#wait that one veil isn't supposed to be shadow only-
Note
Hey, it's been awhile!
So, I don't know if you know about the Disney Villain Recruiters. You might have heard some whispers about them if you've been in the twst fandom long enough. They're a very niche part of Disney Japan, so don't be surprised if you don't know them. They're basically minions of disney villains turned human in order to recruit new minions during Halloween at Tokyo DisneySea. There are a number of videos of them on YouTube (I recommend dahjEt_'s channel)You can find out more about them here: Disney Villain Recruiters: An Introduction
And this is pic of them:
Tumblr media
I was just thinking recently about how they would approach Yuu and the shipping war within the House of Mouse.
People in the fandom pretty much agree that Jack Heart is Ace's older brother. Jack teases Ace a lot about being so far behind in the shipping race despite being Yuu's best friend. He's on the RiddleYuu ship his Queen and all of Wonderland, but he secretly ships his brother with Yuu.
Eight Foot Joe totally sympathizes with Yuu's situation being overworked by Crowley as he himself is overworked by Ursula. Joe is secretly a Chad, just a tired Chad. He gives some pretty good advice to Azul on how to woo Yuu.
Veil on the other hand gives pretty bad advice to Rollo about how to pursue Yuu. Farja is also enthusiastically shipping JamilYuu
Apple Poison, aka tall Apple Boi, and Lady Hock have soft spots for Yuu in spite of their stoicism. They don't care much for the shipping war, but they're protective of Yuu.
Mr. Dalmatia and Pretty Scar are pretty much like the animal children when it comes to protecting Yuu. They're both like the "Get you dog" vine. In fact, I actually did an animation of them a little while ago. You might have to scroll down a little to see the video: https://www.tumblr.com/tickledpink31/720236920779800576/bio?source=share
Hi! It has been a while - how have you been? I hope you're all good.
So I have heard a thing or two about the Villain Recruiters - like I saw a post with a picture of them in a Disney Villain blog once but I have no idea who they are but now hearing about their job - wow the idea is absolutely fantastic and would totally get me to join the dark side!
I have a soft spot for the villainous henchmen so I can imagine the sort of shenanigans they would get into with their animal counterparts - Eight Foot Joe mucking about with Flotsam and Jetsam, Malfie and Diablo side-eyeing each other whenever the goblins mess up because they are the only competent henchmen there, the list goes on...
Also I just want to say that I absolutely love your art - the drawings? excellent. the video? phenomenal.
I lowkey think that this would cause a smaller war between henchmen over who Yuu's favourite 'older brother/sister' is.
I also have the mental picture of Yuu being a precious smiling sunshine girl and then you have the NRC boys and Disney Villains as dark shadows looming behind her, their eyes promising a tortuous death to anyone that looks at her.
Personally, I don't really understand the Jack as Ace's brother thing since he seems to work directly under the Queen, who had long since passed since passed before Ace was even born (also isn't Ace supposed to also represent the Jack of Hearts since he steals the Queen's tarts just like the Knave of Hearts (otherwise known as the Jack) did in the poem/book?) - but then again I consider Maleficent to be Malleus' grandmother even though that's completely impossible so I'll let it slide. Plus it makes Ace's behaviour towards Riddle and the Queen's rules even more hilarious if you consider his brother is one of the people who enforces them. Just wait until Riddle finds out - he'll have a conniption!
I don't really know enough about them to write anything more specific but the idea sounds awesome!

Akiren choosing to wear a wedding dress for Akeshu/ShuAke wedding:
very late Part 2 to this post below:
I've had this sitting in a Google Doc for a while, I've just been too lazy to post it
(Mementos Mission Manga Scene Spoiler warning)
So while Unapologetically spoiling myself on Persona 5 content, I came across a Manga Spinoff called Mementos Mission. There's a scene where Akira (Protagonist’s name in the Manga canon is Akira Kurusu), teams up with Akechi on an investigation and he's advised to come in disguise and Akira’s version of disguise is “Oh, I just happened to have a female cop uniform in my wardrobe, along with curly hair extensions, lipstick and makeup. I'll wear that.”
Akechi reacts like most people would, and after recovering from a laughing fit, questions what the heck he's wearing.
And Akira is so nonchalant about it “You said to come in disguise and this is what I had on hand 🤷‍♀️.”
The outfit is also available as a DLC costume pack in Persona 5 Dancing In Starlight.
Point is, Akiren canonically crossdresses and has no issue with it.
So what if he willingly wears a wedding dress to an Akeshu/ShuAke wedding scenario?
Originally, the Wedding Dress option was just supposed to be plan B. If for some reason the Metaverse proves to be too dangerous to hold the wedding and they're forced to have it in the real world, Akira could just crossdress as a female and take the role of The Bride.
Luckily Metaverse Wedding is manageable enough. During the private dressing process the Girls took it upon themselves to play Bridal Boutique for Akiren.
Fast-forward to the Wedding. Akechi is waiting at the altar, Grim Reaper officiating (it was originally supposed to be Yaldabaoth but Grim showed up and it seemed letting him be a part of the ceremony was the only way not to get K.O.ed by him). Random assortment of shadows sitting in the crowd that the group managed to convince threaten to attend. Sophia is playing the role of the pipe organ, humming a wedding tune. Ryuji is one of Akiren’s best men, Yusuke is busy in the role of Wedding photographer—-um, “Artist”. Since cameras don't work in the Metaverse, Yusuke has to hand photograph the moments by painting them which he is more than enthusiastic about, this man is going to paint the most detailed works of art ever, who needs a silly camera?
Morgana is on ring bearer duty. unfortunately since Sojiro can't enter the Metaverse, Cop PeePaw Zenkichi Is playing the role of “father that gets to walk Akiren down the aisle”
Jose is the flower boy.
Sumire is one of the girls not playing “Bridal Boutique” and is instead one of Akechi's best—-women? She felt bad for him barely having any Bests on his side so she insisted. The rest of Akechi's Bests entourage consists of docile cognitive beings of Sae Niijima, and a couple of his agents.
Since fashion isn't her area of expertise, Futaba also willingly opted out of playing Wedding Boutique and stood next to Ryuji in Akiren’s Bests line up, along with Lavenza.
Akechi didn't have anyone close to walk him down the Aisle. Shido was an obvious no go. “Absolutely Mcfucking Never In This Lifetime Or In Hell, Docile Cognitive puppet version or not” - in Akechi's own words.
So Igor happily decided to fill that void. The long nosed hunchback was an unsettling sight for Akechi but Akiren reassured he's a decent dude.
The moment comes, doors swing open for the second Groom to reveal—-
Akiren in full wedding dress and veil, hair extensions to further sell the feminine look, along with black lipstick. He's wearing a casual warm smile, absolute zero sense of shame in this man.
Zenkichi and Ryuji do double takes, Futaba bursts out in a fit of cackles.
Behind Akiren, the girls, minus Futaba and Sumire, stand behind him, all with varying expressions from defeated, embarrassed, and holding in laughter.
“For the record, we didn't force him to wear this. Once we managed to convince him that wearing his Shujin school uniform is not appropriate attire to get married, he suggested a wedding dress. Despite us explaining it's not necessary and a Tuxedo will do just fine, he was already picking out dress options, so we just went along with it.”
“He also pulled black lipstick and curly black hair extensions out of his pocket and ominously claimed “My time has come.” He wouldn't give us an answer as to where he got them from, I can only assume they've been in his pocket all day.”
Akechi just lets out a defeated sigh, and facepalms. Oh, that's right. His soon to be husband is a fucking dumbass
A lovable, amusing, cute, undeniably sexy dumbass, but a dumbass all the same. But—--he wouldn’t have it any other way.

It's over. My life as a slave is over. But nothing is really over, is it?
Certainly the questions remain. Their messy cousin, Regret, skulks after them in their shadow. Was I a good slave with a bad master? Was I a bad slave to a good master? Do these things even matter, or were we just people? And do people matter at all?
I have my entire life left to live. Yet not a single minute of it is promised. Each is earned and given by grace. Each is, therefore, precious. I gave years of it to slavery. Have those years given me knowledge in return, or just lingering pain, like a gladiatrix's bad knees, aching when the rains are about to come?
Certainly, they linger. I linger, in public houses, traffic hubs, and docks, for purpose to seize me. I wait like a slave, even though I stand on two feet, wearing gowns. No color is perfect for those gowns. They feel best in black, much like my mind does, but even that isn't quite right.
Every hour of life is precious, yet I spend my hours waiting, waiting, waiting in places of congregation for someone else, for something new, for the right look, the guiding hand, the spark of inspiration that lives on the edge of a smile. Slaves wait for such things. And in this sense, my slavery lingers.
It lives on through my children. I had many children through my Master. Many, he freed. Ultimately, my freedom didn't come from him. My freedom came when I no longer felt like I had a place under his command, and roamed. I'd waited long for him.
I wait still, but I do so behind a veil, with my knees straight, as a free woman. It was simplicity itself to gain my freedom. I was biding my time in the hub when Hawker, a voice, spoke to me after almost a year. He said there could be a place for me in Genesian Port. I felt no bond to hold me back. I went.
And in going, I arrived back where I was at the very beginning of my time in the cities. Genesian may as well be Brunidisum. I was given from one free, to another, to the kennels. I was told to get an exam. I was told by the physician that nobody could help me. And after a few days of that, I left.
It's a common story for any slave. That's because almost every destination is the same. They say 'you can never go home again', but the opposite is true for slaves. For slaves, you go to the same place no matter where you go.
I stepped out of the cycle by joining a house for wayward slaves and, within a day, asking for my manumission. I was granted it with almost no second thought. The only words of protest came from a fellow slave. A slave's worst enemy is another slave.
Who can blame us? We are all expected to fight over the slightest attention and are told we are worthless. Certainly, some might whisper to us that we are precious, special, valuable. But that is usually in the afterglow, and if a price is actually asked for us, even a slight sacrifice, we are reminded that we are nothing. Small wonder that we treat one another the same way.
I am free of that now. At least, these papers say that I am. The gowns suggest it. The dialog I receive from men confuses the issue. I am often reminded that I would be more appealing without my clothes. I am always expected to conform with their desires, even if that involves telling them what to do.
Yet, I wait. As I waited for my Master, I wait. I wait because slaves wait. Slaves do not take the time away to think what their dreams are, plan to achieve them, and go do so. Slaves have no time for that. Slaves' time belongs to Master.
Now my time belongs to me. Every hour is precious. It isn't worthless. At least, that's what I'm supposed to think. So why do I wait? What do I wait for? Another Master? Surely not. No, I wait for what a Master represents; what a Master always represented.
