run into him, you’d make a move. Silently, though, you also decided that you were also going to try to avoid him. Setting yourself up for failure on purpose felt like the best possible plan.
You decided to go back to Family Video on a Tuesday, out of the usual norm, in an attempt to not look as suspicious. Your silent plan of avoidance was immediately thrown out the window as you walked through the front doors. This time, Steve was the one at the counter.
He gave you a polite smile and the customary Family Video welcome before you turned and made your way over to the romance section. Then the horror. Then the comedy. At no point did you see Robin and you concluded she must not have been working that day.
Shit.
Absentmindedly you began adjusting your ponytail as you went up to the counter and slapped the old movie on the counter. “I need to return.”
“No problem,” Steve nodded, beginning the return process. “You’ve been in a lot recently, right?”
You shrugged, playing with the ends up your jacket sleeves at your sides. “Yeah, a little I guess.”
“I remember you, you always come in in uniform.”
He remembered you?
“Where’s Robin today?” You blurted, cringing internally at yourself.
“Off for the afternoon.”
“Bet you’re jealous.”
He shrugged and looked at you. “Not right now.” He smiled, then looked back at the computer. Then his brow came together. “Oh… Uh, looks like you have some late fees?”
“Shit, yeah,” You cursed and fumbled for your wallet. “I was kind of avoiding coming in,” You chuckled nervously.
He tilted his head. “Yeah, those fees will get you.”
You slapped your wallet on the counter and paused to look at him. “No, not because of the fees. It was because listening to you flirt so much was too nauseating,” You teased.
He laughed in disbelief and rested a hand on his hip, the other resting at the computer. “Nauseating? No, no, I think what you were feeling were butterflies. It’s a common side effect actually.” He said matter of factly as he grinned.
You shook your head defiantly. “Pretty sure it was nausea, I know what that feels like.” You dug in your wallet, taking out a twenty and sliding it to him. “Can’t be puking in public.”
He hummed a response, taking the bill and beginning to retrieve your change. As he handed you the coins, you noticed he purposely pushed the weight of his hand down into yours until your hand hit the counter before dropping the coins in your palm. The gesture left your skin feeling like static.
Newfound confidence jumped in your chest as you stuffed the change into your wallet. “Anyone ever given you butterflies?”
His breath hitched in his throat at the question. “Uh, well… once or twice.” Right fucking now, he thought.
You looked up and gave him a sweet smile. “That’s nice.”
You stared at each other for a moment. Over the weeks before you had been avoiding him as much as you could. Now though you found yourself not wanting to leave. The jingle of the front door broke the tie between you two as another customer walked in.
Steve’s eyes darted as he tried to think of something to say. “You… want another movie?”
You sighed, putting your wallet away. “I don’t know, those fees drained me pretty dry.”
He shook his head. “Go pick one out. It’s on the house.”
“What?” You paused, your hand on the zipper of your bag. “Why?”
He smiled knowingly and leaned over the counter on his elbows. “Gives you a reason to come back and stalk me again.”
This close, you could smell what you assumed to be the product he used in his hair.
Your mouth dropped open. “I… That’s not-... I was not stalking you,” You tried to play off cooly, but it was an obvious failure.
He shrugged, pulling away. “Whatever, if you don’t want the free movie that’s fine by me.”
“Wait, hang on,” You piped, your pitch higher than usual. Only when he turned and you saw his expression did you realize you just fell hook line and sinker for his ploy. Your shoulders sagged.. “Oh, ha ha, I get it,” You deadpanned and rolled your eyes. “You’re a real tool, you know that?”
He put his hands up, his mouth tilting to the side. “So I’ve been told.” He leaned on the counter again. “But I’ve never once been a stalker.”
Shaking your head, you whirled around and called to him over your shoulder. “See you around, Harrington.”
“I bet you will, secret agent-... Wait, hey! I don’t know your name-”
You didn’t stick around to tell him.

I really get this strong strong feeling that part of the regrets that Karamatsu has from highschool is just the fact that he maybe wasn't a very good model of an older sibling, and that that inability to be reliable and relied on kind of contributed to his siblings dealing with things on their own and drifting apart
I also think that he blamed his timidity on him not giving off a reliable vibe, so that + the fact that he honestly liked and admires flashy people, pushed him to try to act more confidently + start offering his siblings help when he could
There's also the fact that he's sensitive and family oriented, he's got an empathetic side yknow. He wants to help in that way, but he'll settle for bringing you soda (dumbass). Like I know word of God said he likes thinking of himself as a nice guy, but I really think the Nice Guy™ is the image of cool reliable big bro he wants to project; at his core he IS kind, it gets obscured because he's become a tryhard and his tendency for grand dramatic gestures obscure a bit his honest intentions.
I like to contrast him with Osomatsu because funny enough I think that in hs he was super comfortable with himself (that never changes, as he says in the movie: "you'll always be who you are so just accept it") and I think that instinctually he just trusted that things would be okay after highschool.
At that age he probably still resented having the responsibility of being the eldest thrown onto him, being more interested in messing around, but even then I think his one on one relationship with his siblings was like 'ack everyone's moody but I can't wait to finish highschool and get to mess around with these guys freely'. His anxiety for the future just seems to be naturally low.
The argument I'm kind of trying to make here is that because Osomatsu understands himself and his brothers, he knew things were weird at home but it wasn't a source of anxiety to him.
Karamatsu by contrast was anxious, feeling unsupported by watching his siblings drift, and being an emotional person with not a lot of ways to vent his feelings regularly (seriously he had zero emotions processing skills)...
I think he felt uncomfortable on his own a lot of the time, not to mention uncomfortable in his skin, and seeing his brothers change without being able to ask them why? Yeah I don't think he had a good time, especially during his third year. Within his brothers be was a bit of an underdog but without them he barley even has a voice!
(WHICH IS WHY I THINK THAT DRAMA AND MUSIC AND EVEN FASHION BECOME SUCH THEMES FOR HIM. Mediums of self-expression!!! And it's ENCOURAGED in those circles!!! When he got the chance he probably felt great about it!! A weight off his shoulders and honestly fun)
(also why I think that drifting apart from Ichimatsu was painful for him. Ichi is also rather shy and sensitive, and like Karamatsu he hides it. Back in high school his coping mechanism of choice seems to have been social masking and TBF he does show that he's observant and good at reading people, but the downside is that by virtue of being a natural introvert, the constant monitoring and trying to conform to a social script, rather than being blunt as he can be with his brothers... Yeah
Kara and Ichi could probably communicate on a similar wavelength and they could breath around each other, like, they just understood each other well. When Ichi starts hanging out more with his friends (I think he genuinely liked them and Karamatsu is his brother anyway he's not going anywhere), he inadvertently put himself in a position that lead to burnout. Maybe he was a bit detached from himself and his emotional state back then.
(I feel like I'm so close to figuring out what their dynamic changes so drastically but it's eluding me. Something about him liking and needing straightforward people I guess, like Jyuchi and Oso are as adults, they may have agendas but their intentions are always crystal clear usually by default)
I'm rambling. I'm just trying to say that even if some of 18!Kara's timidity still lives inside of him, the same can be said the other way around for some of NEET!Kara's values being important to his high school self. It's messy development but it's good.
And the changing point where he decides to step up or at least stop letting his worries paralyze him, really might've been that fight, when everything exploded and he was probably left feeling like he watched a very slow train wreck happen and he just failed to do anything to keep it from happening .

