Gonna be honest, it bothers the heck out of me that people that use AI are calling their crap "covers" and "comic dubs". Like no, you did not put in the effort to "cover" or "dub" shit, you just fed it to the AI and let it do all the work.

"But I can't voice act and I don't have enough money to request something from the original VA," there are literally several of us out there who would gladly say your line or whatever for free. Some of us who do this as a hobby and would crap our pants with joy if someone showed any interest.

And yes, it won't be perfect but imperfections are literally a part of art, actual art. Regardless, it will actually have some soul in it and be done by someone who is passionate about it. Plus, you actually get to interact with creators within your fandom, which I think is cool as heck!

But no, people in fandoms have become so damn picky nowadays they'd rather resort to AI. It feels like, not only are people refusing to do things like read fanfics if how a character is written doesn't fit every single little headcanon they have for them (which is definitely not good), but also now even fandubs, that used to got attention and be appreciated so long as the person was having fun and making the character their own, are being ignored or given unnecessary critiques.

I have decided i want to get into voice acting, because doing characters is a lot of fun for me, so if anyone has anything they want a voice for, or know people who might, pass my blog around, pretty please? I got absolutely nothing so far, in terms of stuff. i’ve just decided “I wanna do this” and can do a bunch of accents to varying degrees, and know my way half round a script. Also, if you want to turn anything into something else, like a story into an audiobook or something, like voicing a character in a wip or what-have-you, I am game.

In view of the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strike

I hope this doesn’t seem like a ridiculous question because I am 100% serious. As an amateur who is attempting to get into the voice acting community, I’m wondering how I can continue to pursue opportunities and potentially an eventual career while maintaining solidarity for the writing and acting community. 

I’m a bit unfamiliar with what all constitutes scabbing. Do I simply avoid signing contracts with large corporations, or do I only agree to do unpaid work for smaller independent artists? Should I join a union before accepting any work, or should I simply not accept any gigs and postpone any gig attempts until the strike is successfully resolved?

I completely recognize that I'm not a “real” actor. I am an absolute amateur just getting in, and I am not trying to speak as if I am part of the same professional community currently fighting for their rights and respect. But as someone with a passion for this industry, I recognize that it is a tense and tricky time to be trying to join it and I just want to make sure I don’t inadvertently make an overstep or commit some taboo due to ignorance. 

I appreciate this community’s support for everyone currently fighting for what they deserve, and I want to make sure I continue to stand on the right side of all of it. I would very much appreciate any legitimate advice on this.

This year for our little Halloween special, I've decided to create a cover of "Kidnap the Sandy Claws" from my favourite movie ever! And all in character too!

I've never done a cover before, nor posting any of my singing anywhere online (I'm usually nervous about people even hearing me sing most of the time), But inspiration hit me too hard and I did it! Although I admit, singing in-character is really pecking hard.
