After getting that doodle reference done, I wanted a proper portrait- So this drawing was made! I wanted to play with all the fires effects and volcanic look to him. I'll admit, he's quickly becoming one of my favourites design wise. I just have so much fun with this sort of palette

Concept arts for Dess and King RUDOLPH. Dess' design is by Lily who made the talk sprite concept; I adapted it and tried out some different outfits.

Dess was always going to be tricky because we've never seen her in any official capacity. Our group has the headcanon that Mayor Holiday is blonde (which is where Noelle gets her hair from) so Dess has black hair to match her dad. We wanted to have her baseball/softball interest apparent while still keeping the feel of Toriel's robes, so she ended up with a purple letterman jacket and a nice plain sweater underneath. The rightmost design came from an idea of having to keep her face vague in case she appears in DELTARUNE, but it didn't look very friendly and we decided that if she does end up looking different, we can just change our design to match. No biggie.

The second picture is a doodle of me trying to figure out the vibes of the Depths (OTHERSWAP's version of the Ruins). They're composed of craggy, volcanic rock caverns and it's pretty warm there; the snow area is a joke like the snow on the roof of Sans' station in Hotland. Environment design has never been my strong suit so we're pretty lacking on visuals for the setting of OTHERSWAP.

King RUDOLPH has a cooler palette than Asgore, which is fitting because the last area of the Underground is very chilly. Obviously he needed to look like Santa, if Santa also had a badass scythe thing. He probably does somewhere. I'm still iffy on the weapon designs so don't take them as 100% final design just yet. He has silver accents to contrast with Asgore and a more... religious-y..... outfit underneath the cloak, unlike Asgore's armor. (Part of the reason is that I just didn't want to design more armor.) It's a little reminiscent of Noelle's Dark World outfit if you squint enough too.

Since Boss Monsters age when their children grow up, he's still getting older due to Dess still being around. He has a much fuller beard and healthier figure than he does in DELTARUNE.

This is the last concept art post of the main characters for now, so I'll end things off with this little picture that was drawn around Easter earlier this year. The glue trap meme was funny around this time too.

There is one more character I have pictures of but they're not really relevant to the AU and they're also an OC, so I dunno how well they'll be received as "OTHERSWAP canon".

I think for Sweden, doing actions comes easier to him than words! Parallel play and quality time is very important to him! Let’s go down the list!!

Iceland- Sweden and Iceland get along amazingly! Like I mentioned, Sweden seems to have a calming effect on Iceland. Iceland can get heated about stuff pretty quickly (his volcanic nature!!) which can lead to outbursts or meltdowns that leave him drained and tired. Because Sweden knows what’s that like, both from personal experience and from experience with his sons, he’s very well suited for grounding Iceland! The important part is that Sweden treats him as an equal, not like a kid, and Iceland really appreciates this (even if he won’t say it outright!) Their activities usually involve critical thinking, video games, chess, stuff like that! Iceland loves the challenge, but he also loves knowing that he doesn’t have to worry about getting too frustrated around Sweden. He can wordlessly count on Sweden to keep him levelheaded!

Norway- Sweden and Norway are very close friends! Norway doesn’t pressure Sweden to talk like others who don’t know him too well might. Their activities very much fall under the term “parallel play!” They don’t have to be doing the exact same thing, but being around each other, not being alone while they do their own activities, makes them both feel happy. Most of their time spent with each other is in quiet environments, hiking nature trails, reading in the same room, going to the library to get books to read in the same room, stuff like that! Though, sometimes Sweden can get a little too absorbed in his activity, in which Norway reminds him to eat or drink some water.

Denmark- Sweden and Denmark are best friends til the end! I believe they get along well more so now than in the past, but their rivalry has never ended! Instead, it’s grown into something they use to push each other to be better! Their activities involve a lot of physical movement or manual labour! They build, craft things, they chop firewood for the other three, and they even spar with each other! Things might still get a little petty, one of them might play a little dirty to “win” at whatever they’re doing, but there’s no genuine malice! Denmark really brings out Sweden’s mischievous nature, as he enjoys messing with his friend, especially when he doesn’t expect it!