I love the idea of Leo sorta bumming and softly singing under his breathe, too quiet for anyone to hear, but Hueso still hears anyways and is like "this boy hs talent wtf!?" and like... mayest it's something Leo is self conscious about? Like... he knows he has a good singing voice, his brother's mention it all the time when they sing (i.e. complain), and he's hardly one to get stage fright... but the idea of going up on stage without his brothers and belting it out for the whole world to hear kinds puts him off and Hueso somehow convinces him to jsut give it a chance
ANON YOU GET IT THIS ASK MADE MY HEART MELT like yeah!! As a teenager, Leo is constantly stuck thinking he’s nothing without his brothers, so he doesn’t try to do anything without them, and it’s a real shame!! Hueso recognizes that and wants him to come out of his shell (lol)!!!
Anyway take this drabble
...
It’s rare that Leo is ever quiet, as Hueso has painfully learned in his reluctant friendship with the teenager. He always wants to be heard, so he doesn’t give anyone the option but to listen to him. He jokes, he shouts, he complains, he argues, he cheers and so on and so forth, but Leo does not sing.
Despite this, he sees the boy with headphones fairly regularly, though he never wears them in the restaurant. He guesses Leo listens to music on his way to Run of the Mill, but prefers the music Hueso plays instead. It’s all Spanish music, stuff Hueso listened to as a child up until adulthood that he compiled into a four-hour long playlist that loops on different shuffles. With how often Leo comes in just to hang around, he probably knows the whole thing by heart, maybe even learned a few of them. So it’s inevitable he would catch an ear worm of a song, and it’s expected he’d sing it. What’s unusual is that he’s quiet about it, only humming or muttering quietly, barely loud enough to be heard.
Coming up to the table, Hueso frowns, catching only the last few seconds of the song as Leo quickly stops. He probably noticed him coming, but that doesn’t make it any less strange.
He wordlessly places a cup in front of the slider, keeping his eyes low and seemingly uninterested. “You never told me you could sing, Pepino.”
Leo’s eyes go wide, but he quickly covers it up with a forced laugh. “Oh, that?” he waves his hand dismissively, “just one of my many charms. You know I’m a talented guy.”
“Sí,” he continues, “I do know that. That’s why I’m surprised you haven’t shown it off to everyone you know yet.”
The compliment wrapped in a barely hidden accusation makes Leo smile nervously, pulling his soda close to take a sip much longer than needed. “You gotta admit, it’s not as impressive as opening portals with a sword,” he deflects as he puts his cup back down.
Fair, so Hueso nods, crossing his boney arms together. “You’re good,” he plainly states, making Leo uncharacteristically shy, “you should participate in Open Mic Night, you know they’re every Thursday.” Of course Leo knows that, he’s always here to watch the performances.
The turtle frantically shakes his head back and forth, laughing genuinely this time but no less anxiously. “Oh, no thank you señor, I’m sure everyone here gets their fill of me every night!” He pointedly looks over to the kitchen as it’s becoming obvious Hueso is only standing by to coax something out of him. “Don’t they need you in the back-”
“We get our fill of your jokes,” he clarifies, taking a seat at the edge of the booth, “but, I think it’d be a pleasant surprise to hear a different side of you, Pepino.”
This time Leo doesn’t laugh, or try to brush him off. He frowns, his masked brows furrowing together with a sort of frustrated, solemn look. It’s not often that Leo gets like this, but Hueso has noticed it only comes around when he’s without his brothers. He once told the skeleton he’s nothing without them (something Hueso doesn’t believe at all) and, unfortunately, it seems like he still sticks to that belief.]
“I don’t think anyone wants to hear me without my brothers,” he tries to joke, straining to smile, “I’d probably hog the spotlight from everyone! Might even hypnotize the audience like a siren.” Sighing dramatically, he hangs his head back, “it’s best I keep all this potential untapped. Who knows what horrors I could unleash upon the world?”
Hueso rolls his eyes and mentally scolds himself for expecting anything else out of the slider. With a quiet deep breath, he brings his hand to Leo’s shoulder, immediately shutting him up in surprise, not used to experiencing such affection from the skeleton.
“Mijo,” if it’s possible, Leo’s eyes widen even further, mouth falling agape, “you do not have to sing if you truly don’t want to, but I know you. You have a talent, you shouldn’t let your brothers hold you back.” He pauses thoughtfully, and adds, “or yourself.”
He slides out of the booth then, dusting his pants off from any crumbs he might’ve picked up and straightening his suit. “Just think about it, you might be surprised.”
“I’m already surprised,” Leo whispers in awe, no snark present in his voice. When he smiles this time, it’s a real one, the kind that fits his face the best. “Alright, I will. Thanks, Bone Man.”
Hueso nods, and turns around to head back to the kitchen, only to be stopped by Leo calling out for him again.
“Wait! One more thing!”
He curiously glances over his shoulder, waiting for him to continue.
“Can you send me the playlist for the music you play?” He asks with a child’s enthusiasm, “I need to have material if I’m going to take you up on that open mic night!”
Hueso snorts, and continues walking. “Sure thing, Pepino.”

HOMESTUCK AND STAR TREK? :O
oh baby this posts gonna be long
blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most)
HS: aradia and sollux. aradia is my favorite forever as my patron troll and sollux is just fun to draw because whys he look like that
ST: all the cardassians in general. garak is the best, im honestly more fascinated with andrew robinson himself and his dedication to the character. also damar who doesnt get much presence until later seasons and gets crushed by actually giving a fuck about his position. i took a shot of kanar (maple syrup) for his honor and it was agony.
dukat is excluded from this because he managed to curse the show into buffering on his face everytime i watched.
scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped)
HS: probably the beta kids before playing sburb. theyre all just little kids and best friends forever and it makes me tear up- in pesterquest dave literally talks about jade like shes his girlfriend that goes to a different school. all the kids were more than eager to see eachother in person and it sucks that it happened under the circumstances of.. homestuck
i dont have cuteness aggression for them theyve been through enough :-(
ST: in TNG's the enemy geordi helps out this genuinely pitiful romulan dude thats shaking like a chihuahua and i felt so much for that guy i wish he came back
scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave)
HS: i think people are finally past portraying kanaya as a nothingburger, it was kind of funny 10 years ago that people were falling into her flimsy veil of Perceived Normalcy, like she doesnt regularly bite her friends and wasnt unforgivably delulu about vriska when they were moirails.
truly underrated might be the felt? their designs tickle me
ST: damar? maybe hes got more content now idk. honorable mentions are: keiko obrien, worfs parents (my favorite tng ep), hugh, the cardassian scientists that hit on obrien that one time, lwaxana troi and keevan.
glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week)
HS: any of signless' crew. like. we got shafted so hard with the dancestors its crazy. in my wildest dreams psiioniic didnt get utterly crushed by the vast glub and somehow escaped at the ripe age of 2000 sweeps and is now overgrown and too old and ancient for his own good, squatting in solluxs hive. we didnt get much content about how signless did his recruiting- did he just do speeches and demonstrations? did he fuck nasty? i know for sure it wasnt the cringe dialogue they strapped kankri with. same goes for dolorosas life before she raised signless, she should be at the club.
ST: background vulcans. especially in TNG when they just stopped giving a fuck about them, thank god tuvok exists or i wouldve had no incentive at all to actually watch part of VOY.
poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave)
HS: equius. its really a special day when a character cant be quantified with a simple archetype like the rest of the trolls. theres something so deeply strange and wrong with him that its captivating, i chalk it up to being the horse guy in a insect body.
hussie also just like, had it out for him at day one. gamzee got beaten to a pulp narratively but equius didnt even get a chance. its sad, and im more interested in what he couldve been rather than someone like eridan or meenah.
