One Year Later
Y/N hums to the song playing in her car as she drives up to the newly renovated Hale house—technically it's Derek's and her house, but she likes just calling the Hale house. Derek planned on renovating the house himself with a few of the other pack members but he ended up renovating with pack members and the Avengers.
Tony wanted to use his money to pay a team to renovate the house as quickly as possible, but Derek wanted to be a part of the renovation considering it was his house. He also didn't feel comfortable with Tony paying for everything. They ended up compromising by letting Tony pay for half but they had to renovate it themselves.
Derek was surprised the first day Tony showed up with a few more Avengers in tow. He couldn't say he was very pleased seeing them either. He was hoping to renovate the house in peace with the occasional forced conversation between himself and Tony or ordering the pack to do a few things. He was even more surprised when he didn't hate them being there. It was a pretty good way to get to know Y/N's other family.
It was also a good way for Y/N to get to know her Avengers family. Although Tony built another Avenger's headquarters just outside of Beacon Hills to be closer to her, she still had a job she had to go to and they weren't her only family. Tony offered her jobs with the Avengers multiple times but she turned them down every time. He even offered her a position to be a part of the Avengers but she wanted to work on controlling her powers before she potentially used them to save people from aliens or whatever else they fight.
Three times a week Y/N would drive up to the house to help out—well, her version of helping out. She let Derek and Tony handle all electrical and plumbing details while she sat to the side and talked about her day or gossiped about people from work. She also helped Steve, Bucky, and Sam make a few furniture pieces by watching them do all the hard work and then adding any details she wanted on them, such as paint or accessories.
Pack members would also come by to help tear things down or build things up. None of them knew what they were doing but Derek would teach them and everything turned out okay. Stiles was like Y/N and didn't do much to help but he would be there. He and Peter grew closer as Y/N's brothers and found out they actually have a lot in common. It took them a few weeks, but they eventually stopped being passive-aggressive to each other and became friends—but they still bicker like an old married couple.
Once rooms were built, she, Lydia, Kira, Wanda, and Nat would paint the rooms and go out and buy things for them. They've definitely come back from a shopping trip or two with too many things but Derek can't complain when he sees how happy Y/N is.
He also can't complain when his business is thriving so money is not an issue. It wasn't an issue before—thanks to the money he inherited from his family—but now he doesn't think it will ever be an issue. Since he's dating 'the Y/N Stark,' people like to drive out of their way just to bring their cars to Hale Garage in hopes of possibly meeting him or getting a glimpse of Y/N.
He also started restoring old cars and motorcycles and selling them. It started with a few motorcycles someone abandoned in front of the garage and now he's selling vintage cars in big shows all over the state.
He has also somehow gotten a little fandom of his own. He has no idea how because he doesn't have any social media nor does he willingly put himself in the public eye. He can always tell if someone specifically requests for him at the garage if they're doing it because of his relationship with Y/N or if it's just because of him.
If it's because of him, there is typically a nervous client, possible flirting, and giddy giggles and conversations with their friends when they think he can't hear them. Someone even asked him out once but he shot that down very quickly. That client won't be coming back anytime soon—especially since Malia overheard the whole thing and started laughing so hard she almost fell out of her chair.
On days that Y/N wasn't at the Hale house, she liked to spend her time with her other dad—the sheriff. She knows he wishes he could've also contributed to the rebuilding of the house. He just didn't have the means financially nor the time to help. On top of his regular sheriff duties, there was a lot of paperwork and stress that came after the big fight against Kate and the Hunters.
On nights that he worked late, she'd bring him dinner and talk about their days. On nights he wasn't working, he'd go by the loft to have dinner with her, Derek, and Stiles. Tony and Peter would sometimes join but they didn't want to intrude too much. Tony could tell that he made the sheriff a bit uncomfortable due to who he was but he never said anything to him. They got along but they weren't going to be best friends any time soon.
She's spoken to some of the other Avengers, like Clint and Thor, but she doesn't see them very much. She's only met Clint a handful of times because he likes to keep to himself on his farm. The most time she's spent with him was when she and Derek stayed at his farm for a weekend as a little get-to-know-you thing. They had a lot of fun, and they text now and then, but it's nothing too serious.
She also doesn't see Thor much since he spends most of his time on Asgard—she's also pretty sure he avoids her as much as possible. He still blames himself for the night she was 'taken' by Hydra even though she has told him multiple times that it's not his fault—Pepper would've still done what she did whether he took her to bed or not.
As Y/N drives past the new gates at the front of the property, she can see several cars parked outside of the Hale House. She smiles a bit to herself as she realizes what's going on. Pulling in front of the house and getting out of the car, she can hear people on the other side of the house. Walking through the house and to the backyard, she steps back outside to all of her friends and family setting up tables and birthday decorations.
"Spiderboy, lift the right side of the banner a bit while you're up there! It's a bit unev–hey! Happy Birthday!" Stiles awkwardly shouts as he notices her. Everyone turns to Stiles before shouting 'Happy birthday' at the sight of Y/N standing near the backdoor.
"Why are you home so early?" Derek asks, walking up to Y/N and trying to block her from looking at the scene behind him.
"I'm happy to see you too, babe," Y/N playfully rolls her eyes before giving Derek a quick peck on the lips. "My boss let me leave early since it's my birthday. Well, second birthday, but she understood."
"I still don't understand why you didn't just take the day off."
"That's because I used up my vacation days putting in time off for our little vacation in about a week. I'd much rather take time off to spend two weeks naked on the private island we're going to then have a few free hours this morning." She can hear some of the people behind Derek pretending to gag letting her know that they're listening in on their conversation.
She squeals and laughs as Derek bends down and throws her over his shoulder. Walking into the house, Derek lightly slaps her ass as he walks her up to their bedroom. Entering their shared bedroom, he throws her onto the bed before hovering over her and staring lovingly into her eyes.
"Why are you throwing me another birthday party? You already threw me one on my April birthday." Y/N questions. Not only did she gain another family, but she also gained another birthday. She has the birthday she celebrates which marks the day she arrived at the Stilinskis and now the birthday she was with the Avengers.
"I'm not the one who planned this. This is all on Tony. I also think this might be more for them than it is for you since it's the first time they get to celebrate today with you." Derek says. The only thing Derek did was reel Tony in. Tony wanted to throw a massive party and invite as many people as possible but he knew that would be way too much for Y/N. He knew she'd like something at home with her friends and family. "Now, I need you to change out of your work clothes and I'm going to go back downstairs and see why in a group of superhumans and wolves, no one heard you get here."
"You didn't hear me either," She teases.
"That's because I was trying to be a good son-in-law and listen to your dad tell me about a new case he's working on. He wanted my advice."
"Son-in-law?"
"Mhm, now get dressed and try to act surprised when you come back downstairs," He leans down to press a kiss on her cheek before standing and walking toward their bedroom door.
"I'll try!" She yells as he walks out of the room.
Y/N gets up from the bed and walks to her closet. Stripping out of her work clothes, she changes into something a little nicer. Walking out of the closet, she touches up her hair and makeup before walking downstairs toward the party.
Opening the backdoor, her family and friends all turn to her and yell, "Happy Birthday!"
"Oh my god! I had no idea!" She feigns shock.
"Shut up," Lydia rolls her eyes before pulling Y/N into a hug. "Happy Birthday and make sure to open my present first."
One by one Y/N goes around greeting everyone and thanking them for the party. She's not sure whose idea it was but she'll ask Derek after everyone leaves.
"Nice to see you two again. What has it been? A week?" Y/N teases, walking up to Steve and Bucky.
"A week too long," Bucky teases back, pulling her into a hug.
"And you leave in a week too," Steve says, pulling her out of Bucky's arms and into his own.
"Yes, well then we'll have to have another game night before we leave," She smiles up at him. After they got to know each other a bit while working on the house, she and Derek would invite Steve and Bucky over once a week for a game night. Sometimes they don't even play games, sometimes they'll just work on a puzzle and talk.
It's helped her a lot speaking to someone who has also had personal experience with Hydra. While she can't remember every single thing that happened to her there, she sometimes gets dreams—no, nightmares—that seem more like memories.
It's also helped her become a lot closer to them, as well as them becoming closer to Derek. She knows that they sometimes meet up with some of the other wolves to go for runs through the forest. They've even been to a few car shows with him.
"We're holding you to that," Bucky says.
"Well, Uncle Bucky, Uncle Steve, thank you for being here but I've got more people to go around and thank so I will talk with you some more later," Steve and Bucky's smiles get impossibly wider at her calling them her uncles. It's something that started two months ago and they get happier every time she says it.
Walking over to Scott and Liam, she pulls them both into a tight group hug, "Thank you both for being here. I'm sure you have better things to do with your day."
"Not really," Liam groans, pushing Y/N away from him.
"Do you really think Stiles would let us not be here?" Scott asks, pulling away from Y/N.
"I feel so loved," Y/N pushes Scott in a teasing manner. "Now I'm going to talk to some more people and if I look over here that means I need you to rescue me."
She pats them both on the back before moving over to Natasha, Wanda, Bruce, and Sam.
"Happy birthday future falcon," Sam says, pulling Y/N into a hug.
"Future falcon?"
"Yeah, we just need to get you a pair of wings and you can be just like your favorite uncle!"
"I don't think getting me a pair of wings will make me just like Bucky," Y/N teases, smirking at the look of shock on Sam's face.
"You take that back."
"I'm going to pretend that you just said my name instead," Bruce says.
"Even if you were her favorite uncle, why would she want to be like you when she could be like her favorite aunt?" Natasha smirks, pointing to herself.
"And you think that's you?" Wanda asks.
"Who else would it be?"
The smile on Y/N's face never leaves as she watches them bicker back and forth about who's her favorite aunt and uncle. Honestly, she doesn't have a favorite. She's definitely closer to some than others but she could never tell you who she'd consider her favorite.
Natasha has been teaching her some more hand-to-hand combat as well as how to use a gun. She can't say that using a gun is her favorite thing to do—especially since she's been shot several times by them—but it's nice to know if she ever needs to use one as a last resort.
Wanda has been helping her learn how to control her powers—even though Wanda isn't in the most control either. She's also been working with Stiles to awaken the magic within him. He can't do a lot just yet but Wanda thinks he could be really powerful one day.
With Sam, he helped a lot with the renovations and he likes to bring Y/N lunch at work at least twice a week—he even brings Melissa lunch from time to time. He will bring her lunch and they'll talk about what's going on in their lives or get into heated debates about their favorite shows. They once spent her entire lunch arguing about who's the better Winchester brother.
Y/N's probably the least close to Bruce—he's actually closer to Lydia than her. The work that he does really fascinates Lydia and she ended up getting an internship with the Avengers to work with him. Y/N will sometimes tag along when they are working on things outside of things for the Avengers, like hospitals. She doesn't understand everything like they do but it's nice to at least spend time with them.
"Right Y/N?" Sam's voice pulls her out of her head.
"Um...right?" Y/N looks between them with a confused look on her face.
"Were you even listening?" Natasha asks.
"Um, what's that? I think someone's calling for me." Y/N turns around and quickly walks away from them before they can say anything.
"Y/N, will you tell Stiles that there is no such thing as mermaids?!" Y/N looks over to where Peter is calling for her. He's standing next to Stiles while Derek is sitting on a wooden table next to them with his feet propped up on a chair and an annoyed look on his face.
"Y/N, will you please tell Spideyboy here that mermaids exist?! If werewolves and aliens exist, then so do mermaids!" Stiles yells.
Y/N walks over to them and sits on the table next to Derek, "Why are we fighting about mermaids?"
"They started talking about vampires and somehow the conversation turned into this," Derek says.
"What do you think Derek? Mermaids, real or not?" Stiles asks, annoyed that Peter thinks he knows supernatural creatures better than him.
"Why don't you go to the ocean and find out?"
"Y/N?"
"I'd like to believe there are," Y/N says.
"Not you too," Peter groans.
"What? After watching H2O as a kid, my biggest dream was to become a mermaid. You're not a scary monster if you're a mermaid."
"Damn, now I feel bad for saying they don't exist."
"I don't think you're a scary monster," Derek nudges her with his shoulder.
"I don't think you're a scary monster either," Y/N smiles, leaning in to press a kiss on Derek's lips while Stiles and Peter groan in disgust at their affection. "So, where's the other Peter?"
"He's at the garage. He should be closing up soon."
Y/N looks around at the other people in the yard and sighs, "Okay, I guess I should go say hello to the others but I'll be right back."
"I'll be here waiting," Derek smiles at her as she gets up and walks away.
After saying hello and thank you to Kira, Mason, Thor, Clint, and Loki, she walks over to Melissa and the sheriff, "Are you two having fun?"
"So much fun," Melissa says, pulling Y/N into a hug.
"I'm surprised you were able to get the night off, Dad. I thought you had a big case you're working on?"
"I do, but it's your second birthday so I took the night off. They should be able to survive one night without me." Sheriff Stilinski says.
"I don't know. This is Beacon Hills so you never know." Y/N teases.
"Well, then let's hope they can at least last a few hours without me."
"Is Chris coming?" Y/N looks over at Melissa.
"He said he and Isaac were busy with something so they won't be making it," Melissa says.
"Good. We can finally get through one dinner without Scott and Isaac being completely oblivious to each other."
The sheriff snorts out a laugh at her comment, "Instead we just have to deal with you and Derek."
"You love Derek!" Y/N yells in defense.
"Yes, but I don't love watching him feel up my daughter."
Melissa looks at something past Y/N before looking back at her, "I think you have one more person you have yet to speak to."
Y/N looks over her shoulder to see Tony looking at her before quickly looking away when he notices her looking back at him.
"Go, we can talk more later," Sheriff Stilinski says.
"Okay," Y/N wraps her arms around the sheriff and hugs him tight, "I love you, Dad."
He hugs her back just as tight, "I love you too."
She unwraps her arms from around him and makes her way over to Tony who's sitting by himself at one of the tables, "Mind if I join you?"
"Not at all," Tony pulls out the seat next to him for her to sit in. "Are you having fun?"
"I get two birthdays, of course, I'm having fun!"
"Good, I'm glad you don't mind us doing this."
"You're also my family and you celebrate my birthday today so we will also celebrate today," Y/N says, not noticing that the smile on Tony's face gets bigger when she calls him family. "Have you spoken to Morgan recently?"
After a few deep conversations with Tony, Y/N convinced him to try to mend his relationship with Morgan. He wasn't a very present father to her since he resented Pepper getting pregnant after Y/N was 'taken.'" Morgan isn't his biggest fan and was very close to her mother until the truth about her came out. Tony was quite shocked when she reached out to him and said she wanted to get to know him more—Y/N thinks she feels responsible for something that is not her fault nor was it ever.
Morgan hasn't spoken to Y/N yet, but Y/N's grateful that she hasn't. While Pepper is the only person to blame in the situation, there are a few thoughts in the very back of her mind that make her resent Morgan just a little. Y/N hates that those thoughts are there but it's natural for her to have those after everything Hydra put her through. She tries to tell herself that without Hydra, she wouldn't be where she is today, but she thinks it's stupid that she had to go through something so traumatizing just to end up where she is. If Pepper didn't want her, she could have adopted her out to the Stilinskis with no trauma necessary.
"Not recently, but while you're on vacation, Peter and I are going to go to New York and spend some time with her," Tony replies.
"Thank you for giving us the vacation by the way."
"You say that as if you don't thank me every time you see me."
"That's because I'm really grateful for it." Y/N smiles back at him.
Tony rolls his eyes at her, "Just make sure when you come back I'm not a grandpa."
"Trust me, that is not going to happen," Y/N laughs a little at the thought.
"Good. I'm way too young for that."
"Aren't you lik–"
"I'm too young!" Tony cuts her off quickly.
"Got it," Y/N laughs lightly at his antics. "Thank you for the birthday party...dad."
Tony can feel tears well up in his eyes hearing her call him dad for the first time since they've reunited, "Anything for you." He throws his arm around her shoulders and pulls her into a hug, "Happy birthday, Petal."

Bring You're Kid To Work Day
Maria Hill Edition
Maria Hill x (15 year old) daughter!reader
Request:
Warnings-NOne, fluff, a sugar rush, giggles, protests, whining.
Extra Pairings:
Avengers x Hill!reader
Not my Gif*
Steve walked in with a plate of cookies. COOKIES! Maria swiped them from Steve, hoping to hid them from-
"COOKIES" Y/n, Maria's 15 year old daughter shouted from her spot on the ground.
"Oh god." Maria picked her head up, smiling at her little girl. "Yes, my friend Steve brought them for-" She looked at Steve.
"B-both of you guys." He smiled at Y/n.
"Oh my gosh, I have wanted cookies since last week." Y/n shot her mom a quick glance.
"I told you I looked down that aisle four times. How am I suppose to know they are behind a big box of healthy snacks."
"It's their tactic to keep us on a diet. But I've told you about this before."
"Okay, well I can't remember everything. You know that." Taking a cookie and going back to her seat, Y/n says,
"Well you should." And to make sure her mother doesn't hear she adds a quick, "Thanks Steve."
"You're welcome." Steve gives Maria a nod before ducking out and almost instantly someone else walks right back in.
"There she is! The infamous Y/n Hill. If only Maria told us she had a kid. Maybe you'd be an Avenger by now."
"Really?"
"No." Maria butts in, giving Tony Stark a look. "I think Fury needs you, he is on the other end of the hall." She points down the way. Tony hands Y/n a crusty popsicle that he probably found on the ground and leaves the room. Maria walks over and hands her daughter a cookie in exchange for the lolly. She throws it away, despite Y/n's protests. "No, you're not eating that thing. It's not even food."
"Mooooooom!" Y/n huffs.
"Hey, no whining, come on, we're in public. And you're a big girl." Y/n pouts at Maria. "My big girl." She ruffles your hair. Y/n takes another cookie and walked out the door and down the hall. Maria listens from her desk. She hears people greet her and her daughter's laughter as she traveled down the hallway. Hearing Tony again, and Monica, Carol, Wanda, even Vision's, offering her a brownie. And Maria knew bringing her kid to work was gonna be more mothering than work as Y/n walked in with a plate of cookies, a smile and Vision with Wanda on his heels. Come to say hi.
"Hi!" Wanda cheers!
"Mom look what I found!" She showed her mom the plate, offering her one. Which she declines, seeing the chocolate smeared on Y/n's face. She goes to wipe it off, which Y/n avoids, scrunching her face.
"Okay, I have to be at training, 3 minutes ago. She kisses Vision on the cheek and gives Maria and her daughter a smile as she exits.
"I shall be on my way too. Good to see you, Miss Hill." Vision waves good bye to you and your mom.
Over the next few hours it seems you just started to bounce off the walls after finishing BOTH the brownies and cookie plates. With Maria's help, but mostly your own.
"Mommomomomomomomomom-"
"Babe." She held one hand out to you, the other trying to hold herself together. "Please. If you don't specifically need me, don't call my name."
"Mom?" Maria took a breath.
"Yes?"
"I don't know I just wanted to say your name"
"That's-" You were now running down the hall saying, as it echoed across the walls,
"Look mom nooo haaaaands!" Running with your arms flailing about behind you. Giggling you ran back into her office running around to jump into her chair, trying to, but fitting awkwardly in her lap. Maria just let you go, knowing you would crash soon enough. And 30 minutes later you were asleep on the ground. Thor had come in to gift you surprise birthday cake flavored pop tarts but you asleep. So he left. Maria wasn't even able to greet him before he was marching back down the hall. He came back in, gently putting a small blanket on your back. Maria smiled. She finally felt how the rest of her colleagues did. She realized that they were all just big family. And they all love Y/n just like she does.
After Thor left again, Maria took a photo of her sleeping baby. She smiled and watched her sleep peacefully. Turning out the lights she left to go talk with her family right down the way.

Warnings: mentions of character death, weapons, and fighting, let me know if I missed any :)
Pairings: Wanda Maximoff x daughter reader, Vision x daughter reader, Batfamily x reader platonic <crossover>
Request: I was thinking maybe a batfam x Wanda's daughter! Reader who got reincarnated into the mcu universe after she died in the DC universe. She still has memories of her past life so she asks wanda about it so she shows her the dark hold and how it works. So when wanda is asleep, she uses the dark hold without permission and travels to the DC universe. When she got there she immediately went to the nearest store to buy them presents. It was Christmas day so you decided it would be a nice thing to do. After you did that you immediately went to the manor to greet them after a full year of being dead (in that universe)
Request by: @ladyagagaslefttoe
*not my gif*
Summary: An idea came to you suddenly about the flashbacks you had been having of your past life
A/N: Welcome to day 9 of Book Places 12 Days of Christmas Celebration
Please don’t plagiarize my work, you may reblog if you like but I’m asking that you don’t steal my hard work
You frowned, staring up at your ceiling in the dark with your hands laced together and gently laying on your chest.
So lost in your thoughts, you hadn’t even heard your mother come in, only snapping out of your trance when she flicked the flights on.
“What are you doing?” Wanda asked in amusement, strolling over and sitting at the foot of your bed.
You sighed, sitting up and leaning against the headboard and pulling your knees to your chest before resting your chin on the top, “Just thinking,” You admitted.
“Well don’t think too much longer,” She teased, leaning over and planting a kiss on the crown of your head, “It’s Christmas Eve and we’re going to have a great day tomorrow.”
It’s true, the two of you, along with your father, Vision, had been invited to go over Tony’s for the day tomorrow to hang out with the rest of the Avengers.
When you gave her a small smile in return, she left you to your thoughts, flicking off the lights on her way out so you could return to your previous activity.
Perhaps it was the fact that you were born to the most powerful witch alive that you had the abilities that you had, to see into your past life.
You didn’t exactly have a normal life in that one, not that you did now. You were born in a separate universe, with your father and brothers, as well as yourself, all being vigilantes for your home city, Gotham.
Recently, you have been getting more and more flashbacks than normal about the life you had led as Bruce Wayne’s daughter.
About times with your brothers, sneaking cookies from the kitchen, pillow fights, real fights with thugs out on the streets. And, of course, your death.
It had happened one night while you were on patrol, trying to take down a gang in a warehouse. You had gotten separated from your brothers and someone had snuck up behind you and caught you by surprise.
For obvious reasons, you couldn’t remember what came next, but you knew that it wasn’t pretty.
All of a sudden, an idea sparked through your head and you sat straight up.
It wasn’t impossible, but it wouldn’t be easy, especially since your mother clearly wouldn’t approve.
You gnawed on your bottom lip for a moment as you contemplated what to do before slowly swinging your legs over the side of your bed and hesitantly putting your feet on the ground.
Before fully planting your feet on the ground to stand up, you listened for the sound of your parents steady breathing to let you know that they were in fact asleep.
As quickly and quietly as you could, you slipped out of your room and crept into the spare room that your family had specifically designated for the Darkhold.
Your mother had taught you a while ago how to use it, stressing the importance that it was only to be used as a last case scenario in emergencies.
True, this wasn’t a life or death situation, but you had been given a second chance at life. You were forced to leave behind a family that never got closure for what had happened to you.
Of course, you loved your family in this universe and the avengers more than anything, and you knew and felt nothing for your past family other than what memories gave you. But somewhere deep down, you felt like you owed this to them.
Tossing aside the thoughts of how furious your parents would be when they found out, you took the Book of the Damned into your hands and flipped through the pages until you found what you were looking for.
You closed your eyes and murmured the spell that was inscribed upon the pages, and when you opened them again, you stood on the middle of a sidewalk in a city that you had only seen in your dreams. Gotham.
The city bustled with midday rush, informing you of your suspicions that time moved differently in this universe. If that was the case, then you would have been dead for exactly a year here.
With that fact in mind, you quickly brought your hood over your head and closed the Darkhold, tucking it safely under your arm as you began moving with your head down through the city.
Somehow, you knew exactly where you were going without really thinking about it. As if you knew this foreign city like the back of your hand.
When you arrived at the store you had unknowingly been traveling to, you finally paused for the first time in hesitation.
Your brilliant plan suddenly didn’t seem as great as it had sounded in your head.
You had wanted to use your mothers book to travel to the universe that you had died in and surprise your used-to-be family with gifts and tell them about how you remember, and how you were sorry for what had happened to them.
But what if they didn’t take it that way? What if this was just a slap in the face to them about the sister and daughter they had lost?
Because you weren’t her, not really, but you had thought that maybe- just maybe- they would see it as a way of finally gaining the closure they never had.
Was it selfish that some part of you also wanted to meet them? To see what they were really like? Yes, and you knew it.
Taking a deep breath to calm yourself, knowing that it was too late to go back now, you took a step farther into the store and began to look for what you came for.
In the end, you had some coffee mugs, bags of candy, and other little trinkets you were able to find that reminded you of the memories that you had been having.
With that, you made your way back outside and flagged down a cab, ignoring the weird look you got when you told the driver to take you to Wayne manor.
“Hey,” He said gruffly, eyes narrowing slightly at you, “You look familiar…”
“I’ve probably taken your cab before.” You lied coolly with a small shrug.
He grunted and turned back to begin driving, “Yeah, probably.”
Nothing could’ve prepared you for the wave of nerves that hit you like a train as the large home came into view.
