if I had a nickel every time an episode in Ace Attorney involves a murder orchestrated by a pair of partners-in-crime where:

the one who wanted the victim dead and who's calling the shots is the yang-esque partner, an orange/red-coloured and explicitly cat-coded villain antagonist man with a misleadingly nice title/nickname/slogan ("tender"; "refreshing" etc) that doesn't suit his real nature + a bright conspicuous motorbike that is currently out of use, whose main thing is acting i.e. playing different characters & roles, and is able to fool many around him with his act, who is the primary antagonist or "real" bad guy in the episode narratively and,

the one who was enlisted by the cat-coded biker to help with the murder is the yin-esque partner, a black/white-coloured character with an ostentatious visible sign of past injury on their head and an eerie aura designated to invoke fear & creepiness from the moment they appear on screen, who consistently makes it sound as if they might kill you or someone else any second when they speak, but is ultimately treated as less antagonistic/more sympathetic than cat biker by the narrative.

and

cat biker stars as the leading role of their murderous two-man act, while the scary accomplice plays a supporting role in the background costumed in the uniform of the service job (e.g. maid, butler, waitress, bellboy) they're disguising themselves in.

despite serving the cat biker, scary accomplice is actually far more powerful in reality and both of them know it. scary accomplice's last name is infamously powerful in the criminal underworld and strikes terror into people's hearts; when brought up to the law enforcement for the first time, the player is told that other outlaws fear them and the police can't reach them.

cat biker acts tough and intimidating with the rogue face he puts on but he's actually a coward absolutely terrified of scary accomplice's actual power, because he knows the only reason they hasn't got him dead yet is that he is still on the accomplice's good side and they trust him.

and

the duo carries out the murder according to cat biker's wish but they're unsatisfied without making sure biker never gets convicted, so they decide to take a step further and mess with the lawyering as well. so they target phoenix wright personally, which eventually becomes their undoing because it just pushes him to find out the truth even more.

moreover, phoenix hates betrayal personally, and during his search he finds out that cat biker has been deceiving scary accomplice all along, despite scary accomplice's strong devotion to and forceful dedication to trusting cat biker. cat biker also even expresses his contempt toward them for this foolish trust behind them

phoenix breaks the truth about this betrayal to scary accomplice but couldn't get through until he provides evidence with the correct explanation, because accomplice has wanted to trust cat biker. after phoenix gets the truth through, scary accomplice completely turns against cat biker and wants him punished, which eventually helps phoenix gets him convicted and jailed with the help of unconventional methods

...I would have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but,

did you know that AA2: Justice for All was originally going to have 5 episodes, and Recipe for Turnabout was supposed to be 2-4 while Farewell, My Turnabout was originally meant to be 2-5, before they ran out of space and switched Recipe for Turnabout out for AA3 instead?

which means if it went as planned, Recipe for Turnabout would've been right before Farewell, My Turnabout. I wonder if that means this parallel could actually have been not completely unintentional?

Things that happen at home:

So, my mom had her first symphony concert this weekend, and I’m happy to report that it was a smashing success.

What I personally thought was really cool is that the whole symphony is mostly older women. Most of the brass section was older men though, and you could tell that the trumpet and trombone players were having a great time with the music (lots of jamming out head and shoulders movement) and WOW that tuba player has A Set Of Lungs.

Honestly kinda makes me miss the days when Middle Sister would stand just outside my bedroom door and just BLAST through her practice session as fast as possible. Yes, she was a tuba player. Yes, she was in marching band and orchestra. Yes, I absolutely ran out screaming “MOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!” Every. Single. Time. No, that did not stop her in anyway whatsoever.

Anyway, there was also a cello soloist that performed with violin and viola accompaniment, and he was legitimately fantastic. I told my mom during intermission that she was better and she did her scrunch up face of You’re Full Of Shit But I Like The Support which was cute.

I was sitting next to my one of my cousins for the concert and we both kept side eyeing each other and giggling about how he was bobbing along and jamming out…for those of you that don’t know, it’s very easy to jam out and look cool when you have either a very small instrument or a very large instrument.

When you have a medium instrument, like a cello or French horn, you just look silly if you’re jamming out (saxophone is the exception) and my mom has this very…contained way of playing that looks intense but graceful and determined. So to see someone looking like they’re jamming out on an electric guitar while playing a cello was just…hilarious to us, because we’ve been watching my mom jam out for decades and never seen anyone look so goofy while sounding so good.

One of my moms work friends showed up, and she was an absolute delight. Complete sweetheart; it’s also really fucking funny to tease government contractors about their top secret clearances and joke about their projects or basically anything that they aren’t allowed to talk about. (I teased her specifically about being in the CIA because she does intelligence analysis; my husband and I have a long standing “argument” about if my mom works on quantum computers or making targeted ai satellite systems talk to each other, because honestly her PhD could easily allow for both) the goal is to make relatively small jokes and then drop it quickly because you don’t actually want them to violate their security protocols…but fucking hell if it isn’t fun to toe the line.