ST: kai winn. shes literally an alien white woman and its fantastic. she did her role so good that the poor actress got hatemail, and her insidiousness is just so well done. the final season of ds9 isnt that good but it was fun to see her go off the rails with dukat.
horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason)
HS: what do i look like? hussie? in truth when it comes to being a flop i like seeing kanaya flounder. shes weird guys. she is so fucking weird and she doesnt really know because her friends are Weirder. we dont always need her to slay, atleast in my book.
ST: riker. no further notes
eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell)
HS: jake. if he has a deeper character i havent noticed because my eyes glaze over trying to read through this dialogue. he feels like a leftover shitpost character hussie couldnt fit on the dancestors. i havent reread act 6 yet, but i remember such a large chunk being some strange love triangle-square surrounding jake and i did Not Give a Fuck, and salt in the wound was dirk and janes friendship being so fantastic but overshadowed by jakes unceasing sex appeal cursing them.
ST: obrien because it was be a standard episode plot for him, i think hed come out fine

I know this is like a totally innocuous comment but I need you to know that my friends in highschool used to call me out on this regularly. I excel at getting attached to a character and analyzing them down to their bare bones, like I’m studying a bug under a microscope. It’s like my weird hidden talent XD
I did the same thing when I got into dragon age in HS. NEVER played any of the fucking games but I distinctly remember getting into a heated debate about the politics of the game during lunch because I read the wiki front to back lmao.
That reminds me of how me and a friend from high school used to have a discord server where we would rp as different characters depending on our current hyperfixation and that is how i found out i had a natural talent for roleplay because i was able to nail almost every character's personality and mannerism.
Tbh it probably helps that i usually picked my favourite characters that i have autistically studied and watched their scenes over and over again.

let’s   do   a   weird   headcanon   thing .
WHAT  THEY  SMELL  LIKE  :  pretty neutral. occasionally like gun oil. he never smells bad, unless you’ve just been fighting. he’s not picky about soaps. he just gets whatever’s available and buys in bulk. but he showers regularly & to an internal schedule (obviously.)
HOW  THEY  SLEEP  (  POSITION  ,  SCHEDULE  ,  ETC.  )  :   can sleep anywhere at a moment’s notice. on the ground, in the mud, during a hail storm or a shelling. if he needs sleep, he’ll get it. that said, he doesn’t sleep long, and he doesn’t sleep well. he’s hypervigilant, a light sleeper, & prone to nightmares. he’ll get 4-6 hours if he’s lucky. always makes his bed in the morning.
WHAT  MUSIC  THEY  ENJOY :      music that i don’t know much about. bruce springsteen. folk music. strong vocalists, strong messages. acoustic guitar. you get it. pretty sure he’s canonically also into wu-tang clan.
HOW  MUCH  TIME  THEY  SPEND  GETTING  READY  IN  THE  MORNING  :  not long. shower, shave, food. that’s it.
FAVORITE  THING  TO  COLLECT  :  he moves around too much to really hold onto anything. he keeps photographs of maria and the kids, but everything else is pretty much disposable. does not have the luxury of being able to collect knick knacks for fun.
LEFT  OR  RIGHT  HANDED  :   right handed. pretty proficient with both, but there’s definitely a preference.
FAVORITE  SPORT(S)  : probably played football in hs (he’s big). definitely watched (watches?) baseball.
FAVORITE  TOURIST-Y  THING  TO  DO  WHEN  TRAVELING  :  if he’s ever traveling, it’s not for fun. but because he is the way he is, he’ll sit by himself on a tourist bus/ferry and just mind his business. and, you know, think about his dead children.
FAVORITE  KIND  OF  WEATHER  :  he’s very utilitarian, so it doesn’t really bother him unless it’s overly hot or overly cold. doesn’t particularly like thunder (guess why).
WEIRD/OBSCURE  FEAR  THEY  HAVE  :  attachment that gets people killed. that’s pretty much the driving force of his entire character. he’s not scared of anything that can’t hurt him.
THE  CARNIVAL/ARCADE  GAME  THEY  ALWAYS  WIN  WITHOUT  FAIL  :  those games where you have to shoot balloons. buck hunting games. maybe the game where you hit something really hard with a hammer.

I totally see your point about needing to increase accessibility in all games, but also there's no game that it os without it's accessibility faults, nor is Build Mart the least accessible. There are ways to work around a colorblind member or nd member, you put them in a position they can avoid their disability in. A colorblind person could still easily be a runner, the color secrions are all labeled and everything else hs different textures. And if you make an nd person a more permanent builder then they don't need to memorize things. One of the best things about buildmart is how much communication is necessary. The people who excel at the game have very clear and concise communication systems set up to work quickly and efficiently. And as for games that a person can have disabilities thay make them unble to improve upon? Lets look back at those high anxiety games that were mentioned, Parkour Tag and Battle Box. There are also multiple creators with anxiety disorders who play and Grian for example has on multiple occasions expressed how overwhelming those 2 games are for him and it makes him unable to focus properly and his hands to get so sweaty he can't control his mouse properly. Thats not something can be trained, that's a result of that disability. So why aren't we calling for them to not be played or just nixxed entirely? And it's incredibly frustrating and sad and upsetting sometimes to watch because he gets so frustrated with himself for neing unable to do it. But I have seen little to no calls for those games to be canned. And while we're at it, what about Dodgebolt? Its a classic, we all love it, but again, talk about high anxiety. Poor Grian has literally hd a panic attack playing that game and yet, again, not a peep from the community to throw it out. This is all coming from the perspective of someone who hs both ADHD and an anxiety disorder, trust me I know how both can affect you and what things can and cannot be just trained. My point in all this is to say, is it really about inaccessibility, and if so, why aren't we advocating for better accessibility in other games too?
I feel like a major point is being missed. I gladly welcome discussions and call outs about inaccessibility, just because I'm only talking about one game doesn't mean that other games arent also putting certain people at a disadvantage.
Focusing on builtmart first
A colorblind person could still easily be a runner
Yes colorblind people can be runners but they're at more of a disadvantage than a non colorblind runner would be. Yes everything is labeled but having to slow down and take the time to read each color is slower than the quick glance around that someone else could take. An easier situation would be to place the colorblind player as a builder so they're closer to the builds, but still there's a issue with having to be within a specific range of the block in order to read its block label. Even then that's not fool proof bc in the instance like the Red Rabbits team with 3 colorblind players there would be at least one of them running or else there would only be one block runner for 3 builds
If you make an nd person a more prominent builder then they don't need to memorize things
Sure, but actually not really. They need to take inventory of their build, what blocks they need and how many plus how many they already have, and say they tell the runner what they need but the runner forgets and asks again the builder would need to take inventory again if they forgot.
I've watched dreams povs for buildmart several times, plus I watch his content regularly, he moves around a lot. Dream is constantly moving around and, while of course I don't know him or what strategy would work best for him, he probably wouldn't enjoy being a builder so putting him in that position might not be what he wants or feels most comfortable with.
One of the best things about buildmart is how much communication is necessary
It is and that makes it a great team game. But communication can be a huge road block for overloaded nd players especially considering communication only gets you so far when you forget what you've been told nearly immediately. Buildmart requires a lot of communication. I've watched buildmarts go smoothly and communication is a huge factor in that, but so is being able to remember what you were doing, where you were going, and managing inventory for several builds.
And as for games that a person can have disabilities that make them unable to be improved upon
I don't watch Grians pov for MCC so I didn't know about his anxiety playing Parkour Tag and Battle Box and I also don't know how often he practices those games or how often he talks with players that excel at that game.