Ladonia and Sealand- OKAY OKAY OKAY this is my favorite thing ever! You guys already know I’m a sucker for family dynamics! Sweden spends time with his sons by creating bright and warm memories! He feels so lucky he is able to have kids, to have a family, despite being a “nation.” And he feels so relieved he can give his children a safe and almost normal childhood. Sealand had come into his life with his own bad memories, since he manifested in the midst of WWII. But Sweden is grateful he can protect and guide his son now. Ladonia is younger than Sealand, and thus, he really doesn’t have a scary past. I think Sealand was the last of the nations to manifest and have to deal with that fear so young, but I can explain that in another separate post!! All this to say, Sweden feels honored he can be for his sons what he wish he had as a young nation! He brings them on many excursions, and each one is filled with whimsy and adventure! Sealand, being energetic and rambunctious, loves going anywhere and everywhere! His younger, but taller, brother Ladonia prefers staying indoors due to the nature of his being. But Sweden believes Ladonia needs more fresh air, and Sealand could definitely benefit from getting his energy out, so they do things like fishing! That’s become their favorite thing to do! Ladonia can’t swim, so he wears a life vest in the boat. Sealand helps him put it on and makes sure his younger brother is secure and safe, much to his annoyance! It’s a very precious display, and it makes Sweden’s chest warm! It takes Ladonia a bit to get used to fishing, as he gets nervous catching fish and reeling them in, so to ease him into it, Sealand or Sweden help him catch one and hold it for him to touch. Ladonia eventually holds his own fish and suddenly feels very proud!! After hours of having fun, and with their bellies full from Finland’s home cooked lunch, Ladonia and Sealand fall asleep in Sweden’s truck as he drives them home. And Sweden snaps a picture of how cute they look before carrying them inside, with Finland’s help of course.

I love the doodles I did for this ask so much, so you guys get my favorites without the text!! If you guys want me to post the other two without the text, just let me know!! I’ll try to clean them up a bit!! Sorry this took so long, Anon! I just had so many ideas and I was so excited, I had to calm myself down enough to draw them!!! Thank you for this ask!! It made me so happy to doodle all of these!!

Alright, I am once again back on my bullshit of land building. Info is below. Land of Primordia and Frogs In the third picture you can see what the planet would look like prior to igniting the Forge; it's barren, lifeless, and piss poor for adventure. Echidna was threatened to remove the frogs by {insert session's big bad} and did wipe them clean from the surface. Sneakily what she did is revert all life back to basic cells and draw in all the water (and cells trapped within) down inside the planet so she could keep watch of them. The Hero of Space would ignite the Forge, bring rain and life back to the planet, and as the water is released from underground through pressure of the volcanic release, the player must try to breed back the frogs as well as breed the Genesis Frog. Creator's Note: I created this land a little too quickly. I had just finished the Land of Storms and Brambles and learned that I was actually more in tune with being a Mage of Space instead of Breath. So I rushed to create a land off a quick and not very well thought idea based of a loose interest. I'm not happy with the outcome personally (especially those clouds in the second image). Hell I didn't even draw the volcano on the Pre-Forge Ignition version. The sizing isn't to my liking and there are some minor details I stare at for minutes because I am unfortunately an overthinking perfectionist. What I do like, howver, is that I actually did pretty decent on the outer clouds and I now have a permanent WIP for doodles for things like Frog Temples that I can use for other lands. Not all bad. Not my best work, but still something I'm okay with being released to the public. -[BC]

I saw your post about the Na'vi who live near volcanoes! (I loved it so much!) What examples do you have of their clothing? And what rites of passage do they have since making a bond with animals isn't a normal occurrence?