I wait for purpose to move me.
And sometimes, amid all the talk, all the words that move in lieu of my feet, I wonder on that. I wonder if purpose, like the fleeting hours and days of my life, belongs to me and me alone.
The slave in me fears that is so.
When will her life end and mine begin? The answer is mine and it is whatever I wish it to be.
Yet. This girl. Waits.
And the woman that girl should become waits until she can find the courage to let that girl go.

Far Away Soul, White Cold Star 💫
Chapter: 17 p.5 “Cataclysm and World Ender Forgone..”
Past the MidWay Point of the Second Arc
Forgone..
(Mini Author Note: personal recommendation, listen to Pierce the Veil while read in this whole chapter it makes it so much better)
The Forest trembled from the sheer entity born from a horrifying transformation, standing so far above the trees and head in the clouds the monster stood forth, body seeming made of plant matter and rigid metal like materials became what is known as V. Dark glowing neon eyes pierced its shadowed face, long white tendrils resembling hair rested upon its head, grey mask of death, blood red tentacles ripping through her flesh, and armor near impenetrable, V was the ultimate killer of soul and life. Once a giver and protector of life, now corrupted and given new purpose, Kill and Kill and Kill and Kill..
Footsteps so heavy the ground crumbled, the boys now so small they seemed like ants to this things sheer power, within the giant entities heart stood V, fused with the being granting her immeasurable strength, agility, and speed, regardless of its size. How could one ever best a threat such as her..Goddess of Fate, Daughter of Mother Fate or foretold to be, and final known family member of her kind remaining on this planet..
I wish Hèr'La was here..I miss..Her..
Mere moments before the rapture something horrible snapped within V's mind, Forgone..such a strange saying, yet everyone says it all the time like we're all supposed to understand it. Forgone with nothing left, Forgone with all lives saved, and Forgone you've brung back such Joy..what would it even mean to me- the sight of that..the clone, was it projecting perverted thoughts of mine? The path remains the same..same as always..straight line in an endless abyss of darkness..shine of light going deeper and deeper in until there is nothing else but me. I-I can't feel my s-Skin..I..I'm cold..? Warmth is an obsolete feeling? Wait no..No! What am I doing? Break out of this cycle we have to- she mustn't be too far from here I'm sure I could save H- You've stepped this far into the darkness my love~ You've performed perfectly! I'm so glad of how far you've come..your helping us with your sacrifices- once this is all over you'll get your wish of a large family all together. Don't worry little daughter of mine- Rest, close those worn down thoughts..Let Your Mother make this swift..
"W-wait..I..I- Shhhhhh..I don't want h..It's okay Baby~ Let those emotions onto me I'll give you the peace you oh so deserve.."
V's body would begin to tear itself apart as she stopped chuckling and began to hold her torso in agony, writhing in pain she would jerk around as large bursts of flesh grew off her skin causing expansion, swiftly moving her hand to cover her mouth she would yell out only muffled by her hand until the sound of choking promptly came. Hijìn and Kÿr setting on the foothills of the rubble mound would catch a glimpse of this, Kÿr aiming a small powerful rifle in his hand would target her, but as he watched on he would slowly drop it getting incredibly distraught by the sight. Hijìn wiped his face from the dirt and dried blood would see this and take a step back, "Something isn't right here Kid..", murmured the voice in his head as he watched this, going out of his way to plant his hand on Kÿr's shoulder and softly tug them to back up. V's covered mouth would belch out near gallons of black tainted blood from her throat, the tar-like blood going through her fingers all over her neck and body, her gasps for breath being stopped immediately by another surge in said liquid. She jerked back nearly falling off the platform of debris as something stabbed from within her very stomach, holding in her screams as much as possible it would all end when a strange growth would slowly tear its way up her throat, it bulged out her throat to a point it broke the skin on her neck as it rose. Eyes rolled back from the pain and body near limp from the shock V collapsed onto her knees. Tearing its way out of her mouth a odd bulbous plant-like monstrosity slid off her lips, Kÿr gagged in disgust from the sight soon turning around to not watch any further as Hijìn watched on still agitated but also curious as to what the hell is going on.
Slithering it's way down her face, down her neck, and to her back this growth was covered in the tar-like liquid would slowly shed the protective shell it had around itself, it's body now exposed it was revealed to be that similar entity they saw in the desert that attacked their campsite. Hijìn's eyes widened in shock as the red and black spotted tentacle parasite slithered its way under V's dirtied white hair to her spine, "Rafflesia Haffela?! What the fuck is that doing in that bitches body?! Kid we need to get the fuck OUT OF HERE NOW!", the voice yelled at Hijìn who grew panicked now knowing the name of that parasite. Kÿr spitting out after gagging would turn around and just for a glimpse would see a strange eye filled flower slowly creep its way into V, Kÿr jolted over and hopped onto Hijìn's arm up to his shoulder, "ThThtHThtHhhhhHTHATS THAT THING AGAIN!!! IT SAID THERE WAS MORE AND NOW IT HAS HER OH FUCK!!", Kÿr screamed out while he held Hijìn's head jerking it about wanting to escape this. Hijìn took a step back one after the other as he could barely tell a cackling voice ringing in his head..just...that..this one isn't his parasite, it was faint and almost sounded like the echoing screams of millions shouting out at him, Hijìn clenched his head in pain as the screams grew so loud so quickly it overpowered the other voice in his head. Kÿr seeing this would try to yank the man back up so they could ditch this only to no avail, Hijìn felt crippled from the pain being transmitted to him through the screams in his head, enough was enough and just as he stood back up feeling weak from this all as the injuries he sustained are catching up to him. His parasite taking the initiative and controlling his legs, Hijìn yelled out in pain from the loss of leg control before he began to turn heel and begin running, "I'm not helping you I'm securing my survival..That BITCH..she believed she was so high and mighty but sucking that ethereal whores dick she got infected by the literal be all end all disease of death, Rafflesia Haffela, Kid if we don't get far enough away from this we will all perish I promise you that!" Parasite managed to echo out to Hijìn whom was still trying his best to recuperate, "O-okay..We..Go..", Hijìn responded mumbling to himself as he gripped his head with one hand, holding Kÿr with his other hand.
V sat there with her mind barely even able to process what had just happened, her mouth hanging open as blood and tar dripped off her lips onto her lap, her hand twitching she felt hollow and at this point not even alive. The wet ripping sound of the parasite creeping down her spine was the only sensory feeling she could even capture at this point as she had lost all her strength in an instant, her lips and nails still black she sat and took the forefront of this things abuse, "I-I should've listened..H-Hèr..LrÀ..", V silently murmured to herself in her mind. The Boys were running as fast as they could traveling vast expanses of destroyed forest from the previous battles in an attempt to escape this things wrath, sweat pouring down Hijìn's forehead and beaten down body as he pushed on still carrying Kÿr like a parent running off with their child after a long school day, while Kÿr faced back he would analyze the situation to try and figure what could they possibly do, "If..If I think what I think is gonna happen..I'm..I'm scared..", Kÿr mumbled to himself as his hair blew in all directions from the ash filled air around them blowing past them. "Coward..", the voice echoed out of Hijìn's lips as the parasite blurted out the phrase as a tentacle swayed left to right from Hijìn's shoulder right by Kÿr, Kÿr turning around would kick the ever living crap out of the parasites tentacle and aim a small pistol-like firearm at it, "and YOU! Don't you dare Fuckin speak to me..your inside my friend but that doesn't mean your included as Well Motherfucker! Disgusting filth when we're done here I'll be sure to find a way to kill you!", Kÿr exclaimed out at the parasite tentacle which slowly retracted into Hijìn's shoulder, his face growing more and more concerned as the ground would slowly begin to shake.
Whistling from the smoke shooting outside of V's body through small holes burning through her would be the only movement she inhibited, it was like she was truly dead, but as the smoke began to settle her legs would slowly begin to shake in weakness. Legs jolted left and right before her feet snapped outwards and clasped at the rocky floor beneath her, body raising up with each vertebrae popping as she rose unnaturally, her whole back arching like a U as she rose up to a side ways lean. V would jitter in her stance for a second, forest went absolutely quiet all around her, sounds of Hijìn's feet gripping against the forest floor as they pushed against leaf litter and rocks, panting of Kÿr as he scanned the area for V to reappear, and the gouging sounds of Hijìn's parasite crawling amongst his organs and skin, it was all a sensory overload there was no way she could even tell anything apart..just that..it wasn't her. In an instant those same large red tentacle ripped out of her spinal chord and stabbed into her back, arms, legs, and back of her head into her brain, V's weak barely standing body would jerk around in all directions almost as if rejecting the absorption of the parasite consuming her as it took control. Skin fading from the light green it gained a dark pigment like burnt wood, hair turning a darker shade of grey, eyes rolling all the way into her skull, and mouth getting sealed shut with her over growing skin, her mumbling screams could only be heard as she began to get torn from the inside out. Ribs exploding out of her chest along with her organs pouring out onto her knees she faltered in her stance, tentacles tearing their way out of her neck and into her eyes causing bursts of blood from her imploded eyes, and lastly her skin getting pealed off inch by inch by serrated tentacle blades coursing through her muscle fibers. She turned into the very thing she did to other people, unconscious of her own mistakes now she had to pay for the consequences of her actions and faults of her own decisions, foresight clouded by the darkness haunting her every step it was no longer V it was all parasitic.
Out of her torn apart mouth she would clench her fists with her inverted fingers and scream out into the abyss only for her cries to he shut off by her nonexistent mouth and destroyed vocal chords, skin cracking inch by inch from her feet, up her thighs, around her gored stomach now filled with tentacle growths, and up till her eyes, her screams rang in her head one last time as she stood there in the center with the tentacles writhing all inside of her body before her mouth was ripped open with a serrated tentacle showing off endless eyes inhabiting her insides causing a massive explosion of light as her screams finally escaped her soul within. "You have no need for pain..that soul of yours oh so strong and oh so beautiful- is the ultimate catalyst for my work..wouldn't you agree..Vìrkä~". The voice rang out in her head as her screams caused a massive explosion of energy sending a shockwave of black energy going so far it killed off all the plant/animal life for dozens upon dozens of miles till it went so far that it chased behind the boys running up ahead. Kÿr hearing the crumbling of rocks coming at them he turned back around to see the very fabric of the atmosphere get shredded behind them he would scream out, "OH FUCK! HIJÌN RUNN!!!!!!!!", Hijìn turning around he would scream out in fear as the parasite went into high gear and tried to run as far as possible with the shockwave right at their heels. Ground getting vaporized behind them Kÿr stared our into the abyss of white light and felt the ever soul gripping sensation of death pass over them as it grew nearer, final gust of wind and the flash came upon them and it went dark, all but the large wasteland visible from space present in this torn world was all that you can sense.
