Palestine advocates on Wednesday slammed the Biden administration as it pushes Congress to approve the sale of $18 billion worth of F-15 fighter jets to Israel, despite public pronouncements of anger over ongoing Israeli atrocities in Gaza and a federal ban on the U.S. arms transfers to human rights violators.
The New York Times reported that the U.S. State Department has informally asked two congressional committees to begin the legislative review process for the deal, which involves the sale of as many as 50 McDonnell Douglas F-15 fighters to Israel, as well as munitions, training, and other support.
The proposed deal—which would be one of the largest and most lucrative arms sales to Israel in years—comes amid Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza, during which more than 115,000 Palestinians have been killed, maimed, or are missing and presumed dead.
The planned sale also comes amid growing frustration among Biden administration officials over what President Joe Biden called Israel's "indiscriminate bombing" of Gaza. On Tuesday, Biden said he was "outraged" and "heartbroken" by Israel's airstrike targeting a World Central Kitchen convoy that killed seven humanitarian aid workers, including one U.S. citizen. Biden acknowledged that the attack was "not a stand-alone incident" while asserting that Israel has "not done enough" to protect Palestinian civilians.
"Does anyone wonder why Netanyahu ignores Biden's pleas for restraint in Gaza? Netanyahu sees them as empty words because, as Israel is bombing and starving Palestinian civilians, Biden still wants to sell it $18 billion of F-15 fighter jets," former Human Rights Watch executive director Kenneth Roth said Wednesday, referring to right-wing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The U.S. Senate has approved a $95 billion foreign aid package that includes $14 billion in military funding to Israel, despite the finding by the International Court of Justice that it is plausible Israel has committed acts of genocide in Gaza. The Senate bill passed on a 70-29 vote, though its fate remains uncertain in the Republican-controlled House, where Speaker Mike Johnson is demanding the inclusion of new anti-immigrant and border enforcement measures before scheduling a vote. William Hartung, a national security and foreign policy expert at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, says the massive spending package’s main effect would be “to ship weapons overseas into war zones,” noting that lawmakers rarely show the same urgency when it comes to issues like poverty or the climate crisis. “We’re putting the bulk of our resources into implements of war.”

The Dangerous Anti-war Protester
THE TRUTH ABOUT WAR
We’re fighting for the Truth.
We’re fighting nail and tooth.
We’re fighting for what’s right.
Our fight’s a bloody sight.
We hope that when we’re through,
The world will know what’s true!
DIRECTOR OF HUMAN SUFFERING JUSTIFIABLE WAR DEPARTMENT
THE BEDRAGGLED BANNER
Oh say, is this, sir,
Bush’s New World Order?
While the oil wells burn,
All the Shi’ites we’re spurning.
And the Kurds running scared
From bombs bursting in air
Give proof through the night
That Saddam is still there.
And say, does that bedraggled banner yet wave
O’er the hordes of refugees in their unsafe enclave?
In 1991 after “winning” Operation Desert Storm, the American generals allowed Saddam Hussein to stay in power, gave him back his army, and even allowed Saddam’s military to keep helicopters fitted with machine guns. The U.S. then encouraged the Shi’ites to rise up and overthrow Saddam and that we’d help them, then the American troops were ordered not to interfere while Saddam’s troops massacred the Shi’ites.
ATOM BOMB
Easy to use.
Deadly to enemies.
A steady income for war profiteers.
Approved for countries we approve of.
Gives any nation international recognition and respect.

The national organization Veterans For Peace is demanding that the Biden administration abide by U.S. law regarding the illegal possession of unregulated nuclear weapons and halt all military aid to Israel.
In a letter to President Joe Biden and top members of his administration, Veterans For Peace asserts that U.S. law requires the cutoff of all military aid to Israel because it possesses nuclear weapons in noncompliance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Israel does not admit it possesses nuclear weapons, has not signed the NPT, and does not allow inspections of its nuclear arsenal.
The letter lists multiple credible reports that Israel has possessed nuclear weapons for decades. Because Israel has not signed the NPT, the Symington-Glenn Amendments to the International Security Assistance and Arms Export Control Act of 1976, which allow no presidential discretion, require the suspension of all military aid.

cool idea for a war god
how has no one ever thought about a more modern war god that goes beyond either the stereotypical warrior and general, but literally one that feeds off the military industrial complex? Like, shit, war-profiteering should be its own kind of war god, that'd be sick.