After taking only a deep breath to steady yourself, you paid and thanked the driver before stepping out and warily eyed the intimidating building.
Picking up the bags of gifts you had gotten for them, you hesitantly made your way up the front steps and rang the doorbell once, stepping back to wait.
The two moments it took for someone to answer the door were the longest of your life. You were rocking back and forth on your heels and nervously glancing around in a way that no doubt made you look suspicious.
The door was opened by a man you knew to be Alfred Pennyworth, and the moment his gaze landed on you, he froze, hand falling from the doorknob as he sucked in a sharp breath.
“Who is it Al?” Dicks contagious laugh reached your ears before he was within sight. But when he was, he stopped dead in his tracks as well.
“No…” Your eyes snapped behind him to where Bruce, Jason, Tim, and Damain all stood, eyes wide and faces pale.
A silence broke out then and there, no one wanting- or daring enough- to break it as you all stared at one another. You in curiosity, while some of them held mixed expressions of horror, sadness, and disbelief.
“Hi, guys,” You finally greeted softly, “It’s nice to meet you all.”
That was your first mistake.
Automatically, all of their softened faces hardened and each of them reached for a concealed weapon within their pockets and got into a fighting stance.
“Who are you, and what do you want?” Bruce asked coldly, his tone sending shivers down your spine.
Out of all the flashbacks you had, he had never once spoken to you like that.
You flinched slightly, “Listen, I know this is a lot to take in-“
“Who are you?” Damian hissed, eyes narrow and fists clenched at his sides. The sight of his older sister clearly messing with his head.
You went to take a step forward, but Jason put a finger up to stop you, “Not another step.” He warned.
“Do you think she…” Dick trailed off, not having to finish his sentence for the others to know that he was asking if you had come back from the grave like Jason had.
Tim shook his head, “She couldn’t have.” His tone indicated that he was trying to convince himself just as much as the other, “We tried that already and it didn’t work.”
Your heart broke at the sight of them. These strangers, but not, so confused and upset by your appearance, that for the first time, you really began to regret coming to see them.
“I’m sorry,” You whispered out, eyes pooling with tears as you slowly bent down and placed the shopping bags before them, “I knew coming here was a bad idea.”
As you turned to leave, one voice made you freeze.
“Y/n?” It was Dick, “Y/n, is that really you?”
Your eyes squeezed shut as you turned around to face them once more.
“Kind of,” You whispered, “I’m from a different universe.”
They all exchanged a glance at your words before slowly relaxing their tense stances, surprising you a bit.
“This isn’t the first time we’ve heard something like that”. Tim said.
You took that as your cue to talk once more, and you dove into the explanation as to why you were there.
You told them about the flashbacks you were having from your past life. The way time moves differently. Your universe. How you had just wanted to bring them some gifts for Christmas and hopefully meet them in person.
By the end of your story, the silence had returned, and you were looking back and forth between all of them in anticipation, half expecting them to reach for their weapons once more.
“Would…” Bruce's voice broke slightly before he swallowed thickly, “Would you like to come in?”
So in you went, allowing each and every one of them to give you a hug, even if you weren’t really the girl they lost and passed out their gifts to them. But in so many ways, you were similar. Living in a different universe just made you slightly different.
For hours, you talked and talked. Sharing stories and laughs as you enjoyed Christmas together.
By the time the sun had begun to set, you knew it was time for you to leave, so you hugged each of them once more before stepping out the door.
“Wait, Y/n!” Jason called, causing you to turn to him with slightly raised eyebrows, “Will you- I mean can you-“ He stuttered out.
“Are you able to come back to visit?” Tim filled in the blank for him.
You smiled softly at the request and nodded your head once. Though you still weren’t from that universe anymore, it felt as right as being in your own.
Using the Darkhold once more, you disappeared just in time to see them all waving at you before you returned back to your home once more.
Your parents were still asleep by the time you got back, so you snuck back into your room and got under the covers of your bed.
You had given others and yourself a second chance that day. And no Christmas gift could ever outdo that.

Restless Dreams - Wanda Maximoff x romanoff!Reader
Summary: When the past haunts you, it's best to have someone to hold on to or it sucks you in.
Warnings: mentions of death, injuries, weapon, there is a shoot, needles, sedative, kidnapping, sleep-inducted, and many other bad things... | +18 DNI
A/N: Sorry for my absence, but between the holidays and various reasons I have stretched the broth too much.
Words: 8.674
You stood on the roof of the compound with your girlfriend staring up at the stars under a blanket. "How did you get your powers?" gazing at the starry sky Wanda, your girlfriend, she asked.
"I don't really know. I think they've always been there, just one day something made them activate" you stared at your fingers, passing a little magic ball through your fingers, reflecting on the origin of everything.
The atmosphere between you was getting more tense, you both had a bad history with discovering your powers, and that doesn't brighten the moment at all.
You turned on her side to observe her better and smiling you spoke to her. "But all in all, if I hadn't 'activated' them I wouldn't be here with you, and we just can't allow that" you kissed her cheek, underlining your happiness in being there, and also making her giggle.
"No we can't" she giggled she moved your tickling hands off her lap before she couldn't breathe anymore. "Who knows where I would be if you weren't here? If you hadn't saved Piet?" more serious she asked she, more to herself than to you, you too then think of an answer; then smile.
"You'd be down in your room in a more advanced stage of your emo phase surely despairing over Pietro's death" you made her understand, with no malice in intent, your thought.
She reacted by patting your shoulder in annoyance at the emo phase comment, making you giggle even more this time. "I'm not in an emo phase!" clearly lying she tried to hide, to no avail since you know her well, and your minds are connected.
"Your black nails, the many rings you wear on your fingers and a list of a hundred thousand other things would say differently, darling" you alluded more and more to everyday Wanda, loving her in all those little details, just like she does with you .
"I miss when you were too cheesy" she with a sad smile she moaned softly.
"And I miss your lips. You see, we're both unhappy." you pouted at her, thrusting yourself closer to her, still failing to make eye contact.
Your huffs rang in her ears, cracking her frown, eventually forcing her to turn around to look into your beautiful blue eyes. When you finally managed to look at her, seconds later her lips met yours, in a slow, sweet kiss.
Just before you needed a big breath of fresh air you interrupted your moment by leaning your foreheads together. "Better?" opening those gorgeous emerald eyes, with a smile full of love, your girlfriend asked to you. "Much better" savoring the remaining taste of her lips, you narrowed your eyes basking in all the warmth you emanated.
"What do you say, let's go back to our stars?" she made you open your eyes again with a confused look, which caused her to giggle, before realizing and gasping. "That's why I'm the cheesy one" you pouted, without real intentions, and together you resumed observing the starry night sky.
Your room has never been quieter, and the only thing that made it more comfortable was the memory of one of those late night dates with Wanda.
The two of you rarely sleep in different rooms (and different beds), but the few times you do, the night is always particular.
You've been lying on the bed for hours, under the covers, lost in thought, you could say you've reviewed your whole life but you would seem exaggerated.
A lot has happened lately, your friend Kate has moved to the compound (although she commutes between here and her apartment), you start to think that something is brewing between her and Pietro (but for now it's just continuous teasing), life inside and outside the missions is strangely easy (or maybe you're in love and everything else seems insignificant to you) and the 'be human' project with Vision proceeds slowly but steadily.
And as you stare into the void in the walls of your room, you start to hear a strange sound.
Beep... Beep... Beep..
A kind of beep, getting louder and with a constant rhythm, grips your mind, chasing away all other thoughts.
Beep...Beep...Beep...Beep...
You try not to think about it but the more you ignore it the more persistent it becomes. It starts to get unbearable, so you violently get out of bed and walk out of the room in search of the source.
You go into the kitchen and dig a hole in the water, you wander around the other areas of the compound with no results, you even try to see in the living quarters (the empty ones) but you just can't see anything abnormal.
You were about to give up and reopen the door to your room, yielding to the pressures of the mysterious sound and growing sleep, when you pass Wanda's room and hear soft moans.
Beep... Beep... Beep... Beep... Beep...
The closer you get to her room and the louder and faster the sound gets, there's no doubt that whatever it is, it's from her. She should be sleeping therefore it's useless for you to knock and enter by forcing the handle a little.
The room is dark, you can barely distinguish the stretched out shape of your girlfriend's body, and it's a bad thing that every beep corresponds to a gasp from her.
This is one of those nights huh? WHY I didn't get it before!
Sometimes at night Wanda still had nightmares, they could be about her parents, or they could be the memories of the tortures that Strucker called 'experiments' that came back to haunt her.
In these moments she goes back to being a scared child, increasingly fragile, your heart hurts to see her like this.
In a heartbeat, you wrap your arms around her, she's still shaking and desperately muttering words in Sokovian. You don't know which of her usual torments haunts her tonight, but you hope that your presence can help her in some way.
In your attempt to banish the painful memories, a sad realization comes to you.
The continuous beeps, all in sequence, as if they were a countdown, are one of the things that terrifies Wanda the most. The ticking of the countdown of that cursed missile torments her very often, even before you met her (Pietro once told you so).
That beep handed down in your mind was nothing more than a request for help from her subconscious.
Suddenly, still wrapped in your thoughtful cloud, you notice movement beneath you. It's Wanda who woke up abruptly, she was reliving that memory crap, so when she opened her eyes she didn't expect to feel two arms around her and so she gasped a little.
"Hey, it's me. Still the nightmares?" she whispered into her ear, trying to keep her tones as low and calm as possible, just to not scare her further. "Mhm" wide awake, and very shaken, she admitted in shock.
"Why did you come here?" now more conscious she formulated her curiosity about her, unfortunately continuing to mentally reproduce that annoying sound. You wince at her continued concern for you, even though the one needing treatment now is her. "I felt you needed me and I ran right away. However I was still awake" you reassure her without giving her further worries, she is already too shaken.
She sighs, turns in your grip, and only now can you see traces of tears covering her cheeks, her eyes still red from crying. "I keep seeing them, the seconds until the explosion. Under that bed, I keep counting the seconds until that damned missile explodes" sobs escape her lips, she closes her eyes before shrinking smaller and smaller .
You basically became the big spoon in no time, with Wanda curled up with her head on your chest, you making concentric circles on her back to help her calm down, and an impending outburst.
"I shouldn't have done it! I... I shouldn't have volunteered for Strucker's experiments. There wouldn't have been Ultron if I hadn't let hatred and vengeance take me" she gets caught up in anger and pain, towards herself, and the more she continues the more she hyperventilates.
You try to calm her down, but all attempts fail, then you remember what she did when it was you who hyperventilated. "Hey, hey, hey, Wands breathe. In and out, follow me." you take her hands, now that both of you are sitting in the middle of the bed, and together you try to take deep breaths.
"Remember what you tell me when I'm in trouble? Focus on my thoughts, let go of everything else, just you and me now" you look into her eyes, thinking about the things she needs to hear (they're all true, for you), just waiting for a change.
It's not your fault, you did what you thought was right, and when you understood the truth you quickly changed your mind.
Do you remember? I was there, I saw you. And then Ultron is gone, we defeated him, together.
Now you're here, you have a lot of people who love you, and above all you have me.
You've said the last part many times in the last few months of dating, yet those three famous little words are struggling to get out, perhaps it would be premature to even think so. It used to be normal for you to say your love for each other without doing it, either physically or with a veiled version of ILY, but every time you had to soothe Wanda out of one of her post-nightmare outbursts you were very tempted to spill the beans.
Focusing on the words you were thinking, taking deep breaths, and anchoring herself in your touch, she finally calms down. "Goes better?" you worried, probe the ground, staring fear into those once joyous eyes.
Honestly she doesn't know what to answer, you understand it too, that's why you caress her cheeks, brushing away the last traces of tears with your thumbs. "Shall we go back to sleep?" finally you propose to her, you also open your arms so that she can sneak in, as she likes to do every time.
At this point in the night, you are both mentally tired, both from the exhausting day and the recent late night episode. You are already leaving for the world of dreams again when something unexpected happens.
"Thank you Y/N for always being there for me. I love you so much." are the words that Wanda says, probably just before falling asleep, since after coming out of the trance for the realization of her you try to call her without success. "I love you too Wanda" you finally whisper before kissing her head and falling asleep too.
Of course she may not have heard you, or she may have said it in a moment of tiredness, or she had said it but she doesn't mean it in that sense, but tomorrow you would (perhaps) make sure you tell her again.
≈≈≈≈≈≈ a few weeks later ≈≈≈≈≈≈
"Are you sure everything will be fine?" near the Quinjet, Wanda asks you, worried about the mission. You rolls your eyes before receiving a serious warning look, and shakes your head confidently. "Wands, everything will be fine, the mission is no big deal. Don't worry, I won't be alone, Steve and Kate will be there with me too." you keep her shoulders still, your eyes fixed on her, and your words as sincere as possible, you are sure that everything will be fine.
How can she say no when you're so sure, and then when you stick you can be so stubborn.
"They'd better protect you, otherwise they'll have to deal with a very angry girl" she tells you, accentuating the last part of her for the two avengers inside the jet to hear. You give her a tender smile followed by a too-short goodbye kiss before you turn and step into the aircraft to admire a sorry pout from your favorite brunette afterwards.
I love you, girl
I love you more Y/N, and be careful
——————————————————————
Everything is fine isn't it?
You just had to search a building, neutralize the threats and recover the resource. You Steve and Kate split up, eliminated all threats for each floor and now you were looking for a very stupid crate marked with number 74.
"It's like looking for a needle in a haystack" rummaging through a kind of warehouse among the papers, you communicate into the earpiece. "Only it's a huge empty building here" from earpiece Kate equally bored, huffs plaintively.
"Girls stay focused, danger can be everywhere" as usual, as a good leader he is (or as a good pain in the ass) Steve interfered in your bored complaints to the research.
As much as you huff, surely Kate does too, given her clear laugh at your flippant reply. "All right capsicle, we'll be careful we don't end up frozen for seventy years" you tease the poor super soldier, you torture him on this whenever you like.
"What does this have to do with it?" annoyed, he clearly wonders about the relevance of the topic. "Oh nothing, it's just that I find it funny" as a thing like any other you say by taking an interesting folder, leafing through it a bit and then continuing to rummage elsewhere.
The musty smell of the basement, mixed with the immeasurable quantity of files stored in this horribly disturbing place, makes you considerably speed up the search for the desired object.
You're browsing through the shelves of a bookshop when you notice a door, a door that really shouldn't be there, on the maps you studied earlier this place had to have only one exit, and it's not that.
Stealthily you approach cautiously, secretly hoping that it is closed, even if it would not serve to block you, in fact it would only slow you down. "Guys, I found something..." you try to communicate, the mysterious door getting closer (and more disturbing), and a deafening silence.
You wait impatiently for an answer, time passes and you feel only the recondite silence in the air, and you start to worry slightly. "Guys?" try again, hoping for a futile attempt, whose failed attempt only made you more nervous.
"....."
You sigh disconsolately, the situation worsens rapidly, and you have only one conclusion.
Shit, there's no signal.
It looks like a horror movie, and I'm going to do exactly what I'm not supposed to do.
As bold as ever, you turn the doorknob and leap inside. The room is exactly like the rest of the basement, damp and smelly, except that there's a 90's computer on a desk in the center of the room.
"Not at all creepy" you mutter cautiously, obviously it's a trap, if there were signs their 'it's a trap' arrows would be pointing at the vintage knick-knacks.
Now given up on having communications, you continue the mission's purpose, and thus approach the obvious pitfall.
Behind you, however, hidden in the shadows, there is a masked figure ready to ambush you. It approaches as shrewd as a cat in a flash, and before you knows it he's injecting you with a powerful sedative behind your back, powerful enough to make you collapse not before saying your last words. "блядь..."
——————————————————————
Your sedated body was dragged to an unknown location, leaving you hanging around your mind while someone did what they wanted with you.
——————————————————————
Steve and Kate after trying several times to get in touch with you reunited in the empty dungeon discovering your having been kidnapped. Defeated and morally demoralized, as well as empty-handed, they were forced to return to the compound without you.
Wanda and your mother (just back from a mission) were waiting for you at the landing zone, and what they didn't expect was not to find their favorite person.
As soon as the Quinjet landed they expected to see your sunny presence rushing towards them, that's why they are surprised when they hear only the deafening noise of the rotors fading away. Neither of them want to break the terrible news to your mother, who is also a very protective ex-assassin when it comes to her adopted daughter, or to your girlfriend, a powerful witch in love with an expert in torturing mind.
Fortunately for them, or rather unfortunately, those two girls are very suspicious and in fact after a few minutes they are already inside the aircraft very worried. "What happened to Y/N?" the concern written on your mother's face, arms folded and a glare, emotionless on the outside but trembling with concern on the inside using all her spy training to hold back worried tears.
The uncertain looks that the super soldier and the young archer exchange and the obvious strong thoughts that emanate, involuntarily make your girlfriend understand the sad truth.
Her whole world seems to collapse, the only person (besides her brother) who has not been afraid of her powers (or of her in general) and with whom she felt different, more herself, has now been kidnapped, subjected to god knows what atrocity, and no one knows better than she what those people can do.
She can no longer stand from the pressure, so with tears still just welling in her eyes, she drops to her knees, one hand over her mouth to keep from screaming at the searing pain in her chest.
Natasha still unaware of your kidnapping, understands the gravity of the situation by closely watching Wanda's rapid collapse and fires a quick 'tell me what the fuck happened to my daughter' dart at Steve, before ducking just a little to Wanda's level and giving her a hug of comfort; she is your girlfriend after all, she should show some affection to her too, and then she too suffers for the same reason and understands.
Sure, that hug maybe didn't calm Wanda, but it allowed the widow to seriously experience how down in the dumps Steve and Kate were. Kate is the most experienced, she sees traces of tears still fresh, her hair is all messed up, and she probably cried on the flight home.
Steve on the other hand is very shaken, since you've been here despite your problems you've tried to make him feel at home, and he was the first one you met so he feels guilty for not having come to check sooner, maybe he could have caught the kidnapper .
"They took her..." the blond from America finally confesses.
At these words the young archer gets up and from the seat and walks away at an accelerated pace, with more tears starting to flow, she doesn't want to see the same mistake again, not after she keeps seeing it in her mind every single second.
"Taken? Who did it? How could this happen?" as a mother terrified of losing her daughter, she shoots questions deeper and deeper into her wound.
"She entered an area with no cover, the enemy was waiting for her…they ambushed her" in a cracked voice, a battered Steve sums up what he knows about what happened to you.
"You should have protected her...you should have..." between a sob and a shower of tears, accusing words, not really to Steve, more to herself for not coming with you (you said you could handle it) and maybe even to you for being so careless.
She is increasingly desperate, not even Natasha's reassuring gesture manages to keep her rooted without sinking into the abyss of pain. As always, the redhead has to be the strong one, now she has to do it for you, to find you as soon as possible, and she has to do it for Wanda too, deep down she cares a lot about the girl.
From the position next to her, he faces and puts his hands on the shoulders of the Sokovian, perhaps perceiving a minimum point to give her hope. "Wanda listen to me, I promise we will find her. I will find her, and I swear I won't stop until she's here again" she promises stubborn as ever, and truly she won't stop until she finds you.
"We'll Find Her"
——————————————————————
They took your body to a research facility, which is something a normal person would do when they 'get' someone with powers, didn't they?
From the few minutes of sleep-wake they let you have between one dose of sedatives and the other you understand that you are probably attached to a heart rate monitor and they have certainly put you on a stretcher.
Every now and then in the sleepwalking void you feel like pricks, so you assume they are studying you, your powers and abilities, or they are other drugs because you are too awake to feel them. After all the void of sleep isn't that bad, it feels like sleep but this time you don't know how conscious you are until you fall back into induced sleep again.
You don't understand if the hours, the days, the weeks go by, and everything seems like a boring monotonous silence.
At the same time as the compound, your mother doesn't rest for a second, puts all her energy into finding a link to where the Hydra has locked you up and literally hasn't slept in who knows how long, she has the whole team involved in your research (not that there was any need, they would have done it even if she hadn't asked), everyone does everything possible to remind Natasha to at least feed, as well as spending every way for the slightest clue.
Everyone except Wanda, she hasn't left your room since she found out, she spends her days crying in your bed and when she's not crying, she reads all the little notes you've stuck in the room to remind you of the most mundane things (such as: training with mom at 10 am, date with Wanda tonight!✨, etc...) just to remember what your voice would sound like.
The night is the worst moment for her, since nightmares have kidnapped you, they are a daily thing and they are all about the fear of losing you, of seeing your lifeless corpse in her arms, that's why her eyes are glassy from tiredness and from despair all day.
——————————————————————
Three weeks have passed since day X, they have just reduced the dose of sedatives and moved you to an isolated cell, very dirty and full of mold everywhere. However it's not like you could go anywhere, they tied you to the bed and you can't move from there.
They come every three hours to check if you're awake, and two times out of three they put you back to sleep, so you stay awake about long enough to sort your thoughts. You're stuck and shut down, barely able to read very strong thoughts from weak minds, so an escape is unlikely.
However, now you feel a strange feeling in your stomach, and then a rush of energy. A rush of familiar emotions, anger, worry, revenge but above all love, give you a new rush of power.
The only person capable of restoring your magical power is the only one you would now like to see in your arms, so a new strength makes you sit up abruptly, breaking the belts that held you to the bed. "Wanda!" burning red eyes and a hopeful smile accompany you as you quickly get off the bed.
You've just discovered that you're wearing a hospital gown, and by the meager marks on your body you understand the length of your stay with the enemy. With a flurry of hands you unhinge the door and with very little energy you trudge out. You can feel Wanda, she is here, wherever here is, you just have to find her.
Obviously being an enemy base it is full of soldiers, ready to shoot you as soon as they see you. You trudge tired and luckily thanks to your powers you manage to take out one by one (slamming them from one wall to another) all the obstacles, at least that's what you thought after passing a few floors.
Slowly exhausted from the walk and very hungry you continued your desperate search when you feel a thud behind you and then a warmth in your leg. You are already too exhausted from everything so the bullet that entered your leg is the straw that breaks the camel, so your fainting is quick, unfortunately you do not notice the red flash behind you and a familiar walk behind you.
It took them three weeks, but your mother finally found you. They kept you imprisoned in an old abandoned Hydra base, or so the team believed, well hidden from prying eyes, but not so well from some satellite.
Within minutes the information had spread throughout the compound, and the entire team was already mobilizing for the rescue.
If you were there with them you could have described your mother and girlfriend in three words: hope, determination and revenge.
As soon as FRIDAY had announced your location in your room Wanda was incredulous, in less than five minutes she was already out of the compound ready to go and very pounding.
When they arrived near the 'abandoned' structure Pietro did a quick inspection counting the exits, the enemies and maybe spotting you, so after a few minutes the Avengers burst into the building.
When Wanda found you she had just split from the rest of the team, convinced she had seen something, she had just turned the corner when she heard a shot, a little further on there was a guard holding a gun pointed at someone, in a fit of rage he flies off the building and looks at the shot victim.
Her eyes are shocked, you just fell to the ground, exhausted and with a hole in your leg, you pass out before she reaches you. When she takes you in her arms she sees your glassy eyes, your malnourished body and pale skin, you basically got here by miracle. You're so thin that she can pick you up bridal style and make her way to the jet.
——————————————————————
They rescued you and blew up the building (after successfully eliminating any form of threat), but you had been too neglected in the three weeks and also aided by your gunshot wound you fell into a coma.
The team took you back to the compound where you were met and treated by a world-class medical team, you were cleared of the drug cocktails those Hydra scientists had injected into you, but you still didn't have enough strength to wake up. Days go by and the team, or rather your family, continues to visit you assiduously.
Sometimes only Kate will come, and whispering she will ask you a billion times sorry for she knows not what reason, she feels guilty for her friend and somehow holds herself responsible for your suffering.
Steve comes to visit you at least twice a day, the first time he brings you one of your favorite books, he changes them every day and he knows how much you love to read so he hopes it helps, the second time he does it for Wanda, he brings her a hot meal, given who refuses to leave your side until you wake up. Not that this helps, however she wouldn't eat it anyway, at least maybe she doesn't show it but she appreciates Steve's gesture.
Sam stays a while and then goes away, but he always wishes you a speedy recovery and tries to make Wanda smile every now and then.
Tony came the other day too, his usual manners getting him kicked out of the infirmary by your mother before he said anything to arouse Wanda's wrath. However what he wanted to give you he had already put in your room so the visit to the infirmary was just pure courtesy.
Vision is the one who showed up the least, he had calculated that you would wake up within a week and therefore there was no need to worry, he will only have come to check on you twice.
The only people who never or very rarely left the room were Natasha and Wanda.
The brunette always sat by your side and as the rest of the world went on she stopped hers for you. Even if you're standing there right in front of her, your pulse being monitored on the screen, she's terrified that one day, the wrong one, the pulse on that monitor will stop.
Her favorite activity has now become holding your hand, hoping that you will respond to her squeeze, or in cases where she feels suffocated and misses you too much, she rests next to you, with her head on your chest, to remain anchored here only thanks to the sound of your heart.