My mechanic husband had the dubious joy of teaching me how to jump start a car in the parking lot without jumper cables. (My car battery is in the fritz and needs replacement but we honestly thought it could wait another month or so…)

But basically you put the car in neutral, push it into a position that it can roll naturally downhill, then put it in either first gear or reverse (which ever way is down hill, basically) and release the clutch. I’m pretty sure this only works on automatic transmission vehicles, but I could be wrong and didn’t ask for clarification.

I’d like to point out that we were in a crowded parking lot with a perfectly functioning set of jumper cables. We could have absolutely asked any of the ten people walking by if we could get a jump. We could have waited for my cousin to come out, because we were parked right next to each other. But no. “What if you’re stuck by yourself? You pride yourself on being able to get out of anything.”

That man knows me too well.

Overall, great night. Fantastic concert, great learning experience, got to be an absolute little shit. 10/10, would do again.

It's good that @crepes-suzette-373 made this post because I've been wanting to voice my thoughts on this topic for a while. Iti's nothing new, but I personally find the concept of 恋/koi within the story very interesting, as I think it's the word chosen to convey Sanji's feelings for Nami deliberately. I don't think it's a topic up for debate as there's no much depth in it, but anyway, I want to post my ramblings on Sanji, how he feels about Nami and women and the perception others have for that.

恋/koi (love) as a concept is significant, and I think it will gain weight later in the story. After all, it has been heavily present from the beginning, since Sanji first mentioned it in Arlong Park, going to Hancock and Gloriosa referring to a famous East Blue's poem (Hancock's love for Luffy reminisced Gloriosa to the same love that former Amazon Lily's empresses developed), and even going through Chopper on SBS.

It's a concept that I doubt will fall on deaf ears, as in this post, I believe too that it will potentially have a significant role in the future, be it for Hancock or Sanji's side (or both).

And when it comes to Sanji, it's always been in relation to Nami (except for that one time in Dressrossa, but it was the time he fell for Viola's lies when she still pretended to be Violet).

Indeed, 恋 is exclusively romantic, and in fact I have seen some translators choose to translate it as “true love". Furthermore, it connotes “desire, longing, wanting” and refers specifically to the “falling in love” part of it.

But all of this, the part in which the author 'lets us know' that this is how Sanji feels for Nami and that's when he brings up this 'East Blue poem', that hasn't been worded by Sanji, at least yet.

Bear with me. Back in Punk Hazard, Sanji used ホレち/horechi (from verb 惚れる/horeru) which means “to fall in love”. And then, in WCI, as we already know, he does indeed use the verb 好き/suki when Nami hugs him. Compared to 恋/koi or 愛/ai, it is a much more relaxed and informal verb.

Funnily, much, much later in the story, in chapter 1005 during the Wano arc, when confronted to Black Maria, he says "I want to love all the ladies" and he uses the verb 愛したい/aishitai ('I want to love', literally). And then, in the most recent chapters, when he fights S-Shark to protect Nami, he says 愛の力/ai no chikara (the power of love). What's different from 恋/koi? Well, 恋 is used only for romantic feelings, while 愛 (which he used to refer to all the ladies) is not necessarily romantic. In fact, it refers to a kind of pure and selfless love.

So, maybe, maybe Sanji still has to have some development to know truly what kind of feelings he truly harbors, and learn what he really wants.

Further in the analysis (and I'm aware this is already a pretty cheesy post) I went on to know how others perceive Sanji's relationship with Nami.

In Thriller Bark, Absalom said 妙 に 執着/myō ni shūchaku (deep concern and attachment) to how the Penguin zombie, with Sanji's shadow, felt for Nami (that “he was strangely obsessed over her”). Later on, he says that Nami is "the woman he wanted to protect"/守りたかった.

In Gyojin Island, 過剰 に 反応/kajō ni hannō is said by Hody's pirates, which referred to him overreacting to attacks on Nami.

Robin brings attention to the topic in chapter 1078 by saying "if Nami screams, someone is gonna rush in instantly".

And let's not forget the most famous:

This is part of my reasoning and why I believe that Sanji, despite him being the one in love with Nami throughout all the story and it being an idea very present in the manga and the characters in it, might not have yet figured out how he feels and what he wants when it comes to women and love.

Chissà se ce la faccio a scrivere di 4 anni di ricordi, ma questo è un posto di ricordi belli, e tu sei uno di quelli, di quelli più belli. Li ho raccolti in due giorni di viaggio, perché la capa mia non è più quella di una volta, ho bisogno di tempo, e non servirà raccontarli tutti.