As someone who also has anxiety I know that anxiety can be improved on for some people. I don't know what would help Grian or if that situation could be improved but as someone who does watch him what are somethings that you suggest that could help him?
I have hand tremors so my mouse sensitivity is pretty low, would practicing those games with a low mouse sensitivity aid in his difficulty? Would playing with people who could give him tips help lessen his anxiety? Are there ways to add to those games that would allow a player a bit more ease such as temporary immunity or requiring 2 hits to get tagged?
Like I said I think there's always room for improvement
So why aren't we calling for them to not be played or just nixxed entirely
You are welcome and encouraged to make posts bringing issues to light. Just because I made a post about the ableism of buildmart doesn't mean I don't think other games don't have their flaws. Also to mention I gave suggestions to improve buildmart, despite the fact I don't like it.
And it's incredibly frustrating and sad and upsetting to watch because he gets so frustrated with himself
That's exactly how I feel when George and Dream have to play buildmart, watching them beg for buildmart not to be played and then watching their morale crash and burn as they continue to get frustrated with buildmart. It is super upsetting to watch someone get frustrated with themself especially over things they can't control, which is why I'm calling out buildmart and offering suggestions for improvements.
Not a peep from the community to throw it out
So make a post about it! I'm a huge advocate for calling things out and bring light to subjects that are important to me.
My point in all of this is to say, is it really about inaccessibility, and if so, why aren't we advocating for better accessibility in other games too?
Yes it is about inaccessibility. I'm not talking about other games because I am talking about buildmart. You're welcome to ask me what I think about other games (I can't guarantee that I'd have very substantial things to say but you're welcome to ask).
Why aren't we advocating for improvements in other games? Well 1. because I wanted to talk about buildmart so I made a post about buildmart and 2. Why aren't you calling for improvements?
Anyone is allowed to call out games and put suggestions out there! Just because I made a post about one game doesn't mean you can't make posts about other games!

How You Can Study Best Minecraft Servers
The combat for the most affordable Xbox One S Black Friday deal all began due to a Lidl offer for an Xbox One S All Digital Console with three video games: Minecraft, Forza Horizon 3 and Sea Thieves for simply £129.99. It luggage you an Xbox One S that's all digital (that means there is not any disc drive and you'll only obtain video games on the Microsoft Retailer) ,console and controller and three digital video games: Minecraft, Sea Of Thieves, and Forza Horizon 3. Whilst Fortnite is not formally included in the bundle, you can still download it free of charge via the Microsoft Store. All of your games, saves and backups are stored safe and safe in cloud storage, so you'll be able to play your video games on any Xbox One. Notice: Most of the hyperlinks below are for the bodily copies of the games, bought by way of Amazon, Walmart, GameStop and different retailers. Give your neighbours a call, as many streets and villages are setting up WhatsApp groups. Whereas it is a highly regarded method for establishing your personal Minecraft Multiplayer server, we agree that it includes a bit of labor. At its most primary, meaning setting hourly alarms on your phone to make you rise up and stretch.
Cross-platform features would get a lift, too. Furthermore, among the finest parts of the sport is cross-platform playability. Use one of the strategies on this checklist to hyperlink up with other gamers-Realms is your greatest wager for a hassle-free experience. If so, eBay's providing of a 1TB Xbox One S All Digital console with Minecraft, Sea Of Thieves and Fortnite for less than £100 would possibly sound just like the deal of the decade. The next mods supply everything you need to completely automate virtually every facet of modded Minecraft, and work greatest at the side of a number of the deeper mods in the ultimate section. And do remember to help the Minecraft developers, as it’s their laborious work we're reaping the fruits of. If you’re actually feeling lousy, artificially intelligent assistants which are voice-activated, with minimal effort to work (Alexa, Amazon Echo, Siri) actually come into their very own. In case you missed out, you'll be happy to listen to eBay are restocking the bundle at 11am in the present day (November 29). But you may should be quick - once they’re bought out, they’re bought out.
Tesco's crown for having the most cost effective Xbox deal was nevertheless, short lived, because eBay has now introduced the very same bundle for under £99. I’ve been a science and technology reporter for greater than 35 years, and in that time I’ve witnessed nothing short of a revolution in the tech we use to attach to each other. Watch box sets at the same time as mates or family, and discuss it stay on WhatsApp. In addition to Netflix and Prime Instantaneous Video, house owners of the new box will be capable of access Sky Information, YouTube as well as music companies - Amazon Music, Spotify and TuneIn. Music streaming service Spotify notably complained to European Union regulators, saying that Apple's 30% commission and App Retailer rules breached EU competition legal guidelines. Download a video-calling app similar to Skype or FaceTime to your Computer or iPhone. When my dad was nonetheless with us, he regularly used the free video service Skype to speak to my daughter Rose, then working within the U.S. The Xbox One S All-Digital options a 1TB onerous drive, 4K Ultra HS decision for video recreation streaming and Excessive Dynamic Range so you may take pleasure in brilliant graphic particulars. It is not utterly clear how a lot inventory is on the market, but if you want to better your probabilities of netting one of those bargain video recreation consoles, heading down to your native Tesco and paying the extra tenner could be a safer alternative.
Tesco decided they needed a slice of the pie too, and revealed an even better deal. It might sound too good to be true, however this eBay Black Friday deal is for real, and the battle for the cheapest Xbox One S bundle among retailers is in full swing. Mundo's blog went stay at midnight and has already grow to be eBay's quickest promoting Black Friday deal with one bundle selling each two seconds. Simply remember that the 24-hour stores are closing at midnight tonight. There are lots of issues to do and get pleasure from with your colony, and the replay worth is unmatched. We’re bound to get bored watching the identical issues on telly. To get rid of stress it is best to must comply with some measures, which is followed by others as nicely. You will have the classic cops and robbers as well as duels and even a homicide mystery game. Have your mates connect as well. So whilst alternatives to see buddies (in person) dwindle, you needn’t be lonely. It’s heartening to see communities self-organising. But it’s the crudest ageism to suppose that solely the young can benefit from this brave new world. At all times. Common chat will scroll like a manic inventory-ticker that is investing in World of Warcraft comparisons, gamers will run round in a frantic state till they discover their guild-mommy, forest boars shall be camped without sympathy, and some dumb shmo will go with out sleep and ample nutrition for 86 straight hours till he hits the extent cap.

chapter five
❦ summary — The time for Princess Riley to step into her role as queen fast approaches and finding the future king is Cordonia’s top priority. Commander Liam is aware of that, and has plans to make sure the princess ends up with someone suitable.

Drake watches the shadows on his bedroom ceiling all night, mind racing too fast to even consider sleep.
Where had Commander Liam gone off to? What business did he have in that direction of the palace?
Who threatened Neville out of the competition? Was it just for show? Or was someone manipulating Riley?
By the time the morning light begins to burn his eyes, Drake's head is dizzy with worry for Riley. While eating a small breakfast, he regretted that he didn't go and check on her last night. The least he could have done was call or text her.
Drake stumbles back onto the bed, needing to give his eyes a rest before the day's festivities began. The vibration of his phone wakes him; it was Leo telling Drake that he wouldn't be around the palace today.
Drake texts back a reminder about Riley, but doesn't receive a reply.
Now, around noon, Drake opens the doors to his room, in a far corner of the palace where no one would pass through, and makes his way towards the main hall. His footsteps down the stairway are paired with the violent taps of rain on the palace, so loud that even the nobles' chit-chat becomes incomprehensible.
Warm beverages and fresh bread fill the hands of the nobility, the tips of their fingers barely covering their mouths filled with food as they talk.