Anon, thank you so much!! I have the day off so I spent the afternoon doodling ideas for the Txepiva, half of them not even what you asked for lol

Here's the full sheet, which you can see in full size by opening in a new page.

Clothes :

Let's say they are mostly pastoralist nomads. They have an animal, an omnivorous creature that lives in small flocks of 20-30 members. They have a scaly/platted back and tail, but also tufts of heat resistant fibers close to a wool, just not nearly as compact. It's designed to keep them cool around the neck and chest.

Txepiva task young children with herding the flocks, making tsaheylu and often riding the flock's leading animal, leading them all by directing the one. They are used for meat, but also for their fibers, which are made into protective veils, as heat reflective as anything Na'vi can produce.

This made me think about masks (made of bone or worked leather) that would use glass lenses and veils made of that material to get extra close to lava. A Pandoran take on the protective suits we wear on earth.

I have had to honour of getting very close to a lava flow, and my experience is that when you're 20m away from it, it feels as hot and oppressive as when you're 1m away from a raging bonfire. If they need to get close, extra protection would help.

Masks could also have simple slits, though idk how much protection that would offer.

And since they can weave heat resistant fabric, but not everyone would get close to lava, you could also have more casual but still protective gear, mimicking Tuareg and other desert dwelling headgears and scarves. You could wrap the queue (tswin) inside of it and have it hidden from view. My adult Txepiva who aren't young herders or hunters have little use of their tswin outside of mating.

They would have access to a lot of precious stones. A lot of jewelry would be crafted there and be part of their main exports to other clans, alongside glass objects. Vials and glass rings would be particularly popular, as well as beads.

They'd import a lot of dyes and dried plant material in exchange. The one thing that is taboo for other clans though is metal.

That doesn't stop the Txepiva from using it for themselves, in earrings, worked plates, kuru clasps, brooches, etc. Copper is particularly easy to obtain around volcanic faults.

The other stone of choice is obsidian. I tried to give her white paint under her eyes instead of the black one I did on my original design.

But at the end of the day one of the most used materials in the clan is Bone. All warriors and scouts wear chains of vertebrae over their tswin. It's to prevent being easily killed by the queue being grasped and severed at the base.

The war chief, leader who takes charge of the clan whenever they face conflict or are readying an assault on another clan, tends to wear more flashy gear. This one collected vertebraes with a long neural spine :

The tswin and its bones are tied to his waist so they don't sway or get in his way. It's mostly ceremonial gear, I don't think he'd bedeck himself like this for war.

Didn't draw any shoes, but the Txepiva are occasional users of the stuff, especially on active volcanic plains.

Rites of Passage :

Not everyone is a warrior, so I assume they'd have different rites for different people.

Those who are warriors might be tasked to prepare their own kit to go on a quest of some sort. A raid to steal an animal, or to go deep into active lava flows to collect precious materials and prove themselves.

Or they might be cast out altogether for a whole year or more, young people forming roving bands from different clans who have to get along and conjoin their skills to survive. That feels a little extreme, though I've explored the idea of the ash people having a yearly meeting where most clans peacefully get together and trade, party, bang, and mate across clans to, you know, clean up that gene pool.

It being the moment roving bands return and have a ceremony accepting them as adults and able to join a mate and a new clan would be great. Another group of youth could be cast out at the end of that meeting, only to return in a year.

That has the advantage that it could include people whose main skill isn't hunting or killing, as they'd be just as valuable for a band's survival.

But otherwise I enjoy the idea of yuong people building a 'dowry' for themselves. It's not about mating at all, but to showcase their skills for the great meeting. Elders of all clans gather and inspect the ivory carvings, dyed weaved scarves, worked stones and jewels, or even the smithed blades and copper beads produced by this youth who claims to be an adult. They might prepare a single enormous project, or present a collection of wares.

If approved, then they would receive presents prepared for them by their friends and family ahead of time in a ceremony welcoming them as adults, and they'd be allowed to go trade all their hard work.