Okay, dopo una nottata di sonno, agitato purtroppo, sono leggermente più tranquilla e lucida rispetto a ieri sera. E ringrazio chiunque abbia la pazienza di leggersi tutta questa mia sclerata, ma era una cosa che dovevo tirarmi fuori il prima possibile.

Partiamo con il dire che non ce l'ho con nessuno degli attori, stanno facendo il loro lavoro e avevano un copione da rispettare, quindi al massimo si possono incolpare le scelte registiche e di sceneggiatura.

Dopo questa premessa, voglio concentrarmi sul fatto che i recenti episodi sono stati una genuina presa in giro verso l'audience, di tutte le età, ma in particolare di coloro che fanno parte della comunità lgbtq+, bisessuali in primis. L'intelligenza dello spettatore è stata insultata più volte, con l'effetto di creare rabbia e confusione, perché come abbiamo constatato più volte in queste settimane, gli scrittori della serie non sanno trattare delle tematiche che vadano oltre la "Famiglia Tradizionale".

L'episodio 11 ne è un chiaro esempio, con la famigliola improvvisata tra Manuel e Nina, che, giusto per sottolineare la follia a cui abbiamo assistito, hanno rapito la figlia della suddetta e avevano intenzione di scappare in un altro Paese. Manuel è stato ridotto a uno zerbino, senza una personalità che vada oltre il voler essere uno pseudo-padre per Lilli, mentre Nina doveva essere il personaggio tsundere con cui creare una sorta di enemies-to-lovers, ma quello che è risultato essere è un personaggio piatto, senza un minimo di personalità al di fuori di Manuel e della figlia.

Questi poi sono andati da Simone a chiedere aiuto, mentre il docente andava a chiedere ai genitori affidatari di non denunciare, quando questi ne avrebbero tutto il diritto. E non mi si venga a dire che Nina ha diritto a sua figlia, non dopo quello che ha fatto. è vero, era stata tratta in inganno quando era andata a quel rave, e lì mi è dispiaciuto, perché ha perso tutto ma non per sua volontà, qui invece ha preso una decisione conscia e l'ha effettuata senza pensarci due volte, con la complicità di Zerbino.

Intanto Mimmo sta effettivamente andando in una situazione pericolosa, consapevole di farlo, ma vuole avere un futuro fuori dal carcere, ed è una cosa che ammiro. Giustamente, uno qualsiasi si cagherebbe a farlo, ma lui ha deciso di cambiare anche perché Simone gli ha fatto capire di essere di più di un carcerato, un condannato alla criminalità, ma una persona, con dei desideri e dei sogni. Inoltre, qui hanno avuto la decenza di caratterizzarlo fuori da Simone, infatti hanno entrambi la loro personalità e il loro carattere, non come Zerbino e Criminale.

Una cosa poi che mi ha veramente infastidito è come hanno trattato Nicola quando ha denunciato figlio e combriccola al seguito. Lo hanno dipinto come se fosse lui nel torto, quando in realtà ha cercato di salvare il culo a tutti, mentre Dante voleva fare tutto sottobanco, come suo solito dopotutto. Mi ha dato fastidio inoltre come per un rapimento di minore non ci sia stata nessuna denuncia o incarceramento, ma anzi, Nina ha ottenuto un lavoro nell'azienda di Nicola e Manuel e Anita possono vivere in una villa donata dall'uomo, così che possano stare con Viola. La battuta poi del 135 di qi è dà buttare. Il quoziente intellettivo non è una misura attendibile di intelligenza, ma misura la capacità di comprendere le situazioni in cui ci troviamo e la capacità di acquisire delle informazioni. Nina palesemente non è così, agisce in modo sconsiderato e illogico (una persona può essere emotiva e logica allo stesso tempo, questo è da sottolineare).

Terminiamo con la questione Simuel vs Mimmone. Io sono per i Mimmone, questa stagione lì ha sviluppati molto di più rispetto ai Simuel, che non si sono parlati mezza volta, e sono molto generosa su questo fatto. Mimmo e Simone sono stati l'ancora l'uno per l'altro e spero vivamente che Mimmo ritorni per la terza stagione. Hanno molta più chimica e si vede che tengono all'altro.

Per ricollegarmi alla questione dell'intelligenza insultata degli spettatori, voglio riprendere questa parte di un'intervista rilasciata:

Io non so se gli sceneggiatori o il regista o chi lavori in questa serie dal punto di vista tecnico conoscano bene l'italiano. Per fare il lavoro che fanno, dovrebbero saper conoscere la differenza tra le parole "Basato" e "Ispirato".