If Pietro hadn't been there, she would have gone mad with pain, it may seem excessive but in a short time you filled a hole in her life that she didn't even know she had, and now that hole is reopening, and blood is coming out. As close as he could was to his sister, as well as her friend.
Natasha took the hit of the coma better than Wanda, she had you at home safe, and she's too stubborn to think you can die, you'll just wake up full stop. The only times she left the room was when someone else was with Wanda, just to get some air, or something to eat, after which she would quickly come back to you two.
A silver lining was that at least they talked to each other more, when they were in the mood for it, and mainly share the best memories they have with you. Your presence certainly helped the twins settle better in the team, let's say you gave both sides a boost.
She takes care of your girlfriend as well as she does you, she knows that's what you want, and it's also a way to postpone the pain so welcome.
For a couple of nights Wanda has fallen asleep exhausted curled up against you, and each time Natasha takes and puts the blanket on for you two, letting you rest, then she sits down on one of the chairs and dozes off, also very tired.
——————————————————————
It is now afternoon, twelve days have passed since you were shot, and one month and five days since the fateful mission.
It is the first time that Natasha has left the room leaving Wanda alone, nothing should happen after all she is sleeping which is rare in recent days.
The first thing you feel is a big headache, you're completely dazed, you don't even know where you are or how you got there.
When you open your eyes slightly the yellowish light of the sun blinds you and you can barely see the white ceiling of the room.
The continuous background noise that has accompanied you in the last month, that of your heartbeat on the monitor, is always present only this time it seems to you that you are less bedridden.
Then all of a sudden the memories of the last month come back to you, the constant sedatives, and the withdrawals, the tests, the confinement to the bed, and then the escape, only for it all to vanish in smoke.
Realization hits you when you try to move and you realize there's someone leaning against you, why didn't you notice it sooner?
Your blood rushes to your brain at the very thought of having to fight in this state but you immediately cheer up when you see that it's your girlfriend.
She is clinging to you as if her life depended on it and you even mind breathing if it means disturbing her graceful sleep.
The light breeze that moves her hair makes you aware of where you are, the dear infirmary of the compound, much better than the last bed you woke up in. The soft light already gives you a daily context but you are quite tired of lying down.
With a lot of effort you try to get into a sitting position, but as you suspected, in addition to the impending difficulty, you wake up Wanda. "Y/N!? Oh my god, you woke up!" her eyes widen in disbelief, she quickly unravels from your arms, her happy expression changes when she sees your strained face.
"Stay down, don't force yourself, you'll hurt" with strong hands she brings you back down again, with one goal, to let you rest. "I'm fine Wands, I'm just a little dizzy. I just wanted to be a little straighter" you reassure her, making the situation clear, and hoping for a slowdown in the restrictions.
Her expression doesn't waver, she's not going to make you move a single muscle, and she'll take care of it personally.
"No you're not well, you woke up after almost two weeks in a coma and now you won't even move a muscle, you have to rest" like a good nurse she commands you, even pointing at you with her finger, her concern screams from all over her.
You sigh yielding, you missed her caring side too, even though sometimes it's too much, this time you have to indulge her. Stop all your futile attempts to get your body to move and embrace the idea of lying down.
At this point it would be better to restart the conversation completely, so in order not to undermine it even more, you prefer to enjoy the silence and stare, with an unconsciously pained gaze, at the caring emerald eyes of your favorite brunette.
The thought that she was too brutal by preventing you from getting up doesn't even cross her mind, after all you were in pain getting up and she doesn't want you to suffer, if anything she could help you…maybe.
Now sitting more composed, on the edge of the bed, with her legs crossed, she thoughtfully massacres her lower lip with her teeth while with one hand she strokes your numb legs. A flash of genius comes to her in these few seconds of reflection, a light in her eyes, literally when she approaches and she fixes you by putting an extra pillow behind your back to make you stand a little higher.
"I missed you so much, I thought I was losing you" moving, close enough to have her long brown hair on your chest, her strong arms gripping your forearms, she lets go of all the sadness and especially that little constant dread of never hearing your voice again.
The benefit of being a telepath yourself, even if you're exhausted, is that you feel all the plethora of painful thoughts gripping her brain, and you're perhaps the only person who can put an end to them right now.
"I've missed you a lot too Wands, and I'm never, ever leaving you. I promise." with your heart in your hand you promise her something for which you will fight to the last drop of blood in your veins, to seal this pact you also raise your little finger, one way for another to make everything lighter.
Her little finger quickly reaches yours, and you squeeze it to seal your solemn promise.
Don't miss the opportunity to push your face a little closer, so that your lips come together in a kiss that has been requested for more than a month.
"Never do that again" now that the kiss is done, in fear her whole facade crumbles. "What... kiss you?" you look at her amazed, usually she liked your kisses, maybe there's something deeper underneath her, or maybe you wanted to make her smile already knowing the answer.
"No stupid, leave me alone" she smiles at your antics, sometimes they really change her day, but this time her fears are well founded.
"I can try to do this, after all I have good reasons to go home" you linger over the last words, sketching in your mind a series of valid reasons, while you give her a look that is both sincere and provocative at the same time give. "And what would these reasons be? I'd really like to hear them" provocative eyes, malicious intent, are hers when the space between you increases, sitting again in the space next to your outstretched legs.
"Hmm let's see....It's movie night on Friday..." with a thoughtful look, fingers on chin, your eyes in full defiance, you tease her. "Friday movie night?" with her mouth hanging open and an expression both surprised and disappointed, she surely she was expecting something romantic, aside from the fact that you can be romantic as well as be a tease.
"Then there are... my mother's failed attempts at cooking... Vision's lingering philosophical quotes... the grandfatherly air Steve brings... Sam's incomprehensible jokes..." you list one by one very random motifs, some unnerving, leaving a little pause between each one to give the brunette a little more suspense. "AND?" she shakes her arms in exasperation, she knows she's at the end of this, but you're really dragging your feet.
At her insistence you laugh, maybe you shouldn't since lifting your chest so much causes you a little pain (which you're good enough to hide) all over the ribcage area, you can see that maybe you shouldn't have scoffed her insistence. Your brief reward is when she pouts, that tender pout she only gives you, the one you can't resist, anyway you would have told her in the end.
"Annnnd... you Wanda, you are the biggest reason to come home" with soft eyes, heart in hand, and aching limbs, once again you confess your love to her.
Joy is not quantifiable on Wanda's face, of course she knew you would say it, in practice she was begging you to finish that sentence in this way, but it always does her heart good to feel how much you love her.
For this reason, immediately after your fatal words, she jumps on you, in a bizarre way too, considering that you are half-reclining, forgetting all the precautions she had imposed on herself to make you respect.
She nearly chokes you at how tight her arms are wrapped around your neck, and all in all her reaction was not quite like the usual Wanda you know.
When you met her she was always standoffish with others, the only one she literally wasn't bitter with was her brother, certainly the situation you were in wasn't the most favorable for making friends, among other things you were probably still enemies, but with you she always behaved differently from the others. It may be because of your bond, or curse if you prefer, unique, but right from the start there was an incredible chemistry. Time has only helped, until now and her attempt to smother you in a hug.
"Hey…it's okay…it's okay… I love you too, there's no need to choke me" you force yourself to speak, giggling at her grips, knowing that maybe this will lead you to be free. Fortunately this time it suits you because you are immediately released, but in exchange you get the best show you could ask for.
Red as a tomato, her hair all tousled, your beautiful girlfriend cackled loudly, using one hand to push her dark hair away from her face and behind her ear and the other in a failed attempt to hold back the laughter, drawing the your gaze in love like a magnet.
Your constant staring only makes the Sokovian grin even more, almost making her breathless. "W-Why are you staring at me?" she mumbles still trying to suppress the rest of the laughter, still beaming as always, only now you realize what you were doing perhaps unintentionally and this in turn makes you laugh.
"I was just thinking that I just picked the right Maximoff" you nonchalantly tell her smiling. Your answer makes her raise an eyebrow in disbelief. "You say?" she asks you curiously. Whereupon you shake your head and already prepare yourself for other flattery to give to your declared crush.
"Very convinced. Pietro isn't as witty as he thinks, and then he's really a messy..." you explain your reasons when the lock on the handle clicks and the door opens revealing Pietro following Natasha who were chatting softly.
When your conversations have petered out together, looks of astonishment and wonder come to their eyes, the next thing you know is that your mother is on the other side of the bed, showering you with hugs and kisses.
It is literally the greatest amount of affection that Natasha has given you, of course there have been hugs, kisses of various kinds, other things between mothers and daughters, but never as concentrated as now.
"Sleeping Beauty has finally woken up" in his usual sarcastic way, Pietro comments, and if you could see him, even if you already know he's got it, you'd see that cursed smile he's given since he's been teasing you.
"I missed you too, Piet," you tell him, after extricating yourself from your mother's forest of arms and red hair. "When did you wake up?" more composed and less attached to you, but always on the right side of the bed, your mother asks for hours.
You give Wanda a quick quizzical look, since she was the only one in the room, but she has the same uncertain expression you have so you don't know what to answer. "a few minutes ago..." you try again a look of support "... yes minutes, practically recently" Wanda backs you up, as uncertain as you are.
"You had a long sleep" begins from behind her sister, that dear sprinter you have as a friend. Speechless with a single glance you address the unspoken question to the two women on either side of you. "Almost two weeks" by rubbing her hand over your outstretched arm, your mother updates you on your forced rest period.
"I bet C-3PO tried to calculate when I would wake up, did he?" smile thinking back to the synthezoid while he tries to calculate your shooting time, sometimes the way he talks you can't help but chuckle. Your smile is contagious, because the other three smile at your joke too, but only Pietro intervenes.
"Speaking of robots, there are a couple of people over there who can't wait to talk to you" with a grimace he teases you, he knows you hate all this attention, oh how much he knows.
You roll your eyes and mutter "let's take this band-aid off" as you pass your right hand over your face, you also manage to make Wanda smile with your manners and all in all this is not bad.
——————————————————————
Within a few minutes, one by one all the members of the team, or for you of your family, arrive in the now crowded room.
In the short waiting time, you have the opportunity to take a further look at the room and smile when you see the book on the bedside table on your left, already knowing who brought it to you and planning to thank him.
——————————————————————
As you suspected, Steve was the first to cross the threshold of the medical cabin, an expression of relief when he saw that you were well and in good company. "Captain" you greet him formally, still a little aching, stupid headache. He approaches you, making room for himself on the side of the bedside where Natasha used to be, now out to go and call the others.
"Girl you really scared us" a serious but also concerned tone takes the super soldier. You sigh in amusement, ready to answer, you adjust your position, firmly helped by Wanda's arm. "Well what do I have to say, I haven't slept for seventy years but I'm tired of being in the REM phase" with a slight arrhythmia from the effort you make a slight joke.
A reproachful look nevertheless reaches your eyes, even if it dissolves immediately after, by now your jokes on this topic missed him.
A sound getting closer, almost like a scream, you start to hear. "Y/N!!!" Kate bursts into the room, held briefly by Sam, hell the girl is nimble.
Her eyes are shining with contentment, her feet far apart, her arms stretched out for the run, and all her disbelief is enclosed in her being. "Kate..." you whispered in surprise, sincerely at everything, at her hasty manner and the faintly remorseful expression on her face. "Oh my god…"she covers her mouth with her hands before almost throwing herself at me.
She literally pushes Steve away for space and before long she's wrapping you up in a tear-jerking hug. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, sorry sorry..." she murmurs into the crook of your neck, so sorry and finally relieved to empty herself of the guilt she feels she has that she doesn't mind your surprised expression at all.
Like a brick all the stormy guilty thoughts that sink her suddenly hit you, thoughts from her point of view very concrete, having suggested to split up to cover more ground was her idea without most likely you would not have fallen into the trap.
But what he doesn't know is that you wanted to venture alone into an area with no signal and that clearly reeked of a trap. "No no... No Kate, stop apologizing, you didn't do anything. It was all my idea" you cautiously move away, alienated by the amount of hugs you've had in the last few minutes, but with a more important task.
Apparently your intentions weren't clear because she's still insecure so try again with more conviction. "I knew what I was doing, nothing of the last month is your fault" even more convinced you take her by the shoulders, eyes convinced, and you indicate your body to explain above all the shot.
She is really shocked
She took all the blame for your kidnapping before and your weak coma now
She shouldn't have, she shouldn't, the responsibility for that is mine alone
I don't know what to do Wands, should I use my powers?
I think this is for you to decide детка
Her posture is all hunched over, mostly due to the fact that she was holding you, but you have to continue despite her evidence of upset from her. "Are we still friends? I mean... aren't you angry with me?" she comes out, surprising you suddenly, a sudden question but with a lot behind it.
Take a deep breath and before you can say anything Wanda reaches the young archer from this side placing a hand on her shoulders.
"If I were to be angry about all the plans gone awry that caused me some injuries, I would most likely hate the person who is about to walk through that door" without a hint of sarcasm, alright maybe just a little bit, you finally tell her, concluding the last part just as Sam was panting through the door.
"This...girl...runs...a lot" taking deep breaths, Sam gestures at Kate, completely oblivious to your previous conversation with the archer.
The exclamation plus the birdman's breathless pitiful state (he hates when he's called that so you'll keep calling him that in your head hoping he can hear it) brings out a hopeless watery smile at the girl as well as a knowing look between you and Peter.
"Sam" you greet him trying not to let a smile slip, acknowledging your active presence. "Y/N, well woken up" between a sigh and the rest now more composed he too returns the smile. "Trouble breathing, bird man?" teases Pietro as only he can do, he is on par with Tony sometimes as far as it can be a joke, it would be an exciting fight.
If a look could kill then the sprinter would now be stone dead from the glare that the literal "not birdman, they're just wings" throws at him. Then you really can't resist any longer and you grin maliciously laughing both at the joke and at the look (even at your thoughts), a light pat comes on your shoulders when Wanda makes you understand that laughing at other people's misfortunes isn't so nice after all, even if you pout however her idea remains the same.
Right now Natasha walks into the room too, before the now tangible body of the world's most motor-skilled toaster pops out of the wall, further boosting your laughter as he makes poor Sam take a hit. "What are you doing so funny?" says your mother, aware of your laughter, but for Sam's sake she tries to deflect the subject.
"I entered and ..." Vision believing he has to make a list, all serious he gestures undermining what he has done and then staring at the others in confusion. "Vis what did I tell you? It was rhetoric, she doesn't want to know what you did." particularly precise on this point, he had asked you to learn to understand the human being and you are helping him, rhetoric is part of all this. A sad look however took him.
"Oh. Well woke up anyway Y/N." dejected dejected he shut up.
——————————————————————
That's what you've done for the next hour, talking to all the people who have given color their way into your life.
At least until your mother pleaded that you needed to rest, which you were already tired of doing since the last month in bed, kicking everyone out of the room.
The only people left inside were you, Natasha and Wanda, or as you dubbed them in your head: your new nurses.
They literally instituted very limited visiting hours beyond which only the two of them in exchange could see you.
When you insisted on the first night to go back to your room they protested and so you ended up staying in that kind of hospital room for another week. The biggest torture was that you couldn't do anything.
'Rest and see that you'll get better' your mother tells you all the time, even if it's true that whatever they injected in there could be dangerous now you're bored.
The only activity that wasn't eating (all rigorously prepared by your girlfriend), sleeping, chatting with your 'freedom holders' and other things that don't move much is reading.
You love Steve after all those books he stole from your room and brought them here, literally even if you know them by heart you devour them out of boredom.
When they finally let you out you are strictly accompanied, no longer by two prison guards but only by Wanda (perhaps you can fool her with her big eyes) which you don't mind.
The missions for the first three weeks are off-limits, you can't even talk about it, then slowly, pushing the right buttons, you convince them to trust you.
Of course of all these treatments you know that as soon as they run out the rest of the team will mess you around until you die. Especially Pietro

DS: MOM spoilers!!
Wanda didn't only have the twins in her time in westview. She also had a daughter, older, more like her in many ways. What happens when she can only locate her sons in an alternate reality?
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Tommy shakes his head saying "I'm too old to be tucked in, Mom."
"Oh. Okay." She smiles to him
Billy says “You can still tuck me in mom.”
“Sure, You know, a family.. is forever. I'll always-”
“I changed my mind. You can tuck me in mom.”
Wanda smiles and begins to tuck Tommy in. “Your sister, she still lets me tuck her in even to this day. When I have a really bad day I stay with her in her bed. The cuddles she provides...”
“What sister mom?”
Wanda looks to Tommy confused saying “y/n.. your big sister. She-”
Wanda wakes up from her dream, saddened. She rubs her face shaking her head. Where was her daughter in that dream?
Why didn't the boys know their sister?
Where was Vision?
Later that day,
Strange approaches the “blossom fields”
She hands him a branch and he sniffs it saying “it smells..”
She finishes his sentence saying “Sweet.”
“I was gonna say real.”
“It’s all very real. I put all the magic behind me.”
He nods and says “So I can see.”
She says “I knew sooner or later you’d show up wanting to discuss what happened at Westview. I made mistakes. And people got hurt.”
“But you made things right in the end. I’m not here to talk about westview.”
“Then what are you here for?”
“We need your help. What do you know about the multiverse?”
“The multiverse? Vis had his theories. He believed it was real and dangerous.”
“He was appropriately right about both. We found a girl, who can somehow travel across the multiverse and she’s being pursued. Some kind of demon. One that wants her power for themselves. We’ve taken her to Kamar Taj. We’ve got our group but we could use an Avenger.”
“There are other avengers.”
“Yeah but given the choice between the archer with the Mohawk and several bug themed crime fighters or one of thee most powerful magic wielders on the planet, it’s an easy call. Come to Kamar Taj. We’ll get you back on the lunch box.”
She smiles lightly and says “What if you brought America here?”
He looks to her surprised saying “Here?”
“Yeah. I know what it’s like being on your own. Hunted for your abilities. I could protect her.”
He stops in his tracks and Wanda looks back towards him “You never told me her name, did you?”
“No. No I didn’t.”
“The hex was the easy part. Lying… not so much.”
The surrounding apple blossoms appear differently as she drops the illusion. She smiles slightly saying “My daughter, she always loved the blossom trees. It’s a shame these aren’t as vibrant as the ones in the books.”
He looks to the dark hold saying “The dark hold.”
“You’re familiar with the dark hold?”
“I know it’s the book of the damned. And that it corrupts everything and everyone that it touches. I wonder what it’s done to you.”
“The dark hold only showed me the truth. Everything I lost can be mine again.”
He calmly says “What do you want with America? What do you want with the multi-verse?”
“I’m going to leave this reality and and go to one I can be with my children.”
“Wanda your children aren’t real. You created them using magic.”
She smirks saying “That’s what every mother does. What would you do if there was a universe where you were happy. Wouldn’t you want to go?”
“I am happy.”
“But I know better than most. I know what deception looks like.”
“What you’re doing is a flagrant violation of every natural law. And if you take that child’s power, she won’t survive.”
“I don’t relish hurting anyone, Stephen. She’s not a child. She’s a supernatural being. Such raw power could reek havoc on this and other worlds. Her sacrifice would be for the greater good.”
“Well, you can kiss the lunch box goodbye because that’s the kind of justification that our enemies use.”
She narrows her eyes at him saying “Is it the kind that you used? When you gave Thanos the time stone?”
“That was a war. And I did what I had to do.”
“You break the rules and become a hero. I do and I become the enemy. That doesn’t seem fair.”
I struggle against the monster approaching me as I hurl waves of red power at it. I grumble “God I hate this universe!”
I quickly float up and shout “this sucks!”
I remove the roof off a house behind the demon or monster thing. The one with sharp horns all over it’s back. The four eyes.
Truly disgusting.
I throw myself higher in the air with a wave of power as it’s tail sweeps at me. I slip in the air as I drop the roof on it
It halts it momentarily as I look to the crowd surrounding us. I mutter “I wish mom was here.”
I hold my hands together, forming a large ball of power, the largest one I can form as the monster attempts to break through the roof I’ve temporarily spelled to not be removed from its body.
Quickly I hear the extremely loud screech as it demolishes the spell and sends me flying back, I hit the brick wall adjacent to me
Hard.
Painfully.
I groan as the power slips from my hands as I feel my eyes begin to close.
The monster screeches as it grabs my body, throwing it like a rag doll.
“Ow.” I mutter as I scramble through the air. I halt in place as I put one hand out to stop myself.
I touch my forehead, feeling the blood drip down.
Shit.
The monster suddenly stops and I look at it confused. I wave my hand in front of it, the red wave of power following my hand.
It watches and follows my hand as it goes back and forth
Woah... cool
I smile saying “Now this is better.”
It lunges at me again, causing me to scream as I tumble back. My body hitting the ground as I scramble away from its claws
Quickly I lift myself into the air, my powers not being much against the attacker
I need more lessons.
Mom didn’t get to teach me how to handle this power. It’s scary.
Intimidating.
I throw the monster on to the ground, through the cement as it claws towards me
I gasp as I press my hand to the wound it gives me on my abdomen. Ow. Ow.
It quickly lurches out of the ground, grabbing my body and throwing me across the sky. I scream and try to stop myself as I tumble through the air, but the dizziness from the blood seeping out of my wound is getting to me
I scream as I’m pierced through the stomach. I want my mom.
A blur speeds past me and I weakly struggle within it’s grasp. I slip from it’s grasp as it’s hit in the side
I catch myself as I begin to fall. I hear “Are you alright?” I look down towards the familiar voice and I freeze. I stare at my father confused
“Dad?”
Vision says “Huh?”
He slices the monster in half with the infinity stone and I shakily land
I fall to the ground as I quickly feel lightheaded. Vision lands in front of me, extending a hand and saying “You alright, Miss...?”
“Maximoff. y/n Vision-Maximoff.”
He looks to me confused and says “Pardon, miss?”
“You’re my father. I suppose in another universe or something but you’re my dad.”
His eyes widen and he says “Oh.”
I smile and say “Thanks for saving me, I could’ve handled it though.”
“Ah yes, the whole losing blood and screaming really helped you in your fight.”
I look to him angrily saying “Oh my god. I already don’t like you. You’re definitely not my dad. My dad was actually the sweetest man to exist.”
“It’s not in my emotional capacity to feel human emotions, I’m afraid.”
“Lies.”
I look down to the blood seeping out of my leg and say “Is there a Wanda Maximoff in this universe?”
He nods saying “Yes.”
I nod saying “Show me to her?”
“I suppose I could.”
He grabs my wrist, pulling me into the air. I scream as we move at a rapid speed and I heave a sigh of relief as we land on the ground safely
I shakily push him away and mutter “Definitely.. not my father.”
I look to the house confused, saying “This is where she is?”
He nods and quickly abandons me. I mutter “Thanks a lot... dad.”
I walk towards the door and knock as I feel the blood pool out of my abdomen and leg.
The door opens and I look to a dark haired version of my mom. I open my mouth to say something and she says “Hello?”
I gasp saying “Mom.”
She looks to me confused and I hear the echoing “y/n! no! run..” I look around and suddenly Wanda pulls me into the house. I watch her confused as I see the spell slip off her illusion
Dr. Strange crosses his arms in front of me and says “Good of you to join us.”
I attempt to pull out of his grasp but his capture spell holds strong. I push him saying “Let me go!”
“You’re the sole creation of the dark hold and I need your power.”
I grit my teeth saying “Where’s my mom!?”
“Dead.” he motions to Wanda in the corner and I scream “Mom!”
“She can’t hear you. She’s gone, I’ve already gathered her powers. The wonders of the darkhold. But I’m limited, not having you. Only one being in all the multiverse that is balanced through the dark hold.”
I grit my teeth as I break the capture spell saying “You’ll never get my power. Like hell I’ll let you take my power.”
“Was I asking? I thought I made it clear I don’t need to ask permission.”
I twist my fingers, whisps of power quickly growing in my hands as I gather my attack behind my back
I throw the power towards him, shouting “No means no, asshole!” I storm out of the house, only to realize I’m in a constant time loop
No... god no.
“Mom...”

Faith ~ (Insanity Part 3)
Wanda Maximoff x daughter!reader | platonic!america x reader
Description: Y/N is certain her mother isn't dead, its just a matter of finding her. But with the help of America, that should be easy.
Warnings: slight angst, some fluff between America and Y/N,
Story type: series
A/N: Here is my taglist!! I do not do series taglist at the moment, (I guess you could beg and maybe I would do them but its complicated and I woulld rather not) so you have to join the general taglists.
Masterlist
1, 2, 3, 4? (should I do a part 4?)
*GIF not mine, credit to owner*
Y/N had gone back to bed, wanting to sleep at least a little before she left in search of her mother. When she awoke the next morning she was in the middle of eating her pancakes when America came skipping in.
"Morning!" America smiles brightly at Y/N.
"Good morning. Did you sleep alright?"
"Yes! Its easier to sleep when you aren't getting chased." America laughs as she grabs a plate of pancakes for herself. She sits next to Y/N and opens the kid of the syrup with a pop. She then drowns her pancakes in the sticky liquid.
Y/N has been planning it out in her head and she thinks she has a plan. She is going to ask America to join her, even though Wanda tried to murder America.
