⠀↳ the two moons whose gravitational pull towards one another is too strong.. these two share a bond that even the gods envy, yet when they clash the emotions are destructive and lingering.

ʚĭɞ is it envy yiji feels towards hyunjin? or is she simply so adorned by his presence that it suffocates her insecurity? she feels conflicted and often guilty about her inner turmoil towards hyunjin but she truly would do anything for him.

ʚĭɞ unironically, as both hyunjin and yiji are members of the main dance unit, these two complement each others artistry really well. fans describe it as a “performers chemistry” when the two are together on any stage.

ʚĭɞ yiji has always been quite curious of hyunjin’s art hobbies and kinda follows him around the dorms like a lost puppy when he is painting. hyunjin thinks it’s really cute (which he will never admit becuase he know yiji will simply cease cause its cringey)  as it is her way of spending quality time with him.

ʚĭɞ despite their awkward nature, yiji and hyunjin have a lot in common. yiji has always been better with writing her feelings and sometime’s shares her poetry with him, in exchange he attempts to write little poems to share with her about his art.

ʚĭɞ the two of them have this unspoken thing will hyunjin will say he’s going out, usually to a cafe, sometimes an art event, or just on a walk for something he needs and yiji always tags along. he never asks her directly but she’s always there.

ʚĭɞ hyunjin feels deeply when it comes to yiji, meanwhile yiji tries hard to not to feel anything at all.. it’s an unrequited lovers trope; two people yearn deeply for one another yet they were continuously separated in their past lives.

ʚĭɞ and just when you thought jisung and yiji were loud, felix and yiji are on an entirely different level.. and so toxic HELP???. due to the amount of late night yelling and swears chan has them living apart in the new dorm arrangement specifically for this reason.

ʚĭɞ yiji was never a foodie until she met felix, honestly if it was up to her.. she is content eating the same meal multiple times a week but not on LEE FELIX’S WATCH. he loves dragging her to cafes and bakeries of all kinds, all those aesthetic pictures of felix drinking? yeah, yiji took those.

ʚĭɞ since the release of skz player, yiji has been desperate to co-produce a song with felix. she absolutely loves his voice.

ʚĭɞ mhmm, kim “i know something is troubling you but i don’t know how to ask you about it” seungmin!! this boy buys yiji flowers constantly and it is the cutest darn thing (it’s like a little peace offering) sometimes he will even pretend like he has no idea who sent them but as soon as they’re alone he always apologizes saying, “i didn’t know which ones were in season so i just bought you all different types” :D

ʚĭɞ no one took seungmin getting his braces off as personally as yiji did, she was absolutely devastated. seungmin was like ??? honestly, in her eyes he just looked a lot more adult, like he was growing up too fast but these days yiji always reminds seungmin how much she loves his smile and he gets all shy about it hehe.

ʚĭɞ hyunminji are the unsuspecting trio of skz! from the outside, it doesn’t seem like yiji, hyunjin, and seungmin would spend as much time together but on their off days seungmin will the two in their dorms and the three of them will binge dramas and order take out. it’s really cute to kinda see them sprawled out on the sofa with open boxes of chicken and jjigae on the table.

ʚĭɞ yiji just has a heart full of love and adoration towards seungmin, he has no idea. despite their differences in age, yiji looks up to seungmin greatly and finds peace in their quality time. yiji finds that being emotionally vulnerable is alot easier when expressing her concerns to seungmin!

seungmin loves to pretend fight with yiji and it’s honestly the weirdest funniest thing ever.. he wouldn’t be caught dead showing her outright affection but instead just puts his fists up and starts throwing punches that don’t actually land?? sometimes though yiji is like 10/10 not in the mood for his antics and she will actually square up 💀

not rlly absurd but here we go

no matter what, wilson is a better cook and baker. the days they dont do takeout are the days wilson whips up a fantastic meal. house is endlessly and vocally jealous

wilson and cuddy (and sometimes ducklings, depends on seniority) have regular talk-shit tea parties. house is not invited but he knows about them and tried to spy once. they ended up sacking him with the bill and everything he heard was decoy conversation (did you know that the barnacle relative to its size-)

house helps wilson learn spanish by refusing to speak to him in english for days on end (and will torment the ducklings just for fun the same way) and takes full advantage of wilson's limited vocab to pepper him with affection. this backfires very quickly as wilson learns

while wilson encourages but doesnt participate, house is a closet musical theater nerd. pretty cool when his mayfield roomie alvie wrote that blockbuster broadway show about a founding father

wilson has stuffed animals and hes almost one hundred percent convinced house does too but to this day the evidence is circumstantial at best

they have both literally slept together on wilson's office couch during all nighter hospital stays and sometimes find excuses to do so before and during their relationship

the stint with the 82yo woman with syph (s1e8) lets say,, inspired house to write poetry. rlly intentionally bad poetry. he leaves sticky notes of terrible lines all over wilson's side of the bathroom. to this day wilson has never told a soul and has kept all of them

Chenford Week 2022 - Day 6

title: piece by piece

prompt: “we're not friends, we're married" and "Chen/Bradford family"

“Look, they’re probably expecting this. We’re not friends, we’re married.”