Questa serie è basata su Merlì, una serie spagnola che mi tratta di un personaggio gay e uno bisessuale, resi rispettivamente in Simone e Manuel in questa. E questo nella prima stagione c'è! Effettivamente mantiene le basi della serie originale. La seconda stagione ha preso una virata completamente diversa, e ci può stare eh, ma alla fine il personaggio di Manuel ne esce completamente diverso. Le scene di gelosia delle prime due puntate sono stata completamente rimosse dalla mente dei personaggi, non abbiamo più quello che doveva essere teoricamente un triangolo/quadrato amoroso.

La bisessualità di Manuel è stata totalmente cancellata, perché nella visione italiana del mondo, le persone possono essere solo Gay o Etero, nient'altro (tanto che non si usa mai questa parola, ma sempre eufemismi, come "né da carne, né da pesce", "è creativo"). E questo è un grave insulto a chi sperava di avere un qualche tipo di rappresentazione che fosse una. Okay, c'è Mimmo, questo è vero, ma il focus principale era Manuel e la sua esplorazione mentre capiva che gli piacciono anche gli uomini. FINE. Non dovevano esserci così tante sottotrame. E prima che mi si venga a dire che anche Pol in Merlì si faceva principalmente solo donne durante la serie, posso ribattere che dato che hanno cambiato già diversi aspetti di Manuel, un focus in più su questo suo aspetto ci poteva stare. Dopotutto, "basato" vuol dire questo, la base c'è ma ti puoi permettere di fare dei cambiamenti, purché non vadano a snaturare i personaggi.

Infine, buttiamola un po' sul ridere, ma c'è solo da piangere. La r4i è riuscita a censurare di brutto un'altra coppia omo, mentre quelle etero hanno tutte il loro "lieto fine", in qualche modo, anche se sono una più tossica dell'altra. Anita e Dante si sono fatti le corna a vicenda, e peggio ancora Dante non rispetta in alcun modo le donne che sono nella sua vita, Anita e Nicola sono diventati dei co-parents, ma Nicola sta sotto per lei, Zerbino e Criminale dovevano finire in carcere, ma invece si sono beccati una pacca sulle mani e Floriana e Dante sono inguardabili sotto ogni punto di vista. Viola e Ryan si salvano perché loro effettivamente sono stati sviluppati, anche al di fuori della loro romance, e sono molto carini. Luna a rischio stupro per un ragazzo che non aveva mai visto in faccia, mentre Matteo e Laura si sono messi insieme grazie all'intervento di Humbert Humbert.

Voglio chiedere a chi ha scritto questa roba se sia effettivamente soddisfatto di ciò. A parte i Raviola, sono uno peggio dell'altro, senza un minimo di senso o chimica. è questo quello a cui dovremmo aspirare? Seriamente? TADC, better known as The Amazing Digital Circus.

The Amazing Digital Circus is a 3D animated series written by @gooseworx and produced by @glitch-productions-official on YouTube. As of 1-3-2024, only the pilot is released. It centers around wacky characters who are humans transported to a digital circus through a headset. Once they arrive, all memories of who they were before are lost. The only ones there are the other humans transported in and Caine, an AI that doesn’t really understand what’s going on either, but he’s trying to help at least! The story starts when our main character, Pomni gets put in this digital hell realm. She must figure out how to adapt, and hopefully eventually escape this circus.

2. Murder Drones

sidenote: in case you couldn’t tell I fucking love murder drones *ahem* ANYWAY-

Murder Drones is a 3D animated series written by @liamvickersanimation and produced by @glitch-productions-official on YouTube. As of 1-3-23, only 6 episodes of the first season are out. The story centers around main character Uzi Doorman, an angsty worker drone teen that just needs a hug. Her planet of Copper-9 has been tormented by disassembly drones, better known as “Murder Drones”, for years. One day, she leaves her colony to find and kill these despicable monsters. Until she meets N, a friendly disassembly drone wio doesn’t realize Uzi is a worker. She manages to get some info out of him before fleeing, and accidentally leading him to her colony. The rest of N’s team follows him and they kill like, 80% of the robots there. N and Uzi take down N’s former teammates, and form an unlikely friendship. Suddenly, there’s a mysterious symbol plaguing Uzi. Now while their world slows my collapses around them, Uzi and N need to find out what everyone’s hiding and unravel the secrets of the symbol… before the universe dies.

3. Wilderlore

Wilderlore is a book series written by Amanda Foody. As of 1-3-23, only 3 books are out. The story centers around young Barclay Thorne, who is raised an orphan in Dullshire. In Dullsjire there are rules, rules that should not be broken. Until one day, Barclay breaks the biggest rule of them all: no Lore. (Lore is what they call magic.) By accidentally bonding with a beast, he has gotten his own magic or Lore, that makes him very feared. So he leaves with a mysterious girl, Viola Dumont. Together they travel through different regions with their Trainer or Master, hoping to fully master their abilities with their Beasts.

I typed every one of these by hand, from memory. I’m very dedicated if you couldn’t tell, lol.