Standing in the center of the blast was a mutilated corpse of a used to be Goddess, abilities futile and attempts redundant she was left as nothing but a showing of her wrought consequences, stillness in the air as ash from the blast slowly blew by her cold bloodied face. Small pieces of ash gracefully dancing in the wind settling upon her dark body like snow, each fragment of ash carrying the remnant of those now dead from her rapture, weak wheeze-like breath escaping from her exposed ripped out lungs now on the ground barely connected by veins. Out from her arm a bundle of muscle fibers and thorned tentacle ripped out mutating it into a gigantic arm ever so growing, the left side of her chest blew off as the same happened to her other arm, head slumping down as chunks of her flesh fell down on the dead ground. Those small pieces of her hitting the ground and immediately sprouting new blades of grass and patch of flowers, but as her body fell apart her mutating limbs killed off any attempts at sprouting new life, her hanging head getting yanked up harshly causing a loud snap in her neck. Her revealed face had no eyes only deep gored holes, deep slits nearly ripped her lower jaw off as her teeth were fused together leaving giant holes in her cheeks that seemed like holes right through her face, and finally her face began to grow horns from beneath her very flesh as the new spiked black horns sliced though her skin breaking bone as they raised all the way up. Face cracking off the bulbous plant growth within her chest screeched out as her body began to rapidly grow big, larger than anything in her surroundings her clawed mutated hands now had black claws of night and heavily armored, it plowed through the soil leaving the same black tar poisoning the very world beneath her.
Heaven would cast this amalgamation of death and sin aside, it's proportions being so large the ground crumbled underneath its very step. Dark mask with hollow green glowing eyes pierced the veil of the world around it, it's heel like feet slammed into the ground underneath it sending an earthquake in all directions. Everything else seemed like nothing to this things size, it's arms moving up to its face as it analyzed itself like this it's first time ever seeing itself in this form, white flames burning out of its silky white hair that rested upon its face. Moving forward the creature shook the whole continent underneath its steps as it began to walk on forward, everything in its path crumbled as its heels stabbed into the earth, walking in a straight line towards those who opposed it before, arms to its sides as dust and burnt life forms fell from its armored hide. Was could this thing even Be? Could it be V? Her true final power? This has yet to be explained and we're in the hitlist.. what could we even do..?
Far off in the distance as the tremors grew nearer rubble began to quiver, underneath a large piece of sheet rock something would slowly raise it up overturning it till it fell over and crumbled. With small cuts all over his body and random bits of leaf litter all over it was revealed to be Kÿr, Kÿr would pant out in exhaustion as he held his knees trying to calm down, his body over heating due to a lack of nitrogen when they were submerged in the wake of the blast. Sniffling one last time Kÿr stood up properly looking about sensing out for his friend, out of the rubble a black tentacle slithered from underneath another layer of trees and rock tapping Kÿr on the side. Kÿr jerked back in disgust and slapped the tentacle off, "Ugh it's you again..Fine..Thanks- I guess..", he muttered to himself annoyed before planting his two feet down and grabbing the tentacle with both hands. The tentacle would be rugged yet slithery in his grasp, disgusted from the sensation he would gag for but a moment until he got a firm grip and ensue with the tugging, while he was yanking Hijìn out from the ground the tremors would grow nearer and nearer to their location. Shaking of the world around them managed to bounce some of the rubble off Hijìn's body, Kÿr pulling with all his strength launched the remaining trees and boulders off his friend until the man was fully out, Hijìn's rested face made him scoff in annoyance as Kÿr began to slap his face with both hands trying to wake him. "Hey..Hey..Hey..Hey!..HEY!! Idiot wake up AGhhhhhhhh- damn you!", Kÿr remarked out as his senses began spiking in gtfo of there energy with the shaking basically toppling him over a few times. About to smack Hijìn again the Parasite would slip a vine from Hijìn's ear and smack his face like a whip slightly cutting him with a leaf blade, but with that the man woke up and began to cough out in discomfort. Kÿr ignoring the parasites assistance he would reach into his pouch and pass a small wipe over his friends bloodied face, "Y-you okay? The blast didn't do any real harm to you right?", the feline-like creature beckoned to try and get a response. Hijìn wincing at the tapping of Kÿr at his face with the wipes made him exhale in annoyance, "Yes..yes..no more..", he said softly moving his hand over his friends to try and push the wiping down. Kÿr would throw the wipes off and stand back up wanting to try and help his friend stand whom at this point was just laying back on the remaining crap all over the floor, Hijìn would blink a few times in confusions as the ground would shake violently practically bouncing Kÿr and himself in the air before falling back on the solid ground, he would hop back onto his feet in an instant as Kÿr fell back soon bouncing back up, "AGhh..Damn It what's with this-..", he would immediately silence himself as the final tremor made him fall on his back allowing his head to lay down and see what the true cause was.
Hijìn took a step forward looking around as dust and ash of dead life flowed all around them in remembrance of their fight, through the smoke with the final step the entity made itself known, towering over them as if they were little ants- it was like a insect tackling a canyon in terms of scale. It stood above them staring them down like the weak pests that they were, with a clench of its fists all the dust and ash would be blown away in a violent surge of energy, winds so strong it was like facing down a hurricane head on. Tentacles shot out of Hijìn's body and plunged into the very earth beneath them, Kÿr flying back for a second before he thrusted his hands out and formed a large wall behind himself with a thin barrier to block the wind so he doesn't go flying off, winds so strong they started cutting at Hijìn's skin as he blocked his face with his arms. Brown filthy hair blowing around in all directions he couldn't even hear Kÿr's yelling through the thin barrier as the winds just got so damn intense, but out of nowhere he was sucked in and fell to the floor of the altered barrier with Kÿr. "You okay man?", Kÿr would ask holding his friend in concern, Hijìn nodding would look out the thin barrier to see nothing but the dust flying all around them, facing back he looked at Kÿr with a near scared look on his face. Kÿr seeing his friend so distraught would seek out into the abyss of flying debris hanging against the barrier, passing his hand against it he would ask to himself, "What the Hell has she become..that thing- now it's in her and only the one above knows what it did to her sick demented mind. Think Kÿr think..what could we even do..tch what am I saying..", Kÿr's hand slid down the barrier as the winds began to die down, "This is probably the end..again..", his demeanor changing so badly even Hijìn felt the depressing reality ahead of them.
The winds died down till a halt and their surroundings were clear, Kÿr opening up the barrier and disassembling the wall would face around investigating the now flat wasteland-like plains that was now their surroundings. It was expansive- so expansive the horizon seemed like the same thing for lifetimes, not a single spec of life apart from them was present here and it send shivers down his spine. Hijìn stepping out would sense the area and get a strange tingling feeling creep up his spine, his senses getting alerted he couldn't even react to what came next as he faced up. From the skies above them in the now black colored skies erupted the huge entity, clouds parting as it circled the entity as it began to fall down right on top of them with fists clenched about to crush them. Kÿr in an instant imploded the skin covering his eyes and illuminated the now dark surroundings with his gift, Eyes of the All Father, the Entity shooting down so fast at them the whole thing caught ablaze mid air as the fist traveled beyond super sonic speeds soon slamming right down on top of them causing a several thousand foot hole into the crust of the planet sending planetary earthquakes which shook all the ground around them uprooting everything everywhere.
Breathing heavily, Kÿr would be standing in a distant place a few good hundred miles away from the initial attack with sweat dripping down all over his face while holding Hijìn over his shoulder, eyes wide open Kÿr would look around scanning for that thing to reappear. "T-th..Fuck!..Thank the all Father I reacted so damn fast- if it wasn't for my quick thinking of using jet propulsion we would've been toast..", Kÿr said as he looked towards the weakened Hijìn. The man was slumped over his friends shoulder, having several degree burns on his body, cuts, bruises, broken bones, and drained of all his energy, this was a losing battle on his end and if it wasn't for his friend he would've perished with the blast. The parasite sending a sticking signal to his nerves made him stand upright and keep going, wincing at the pain he clenched his teeth looking onwards to the horizon, the shockwave of the initial blast long since passed over and bounced around the planet's atmosphere several times. "Kÿ..rU..", Hijìn would mutter from his weakened state staring at the thing slowly rising in the horizon, Kÿr turning to him hesitantly, "If your thinking what I think your thinking the answer is NO!", Kÿr yelled out at his friend stomping his foot down and firmly gripping his wrist. Hijìn would smile softly as his eyes lost some color almost as if he was dying from his wounds internally, planting his hand firmly on his friends head he would clench his other hand into a fist and hold it out to Kÿr, "Re..gard..ress..of what Happen..I..will never stop- fighting for you..Kÿr..u..", his smiling fading face behind the only sense of strength he had remaining trying to give a final message to his friend.
Kÿr would watch this and would slowly clasp his friends fist and slowly moved it down, his face distraught at his friend giving up already to sacrifice them to this monster, softly patting the fist he would face back up, "I'm gonna fight for you too..but maybe there is a way we can stop this- what could we do we have to try something, but one thing is for fucking sure I will not sit around and watch you die again I swear on my life I won't!", Kÿr demanded at his friend to understand as Hijìn moved his hand back and stared off into the distance with the same somber look in his face. However, just as Hijìn was about to respond the entity for the split second it was seen in the horizon would vanish and reappear right in front of the two boys fist fully jerked back ready to hit them again with a devastating attack, their black claws plowing the ground down into nothing as they gripped the floor to reach their height better. Like a fool Hijìn would jerk his hand back using blood to try and clash fists, but Kÿr saw the idiocy in this and would vanish once more, using his awakened power to create giant jet thrusters at full power connected to his back as his grabbed Hijìn and blasted them both off at the same time just as the fist ripped through the earth and it's thrust knocking the two off course sending them toppling through the sky.