She looks up at him, eyebrow raised, head tilted, challenging him to play that sentence back. 

“Okay, you know what I mean.” 

“Hey, you’re the one who had a surprisingly emotional piece of his wedding vows dedicated to our friendship. Something about friendships making the best partnerships?” 

“Seriously? You’re going to use that against me?”

“Your wedding vows? Absolutely, always and forever, every day if I can,” she parrots back, her smirk subtly turning into a small smile at the reminder of their wedding day.

Because his vows that day had been a surprise - Lucy always expected that she’d knock Tim (and their guests) out of the park with her vows. It was a given - she reads poetry, she journals, she’s always vocal about her feelings. Communication is exactly in her wheelhouse. In the weeks and days leading up to their wedding, she’d wondered more than once if they should walk back their decision to write their own vows. It’s not like it was a competition, but she didn’t want Tim to feel any pressure in the lead up to that day. 

But the thing is, they’d discussed both options. He and Isabel hadn’t written their vows and this time around, Tim had been the one to suggest doing something different, excited at the self-proclaimed challenge. And who was she to burst his bubble? They both loved a challenge and besides, she knew she had this one in the bag.  It’s not that she had low expectations, she just figured his vows would be steady and sweet, simple but never lacking in depth - Tim Bradford in a nutshell. 

But on the day of, he’d been the one to surprise her. He’d gone on to recite the whole damn thing from memory, which melted her heart just that much more - he’d had to write them, voice record and finally listen to the sound of his own voice on repeat to memorize his vows. And he’d known it’d be worth it for the surprised (and maybe slightly put out realization that he “won”) look on her face. His vows, the story she didn’t know she needed, peppered with jokes about being the rookie who wouldn’t leave him alone and finally wore him down, sweet sentiments about being the last and best he’s ever trained, culminating in a deep dive of their friendship turned partnership and how ultimately, today and everyday, Lucy is, was and forever will be his favorite person. 

(And if she maybe sent herself his original voice recording to listen to on her best and worst days, that’s no one’s business but her own.) 

Which brought them back to today. Because two years later, as of twelve hours ago, Lucy had officially crossed over into the start of her second trimester and telling her parents she was pregnant was next on their to-do list. 

(Because it’s not like it was a secret from everyone else. Their friends had known for weeks - the friends they chose to be family, who, frankly, caught on very quickly. Seeing them every day made hiding anything next to impossible but thank god for their village for never pushing, letting Tim and Lucy take their time, all the while waiting with baited breath and the promise of celebratory hugs until they officially announced their good news.) 

Things with Lucy’s family were - decent, maybe even more than. In the early days, having Aunt Amy act as a buffer helped (plus, she’d taken to Tim right away and was invested in making sure nothing got in the way of her niece’s happiness). Eventually, both of Lucy’s parents had come to make a sort of tentative peace with Lucy’s career and by extension, Tim’s. He wasn’t the son-in-law they imagined but it didn’t take long for both Drs. Chen to see how deeply and effortlessly this man loved their daughter, the same love mirrored in Lucy’s eyes. But it hadn’t been easy and to this day, off color comments still poked at nerves. But these days, there were also family dinners, semi-regular phone calls and genuinely good moments that outweighed (most of) the bad. 

“Lucy, your mom’s wanted a grandkid since before you and I were even together. I seem to remember a conversation about egg freezing and insurance?”

“Ugh, don’t remind me and don’t you go taking her side again!”

“Hey, I’m on your side, always have been. I’m just saying, where are these nerves coming from? She’s going to be thrilled, Lucy, you have to know that.”

“I just, I know. The rational part of me knows that. They just, they’ve disappointed me before, Tim. I know they love me, I know this. But that doesn’t mean those other times hurt any less and right now…I’m just so happy. We’re having a baby and I have been riding this high for weeks and I just, if they’re even slightly disappointed, I don’t think I can - ”

“Lucy, hey, c’mon. They’ve come a long way since then, things have been good, hell, your dad even brought up the Rams the other day without getting into a lecture about concussions so I think we’re golden?”

“Tim,” Lucy lets out an exasperated sigh. 

“Okay, hey, sorry, I’m not - you’re right. Things have been rocky in the past and you’ve been disappointed and I get it. But Lucy, the thing is - we’re our own family, we have been for a while now. I mean, just think about how long we’ve had Kojo. So really, it doesn’t matter what happens when we go in there because you always, always have me.”

A beat passes before Lucy cracks a smile. 

“Are you - borrowing from your vows right now?”

“First of all, you brought them up, okay? And second, I’d do it everyday if you thought it would help.”