In the center of the ballroom stands Riley, talking closely with Maxwell, with Commander Liam off to the side talking with Prince Alexander. The Prince munches on the buttered bread like it was the first meal he'd eaten in days, but the Commander respectfully pretends not to notice.
His regret for leaving her alone last night fills Drake's chest as he makes a beeline for the Princess, but a wave of red steps in his path.
"Where are you going, Walker?" Olivia asks, a steaming cup of tea in her hand.
He tries to go around her, but she steps in his way again.
"There's no reason to rush," Olivia states. "She's going to be speaking to all of her suitors this morning. You'll probably get your turn after Commander Liam."
Drake sharply inhales, staring at Olivia who proudly holds a smug smile. "What do you mean by that?"
"Is it not obvious?"
He stares her down, not wanting to voice the fear in his heart.
"You don't think I haven't noticed?" She rolls her eyes. "You're not her guard yet you follow her like a lost puppy. You're always the one rushing in front of the Commander to go see her when she's upset."
He shakes his head, trying to come up with a way to convince Olivia that her so-called evidence hs nothing to do with Drake's feelings for Riley.
Before he can protest, Commander Liam appears next to Olivia, who turns to him with a blush on her face.
"Commander!" she greets, her tone now lively and adoring. "I hope that you've been having a wonderful morning so far!"
"I have, thank you," he says, not even looking at her, but instead turning his full attention towards Drake. The Commander furrows his brows before continuing, "Do you happen to have heard anything about Neville's disappearance?"
For a moment, Drake's breath stops in his throat, unsure how he should answer. Thankfully, Olivia enthusiastically answers that she heard that he withdrew from the season.
"A pity," Liam states, exaggerated wrinkles voicing his concern on the issue, but the darkened eyes that stare into Drake tell him a different story. "He was telling me something about his business expenditures yesterday, and how it would aid the economy." Liam takes a breath and pushes his shoulders further back, his presence even more intimidating.
Her eyes still not removed from the Commander, Olivia suggests, "I can find someone who can help you contact him."
He finally turns to her with a smile, "That would be wonderful, Duchess."
The clicks of her heels sound her departure. While Liam and Olivia had a small moment, Drake had turned to see that Prince Alexander and Lady Hana had joined the conversation with Riley and Maxwell.
"Do you know how long Lord Maxwell has known Her Highness?"
Drake turns to face the Commander. "We've all known each other since we were kids."
"I see," he states with a smile. "I was simply asking because I overheard Duke Bertrand telling Lord Maxwell that he needed to put his friendship with the Princess aside if he wanted to win her hand."
A chuckle escapes Drake's lips. "Sounds like something Bertrand would say. But the man's right. It's a line that Maxwell would never cross..."
Drake pauses while he watches Maxwell throw his arm over Riley while they were both in a fit of laughter. The Princess does the same, but there's a respectful distance between the two of them; neither of them pulls the other one closer. Drake can see Bertrand from the corner of his eyes: the Duke narrows his eyes at the pair, ignoring the noble next to him.
"As is common of those who've had friendships since they were young." The Commander declares, though it hangs in the air like a question. Drake turns again to the man, hoping that he would continue.
"Not always," Drake states, unsure of whether or not he should have spoken.
The furrows return to the Commander's forehead. "But, like you said, there's a chance of ruining the friendship once one party introduces romance into the relationship."
"I didn't say that, I just meant—"
"My apologies for taking so long, Commander," Olivia says, rejoining the group. "None of my contacts have been able to reach out to Neville. Perhaps I can ask them again later—"
"No worries, Duchess," Liam consoles, though the shadow behind his eyes has not lifted. "If Neville does not wish to be contacted, so be it. I shall call you in for a favor another time." The Commander reaches for Olivia's hand, which she gladly offers, and gives it a gentle kiss before leaving the ballroom.
Olivia and Drake are left standing next to each other. Olivia's eyes follow Liam's every step as she reimagines the conversation she just had with him, while Drake considers that he might have to have a chat with Maxwell.

what's the best thing(s) you discovered in 2021? (as in, songs, bands, books, films, games, hobbies, etc)
Hm!!! This is a hard question bc 2021 felt like it lasted 80 years, but also like it Didn't Happen? But I will do my best
This isn't a discovery exactly but unequivocally the best thing that happened in 2021 is I started talking regularly to my high school bestfriend, One Of My Favorite People, and got to hang out with her in person the most I have since hs and It Fuckin Rules (@sweetheartblue MWAH)
Oh!!!! The best thing I actually discovered this year was!!!!! GODZILLA!!!!! I love him so much. I started watching a buncha different godzilla movies with uhh... with one of my fwbs? Lmao? And I Love One Lizard ❤❤❤❤ I've seen probably 15ish 'zillas now. Shin Godzilla, the Japanese stand-alone film from 2016 I think? is the Best One (and also by far the scariest) but my favorite so far is Godzilla vs. Ebirah The Horror Of The Deep, from 1966. My great ambition now is to run that one as an rpg campaign (and not tell anyone it's A Godzilla, since the Boy doesn't appear till like halfway through).
2021 was a hard year, I think for everybody, and for me in terms of health struggles and a big loss here at the end, but I am also extremely blessed to have had such good company throughout, including everybody who's ever sent me an ask or commented on my writing. Happy new year, everybody. Love you 🥰

I did speech and debate for a year in high school, a very rigid and structured format. Every year there’s like, a Topic, and everyone builds a case that they think will address the Central Problem, the year I was doing it the Topic was something like “The US Government should improve mental health care” which is certainly true, I spent a whole year arguing that the US Military should implement patient-psychotherapist confidentiality which it did not, at the time, have. Still might not, I didn’t actually like, learn to care about the issue, it was an entirely acedemic case to me, but I certainly haven’t continued to care about it since then. It was allegedly a solid case that year, but mostly me and my partner were assigned a mentor and they were running that case and could better advise us if we ran the same thing. It was one of the more common ones, it was called Jaffee after the court case that established patient-therapist confidentiality and we ran into it a lot of times too. You, roughly evenly, take turns arguing in the affirmative and the negative, so presenting a case and tearing one down, and so we also ran *against* the same case a lot of times too.
When you’re on the negative, one of your options for poking holes is to bring up procedural complaints, for instance a lot of times we would argue that the plan had a federalism problem, it did something that wasn’t *explicitly* granted to the federal government as something it could do. Did I believe that was a workable model? I really don’t know, but I sure argued it regularly because our mentor and some other members of the debate team prepared some stuff we could read to make those claims so we made em all right. One of the advantages of our case is that the rules governing the US military are pretty squarely in the domain of the US federal government and so we weren’t vulnerable to that particular complaint but of course we were open to others, none of which I remember. Another thing you could pair this with is to bring up your own solution to the problem that solves their problem but also avoids whatever you’ve brought up. This usually just involved having someone else do literally the exact same thing, so one of the most common counter plans was just to do the same thing but at the state level in all 50 states, which like, at face value is just obviously wildly impractical but as long as you read the cards that were prepared for you you fast enough none of that matters because the whole thing is based on theory not reality, reality is just what provides the mud to sling around.
But like, the other thing is that if you’re not prepared, an obviously bad argument can knock you on your ass. Our mentors never bothered preparing us for that Federalism charge against our plan because it was so self evidently not going to be used against us. So that meant that one time when we had a small tournament against a rival school, and one of their teams suggested that we had a federalism problem and the states should do our plan we got our asses kicked cause we did a bad job, in the moment, of coming up with compelling counterarguments to ‘do your plan but with every single national guard individually’ as if it would address the same set of people as our plan would. The judge was extremely annoyed at us, and said roughly ‘their arguments sucked but you didn’t counter them and now I have to vote for them you assholes.”