"Can I ask you a question, Chavez?" Y/N says after gulping down a mouthful of her breakfast. America nods, curious of what her new friend will ask her.
"I am going to go find my mother. I want you to come with me. You don't have to, but I was just wondering. I know my mom tried to kill you but I promise, she is just lost. She has nothing left but me. I want her to see you and know that you forgive her. Unless you don't, which is fine I would understand." Y/N feels a lump in her throat and she swallows down tears.
A long silence overtakes the room and Y/N can only imagine what America will say. She feels her heart throbbing in her chest, it pounds so hard Y/N fears it may fly out of her chest.
"Sure." The girl says. "Maybe we'll have some fun along the way!!" She smiles, wanting to cheer up the Maximoff across the table. Y/N nods, still sad. Y/N can't help worrying that her mother is dead. America can tell that Y/N is on the verge of tears and she decides to lighten the mood. "Hey Y/N, knock knock?"
"who's there?"
"Boo." America says, trying to contain her laughter.
"Boo who?" Y/N cracks a grin.
"Don't cry, its just a joke." America then bursts into a fit of giggles at her awful attempt at humor. Y/N can't help but laugh too, thankful to have made such a good friend.
~
"Okay so all we have to do is find Wanda." America smiles awkwardly. Y/N nods, knowing this will be a difficult task.They had packed and were standing outside the sanctum. Dr Strange hadn't been to keen on the idea of them leaving, but who cares what he thinks?
"Well last we saw, she destroyed the throne thingy. So now that she is presumed dead she probably wants to go somewhere closed off and secluded. She probably didn't travel to far, its only been one night." Y/N states her thoughts out loud. America nods, rummaging through her bag for something. She finally pulls something out, a photograph. It has a picture of her and two females on it. She takes a long look at the photo before looking up at Y/N.
"We have to find Wanda. I don't want you to feel the pain I do."
"America, I'm really sorry about your mothers. Strange told me, and I'm not gonna tell you all the basic 'its not your fault' crap, I just want to say that I hope you fins them and they would be really proud of the wonderful woman you have become." Y/N tries to find the words to say to her new friend, not sure what she needs to hear. Just then, America's eyes swell with tears and she wraps her arms tightly around Y/N.
"I just need a hug." She whimpers.
~
The two girls had been searching the land for 2 days now and it was beginning to feel hopeless.
"America, I don't think we're ever gonna find her." Y/N sighs. They hadn't had a good nights rest or a good meal in what feels like ages, even though its only been a couple days, and Y/N needs to sleep. She doesn't want to give up on her mom but their going to have to figure out some better arrangements.
"Don't say that! We're going to find her, just have faith." America pleads with her friend. They had grown close over just two days.
Two days turned to two weeks, and two to four. After a month of searching they come across a cave. It isn't anything out of the ordinary, just a hole in in a mountain. But Y/N notices little red specks flying in a line, you would have to squint and look really hard to find them but somehow they were just apparent to Y/N.
"Don't go closer, my moms in there." Y/N says, cautiously examining what appears to be a force field. America finally sees the little flickering red magic and takes a step back.
"Wanda! Wanda! Please take down your magic! Wanda!" America shouts, while it is a little pointless it seems like the best option they have right now. Y/N hadn't ever imagined she would be going on searches like this and worrying about the fate of her mother like this. It all seems so surreal. Wanda was always Y/N's protector, she ahs so much love for Y/N and Y/N loved her. Now it seems crazy yo think of all the pain that Wanda caused, but what's more crazy is the pain that Wanda feels. Thanks to having faith and the help of America, they might have finally done it. Finally found Wanda.
"Mom! Its me! Its me mom! Mom! Wanda! Wanda! Mom!" Y/N calls into the lifeless void. After a few minutes of yelling Y/N decides to risk it. She begins to walk through the boundary, having to push herself through with a lot of force. Right before she pulls her head through, she calls out to America. "Stay there I'll come back for you."
And just like that Y/N was off to see her mother.

Ember Leaves au
Runaway
Series master lists
Pairing: mom Wanda at x reader
Warnings: abuse, orphan, officers, Isolation
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You quickly ran through the streets of New York as the police followed closely behind. You could hear the voice of your foster mom calling out to you as you ducked behind a wall while desperately looking for a way to lose them.
This would be the 10th time you’ve run away in the past year. You knew once they found you that you would either be put into an orphanage until you turn 18 or someone decided they wanted you.
Looking over the corner of the wall you see the officers looking around. Turning to the right you see a crowd of people yelling and looking up at the sky. Once you turn your head up you see two avengers fighting a group of people on top of a building. You instantly recognize the pair as Black Widow and the Scarlet Witch. They were your favorite out of all the avengers.
Looking back at the cops you notice that they are no longer paying attention. Taking the opportunity you quickly run passed them. Not watching where you're going you run into someone and almost fall before a red mist wraps around you and steady you.
“Woah Watch where you are going.” Black Widow says. You stand stunned in shock to say anything. Before you can even utter a word the sound of the officers catches your attention again.
As one went to grab you you quickly turned invisible and ran right past them without them noticing. Before you could get far though the red mist wraps back around you and stopped you in your tracks before overpowering your own powers and making you visible again.
Just then the officers grab your arms and before you could go to burn them the necklace was placed around your neck restricting you from using your powers.
"No, no! I don't want to go back. Leave me alone! Let me go!!" You screamed at the officers as they dragged you to the car.
Before the officers got into the car Wanda Maximoff walked up to one of them. You couldn't hear what was being said but you could see their lips moving. As you look back out the window you saw Natasha Romanoff look at you before looking back at Wanda.
Nothing else seemed to be said as they both took one glance at you before walking away hand in hand.
As the officers got in the car you looked away from them and instead stared out the window at the sky. As the car began taking off you heard the two officers talking but neither one of even acknowledged you. You've had these officers before they were their usual officers to come get you when you ran away because they knew your route best.
The woman officer Sherry gave you a sympathetic look through the mirror and then looked back at the road. The man however seem to ignore you as if you didn't exist. You fiddled with the necklace around your neck as you sighed.
"Well kid have you given up yet?" The man officer Henry asked. You said nothing as you continued to stare out the window. You knew it was waiting for you back at the orphanage; nothing good ever came to those who ran away.
As you walk into the orphanage you 're immediately stopped by Miss Lee. She gave me a stern look before shaking her head.
"You know the drill go." Was all she said. You looked at the ground not daring to look into her eyes knowing the consequences that lay ahead. With slow feet you walked towards the basement door knowing that that would be your bedroom for the next month. As you reach the door you took one last look knowing that you would only be out to go to school. Opening the door you sighed before closing it with a soft thud.
"How much do you think it costs to buy an F1 Team?"
"Papa, you can't buy Ferrari—"
"Why not? As much as I hate to admit it, I actually like your boyfriend and he seems talented enough to win a WDC, if it wasn't for the shit tractor and shit strategies," Tony said.
Tony, as much as he wanted to hate Charles, had been won over by the Monegasque. Even if Tony was rooting for Max, he wouldn't be too mad if Evie would end up being with Charles. Or, better yet, he'd be happy if she would end up with both of them.
"Tony," Pepper warned.
"I'll wear you out about the F1 Team eventually," Tony said.
"Just like you did when you asked her to marry you," Evie commented, making Pepper smile and Charles stifle a laugh out of shock from beside her.
"Okay, that's it. Your name won't be on the F1 Team when I buy Ferrari," Tony said.
"I'm a Stark, my name would be on the Team name regardless," she shot back at her father.
Before Tony could say something back, Pepper had dragged him away, leaving Charles and Evie alone. "Would your dad actually buy Ferrari," Charles questioned, making her sigh.
"Who knows at this point. Papa's got more money than he knows what to do with it and he's always wanted a team," she told Charles.
"He seemed to like you, though,"
"Really? I didn't think he knew who I was until he called me your boyfriend,"
"Trust me, he does. If he didn't like you, he wouldn't offer to buy your team. It is Tony Stark's love language; giving gifts to tell people he likes them," Evie said.
"I noticed it's also yours," Charles commented, having received a watch from her that costs more than his Pista, and he nearly dropped the watch at the sight of it.
"I suppose I do like you as well. Just a little bit though," she teased, putting her hand up and moving her pointer finger and thumb as close together as possible without touching, signifying how "little" she liked him.
"Oh, just a little bit, amor? You weren't saying that last night," Charles teased back, grabbing her waist in order to pull her close to him.
"Leclerc! Just because you're dating my daughter does not mean I should have to see you commit cannibalism on her!" Tony called out, making Sam and Bucky ooh and ahh at them like they were children.
Pepper tried stopping her husband but the people around them were already looking at Evie and Charles. Meanwhile, Steve was trying his hardest to give the couple some kind of semblance of privacy, turning around to not look at them in the eye. Wanda and Natasha were explaining to Thor and Vision that Charles wasn't actually trying to eat Evie. And Peter was trying his best to not let Morgan run away and explore.
Evie rolled her eyes, and rested her forehead on Charles' chest, groaning at the absurdity of her family. "They're your family. You love them. You love them." She chanted, trying to remember or else she might end up killing them.
We're a Family
Summary: You and Natasha are taking your first vacation since the birth of your 5-year-old daughter. While you and Natasha are off on a romantic getaway to Paris for your anniversary, how will your Avengers family handle watching your daughter for the weekend?
Pairings: Natasha Romanoff x Reader
Genre: Fluff, Comfort, Romance
Word Count: 4.3k
Warnings: Some mentions of grief.
A/N: Thank you so much for the positive feedback on Come Home to Me! I hope to keep writing as I feel inspired and have time. This story takes place after the events of Endgame. Tony survived defeating Thanos with the Snap, and Steve brought Natasha back after returning the Soul Stone to Vormir.
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” Natasha questioned for the third time that Friday morning, as you gather the last of the essentials together for your 5-year-old daughter to take to the Avengers Compound. You and Nat were taking your first vacation together since the birth of your child in celebration of your wedding anniversary. Understandably, your wife was struggling with the idea of leaving your daughter. It was all you could do to convince Natasha to drop her off at preschool, let alone leave her overnight.
“Love, we’ve talked about this. It’s only for the weekend, Mila is going to have a great time. Besides, there is nowhere safer for her to be than surrounded by Avengers. You trust them with your life”, you remind her reassuringly as you rub gentle circles on her back.
“Exactly. My life, not my child,” Nat muttered.
It had been five years since you gave birth to your and Natasha’s daughter. From the moment you both laid eyes on her your whole world changed. Soon after, Nat transitioned into semi-retirement with guidance from Clint. She was still available for daily mission consultation or if the situation was dire, but you and Mila are her number one priority now.
You heard little feet padding down the hall, as your daughter runs into your bedroom. Her red curls bounced up on down on her head “I'm ready Mommy and Mama!” Mila squealed.
“Oh, Moya Lyubov, you look so pretty! Did you dress yourself this morning?” Natasha asked, getting down to her level.
“Yes! I wanted to match Auntie Yelena!” as she showed off her mini black vest that Yelena made her for her last birthday, worn expertly over her pink tutu.
“Auntie Yelena is going to love it, sweetheart. You’re going to have so much fun with your aunts and uncles this weekend,” hugging her tight.
After packing your luggage in the car, you make the short drive to the compound. FRIDAY greets you as you exit the main elevator. “Good morning Ms. Romanoff, Ms. Y/L/N.” The team is awaiting your arrival in the common room.”
“Thank you, FRIDAY,” you replied, as Mila lets go of Natasha’s hand and runs ahead of both of you, having been here several times already in her young life.
As you enter the room, you see Wanda and Vision in the kitchen as the smell of freshly baked cookies wafts through the air. Peter and Kate are playing video games, Bucky and Sam are playing cards with Clint, and Steve is quietly reading Moby Dick.
“Little spider!” Yelena called out as she entered the room and Mila runs into her arms.
“Auntie Yelena! Do you like my outfit? I got dressed all by myself!”
“I love it malyshka, so much cooler than Mama’s outfit,” Yelena says, as she side-eyes her older sister with a smile. “We are going to have so much fun this weekend.”
“Yeah, about that”, Natasha interrupted. “Mission briefing in five.”
“Mission briefing? Love, we're going on vacation, not a stakeout.”
“Yes, but they have the most important mission of all, watching our daughter.” motioning to the group in front of you.
Your heart warms at how protective your wife is being. This is the Black Widow. A woman who would run into a collapsing building or intercept an alien invasion without batting an eye, but the moment she became a mother, everything changed. She vowed to give Mila everything she never had as a child. To break the cycle of uncertainty and pain that the Red Room forced upon her. Truthfully, you were so proud of how far Natasha had come. From growing up believing love was for children, to giving nothing but love to the both of you.
Just then Tony and Bruce entered the living room arguing over their latest nanotech calculations, with Pepper following closely behind.
“Hey, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, park it,” Natasha said.
“Ah, Rushman, wonderful to see you as always,” Tony says, winking at Nat. She rolls her eyes in response, as Tony and Bruce give you a hug before sitting down and Pepper picks up your daughter.
“Come on sweetie, do you want to go play with Morgan?” Pepper asked.
“Yay!” Mila cheered as they walk down the hall to Morgan’s room.
“Okay, some quick do’s and dont’s for this weekend. No guns, no repulsor rays, no arrows, and no using our daughter as a beta test subject for any new experiments. When Thor gets here, no Asgardian beverages in front our child. Mila’s bedtime is 7 pm and she likes it if you do the characters' voices when you read her a bedtime story. Oh, and if she has trouble falling asleep, a lullaby usually does the trick. Got it?”
“Geez, this is almost as bad as Budapest,” Clint whispered to Kate.
“It’s going to be alright Natasha,” Wanda reassured. “We’re a family. You know we would do anything for that little girl. Please, go and enjoy your anniversary. No one deserves some special alone time more than you two”, Wanda says as she hands you a tin full of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies for the trip.
You put your arm around Natasha and kiss her cheek. “Wanda is right, my love. Mila will be fine.”
Just as you complete the sentence, Mila ran back into the room. “Mommy, Mama! Morgan has Puss and Boots: The Last Wish, and we’re going to watch it tonight before bedtime.”
“That sounds like so much fun, sweetheart! I know you are going to be a good girl for your aunts and uncles and Mommy and Mama will see you on Sunday night, okay? We love you so much.” you said.
“Okay, Mommy. I love you!” She said as she hugs you so tight. Natasha knelt to kiss your daughter on the cheek and squeezed her hand three times. Their special way of saying I love you. After one last hug and kiss, you walk to the Quinjet. Tony having offered one for easy and convenient travel.
*^~^*
By the time you arrived at your hotel in Paris, it’s almost dinner time. After some sightseeing, you two enjoyed a gourmet candlelit dinner under the Parisian moon and a romantic stroll under the stars. When you got back to your room, you received a text message from Clint with a photo of your daughter asleep on her bed. Lovingly cuddled up under a blanket with Yelena.
“See, she’s okay”, you said lovingly as Natasha smiles widely at the picture of her little girl and her little sister.
As you lay in bed that night, you feel more grateful than ever to be here with the love of your life. Both of you had learned firsthand to never take anything for granted.
You were one of the lost souls left behind after the Blip. Struggling with the loss of your loved ones, you began attending Steve’s Brooklyn Support Group once a week. It was after one of those meetings that you were first introduced to the Black Widow.
Natasha hesitated at first to let anyone in. She was too scared to lose anyone else and was convinced that nothing should take away from her commitment to bring everyone back. However, she still found herself finding any excuse to attend Steve’s meetings. Whether that was to bring homemade peanut butter sandwiches for the snack table or shyly offering to give you a ride home.
You weren’t a hero or a super soldier. You didn’t remind Natasha of the guilt she carried over the last five years as the fallout from the Blip continued. You were just yourself, and that was what Natasha loved the most about you. You began to visit her at the compound, and slowly but surely the walls came down for both of you.
When she told you about the Time Heist, you didn’t want to hear it. You couldn’t comprehend the thought of losing Natasha, but you knew that she believed in her heart that she owed it to everyone they had lost to try. When Clint returned from Vormir alone and dropped to his knees, so did you. Grief overtaking you all over again.
As the Battle for Earth became inevitable, the team hid you in a safe house off the grid. Days went by and you lost track of time, stuck in your grief and unaware of what was happening. It wasn't until a knock on your door awoke you in the middle of the night that you dropped to your knees again. This time in shock at the sight of Natasha on your doorstep. Tears streaming down her face, she told you they had won. Tony defeated Thanos with the Snap, and Steve performed a miracle by bringing her back upon returning the Soul Stone to Vormir.
So much life had happened since then. You were married in a beautiful autumnal ceremony shortly after Nat returned, bought your own house, and five years ago and twelve hours of labor later, you welcomed your daughter into the world that your wife sacrificed herself to save. You couldn’t believe how much you loved them both. Fading back into the present moment, you gently move a strand of Natasha’s unbraided red hair away from her face. Her hands move effortlessly to the nape of your neck, and you lose yourself in her touch.
*^~^*
It’s Saturday morning back at the compound, and Mila is eating blueberry pancakes when Clint strolled in from his morning workout.
“Hey, squirt! Those pancakes look amazing. Did Auntie Wanda make those?” he asked, reaching for the extra plate of pancakes on the counter.
Before Mila can even respond, the plate glides quickly away from him, enveloped in Wanda’s red magic. “Auntie Wanda did make those, but they’re only for adorable little girls named Mila. Is your name Mila?” Wanda said to Clint, with a raised eyebrow.
“No”, Clint grumbled.
“Then make your own breakfast, Hawkeye,” Wanda sighed, patting him on the back.
After breakfast, Sam and Bucky take Mila outside to play. Meanwhile, Steve is in his room working on a mission report when FRIDAY interrupts his concentration. “Mr. Rogers, I’m picking up an elevated heat signature from your shield just north of your location.” Steve looked curiously out the window to see Mila giggling as she slid across the grass. She is sitting on his overturned Captain America shield pulled by a rope tied to the back of Red Wing.
“My shield is not a toy!” Steve yelled out the window.
“Oh, hey Cap! It does make a great sled, doesn’t it?” Bucky answered, pretending not to hear what his best friend said, as Sam laughs out loud.
Steve shakes his head to hide his smile. You meant the world to him, having spent countless hours processing your grief together in that dark and dank recreation room in Brooklyn. He was honored when you and Natasha asked him to be Mila’s godfather. His shield was made from Vibranium, after all. If his goddaughter wanted to play with it, he knew no harm would be done.
That afternoon, Peter arrived at the compound to work on his newest suit upgrade with Tony. Mila is engrossed in coloring at the kitchen table with Auntie Kate when Peter walks in to get a soda.
“Hey Mila, what are you up to?”
“Coloring, do you want to help us?” Mila asked happily.
Peter nodded, and for the next twenty minutes, they got lost in her Disney Princess coloring book. After adding pretty sparkles to Elsa’s Frozen dress, Mila noticed Peter’s Spider-Man suit sticking out of his bag.
“Pretty!” Mila said with wide eyes.
“You like it?” Peter asked.
“Yes, is this how you fly? Mama says you can fly!” Mila declares.
“Something like that” Peter chuckled and tousled her hair.
Down in the lab, Tony had been waiting for Peter to arrive for a half an hour. Unusual, as his protege was normally annoyingly punctual. Running out of patience, Tony asks FRIDAY for Peter’s current location.
“Mr. Parker is in the kitchen with Ms. Bishop and the young Ms. Romanoff, sir.” Tony rolls his eyes as he trudged up the stairs.
“Hey Hawkette, have you seen Peter? He was supposed to — “
Tony stopped in his tracks as he sees Peter swinging from the ceiling with Mila on his back. Kate was too busy filming the entire spectacle on her phone to notice Tony standing there.
“Wee!! Faster, Uncle Peter!” Mila shouted as Peter’s web carries them across the room to the top of the bookcase.
Tony’s eyes follow the pair around the room. Putting on his best poker face, “Okay. I won’t tell Romanoff or her better half, but if you break it, you pay for it. That includes the kid.” Tony warned.
“Sure thing, Mr. Stark” Peter giving Tony a thumbs up.
“And for God’s sake, at least put some pillows down on the floor!” Tony hollered as he walked back to his lab.
*^~^*
In the city of love, you and Natasha took a Saturday evening cruise down the Seine River. It was magical. You had seen the Musée d’Orsay, the Notre Dame Cathedral and had just reached the top of the Eiffel Tower when your phone alerted you to an incoming FaceTime from Carol. You swiped, her face appearing on the screen.
“Hey, you two, I just wanted to let you know that I’m going to be on Earth-616 tomorrow for a meeting with Fury and thought I’d drop in on my favorite couple. Wait, where are you?”
“Paris for our anniversary! Our first vacation alone in over five years. Can you believe it?” you said giddily, as Natasha puts her arms around your waist and lovingly kisses your cheek.
“Wow, that’s wonderful! Where’s your little mini-me?” Carol asked.
“With the team, actually if you’re going there anyway could you just make sure that everything is good with Mila?” Natasha inquired.
“Of course. You know you never have to ask.”
“Thank you, Carol”, you gratefully respond. We’ll be back tomorrow evening, so I’m sure we’ll see you then.” Carol gave you a mock salute, before you ended the call and put your phone back in your coat pocket.
“You look so beautiful, dorogaya. After all this time, I still can't believe you’re mine.” Nat waxed poetically, as she removed her scarf and wrapped it around your neck. Natasha could not look more beautiful in the glow of the Eiffel Tower. You decided this is the perfect moment to give her your anniversary gift. You slowly hand her the red velvet box you had snuck into your satchel. Her green eyes went wide at the sight of it.
“Detka! We said no gifts this year, this trip is gift enough.” Nat facetiously scolded.
“I know, but I still wanted to do something special for you,” you said sheepishly.
Natasha opens the box to reveal a simple and delicate gold heart locket necklace. Upon opening the pendant, she is greeted by a candid photo of all three of you. One that Clint had taken during your last visit with his family in Iowa. Nat was sitting on Clint’s front porch with a smiling Mila on her lap. You are leaning behind her with your arms wrapped lovingly around her neck. It had quickly become one of your favorite photos of your small, yet precious family.
“This is so beautiful, Moya Lyubov. Can you put it on me?”
You move Natasha’s braid away from her neck and clasped the necklace in the back. The heart locket fell directly on top of her own heart. It looked perfect on her. You're not sure who leaned in first, but your lips met in a kiss that made your stomach flutter like it was the first time. You couldn’t be happier than you were in this moment.
*^~^*
The Sunday morning sun is slowly breaking through the compound windows. Yelena was pouring your daughter a bowl of Cheerios and singing along to the sound of American Pie coming from her phone when The God of Thunder made his entrance through the Bifrost. Mila jumped and started to hide behind her Auntie Yelena, but ran toward him when she realized it’s only her Uncle Thor materializing in front of them, leaving his trademark on Pepper’s Persian rug.
“Must you do that every time? You’re becoming more of a poser than my sister.” Yelena remarked.
“Of course,” Thor said nonchalantly. “It is the only entrance fit for the God of Thunder.”
He reachesd down and lifts Mila up with one arm, “Odin’s Beard! You’ve gotten so big since the last time I saw you, Mila.” Thor declared
“I know! Did you bring me a present Uncle Thor?” Mila squealed.
“Yes! Now, let’s see here… Asgardian Ale, Mead, no… ah, here it is!” He handed the little girl a small snow globe set in gold with her name engraved elegantly on the base.
“Wow. Pretty snow globe….” Mila whispered.
“It is indeed”, Thor said, sat cross-legged on the carpet in front of the little girl. “This is a special Asgardian snow globe. Look, see the rainbow bridge inside it?” He pointed. “Most importantly Lady Mila, if you shake it, I shall be there in a flash. If ever you need me, I will be there.”
“Thank you, Uncle Thor!”, Mila said as she wrapped her arms around his neck. I’m going to show it to my Teddy Bear!” Running to her bedroom.
“You spoil her, you know”, Yelena stated with a smirk, as she began to clean up the kitchen.
“I know, but she is such a grand example of goodness and joy in such a tiny human. She deserves the world.” Thor declared.
Carol arrives shortly after lunch. After a short meeting with Fury in the conference room regarding upcoming mission targets, she finds your daughter in the compound courtyard. She is wearing her vest to match her favorite auntie, as Yelena demonstrates the newest tricks Fanny has learned.
“Roll over! Good girl, Fanny!” Yelena praised the dog. Mila takes a treat out of one of her vest pockets with her tiny hand and tosses it to the Akita.
“Well done, Mila! Before you go home tonight, I will show you what else you can hide inside those pockets,” winking at her niece.
“Fruits and veggies right, Yelena?” Carol deadpanned as Mila runs over and jumps into Captain Marvel’s arms.
“Auntie Carol! When did you get here?” Your daughter giggled.
“Just a little bit ago. I talked to your Mommy and Mama last night. They miss you so much and can’t wait to see you when they get home tonight.” Carol shared before kissing your daughter on the cheek.
*^~^*
The sun was setting on your third day in Paris. You and Natasha spent the afternoon exploring the mysteries of the Louvre. You had always wanted to see the Mona Lisa in person, and Natasha was determined to make it happen. Even if it meant pushing through a crowd of tourists who got out of the way quickly when they realized the Black Widow was the one asking them to kindly move the fuck over.
