Silk Tree Studio (Hangatiki, Waikato)
Roughly three hours south of Auckland, a stone’s throw away from Waitomo Gloworm Caves, is this lovely BNB overlooking 300 acres of farmland.
Come for the dreamy foggy mornings and stay for the adorable pups demanding daily belly scratches.

Some photos from a recent Indigenous culture arts festival, which include various performances from HAKA Māori Cultural Experience. My first time witnessing a live haka ceremonial dance; both beautiful and terrifying. Amazing harmony, too. Lovely people.

Putāruru Blue Spring
Tumblr media
On a slightly rainy day, we crossed over the Kaimais to the small town of Putāruru - famous for its Blue Spring, from which much of New Zealand's bottled and commercial water is sourced. But the Blue Spring is far more famous for being... blue, and pretty, than for its economic value (and rightly so).

From a car park on Leslie Road, you can access Te Waihou walkway which will take you down to the Blue Spring.

The water here is filled with lush green vegetation and despite the dark, wet skies you can still see the blueness of the water.

There's also quite a lot of birdlife, mostly in the forms of ducks and Pūkeko.