Which honestly, is fair thinking back, but it is also reminiscent of another case that we once watched get argued in the varsity semi(?)-finals of a big tournament where they were roughly arguing that we should improve mental healthcare by banning animal testing, which would improve the mental health of the animals. The varsity team they were facing was better prepared to think on the fly than we were, and had a compelling counterargument about how topical the case was as well as some specific problems I don’t remember anymore, but the affirmative team was equally prepared to counter those with charges of anthropocentrism because the topic didn’t say *human* mental health care. I don’t remember who won and who lost, but they took that case to a major (HS) tournament final rounds, which means they won at least three rounds with it. And like, as a thing to do it’s probably solid in many cases, honestly it’s not something I’ve looked into enough to have a strong opinion on either way, but it was also absolutely a case no one else was running that year, and being equally trained in the rules of debate the person who’s had more time to think will usually win.
Oh, and the other thing I learned was to talk really really fast because if you speed read all your points and you make enough that your opponent can’t address all of them then you win by default. All of this to say this is why some people think Ben Shapiro is smart.

daichi x female reader where they both had a crush on each other in hs but never let the other know (but everyone else knew heh). she didn't want to distract him from volleyball and he was scared she would reject him since a lot of other guys liked her. now they're both out of college and single and run into each other!
Daichi x Reader
an absolutely precious request!!! thanks for the idea and I hope you enjoy it uvu (i decided to make them freshman at university in this fic, just fyi)
a/n: aghh I love Daichi so much. the first words that come to mind when i think of him are “warm, genuine, and protective.” here’s some campus cuteness!! i tried to do a bulleted list, but got carried away and wrote a short one-shot heh <3
warnings: none, read freely!
wc: 1950
---
There are two kinds of people: Those who don’t fear rejection and those that do. Unfortunately, you and Daichi both fell into the latter category.
From the moment Daichi laid eyes you, he couldn’t take them off of you. The scrunched up face you make when you laugh, the empathetic glance you gifted someone with when they scored a bad grade on a test, and the sweet smile you would shoot his way if he ever caught your gaze.
It got his heart racing, bearing a side of him no one had seen before. It was an aching mixture of the protective feeling he got when furiously defending his team on the court and the overwhelming joy he drowned in after a volleyball victory.
Both fiery and vulnerable.
You on the other hand hadn’t noticed Daichi until your 2nd year.
Yeah, you were both in the same year, but your classes never seemed to match up so he didn’t stick out to you. Your infatuation with the boy truly began at a practice game against a guest team in the Karasuno gym. You’d only gone to appease a friend, but Daichi hooked you immediately. His voice deep, full of command and confidence. You so admired his ability to control the spirit of the court and it was thrilling to witness his powerful, fearless receives.
He’s also built. Just sayin.
The both of you were hooked on each other, but there were a couple of problems.
First, you knew how much he loved volleyball. The way his eyes lit up at the sight of the court would give anyone chills. You couldn’t bear to distract him even in the slightest with some kind of confession. It felt obvious that rejection would be in your future if you even tried to ask him out, something you would be nervous about even if volleyball weren’t an obstacle.
Second, the confidence that Daichi exuded on the court didn’t fully translate outside of it. He knew that so many guys were after you. You’re absolutely gorgeous, talented, and witty, able to make an entire class laugh. Traits that any guy would be lucky to find in a girl. So it wasn’t a surprise that half the team, half the school really, thought you were cute. Daichi wasn’t sure he could stand up to that. Even with Asahi and Sugawara’s attempts to convince Daichi that you definitely liked him back, he didn’t want to risk it.
“Daichi-san, what’s the worst that could happen?” Asahi pushes, “You do realize that she always cheers for your number right? She’s always looking your way in class and on the court.”
Sugawara huffs, “I would have asked her out myself if it weren’t for your stupid crush.” Daichi sends a sharp glare at Suga, making him snicker through his signature smile.
It was clear that the two of you had a crush on each other, but timing really is everything. Daichi had to focus on finding his confidence off the court. You needed your own wake up call: the freedom to make your feelings known without fearing the outcome.
---
Flash forward to your Freshman year at university. Spring brought cherry blossoms and fresh feelings, contrasting perfectly with the dreary Winter months you’d just escaped from. You wish you’d worn an extra layer, but you’re simply stuck with a thin, long sleeve shirt today. The 1st semester of college went by quickly, not leaving you much time to make friends or establish a social life in general, but you were determined to make the 2nd semester memorable.
You decided to join a study group that met regularly at the library. It’s pretty early in the new year, so you didn’t expect many people to show up, so you tried not to get your hopes up. The chilly air outside made you walk a little faster up the concrete stairs. Taking a deep breath to calm your heart rate, you reach for the grand wooden door to the library. Finding the meeting room wasn’t difficult, but what you didn’t expect was to be the only one there. So you wait a while, pulling out your books and holding out hope. You weren’t banking on any more surprises, but wow you’re about to be in for a real treat.
Daichi peers in through the door window to the meeting room only to see the back of a girl's head. He sighs, I’ve probably got the wrong room, but decides to check with her just in case.
He cracks open the door, “Excuse me, is this the… uhhh…” You turned your head toward the male, your (h/c) hair whipping around with it. Both of you do a bit of a double take, eyes widening in recognition.
“You- you’re Daichi, right?” You asked, your eyes bright with silent excitement and cheeks getting pinker by the second.
“Ah yeah, hey! Y/n?” He responds, scratching the back of his head with his own dimpled smile.
You smile wider at his remembrance, “That’s me!” You both turn to look around the room, unsure what to do next. You decide to add, “But apparently it’s just me,” you laugh a little, “I don’t think anyone’s gonna be showing up anytime soon either, sorry.”
“I don’t mind!” He says a bit too eagerly. “I mean, um. I was honestly just looking for someone to hangout with anyways.” He straightens up, doing his best to be honest about his appearance.
“Ah, me too actually. I had a long semester and I still don’t really… know anybody.” You tilt your head cutely, but you can’t help but sound a little down about it.
Daichi just nods in understanding. “It hasn’t exactly been eventful for me either. Sugawara and Asahi are both at different universities, so it’s odd not knowing anyone at all.” You sigh and nod back.
He takes a moment to think, face getting a little flushed at his idea. There’s a coffee shop a couple blocks off of campus… and judging by the lack of faces, there won’t be a meeting here today.
“Hey, y/n, would you want to maybe walk to get a coffee with me? My treat of course.” He offers while adjusting the sleeves of his black, fuzzy jacket, doing his best to hide any hint of nervousness in his voice.
Your heart starts to beat faster. It’s not a date. It’s not a date. It’s not a date… but wait it kinda is? I mean he’s paying?
You let yourself stare off for a moment too long without saying anything and Daichi puts a hand behind his head, with an apologetic look. “Hey, no worries if you don’t want to, just thought I’d offer. I feel like we might have some stuff in common.”
“No, no, I’d love to! Really. Just let me pack up my books and we can get going.” You turn to pack up your book bag, collecting the papers you let loose and gathering stray pens. Daichi waits patiently in the doorway, secretly freaking out a little that you actually want to go get coffee with him??
You both make your way out of the room, back out the door, and onto the brick path toward the cafe.
One look at you and Daichi can tell that you’re shivering from the biting wind chill. “Are you gonna be okay, y/n? You look cold.”
“A-ah no I’m okay, j- just kind of chilly.” Your teeth chatter through the entire sentence, all of your lying creds dropping way down.