And that gathering place definitely has a fun-time tent for adults but also a massive complex of hot springs. It's a sacred place with a lot of growing soul trees where killing or fighting is completely forbidden.

You have to leave your clan's baggage at the metaphorical door.

They'd also have sport competitions and friendly matches, as well as conflict resolution.

Nature’s Spirit doodles + lore!

Plants live off of sunlight and water, and use a dirt core to get other nutrients

Mushrooms are seen as elegant to the plants, due to them being commonly very tall and thin, like a blade of grass.

Rocks don’t really eat anything other than minerals that might help the small (usually not sentient) plants growing on them the older the rock, the more plants are growing on them

The only insect-like thing that seems to exist in the NS au is a butterfly-like plant. it’s wings are made of what appears to be maple seeds.

they only live until they’re ready to grow into a tree. when this one life dies, 4 more can take it’s place

one of the reasons why the planet is so big is because when something dies, it never rots. so there’s some buildup of petrified wood.

there’s many caves that have been made by the rocks eating the stuff it’s like ambrosia to them, very sacred

rocks eat minerals when it comes to the rocks that like to live in caves, or deep underground caverns, they have the opportunity to grow glow lichen and bioluminescent mushrooms on their heads instead of grass, flowers, and moss. these rocks are commonly made of tougher stones, like bedrock.

gems are a subclass of rocks they can range from glass, to diamond. they are an extremely rare sight for Plants and Mushrooms taking on an almost mythical status, since they are as graceful to the rocks as the mushrooms are to the plants.

There are some volcanic islands on the planet, obsidian forms there. It is one of the strongest rock types when it is sentient, with a hardness of 5.5, wile most bedrock rocks are only up to a 4, with non sentient bedrock ranging from 1 to 9.

some of the obsidian rocks use gold to seal up cracks that form on them.

The plants and mushrooms consider the sun as their god, and the rocks and gems consider the binary moons to be theirs they all thought the “ones from the sky” were the sun god’s children. the rocks are unsure of this though, once the killing starts, and the gems know no god could produce such flawed children.

Deep down, the gems and rocks hope that maybe the twin moon gods will send down their children to put a stop to the massacre. the twin moons are seen in the sky at the same time every 20 years, so the rocks and gems celebrate this event.

they celebrate by gathering at the surface at night, and tell stories to eachother. They allow the bioluminescent flora they have to really shine during this event if they have it. The gems also play beautiful, yet gentle and quiet music throughout the night with either their voices, or with instruments they’ve made.

More doodles of dragon Phil Connors!

Here are some ideas I had about the design:

I made him a Nightwing because A: It’s in contrast to Rita, who’s an Icewing, and B: Nightwings aren’t very adapted to the cold (what with living on a volcanic island for who knows how long), so it would make sense that he’s particularly grumpy about the cold! I also think the bat-like features of Nightwings match his appearance well.

This design is based off of movie Phil Connors (played by Bill Murray, ofc), his whole color palette is picked from pictures of human Phil!

As the time loop progresses, silver teardrop scales slowly appear by his eyes to signify how the time loop allows him to read peoples minds and tell the future in a way! Once the loop breaks they disappear, to show that he has to learn to navigate life again without being able to predict everything.

The last drawing is a sneak peek of my Rita design, which I’m gonna work on tommorow. Like I said she’s an Icewing, so she’s much less bothered by the winter than Phil.

Phil’s dragon name is Weatherwatcher! It follows the traditional Nightwing naming scheme and ties into his job as a meteorologist :)

Was sketching some full designs for the doodle I did of Sora's mom here, and ended up sketching the whole Volcanic Trio, aka: Riku's mom Izta (Left), and Sora's parents Puna (middle) and Taal (right.) Each named after a location relating to volcanos. Izta is a merchant, Puna is a weaver/artisan, and Taal is a fisher/pearl diver.

(Colorless vers, and a bit of backstory under the cut!)