You made the short walk back to your hotel and are enjoying a plate of chocolate-covered strawberries when Natasha’s phone dinged.
Carol: Hey lovebirds, all good here. Mila is doing great and is so excited to see you when you get back. However, I have a feeling you may want to check her vest pockets when you get home for some “special” presents courtesy of Auntie Yelena. 😘
Natasha giggled, showing you the text.
“The important thing is that they’re bonding,” placing a delicate kiss on her temple.
Following Wanda’s scrumptious dinner of Chicken Paprikash, your daughter was watching Frozen II. Vision attempted to explain the science behind snowflakes to her when Tony strolled into the lounge.
“Hey, kiddo do you want to come down to the lab with me and see the new Iron Man suit the Jolly Green Giant and I are working on?”
“Yay!” Mila said excitedly, jumping up and down.
“Sir, I believe Ms. Romanoff indicated there was to be no experimenting with young Ms. Mila whilst she is in our care.”
“Relax, chrome dome. We’re just looking at the new virtual mockup.” Picking up Mila and carried her to his lab.
*^~^*
A few hours later, Natasha landed the Quinjet and takes a deep breath as she reached across the console for your hand. You both stare out at the lights of the team living quarters in the distance.
“This has been a wonderful anniversary. I love you so much,” you said. “I know it was tough for you to leave Mila for three days, but not only did we have a beautiful anniversary, but our daughter got to spend meaningful time with her family that she will always remember.” You pressed a kiss to her knuckles as Natasha caresses your cheek.
“You were right, dorogaya. This was perfect. I’m sorry I was so nervous about leaving her. I just… never thought I would have my happily ever after. That little girl and you are my everything. It breaks my heart every time I leave either one of you.”
“I know, my love”, you said quietly. Now, let’s go get our daughter and go home.”
You walked into the compound to shouting and the sound of Fanny and Lucky barking. Natasha was about to reach for her spare Widow Bites when you both heard your daughter laughing.
The two of you entered the common room to the sight of your daughter running through the compound. She was dressed in her pajamas and one of Tony’s Iron Man helmets; a can of whipped cream in her little hands. Yelena and the rest of the team are hot on her heels; puffs of whipped cream flew behind her.
Kate skidded to a stop in front of both of you. “Oh, you guys are back. Awesome! Umm, we made ice cream sundaes for dessert. Mila enjoyed hers, as you can see”, Kate motioned, breathing heavily.
Mila took her last lap around the couch when she caught sight of you and Natasha.
“Mommy, Mama! You’re here!!” she squealed, running into Natasha’s arms.
“Hi, Moya Lyubov, we missed you so much!!” Natasha said as she wraps Mila in a big hug before passing her to you to do the same.
“It looks like you had fun with your aunts and uncles this weekend,” removing the helmet and brush a red curl away from her eyes.
“I had so much fun, Mommy! I got to eat yummy food, ride a sled, fly, and Auntie Yelena helped me hide special treasures in my vest pockets. Oh, and I got a magic snow globe with my name on it!” Your daughter rambled happily.
Natasha looked at you slightly skeptical, wondering if your sweet little girl was exaggerating. With your family, you were never quite sure.
“Wow, that sounds amazing, kotyonok!” Are you ready to go home now?” Nat asked as Mila gives you her best puppy dog eyes.
“It’s okay sweetheart, we’ll come back and see everyone next weekend. Why don’t you go get your Teddy bear?” you suggested.
“I’ll help her with her things,” Yelena said, scooping up your daughter and walking to her bedroom.
“We can’t thank all of you enough for taking such good care of her. I know she would stay here forever if we let her.” You said as you move through the group hugging every one.
She is always welcome here, you two know that.” Wanda said, confident she was speaking for the entire team.
A few minutes later, Mila reappeared with her unicorn backpack and Yelena in tow carrying a couple more bags than what you dropped her off with. You shake your head, knowing full well that the team spoiled her with gifts. Natasha squatted down to Mila’s level and puts her hand lovingly on her back. “Can you say goodbye and thank you to all of your aunts and uncles, dorogaya?” she asked. Mila walked around the room and hugged everyone. It warms Natasha’s heart to see her family embrace your daughter with so much love and affection.
Mila fell asleep five minutes after you put her in her car seat. When you arrived home, Natasha carried her to her bed. She carefully set Mila down and pulled up the covers. You both place a gentle kiss on her forehead and quietly tiptoe out of her room. You make your way to your bedroom, deciding to leave the unpacking for the morning, both too jet lagged. Natasha sat up in bed reading with her glasses sliding adorably down her nose when you turned off the bathroom light and crawled into bed beside her.
“I couldn’t have asked for a more romantic anniversary, my love” you admitted as you carefully removed her glasses from her face and gently kiss her lips. “But there is nowhere I would rather be than at home with you and our beautiful daughter.”
“I couldn’t agree more,” Returning the kiss.
As Natasha starts to fall asleep, she can’t help but recall the journey that brought her here. She used to have nothing. Indoctrinated into Red Room with no free-will. A ledger soaked with blood that she wanted more than anything to wipe clean. Then came the shot Clint didn’t take, the chance that Fury did, the found family that ultimately led her to you, and the miracle that is your daughter. Her family would always be there for her, and you and Mila were happy, healthy, and safe. She was better because of it. At last, Natasha Romanoff was at peace.
Everyone was quiet as they made their way through the woods toward the hunter’s safe house. The only sound that could be heard was the crunching of leaves and sticks beneath their feet. Y/N knows it’s wrong, but she wishes she was Allison right now so she wouldn’t have to deal with everything.
Stiles doesn’t like the silence but it’s taking everything in him to break it. He’s worried that if he starts talking then he won’t be able to stop. He’s also not sure if he wants to accidentally piss off anyone who’s in charge of protecting his life.
As much as he’s annoyed at everything that has happened and that has come to light, he also can’t help but have a little fanboy moment inside his head. He’s about to head into battle with the Avengers. The last time they stormed a place he had been sidelined. Now, he’s walking through the woods, about to go into a little war with the hunters, with the Avengers suited up next to him. It’s like a dream he always had but also mixed with a nightmare he always had.
He watches Y/N from the back of the group as she and Chris lead them to the safe house. He doesn’t like that he’s been paired with Liam and Peter but it could be worse. He could be paired up with Peter Hale. He definitely wouldn’t make it out alive if that were the case.
“Are we almost there?” Peter Hale asks.
“Why? Do you have somewhere better to be?” Scott questions.
“Yes. I was thinking about asking your mother out again.”
“Wait, what?” Sam looks between Scott and Peter, confused about what he just heard. How old is this guy and why does it seem like he only hangs out with teenagers? He knows Peter is Derek’s uncle but he also dated one of these kids' mothers?
“Ignore him.” Derek rolls his eyes at his uncle. He just wants to get this over with. He’s tired of having to deal with the Argents and the Avengers. He wants to go home, wrap Y/N up in a warm blanket, and not leave their bedroom until they have to. This past week has caused him too much stress and he’s over it.
Y/N comes to a stop and waits for the others to stand around her, “We’ll split up here. Remember, Sam, Bucky, and Malia, you’ll take the right side. Kira, Natasha, and Wanda, you’ll follow them but then split off to the north side. Scott and Steve, you’re going to the left side. Stiles, Liam, and Peter, you’ll follow them. You’re in charge of killing the Anuk-ite, so good luck with that.”
Chris takes off his backpack before unzipping it and holding it out to everyone, “Everyone take a walkie-talkie. I’m sure these aren’t as advanced as some of you are used to but they’ll do. I’ve already set them to the correct channel but it’s channel 7 if you mess it up.”
“Radio in if you feel the Anuk-Ite so Stiles and them know where to go. He has the mountain ash to kill it so don’t try killing it yourself,” Y/N says while everyone grabs a walkie-talkie. “Also radio if you need help. While we have an idea of what we’re up against, there could be more and some of you have never had to fight these types of creatures before. They are very different from your space aliens.”
“Anything else?” Stiles asks.
“Yeah, don’t die.”
“How are you not a motivational speaker?”
“Okay, let’s go before they do this for another twenty minutes,” Scott says, walking away from the group to the left where Y/N told him to go. Steve presses a quick kiss to Bucky’s lips and murmurs something under his breath to him before following Scott.
“Radio in when you’re in place!” Y/N yells out to Scott.
The rest of the Avengers watch as Y/N and Stiles lock their pinky fingers and promise each other they won’t die. Y/N doesn’t know it but she’s done that since before Pepper gave her away. Anytime they’d go on a mission she’d make them promise they were going to come back. She believed that pinky promises were a binding promise and that there was no way you could break them. It’s little things like that that let them know that the girl they knew is still there, just a bit different.
“One last thing,” Y/N sticks out her hand toward Chris. Chris pulls out a bulletproof vest from his backpack and hands it to Y/N. She quickly pulls it over Stiles’ head and straps it around him before he has a chance to protest. “Just in case.”
“Why have I never been given one of these before?” Stiles scoffs.
“Just be grateful you’re getting one now. Now go.”
Chris, Derek, Peter Hale, Tony, and Y/N watch as the others run off to where they’re supposed to be.
“What else do you have in that bag?” Derek asks, eyeing the backpack in Chris’ hand.
“You don’t want to know,” Chris zips his backpack up and puts it back on his back.
“We’re in place.” Scott’s voice rings out of their walkie-talkies.
Y/N sighs as she tries to mentally prepare herself for the fight ahead, “I think I could sleep for a week after this. I’m surprised I haven't gotten a call from my boss yet saying I’m fired for being gone for so long. I swear I didn’t have this many vacation days.”
Derek moves to stand in front of Y/N to meet her eyes, “I’m sure they’ve seen the news and will understand why you haven’t been in for a while. Scott said Melissa was covering for you so I’m sure it’s fine.”
“I’ll have to get her something nice for covering for me this long.”
“And she’ll tell you that you don’t owe her anything.” Derek pulls Y/N close and presses a kiss against her forehead. He knows how stressed she is about everything because he’s also stressed about everything.
“We’re in place.” Bucky’s voice rings out from the walkie-talkies.
“How do you want us to get into the house?” Y/N turns to Tony at his question. She almost forgot the others were there with her and Derek.
“We need to wait until everyone has lured out as many hunters as possible then we fly in,” Y/N says.
“You can fly as well?” Tony’s eyebrows shoot up in shock. Did he miss something in the files Hydra made about her? Can werewolves fly?
“No, you’ll have to either carry me or I can get on your back.”
Tony goes to respond but Kira’s voice cuts him off as it rings out through the walkie-talkies, “We’re in place.”
“Okay,” Y/N looks around at Chris, Derek, Peter, and Tony, “you ready?”
Chris tightens the knife holders on his thighs and double-checks the gun in his hand, “Ready.”
“Ready,” Tony says as his suit builds around him.
“Can we finally get this over with?” Peter asks, inspecting his claws.
“I’m going to climb up into a tree until I think it’s time for us to hit the house. You should do the same.” Y/N says, looking at Tony. “I’m their biggest target and if they know where I am then they’ll forget about the others. We’ve got to hide a bit first.”
“I’ll follow you,” Tony replies.
Y/N looks back at Derek, “Be safe and kick some hunter ass. I love you.”
“I love you too,” Derek says before pressing a hard kiss on her lips, as if he’s scared he won’t see her again.
Y/N pulls away and walks over to the nearest tree, “You know what to do babe!”
Derek, Chris, and Peter watch as Y/N starts to climb up the tree and Tony flies up into the one next to her. Derek waits until he can no longer see her figure before transforming into his beta form.
“Now we can get this over with,” Derek says, letting out a loud roar to let everyone know it’s time to go and to let the hunters know they’re here.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Steve tightens the shield around his arm before looking up at the sound of a roar.
“What was that?” Peter asks, looking around making sure nothing is coming at them. He’s dealt with a lot of weird things being in the Avengers but he’s never heard something like that before.
“That was Derek,” Stiles states.
“You stay here and wait for someone to radio you,” Scott tells Stiles, Liam, and Peter.
“Where are you going?” Liam asks.
“We’re going straight towards them. Let’s go.” Scott nods at Steve to follow him.
Steve huffs a bit in frustration as he follows Scott. He doesn’t enjoy being told what to do from a teenager. If it was Y/N here, he would follow without question. She might have been for 15 years but he’d still trust her with his life.
Scott slows as he gets closer to the safe house. He can already hear a few hunters loading their guns and sharpening their knives. He listens to their panicked voices as they talk about the roar they heard and how they know they’re being attacked. If he focuses hard enough he can also hear Stiles, Liam, and Peter bickering behind them.
“Let’s stop here. We don’t want to get too close.” Scott says. “We need to lure them out here.” Scott tries to count the number of hunters standing outside of the house in front of them.
“I got it,” Steve states, throwing his shield out toward the hunters. The shield hits three hunters, knocking them to the ground, before coming back to Steve.
“That’s one way to do it,” Scott mumbles, watching as the hunters look their way. He quickly ducts behind a tree as the hunters slowly make their way towards them.
Steve ducts behind another tree as they wait for the hunters to come closer. He can hear the ground crunch behind him letting him know where they are. He waits until he can see the end of a gun before jumping out and knocking the hunter back into two others.
That’s when all hell breaks loose.
Scott jumps out from where he’s hiding as all eyes are on Steve, throwing the hunter closest to him into a tree—knocking him out. Bullets start to fly as Steve and Scott attack. Scott’s surprised he hasn’t been hit by any bullets yet as knocks out another hunter.
Steve throws his shield toward the hunter's legs, the vibranium-metal breaking their knees and shins as it hits them. He quickly knocks them out as they hit the ground one by one. It’s not long until they’ve taken out all of the hunters that attacked them.
“Is that it?” Steve asks, knocking out the last hunter.
“I doubt it. The others must have the rest of the hunters distracted or the rest of them haven’t left the safe house.” Scott says, looking around for other hunters.
“We should move in,” Steve says, moving towards the safehouse before Scott sticks out an arm to stop him.
“Not until we’re told too.”
“There’s no one over here. We should move in.”
“Not until Y/N tells us too.”
Steve doesn’t understand why they can’t just move in. They easily took out the hunters. He doesn’t understand why they were acting like they were going to be a challenge. The hunters are down on their side and they have a clear shot toward the safe house.
Scott’s head quickly turns as he starts to smell something in the air, “Do you smell that?”
“What?” Steve doesn’t know what Scott’s talking about.
“It smells like…” Scott’s voice trails off as his eyes widen as he looks behind Steve.
Steve quickly turns around to see four large creatures standing behind him. They look like men wearing bones and an animal skull for a mask. “What am I looking at?”
“Berserkers.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sam and Bucky are standing back-to-back as they fight off the hunters around them while Malia holds off more of them.
“How many of these guys are there?” Sam asks, slamming another hunter onto the ground.
“I don’t know but they’re pissing me off,” Bucky says. His arm comes up to block the bullets being shot at him from a hunter on the ground. He rips the gun out of the hunter’s hand and knocks him out with a quick kick to the face.
Bucky turns to find another hunter to attack to see the hunters fleeing from them.
“Why are they running?” Sam asks.
“Something’s coming,” Malia states, her eyes closed while trying to listen to her surroundings.
Bucky tries to listen and see if he can hear what she hears. He closes his eyes for a second. It sounds like something is running toward them. He opens his eyes and looks into the woods in front of him. Something is charging at them.
“Get down!” Bucky tackles Sam to the ground as a deer jumps out from the trees and almost tramples over them. It runs past them almost as quickly as it appeared. It looked rabid.
“What the hell?” Sam mutters, staring at where the deer ran off.
Bucky looks down to where Sam is in his arms from when he tackled him. Disgusted, he scrambles up off the ground and away from Sam.
“Did you smell that?” Malia asks.
“Robo boy’s cheap cologne? Yeah, I smelled it.” Sam says, wiping the dirt off his suit as he stands up from the ground.
“No, the deer. It smelled like fear.”
“Fear?” Bucky asks. He thought that something was running at them but what if it was actually running away from something? He slowly pulls out his walkie-talkie while his eyes dart around. “We found the Anuk-Ite.”
“On our way,” Stiles’ voice rings out from the walkie-talkies.
“Are you sure?” Sam questions Bucky.
“Yeah, I’m su–” a pained scream from the woods cuts him off. He pauses, his head whipping toward the sound.
“Bucky! Buck!” someone is screaming out for him. He moves to run into the woods but Malia moves in front of him to stop him.
“What are you doing?” Malia asks.
“Do you not hear someone screaming?!” Bucky yells, angry that she’s preventing him from finding whoever’s yelling for him. He swears it almost sounded like Steve.
“The only person screaming right now is you,” Sam says.
“What?” Bucky looks between Sam and Malia. Can they not hear what he’s hearing?
Sam stares at Bucky for a second before realizing what’s happening, “Close your eyes! Close your eyes now!”
“Why am I closing my eyes?!” Malia yells, her eyes now shut tight.
“It’s the Anuk-Ite. Whatever happens, don’t open your eyes.”
Sam, Bucky, and Malia stand still as they wait for something to happen. They’re hoping Stiles gets here soon to kill the thing.
“How could you?” Bucky quickly whips his head around, his eyes still shut tight, as Steve’s voice whispers in his ear. “Why?”
“I don’t understand…” Bucky whispers, confused about what's happening.
“I told you to finish him.” Bucky’s head whips around again. He knows that voice. It belongs to the man responsible for turning him into the Winter Soldier, Arnim Zola.
“Buck…no,” Steve’s voice whimpers. “This isn’t you.”
“You have your orders, soldier! Kill him!”
“No!”
“You can’t stop him, Steve. He’s no longer the boy you used to know. He never will be. He has always been the Winter Soldier, and he always will be.”
Bucky’s closed eyes tighten as he repeatedly mutters to himself, “This isn’t real. It’s not real.”
“Buck…” Steve’s voice is quiet. Bucky can feel a soft hand caress his cheek. It feels like Steve.
“I’ll do it.” That sounds like Y/N’s voice but harsher. It sounds like when she was pretending to be under the hunter’s and Hydra’s control.
“Ah, my perfect soldier. Always ready to do what you’re told.” Zola’s voice sounds closer than it was before.
“She’s not your soldier,” Bucky growls. Y/N will never be Hydra’s soldier.
“I think you’re forgetting who you are. Let me remind you. Longing. Rusted. Seventeen. Daybrea–”
“Shut up!”
“It’s who you are! Now, finish your mission!”
“No!” Bucky is trying to remind himself that this isn’t real but it’s getting harder too.
“Let me.” Y/N’s voice is now coming from in front of him. “Just admit it. You couldn’t save yourself, you couldn’t save me, and you couldn’t save Steve.”
“Wh-what are you talking about?”
It goes quiet. Maybe it’s over?
As Bucky brings a hand up to his face to wipe away the overwhelmed tears that were slowly falling from his eyes, he hears the sound of someone being stabbed in front of him. His body goes rigid as he hears someone start to choke—possibly on their own blood.
“Hail Hydra,” Y/N’s voice whispers in his ear.
Bucky quickly opens his eyes toward the ground in shock and confusion. His eyes move slightly in front of him to a knife sticking out of someone. Not just someone. He’d recognize that uniform anywhere. Steve.
Bucky’s eyes shoot up to Steve’s face only to be met with the glowing purple eyes of the Anuk-ite. His body immediately turned to stone.
“Buck, you still good?!” Sam calls out, unaware of what just happened. He can’t hear Bucky but he can hear Malia. She sounds like she’s apologizing to someone until she goes quiet. “Malia?”
“Malia?!” Sam can hear someone yelling for her.
“Uncle Sam?! Uncle B?!” Peter rushes into the area where Sam, Bucky, and Malia are. Liam and Stiles run in behind him.
“Oh my god…” Stiles stares at Malia’s frozen figure. She looks like a statue from Medusa’s lair in the Percy Jackson movie.
“Please tell me you’re real?” Sam asks.
“The Anuk-Ite’s gone,” Liam says.
Sam opens his eyes to see Peter staring at a Bucky statue. Stiles and Liam are also crouched down next to a Malia statue.
“What happened?” Peter turns to look at Sam.
“I-I don’t know. One second it was here and now it’s not. I’m not even sure when this happened.” Sam gestures to Bucky. Why didn’t the Anuk-Ite go for him? He could hear Bucky talking to someone—most likely whoever the Anuk-Ite wanted him to talk to—and he could hear Malia, but nothing ever happened to him.
“Now what?” Liam asks.
“They still need people attacking on this side,” Stiles says. They need people to weaken the hunters from every side.
“I can still do it but I don’t know if I can do it alone,” Sam states.
“I’ll stay,” Liam volunteers. “I can help on this side while you two get the Anuk-Ite.”
Stiles looks hesitant but agrees, “Make sure nothing happens to them.” Stiles looks between Malia and Bucky and wonders how much longer he has before their current state is permanent.
“Where do you think it went?” Peter asks.
“I don’t know.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“What the hell are these people?!” Nat yells out, barely missing the edge of the blade that swipes at her.
“They’re Oni!” Kira yells back. She’s trying to hold off four Oni while Natasha and Wanda fight the other three.
“I thought we’re supposed to be fighting hunters?!”
“I thought the same thing!” Wanda yells.
Natasha ducks as one of the Oni swings their sword at her. She’s able to remove the sword from the Oni’s hand as the sword lodges itself in the tree next to her. Nat quickly pulls the sword away from the tree and watches as the Oni pulls another sword out of nowhere.
“We’re going to die here.” Nat mumbles, readying herself to continue fighting.
As Kira blocks the Oni’s swings, she can see the glint of a weapon coming from within the trees behind them. “I think the hunters have finally decided to join them!” She hears the sound of something firing.
Wanda and Natasha turn to see several hunters running toward them. Most of them seem to be carrying guns while the others seem to be holding knives. Nat can count about thirty hunters.
“You guys take the hunters! I’ve got these guys!” Kira yells at them, her eyes starting to glow.
“You sure?!” Nat asks.
“Go!”
Wanda and Natasha break away from the Oni and charge toward the hunters. Nat throws the sword in her hand on the ground and pulls out her Glock 26s. As the hunters start to shoot at them, Wanda uses her powers to rip a tree out of the ground and throw it through the group of hunters—knocking several to the ground.
Nat ducks behind a tree as bullets fly past her. The bullets slowly come to halt as she reloads her guns. She can hear footsteps getting closer to her. It sounds like five different people are coming toward her. Nat puts one of her guns back in its holster as she takes a deep breath.
As the tip of a hunter’s gun comes into view, she grabs the front of the assault rifle while throwing her elbow into the hunter’s face. He lets go of the gun as she knocks him out with the butt of her Glock. Adjusting the assault rifle in her grip, she turns and shoots down the other four hunters.
“I thought we weren’t supposed to kill any of them?!” Wanda yells out to Nat.
“I don’t remember agreeing to that!” Natasha yells back.
Wanda throws another hunter back as she watches Nat take down more as well. Looking back at Kira, she notices a glowing figure around the young girl as she fights off the Oni.
Kira can feel her anger and frustration growing as she continues to fight. She can also feel her control starting to slip. The fox spirit around grows bigger and bigger the longer she fights.
As she feels a blade cut through her right thigh, her fox quickly grows before launching itself at the seven Oni. A blinding light shoots out as the Oni are killed, hindering the hunters. Kira can feel her fox getting more powerful with each Oni it takes out.
With her back facing the light, Natasha uses the distraction to shoot down the rest of the hunters. Looking over at Wanda, she can see her crouched behind a tree blocking the light with her hands. As the light disappears, she turns around to find Kira kneeling on the ground and no Oni around her.
“What happened?!” Nat yelled toward Kira.
“I killed them!” Kira yells back, pressing down on the wound on her leg as it starts to slowly heal.
“Why didn’t you do that earlier?!”
“I don’t really have control of it!”
“Did you have to kill all of them?” Wanda asks Natasha, looking at all of the dead hunters behind them.
“Did you want me to wait until they killed one of us?”
Wanda rolls her eyes at Nat’s response. She could’ve put them all to sleep but it’s too late for that now. She walks over to where Kira is now sitting on the ground.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. My leg should be good in just a minute.” Kira replies.
“I wonder if everybody else also has to deal with more than just hunters?” Nat mumbles, sitting down next to Kira.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sitting up high in a tree, Y/N watches as Derek, Peter, and Chris battle the hunters down below. She can hear her radio go off and Scott’s voice asking for help. It takes everything in her to not jump down and help after one hunter’s knife gets a little too close to Derek’s throat.
“Is this what you deal with here in Beacon Hills?” Tony questions, watching as more hunters seem to come out of nowhere.
“Yeah, but hunters have always been the least of our worries,” Y/N replies, her grip tightening on the tree in anger as more hunters appear. She could easily use her powers from here and take them out but then Kate would know where she is.
Tony feels at a loss for words. Watching the hunters down below, he can’t believe this is what his daughter has been with. He doesn’t know why this didn’t hit him before. He was so caught up in everything else, he hasn’t taken a step back to notice how calm she and her friends seem to be about everything.
Since the Avengers have been in Beacon Hills, they’ve dealt with hunters, Hydra, and more. He knows to an extent what Y/N dealt with when she was with Hydra, but what else has she dealt with?