Lucy widens her smile because, this man. For as decent as things were with her parents, Tim was right - they were their own family. He’d proven that to her day after day, before they were even together, really.  In very different ways, their childhoods had been far from ideal but she knew that together, they’d do their level best to make sure their child always felt supported and loved, never leaving any room for doubts. Over the years, Tim had restored her faith in what family was and could be; in fact, they’d done that for each other. And right now, in the midst of her own doubts, he'd found a way to be aggravatingly sweet and exasperating in a way that only Tim could be. The nerves weren’t gone but they had dissipated significantly. Because with Tim at her back, there was nothing she couldn’t handle. 

And so with a calming breath, Lucy grabs Tim’s hand, ready to walk up the driveway of her childhood home. 

“Just - no jokes about a Baby Boot on board, they’ve come a long way but let’s not tempt fate.”

Hello! I saw a post saying COD matchups are open! If not, please ignore this ^^ Also, I haven't fone a matchup ask in forever, so sorry if I'm rusty...

I'm punk and it really shows in my appearance. I got a red mohawk, and some piercings and tattoos. I like to customise my clothes as much as possible, so battle jackets, studs, chains, pins and patches with slogans and band icons/names are my daily wardrobe.

I'm nonbinary, panromantic asexual and I go by they them pronouns. I'm trilingual and I love learning about stuff, mostly languages and time zones. I am very probably autistic, so I have issues with social interactions as well as sensory issues and I have tics, motoric and vocal. Usually I just chirp, repeat phrases or wave my hands around, twist my neck etc. But sometimes, when I'm anxious, my tics get more violent and I often punch/pinch myself. I struggle with depression a lot as well as some unhealthy coping mechanisms that involve pain, to put it lightly.

I love art, I consider myself a poet, I got one book published and I like to attend poetry competitions. I also draw a lot and paint. I like crafting as well, I have tons of little projects either going on or in my head. I have to journal a lot, because if I don't write it down you can bet I'll forget it :D I also like cooking :)

I love animals, I used to have pet rats and would want them in the future.

I think I'm kind, maybe a bit too much, I would do anything for my loved ones. My MBTI type is INFJ if that helps. I try to make others laugh and feel comfortable, I'm kind of a mix between the parent friend and the clown friend. My love language is words of affirmation and quality time. I tend to get into arguments, because a) people usually take me seriously when I'm being sarcastic or playful (another tism trait), b) because when it comes to things I'm passionate about, I always think I'm right and I have the need to convince the other person that my opinion is better. Also because I get frustrated when people don't get what I mean exactly.

My special interests are horror, in all forms, horror movies, horror books, video essays, deep dives...I like true crime as well and I like to collect bones and other things people often deem creepy (I have a bird skeleton/mummy in a jar).

I think he’d be pretty into watching video essays and deep dives with you. Rudy would have no problem setting himself on the couch right beside you, claiming that it keeps him educated and his mind sharp. But really he’d end up passing out in 30 minutes, one of his arms wrapped tightly around you as if you were to magically grow wings and fly away from him. The other resting gently on your arm or thigh if you find yourself sitting practically in his lap. It’s one of the few times he finds himself at true peace and serenity.

Having any shared friends means you guys are definitely referred to as the parents of the group. Drama at the grocery store? Off to go gossip with the two of you! Looking for relationship advice? Once again, off to you and Rudy. And when you guys get into a small, tiny even, slight disagreement in front of your friends? All of sudden it’s the end of the world and everyone is talking about having two christmases. 😐

But also most likely to be the one to bring you down from confrontation or arguments. He will tell you when it’s time to take a step back and calm down, and he’ll continue to talk you down from it and put a comforting hand on your lower back. And if you want to take a moment to continue ranting about it? Go for it, he’ll listen, only to voice his opinion on the situation if you ask for it and/or after you’ve come back down to earth. He’s pretty level headed (especially compared to someone like Alejandro… *side eye*…) and tends to have good judgment like that, so I think that would balance out your relationship, especially if you’re more on the temperamental side.

I can picture him as some sort of gift giver, which I’d imagine would go pretty well with someone who has strong collector tendencies. And they wouldn’t always be the most elaborate and luxurious gifts—though it’s not out of the question—it be something small or something he just found interesting and made him think of you. Think of a gem or crystal he found be sold at a little gift stand, or a small drawstring bag full of bottle caps from all around the world and from all kinds of bottles (that, or he’d be the one to gift you the bottle caps to add a collection, lol).

Loves your artistic side, especially your poetry. Write him little pieces of poetry on a sticky note or torn corner of a piece of paper and he will most definitely keep it in his pocket, only pulling it out to read when he’s alone and missing you—“Oh, mi cielo…” he’d whisper to himself and bring the piece of paper right over his chest, on top his beating heart. He’d close his eyes and let himself be overrun with thoughts of you, even if it’s just for a quick minute before he would have to return back to work. And while you may not believe it’s your best work, Rudy will think it’s one of the most beautiful things he’s ever read.

(Mostly) Nischa roadtrip/beach fic!

