When Dostoevsky wrote "I want to talk about everything with at least one person as I talk about things with myself"
and Ishikawa Takuboku wrote "just for once i want a love that feels like plunging my flushed cheeks into deep soft snow.”
and Warsan Shire wrote "Mother says there are locked rooms inside all women; kitchen of lust, bedroom of grief, bathroom of apathy. Sometimes, the men - they come with keys, and sometimes, the men - they come with hammers"

10. What was your favorite new release of the year?
i did not read any new releases from this year lol <3 unless we're counting fanfic? i'll count fanfic just so i actually have an answer for the question and say (in approximately reverse chronological order of me reading them):

bury a friend by theinvisiblemuseum (@theinvisiblemuseum)
sober thoughts by moonymoment + zeppazariel (@mayescapade + @mayzarbewithyou) though i DID gnash my teeth over the amount of gaming metaphors. Unforgivable Sin.

o meu sozinho
My alone feels so good, I'll only have you if you’re sweeter than my solitude.
Sim.

you can't make homes out of human beings someone should have already told you that
and if he wants to leave
then let him leave
you are terrifying
and strange and beautiful
something not everyone knows how to love.
from warson shire’s for women who are ‘difficult’ to love (2017)

Dear Moon.
We blame you for floods
for the flush of blood
for men who are also wolves
and even though you could pull
the tide in by its hair
we tell people that we walked all
over you
we blame you for the night
for the dark
for the ghosts
you cold unimaginable thing
following us home,
we use you
to see each others frail
naked bodies beneath your blue light,
we let you watch; you
swollen against the glass
breath a halo of steam
as we move against one another
wet and desperate
like fish under
a waterlogged sky