Gripping onto his friend Hijìn would be yelling out in panic as they fell around in the air with the jet thrusters malfunctioning mid flight, Kÿr clenching the man and the side of the thrusters would kick them off and send them flying through the air randomly. The Entity crushed the jet thrusters as it assumed to be them only to discover the two flying about in the air, Kÿr creating a paraglider and attaching it to Hijìn would kick him off his small body and safely back down to the ground. Hijìn yelled out in objection to this as he wanted to try and get back to his friend so they both can move on, while this happened Kÿr would create a smaller version of the thrusters and connect them to his back and stayed floating in the air. Right in front of Kÿr the whole face of the entity would break through the dust of the previous attack and stare him down, Kÿr floated there and stared down at the large entity clenching his fists as he heard Hijìn's screams behind him. The Entity grabbing the attention of said screams would ignore the feline-like creature for the time behind and choose to move around to kill its main target first. "Hèr'La wouldn't want this you know..", Kÿr would mutter out as the Entity took a few steps right by him, the small feline-like creature so unimaginably small compared to this thing he wasn't even a spec in the sky to this things massive size, but to his own dismay the thing kept on walking without even recognizing or reacting to the message and that was all he needed to confirm his suspicions. Punching his right hand into his right palm Kÿr sighed in disappointment, he wasn't able to fulfill the goal of living a more peaceful life especially with the only person he could say he began to truly love, not as a friend but more than that and now she's gone. Swiping his hand away Kÿr brushed his hair to the side and just as he did so a unprecedented amount of weapons of all calibers from rifles, detonators, missiles, to even blades and other assortment of deadly weaponry would form out of his very arm extended a few dozen feet. "Eat..Lead..", Kÿr muttered out in a monotone tone of voice to the entity before launching a massive barrage of attacks so large it illuminated the dark sky with hellfire, missiles and bullets rapidly shooting out as blades and other weapons blasted out his arm hitting the entity head on. However, to his surprise they didn't even make a dent in that things movement and only made it ignore him even more, but that was just a taste of what he could truly do- instantly vanishing Kÿr would bring out the power of the Eyes of the All Father and appear above the entity looking down its flame like white hair, as he released his power the whole sky would instantly start raining Rajòz in all directions randomly which now caught the Entities attention. It turned around instantly looking up to where it had all began as now the entities presence would cause the Rajòz to worsen so badly they seemed like endless walls of super charged plasma striking at anything around them, Rajòz struck the entities body but it was unfazed as the energy rippled over their body back down into the ground. Out of literal nowhere Kÿr would come through the skies so unimaginably fast that his speed caused an air vacuum to form so strong it vaporized the air around him, rain starting to fall from all the ash buildup in the clouds he would whizz by the entity multiple times moving faster than the Entity just was prior and with an extension of his arm out Kÿr launched a hyper charged slash of pure Rajòz energy while using a small katana to unleash said attack. The Entity roared out in pain as it sliced right into its back making it falter forward, it scanned around as Kÿr flew by multiple times slicing at it over and over again as Rajòz struck the feline-like creature at light speed making his attacks more potent. Swerving between the fingers of the Entity, Kÿr blasted off after Hijìn as Rajòz stuck all around them, the Entity turning on a dime and charging after him on all fours.
They exploded through the ground, which was now covered with Kÿr rigged explosives making them falter for a quick second, shooting out the smoke cloud the entity clawed out to Kÿr as he flew through the air on his pseudo jet pack boosted by said Rajòz energy, Eyes coursing with the lightning in his system as he flew between all the attacks. Slicing at the wind making the clouds part the Entity lunged forward landing in even more explosives, Kÿr was laughing as he flew on trailing on after Hijìn who made it a pretty good distance away chucking more high level explosives everywhere as the Entity took chase. Vanishing instantly the Entity tried to backhand the feline-like creature only to no avail as Kÿr swerved right and chucked a barrage of missiles straight into its face forming another cloud of blast smoke in its way, jumping through and using both hands the Entity cupped Kÿr in. The small man's flying through their hand as it began to slowly close around him, tentacle growths shooting at him from all directions as his tail swung around slicing off all that came in his way, shooting out just in time a massive explosion happened in between the Entities hand causing it to stagger back and land on his hands and knees, their nails digging into the ground once more as they looked onward. Kÿr flying through the sky would see Hijìn and instantly attach his booster onto his paraglider, Hijìn was about to question it before they shot forward at such speeds they nearly disappeared from its sight, yet just as they vanished so did the entity whom now gave chase. Zipping all around through canyons and rock formations they blasted through it all at unimaginable speeds, Kÿr shielding Hijìn with a protective thin layer barrier to ensure he doesn't fry his friend from all the Rajòz hitting them mid air only boosting their speed. Turning back the Entity was hot on their trail as it smashed through everything to try and reach them, their attacks being dodged only to be met with more staggering explosives made them more and more furious, but shooting so far ahead Kÿr would swerve back facing the incoming entity in front of them. The entity charging at them at full speed with claws neared out at them Kÿr would float Hijìn down to the ground safely with the remaining fuel in the paraglider as he charged one final move, "Ohhh Ho Ho I've been practicing this for a long time..and with some ideas your Fuckin toast you amalgamated WHOREEE!!!!", Kÿr screamed out as he clapped his hands together making time slow down for a fraction of a second. Water droplets slowly falling down by him his arms would slowly fuse together, metal pieces merging more and more growing larger and larger, wires connecting into perfect tubes, energy filling in the main chamber until a giant several hundred foot long laser was formed. With a cocky smirk spreading across his face Kÿr would spit out some blood as the Rajòz came down upon him supercharging the attack, Entity catching on to the time skipped would be met face to face with said laser and with no time to dodge it Kÿr would yell out, "ROT IN THE ETERNAL AFTERLIFE YOU USURPED FILHTY RAPING PARASITIC WHORE!!!!!!", before the laser blasted out faster than light itself striking the entity with full strength.
Hijìn falling back would witness a giant explosion of red energy strike down at the Entity, Illuminating the dark sky in a violent red piercing light, as he tumbled onto the hard ground with his paraglider absolutely destroyed all he could see was the dust before the worst thing he could never imagine happened. Kÿr disassembled the laser beam gasping for literal air as the energy flowing through his was so much it made him hyperventilate, just that one thing cemented a horror into his mind as the dust cleared from the surrounding area. The Entity stood there unfazed from the blast literally unharmed and as it vanished faster than the all seeing eyes could predict at the Entity thrust it's arm at full strength backhanding Kÿr out of the sky out in the distance over the horizon, Hijìn screaming out in bloody murder as he saw this happen- trying his best to run over only to no avail. Looking up at the sky to realize said destroyer was staring down at him with those same cold dead eyes. Kÿr could barely scream out as he couldn't even react to such an attack so quick, he was overwhelmed and nearly obliterated by the attack, his lungs punctured by his shattered ribs stabbing into his organs, right arm shattered, and a fracture in his right arm the feline-like creature flew off never to be seen again as his blood exploded out of his mouth. "I..I...failed you..H-hiJj..in..", Kÿr muttered under his breath as the color in his eyes faded and soon closed, clothes coated in blood and pieces of metal in his very body- Forgone..
A massive eruption of energy surged as Rajòz struck all around as the Entity full force kicked Hijìn in the side almost ripping him in half with one kick, Hijìn screamed out gasping for breath as the parasite held his body together except for the large hole blown into his side, "YOU WHORE IM NOT GOING DOWN IM TAKING YOU WITH ME!!!!", screamed out the parasite through Hijìn's mouth. The shock nearly instantly incapacitating him as blood burst out of the hole in his side and his mouth, blood dripping from his eyes just as the Entity came crashing down on top of him about to punch at him again. "BLOOD!!!!!!", screamed the parasite as hard as it could from Hijìn's mouth, as through the whole in Hijìn's side the parasite used almost all of its mass to make a giant fist not as large as the entity, but enough to defend itself that when the entity came down on him the fist sticking out of the hole in Hijìn's body extended itself and clashed with the incoming fist. The strength of the entity forcing Hijìn deep into the ground rendering the attack useless, vanishing just as they did this the Entity teleported back with its bow in his hands copying it straight from V's arsenal, but now covered in the parasites red and black vines, it would pull back the bowstring arming a giant arrow shot in its hand. Hijìn slowly got up the crater he was forced into staring out to the entity stranding incredibly far, the arrow shot making the world around them glow the distinct green always tied with V just now the energy surged and the now green turned into a pulsing black and red energy. Hijìn instinctually dodged thinking he's got out of it as he faces up only to be met with the Fate V predicted all that time ago, the blast crossed the wasteland instantly heading straight for Hijìn- it would split in two mid air forming into two strange dragon-like projectiles that spun around one another before colliding and forming a larger creature of darkness that struck Hijìn plowing him straight into the ground vaporizing the wasteland instantly.
No reaction not even a chance to fight back, could it be they were holding back this whole time? There would be no way right? Kÿr is sent off and Hijìn is nothing but bits and remnants of his remaining body trying it's best to reform as the parasite within him wanted to survive, a arch angel of death jumping up through the clouds so high they reach the upper atmosphere, horns blazing through the stars for a moment before they plummeted at full force slamming both feet on top of the barely alive man. The next three miserable days was the Entity full force pounding it's sharp knuckled fists into the man making his body a bloody pulp further and further, parasite barely even able to withstand such attacks just stayed there limp, the final day the Entity would arise from the hundreds of mile deep hole it dug itself when punching Hijìn into nothin but a shit stain on the ground. It would roar out from its deep carapace neck, it truly was the pinnacle of all life..nothing to compete against it a small spec would be blasted out of the entities back as it began to walk in the same direction as Kÿr went all that time ago. Where could it be going? What fell out of it? So many questions and the only remaining piece of it all was one of Hijìn's eyes and fragments of his skin gripping onto bare life on the ground from all the beatings, somber faded white, glistening faded sight, nothing but a husk of itself fell onto the ground not so far away- Look at all you've done.. "I'm so proud of you Vìrkä (Vír-Ka) you've made your mother so proud...now that you and that pest of a creature are out of the picture we can move onto our next goal, Love you Honey~ may I see you floating around in the afterlife till you fade into nothing my darling~"
Look what you've done, your mistakes were always present yet you did this all in the pursuit of true family, your jealousy of wanting the same as everyone else resulted in the demise of everyone around you don't you see th-
I do! Yes I do! I swear! I do! Just believe Me! I-i do..I-I would give up my foresight- my healing, my strength, my all! I would I truly would just so I can hug her again..I...I don't even know if she's even alive..my emotions are wrought in all directions and what can I even do any longer? This is all my fault..ever since they landed she wanted me to pursue her goals with the promise I'll get the family I always wanted for us ignoring the fact me and Hèr'La were perfect as sisters..See my sins and condemn me for them I'll take them on the stake as I burn for all eternity..just give me one last chance..your glowing white ethereal horns of the depths, shadowed eyes revealing the night sky, and grace so heavenly I bow only to you..
All Father..I beg of you..Bless me this once with your love..just..one..more..time..
One final chance..so I can Hold Hèr'La one final time..