It was Oceans idea for the choir to go to the beach. A few weeks ago, the group had won a very prestigious singing competition. As a prize, the entire choir received a trip to California! Of course, this trip did not go by as smoothly as anyone had wished it to be. Almost every member of the choir had to put up with Ocean's rants about how her vocals won them the competition. But the moment they all got to form coherent thoughts, the rest of the children decided that it was really Noel and Mischa's duet of Suddenly Seymour that helped them win. So a jealous Ocean decided to rent two cars and get the choir to drive an hour to the beach.

Noel hadn't exactly wanted to be alone in a car with the boy he had been in love with for a year. But Ocean wanted to be with Constance, her girlfriend, and Ricky and Penny were almost inseparable so Noel and Mischa were stuck driving together in the rented beat up Honda Civic. Of course this had to be how Noel found out that Mischa was gorgeous without a shirt. While Noel felt the need to wear actual clothes in the car, Mischa was sitting in the drivers seat with nothing but swim trunks and an open Hawaiian shirt on. He struggled for a few minutes with trying to put the top of the convertible down and then finally when that was done he lit a cigarette, offering one to Noel who turned it down. After a few minutes of silence between the two, nothing but annoying pop music blaring through the radio, Mischa scowled and turned off the radio. "Can you connect your phone to car with the bluetooth?" Mischa asked, followed by "The top 40 hits are so fucking bad."

Noel put his playlist on shuffle, the first song was Dancing Queen. Mischa smiled and looked over at Noel. "You like ABBA?" Noel blushed a bit and went to skip the song but Mischa stopped him. "Dude, I fucking love ABBA!!" Mischa smiled big, blowing out smoke and laughing a bit. Noel smiled back, his face flushing bright pink. "You are getting sunburn? Or just blushy?" Mischa asked, an adorable smile creeping across his face. This just made Noel's face turn pinker, trying to hide his giggling by covering his face in his hands. "Oh...you are so cute Noel Gruber." Noel's eyes widened. "You think I'm cute?" Noel asked and Mischa nodded, saying "If you were girl I would totally fuck you, man!"

Oh. Fuck. Noel had gotten too carried away in his stupid fantasy to remember that Mischa was the straightest man he knew. Noel got quiet, turning away from Mischa, his heart broken over a boy who never even got to hold his heart.

Noel had been zoning out until Mischa spoke, "DUDE, I loveeeee this song! It's mad wicked awesome, bro!!" He turned the song up, and Noel bopped his head a bit to A Beautiful Sea. "I know all the words" Mischa laughed, setting his cigarette in the cars ashtray before glancing at Noel.

"Fake deals in the supermarket." Mischa shouted.

Noel's face physically hurt from this.

"TV's selling what you can't get."

He couldn't do this shit right now.

"She laughs, 'no where is as pretty as this'" Mischa smiled at Noel, placing a hand on his shoulder and smiling. "Come on poet, I know you know all the words!" Noel shook his head, "Not right now, okay Mischa."

He frowned, and Noel couldn't bare to look at him. "Noel, can I tell you something?" Mischa asked, turning the music down. "Hmm?" Noel tried his best to look at Mischa, although it made him feel sick.

"I am bi."

Noel's heart stopped. He smiled. He looked up at Mischa and the two of them were smiling like idiots. "Okay!" Noel laughed, "I'm sorry, I don't ever know what to say to that kind of stuff and..." And then Mischa pulled to the side of the road and turned the music up loud. He put his hand on Noel's cheek.

"She gets into my veins"

Noel slid his hand around Mischa's waist.

"And writes my poetry"

"Noel..." Mischa whispered.

"This girl is a beautiful sea"

And then Noel was kissing him. And it was unlike anything Mischa had ever known. He kissed Noel back, and sat up on his knees in the car so that he could get a better angle to kiss Noel.

"Thank you." Mischa said into Noel's lips.

The two of them sat there for a few minutes, staring into each other. They never made it to the beach with the rest of the choir. Noel texted Ocean that they ran out of gas and turned around. But really, they found a nice place next to the shore, far away for everyone and Noel laid his head on Mischa's chest.

jehan:

-modern jehan is really into rap culture and i'll never stop using that hc. his poetry comes out in freestyling and he's really into going to local venues that hold competitions. he doesn't always compete but he still enjoys going and observing people's rhyme schemes and vocal patterns and filing them away as inspo for later

-canon era jehan owns a lot of weird things just because he has the money to do so. he bought the full hand bones of a human that's just displayed in a glass box. jehan isn't a medical student- he just thought it was interesting. he's a bit of an impulse buyer

-he's also slowly building a frankenstein candle in his lodgings. when jehan gets bored, he just starts melting candles on top of this massive pile of melted candles. it's about two feet tall at this point. he's really proud of it

-modern jehan tries learning to skateboard every 6 months. he takes a board out to the street and tries doing tricks, but almost gets hit by 7 cars, eats shit, and tore his newest sweatpants. so he goes home grumbling and puts the board away until he finds it again in 6 months and gets super excited to try again, forgetting how it went last time (he's been doing this for like 4 years)