Before you can stop him, Daichi is shaking off his big, cozy jacket, grabbing your book bag from you, and placing the coat over your shoulders.
It’s warm… and smells warm too? If warm and snug were a scent, it would be Daichi, you decide.
Meanwhile Daichi is doing his best to hide a smirk at how smooth that was. Thank you, wind god, he acknowledges soundlessly.
As you both make your way to the road, he stretches out his arm, offering you something to link your own arm onto.
You take it gratefully. You begin to relax as you fall into rhythm with his own footsteps and begin to make conversation.
“You know, I remember you pretty well. I would go to a lot of Karasuno’s games. You really are talented, Daichi.” He turns his head down toward you, his short black hair getting ruffled by the wind and a sweet grin forming on his face.
“I remember! You were kinda loud actually.” He chuckles and you elbow him gently followed by a feigned indignant, “Hey, rude!” Then joining him with a giggle that makes him go oh so soft.
“But really, y/n, you encouraged us… me, a whole lot back then. I really appreciated the support.” You flash him a grin, “That’s what I’m here for.” You reply.
Despite his nerves, Daichi feels brave for a moment, choosing to be honest, “Y’know I meant to speak to you more then. I just wasn’t sure how… something about highschool really screws with your head, y’know? It’s easy to get caught up in everyone else’s business.” He sighs, attempting to sound thoughtful, but he’s entirely focused on your response.
You look ahead, stepping up to the next crosswalk, making sure to watch your step before commenting.
“Same here. I really… just didn’t want to get in your way.” You explain.
He looks back down to you questioningly, inviting further comment.
“I can tell how much you loved the team.” You smile warmly, looking down at your feet as they hit the pavement. “And I loved watching how seriously you all took the games. I felt like I might’ve been intruding.”
“It’s not intrusive to start a conversation y’know.” You’re one to talk, he shoots back at himself.
You both approach the coffee shop, he lets you walk in first, taking the jacket off your shoulders as soon as y’all find a seat. He asks for your coffee order and walks up to order while you get comfortable at the shiny, wooden table. Cute atmosphere, white ceramic mugs, and a sweet date? This might just be my new place. You nod to yourself.
Daichi, looking really smart in a brown wool sweater and black jeans, makes his way back to the table with your and his coffee. Once he gets himself settled, you continue where you left off.
Coffee in hand, it was time to subtly shoot your shot.
“I didn’t start a conversation with you because I wanted you to be able to focus completely on what you love. Daichi, I really liked you. How could I get in the way of what you’re so passionate about?”
His mouth slightly agape, he lets himself get slightly flustered. Wow, she got to it before I did… wait a second??? She actually did... does like me? Am I an idiot?
“W-wait really?” He stammers, then attempts to compose himself.
“I mean, same here. I, uh, liked you a lot. I just thought you would find someone before I could say anything… and I… guess I didn’t want to totally shatter my ego.” He says candidly, placing a hand on the side of his flushed face, squishing it slightly.
You laugh a little at his honesty, but you’re blushing now too.
“So do you still, y’know- are you interested in making this a regular thing? I just want to get to know you better, really.” He expresses with a genuine sweetness you’d never encountered in a guy before. “I know it’s been awhile since then, but I think it’d be fun.”
“Yeah, let's take it slow, but I would love that.'' You gift him with your most charming smile, brushing a stray hair away from the front of your face.
“So tell me about more yourself…”

Btvs Headcanons:
Hc: You work in a store they frequent, meet them that way, and feelings develop. How each character would show you that they care about you/ask you on a date after getting to know them.
Edited to include Oz. [Jenny Calendar hc is separate here ]
Warning: one small mention of sex. and in one hc the store is a butchers
I thought this would be fun, maybe a little different than my usual. You can request some people that aren’t on here if you like. Or a different job or scenario where you would meet them.💜
Tumblr media
Spike:
- you work at a 24 hour store, he comes in at weird times of the night
- You catch Spike stealing and take pity on him, letting it slide (he looks a bit gaunt, maybe he’s not eating properly)
- There’s no cameras the place you work is crappy so you maintain eye contact and just nod at him, allowing him to take whatever it is he’s concealed under his leather duster
- He’d start to come in and either blatantly steal so you would catch him and talk to him or buy lots of stuff he didn’t need with money he had ‘borrowed’ from one of the scoobies
- He talks a lot and appears to be trying to impress you, it makes you smile
- But also he’s very attentive to you and asks you things about yourself, wanting to learn everything he can
- He starts waiting for you, watching through the glass, going through whole packs of cigarettes making sure you’re okay and no customers are being nasty
- He will come in and threaten to drain them dry if they say one more horrible thing to you, it’s happened twice
- He follows you home before eventually offering to walk with you
- He’ll probably bottle all of his feelings up for a long time, professing his love in a very heartfelt speech and crashing his lips to yours before actually asking you on a date
Angel:
(I’m so sorry if you don’t eat meat)
- You work at the butchers and Angel used to come in all the time really early before the sun rose
- You were embarrassed such an attractive man saw you in your overalls smelling of raw meat
- Too embarrassed to ask yourself why he wanted so much animal blood
- You soon had his regular order ready and waiting for him, he always seemed to be in a rush. This meant there was a little time for you to talk because he already had his order
- You instigated, asking him lots of questions with you getting one word answers (you think he’s not interested and stop)
- But he’s just trying to keep his distance, he knows what happens when he gets too involved. Things seem to go wrong
- He eventually bumps into you after work one evening, not able to stay away completely
- You work long hours so he’s trying to make sure you’re getting home okay by hanging back in the shadows
- Eventually starts to offer to walk you and you happily agree, chatting nonstop about the delivery or what you were taught that day about slicing into something
- He enjoys just hearing you talk, not able to help smiling at the way you animatedly recount your day to him, eventually one day he’ll offer for you to visit his place making a date out of it
Xander:
- you probably work with him, one of the many jobs he took on after high school
- you both work at a pizza place, he delivers you make the orders
- he acts really weird around you at first, dropping things and stumbling over his words when he speaks to you
- he cracks some childish jokes but you laugh along with him, finding him sweet
- he grins wide when you start to joke back, pulling funny faces behind the manager’s back when it’s turned
- He’ll be thinking of asking you on a date for a really long time, probably since he first met you
- He’s nervous and he doesn’t want you laughing in his face, he probably doesn’t think he has a shot with someone as great as you
- But he just rushes out and says it one night when you’re both grabbing your jackets to leave
- You smile, scan his face to check he’s joking, then nod and say you’d love to
- You go to the Bronze, have a contest to see who can catch the most peanuts in your mouth (if you’re allergic, it’s some other competition, maybe who can finish their drink the fastest)
- He might let you win and then just lean straight in and kiss you when you celebrate
Buffy:
- Buffy comes into the late night store you work at for gum or snacks (something she can carry while she patrols) she recognises you as her regular cashier after a few months.