If she still beats her beautiful heart to the world..
I'm sorry..
I love you too Sis..

Mother Miranda x Lawyer!Oc ----Tilted Scales
Hello guys :) This is another commission I wrote for the amazing, wonderful @saltwatereulogies
Your support has been insane, I can't thank you enough. Hope you enjoy the story ❣
Tumblr media
Three days.
That is how long you've been in the village, after years of studying abroad, before everything turns to shit.
As you slowly blink focus back into your eyes, you try to clear the haze from your mind. It feels as though you've collided with a truck. Your body hurts, your wrists protest in their iron cuffs, stuck to the wall as they are, having supported your weight while you were unconscious.
Desperately, you try to recollect the events that led you here...
A grey sky. A bleak day. One moment you were making coffee for your mother, excited to be able to sit down with her in the mornings again... and the next you heard the echo of screams.
Overcome by adrenaline, you bolted out of your house, only to witness a scene straight from a nightmare; humanoid monsters ripping villagers apart, cries and blood and animalistic growls all blending together into one mad mix.
And before you could even warn your mother...
Damn it all, what the fuck happened!
You suddenly struggle against your bonds, hard enough to rattle your whole frame. Your wrists burn from the grind against metal, but you don't care–
“Stop that. It is pointless and you will only injure yourself.” A cold voice, strangely familiar, says from far to your right.
You peer deep into the shadows, searching for the only other person in the empty room... until you see her. A mask advances on you, gold and shaped like a crow's visage, then wings folded into a cloak come into view.
You would be a fool to not recognize her. The local saint. The village's prophet. The very 'saint' your mother prayed to, for your safe return, all these years. Mother Miranda.
The sound of her heels bounces off the walls until she comes to stand directly in front of you. Looking past the openings of her mask now, you realize....
This isn't possible.
She hasn't aged a day. Not a single day, since you left the village. The years should show around her deadly blue eyes, somewhere, and yet they don't.
“I see you remember me...” she says, while you're still trying to find your voice. “Miss Warren.”
“What is going on? Mother Miranda, what happened to the village?!” you demand.
Her expression shows nothing. “The village is in need of... renovation.” she speaks, even, regal. “Repopulation, even.”
You stare at her with wide eyes.
“Now, don't give me that look. You would not be here if you weren't of the ones I chose to keep.” she continues. “You see, from now on, every single person in my domain will make themselves useful in some way, or they will be replaced. And you... you have been abroad studying law for a while now, yes?”
“I... yes.” you reply, still not fully having wrapped your mind around your situation.
“Excellent. What I need from you is simple. You will make the village independent from the state’s taxes as a religious organization... and you will keep foreign investors out from that point onward.”
What... what part of that is simple?!
“Do that for me and in return I guarantee your mother and you will go back to your house safe and sound. You will have no shortage of Lei for as long as you live, Miss Warren.” Miranda promises.
But it is not the sweet part of the deal your mind stays glued to. “And if...” you gulp. “If I can't work around the law to do that...?”
Miranda blinks slowly at you, like you shouldn't even ask such a basic question. Like the answer is obvious.
“Well. Then I have no further use for either of you.”
It is in this moment that it dawns on you.
This woman is no angel and no saint.
She is a devil.

-
You spend countless sleepless nights pouring over every single paragraph, every little opening or ambiguity in the law you can use to free the village of taxes.
To keep your mother in the dark about this, you work in the office Mother Miranda has provided for you, in her very stronghold.
Although technically it's her home, you don't see her nearly as much as you initially thought. She is gone throughout the day and returns late at night, not even sparing you a glance before heading for her chambers, at the upper sections of the building.
The days she does come into your office to inquire on your progress are few and far-between, your conversations always short and cold.
This evening is different.
“How is your work coming along, Miss Warren?” the prophetess asks with her aggravatingly nice accent, seating herself like a queen on the chair in front of your desk.
Your eyes are tired, but you force them on hers, through the mask obscuring her face. “I think I've got it. I'll be sending the necessary papers tomorrow and the answer shouldn't take longer than a month.”
“Very good.” she nods, a miniscule curve to her lips.
Icy eyes then drop to the wine in the whiskey glass at the corner of the desk. You think she will make a comment about drinking at work, but instead she says;
“Pour me a glass, will you?”
You will your hands steady as you comply, then carefully slide her drink over.
Miranda takes her mask with claw-shrouded fingers... and soundnessly sets it on the wooden surface. Then she pushes the veil at her hair back, shaking long, platinum locks free.
You do a double take you hope she doesn't notice. Because what the actual fuck.
You didn't think her hair was that long, or that straight, or that it would fall over her shoulders like she's staring in a shampoo ad. You didn't think her lips were shaped like a cupid's bow or that her skin was this flawless and radiant.
The helplessly lesbian part of you could begrudgingly admit she was beautiful before... but now you arrive to the painful realization she's drop-dead gorgeous.
“So. I've heard you won cases others would describe as impossible.” she begins.
“Nothing's impossible. You just need to know where to look.” you reply. Law is your comfort zone and she is not that far above you here. “But how do you know that?”
“I have my sources.”
"Nobody truly leaves this village, huh.”
“Not without my consent, no. But I knew you'd come back.” At your slight frown, she elaborates, “You would never leave your mother behind.”
She's right. There was a whole world of opportunities waiting for you out there and yet... here you are.
“Good work, so far. You can take the next two days off. Your eyes could use the rest, Miss Warren.” Miranda speaks, finishing her wine.
“Sarah.” you say. 'Miss Warren' is for clients and she is your boss.
Miranda's lips give a slight quirk that may or may not be a trick of the light.
“I know.” she replies and exits the room, long hair billowing behind her back.
-
-
The taxes were only the first challenge. Now that the village is free of them, investors are flying in circles around it like vultures over meat.
In the meantime, Miranda comes to talk to you more frequently.
Lately, it seems she has more free time. You wish that was a good thing, but...
“So... are you like... going to stay here?” You ask after reading the same sentence five times to make sense of it, because her gaze on you is distracting as fuck.
“I'm not getting in the way of your work.” she says. You want to argue she is, but can't quite do that in a way that won't get you killed.
“I'm simply not used to working with company. Isn't this boring for you?”
“No, actually. I find it interesting, even though science is my field of expertise.” she answers. “And the way you take notes is… amusing.”
You try not to blush as you look down at your notebook, filled with different colored markers and post-it squares with tiny stick figures pointing to the more important paragraphs. You have been doing this for so long to sort out information you didn't even realize you were keeping it up in her presence.
“What is this supposed to be?” she asks with a small smile, the first of its kind you've seen.
To your horror, her clawed pointer aims at a particularly silly doodle, barely the size of a pencil's eraser.
“A... bird.” you grimace like you've been stabbed.
“Ah, of course.” Miranda holds back a chuckle but you can tell she's dying to make a comment.
Studying becomes hell for the rest of the time she's there with you, those sharp eyes picking apart every little move you make. At the same time, though, the hours you spend with her make you realize...
She's not a saint, though she may look like one. She's not completely a devil, either, even if she may act as one, at times.
She's human.
-
-
Miranda shares nothing about herself when you chat, but she seems to like it when you speak about your time abroad and all the things that left an impression on you there.
Your conversation over wine is cut short, however, when you receive a call from a number you learned means nothing but trouble, lately.
“Sorry, I have to take this.” you tell her.
The one calling you is none other than this month's rival lawyer, trying to dispute your claim over the land for his own boss. He's lost to you before, so it's also personal, but you are confident you have cornered them good with the latest papers you sent them...
And you are proven correct, when, a few seconds later, he is all faux polite on the other line, resorting to offering you money for you to withdraw your arguments.
Miranda comes to stand next to you, listening in to what he's saying.
The problem with that is, the second her arm brushes yours and you catch a whiff of her perfume –which always lingers in your office long after she's left— youare the one who stops listening to him.
Your attention flies to other things, like the inches she has on you, the exact color of her pale blonde hair, the little glint of victory in her stunning eyes.
Oh, no. God, no...
You know what this is, the feeling in the pit of your stomach. Alarm bells go off in the back of your head, as though your own mind is telling your body how foolish it's being.
There isn't a worse thing you can do to yourself than be attracted to Miranda.
-
-
Over time, familiarity with the prophetess brings higher levels of difficulty into your 'try to ignore your crush on her' game.
Miranda joins your side and leans over your shoulder, sometimes, to peer down at what you're doing. You don't move and don't breathe until she's within a safe distance again.
Then there are the wayward 'reward' touches, when you turn another investor away from the village. She may pat your back or leave her hand on your shoulder, or even scratch your nape with her claws as a job well done.
You hope your poker face hides the fact you feel her touch on you for far longer than you should, after she's gone.
Tonight, the situation is the toughest it's ever been for you.
There is a rainstorm going on outside; the waterdrops are tapping against the windows of your office as though they're trying to break it. Miranda has pulled her chair next to you so you can talk easier, without having to shout over the cacophony.
“And basically the judge's decision was that—”
You are interrupted by a blinding flash of lighting, during which your mind lets you know the stronghold is easily the tallest structure in it's vicinity—
When thunder cracks down the sky and strikes the building, you nearly scream. Your body tenses and you jump; but Miranda's hands come to your biceps and hold you steady, against herself and your desk.
Another flash comes before you really have time to think about your proximity. She covers your ears with her palms before the thunderclap can send you into overdrive again.
“You are with me and you're scared of a little thunder?” she teases when things quiet down and your heartbeat eases.
It's true; Miranda is the more terrifying force of nature. At the same time, however...
You feel oddly safe to be this close to her.
“Well... I'm not scared right now...” you quietly admit.
Her pointer comes underneath your chin and lifts it so you are looking straight into her hypnotic blue eyes. How is this color even real...
“And why is that?” Miranda asks, her wings coming around you both. They're curtains of black, cutting out some of the storm's sounds.
You want nothing more in this moment than to run your fingers through each individual feather.
You lick your lips. That's...not a question you can answer if you want the balance in your arrangement with her to remain.
Perhaps, though, the scales have tilted for you long ago. You just haven't been brave enough to admit it.
You have the courage to face it now when she leans down and covers your lips with hers, warm in a manner you never imagined she could be.
Her wings pull tighter around you and your mouths slide more firmly together. Lipbalm and creamy lipstick mix, tongues brush, tasting of wine. You are shaking so bad on the inside from how much you want this, more of this, the rumbling of the thunder be damned.
Miranda's palm cups your flaming cheek when she pulls back, perfectly composed and staring at you with a little smirk in place.
You dare to turn a little, lay a tiny kiss on the inside of her wrist, beyond her rings and accessories.