-he also dresses super masc, talking like jesse pinkman swag, but uses stereotypical female scented body sprays. this dude walks down the street being the epitome of Dude but is also in an aura of Blueberry Sugar Pancake Smell. it's very strong, but it is pleasant.

gavroche:

-he has microtia, so his right ear is small and not really formed, and he can't really hear on one side. he's thrilled when he finds out that enjolras is fully deaf in one ear (this is my other enjolras hc and man i tried so hard looking for the post but cannot for the life of me find it rn). in modern era, he asks a lot of questions about enjolras's hearing aids and how he lost it and feels really cool that someone like enjolras is like him. this also means that he wants to try and be annoying on enjolras's deaf side until he notices bc it's still gavroche

-modern gavroche stole one of montparnasse's paint pens and has his own little tag that he likes challenging himself to put in very very secret spots that no one else will ever find. graffiti is a game for gavroche and he's winning

-feuilly teaches him to read in canon era. i think i just see a lot of gavroche in feuilly and feuilly would as well, so he does what he can to try and push him in the right direction. they have a really brotherly relationship

-modern gavroche also has problems of stealing and pick-pocketing. he's really fucking good at it, but it turns into moments where he's just stealing because. he doesn't even want the shit he steals. he goes into small shops and takes a bunch of chapstick and gum and eye drops and throws them in a shoebox in his hiding spot when he gets home. he got busted once for stealing a bottle of hand lotion. he gave them feuilly's number instead of his parents and feuilly ended up making him show him the boxes of things he had stolen. gavroche didn't feel bad when he got caught, but his stomach sinks when he sees feuilly pinch the bridge of his nose and turn around because he doesn't even know what to say

Operator Amarice "Patriot" Locke

BACKGROUND

Amarice was born into a strict Catholic household in Maryland. Growing up, Amarice was fond of books and poetry and aimed to become a novelist-- an idea quickly shot down by her parents.

 Being the youngest of six, Amarice developed a competitive mindset that resulted in several squabbles and arguments from her siblings. When she reached her teens however, she became burned out from all the pressure from schoolwork and extracurricular activities to compete with her siblings. This sparked a rebellious upbringing much to the disapproval from her parents. Amarice would join party after party while cutting classes all at the same time. It was short-lived however when three of her siblings were killed by a White Mask operation which straightened Amarice back to reality. After graduating, Amarice enlists in the army despite her parent's disapproval and cuts ties with them.

During her training, she would get into fights with her peers due to her competitiveness and the grief from the deaths of her siblings making her a returning visitor to the infirmary. It was at one of these visits where she met her husband Marcus-- an army medic in training. In her first tour in Afghanistan, her unit was under heavy fire against opposing forces. Despite running out of ammunition and her unit's decreasing numbers, Amarice was still brimming with hope. She gathered and rallied the remaining men and women and marched towards the enemy. Though the odds were clearly against them, Amarice and her team prevailed, miraculously losing not a single soldier during their attempt.

After the battle, Amarice along with her other compatriots were awarded with medals and other military decorations. Tour after tour, Amarice performed her duties with outstanding dedication. She treated her unit as a family and fiercely cared and protected them during the overwhelming battles. Since then, from peers and superiors alike, they called her, "Patriot." She was known to be merciful towards captives, treating them like equals earning their cooperation. During her career, [DATA EXPUNGED]. 

It was at the peak of her military career when Amarice was dealt with a devastating blow, the news of her son's death. This time, the grief and guilt was too much to bear for Amarice which resulted in a divorce. Unfortunately it was around the same time where a captive Amarice knew escaped and killed a member of Amarice's unit-- one of the driving factors for her resignation. One night in a bar, drinking to her heart's contempt she had a sudden epiphany. The epiphany however delved into offensive topics and questionable philosophical morality which caused the bar owner to kick Amarice out. It was then she was approached by [REDACTED] to join RAINBOW which she promptly declines.

Some years later, Amarice felt hollow and purposeless, unable to free herself from the guilt and grief for her son's death. It was at this point and out of loneliness, she adopted a young Henry Adler. His troubling past did not deter Amarice who tolerated his behavior and continued to care for the child. As time went on, their bond deepened from their shared loss of family. Seeing Nathaniel on Henry, Amarice urges the young boy to not make the same mistake as she once did and instead choose violence and terror to instill peace and order, encouraging his immorality.

When Babel was under threat of being sent into a military prison due to his appalling actions, Amarice contacted an old friend in the military to drop all his charges.

After the incident, Operator Marius "Jager" Streicher approached Amarice to join RAINBOW. Despite numerous attempts denying the offer she was later persuaded when Marius went to the topic of the incident.

PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE

Amarice is well versed with tactical approaches and strategies, having had an experience with leadership with her unit in the army, and adapts to unexpected changes in the field. She is vocal about her distaste for the younger operators, saying they lack discipline and structure. Though respected by fellow operators for her history and experience, they are concerned for her shared ideologies with operator Henry "Babel" Adler, as well for her mental anguish regarding the personal tragedies she faced in her life. 

She often gets into intense arguments with Specialist Gustave "Doc" Kateb regarding her alcohol and smoking addiction and her denial for any form of therapy.

I've made adjustments to my shield during and after my time in the Army. It is capable of withstanding any degree of firepower; from a .45 to 14.5. Weighing up to 22 lbs, the Resistance can and will protect any allies against tremendous blows from the opposing side, I've made sure of that. 

Say what you will about its "crude design," it gets the job done and does what it is made to do. Back in my years of service, this shield has made many soldiers return to their families and -

HISTORY

Chaeyoung was born July 28, 1997 in Daegu, South Korea. As a child, Chaeyoung excelled in poetry and writing, as she entered and won numerous competitions. By age 12, Chaeyoung began writing musical lyrics and learning about musical production. She joined a music club afterschool program and would participate in musical arrangements such as composing, writing, rapping, and performing.

At age 15, Chaeyoung showcased a poetry and lyrical exhibit at her school. There were many label representatives at the exhibit including Jiyeon Lee of JYL Records and Yang Hyungsuk of YG Entertainment. Jiyeon Lee, in search of new talent for her first group at JYL Records, took interest in the complexity of Chaeyoung’s poetry and lyricism, offering Chaeyoung an immediate spot on the label. Having believed that with moderate training and development that Chaeyoung would be a prominent figure in Korean music, as well as a core member of the group now known as Twist. Yang Hyungsuk also took interest in Chaeyoung’s musical abilities, but was rather interested in her stage presence, due to this, Chaeyoung was also offered a spot at YG Entertainment.

Stuck between two choices, Chaeyoung eventually chose to become a trainee under JYL Records after watching a trainee showcase at JYL Records in 2013, where she saw her now fellow band member and leader in TWIST, perform. Chaeyoung believed that the material she and Mina could produce would be of top tier quality, therefore, Chaeyoung was interested in creating content with Mina. To work on her composing skills in preparation for her debut, Chaeyoung would attend music camps in the United States to receive training.

Chaeyoung debuted in TWIST on September 1, 2016 as the Main Rapper and Sub-Vocalist. Chaeyoung is known for her lyrical content, production, and creative direction in TWIST. Chaeyoung has cited Lauryn Hill, Lil’ Kim, and Missy Elliot as her role models in terms of style, influence, music, and originality.

I've tried writing poetry more than once, but I keep getting stuck on this: I write verses for songs that don't exist instead

I can't sing, so embracing it is out of the question, so how do I make poetry feel just as poignant when whover doesn't have the music in my brain reads it?

oh i get this ALL the time like you wouldn't believe how often. so many songs i have written started out as poems and vice versa so many poems were originally song ideas (i reckon this is at least partly because i like to write in fixed meter and song verses are by definition fixed meters).

what i like to do, since im also a singer, is take it in whatever direction the text leads me and make songs out of my more musical poems — perfectly fair if this isn't your cup of tea of course, but songwriting without singing is also a very valuable art, and if you play an instrument you can write an accompanying melody and see if anyone's interested in singing it (or even sing it yourself for a quick demo, i promise you bad singing with amazing songwriting is nothing new and there are so many people who value lyrics or melodies over technical vocal prowess).

if you're adamant about not wanting to write songs, which is super fair, you can probably try your hand at more rigid meters which have fixed accents and a more musical quality to them: i take a lot of inspiration from ancient greek and latin meter, you could try following them or similar fixed-accent meters exactly. you would have to make sure the correspondence isn't too off between the original type of accent and your language's type of accent, which can be a bit of a pain, but luckily writing modern language poetry with ancient language meters is nothing new, and you can often find examples of poems from the past handful of centuries trying to adapt these forms into their own languages (at least in italian it's like this — and if you're italian i would recommend you check out what carducci does with the odi barbare, it's very interesting metrically if not thematically)! and obviously, once you have your meter of choice down, you can just say which one it is and anyone who has any familiarity with the meter will know how to read it.

at the end of the day, though, nobody is inside your head like you are, and you always risk something not coming across like you intended — be it the metrics of a verse or the meaning of an expression you used. there's a lot of poems i have scrapped because they didn't sound right to others who heard them differently to how i did in my head, and others i have posted regardless of how someone else might read them differently, simply because i liked them too much to let that dissuade me, and others yet which i have posted as poems but i could hear a melody for while composing them and just couldn't be assed to record them or make them song-length. i cannot for the life of me remember who originally said this because i am a hack, but i am very fond of the theory of art according to which art is the intersection between the author, the work itself and the people who experience it: the melody you have in your mind is part of the poetry itself, but so is a potential reader's "misunderstanding" and reinterpretation of it, those elements aren't necessarily in competition but they come together to create a meaningful artistic experience that exists in the world as opposed to just in your head.