Friends of hers have apparently died and he has no idea why. Was it because of hunters? Was it because of something else they’ve faced? Or was it something that has nothing to do with this little world she lives in?
Tony stares at Y/N as he thinks of something to say. He has so many things that he wants to say and so many questions he wants to ask but now is not the time.
“I can practically hear you thinking from here,” Y/N looks up and locks eyes with Tony. “I know you have a lot of questions and so do I. I don’t really know how long you’re going to be here in Beacon Hills but I’d like to start over after all of this is done.”
“We can stay as long as you want. You can come back with us too…i-if you want. I-I mean I know you’re a lot older now but we kept your rooms the same as you left them. Well, we have a cleaner that cleans them once every two weeks.”
“Rooms?”
“Yeah, one at the compound and one in our old home. We haven’t lived there since you…disappeared. I still kept it though just in case.”
“Even after you thought I was dead?”
“You’re not the only person we’ve known to be presumed dead to still very much be alive. I didn’t want to give up hope. No matter how little it became.”
Y/N doesn’t know what to say to that. She looks back down to watch the others fight off the hunters. Most of the hunters are down so now is a good time to get to Kate.
“We should go now,” Y/N looks back at Tony.
“How are we doing this?” Tony asks, not sure how to carry Y/N.
“Can I just get on your back?”
Tony flies off the tree and hovers in front of Y/N with his back turned toward her, “Let’s go.”
Y/N pulls herself away from the tree and climbs onto Tony’s back. A small smile appears on her face as it reminds her of the piggyback rides her dad, the sheriff, used to give her all the time as a kid before they lost her mom. As Tony takes off toward the safe house, she wonders if Tony or the others ever used to carry her like this when she was younger.
Y/N holds on tighter to Tony as he crashes into the middle of the house. Once Tony has landed on the ground, she hops off his back and surveys her surroundings. They landed in what appeared to be the living room but there was no one around. There’s no one shooting at them, charging at them, or even watching them. They are completely alone.
“Why is no one here?” Tony asks, his blasters ready just in case.
“I don’t know…” Looking around Y/N can see weapons and ammo everywhere. On the wall, she can see pictures of herself and all her friends. There’s even some of the Avengers. There’s a large blood stain on the floor but there is nobody. Whose blood is it?
It’s also quiet. Too quiet. If she listens in she can hear the others fighting, but it’s quiet in the house. Kate must be hiding somewhere. If there’s one thing Y/N knows about the Argents, it’s that they love a good basement moment. That’s probably where Kate is hiding out. And if she’s hiding then she knows she’s outmatched. She knows they’re losing.
As she turns to look at Tony, a body flies through the living room window. Y/N jumps back and is ready to attack until she notices who it is.
“Isaac?”
Isaac groans in pain but makes no move to get up off the floor, “Hey Y/N.”
“H-how? What?”
“Scott told me everything so we came to help.”
“We?”
As Isaac goes to answer, a girl with a crossbow steps through the broken window, “Isaac?!” She starts shooting toward something Y/N can’t see.
“Braeden?”
“Who are these people?” Tony asks Y/N.
“He’s a friend and she’s…” Y/N pauses as she thinks of a way to describe who Braeden is, “she’s a friend of Derek.”
Isaac snorts, “Yeah, a friend.”
Y/N kicks Isaac’s arm at his comment, “What’s happening out there? How’d you go through the window? Why haven’t you got up?”
“I can’t really move.”
“What do you mean?” Y/N crouches down next to Isaac in concern.
“We aren’t the only ones who know a kanima apparently.”
Y/N rolls Isaac onto his side and looks at the scratch on his neck. She can see some of the venom still dripping from the wound.
“Who else has been affected by it?” Y/N asks, laying Isaac back down on his back.
“Scott was protecting a guy on the ground with a shield when I found them,” Braeden replies, walking over to them.
Tony curses under his breath, “Should we help them?”
“Kira and two other girls are currently helping Scott.”
Y/N turns her head to the broken window as she hears a loud roar. It sounded like Scott but she’s not sure.
“Is it just the kanima they’re fighting?” Y/N asks.
“No, there’s Berserkers as well. Four of them.”
Y/N stands up and looks at Tony, “Stay here and help them. I’ve got Kate.”
“You’re not going alone,” Tony states. He’s not going to abandon his daughter. He’s here to protect her.
“They need your help more than I do. If the Kanima takes more of them down, they will all be dead. Help them.”
Tony hesitates for a moment before agreeing, “Fine, but then I’m coming back to help you.”
“Fine. I’ll probably be in the basement. At least that’s where I'm assuming she is.”
Tony looks like he’s going to hug her for a moment before flying out through the broken window. Y/N can hear when he finds the others.
“So that’s your dad huh?” Isaac says with a small smirk on his face.
Y/N rolls her eyes and huffs, “Shut up.” Her radio sparks to life and she can hear Chris Argent calling for Stiles. The Anuk-Ite must be near them. Y/N turns to Braeden, “I’ve got Kate. Make sure he stays alive.”
Y/N flicks her claws out as she checks all of the doors to see if any lead into the basement. When she opens the fourth door, she sees stairs leading down into another room. She walks down slowly until she reaches the bottom.
Looking around, the stairs seemed to have led her to a hallway instead of a room. There are four different doors and she doesn’t know what’s behind any of them. There’s a long ugly rug that runs throughout the middle of the hallway. It looks out of place in the modern-looking hallway.
She’s about to open the first door when she notices the end of the rug is flipped up as if someone tripped over it. That’s when she notices something behind it. Moving the rug with her foot, she finds an escape hatch.
Y/N bends down and opens the hatch. Not seeing anything dangerous, she jumps down into what seems to be a tunnel. Looking down at the ground, she can see a single set of footprints leading away from her.
She follows the footsteps until she gets to the end of the tunnel. She notices a small ladder leading up to another hatch. Y/N climbs up the ladder and slowly opens the hatch. It takes her a second to realize where she is. She’s next to an old lake her mom used to take her and Stiles to during the summer.
Climbing out of the tunnel, she looks around for Kate. She knows she’s here but she can’t seem to see her.
“Kate! I know you’re here!” Y/N yells out.
As she moves to look around, a bear trap snaps around her right ankle. Screaming out in pain, Y/N falls to the ground.
“I was wondering when you would show up, but I’m surprised you showed up alone.” Y/N whips her head around to see Kate slowly walking up to her with twenty other hunters and two Berserkers behind her.
Second Chance - Chapter 2
Masterlist
Warning: mention of chemotherapy and symptoms, mention of death
Word count: 3.3k
Tony held open the door for you to head back into the tower. Exhaustion was the best way to describe how you were feeling. Every part of your body was sore. To your surprise, a small body ran into your legs. You looked down at a young girl with shoulder-length brown hair and eyes identical to yours and Tony’s. “Hi,” you smiled. She blinked up at you. You could see the gears in her brain trying to figure out who you were. “You must be Princess Morgan I’ve heard so much about.” It was a little white lie. The CEO and billionaire kept their daughter out of the limelight as best as possible. But they did announce her birth. She took a step back, glancing behind you to look at her mom and dad.
“Who are you?” She asked. You smiled. Now that was a complicated question as it wasn’t a simple answer. How do you tell a child that you were her sister?
“I’m a friend of your dad's,” it wasn’t a total lie but not the full truth. You didn’t like lying to kids just because they were younger wasn’t a good enough reason to lie to them. “We haven’t seen each other in a long time.”
“Why is that?” One of the reasons you loved kids so much was their thousand and one questions. You heard hurried footsteps walking behind the younger girl. It was the Black Widow.
“Sorry, Pepper,” she said. “This little nugget is very sneaky.” She attacked Morgan’s sides which made the girl dissolve into a fit of giggles.
“Don’t worry about it Nat,” the CEO said. “We are done talking.” Morgan gasped suddenly, bringing the attention back to her.
“If you're friends with my daddy, does that make us friends?” She asked. Ah. The minds of children were so simple, you envied them.
“Do you want to be friends?” You questioned. She nodded, jumping on the balls of her feet.
“New friend, new friend. Let’s go play,” she grabbed your hand.
“Morgan,” Pepper’s voice was stern with a hint of amusement at her daughter but Morgan stopped in her tracks. “You have to ask before you drag someone off.” She sighed, dropping her hand.
“Can you play with me?” She asked. Oh, it was so hard for you to say no to little kids. You saw Pepper speak with eyes, ‘You don’t have to.’ But you nodded.
“Lead the way, Princess Morgan,” she giggled, grabbing your hand again and dragging you off.
*
Pepper watched with a fond smile on her face as the duo ran off. She was surprised by how well you handled everything. You had to be no more than 25 but you walked around with such grace and a positive outlook on the world. She looked at her husband, who has been oddly quiet since they learned of your condition. “Are you okay?” She asked, rubbing his arm. Her gentle touch seemed to snap him out of his trance.
“FRIDAY, please call all available Avengers to the conference room,” he ordered the AI. “Tell them it’s urgent.” He took off towards the conference room without another word. Natasha raised her eyebrow, questioning his odd behavior but Pepper shook her head. It was better to explain it once. She and Natasha walked to the conference room in comfortable silence. There weren’t many Avengers in the tower. Kate and America were on a mission, Yelena was in St. Petersburg, Bruce took a short trip to New Asgard, and Rhodey was in DC with Maria and Nick. Once the fight with Thanos was over, the Avengers went back home and tried to help those who came back. Her mind seemed to wander back to you. Were you part of the population that Thanos’ snapped away?
She remembered reading about Jessica’s passing. Their paths crossed once at a conference in DC and Pepper would have never guessed she had a daughter. A daughter who shared half the DNA with her own. It was a small world.
When Pepper entered the conference room Tony was already standing up front. She chose to stand next to him, offering any support she could give him. “I appreciate all of you coming on such short notice.”
“What’s going on Stark?” Steve questioned.
“It has to be serious. I’ve never seen him like this.” Sam mumbled.
“That’s because it is serious,” he snapped. The Avengers looked at each other, having a silent conversation with one another. They’ve done enough missions together to speak without saying anything. Tony sighed. “Sorry,” he apologized. “As many of you know, Y/n claims to be my daughter. Her mother and I were together before Pepper and I.”
“Where is her mother?” Bucky asked.
“Dead,” Pepper answered. “She died in a car accident a few years ago.”
“She has cancer,” Tony told the team. Pepper could hear the slight shake in his voice showing how much this was affecting him. It was a lot. A stranger showed up, claiming to be his daughter, and telling them she needs help. “Chemotherapy isn’t working anymore. She needs a bone marrow transplant if not she has 6 months to live.”
“Jesus,” Sam mumbled.
“I’m sorry, Tony,” Natasha said. “But I’m a little confused about why you called a meeting to tell us this.” Pepper was with the Black Widow on this. It made sense to tell the team all at once but she saw Tony chew on the inside of his cheek.
“My guess is Mr. Stark is going to ask if you all can see if you are a match for Miss. Easton. Only 2% of the entire population are registered bone marrow donors,” Vision said, leaning back in his chair. “It’s a 1% chance for a parent to match their child, 50% for siblings, and 29%-79% for everyone else.” Tony nodded, resting his hand on his chin.
“I’m asking a lot,” he said. “Especially to help a total stranger but I’m all she has left.”
“You're wrong, Tony,” Wanda smiled. “She has us.” Pepper looked at the Sokovian.
“I’m guessing you knew,” the CEO said. A slight blush rose on her cheeks as she nodded.
“As soon as she introduced herself. For someone so young, she’s not scared.”
*
You glanced over Morgan’s shoulder as you heard footsteps approaching. It was Pepper. “Come on, come on,” she tugged on your arm. “You have to continue the story!” All her toys were laid out in a makeshift battlefield, two sides facing each other. You smiled at the CEO before returning your attention to the young girl.
“So there they stood, the king's men facing the Swarm’s army. The king’s army were strong men who were called forth to protect their homes. But,” you picked up a stuffed animal. It was a dragon, a gift from Natasha and Bucky that Morgan informed you of. “The Swarm didn’t just have men but a dragon that breathed fire,” you noticed Pepper being more interested in the story. You set the plushie down. “The king’s hand steps forward, with the spellbound sword ready to fight the dragon. But a voice in the crowd told him to stop,” Morgan was bouncing where she sat. “The king’s daughter, Princess Phoebe stood forward and took the sword. She faced the army,” You choose one of her Barbie's as the princess, maneuvering her arm to mimic she was holding a sword over her head. “And she said, ‘I will kill the dragon and lead this army to victory. Who will join me?’ But no one stepped forward.” Morgan gasped. “The princess wasn’t worried. She knew she would have to earn the men’s trust. So, she faced the dragon,” You grabbed the plushie. “Alone.”
“What happened? Did she win?” She asked. You sighed.
“It was a long and hard fight,” you paused for dramatic effect. “She killed the dragon, led her father’s army to victory, and became the first Queen to sit on the throne of Krucia.” Morgan jumped up to her feet and cheered at your story's ending. She saw Pepper standing in the doorway.
“Mommy, did you hear?” She ran over to her, throwing her body at her legs. “The princess won! She won!” You smiled at the interaction, it made you miss your mom.
“I did,” the CEO smiled. “What do you say to Y/n?” She let go of her mother’s legs and ran back over to you. You were surprised when she hugged you tight.
“Thank you for playing with me,” you hugged her back. “Can you tell me another story?”
“Maybe tomorrow. I have to come up with another one. Now let’s clean up your toys,” the pout that formed on her face made you laugh. “If Princess Phoebe can beat a dragon you can clean up your toys,” you said, tapping her nose. She sighed but nodded. It didn’t take long for you both to put her toys away and the playroom was soon spotless.
“Morgan,” Pepper said, once the last toy was put away. “Your father wants to see you in his lab.”
“Am I in trouble?” She asked. You stifled your laughter at Pepper’s reaction, not expecting her daughter’s question.
“Did you do something to get in trouble?” Pepper countered. Morgan shrugged, skipping past her mother. You giggled, slowly standing, and ignored the ache in your body. “Not many people get her to clean up her toys. I may have to steal that story.”
“Go for it,” you said, placing your bag on your shoulder. “I have a ton of them.” You smiled. “I draw comic books,” you answered Pepper’s unasked question. “I learned that I can hold a child’s attention longer with pictures instead of words. I bet I’ve made up stories about all of you.” She laughed.
“You’ll have to show us them. I’ll show you to your room.” You followed the CEO to the elevator. She told you that she was taking you to the floor below her and Tony’s. You were grateful they were giving you a place to stay, especially with how tired you were. She must have seen it in your eyes as she rubbed your back and opened the door for you.
You were shocked, yet not surprised to see a small apartment. The door opened to a personal kitchen and a living space. Pepper walked into the living room which consisted of a dining room table, couch, and TV, and opened up the blinds to show the view of the city. “Tony knows how to spend his money for the best views,” you mumbled, walking over to the window.
“You aren’t wrong,” Pepper said, glancing over to you. “He rented out the top of the Empire State Building for date night.” You smiled.
“Romantic.” It was. If you had a partner and the money to spoil them like that you would do the same thing.
“Your room is over here,” she said, leading you down a hallway, past a small closet, and into a bedroom. It was simple. A queen-sized bed was pushed against the wall with a private bathroom and closet. “We’ll make a trip to your apartment to get your things and if you need anything ask FRIDAY. She’ll order it for you.” You nodded, sitting on the bed.
“Thank you,” you said. “I know I came here and turned everyone’s life upside down so I appreciate it.”
“Your family,” she said simply. “Besides with this group it’s the most normal thing,” you laughed which quickly turned into a yawn. “Get some sleep and come find me if you need anything.”
“Thank you, Pepper.” She smiled and left your room. When you heard the door close, you let out a slow breath. You felt a weight lifted off your shoulders on how well today went. But you knew you had to be realistic. Even though they agreed to help doesn’t mean they will be matched. It was a small percentage that Tony would be a match. There was a Plan B. It took a very long time for your doctor to convince you to reach out to the billionaire. Doctor Lucas Carpenter. He was a family friend and he had the honor to watch you grow up, something he liked to remind you every single day. So Plan B was to increase your chemo dosage and the frequency of the treatment.
You rubbed your forehead and emptied your bag onto the bed. You plugged in your phone charger and attached your phone. The pill counter you used was put on the bathroom counter and the rest of your belongings were thrown on the floor to be dealt with later. You climbed underneath the covers, taking off your beanie and throwing it on top of your bag. It wasn’t long before the exhaustion of the day caught up with you and you fell asleep.
*
“Daddy!” Morgan ran into her father’s lap. Tony had just enough time to set the swabs down before catching his youngest. “Mommy said you wanted to see me.”
“And what has Mommy said about running in my lab?” He asked. She smiled.
“But she isn’t here now.” Tony sighed, shaking his head with a soft smile on his face. The billionaire sat Morgan down on his workbench.
“I need you to use your best listening skills,” he tickled right underneath her ears. Her laughter echoed in the quiet lab. It was music to Tony’s ear and a wonderful reminder of the life he had. But it made him wonder what he missed with you. “Y/n needs our help,” he continued once her laughter calmed down.
“Help?” She repeated back to him. “Is she okay? I was just playing with her.”
“She’s sick,” Tony simply said. He wasn’t sure how to explain a topic like cancer to his youngest. He and Pepper tried to shield the darker parts of the world from Morgan and they did their best. But she was smart and knew that sometimes her daddy, aunts, and uncles had to go away to keep the world safe. “And we could help her. Do you want to try?” She nodded. He grabbed two cotton swabs, he purposely didn’t do it with the others so he could show Morgan. “I’m going to do a swab of your mouth like his,” he made sure to get the inside of both of his cheeks. Once he was done, he put it in a bag. “See simple. Are you ready?” He wasn’t going to force her to do it if he didn’t want to. She stared at the cotton swap.
“Will it hurt?” She whispered. Tony shook his head.
“It’ll just tickle,” he said. He wasn’t going to go into detail about the procedure if they were a match. They couldn’t get ahead of themselves. Morgan opened her mouth and Tony quickly swapped both of her cheeks. “There,” he sealed her sample and labeled it. “All done. Thank you, sweetheart. You're my hero.” Morgan shook her head, hugging her father.
“I’m not a superhero, Daddy, you are.” At the moment, Tony didn’t feel like one. He was angry that Jessica kept you from him. Tony kissed the top of her head.
“I love you 3000,” he whispered.
“Love you too Daddy.”
*
“Wake up, sleepyhead,” you heard a calming voice pull you out of your dream state. “Come on. We can’t sleep anymore.” You were awake but you did not want to be. Groaning, you buried your head deeper into the pillow.
“Don’t wanna,” you mumbled. Someone giggled. You opened your eyes, peeking to the side, and saw that it was Wanda. “What time is it?” You asked, flopping onto your back.
“7 o’clock,” your eyes widened. You got to the tower around 1300 and fell asleep around 1430, you did not mean to sleep for that long. “You’ve had a busy day and we wanted you to rest. But dinner is ready and you need to eat.” That was true. You had a small breakfast due to your nerves and the crackers she got you for lunch.
“Thank you,” you said, sitting up. “Give me a second and we can head down.” You walked into the bathroom, splashing cold water on your face.
“We are having lasagna,” she told you. You opened your pill container and pulled out an anti-nausea pill, just in case. “We weren’t sure what you liked.”
“That’s fine,” you stepped out of the bathroom and picked up the beanie on the ground, whipping it off before placing it on your head.
“I want you to know you don’t have to wear a beanie in front of us,” you shrugged.
“It’s second nature to wear it,” you told her as you walked out of your room and to the front door. “Most people stare at me and I get uncomfortable. So who lives on this floor?” You asked her as you waited for the elevator. Wanda explained each floor had 4 apartments and a common space to share. Peter, Kate, and America were on your floor.
“But America is usually in Kate’s room. They’ve been dating for a few months.” Cute. You were excited to meet them. When the metal doors opened, the smells hit you immediately. You scrunch your nose, hiding your disgust as you scratch your nose. It was the worst part of chemo. Not the hair loss or the fatigue, your taste buds and sense of smell changed. Going to grocery stores was a nightmare. It was a common side effect of chemotherapy and it would go away once the treatment was over. But now it was killing you especially since you loved cooking. Cooking was a way to communicate when you didn’t know the language or the way to learn about a different culture. It was a beautiful art form and it was impossible to cook when your senses were out of whack. It changed from day to day. Some foods made you nauseous but a week later it was your comfort food. It was annoying.
Natasha went to hand you a plate but you held up your hand, showing her the pill in your hand. She nodded, placing the plate on the counter. You quickly filled up a glass of water and took the pill. It was the tomato sauce and garlic that were causing your stomach to twist and turn. “Are you okay?” Tony asked. You nodded, filling up the glass.
“Worst part of chemo,” you smiled. “My sense of smell and taste gets all weird.” You put some salad on your plate and opted out of the garlic bread, which hurt because you loved garlic bread. Tony smiled sadly.
“We’ll figure it out, kid,” he said, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder. It felt a little weird, receiving comfort from a man that was missing your entire life. You placed your hand on top of yours.
“Yeah, we will.” Morgan wanted to sit next to you. So you sat next to her and Tony and Pepper on the other side of Morgan. Natasha sat in front of you with Bucky next to her. You kept out of the conversation, trying to focus on keeping the food you were eating down.
“So,” Natasha said, directing the table to you. “Tell us about yourself.” You whipped your mouth with a napkin.
“Like what my favorite color is?” You questioned with a teasing smile. Natasha rolled her eyes, mumbling under her breath, ‘Great now there are two of them.’ You laughed. “I was homeschooled until I reached college. I double majored in marine biology and mechanical engineering then I got my doctorate in marine biology. I lived on a sailboat for a little bit.”
“By yourself?” Steve questioned. You nodded, taking the last bite of your salad. You wondered if they noticed your untouched lasagna.
“Aren’t you a little young to be living on a sailboat and getting your doctorate?” You shrugged. Probably.
“I graduated college when I was 15,” you simply said, cheeks burning at their impressed looks. You didn’t like to make a big deal of your accomplishments because you knew you were lucky to have the resources to accomplish everything. But you didn’t miss the proud smile on Tony’s face. And you smiled back.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Wanda x Vision x daughter!reader
Extra pairings: Brother!billy & Brother!Tommy x Older sister!reader
notes: Thought I would write something that reflected my day today! The fire was the only thing that I made up lol
Not my gif*
I ran down the stairs, knowing what today was. Everyone in the house did.
"Emma! Emma! Emma!" Tommy raced over to me with a big smile.
"Tommy!!" I gave him a big hug and he returned it, then pulling away aggressively, telling, more like screaming that it was my birthday in my ear. Shaking my arms violently in doing so. Like you had completely forgotten.
You hadn't, thank goodness.
"Is mom and dad still asleep?" I tilt my head at him, wondering where else they would be.
"Yeah, Billy suggested waking them up, but I told him, dad taught me how to use to stove."
"And did he?" We both walked into the kitchen. Tommy going over to the pan sitting on the stove.
"Nope." Was all of his response, not looking back at me. Billy then ran in, right before I was going to make sure he wasn't burning food, Billy ran around the island, in search of something. And when he found it, he gave it a big bear hug.
"Happy Birthday Emma!" I immediately hug him back, the thought of Tommy burning something stuck in my mind.
"Thanks, Billy!" I smile at him and return to Tommy's side, looking over his shoulder at the not yet burned bacon in the sizzling pan. Billy settles on the other side, trying to see why I have a somewhat look of concern across my face.
Billy is the first to turn his head around, me and Tommy don't think anything of it.
"Are you sure," Billy runs off to the living room, leaving us behind. "you know how to cook bacon, Tommy?" The only response I get is the shrug of his shoulders, before I turn to see where Billy went off too. When I turn, I see Mom giving Billy a kiss on the head and I instantly smile, going to walk over to the pair. Wanda had her bath robe on and smiled lovingly at me, when she saw I was walking over to her.
"Happy Birthday, Emma!" She engulfs me in a hug, kissing my head and saying how much she loves me.
"Thanks, mom!" I smile at her, and she cups my face, kissing my nose gently.
"I love my baby." She says softly, pulling me in for another hug. That was the second the wood of the stairs creaked, a tell tale sign that someone - meaning Dad - was walking down the stairs.
"Dad, how do I turn the stove off?" Tommy shouted, making his presence be known to Wanda, she immediately let me go and walked off towards him, a bit panicked.
"Good Morning, family!" He said beaming, and gave me a hug and a kiss on the head. "Happy- what is this? 11th?" He questioned in a joking way.
"No, 17th, Dad." I smirked and laughed at him, he chuckled and walked off into the kitchen. Wanda was lecturing Tommy on using the stove without an adult around and not being allowed to use the stove without Mom or Dad with him. I turned around and sat next to Billy on the couch.
"Tommy's getting a talking to."
"He always is."
"Not as much as you, weirdo." He hits my arm.
"Nu, uh-" He was on the verge of going off.
"I'm joking, just joking, Minecraft man." I say looking around for a controller so I could join him in the survival game. Seconds later the fire alarm is blaring and Wanda and Vision are yelling about turning it off, and stopping the small fire on the stove. Birthday's were always fun at your house, even if they got chaotic...