You aren't very fond of storms, but...
You willingly walk right into the eye of this one.

hugging his knees on the pavement, oikawa tooru couldn't help but overhear the faint chitter of loved ones greeting each other, serving as a reminder to why he was lamenting in the first place. a combination of heavy sobs and pleas of a miracle, he had grown used to, yet he still found the letters engraved on the cold stone in front of him almost foreign.
the anniversary of your death was fast approaching. caught in the fast lane of change, tooru has experienced almost every stage of grief. almost.
he remembers a shade of reddish brown framing your corpse. a metallic odour accompanied by tears burning every inch of his face, creating a sickly feeling in the back of his throat, which only multiplied as he released his frustration in the form of bargains.
' if only's ' and ' what if's ' his brittle voice had echoed — temporary truces, in which he begged and pleaded with every god and goddess known to the universe, in an attempt to negotiate his way out of this harsh reality.
from denial to anger, and from bargaining which soon melted into his current state of stark numbness in your absence. the past seemed more alive than the present.
stationed on the 4th, hazy reminders of a once living past seemed to obstruct his path of progression leading to the 5th and final phase of this grieving process that must inevitably follow. acceptance.
tooru is a competitive man. on the court, he is capable of adapting to new environments, examining their playing style, studying each and every player in a matter of seconds and having the ability to draw out their strengths — thus, blending into the team as if he was apart of the original line up.
yet, surrounded by this atmosphere of sorrow and anguish, he stuck out like a sore thumb. even after scrutinizing how others had dealt with this profound feeling of misery, their so called 'methods' were in vain, and he continued to suffer.
his fear of being second best, he now had no chance of overcoming. because as if in a race, tooru was exasperated, struggling to catch up with everyone else.
even the stars are lonely, but at least there were a multitude to keep company, and he couldn't help but envy them. your family, friends, hanamaki, matsukawa, hajime, even takeru had accepted the fact that you were gone, as they smiled fondly, memory sweet with you.
tooru could not remember the last time he smiled — a genuine one, that is. one that isn't plastered on when prompted with the constant ' how are you holding up? '. one that creeps up to his eyes to resemble a crescent moon. one with familiarity and love. one because of you.
the setting sun bathed everything in shades of lavender, painting the flowers propped beside your grave a colour he had wished they were. telling a tale of many consecutive days spent in this location, they bloomed brightly and never wilted away for they were regularly changed with a newer, hand picked bouquet. today, the flowers hadn't the ability to mock him, for today was different.
earlier, under what he thought were unfortunate circumstances, he was left stricken by the lack of purple petals accessible. left with no other choice, he let his fingers fumble along those coloured as snow instead. however, opting for these flowers proved to be difficult, as he realised he was breaking his routine.
because the shadow of the past still hung over, his fear of being second best soon morphed into a fear of change. a fear of everything changing. again, while he still had not adjusted to his scars wounded by time. it was nearing a year since tragedy struck. a year since that decisive moment of change.
but due to a sudden yet short lived act of bravery, tooru chose to cease sewing the seeds of habit, and as of right now, he found himself laying these flowers in their accustomed seat atop the gleaming stone. stems slightly compressed due to his secure grip, but petals remaining untouched. although both were chrysanthemums, the previous batches had been violet, and the current were white, simple as.
it is only when his nephew appears in his peripheral, he is snapped out of his trance, plastering a soft smile to veil his conflicting thoughts. hardly a word is spoken between them as takeru gently places an article of clothing on his lap, then is soon walking off.
leaving tooru with more questions than answers, his eyes shift downwards and widen at the sight of his old aoba johsai uniform folded ever so neatly. at an agonizingly slow pace, his slender fingers start to inspect every nook and cranny of the oversized — on you, not him — jersey. he holds it gingerly for this specific piece of fabric is a memory preserved.
and like a bridge to the past, tooru finds himself traversing along the nostalgic path, illuminated by memories time seemed to have dimmed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
as if the past is burned into his psyche, he still remembers the day you ignored him, well at least tried to.
though your actions were deemed fruitless, as you soon dropped your facade when he eventually caught up to you while you were walking home. mentally cursing yourself for your futile attempts at avoiding him, you had confessed that you were not in fact jealous, but curious as to why there were so many girls wearing his exact jersey. there was an attempt to stifle a laugh, yet one look at the stubborn pout on your face was all it took for tooru to burst out laughing.
"what is so funny?" you had tilted your head with a slight scowl painting your features.
impatiently tapping your foot, you waited for a response, but from his hunched figure and the smack! when he brought his hand to his knee was confirmation that his fit of laughter wasn't going to die out any time soon.
"oikawa" you had puffed, and the use of his last name was enough to get his attention, as he flicked an invisible tear off his face.
dramatically, with his hand latched onto his hip to form his signature stance, his free arm stretched out and squeezed your shoulders.
"they're not mine" he chuckled with a shrug and a smile — smug, yet genuine.
"listen tooru, i'm not dumb. you're the team captain right? the number 1's on the back practically mocked me!"
"may i ask, how many were there?"
"you mean how many were wearing your uniform? hmm i don't know, maybe every single girl i saw cheering?"
"yeah, and do you really think i'd have that many jerseys to give away? iwa-chan would be kicking my ass if i was constantly getting new jerseys!"
moments of silence passed and you figured that he was right, but your stubborn demeanour wasn't going to admit defeat that easily.
"i suppose that it would cost a lot of money, which you don't have, seeing as i was the one who had to pay for lunch yesterday. plus, you uhh, still seem as small as you were in first year so i assume you wouldn't need a change in size"
feigning a gasp, he clutched his heart and claimed that it was his turn to ignore you. snickering in response, he cupped your face and peppered it with kisses until he spoke up again.
"you know, ordering uniforms are pretty common for fangirls. buuut, you don't have to spend a single dime 'cause there's only one i'd like you to wear"
digging into his bag whilst motioning you to lift your arms up, he pulled out his aoba johsai jersey. he quickly put it on you and stood back, admiring how the cloth adorned you — no, how you adorned the cloth. this went on for a while, him staring at you in pure adoration, until his face lit up and he went back to fumbling in his bag.
"here! to fully establish that this is for you and you only, a limited edition, aoba johsai uniform, signed by the oikawa tooru" he beamed, placing the top of a permanent marker in between his teeth and biting the lid off.
his left hand found purchase on your waist as the other was in the midst of signing the front and back of your shirt with his signature. tooru being, well, tooru, he began to embellish the entire fabric in little hearts with ' tooru + y/n 's in large lettering, until he was interrupted by your arms outstretching and pulling him in for a hug. deciding against sulking about not getting to finish his oh so lovely drawings, he instead chose to reciprocate and nuzzle into your neck, basking in your warmth.
from then on, it was an essential garment to your outfits. yes, you were reluctant as the bright turquoise colour certainly did not match with everything, but ' you can pull off anything ' is what tooru had claimed. some fashion advice coming from the mf who wore plaid shorts <3
unlike the rest of your clothes in the closet collecting dust, it remained hung up on the handle, ready for use. from matches to study dates which later transitioned into sleepovers, he always complimented your attire in different ways as if it was your first time wearing it.
braiding his chocolate coloured locks, he lay on top of you, the back of his head on your stomach as he made an effort to mirror the rhythm of your breathing with every rise and fall of your chest.
after a lack of commentary, you noticed that he was not staring off into space, but rather the glow in the dark stars you had stuck up on your ceiling. deciding to take advantage, you extended your arm to switch off the lamp adjacent your bed, and while the light faded, the stars gathered overhead.
"oh - hurry up tooru, look! it's a shooting star, make a wish" you gushed, having one eye shut while the other awaited his reaction.
"come on now, you know i didn't bring my glasses with me today, hmph"
"no no, how does that saying go — you don't have to be able to see it to believe it! you're the one always saying those cliche quotes all the time"
".. angel, i'm sorry but this is all just a yellow blur to me. i really can't see anything"
huffing at his habitual use of endearment, you wrapped your hand around his wrist and straightened out his index finger to guide it towards the ' shooting star ' that had not moved from the centre of your ceiling.
"better?"
"much"
letting out a satisfied hum, you both closed your eyes, your conversation, but not your minds as they wished upon the faithful glints of gold which magnified the tranquility of it all.
you eased your grip around his wrist but he took this as an opportunity to interlock his fingers with yours. and with the stars winking from a pitch black sky, your wishes combined, and the soft squeeze of your hands, it was a silent promise that you would always be with each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
perhaps it was the flower's slight change in hue which resulted in this caprice of fate, because for the first time, he finds himself recalling positive memories rather than remnants of your death.
and for the first time, tooru accepts. the unknown feeling envelops him, yet it does so with open arms, a welcoming smile, and no judgement.
the way he allows his tears dye the turquoise clothing a darker shade, he recognizes that he is no longer under the false pretence that all is well.
he need not question why the corners of his lips subliminally upturn, because as as he clutches this jersey, it's almost as if he is clutching you once more.
while the last stars still fleck the sky, he thanks those lucky stars, for it is you there with him, and he finds solace in your presence.
but this time, tooru isn't afraid to let go.
by no means does he intend to let go of you, no — never. but to let go of the affliction, pain, and instead have regard for the past in preparation for the future. in preparation for change.
and with his damp high school uniform, his smile that is heartful, and the lyra hanging heavy in the eastern sky, they all begin to coalesce into his former self.
the tooru who is not a genius. the tooru who underestimates his own strength, the tooru who overcomes adversity. the tooru, whom you are in love with.
and with the knowledge, and most importantly, acceptance, that you are no longer here with him physically,
oikawa tooru knows that wherever he goes, there you are.

Pretty Lies
-- Karl Heisenberg X OC (AFAB, She/They) --
This one was... interesting to write. I had an idea and went with it, so I'm not sure how it'll turn out?? Also an irl friend fucking hates me for it since he read it and it tortured him, so ENJOY HAHAHAHAAAA
**Small reminder that I have a small 'Masterlist' for these!**
-----------
*Warning?: Hella angst, mentions of blood/slaughter, mention of/somewhat active kidnapping, arguments
Summary: Emelia had never experienced a village 'purge' before, until now. A surprising discovery, followed by a very, VERY unwelcome guest and a painful lie.
Tumblr media
The small village was eerily silent. The Lycan attack had done a number, rendering the buildings destroyed and previously untouched snow stained with blood. Footsteps disrupted the remainder of the snow as Emelia and Heisenberg made their way through the silent carnage, both of their heads on a swivel as their breath came out in plumes of vapor. A thick, hooded fabric rested over Emelias shoulders partially keeping her warm, and an old eyepatch covered the left side of her face. She hadn't worn it in quite some time, but the temperature change was too severe not to. She still shivered lightly, but any irritation from the cold was replaced by sheer surprise and... even the slightest amount of horror.