L.S. Dunes were a lifeline during the pandemic for five best friends, no ego included

When L.S. Dunes released their frenetic debut single "Permanent Rebellion" this past August, they set the internet ablaze, resulting in an online frenzy, and for good reason. In the midst of the surprise drop, L.S. Dunes’ star-studded scene lineup was revealed to feature Anthony Green (Circa Survive, Saosin), Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance), Travis Stever (Coheed and Cambria) and Tucker Rule and Tim Payne (Thursday). If that wasn’t enough, they threw in the announcement of their debut LP, Past Lives — a staggering collection of progressive-rock and post-hardcore songs that capture a radiating sense of punk urgency. If you were a rabid consumer of post-hardcore, emo and punk music throughout the last 20 years, chances are each member of L.S. Dunes’ own respective projects affected you in one way or another, and for the five influential figures to come together to form a supergroup is certainly a treat in every sense of the word. And for L.S. Dunes, the feeling is mutual.

Formed during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, L.S. Dunes were an opportunity more than anything to defy creative and professional stagnation imposed by acts of nature out of their control, showing that anything is possible through strength in numbers. “We’re all very big champions and fans of one another,” Rule says over Zoom from his New Jersey home, reflecting on the genesis of his new band he formed with his close friends and collaborators. “Everyone who is in this project is our personal favorite at each instrument. The times were heavy with COVID and lockdowns, but when Anthony came in and laid down the first set of vocals, we knew this was going to be the shit.” With the touring industry on hold, all five of the self-proclaimed “lifers” or “road dogs” knew they had to lean into one thing they knew best: creating groundbreaking music. “We were faced with losing our jobs, but we said, 'Fuck it, let’s create another job,'” Rule exclaims.

Having extra time at home during the pandemic was pivotal for the five members to grow as musicians and friends, all while pushing their creative skills to new heights and breaking free from any imposed artistic limitations. “I saw this as an opportunity to experiment and do different stuff with my voice,” Green says with a grin on his face. “I wasn’t thinking about anything other than fun. I didn’t know how much I needed [L.S. Dunes].” For Green, music has always been a form of “therapy,” and this time around, he used the writing process for Past Lives as a means to “process things he was going through in his life,” channeled through the vehicle of “melodies, lyrics and poetry." 

”[This band] was a place of solace for me and, in some ways, a gift. I’ve been wanting a band that sounds like this for such a long time,” Green explains. Iero felt similarly. “L.S. Dunes is unlike any band I’ve ever been in before. [With the pandemic], life stopped, and you had a bunch of people who really only knew how to do one thing, and then you’re told you can’t even do it anymore. Depression sinks in, and you get scared and wonder what the future is going to hold,” he adds. L.S. Dunes were a lifeline for the band that came with no ego.

While piecing the music together for Past Lives remotely, there was somewhat of a healthy competition, or an impulse if you will, for each member to bring their A-game and leave their unique mark on each track. It's clear that the members of L.S. Dunes wanted to impress each other constantly and be the best friends possible to lean on both musically and personally, with Iero saying, “No one in this band is a slouch. They're all accomplished musicians, so it really pushed you to want to do more. There were no rules other than to push yourself out of your comfort zone."

During the early writing process, Green was dealing with self-esteem issues and the all-too-familiar impostor syndrome from the effect of the pandemic on his career, something he knew he would need to shake to make this record. Thankfully, the process of building L.S. Dunes from the ground up left him with a healthier mindset and a sense of rejuvenation. 

“I was having a tough time seeing through the trees. I went down this horribly self-destructive mentality where I thought I sucked, was never good and what I did never mattered. These are all real things that people go through, but Tucker, Travis, Frank and Tim helped me realize what was important, “ Green says. “It’s not about being the biggest band in the world; it’s about having people that care about you — that in and of itself is more than a lot of people can ask for in this world. To build something tangible with these people was such a joyous experience.” 

Once principal songwriting for the record was completed, the band enlisted esteemed producer Will Yip(Turnstile, Turnover) to help fully realize their vision and put their joint labor of love to tape. “Will Yip is this generation’s Rick Rubin,” Green says. “He’s never trying to make a song that is going to be a hit — he’s just trying to find what will make you happy as an artist." However, this wasn't without its fair share of hiccups, specifically for Iero, who was in the midst of a difficult medical situation. “I fell off a ladder at the end of the summer and was scheduled to record in September, so we had to put my studio time off until December,” Iero says when looking back at this hectic time period.

“I was three weeks past my last surgery when I broke my wrist, so I still had some stitches in my hand when recording the record. I literally didn’t know if I was ever going to play guitar again,” he stresses. While Iero had his fair share of fears going into the recording process, he chose to instead treat the studio sessions as a “test” to see if he could still play, and miraculously, he passed with flying colors. “For me, it was a do-or-die moment [to make this record],” Iero says. Rule summarizes this period by saying, “We captured and controlled the chaos and bottled it into this whole insane process.” Knowing what it took to create Past Lives only adds further weight to the album as a whole and will forever be immortalized as a tale of perseverance, friendship and survival. 