- I feel like she has a lot on her plate, forgive her for not noticing you straight away
- She’s probs trying to get over someone atm or struggling to trust after her last relationship
- You’re extra friendly with her and she realises after talking it over with Willow that you were actually flirting
- Realises the brief interaction she gets with you makes her feel happy. Real happy and she doesn’t have to be responsible for anyone but herself when she’s chatting away with you
- Starts to ask you questions about yourself enjoying your company. Every time without fail she asks when you get off work, she’s concerned you’re always walking home in the dark
- starts to loop back past your store when she’s on patrol, pretending she was still in the area when you got off
- offering to walk you home a lot, accidentally dropping a pile of weapons once and having to pretend she was doing a woodworking class
- she eventually asks you on a date, encouraged by her friends to make the first move, and you’ll go to the Bronze, dancing and laughing the whole time
Faith:
- you work at the convenience store near the Mayor’s office
- She comes in on her way back to her crappy motel
- she feels a bit conflicted about sneaking around behind Buffy’s back but your bright smile to greet her almost makes her forget
- you caught her eye pretty much the first time she saw you waiting by the register
- she usually asks for some smokes and started to offer to share one with you on your break
- if you smoke, you say yes, if you don’t you say you’ll still come outside with her on your break to keep her company
- you’ll mostly talk with her chipping in at first and then she finds out how good it is to vent to someone
- your break’s over but you tell her you don’t want her to be on her own struggling through her thoughts
- you ask if she can wait, but she doesn’t really do waiting around
- she does give you the address to the motel she’s staying at though and she’ll smoke every hour until she sees you walking
- this is your first date, the one you count as your first date anyway
- you spend the whole night talking, sometimes even laughing. You make her feel like a person, not just a Slayer
Cordy:
- you work at the mall. Specifically a boutique or somewhere Cordy regularly visits
- she’s kind to you but a bit abrupt if you start talking about anything that isn’t a sale
- her dad no longer has any money and she’s a struggling actress after hs and you overhear her phone conversation about how hard everything is
- she wants this pretty dress that you know she’d look beautiful in
- you offer her your employee discount, telling her to keep it quiet
- after that, she specifically requests you and after her fifth visit realises she has been coming and looking forward to seeing you more than the dresses
- this means she’s in deep
- she won’t beat around the bush, she’ll ask you if you won’t ask her
- “Bronze. 8pm” with a little wink, hauling her shopping bags with her before leaving
- You have a great time and you meet up again she does little fashion shows for you before you go out, liking your eye for fashion and asks you to help her choose outfits for your dates
- She’ll want to go public places for dates to show off your relationship
Giles:
- Book store (obviously)
- You’re the most knowledgeable about his particular interest (cough, demons, cough) and he is attracted straight away to your apparent intelligence
- You already know about demons and everything, having studied it extensively as well as running into a vampire late one night and managing to get away unscathed
- He marvelled at this and you tell it so casually, explaining that you just did what the books told you and put it in practice
- He’s lonely really, always hanging around people a lot younger that don’t take him as seriously as he takes himself, but you do
- You think he’s fun to be around, he probably doesn’t wait too long, asking you for a drink the first or second time he meets you.
- He knows life’s too short, especially in Sunnydale
- You appreciate his dry humour and the way he isn’t just bookish, he has a lot of really great qualities
- You haven’t seen him as Ripper, but you know it’s there. He’s open with you and he’ll tell you about his past. He believes in trust
- You go on a lot of dates after that first drink, you even get introduced to the Scoobies and become a kind of parent figure too
Riley Finn:
- you bag his groceries at the supermarket.
- He’s always polite, makes you feel like a human being not just somebody serving him
- Always chats about the weather or something generic that won’t compromise his job, but he likes talking to you
- He occasionally makes a comment to make you smile because seeing your real smile, not the one you put on for customers, is so much sweeter
- He’ll probably come in regularly, same time, same day every week for his shopping now (bc you’re there)
- Bumps into you accidentally while you’re stocking a shelf and helps you pick everything up, smiling at the way you get a little flustered, insisting it was his fault not yours
- He’ll probably ask you if you’ve ever heard of the Bronze, which of course you have because that’s the only half-decent place in town
- Says he’d really like to see you there, like maybe tonight, so you go and have a really great time
- He says he doesn’t want to wait to see you again, but he’s very respectful will probably give you his number so that you can call him first and you don’t feel pressured into a second date or anything
Willow:
- You work at a magic shop
- you help her find the ingredients to a spell she’s been itching to try and give her little tips
- She really likes that you know lots about magic and what ingredient you could swap out for a better result
- You’ll grow close, she’ll pop in and tell you how well/badly the latest spells went
- She’ll tell stories in her characteristic way and you’ll smile at how cute she is and her fun vocabulary you’ll find yourself picking up
- You’ll offer to meet her and help her out with some spells
- She’ll bounce off the walls in excitement
- Probably spend the whole day making sure her dorm room is ‘just right’ for you to see and that she’s made sure about ten times that Buffy is definitely going to be out
- You’ll do the spell, it’ll be a big success because working together shows you that you have this amazing connection
- Then you’ll be talking and sharing loads for hours
- She’ll take you to the Bronze if it’s not too late, if it’s too late she’ll ask what you’re doing at the weekend and invite you then
Tara:
- Also at a magic shop. Probably specifically the Magic Box, after Giles takes it on
- You’re a Scooby and Tara’s moved to Sunnydale for college. She wanted to check out the magic box straight away
- You catch each other’s eye and she looks a little shy
- Starts to stutter when you make conversation, but you’re patient with her, giving her time to finish her words that have become jumbled in your presence.
- She asks for help with finding something only when she absolutely has to, but you’re always kind with her when she does and she smiles so bright when she finds what she’s looking for, scrunching her mouth to the side a little when she looks back at you
- You start to recommend places in Sunnydale for her to check out, trying to gauge if she would be into you or not. You eventually offer to take her and show her around and she nods excitedly
- You both have a really great time and she makes you feel special. She talks a lot more now she’s comfortable with you
- you suggest you could try some magic together, only if she wanted
- She does, you meet up a lot and you date and magically create a cat to own together
- You both have a long, happy life together
Anya:
- You work in the magic box with her. I feel like you both didn’t get on at first
- you didn’t understand her and she felt misunderstood, making her snappy and blunt with you
- eventually, you started to understand she needed a bit of time and you explained yourself more. Why you were doing things, being patient with her and fully giving her everything you could to help her understand the reasoning
- she really appreciated it, nobody ever did this for her without some level of teasing
- she explains about being an ex-vengeance demon. You can’t say you’re shocked (you live in Sunnydale and work in the magic box)
- you were patient with her and she quickly asked if you could start having sex trying to plan out your relationship
- you told her you would rather get to know her first, especially considering you worked together (leading to a chat about workplace relationships going wrong, which leads to an anecdote about her knowing this because of her vengeance days)
- but the feelings were undeniable and you started dating very quickly
- she’ll probably start dropping hints about marriage or the equivalent very soon too
Oz
- you work at a record store.
- He comes in pretty regularly, but he doesn’t really say much
- Not until you notice a record he’s holding and start to gush about it
- Your manager told you to talk to customers and encourage them to buy more, but this wasn’t that. And he could tell
- He loved your enthusiasm and he wanted to get to know you
- You caught his eye probably one of the first times he saw you working behind the counter, humming to a song which happened to be one of his favourites
- He just knew then that he wanted to date you
- whispering, “who are they?” but to himself because he always come into the store alone (he wants the experience, just him and the music… and maybe a glance or two at you)
-  He might bring some fliers in one day, asking if the store will put them up, advertising Dingoes’ latest gig
- He’ll say you could come, if you want, with a characteristic shrug
- And you’ll obviously say yes and he likes how excitable you are, you contrast with his chill vibe
-  And you go and have a great time
- then you talk after, telling him how cool his band is
- You’ll hit it off, finding his phrasing and humour endearing. He’ll gift you a guitar pick from your first sort of date. He’s a romantic
- You’ll mostly come to wherever he’s playing and have a date after
-  he’s very sweet, very caring. Always offers to take you somewhere else for a date but you insist on supporting him and getting a drink after
- won’t be much of a talker, but you will always feel loved by him