"Bloody hell..." she muttered, pausing her movements to look at a particularly mangled corpse before shivering again and tugging the fabric to pull the hood more over her head. The man behind her only kept moving, his eyes drifting over the mess nonchalantly as he puffed at the cigar between his lips.
"You get used to it." He said quietly. "Purges aren't often. Its a fear tactic if the villagers get too... 'rowdy' and 'non-believing'. Or, that's what she wants them to think."
"MIRANDA does this??" She asked, a hint of disgust in her voice. He shrugged.
"Nothing we can control. Spread the fear and gather blood for the Cadou, that's what we do."
Emelia kept her eye on him as he walked past her, the massive hammer over his shoulder gathering the white substance as snow flurries fell around them. He clearly wasn't exactly happy... Sure, the man loved his destruction and bloodshed, but only when done by himself and himself alone. Or maybe her if she was lucky or if necessary, or even for simple amusement. But she remained silent, jogging slightly to meet him again. Even with him... Even working on Soldats, she had never seen this much blood. Even fighting the zombified creatures in the factory and Lycans herself didn't prove to be this bad. She didn't know how to feel about it... She was used to blood, of course. But only with a single body or two at once... Not an entire village.
She stuck close to him, almost bumping his shoulder as they continued to walk, eventually averting her gaze to stare at her feet. She couldn't... She couldn't look at them. Even she felt the weight of the dead villagers on her shoulders, and she had nothing to do with it. They only walked a few more steps before a sound made them both pause, their heads turning simultaneously towards a small patch of snow free from flesh and gore. Heisenberg gripped the handle of the hammer and took a step forward, only to stop as Emelia held out her hand.
"Wait..." she nearly whispered, training her eye on a small moving figure. He curled his lip.
"Do you know what she'll do to you if it's not dead?" He growled, nodding to the figure. She shook her head and focused, only for her breath to catch in her throat as she realized what it was.
A child.
"Oh my god..." she said quietly, her hand lowering.
"Emelia-"
She took off before he could say anything else, working to a light jog in the snow before she reached the now cowering child. The boy seemed to have rags for clothing, the fabrics stained and torn from what she could only assume came from the attack. He nearly stumbled back as she approached, holding up her hands as if to show she meant no harm.
"Hey..." she said quietly, pausing as the child whimpered. Near frozen tears stained the boys cheeks as he looked up at her in pure fear. She frowned, crouching onto one knee. "I won't hurt you..." she continued. "Where are you from...?"
The boy didn't answer, only backing away once another shadow appeared next to her. She glanced over to see Heisenberg give a disapproving scowl.
"We have to go." He said simply. Emelia simply shook her head, looking back to the child.
"Was this your home?" She asked, relaxing somewhat as the boy finally nodded.
"Monsters came..." the boy whimpered, his shaky hand reaching up to rub at his face. "Mommy and daddy are gone..."
"Gone?"
He meant 'dead'.
Another nod from the boy. Emelia frowned for a moment. She didn't think there was a survivor from this... Why did the Lycans leave him? Did they even know he was here? A groan from behind her alerted her to the metal man's shift in posture.
"Emelia, we NEED to go." He growled, now sounding somewhat impatient. "Just leave him and-"
"No. I'm not leaving him." She snapped suddenly, glaring back at him before giving a huff. She then looked back at the child. She offered a light smile and held out her hand. "We can help you find them."
"'We'??" Heisenberg said, his lip curling into the slightest bit of a snarl. "What are you-"
"Shut up, you twit!!" She growled again, watching the man roll his eyes and shake his head.
While still clearly afraid, the boy stood and slowly approached her.
"Can you find them...?" He asked, almost letting out a new choked sob. Emelia nodded.
"Yes. And of we can't, we have somewhere warm to get you out of the cold. Does that sound alright with you?"
She gave a warm smile, and the boy nodded before suddenly throwing his arms around her shoulders. She returned the hug carefully, feeling a light fluttering in her chest from her own Cadou from the sudden cold feeling. Maybe if she could help just one...
"Come on..." she said quietly, lifting the boy with ease and holding him on her hip. She covered his shoulders with her own cloak as he kept his arms around her shoulders. "Stay strong, boy. You'll be alright..."
"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Heisenberg finally piped up, his irritation evident as she turned to him with the boy in her arms.
"WE are going home." She said matter-of-factly, lifting her chin. "After we... 'look' for his parents- Hold on, sweetie."
Emelia covered the boys head with the cloak and pressed her palm against his ear. The child only snuggled to her with a sniffling nod. Heisenberg rolled his eyes.
"You're JOKING." He said, gesturing around them. "They're probably dead just like everyone else here. Lycan food or taken."
"Or they could have hidden."
"These purges leave no one alive, that kid isn't an exception."
"Well obviously he is!" She huffed, watching as he neared her ever so slowly. He pointed at the boy in her arms.
"We're not taking him back. YOU'RE not taking him back." He growled. "There's enough to worry about in that goddamn factory and I'm not adding a KID to it, much less one that's supposed to be DEAD-"
"And how would you like it if it were you?!" Emelia snapped, baring her teeth at him as he physically recoiled. "If this were you, wouldn't you want a warm place after witnessing this destruction? I never said we would keep him-"
"I-... Stop- stop saying 'we'. This is not a 'we' situation, Emelia." He managed. She shifted on her feet slightly.
"Fine then. I never said I would keep him. But he is coming with."
"No, he's not-"
"Yes he is! You of all people should know how it feels to be a scared child!"
Another recoil. Another growl.
"STOP bring me into this-"
"I will not until you realize how bloody wrong you are." She nodded to the child. "He hasn't done a thing wrong. I wouldn't want to be left in the cold like this and neither would you, and you know it. Hell, I don't even want to be out here in the first place. But if I can help-"
"He's going to cause trouble-"
"He's a CHILD!"
Heisenberg nearly threw his hands up in frustration, pinching the bridge of his nose after removing the his glasses. She HAD to be fighting him on this. She just had to come with, and she just had to find the kid, and she just absolutely HAD to add HIM into her thought process.
And he knew why. He knew EXACTLY why. He knew why she threw him into the mix, and he hated to admit that she was at least somewhat right.
He hated this too.
"Emmy, PLEASE-" he started, rubbing his temple.
God damn her... She kept her hard glare at him as he looked off to the side. Why was he ACTUALLY conflicted about this?? It was just a kid... A village kid. He had never cared much about the villagers before. There was no reason to. They were simply a few of many pawns in Miranda's clutches, slaughtered and taken like livestock every however many years, because that's all they were to her. So why was the woman in front of him making him question it-
"God damn it..." he muttered, closing his eyes and leaning his head back slightly. One look at her almost proved she had at least somewhat of a maternal instinct, and it admittedly tore him up just a little. Only in a few seconds did she make a much better mother than-
"He is coming with me, Karl. I don't care what you say." She replied finally, glancing at the boy for a moment with a genuine sadness. "I can't leave a child out here alone... He at least deserves a chance for living through this..."
"You are absolutely right." A sudden voice came from behind them. Emelia froze, absolute fear turning her veins ice cold as she watched Heisenbergs eyes widen behind his glasses.
No.
Oh NO.
She turned slowly, terrified, only to meet the winged figure of Mother Miranda mere feet behind her, the black and gold coloration of her clothing standing out heavily against the snow. The woman's face had been covered in a metallic veil as she reached out a hand towards Emelia and the child.
"... M-... Miranda..." she nearly whispered. The tall woman chuckled, but not out of amusement. Emelia could vaguely see her eyes from behind the metal piece over her face- they were cold and emotionless, just how she remembered them. She felt more fluttering from her Cadou as her heart sped up, fighting back the parasites automatic response to mutate. She almost flinched as she spoke.
"Please, leave the child with me. I can guarantee warmth and safety far better than anyone..." Miranda's eyes flicked between her and the man behind her, who she could nearly physically feel stiffen. "Isn't that right, Heisenberg?"
"... Yes, Mother Miranda." The man replied quietly. Emelia jumped, turning back to see him nearly at her side. Wait, when did he get so close? More importantly, did he just AGREE??
"W-Wait..." Emelia tried, only to be silenced by a warning glance from the him. The boy shifted in her arms, his gaze settling on the robed woman in front of them. A recognition seemed to spark in the childs round eyes as he repeated the name, though Emelia held him tighter.
"I assure you he will be cared fore under my wing." Miranda spoke again, taking another step forward. Emelia attempted to take a step back, only to be stopped by Heisenberg.
"She was gonna help me find my family..." the boy finally spoke up. All three heads swiveled towards him, and Emelia felt a wave of guilt through her chest. She opened her mouth, but Miranda beat her to it.
"That is awfully... kind of her." She spoke, giving a questioning glance to Heisenberg, who froze in place. This woman was going to get them BOTH killed, he thought. Miranda continued. "Thankfully there is no need... I know where they are, young man. They are safe and sound in the mountains and worried dearly about their son... Now please, come with me. I can take you to them."
"You can...?" The child asked, his small voice hopeful. He looked at Emelia once more as if asking permission, who then forced a smile under Miranda's hard gaze. She knew she couldn't deny... She had no choice.
"Y-Yes, um... Yes, she can..." she forced the lie through her teeth, though attempting to sound as pleasant as possible. She felt a gloved hand around the back of her neck as Heisenberg prevented her from moving, while also simultaneously attempting to clam her down as he gave a gentle squeeze. He always did when her own anxieties were high, or if a certain memory or nightmare plagued her mind... And it usually worked.
But it wasn't working right now.
"Please." Miranda insisted, keeping her hand out. The boy looked at her before returning his gaze to the woman holding him.
"They're all safe...? You mean it?" He asked, earning a stiff nod.
A few moments of tense silence passed before Emelia finally put the child down with a shaky breath, crouching to settle on her knees and reaching forward to wipe any remaining tears.
"You'll be alright..." she managed quietly, forcing a calm smile as the boy nodded before looking up at Heisenberg, who had to look away from the boys gaze.
"Promise...?"
Another rush of ice cold and fluttering.
"I promise." She nearly choked out.
She stayed where she was as the boys hand was taken by Miranda, causing them both to jump. The woman leaned down just slightly, meeting her eye with that of near suspicion. Emelia froze, her own eye widening. She had never been this close... Her hair stood on end with an odd fear as Miranda seemed to examine her, that fear only increasing as the dark robed woman stood straight once more and took the child into her own arms.