After the record was completed, the band, who had only practiced together twice in the same room, agreed to jump on for a mid-day performance slot at this past September’s Riot Fest in Chicago — a daunting experience for any performer but especially for a highly anticipated first show. “Tucker really thought no one was going to watch us, and I was like, 'I would love it if nobody was there!' [Laughs.] I was really nervous about how my body was going to move to the songs," Green says of his preshow jitters. “Every day leading up to the show, I would put my headphones on and listen to the set and creatively visualize the show happening by imagining me seeing how it would play out. Thankfully, when I finally got onstage, my body moved exactly in the way that it is comfortable.” 

Iero had even more on his plate, as his other band My Chemical Romance were headlining the festival later that night, and pulling double duty wasn't how he envisioned L.S. Dunes' debut live show. “This was not the position you would want to be in. For your first show to be a throw and go outside at a festival, it’s like, 'Oh man, if I could set up a nightmare scenario, then there it is.' However, it sounded great, it felt great and there were way more people than I ever thought there would be. It was the perfect storm," Iero says with relief. 

With Past Lives officially out in the world, one thing's for certain: This isn't a one-and-done deal for the band. “I want to stress this as much as possible: This is not a supergroup or a side project,” Rule says. "This is our full-time thing. We have our own bands and will continue to do them, but we love this, too. The only reason this band is a supergroup is that we’re all super-buds.” Green expands on this, saying he wants to write “a hundred more records and tour more.” He even went as far as to reveal that the band have already begun work on what will become their next record. “I truly feel that this [record] is the best thing I can do at this point in my life, and I have never gotten sick of it every time I listen to it,“ Iero says with sincerity. “I love the people in this band and the songs that we made. This is something that I want to do as much as I can full time.”

BACKGROUND 

He was born on December 1st, 1998 in Ulsan. ( He is 100% a Sagittarius. Take that as you will! )

Has 3 younger siblings and he will fight to the death for each of them. 

He was adopted in 2006 by two very lovely people and as far as he knows, they’ve always been his real parents. They never were super well off but the love was always there.

Had some temperament issues but instead of acting out in a negative way, he was encouraged to put the pent up emotions into exercise and music. Taught himself the guitar, took up sports etc.

This is how he discovered and came to love rock music. It was a key factor to expressing his anger in a healthy way.

Didn’t get to Seoul until around 2012. They moved for his dad’s new job.

He and his friends formed a metal band in junior high, Dim, that lasted until 2018.

In 2016, a talent agent at LGC approached him after he participated in a singing contest but after two years of freeloading vocal lessons, he peaced tf out. ( Let’s just say a lot of stuff was going on with his life and he was having a crisis. )

He enlisted in 2018 because he didn't know what to do with his life. He was on cooking duty and a marine and he still holds onto the disciplines a bit even still.

After he came back, he went right into working and became a chef to explore his second passion.

Eventually in Jan. 2020, he was approached by another talent agent interested in signing him again to LGC after an open mic night in Hongdae.

PERSONALITY & STUFF

Like I said before: he is a Sagittarius

Master of singing and variety. He is here to continue his class clown antics.

Yes, he still has that Yoon Bora poster on his wall.

Yes, he is amazing at dad jokes and puns.

A bit of an adrenaline junkie. He can’t stand staying stagnant for too long. Though he’s getting better at knowing when to chill out as he’s gotten older. (inb4 he says blonds have more fun then changes his hair again)

An extrovert through and through. The term “social butterfly” was invented for him.

He hasn’t grown out of the punk rock style. Leather jackets? Check. Thankfully stylists have helped him refine his wardrobe so he doesn’t look like a thrift store threw up on him.

Rock music is his bread and butter. He doesn’t mind the softer stuff sometimes but when I say he is a music snob, I mean it and he uses the word “poser” more than I want to admit.

A huge wrestling fan. As in the dramatic people running around a ring wearing spandex kind. He finds it hilarious and hype so he tunes into American and Japanese wrestling programs a lot. Also loves UFC. Not sorry to his roommates.

Works out a lot. Like a lot. Is into boxing and weights and is all about that protein..

As I was reading through your info, he immediately came to mind. I feel like you both are so similar, it won't be a problem to connect at all.

Yeosang has this kind of duality. When you just met him, his shy and also a bit awkward, meeting new people it's not his forte nor it's to demonstrate his feelings or thoughts. So it might be hard to get to know him at first, but time will work its magic and oh my goodness, wasn't it worth it, because when he's comfortable he truly shines. He'll throw the sassyness and the salvageness right back at you, he'll probably agree that banter it's a love language!

But since you're both have this similar personality, I feel like you'd be one of the few people who would understand his personality quite fast, because there's really no one like that in Ateez and he's known to be the random between them.