This is a photo from when the gang finally settled down in their town, Puna left her family behind due to a bad relationship with her father, and Izta came along wanting to keep her best friend company and see the rest of the islands. They befriended Taal after asking to board their boat and bonded during the ride across the isles, and they fell in love with Puna and her dreams.

The trio decided to settle together and start up a shop in their new sleepy town full of Puna's work; artisanal clothes, beaded jewelry, and culturally important pearl/coral accessories made from Taal's caches.

Izta, however, is a free spirit and couldn't see herself staying in one place for long and now that Puna had someone to keep her company, she decided she'd help by becoming a merchant for their wares and provide her friends and family all the best things shes could find on the market. As thanks for the couple helping and looking after her son, since she wanted Riku to have a stable homelife. She calls, sends letters, and sends him things often, hoping to take him with her on her trips when he's older and introduce him to her work after he's done with school.

Theres a bit more to the trio, but i think ill expand on them a bit in my fic series, Beauty of Destiny.

(Edit: added info in notes, these aren't their actual colors, Puna has black hair and Taal has brown hair. Other than hair and eye, Sora takes after Puna the most. Puna and Taal are both tans/genderqueer. Also, Despite Riku being older, his mom is a bit younger than Sora's parents.)

These four are a special project that I’d love to make full art for some time. For now, here are some doodles for how I imagine they might look.

Lyr is the mother of three monstrous boys; Erebus (little bird), Noxxis(No eyes), and Gorshade (six legs). It has been such a long time since I wrote their original lore that I’m currently in the process of re-writing it.

In essence, Lyr has been an outcast her entire life as a Gaoler born just across the sea from the Motherland in the territory of the IceWarden’s greatest rival, the Flamecaller. Her mother was a Seeker Order Gaoler who failed to cross the sea before she gave birth. Lyr was the only one that survived the ordeal, but her mother’s pack abandoned her for dead, believing that she would not make the trip across the ocean. She was picked up by a sympathetic traveler that found her on the volcanic beach. She was nursed to health and raised among modern breeds of dragons.

Lyr is a powerful spellcaster with the ability to wreath herself in flames so cold that they blacken everything that they touch. This ability is affected by her mood. She grew to become a very open-minded Gaoler who lived a full life outside of her own kind for most of her youth. The first time that she encountered her own kind was a Seeker pack on the Hunt. She was swept away by them.

Her sons are the product of what she strongly believes was a dream. a dark, roguish dragon in the shape of a Gaoler visited her, and when she awoke the dream was gone. She felt drawn to the Scarred Wasteland, but as she searched for the dragon from her dreams she fell ill. Her pack left her behind to continue the Hunt.

Lyr suffered for days before giving birth to four healthy cubs, one of them, the female, went missing the same night. It took months to recover with three little ones clinging to her, but she returned to IceFallen with them. She demanded that they were treated as true Gaolers and urged them to choose an Order. Goreshade was the first Gaoler to be denied entry into the Fortress of Ends due to paranoia deeply embedded in the hearts and minds of the Wardens since the infiltration of the Dark One. The brothers were given the choice of Sentry or Seeker Order. If they did not choose one, they were to be driven out of the territory as outcasts.

Got kind of scrambly at them end but there is my brainstorming! Don’t really believe anyone will read all of this anyway. :) If you did, thank you for your interest!!

so im trying to concept a team attack for zetto and kizuna like alpha and flamey's volcan rocket.

one of those ideas was the ki beast. I dont plan to go with it because it feels more like a fusion then a team attack but i liked the doodle enough to post it.

functionally kizuna puts the beast armour on both her and zetto. turning tigerlilly into a laser blue beast. the sonic screech now having properties of zettos breaker beam. and a tail that makes use of zettos arm laser sword.

