The thing that annoys me, as a China collector who actually uses their China and gets annoyed finding broken-up sets precisely because someone's come in and bought one plate to be "crafty with" … Is that people do this without even researching the china they pick up (sometimes destroying incredibly rare pieces)- and often take pieces that are perfectly usable still, instead of opting for unusable pieces with chips or cracks already that could be repurposed more appropriately. It's honestly so tiring.

But it's China and no one has any respect for it anymore as an artform. They just know it as "that stuffy thing Grandma only brought out once a year- if ever". Not as the once-common pottery art form that everyone once owned regardless of class, and which was the common eating set until the advent of mass-pressed glass, finally, that it properly is. It's not worth even being appreciative of as an art form now.

Not if it's not raw pottery diningware (which is so in right now everywhere) or some kind of whacky or kitschy modern art piece (which modern art has pulled a lot of damned fine propaganda to get us to believe is the superior, "classless" form of art, when we all know it's bullshit)- all made by some rando making Tik Toks with their Kiln in their backyard.

China only matters if someone can make a Tik Tok of them cutting it up with a Mason Saw to turn it into a "statement Ring"- nevermind it's a rare pattern I'd kill to have, but the plates are $90 a pop because the company only produced limited sets before being incorporated and then put under by their competition (and said competition never thought the Pattern was worth enough to continue producing) ... Or if they can turn it into the newest wave of ugly, gaudy bird feeders they can sell at the next honkey tonk craft fair ... So who cares, right?

Honestly. It's one thing if it's already damaged. But people literally don't care or respect things enough to wait that long.

Oooh "but at least we're being thrifty and repurposing / reusing things"! Shut up. It's not actually "repurposing / reusing" if it was still serving its original function just fine, its original function hadn't actually even been completed yet, and you had to actively and intentionally damage it to the point of complete unusability before that function was completed in order to force it to serve the new one ... That's not how reuse / recycle / repurpose works. You just don't have any respect for what it actually is enough to actually use it.

Just respect a tea cup for what it is, as a tea cup. Use it as it is, as a tea cup. And when it finally breaks- because it inevitably will, because they aren't made to be permanent, and shit happens? Then turn the thing into a bird feeder if you're so damned insistent on doing it ... Stop disrespecting a legitimate art form and wasting good, usable freaking China in the process, because you can't see or understand its value or what it is.

       Those abandonment issues come largely into play for this one. Aether is more likely to die, more likely to up and disappear, and, once all is said and done, should he make it to the end of his quest and reunite with Lumine, more likely to leave Teyvat ( and, even if he says he has no plans to leave, Scaramouche won't fully believe him until Lumine's permanent residency is ESTABLISHED ). A cozy, peaceful life sounds more plausible with Petrae, and though it's something Scaramouche doesn't believe he DESERVES, it something he's always, DESPERATELY, wanted.

       A normal life, and someone to TRULY love him. Petrae can promise that to him and has already, to an extent, provided it. Aether ? It could all go away in the blink of an eye.

     Now, if you’ll excuse him, he has somewhere to be, so he can be UPSET in PRIVATE.
