you ever just think of how Aragorn and Denethor are the same age
and Théoden is a few decades younger than them two

question
I thought of posting an open starter (or more if I feel like it) but there’s something I’d like to know before interacting. Would you like our muses to have a pre-determined relationship, and if so what kind? Because if i don’t know that stuff I won’t know how to react
The canon mentions or implies Nellas’ relationships only concerning Melian, Thingol, Túrin and Beleg, but even so not very precise (except for Túrin) so if your muse is any of those and you have more specific ideas lemme know
They don’t have to already know eachother of course, if your muse lives in Doriath it doesn’t have to mean they know eachother (after all, Nellas stays away from Menegroth and places with lots of people)

just some thoughts
“I thought you were Lúthien” was not Aragorn attempting a cheesy pick up line. He was genuinely confused
Which also means that when he called for her, he didn’t think the elf-maiden (aka Arwen) was exactly real so when she responded the way she did was Big Embarassment Time (Tm)
Tried to recover his pride by bragging about stating his lineage but that kinda flopped too
Originally wanted to post this as headcanon but I went to re-check the source and it’s literally canon actually (quote below)
The next day at the hour of sunset Aragorn walked alone in we woods, and his heart was high within him; and he sang, for he was full of hope and the world was fair. And suddenly even as he sang he saw a maiden walking on a greensward among the white stems of the birches; and he halted amazed, thinking that he had strayed into a dream, or else that he had received the gift of the Elf-minstrels, who can make the things of which they sing appear before the eyesof those that listen.
'For Aragorn had been singing a part of the Lay of Lúthien which tells of the meeting of Lúthien and Beren in the forest of Neldoreth. And behold! there Lúthien walked before his eyes in Rivendell, clad in a mantle of silver and blue, fair as the twilight in Elven-home; her dark hair strayed in a sudden wind, and her brows were bound with gems like stars.
'For a moment Aragorn gazed in silence, but fearing that she would pass away and never be seen again, he called to her crying, “Tinúviel, Tinúviel!” even as Beren had done in the Elder Days long ago.
'Then the maiden turned to him and smiled, and she said: "Who are you? And why do you call the by that name?"
'And he answered: "Because I believed you to be indeed Lúthien Tinúviel, ofwhom I was singing. But if you are not she, then you walk in her likeness."
' "So many have said," she answered gravely. "Yet her name is not mine. Though maybe my doom will be not unlike hers. But who are you?"
' "Estel I was called," he said; "but I am Aragorn, Arathorn's son, Isildur's Heir, Lord of the Dúnedain"; yet even in the saying he felt that this high lineage, in which his heart had rejoiced, was now of little worth, and as nothing compared to her dignity and loveliness.

i like how Aragorn becomes king and one of the first things he does is give away land

Frodo would spare Saruman’s life for no reason other than “he was good once” and that is very Christian of him

elves and the dunedain absolutely do spend their free time making up stories and poems for fun, competing who makes the best one and playing games where one person starts a story or poem and the others continue it
in fact, for the higher social class this is considered part of regular education

guess I’ll be disappearing for a while again, as I’ve realized i’m seriously falling behind certain college stuff and it’s best my brain isn’t busy rping and developing plots and headcanons, you feel?

Aragorn being Mysterious(tm), especially from the hobbits’/reader’s view is so nicely shown in the books too, like he’s introduced as some random ranger guy named Strider, nobody knows what he’s up to, then he’s Gandalf’s friend, the hobbits begin to trust him but don’t find him much more than some hobo guy (at least he’s a skilled tracker/hunter, which is helpful).
Then suddenly he’s telling them of ancient history and singing Elvish legends, casually drops that he lived in Rivendell - like, this is the exact quote:
'Where did you learn such tales, if all the land is empty and forgetful?' asked Peregrin. 'The birds and beasts do not tell tales of that sort.'
'The heirs of Elendil do not forget all things past,' said Strider; 'and many more things than I can tell are remembered in Rivendell.' 'Have you often been to Rivendell?' said Frodo. 'I have,' said Strider. 'I dwelt there once, and still I return when I may.
And then they come to Rivendell and suddenly he’s sitting with Arwen and Elrond as equals and not (as Frodo apparently expected) in a corner by himself or something, and wow whaddya know he’s Isildur’s heir, fast forward to Lothlórien and he is known and respected there as well??
And if that wasn’t enough he proceeds to claim ownership of the palantir (which nobody, not even Gandalf, contests), and if that wasn’t enough he goes on to claim the throne to a kingdom which hasn’t had a king in centuries, and he gets it

small update.
My laptop has been hacked... fell for a tech support scam, be smarter than me, kids. Don’t fall for this shit.
Anyways long story short I had to give my laptop and phone to the police for checking or whatever. Best case scenario those guys have only emptied my bank account and didn’t install malware, i dont have much hope for them getting caught but that’d be cool too; ANYWAY this means i’m computerless and phoneless for the time being.
I figured I’d use this time as a nice detox (edit: i can’t believe i wrote desktop the first time around lol) because God knows I’ve been struggling with screen addiction etc. And I can borrow another laptop for school work so that’s cool. Kinda. Bc this laptop is sooooo slow.
Anyway I started reading LOTR again. And of course this means muse is coming back. So I just had to hop over here.
But my time on is limited. I have decided that I will not be wasting time here. I can check if I have new replies, I can work on drafts, I can MAYBE plot a little bit (but i might randomly disappear for hours or days, just fyi), but i will not linger about. Won’t be going on discord either.
So... yeah. That’s it. I never really got off semihiatus, did I now?
Take care my guys. And don’t believe guys who call you and say they’re from Microsoft.

EDIT: if you’re interested in plotting please send me a direct message about it, don’t just like this post, thanks so i’ve been meaning to do some open starters for aragorn’s birthday but turns out i wasn’t emotionally ready or something (there’s.. a lot of heavy emotional/stress stuff going on dont ask), but i was wondering if maybe anyone wants to do some casual plotting?
like not plotting for a specific thread, just working out what our muses’ relationship might be like (from first meeting to later on or literally anywhere in between), which i think would really help any future threads (this is open to ALL mutuals regardless of whether or not we/our muses have interacted before, just hop into my IM)