Lynel doodles + daruk ^_^ I drew these during school so no ref and pure brain strength sorry if they're odd erm ANWYAY about my recent lynel post❤ I wanna expand on it a bit soo I wanna start on their culture a little bit!! Basically I feel like they're really big on courage and pride, so they tend to praise scars and such! Because of that, it's a big reason why the lynels in hyrule are where they are. They wanted to prove themselves mighty by battling in unknown lands and against powerful creatures (ofc this backfired because guess who got a huge spoonful of the calamity 🧍‍♂️). It also kinda works as ranking in tribes to some extent. I like to think that lynels travelled in small groups (up to 10 lynels in a little tribe but that would take a long time. Their families also tend to be small because they don't mate unless they're absolutely sure they can trust the mate so it takes a while.) So like the group leader often has big scars n markings because it makes them seem powerful and mighty ^_^ That also makes the practice of really young lynels battling rlly common because they have to kinda prove themselves as a lynel. It's different for every group of lynels but it's very common for them to do that or some sort of practice for new born lynels yea 💪 ALSO if they don't scar their child up, they do give them some sort of jewelry (earrings, septums, just general piercings usually) because it holds a similar rank to scars. Septums are common, but it's not limited to that ❤ Piercing n jewelry practices are done when the lynel is more young, around 6-15 months old , the battling is done when they're like 3 years old. They do train for it before they battle so dw they're not getting thrown there w a sword like "yeah ur done gl" 💪 Talking about age, I feel like lynels have a big lifespan. Considering the lynels from the calamity are still there, I feel like they can make it well over 100+. Probably like 200,but that's for normal lynels. (Also might be pushing it a lil). Lynels affected by the calamity probably have less of a lifespan because malice would probably damage their bodies. YEAA they're oldies 😔 not sure about the whole age labeling yet tho. Anyway, I think that's all I have for that topic.. So ermm a little on the Gorons because daruk was here ❤ (I lab daruk)

Gorons are made of many different rocks, such as volcanic rock, sedimentary rock, maybe even gemstones or such. (Also, that makes them be distant cousins of the talus species! Not so distant but yk) it's more common to see the type your average hyrule goron is because they all come from death mountain, Gorons that are from different volcanoes can be quite different, making the Gorons actually pretty diverse. That doesn't mean Gorons in hyrule are exclusively just like the ones in death mountain, there can still be different types, it's just more common! Either way, Gorons are very different from one another, death mountain or not. See, have you noticed how daruk actually looks quite different from the usual goron NPCs? That's because he's a grittier, rougher type of rock. It's why he has so much hair, and also why in my personal head canon he has patterns on him ^_^ it's usual to see patterned Goron's because of the whole diverse rock thing blah blah blah!! Also, they're not very symmetrical (be nice guys 😔). Some gorons can be chiseled to look symmetrical, but it's very rare for a goron to be all smooth and perfect when they're fresh out the bakery volcano!! ALSO! Their hair is different from hair that of a hylian or gerudo, it's actually kinda like tiny ropes! It's because they have different scalps, which makes hair harder to grow. It can be different for every goron, (for example Daruk) but it's just common to see them with little hair because it's really all they can do. For some gorons, their hair can work like hedgehog spikes! It really all depends on how the goron was made yeaa ^_^ also I like to think that they have tails because it helps balance their body weight and also balance themselves because I don't think they can balance on their stubby legs dude have you SEEN them zawg they CANNOT stand 😔 anyway yea sorry if any of this doesn't make sense I really wanted to talk about this ❤ teehe expect more in the next blue moon! I've been doodling up some new horror ocs, some monster ocs and main one is a lesbian monster 😌

Rowan: Modern 28 year old volcanologist who gets stung by an insect that crawled out from some volcanic rock she was working on.

Turning into a demonic-like beast that eats her friends and colleagues.

Then she meets Goblin, a very old man that hasn't turned back into a human for a very long time.

Who then introduces her to the Queen, Soliel ✨️

Important, ancient sentient beast that ends up being Rowan's love interest!

I've no name for these creatures yet, but I've got ideas, many IDEAS!