"Come now, child. Your future is a bright one... You will have a family again." She said, taking a few steps back. It wasn't until she locked eyes with Heisenberg that she spoke again. "Heisenberg, learn to control your... 'workers'. I will not ask again."
"Yes, Mother Miranda..." the man ground out, though forced a 'pleasant' smile before nudging Emelias side with his leg. "Come on."
"But-" her voice was lost to her as she watched Miranda walk away, the child peering over the woman's shoulder. It wasn't until he gave the smallest wave that she felt stinging at her eye, shakily lifting a hand to wave back before the woman and the boy disappeared with a sudden flurry of feathers.
She nearly sat in the snow, her gaze on the ground itself. Why did it hurt... Why did she feel guilty? She could hear noises surrounding them, seeing dark figures in the corner of her vision. Low growls were distant to her ears, alerting her to the Lycans that slowly began to fill the village once more. They wouldn't hurt them, she knew, but it gave her a horrible anxiety she had rarely felt. It wasn't until Heisenberg nudged her again that she finally felt a white hot tear roll down her cheek, making her flinch.
"Come ON, Emelia..." he almost growled, clearly straining. She didn't move.
"... Why..." she managed. He looked at her.
"Don't start, Emmy-"
"Why couldn't you stop her?"
"You know why." He grumbled, taking a step back. She glanced up to see a Lycan nearing her, but the creature stopped once she caught it's eye.
"No. I don't." She growled suddenly, her voice wavering slightly. "You HATE her, Karl. You KNOW what she's going to do with that child, why can't you stop her??"
"If I try, she'll-"
"She'll WHAT?! WHAT WILL SHE DO?!" She yelled, standing and tuning to face him with her teeth bared. Any semblance of growling around them stopped. Heisenberg stared at her, exhaling though his nose.
"She'll kill the both of us." He said simply, frowning. "Look, Emmy, I hate the bitch. I fucking despise her. But even I'm not stupid enough to take her head-on!"
"Have you ever TRIED?!"
"And throw away everything I've worked for?!" He yelled back, though she didn't flinch. "If the kid wasn't killed by the Lycans, he would have been taken by her anyway if the cold didn't get to him first! It happens every time there's a purge, there's no stopping it!"
"And you can't try to save ONE child?!" She took a step closer, feeling her arm twitch. "You can hide ME, but you can't hide a simple bloody child?! What the hell makes me so special?? What makes YOU so special?! Why can't you save just ONE if you know how it feels-"
"BECAUSE WE HAVE CADOU!! WE'RE NOT HUMAN!!!" He roared suddenly, causing her to draw back slightly. The air was dead silent before he sighed. "Emelia, I know your memories. I know your... 'attachment' to your human life. You've shared every little bit with me, it's hard to forget." He started, setting down the hammer and taking a few steps closer. "But you can't get attached to a single human child you found when you know damn well that bitch is around every corner ready to take them like she did-..." he paused, only to shake his head. "The point is, we aren't human." He continued. "A human has no place with us. With you, with me, with anyone. The most you can do is accept it and move on until my army is strong enough, and then you can go on with as much revenge as you want. But right now, we can't do shit."
"... Have you even tried?" She managed, her voice breaking just slightly. His brows furrowed in irritation.
"No, I-"
"Then how do you know?"
More silence. His eyes widened slightly at the look she gave him. She may have been as cold as he was to the outside. She made killing almost a second living next to her mechanic work, and regularly tore the other creatures to shreds when angry without remorse. But the look she gave... It was pain. Pain and anger. It wasn't often he saw that spark, the the last time was when she told him... When she told him...
It was then that it hit him.
She had only told him a week ago.
"Emmy..." he sighed, finally moving to stand in front of her. "Look. We can't stop this right now. As much I would like to... and I REALLY want to," he shrugged, "You can't have the life you wanted. You're not human anymore, no matter how hard you try."
"But he is. He's human. And he's a CHILD." She tried, tightening the cloak around her shoulders. "I couldn't give a damn about the adults, but he... He's innocent... He doesn't deserve to be like us. Like THEM." She gestured to the Lycans, who had more or less focused on the argument.
"Yes, I know, and that makes it... difficult." He managed. He sighed as she averted her gaze, flinching as he reached for her face. "Hey. Look at me."
He managed to take ahold of her jaw, making her look at him. The anger in her eye almost made him feel... bad.
"We will keep working. The army will grow. And we WILL crush her." He assured quietly, looking around them. "That bitch WILL die, and this won't happen again..." He only paused for a moment, choosing his words carefully. "... Kids won't be taken anymore, and you'll have a chance."
Emelia stared at him. She didn't know if he was serious or trying to make her feel better... But she wanted to believe him either way. When Miranda was gone, none of this would happen... right? Would they all be safe? She kept her eye on him before letting out a shaky sigh, reaching up to wipe her cheek while still keeping her face pressed to his hand.
"... I hate her..." she muttered. She sniffled lightly. "I hate her for this... I..."
"I know." Heisenberg sighed. "Soon, Emmy."
She was silent for a moment.
"... Am I stupid for hoping he's alright...?" She asked, looking down as he removed his hand. He shrugged.
"Unfortunately yes." He admitted, walking back to his hammer. She looked back up at him, watching as he reached for the handle.
"Would you have said yes? To taking him?"
She watched as he froze, his fingers touching the handle. He was silent, lowering his head slightly. Would he have? The Lycans had more or less scattered among the wreckage at this point, though few remained. Emelia glanced at the one close to her as it approached slowly with a low, questioning growl, and a new thought popped in her mind- Would she meet the child again like this? Her eye shot back to Heisenberg as he suddenly grabbed the hammer and slung it over his shoulder, his body stiff with it's movements.
"Would you, Karl?" She asked again, her voice more firm. But he said nothing, starting to walk forward. Was that a yes??
"Let's go." He said simply, not even turning back to look at her. She let out a huff.
"Answer me." She nearly yelled, starting to jog after him. He only stopped as she nearly jumped in front of him. "Would you have said yes?"
He jerked back, only to to give an irritated sigh.
"Emelia, let's just go-"
"Not until you answer me."
"I don't have a reason to."
"Bullocks."
"What reason, then?!" He growled. She suddenly stepped forward, their chests nearly touching as she glared at him.
"Because I need to know you're not entirely the monster you pretend to be around her." She stated. He twitched, and she continued. "Because if you are, that means I am too. And I refuse to acknowledge myself as that much of a creature thanks to her, because that's what we've been reduced to around her."
She pointed to the Lycan that had trailed her. Heisenberg followed with his eyes, watching as the Lycan stood and backed away with a light growl once he looked at it. Hearing her compare them to these beasts almost sent a rush of anger through his chest. No, they WEREN'T beasts like them. Of course they weren't. Beasts of a different sort, maybe. But not like those. He looked back at her, the smallest bit of anger in his face from the suggestion alone. But she kept her stare.
"Would you have said 'yes'." She repeated, her tone still harsh as her lip trembled. Even she couldn't tell it if was from the cold or the threat of crying again, and she hated both options. He seemed to hesitate before shaking his head with a grumble.
"... Maybe." He mumbled, glaring at her from behind his glasses. "ONLY maybe. That's all you're getting."
She couldn't help take a deep breath, lowering her arm slowly. He said... Even though it wasn't quite what she wanted, she didn't actually expect him so say anything close. 'Maybe' wasn't 'yes'... but it also wasn't 'no'. He nodded to the side and stepped forward, and she simply followed. She watched as he walked past, almost too stunned to move.
"For the last time Emelia, let's go." He said sternly, not looking back at her. She was silent, but quickly followed.
The snow continued to fall as they walked in silence, and she shivered. It seemed to get colder by the second no matter how much closer to the factory they were... Heisenberg glanced over at her as she kept her head down.
"You really won't let that dream die, will you...?" He asked quietly, the suddenness of his voice making her jump. But she took a breath and shook her head.
"Not while I'm alive." She replied, though looked up at him with near insult as he chuckled. "What...?"
"You're an odd one..." he said simply. "You're stupid for trying to keep it alive. But I admire that."
"It's what gives me a goal to survive this." She mumbled, shrugging the cloak closer over her shoulders. "If that dream is what keeps me going through a fight with her, then so be it. If she wants to ruin families, I won't die until I have my own."
"Hm."
He gave a light hum, keeping his eyes forward. 'Family'... She wanted so desperately to fight for one. How she held on to that tiny bit of hope was strange to him. It was strong enough to nearly take an orphan child as her own almost immediately... He couldn't help but feel what he could have only assumed was pity.
"You might see him again." He mumbled, his voice the tiniest bit thoughtful. She finally glanced at him with a frown.
"That's a sick joke..." her voice was low. He shrugged, but stayed silent. She shook her head. "The next time I see him would be a Lycan sighting if her ritual doesn't work..." she muttered, hugging her arms. "Which it never has... None of it ever..."
She trailed off, feeling a lump enter her throat. Heisenberg glanced at her before sighing and reaching over, wrapping an arm around her shoulder and bringing her to his side a bit roughly. She let out a surprised grunt, nearly stumbling. She didn't have to say a word as she looked at him, feeling the warmth of him through their now somewhat wet, snow-covered clothes.
"It's cold, you shouldn't be worrying about that right now." He mumbled, the grip on his hammer tightening. "I'll put together a few things for you to destroy back home, yeah?"
She said nothing for a moment, only to pull away and walk slightly faster.
"I think I'll stay in the Foundry..." she replied quietly, not turning around as he paused his footsteps. "Or take a walk."
"... Alright then." Heisenberg muttered, returning his arm to his side.
Silence returned to them as they walked, Emelia keeping her head down while staying a few feet in front of him at all times. All she could see in her head was the boys face... The small bit of hope behind his bright eyes. The small bit of hope she had in hers, ripped away once again. Maybe if she had run with the child immediately... Maybe she could have gotten back to the factory before Miranda had arrived. Could she? Would she have been able to with Heisenberg at her heels? Would he had even let her IN to the factory with the child? Was there even the slightest possibility she could save just one whenever the next purge happened, if it happened? Or maybe... She shook her head. No, no... She couldn't let any of these thoughts plague her much longer... It would fuck with her work. With THEIR work. One wrong move and the plan would go down in flames...
She had to keep trying. To keep hope. To keep up with their plans to destroy the woman. She already knew Heisenberg planned on utilizing her and his army, and she wanted nothing but to accompany him to watch Miranda burn. And once she was dead... Maybe. Just maybe, she could finally have her dream.
She could only hope.