Don’t Blame Me
Warnings: MoM-Civil War-Infinity War-Endgame spoilers, character death, mentions of going crazy, killing, slight cursing, let me know if I missed any :)
Pairings: Wanda Maximoff x daughter reader, Vision x daughter reader
*not my gif*
Summary: You were gone- and Wanda would do anything to get you back
A/N: The bolded and italicized are song lyrics; the italicized are past events; Maybe I’ll do a part 2 following the events of the rest of MoM??
Inspired By: Don’t Blame Me by: Taylor Swift
Please don’t plagiarize my work, you may reblog if you like but I’m asking that you don’t steal my hard work
Don’t blame me, love made me crazy
A few months ago, Wanda Maximoff would never have even dreamed of finding herself doing what she was about to do.
A few months ago, Wanda Maximoff felt like the happiest woman on earth.
A few months ago, Wanda Maximoff hadn’t yet fought Thanos, who hadn’t yet invaded the planet to carry out his plan of bringing balance to the universe.
A few months ago, Wanda Maximoff's family was still alive.
A few months ago, Wanda Maximoff had never felt sorrow as deep as she felt every day that she woke up without them.
A few months ago, Wanda Maximoff would not have done the things she had done- was about to do.
If it doesn’t, you ain’t doing it right
She looked down at her trembling hands that were firmly clamped around the silver picture frame.
She couldn’t help the sharp intake of breath that occurred every time she caught a glimpse of the photo protected inside.
The most beautiful moment captured in time.
After the Civil War where she lost against Tony, Vision had offered to keep an eye on her, he had not planned on falling deeply in love and then be on the run together.
Neither one of them expected the baby, but they treasured it nonetheless.
They treasured you.
Finally forcing her eyes fully down, she took in the sight.
You were ten years old in the picture- having inherited special abilities from your parents that included fast aging at will- and you were in midair, legs spread out in a sideways split. You had the largest and goofiest grin on your face as your hair flew in every which way and your hands spread out as far as you could reach them.
Vision was sitting on the couch you had jumped off of, looking up at you with a loving smile and playful glint in his eyes.
Wanda sat on the other side of the couch, head buried in her hands. But even that didn’t stop the small smile on her face from showing.
Only seconds before that was taken, she had begged you to sit still and take a nice picture with her and your father, and you had promised. With her not knowing you had your fingers crossed behind your back, of course.
Lord, save me, my drug is my baby
Quickly reaching a hand up to rub away a stray tear that had begun wandering down her face, Wanda tried to collect herself once more.
Gently setting the frame down on the table, she took one last longing look at it before forcing her eyes away and ordering her body to move out of the room.
The Darkhold floated in the middle of the living room, just above the coffee table, black mist swirling around it like a second skin.
When she had been forced to free Westview and once again watch her family be ripped away from her, the book of the damned was the only thing keeping her semi grounded.
It was there to fill a dark void with something even darker, something that helped the pain go away momentarily. It gave her hope for a better life. One she could spend with her husband and daughter, without ever watching them be so cruelly taken away from her again.
Wanda didn’t know what she would have done without the book, where she would have ended up. But none of that mattered, because she had the book, and she was damn sure that she would be getting her family back.
I’ll be usin’ for the rest of my life
You had told her that you had been ready, that she didn’t need to worry about you.
“I am a Maximoff, after all.” You had told her when she tried to convince you not to come to Wakanda with her and her husband.
Vision had simply put a hand on her shoulder, giving her a look so full of love that Wanda’s heart would still swell to the day at the mere thought of it, “She is ready, darling. In fact, she was born for it.”
He had thrown a playful wink at you at the end of that sentence.
So with a defeated sigh, your mother gave in and gave you her permission to accompany her to Wakanda to try and save the world. Something that made fourteen year old you very happy.
I’ve been breakin’ hearts a long time
With the very last of her energy drained, Wanda had fallen to the ground in a heap, a gut wrenching sob escaping from the back of her throat as she looked over at Vision.
“Mom?” Your voice called from somewhere in the trees, to which the woman’s head snapped up, “Dad?”
As your form came into sight, Wanda quickly tried to scramble up, “No, no, no! Baby! Stay there!”
But you didn’t listen, eyebrows furrowing as you looked at her and came closer, “Mom? What’s wrong?”
Then your eyes landed on your father.
All of the color immediately drained from your face, “Dad?” You had called out hastily, rushing past your mom and over to his now gray body.
Once you got close enough to fully see everything, you let out a terrible shriek, hands flying up to cover your mouth as you took stumbling steps backwards.
Wanda was finally able to fully stand up, and she didn’t miss a single second rushing over and scooping your into a hug, cradling your head against her shoulder.
But you harshly pushed her away, “What happened?” You choked out, eyes already turning red from the tears running down your face.
A lump caught in her throat, “I had to-“ At that point she didn’t know if she was trying to convince herself or you.
“You did this?”
Those three words broke Wanda more then anything ever could.
The look of horror and betrayal and down right sacredness on your face was enough to haunt your mothers dreams forever.
“Baby, you don’t understand-“ She tried to take stumbling steps towards you.
But for every one that she took, you took two back.
“HOW COULD YOU!” You screamed, not caring if the entire world hear you, “HOW COULD YOU DO-“ You were cut off before you could finish your sentence.
Your eyes widened as you looked down at your hand, slowly disintegrating before your very eyes.
“No.” Your mother breathed out in horror, trying again to come closer to you.
“No!” You shrieked back, jerking your whole body backwards as if she had just kicked you in the ribs.
Even in your last moments you didn’t want to be near her.
She was forced to watch from a far as you- her only daughter and the person she loved most in the world- disappeared before her very eyes. And there was nothing she could do about it.
The universe seemed to want to punish her, letting her sink to her knees and she let out a deafening scream before crying harder than she ever had before.
It took two minuets for death to take her, too.
Two of the most agonizing moments of her life.
And toyin’ with them older guys
With a deep breath, Wanda blinked hard as if to rid herself of the memories. The memories that turned her life into a nightmare.
A muffled cry brought her eyes away from the book, and they slowly dragged over to the corner of the room, where a man sat with his hands and feet bound together, a rag over his mouth, and tears coming out of his eyes.
Just a day ago, he had been a simple mailman who had made the mistake of accidently peering through the window when he heard a loud noise and witnessing one of Wanda’s breakdowns as she trashed the house out of sheer agony.
Of course she couldn’t let him leave, so she brought him in and let him watch as she put the whole place back in order without ever lifting a finger.
She took slow and almost teasing steps towards the man before gently bringing a hand to cup the side of his face, “It’s okay.” She reassured softly, wiping a tear off his cheek, “I am about to make everything okay again. And you will be able to witness it.”
The man couldn’t even tell if she was trying to convince him of that or herself. But all he knew was that she was crazy.
A glare automatically hardened on Maximoff’s face, “Crazy?” Her thick accent was clearly shown through her anger, “You think I’m crazy?”
His eyes widened and he fiercely shook his head back and forth, not understanding how she knew. But being terrified nonetheless.
“I am not crazy,” She said slowly, bringing her other hand onto the other side of his face, her grip tightening, “I am a mother.”
A sickening snap was heard before the man’s body fell into a limp pile on the floor.
Just playthings for me to use
Wanda sighed, shaking her head disapprovingly down at him, “You could have gone home soon, but you just didn’t have an open mind.”
“I am not crazy.” She repeated to herself, not even sparing the man another glance as she turned on her heel and made her way out of the room, “I am doing this for my daughter.”
It hadn’t even taken a day of you being gone for it to really hit her. For everything to start reminding her of you.
Like her car, the one that you used when you were first learning how to drive. Or how the sky looked at your favorite time of day. She couldn’t fathom eating your favorite meal, nor would she watch any of your favorite movies or tv shows.
There was nothing she could seem to do to escape your spirit. In every room she stepped in. On every piece of furniture. Everything.
Something happened for the first time, in the darkest little paradise
She needed you. More than anything in the world she needed you back.
You had died yet again right before her eyes and there was nothing she could do to stop it. For the second time.
When everybody had been brought back into reality, it was as if barely a moment passed from all of those resurrected. Including you, so there wasn’t exactly a happy ‘reunion’ between you and your mother.
She was the reason your father was dead.
But nevertheless, you both put whatever was going on aside so that you could finally end everything. Beat Thanos.
And you did. But at a terrible cost.
Right before Tony had snapped his fingers, Thanos himself had gotten a hold of you, and drove his sword through your body without a second thought.
Wanda wasn’t the only heartbroken person filled with soul shattering sorrow. All of the avengers- your friends and family- had to witness you dying in front of them as well.
And then three weeks passed.
Three long, terrible weeks. The weeks before she found Westview.
And in those weeks, Wanda could feel her magic growing stronger and stronger because of her overwhelming storm emotions.
She couldn’t exactly tell how it happened, but one moment she was sobbing on the ground, and the next she was in a beautiful home with the love of her life and their daughter staring back at her.
It was a miracle.
Shakin, pacin, I just need you
“Come and catch me, mom!” You cheered with a laugh, throwing the door open and hurling yourself into the backyard.
Wanda felt herself let out a laugh as she jogged steadily after you, “Aren’t you a little old to be playing these games?”
You looked over your shoulder with a grin, “Never!”
What you hadn’t realized as you looked away though, was your father standing right before you, catching you in his arms before you could run anymore.
He looked down at you with a loving smile, “Now, what do we have here?”
You did you best to wiggle out of his strong grip in between giggles, “Dad! Let me go! Mom’s gonna try and get me!”
“Too late.” You heard her teasing voice behind you mere seconds before her hands attacked your sides in tickles, prompting laughs out of you as you wriggled around even more.
“N-No!” You protested in between fits of giggles.
Wanda couldn’t help but smile at the sight of her family. Together and happy once again.
And it was at that moment that she knew that she would do anything to preserve that happiness. No matter the cost.
For you, I would cross the line
She reached down and stroked the side of your head gently, pushing your hair behind your ears in slow movements so as to not wake you.
Things had begun to get complicated in Westview.
There were people- bad people- trying to take her family away from her once again. And she would not let that happen.
She would be damned if she let her little girl be ripped out of her life once again. She didn’t know if she would be able to survive it again.
And then there was her loyal husband. He had clearly begun to suspect something was happening, and she could not have that.
With the smallest and softest of sighs, Wanda forced her hand to move away from you and she stood up.
She was going to have a talk with whoever was responsible for what was going on in her town, and let them know what would happen if they didn’t leave.
Stealing one last glance back at your sleeping form, she closed your door softly behind her.
I would waste my time
“Come on, baby, I have to go.” Though she said it, Wanda had no agitation in her voice. She could never be mad at you.
“But mom!” You whined, reaching a lazy hand over the couch, not getting up from your lying position, “It’s supposed to be girls night!”
She sighed, running a hand up and down your arm reassuringly, “I know, honey, but there’s this errand I need to run really quickly for Auntie Agnes.”
You sighed, “I didn’t want to have to do this mom.”
Her eyes quickly widened and she dropped your arm, backing up, “No! No! Don’t you dare, young lady!” She warned.
You paid her no mind as you looked back up at her, your best puppy dog face on display for her to see.
By the time she slapped a hand over her eyes, it was too late, the damage was already done. She had seen her greatest weakness.
A groan escaped her, “Fine, fine!” She relented, moving back around the couch and plopping down next to you, lifting your head onto her lap gently, “But only for a few minutes.” She said sternly.
You let out a cheer as a smile bloomed on your lips, cuddling deeper into her side as you sighed in contempt.
Wanda let out a chuckle, bending down to place a kiss on the crown of your head, “The things I do for you.”
I would lose my mind
She shook her head once. Twice. Three times.
All of them were sharp and almost violent. Trying to get rid of something that wasn’t physically there. Trying to get rid of whatever feelings she could sense bubbling up inside of her. Whether it be guilt or sorrow- she couldn’t even tell at this point.
“I’m not crazy.” She repeated once more- brokenly.
They say, “She’s gone too far this time”
Stephan would try to stop her- others too, no doubt.
But they were all mere obstacles in her way. Nothing that couldn’t be thrown aside.
Wanda wouldn’t let him- or anybody- get in the way of her happiness. She had already given it up far more times than was fair to any one person.
She shouldn’t have to endure it any longer. She shouldn’t have to be the only person who’s only source to a meaningful life was denied.
Why should she be the only one to suffer when everybody else got back what they lost in the snap?
Don’t blame me, love made me crazy
“I did what I had to do.” Wanda whispered, practically cowering back from the horrified look you were giving her.
“What-how can I be here if I died?” You demanded, shock taking over every cell in your body as you were unable to comprehend exactly what you had just unearthed.
“I hadn’t meant for it to happen,” Your mother desperately tried to explain, “But it was a blessing- I have you and your father back now. We can all be together again.”
You shook your head, taking a stumbling step back in a manner that reminded her far too much of that day within the trees of Wakanda.
“I’m sorry.” Was all she whispered before closing the distance between you with two large strides, and she gently placed her hands on either side of her face.
The panic on your features quickly disappeared as her eyes glowed the same red that was coming out of her fingertips, and instead a confused look overcame you.
“Mom?” You asked, “What happened?”
She smiled softly, dropping her hands, “You were getting a headache, I took it away.”
You smiled at her, “Thank you.”
“Anything for you.” And she meant it.
If it doesn’t, you ain’t doing it right
Oh, how she longed to wrap her arms around you once more. Reassure you that everything was okay, become happy once more. Give you the long life full of joy that you deserved.
The life that you had been robbed of.
No matter what happened today, she had every intention of giving you that chance once again.
Lord, save me, my drug is my baby
Feeling the power of the book of the damned lingering around the room had suddenly become dizzying, and Wanda found herself stumbling her way into the bathroom.
There, she practically fell against the counter as she gripped the cool material, eyes finding themselves in the old and slightly cracked mirror above the sink.
There were dark bags under her eyes and her cheeks had sunken in to an unhealthy level. She hadn’t rested a full night or eaten a full meal since Westview.
And while her magic had become more and more powerful, it also took more and more energy out of her every time she used it, resulting in the other half of how sickly she looked.
I’ll be usin’ for the rest of my life
It was too late now, there was no going back. Even after she was able to get you back, she didn’t think she would ever be able to give up the book of the damned entirely.
She needed it. Just as much as she needed you.
Don’t blame me, love made me crazy
“How about this?” Wanda asked in delight, doing a small twirl and striking a pose to show you the full outfit.
You hid a giggle behind your hands, “You look-“ You cut yourself off when you couldn’t take it anymore and your giggles turned into full blown laughter.
Your mother let out a huff of air, crossing her arms, “Fine, not the black cat then.”
Stifling the rest of your laughter, you sobered up and smiled slightly as you said, “Mom, it’s Halloween, wear something fun.”
She jutted out her lip as she pouted a little bit, “I thought a black car was fun.”
The smile turned into a teasing smirk, “Just like you thought the alien and weird pirate were fun? And the-“
She scowled, cutting you off, “Fine, fine, I get your point.”
With a long breath, you pushed yourself off the bed and made your way into your mothers endless closet, “How about this?” You asked, picking up a red outfit.
Wanda’s eyes lit up, “A Sokovian fortune teller!” She immediately exclaimed, an idea already formulating in her head.
If it doesn’t, you ain’t doing it right
The sound of laughter from two different people bounced off the walls as Wanda entered her household, a smile tugging on her lips once it reached her ears.
Silently, she crept through rooms and peaked her head through the door of the kitchen, searching for the source.
There, was the sight of you and Vision standing in the kitchen with mixing bowls and ingredients that looked like everything needed to make chocolate chip cookies.
Her smile softened and she closed the door gently with a click, leaving the two of you to it.
Lord, save me, my drug is my baby
The sound of a crash sent Wanda’s eyes flying open, and panic immediately ensued.
Her head whipped from side to side, only for them to narrow in on the television, the source of the noise.
The tension in her body immediately relaxed and she slumped back against the couch, for the first time becoming aware of the extra weight against her lap.
Allowing her head to turn down, her entire expression softened when she saw you leaning your head against her, breathing even in a way that told her you were asleep.
On the other side of you was your father, his arm around you, even as he too slept through the movie.
She didn’t even lift a hand as she used her powers to turn the movie off, kissing the top of your head softly before resting her head on yours and closing her eyes again.
I’ll be usin’ for the rest of my life
Wanda’s eyes once again closed tightly and she shook her head back and forth, ridding herself of those thoughts- those memories.
They weren’t going to help her find you.
Some small part of her cried- screamed- at her that you weren’t going to be the same.
You weren’t going to be the daughter that she remembered. Just like you weren’t the same after the snap, or even in Westview. They were all just versions of you- versions that she created.
And this other you in another multiverse was most definitely not going to be you, she shouldn’t even-
No.
She had to stop, this was going to be you. And she would have you back in her arms, and the two of you would be happy once more.
And once she was able to get you and make sure you were okay and safe, she would then go for Vis.
She knew he would understand. The need to make sure their daughter was okay before she could even think about saving him.
But she would, and everything would be well again.
I've got a request. Not really sure about the details, but I'm sure you could work that out, being the amazing writer that you are :)
It's a really vague idea, I guess, but something along the lines of wanda being a fallen angel who has sided with heaven, and Nat being a fallen angel who has sided with hell. They both fall for Fem! Reader and try to get them to support their respective sides
Let me know if this isn't something you're comfortable with writing. Thank you so much :)
YOUR DECISION
PAIRINGS: Wanda Maximoff x reader, Natasha Romanoff x reader
WORD COUNT: 2,704
WARNINGS: R cheating (not really), making out, “bad boy” Nat, church girl!Wanda, self-homophobia, hidden relationships, Wanda cheating on vision, love affairs, love triangle, small sexual themes, think that’s all :)
NO ONE IS PERMITTED TO STEAL, COPY, OR REBLOG MY WORK AS THEIR OWN!!
“C’mon, can’t you stay the night just this once?” The redhead begged, holding your hand in order to keep you close. She tried pulling you closer to no avail as you started gathering your clothes.
“You know I can’t, Nat.” She groaned, flopping back on the bed and exposing part of her nude body. You bit your lip, forcing your gaze off of her before you did end up listening to her.
“My parents think I’m still at the library, they’ll be pissed if they find out I’m here.” Nat wasn’t known greatly around the area, mainly for her delinquent acts that got her into multiple jail cells. In your eyes, she was just misunderstood, nobody saw the side of her that you did. She was soft, a sweetheart who just wanted to find her person, but she already knew that person was you.
But then there was Wanda, the priest's daughter and your childhood best friend. You knew of her feelings for you, yet you tried to deny they existed. You liked her in more ways that you wish you did, but she wasn’t out yet, and she probably never would be. And she had a boyfriend, Vision. She didn’t seem to have a true interest in him, only one that she’d make up and exaggerate so someone would believe her when she said she loves him.
“Just tell them you’re sleeping over a friend’s. Tell them it’s Wanda, aren’t you guys like, I don’t know, best friends?” She pulled you down to sit on her lap, her hands holding you close by your waist. You smiled down at her and debated the option in your mind, was it worth the risk? Anything was worth it when it came to her, but you truly couldn’t stay.
“I wish I could, I do.” She pouted playfully, soon feeling your fingers turning her lips upward.
“Turn that frown upside down, I want to see you smile.” She gripped you just a bit tighter, hoping to keep you in her grasp forever.
“How am I supposed to be happy when you’re leaving me?” You rolled your eyes at her antics, slapping her shoulder with no real indication to cause pain. She threw an overplayed gasp your way in response.
“How about this, I go home tonight, but next weekend I’ll convince my parents to let me stay the night at a ‘friends’ house?” Your statement seemed to bring her slight joy as a grin made its way to her face. She leaned in to kiss you, muttering words between each one.
“As long as I have you, baby.” You got home with multiple different texts from two women: Wanda and Natasha. The redhead was telling you how much she missed you already and how she couldn’t wait to see you again while Wanda had been asking why you weren’t answering her calls. You sighed, running your fingers through your hair as you decided to ring the woman, hearing her voice on the other end of the line only seconds after.
“Where have you been?! I’ve been calling you for an hour!”
“Relax, I was at the library.” You could tell she didn’t believe you, you were best friends after all, she knew every lie you told.
“You know lying is a sin, Y/N.” She teased, and you could hear the sound of her clothes hitting the floor. She was most likely changing, yet you couldn’t help the less innocent thoughts from approaching.
“Were you with Nat again?” She knew of your unlabeled relationship with the troublemaker and openly expressed her hatred towards it. But you didn’t care to listen, too drunk on her love to think of anything else. You were first using her as a way to get over Wanda, but then you caught feelings. Nat made hers pretty obvious, she wanted something with you, a real relationship where she could hold your hand in public and kiss you whenever, but you were both waiting for the time to be right.
“I shouldn’t even ask at this point, you’re already always there.” You could sense the annoyance floating through her voice and groaned internally. You couldn’t deal with this right now, you just wanted to get home and relax. It was dark out and you continued to look each way in fear, your legs quickening in speed the colder you felt.
“Please don’t say that, you know it’s not true.” She ended the call after a small ‘whatever’ and it dawned on you just how frustrated she seemed. It wasn’t your fault she couldn’t come to terms with herself, you were just moving on. And if she didn’t want to accept that then she didn’t have to, but you were happy with Nat, even if you didn't exactly know what you two were, it still brought excitement whenever you’d see her or touch her. Her soft skin against yours just felt right, you didn’t have a word to explain it other than that, everything just seemed to make sense when you were with her.
Your parents were instantly questioning you once you got home, but you just shut them down with the fact that finals were headed your way. They seem to understand and let you go with a deep sigh, not fully believing your hidden lie.
You decided to finally check your phone after multiple unanswered texts made their way to your screen. A small smile seemed to form on your face when reading all that Nat had to say, you didn’t understand how she and her family were known as the ‘devil of the town’ when she was so loving. All she ever did was care for you, she had changed from her old ways and turned into something so amazing and kind, yet it was reserved only for you.
“Yes, Nat?” You dragged out, resting your phone on the bedside table as you started to rid yourself of your clothing. You grabbed the shirt she had given you a few weeks back, it was a bit large and you loved it. You then put on a pair of boxers and turned off your lights before laying down in bed, feeling all of your tense muscles start to ease.
“I missed you, baby.” You chuckled and earned a groan on the other end of the line.
“Don’t laugh at me, my bed is so cold without you.” The rest of your two hours were spent quietly giggling and talking with the redhead before you fell into a deep sleep, being unable to hear the words whispered out of Nat’s mouth. She was content, all she ever wanted was you, even if she used horrid ways of showing it in the past.
“Why do you look so tired?” Wanda asked you the next morning when taking notice of your eye bags and occasional yawns. You turned to look at her, removing your attention from the man on the podium and locking it onto her.
“Couldn’t sleep.” You whispered. You hated lying to the woman, but you knew it would just bring more vexation if you were to tell the truth. She could tell there was more, but she held back. There was no point in pushing if she’d receive nothing in return.
The next hour dragged on painfully long with Wanda’s worries only continuing. She just wanted your attention the way she used to, yet yours was on another. Nat wasn’t good for you but she was, she just didn’t seem to understand how deep your love for her went.
“Wanda, wait.” You called out after the ceremony, watching her grab her things as she was rushing to her car. She turned to look at you, urging you to go on the closer you got to her.
“Can I talk to you? Alone?” You were surrounded by no one, seeming as most parents and their children were forced to keep conversation with the other towns folk. She didn’t speak, only giving you a curt nod before opening the back door. She came with her parents just like she had done for her entire 19 years of living. It was just easier.
She signaled for you to get in and you did, following behind her as she smoothed out her dress on the seat.
“Mom and Dad should be out soon, they won’t mind if you come over.” Her parents loved you, even taking to ask where you had been ever since the distance between you and Wanda grew. You wanted to see the woman, but it seemed as though she didn’t want to see you.
“Hey, Y/N! We were wondering where you’ve been!” Her mother cheerfully pitched with a smile that you shared. A small conversation grew between the three of you, yet the daughter stayed silenced. Even when you arrived at your destination her mouth didn’t open. It wasn’t until she opened her bedroom door for you both that she finally spoke, it felt relaxing to finally hear her voice in person again. It felt like forever since you did, even if it was only a few minutes.
“So, what did you want to talk about?” She refused to look at you, knowing it would be too hard on her.
“I think you know, Wands.” The nickname brought a saddened smile to her face that quivered, it was one full of memories and lost time.
“I know you found out months ago about my feelings for you, but I didn’t think it would ruin our friendship.” You stalked behind her, noticing the nervous twitching of the rings on her fingers. You grabbed them, interlacing your hand with hers as she released a deep breath.
“I’m not mad at you for that.” You turned her around gently so she would face you, the soft features on her face bringing a longing that you wished to fill.
“Then what is it? Tell me what I did wrong so I can fix this, so I can fix us.” You wanted her to admit the feelings she had been harboring for so long, it had been gnawing at her for months, even before she knew of your shared love.
“Please, Wanda. I love you too much to lose you.” You begged, and it nearly brought tears to the woman’s eyes. The same eyes you found yourself often lost in, just admiring her beauty that you cherished greatly.
