So, what does a Teen Advisory Group DO, anyway?
The short answer is that a TAG does whatever the YA librarian needs done at that moment. TAG members can help to create virtual displays, book reviews, or other social media content. If library staff need to spend their funds on stuff like craft supplies or snacks to share during programs, they can ask the TAG for suggestions so that they'll spend those funds on things that teenagers actually want.
The way I ran my TAG shifted when we moved from an in-person to a virtual program several years ago. While I do miss having this program in person, I will say that one kind of participation improved in the virtual space. That's when I need to spend my YA funds on something, I share my screen so everyone can see all the choices we've got, I scroll through the options slowly and ask questions, and our teens type a running commentary in the chat. THEN I save that chat so that when I do my shopping, I can incorporate their suggestions!
At yesterday's TAG meeting, I needed our teens' input in some shopping decisions. While I can't recreate the whole meeting, I can share the most important part of it. Just imagine that I'm sharing my screen and talking out loud while asking questions like:
Do you want to vote on craft kits or do you want to vote on snacks? [Guess what? They went for the snacks. SHOCKING, I know!]
Should I bother getting healthy snacks, or are teens not going to eat them?
Do Funyuns even count as a food group?
What kind of juices do you recommend?
Then our teens typed their answers, which I thought were both enlightening and entertaining, so I decided to share them with you. ENJOY!

Today I emailed a parent. Not unusual, but the content was. Because, you see, I emailed a parent to tell them what their child said at a program. A virtual program.
We as staff hear concerning things from kids. It's just a part of youth work. As long as there are terrible things in the world, they will happen to children, and the children will tell the adults that they have access to. That's us. Even things that aren't "terrible," but feel terrible.
But anyway, it was a hard email to write. I don't know this parent. I don't know this family. I don't know what this child looks like, what they enjoy, or really anything about their life. So different than camp. I just know what was said, and if we are to take the mental health of children seriously, we should for sure take it seriously at a mental health program.

Native American Culture Keeper Experience Women’s History Month @ Institute for American Indian Studies
During his message commemorating the first-ever National Women’s History Week in 1980, President Jimmy Carter said “From the first settlers who came to our shores, from the first American Indian families who befriended them, men and women have worked together to build this nation. Too often the women were unsung and sometimes their contributions went unnoticed. But the achievements, leadership,…

sometimes I get NFTbros trying to get me to sell my work as crypto bullshit and NOTHING shuts them up faster than me saying
‘oh actually literally all my AR art is published under public domain! no single person can own it because technically it’s owned by everyone :))’
they hate not being able to manufacture artificial scarcity

what if what if wooly is a real person AND a program
think about it. what if wooly was first made to put amanda in her place or control her (to make sure she doesn't remember her past life or anyone from there etc)
but THEN someone's soul got In that show (which i could only assume would be one of the missing kids), and the soul itself infused with wooly, his personality - HIS CODE. which is why he acts so humane and at times seems to actually care for the player because he DOES.
he literally gets frustrated when amanda calls him a sheep "amanda, im an animal - and i-", "haha.. yeah, you sound just like me.." and continues to act upset every time she does that. if this isn't implying that wooly is a person, then i don't know what is.
he also seems to not have a voice actor in the credits which, is weird because where would his voice come from?
in the alpha version of the game, most of his lines seem to be very forced. him warning the player doesn't seem genuine, more like a threat rather than an actual care for the player.
but in the full game, he gets way more personality and flair and i guess exaggerated expressions? oh and he actually seems to give a crap about us! he gets his own tape and we even get a code which deciphered reads out "who is wooly?"
the contrast between these versions of the game makes me think they are trying to tell us something. and i think i know what it is.

Some concept art for Vivid BAD SQUAD's MEIKO variant reveals that she had a different, shorter hairstyle at one point in development. This was eventually scrapped and her final design uses MEIKO's regular hairstyle. However, this suggests that the SEKAI variants for all Virtual Singers were planned to have different hairstyles, not just Miku.
While it is unknown why this idea was scrapped, it was probably to save time and resources making more 3D models.

I'm planning a virtual program and I managed to get at least one badge step written into the curriculum for every age (including Senior/Ambassador). I'm really excited for this program. It's not as big as early 2020 events, but I think it should still be a decent turnout (fingers crossed). It's also gone national, so I've got coast to coast represented!