“I’m not mad at you for liking me, I’m upset because you never did anything.” She finally spoke so quietly that you almost didn’t hear her. Even with your knowledge of her growing crush, the words still sent shivers down your spine and caused your face to falter.
“I-“
“Please don’t say anything, this is already embarrassing enough.” For a split second, you worried over the possibility of her parents barging in, but it soon faded the closer you got to Wanda. She tried to scurry out of your hold, only to feel your arms on her waist, locking her in place.
“Look at me. Please look at me, sweetheart.” She couldn’t meet your eyes without taking notice of your lips that were nearly begging to be pecked. She wanted to be the one to do so, and knowing Nat was instead only caused more jealousy to rise to the surface. Her high school bully, the woman who tormented her every move and every step, the one who sent her crying into your arms was now the one holding you; how was that fair? Every aspect of her life was taken from none other than Natasha Romanoff, now she was stealing her one true love as well, and she couldn’t let that be. She couldn’t let you kiss her, hold her, make love to her without you knowing that she could be the replacement, that she had been aching to be yours since she met you.
She didn’t understand the thoughts at the time, but that all changed when she was allowed access to the internet. She was scared to search for the reasoning, afraid her parents might catch sighting and discipline her for her curiosity. Although, the results only brought more shame than her mother or father ever could, she liked you. And not the type most friends felt for one another, the type she was supposed to feel with a man yet felt for a woman.
“I’m sorry..”
“No, no, you don’t need to apologize. Come here.” You ushered her into a hug full of warmth, but fear was hidden beneath her barriers.
When she leaned back unwillingly, the only thing her vision could take notice of was your slightly parted lips that called her name.
“I don’t know why I feel this way, but is it bad to say I like it?” While it brought pain and sadness along with harsh reality, it felt comforting whenever she was with you. She wanted your love, but she wanted more than that. She wanted your heart, your attention, yet she felt selfish for wanting it.
“No, it’s completely normal. You can’t help who you feel, Wanda, and I would never shame you for that.” You brushed her hair behind her ear, sending a warm smile that did little to stop her. She couldn’t help it now.
Her lips had a mind of their own when they met with yours, and while you wanted nothing more than to give in and bathe in her presence, you knew you couldn’t. You leaned back, causing the woman to chase after you.
“Wanda, we can’t.”
“Why not?” She forced out rather loudly. She was the one to pull you close this time, hoping and praying that you’d listen to your heart instead of your mind, she could only hope your heart was beating for her.
“You have a boyfriend-“
“I don’t love him though, I’ve been planning to break up with him but I didn’t know how.” She argued, smiling slightly when she noticed your sight landing on her own chapstick-covered lips.
“What about Nat?”
“You two aren’t together officially, you’re allowed to speak to other people.” You both knew the lie in her words, but you were both so desperately trying to believe them.
“What if you regret it?”
“I never regret anything when I’m with you.” You paused in your tracks, letting her hand rest on your cheek as she checked the door one last time.
“This is wrong-“
“Then why does it feel so right?” You couldn’t stop your mouth from pressing against hers with hunger and desire. Your thumb drew circles against her side as the tension in her muscles lowered, her brain shutting down and her lips moving according to yours.
“I love you, Y/N.” She muttered against your lips before diving back in for more.
“I love you too, Wands.” You followed, letting the two of you sit on the bed as you forced yourself to let go and dwell in the comfort of your best friend.
Later that evening when you left the home, a smile planted on your face as you waved your goodbye’s to the family, sharing a small glance with the redhead before closing the door behind you, you were immediately hit with the guilt of your actions. Nat had been texting you, begging for you to visit her due to how badly she missed you. There were at least ten messages along with three missed calls, her fears only rising as she knew you’d never leave your phone unattended.
“I love you, my beautiful girl.” Read one of her texts, and it pained you to acknowledge the fact that she knew nothing of your shared activities with the other woman.
“I love you more, Nat.” You wrote back once easing her worries, but developing more of your own. You loved both women equally. Even if Natasha had a bad past, you still loved her. And even if Wanda refused to come to terms with herself, you still loved her. How could you ever face them again knowing the truth?
Wanda thought Nat was bad, but she had no idea that the person she just spent the entire afternoon with and most of her years fawning over was even worse.
Twin Surprises - Wanda Maximoff x romanoff!Reader
Summary (pt. 1) : A particular morning on an equally particular day can take on unexpected implications
Warnings: little swear (???), bad morning, the breakfast thief Pietro, a probable caffeine addiction (who isn't at least a little?), mistreated trash cans, frustration
A/N: Okay this is unexpected but I'm splitting this chapter / birthday special into two parts
Words: 4.717
What's worse than having a damn fixed thought and not being able to do anything else? Apparently waking up with this damned idea whirling in your head, too early and on your day off, with an annoyed mood.
ᗢ⧗── ・ 。゚⧗: *.ᗢ.* :⧗. ───⧗ᗢ
Being an Avenger involves a lot of duties, tight schedules, and many other boring things, so those little moments when you are free you try to spend them as best as possible.
That's why now you're very angry, it's your day off, and you woke up too early with a stupid woodworm in your head, but since you're too stubborn to fall for it, you still don't give up on the idea of falling asleep again.
You roll over once, close your eyes and try... nothing. You try again, you turn around again, you close your eyes and... still nothing.
By dint of tossing and turning from one side to the other, unfortunately you wake up Wanda in the end.
As the internal struggles in you continue ardently, you now stare at yourself lying on your back, your eyes still closed, while Wanda makes room for herself in your arms, also resting her head on your chest.
Spend a little time like this, in absolute silence, you still convinced you'll be able to fall asleep again, and Wanda too busy following your heartbeat and enjoying the tranquility of the morning.
ᗢ⧗── ・ 。゚⧗: *.ᗢ.* :⧗. ───⧗ᗢ
Your stubbornness persists, even after Wanda has fully awakened and noticed that you weren't sleeping, even after she asked you why you kept closing your eyes and you explained everything to her, even after she called you strange only replied with "your weird, though".
In the end, however, you give up, a deep sigh comes from your lips, and when you finally open your eyes for a brief moment you are blinded because apparently Wanda had opened the shutter after getting up.
With great remorse you sit on the edge of the bed and massage your eyes, before standing up and regretfully walking around the room.
You pause for a moment on the desk near the wall, more precisely on the small black box, complete with the 'Stark Industries ' logo that was in the package that Tony had given you when you were "sleeping". The nice thing is that in the package there was also a note in italics that clearly said 'for emergencies '.
Going back to your thoughts, you wonder where your girlfriend has gone, you heard her get up and move away from the bed but then you lost track of her. "Wanda?" you ask softly to the empty room, looking for the slightest noise. "In the bathroom!" a muffled scream from the distance and from the door reaches your ears revealing the position of the sokovian.
Slowly you head into the internal bathroom you have, opening the door slightly you observe the girl as she completed her morning routine.
"So... have you decided what you want to do?" after finish she asks, now looking at you. Her hair tied up in a half chignon, others still loose, and a funny messy smile. You grimace in frustration, detaching yourself from the jamb, you woke up wrong today. "yes... unfortunately" you sigh in surrender. "I think I'll go to the lab, even if it wasn't in my plans at all" pouting fit for a five-year-old, you slam your forehead retributively against the doorframe while whining repeatedly.
Therefore Wanda finds it very difficult to hold back a giggle or even a small smile at your childish ways, typical of mornings, especially the bad ones. "It's okay love, I'm sure you can still enjoy your day off" she passes you by before placing a delicate kiss on your lips and leaving the bathroom completely free.
"Is talking who doesn't have a worm in their head" you insinuate pouting in a slightly louder voice, enough for Wanda to hear that she had just left your room. She rolls her eyes at your insinuation, there's no malice in it, you're just frustrated and still sleepy, so she sets out to help you out later.
You gave yourself a general mending in the bathroom, your nightwear replaced with something decent but not too uncomfortable, your hair all tangled up from the night sorted into a laboratory ponytail, a light dusting of make-up together with your favorite lipstick and finally a pair of tan converse and you're good to go. (of course you always wear your precious necklace⚡)
All ready you leave your room and walk through the compound, hoping to finish as soon as possible, so you can take this day off.
You don't miss meeting almost everyone on the team, some like Steve and Sam returning from a morning run, or greeting a busy Kate with a wooden bow on her way to the shooting range. You also replied to the message Natasha sent you this morning, you hadn't read it yet but she was coming home early, so another happy surprise for you soon
Before arriving in the laboratory, however, you decided to take a small detour to the kitchen and see if there was something good to eat. Your expectations have been more than rewarded when already from a good distance you smelled a crunchy scent and a conversation going on between your favorite twins, so you don't lose heart and enter the room. "What are you guys up to?" so you announce your presence, walking towards the counter and your girlfriend together with her brother. You wrap your arms from behind Wanda and give her a trail of kisses down her neck, which causes Pietro to giggle and also get a warning look from his twin regarding his PDA comments.
Rocking with your chin on Wanda's shoulder you look curiously at your dear twin a little too fast, the curiosity remains. "So what? What were you discussing before?" you grab a last kiss on Wanda's cheek before pulling your arms away and detaching yourself a little more from the counter.
"Piet was talking to me about his amazing schedule for the day, trying to divert my attention from his attempt to scrub some of the waffles I'd made." waving the spatula she was putting away, she stares very intently at her brother. A grimace of dissent manifests itself on the Sokovian's face, very useful if he doesn't have to talk to his sister or his best friend.
In fact, just before I can finish the sentence "That's not really true... I just wanted to inform my little sister of what I had in mind for today..." both of you raise an eyebrow, definitively undermining his lie, you know him too much well.
Leaving aside his constant baling, you approach the coffee machine, ready for your morning dose of caffeine. "Leaving aside your bad excuses Pietro... Do you want coffee? Wan?" you ask with your back to the twins, fiddling with the machine, then wash your hands after making cups. "I pass" "Already taken детка" they answer you as you turn on the appliance before returning for a moment to the sink.
"Why are there coffee grounds in the garbage disposal?" you turn towards them, the question and curiosity very strong in you, but above all the who. They shrug their shoulders without knowing how to help you and then you sigh, you'll have to deal with it later.
While you wait for the brown nectar to flow, you drum your fingers on the counter when Pietro asks you a question. "So, Y/N, how is Natasha?" he asks you. "She's quite well, she should be back by tonight, so the mission is practically over" with renowned hope, as well as a certain happiness, you take the coffee container and pour the contents into a cup.
"Alright guys, see you later, I'm going to the lab. Wish me luck Maximoffs!" you greet Wanda with a kiss on the cheek and a hug, two finger guns aimed at her brother, while walking backwards you disappear from their sight.
"Ugh!!!" you repeatedly hit yourself on the head, because you're too stupid to let a goddamn thought come out.
You've been here for hours, literally, analyzing some stupid blood samples... and you still have nothing! It's like your brain just can't piece together…it's nerve-wracking, having the answer on the tip of your tongue and not being able to get hold of it.
You've tried everything to get you focused: you've tried putting on some music... it didn't work! In fact, you spent a lot of time dancing around the room rather than getting new ideas. You've tried a new angle, another creative point of view, anything else that provides a goddamn starting point... and every single thing brings you back to the start. This shouldn't even be normal!
Normally when your brain fixates on something it works on it until it solves it, but it's like it's somewhere else now... Yet this morning it just seemed like you just wanted to come down here to the lab rather than spend your day off a day a little longer in bed.
"How much I would like a nice distraction..." you whisper, looking glassy at the laboratory door, praying that someone, no matter who, enters there just to have a chat.
Unfortunately, however, you only have your sighs to keep you company, and a probable stress headache on the way doesn't help at all. Of all this uproar thinking the only good thing, or at least the only moment in which perhaps you didn't want to escape from this laboratory, was when Wanda came a few hours ago with a tray of delicacies and you had breakfast together, unfortunately, however, with your great sorry she had to run off shortly after to go train with Steve according to what she told you.
Looking back maybe staying in the same place racking your brains isn't a good idea though, at most now you could just play with a few red balls between your fingers and get a huge headache. "I need a distraction... a change of scenery" you get up with a start and drop everything, leaving the laboratory all messed up and everything still in the middle, you put down your glasses and at the first window that overlooks the compound, you take flight.
ᗢ⧗── ・ 。゚⧗: *.ᗢ.* :⧗. ───⧗ᗢ
The breeze of the wind on your face, plus the sheer feeling of freedom as you soar in the air go a long way towards making you less stressed and possibly happier, so when you finally land secretly in an alley, you won't regret the choice you made. at all.
With a quick look around to make sure that the alleyway is indeed safe and that no one has seen you land, you set off through the streets of the Big Apple.
With the day having already begun, the streets crowded and full of people darting from one side to the other, no one would expect an avenger walking alongside them, yet here you are mixed with those who until a few years ago were ordinary citizens like you.
There's no place like home
Smiling to yourself, you stroll through the streets of the city where you were born, raised and even became a superhero, in short... in most places here you have memories (good and bad).
But there's only one place you always go when you simply want to unplug, spend some quiet time without pressure, take a little break from the chaotic world of superheroes... and it's a coffee shop, a simple coffee shop.
It was the first thing you discovered on your own, as soon as you "moved" to the tower, you found this coffee shop and it's kind of become your personal hideaway ever since.
That's exactly where you're heading now, only you're too distracted from watching life in the city to notice you're almost there.
You may have snapped back to reality when you smelled the familiar whiff of coffee and other baked goods and perhaps tripped over a poor fellow. With embarrassment written on your face, you humbly apologize to the passerby, sometimes your distraction leads you to be very clumsy.
When you enter, the usual atmosphere, the clatter of cups and coffee machines, the conversations in the background... basically everything is very welcoming.
The line for orders isn't even that long, certainly less boring than being closed in the laboratory with a heavy migraine and no one to talk to, and then at the end of the effort there should be a reward, right? One by one as you look around the customers are served their orders and soon it's your turn.
The first thing you notice once you approach the counter ready to place your order is that they have hired a new barista, you can tell because you know everyone at this coffee shop... even the manager probably, and this girl is new. Not to throw her off you were about to expose your caffeine order when she interrupts you.
"I bet... double latte with whipped cream and... a sprinkle of cinnamon!" the young new employee gestures smiling, she fully guesses your usual drink that you take here, indeed it is not the only thing that she has left on you.
"Yeah... that was exactly what I was about to say. You really nailed it!" surprised and also quite intrigued you smile back, she should ask for the name now even if there's more underneath maybe.
"So a double latte with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon for…?" she asks you all the time, and if you weren't the telepath you'd say she was reading your mind. "Y/N" drums on the counter, very intrigued and perhaps with a small idea of trying to do a slight violation of her mind.
Stand still Y/N she just guessed your order, don't commit a crime out of some stupid trivia.
The girl, she hints at a slight hidden smile, before returning to your order. "Well Y/N, your order arrives as soon as possible" with a somewhat funny tone the girl takes leave while you go and sit down at a table.
Of all the seats in the coffee shop your favorite ones are by the window, from there you can see the outside environment, with all the city lights, cars passing by and people walking on the sidewalks, all while enjoying a great drink. In a short time, or at least according to your perception of time, your order is prepared and the same girl who took your order, even if it is not her responsibility, brings it to your table.
You were listening to the music with headphones, facing the wall window, so you don't even notice that someone is approaching you, much less that this same person is sitting on the other side of the table. It's only when the new bartender touches your arm that you come out of your thoughts and realize she's there.
Seeing your face briefly frightened, more surprised than anything, the young woman explains the unspoken question to you. "I'm on a break and... I brought coffee! Do you mind if I stay here a while?" she says handing you your cup, very happy and joyful, even if deep down you understand that she doesn't want to bother you, you should still give her an answer. "No, you can stay if you want, I-I don't mind" distant, already back in your thoughts you answer with a sigh.
"Are you okay? You look worried..." she with sincere interest, moves closer with the chair, now she looks you straight in the eye, she really she would like to know what is upsetting or annoying you.
I'm not saying I could even tell her, but I'd have nothing to lose if I did, right? She offered herself!
Here you are now convinced, you will confide in the stranger in the coffee shop. What could be so bad? Take a deep breath and sip your drink, the taste of the coffee gives you that extra push to talk.
"Yes... I mean no... it's just that I have so many thoughts on my mind and sometimes I almost feel like I'm going to explode!" you mimic an explosion in your head with your hands, the new girl lets out a giggle at your antics nodding in sympathy.
"Yeah, I can understand that. At least, I think I do. Sometimes it just goes boom and there's nothing you can do about it" with extraordinary calmness the mysterious girl says, taking a sip of the other cup of coffee she's brought along. Nod along with her, conversing as you drink your coffee.
ᗢ⧗── ・ 。゚⧗: *.ᗢ.* :⧗. ───⧗ᗢ
You've been talking to this mysterious girl for longer than you ever expected. First of all now you know her name is Alya, she goes to NYU which by the way is driving her crazy with deadlines and studying and all, and more importantly she always knew who you were just she didn't want to make the somewhat embarrassing situation.
You told her about your particular morning, and why you came here, and while you both had a laugh about why you shouldn't drink coffee when stressed, you had a pleasant conversation.
Talking to her you got to study her, from her slightly wavy hair a shade of red, just about shoulder level, to her green eyes, more or less the same shade as Wanda. When it comes to analyzing a person, training as an agent of the Shield certainly comes in handy for you, indeed just after only a few minutes you notice Alya's personality traits that stand out just by looking at her posture, way of gesturing and facial expressions.
For a shy person, with you literally just meeting her she is very outgoing.
You understood it from how she sat, her shoulders tense, a rigid posture and her legs crossed, she usually doesn't talk much with strangers and if she does she remains very shy. She has a habit of twirling a strand of hair between her fingers, it's probably because she's very nervous while she's talking to you, you just don't understand why.
She's rambling now while you're talking, and that makes you smile because sometimes when you're nervous you tend to ramble a lot too, so you understand how she's feeling.
While your ears are listening to whatever this girl is talking about, a thousand thoughts are shooting in your brain every minute.
All concentrated on one something, a feeling deep in your chest, something that tells you that there is more to this girl than she brought you a coffee a while ago, something that should remain a mystery but you still don't. you know.
This girl has something… I don't know… something… familiar. But I think she's not telling the whole truth... the dilated pupils, the constant anxiety, the hair curling around her finger, the rambling... I know she's hiding something from me and somehow it concerns me.
You might not have been the only one having internal conversations at that table, in fact your mysterious girl is also having an internal struggle, torn between revealing her big secret and compromising herself or blatantly lying to you (she's not doing too well it seems). Her anxiety is eating her up, she doesn't know how to get out of this situation without causing a potential catastrophe, and she's never been good at hiding her emotions so her concern by now she too understands that it is clearly visible.
Fortunately for her, or perhaps unfortunately if she won't keep her mouth shut about what she absolutely mustn't tell you, you decide to break this farce first. "So Alya… what of what you told me is a lie?" you look her straight in the eye, serious on the outside but dying of curiosity on the inside. For a moment, she for some reason unknown to you she rolls her eyes, as if this phrase she had heard many times, a pleasant memory.
Insistently, you wait for an answer, you'd rather have her tell you than invade her privacy by getting into her head. A few seconds pass and Alya takes a deep breath before uttering a word, trying to balance the words without compromising herself.
"W-what do you mean?" with clear anxiety she says, the stammering accentuating her nervousness. "You have been nice and kind to me since I entered this shop, you have told me part of your life, I have done the same... but, but there is something underneath that you are not telling me, and I feel that in somehow it concerns me. So, to recap, what are your intentions?" trying to be as non-threatening as possible, you try to get her to spill the beans, even though she could have major consequences for your future (not that you know it).
The girl, or Alya by now, thinks she can hide at least a minimum of her nervousness about this situation, it's not at all what she would have imagined when she accidentally happened here. Breaking with sweat, metaphorically speaking, she steels herself and tries to put her still developing skills to good use. "W-what?! I'm not hiding anything from you! I'm just a rookie bartender good with people..." with a clearly fake smile, just to mask her growing panic, she hesitates a bit hoping you'll take this excuse blatant.
Clearly you've seen more than a few details that made your nose go crazy, some things that don't add up at all but that definitely don't lead to an ordinary person, you just don't want to jump to conclusions.
"Hmm ok I'll pretend to believe you... if you explain to me why the soles of your shoes are completely charred annnd why you have this constant fear when I meet your gaze" with your chin held in the palm of your hand, with absolute nonchalance you reveal some of the details that you noticed, leaving her no less than stunned.
She expected everything except to be betrayed by her own shoes, she had to change them when she had the chance but now it's too late and she probably screwed up. She's practically one step away from a cold sweat, and despite her wide-eyed eyes she has a constant lump in her throat that's hard to swallow. "W-what?" she can barely pronounce, the fear in her ribs of compromising herself even worse.
She is so stubborn you think hastily rolling your eyes. "Look, if you have powers, that's fine I won't say anything, you seem like a good girl definitely not a criminal so I'll let you handle this because I know how you feel, I've been there. But… there's something else below, I don't know what, but you have a very familiar face, but I don't understand the whole picture..." with the utmost calm, all the result of an unnatural momentary maturity, you try to explain your points of view, leaving a low voice some details to avoid snooping.
Heart pounding, time almost seems to slow down, everything seems ready for Alya to make the one mistake she shouldn't have made... when suddenly your phone rings.
"Kate?" dumbfounded you speak with the device now leaning against your ear. "Y/N! Hey, how's it going?" on the other end of the line, a very agitated Kate goes from one tone to another, bordering on total panic.
Without even giving you time to answer, she continues talking, completely ignoring your turn. "Do you by any chance know how the hell I'm supposed to supervise the recruits at the shooting range?!” she alarmed her, she surely she's pacing, she just confuses you even more. "Supervising? Kate, sorry but what the heck are you talking about?" you exclaim not so much to let everyone in the coffee shop know what you are saying but enough to let the archer know your confusion.
"Do you prefer the long version or the short one?" Kate sighs, as you roll your eyes a little amused after all. "Short please" you emphasize in exasperation.
"Okay let's go long. I was having my morning bow practice when Steve came and said I had to supervise the recruits during training, I asked him why and he said usually Natasha's dealing with this but now she's on a mission and anyway they're all busy and it's just me and they'll be here in five minutes and… and I'm totally panicking" in a profile of information, Kate panics more and more constant, you even feel that her breathing is becoming noisy.
Of course, you have to put up with a long-winded sermon steeped in insecurity, even if you explicitly asked for the 'short version' just to avoid it, but being the good and supportive friend you are, as well as a master at making you panic you are already ready to explain carefully what to do.
"Kate. Aren't you a national champion in archery as well as an unreasonable number of other sports?" you blurt out, trying to get her to a trusted bathroom. "Yes?" "So go, be yourself, use your skills and show these recruits who Kate Bishop is!" you encourage her, clear and forthright as only you can be.
A few moments pass and you don't get a reply, so you decide to check if something has happened. "Kate, are you still there?" you ask suspiciously, waiting for a sign of life. "Y/N, they've arrived" in a whispered voice Kate almost mutters incomprehensibly.
"Go and destroy them all" you try your tactic one more time, hoping for a better result. "Ready or not now I'm in" concludes Kate leaving the setback of the call to you. "See you later Kate. Don't say anything to whoever you know who, about that thing you know" you hang up the call, and sitting alone in the chair.
Well yes, Alya in one quick moment during your call, literally darted out of the club, and you already know that this girl you won't see her again (or at least the next time you see her like this, it could be in quite some time ).
The thing that amazed you the most was the fact that you tried to read her mind, but there was something that prevented you, a kind of block... is it possible that Alya herself applied it? Almost nil.
"Well, enough of the nonsense for today, it's time to get back to my not-so-ordinary superhero life" without racking your brain once more, you run out of the very last drop of coffee and walk out of the coffee shop ready to go back to the compound.
ᗢ⧗── ・ 。゚⧗: *.ᗢ.* :⧗. ───⧗ᗢ
After Alya's improvised get-away
That call was like a saving grace for Alya, she couldn't have lasted a second longer. Even if her little escape will certainly have cost her her job, oh well she doesn't care much about this, however she doesn't even have to be here now.
She's never cared about her dearest superspeed as much as now, it's really true, sometimes she really saves your ass. Now the only thing she needed to figure out what to do without meeting any avenger again so as not to make another mess.
"Damn! Good Natalya, very good. You were about to prevent the birth of you and your siblings, basically suicide!" in an abandoned alley, as far away as possible from the coffee shop or from the compound in general, Alya yells at herself, if a passerby were to see her he would call her crazy.
"Oh, but that's not my fault! It's all my cocky stupid brother's fault! If Billy doesn't bring me back as soon as possible I swear I won't regret canceling his birth" in a typical family fury at this point, the redhead freaks out against a garbage can.
"But then why 2016?! Do he know what happens to mom this year and he sent me here! 'as a test' he said! 'I'll get you back in a few minutes' he said! And now I'm here, plus ten years away from home for almost a week! Kicking a bloody dumpster..." if she didn't know how to control herself now the poor dumpster would be in a bad way for how she's treating it, the only way to vent the frustration of be trapped in the past.
Part 2 Soon ...
