Man, I sure love drawing Zbornaks.
This is Jeremy, Sylvia's ex, full-time villain.
He might be enemies with Sally and Theo, but I dunno.

Here's the scene: A grandiose event where villains get together, to boast and mingle, to exchange contacts, to Ted-Talk and ego boost their way to fame. A villain-expo/grammies of sorts, and Evil-con, if you will. During a board meeting involving the more so "intellectually inclined"(nerdy and self-absorbed) villains around the galaxy, there is a discussion involving long term planning and evil scheming which leads to discussing financial planning for retirement and family and so on so forth. Eventually Peepers is asked a question regarding Lord Hater's longevity, which leads to further extremely personal questions, which Peepers takes with secondhand embarrassment inducing grace, ultimately leading to Peepers responding, "Have I heard of MLM? Why the Hater empire practically runs on it!" and everyone is all surprised, and quite intrigued, and so Peepers, high on the attention and the fact that people are taking him seriously for once, goes on and on an embarrassingly long time about the intricacies and benefits and gains of "MLM" scheming but gets odd looks or halfhearted disagreements and so Peepers spouts out, "Oh come on, are you REALLY a villain if you haven't dabbled in MLM at least once in your career?" ending in a haunty scoff only Peepers could perfectly execute so smugly, so ruefully, so 10/10-fully. Cut to Sylvia casually sipping a drink as Peepers vents, pathetically sobbing: "I THOUGHT THEY MEANT MULTI LEVEL MARKETING!!"

Wander Over Yonder (Series Review) (Contains Spoilers!)
Tumblr media
Yup, I'm finally reviewing another cartoon! But I just don't have the energy to undertake a project like when I reviewed every single freaking Aosth episode one at a time, so this time around I'm going to look at the series as whole.
Tumblr media
Warning: I will discuss spoilers throughout this review, so if you are interested, please go watch the cartoon first! Thanks to disney being stupid, it's still only available on disney plus - so you'll either have to pay for that or find another means to watch it. Yo ho ho!
Tumblr media
Wander over Yonder is a delightful, colorful and energetic Disney cartoon than originally began airing back in 2013. Its stories mainly revolve around its two main characters, Wander and Sylvia. Wander is a an altruistic space hippie who resembles a muppet-like creature, and his best friend Sylvia is a very butch-coded and punchy Zbornak, a species that is somewhere between a dragon and horse.
Tumblr media
Wander and Sylvia's lives seem to have consisted of traveling the universe in a magic space-safe bubble, having fun and helping folks. Things get a little more dangerous though, when one day they cross paths with one of the show's main villains - Lord Hater. Hater is a hilariously pitiful caricature of toxic masculinity - constantly needing reassurance that he's "the coolest guy ever" and seeking validation by destroying and bullying everyone and everything around him. Despite his very impolite behavior, the ever-affectionate and loving Wander is determined to see the good in Hater and help him find a healthier way of managing his feelings than "punching lame nerds in the face". Lord Hater's minions, the Watch Dogs, are also frequent targets of Hater's bullying but mostly maintain loyalty nonetheless. Chief among the Watch Dogs is Commander Peppers, who is far more professional about being a villain than Hater himself could ever hope to be.
Tumblr media
After the introductory setup, we'll see that many episodes consist of Hater trying to do something nasty, and Wander managing to mess it up just by being kind and nice. Many times, the Watchdogs will neglect their job duties and get distracted by Wander, as he treats them much better than Hater does.
Tumblr media
This sounds like it might be a repetitive theme, but the show does a great job of always throwing out variety in its stories. You'll see the "standard" Wander vs Hater stories but you'll see stories of Wander and Sylvia doing things on their own, and Hater and the watchdogs doing things on their own, and over time a whole slew of secondary villains and friends show up in the story as well! Given the setting of the show is an entire galaxy, this also gave the creators plenty of room to constantly change up the scenery with different worlds, different creatures, and even the occasional trip into alternate realities! Most episodes are comedy based, but every now and then the show comes out swinging with a very sweet or moving story as well, and these are done just as well as all the zany comedy.
Tumblr media
In season 2, the show introduces a new villain - Lord Dominator - bringing with her some big "shit just got real" energy. Unlike Lord Hater, she is much, MUCH more powerful and competent as a villain. She becomes such a threat that even Lord Hater is occasionally willing to work with Wander in helping fight her, as her relentless destruction of every planet around is only making him feel even more like a failure of a villain. At the end of the season, she is finally defeated in the sense that her ship is destroyed along with all of her robots, but she has no remorse for her actions and vows revenge on everyone who stood up to her. Sadly, the show only got 2 seasons, as disney never gave the creators the green-light for anymore.
Tumblr media
So that's my brief summary of the overall story-line, but how does the show look and sound? Well, just check out these screenshots for the visuals, they're fantastic! The art team put a whole lot of love into this show and it shows. With an entire galaxy for it's characters to run around, the background artists will treat you to countless beautiful, bright colorful worlds and environments. The characters are very well animated and extremely expressive, and the voice acting is great as well. There are many visual nods to old Hanna Barbera cartoon days and also seems to be love for the funky architecture, color schemes and aesthetics from classic scifi art, as well. The team behind the show has some familiar names attached to it such as main creator Craig McCracken (Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Lab), season one co-producer and story editor Lauren Faust (My Little Pony FIM), and the lovable Tom Kenny providing the voice of Commander Peepers (Spongebob, Adventure Time).
Tumblr media
In terms of themes and messages, the show gets a lot of things right which is another reason I admire it. Wander's altruistic nature lends itself to many wholesome story-line moments, and the interactions between him and Sylvia can often symbolize many people's internal struggle with "wanting to always be kind and helpful while also not being a doormat for all the bullies out there who don't appreciate kindness".
Tumblr media
The show also has a couple episodes that touch on the importance of consent, which I like a lot. In one episode, Lord Hater ends up in the care of Wander and Sylvia after getting heavily drugged up during a painful dentist visit, and he's so blitzed out of his mind that he doesn't remember anything about Wander or being a villain and just enjoys spending time with his "new friends." At the end of the episode, Hater starts to put his mind back together, and flees in disgust at the thought of being friendly with the two. Naturally, Wander feels hurt and dissapointed, but as Sylvia tries to comfort him he also points that it wouldn't be right to have Hater's "friendship" with him not be of his own conscious choice.
Tumblr media
Similarly, in another episode, we meet a villain (who is voiced by Weird Al!) who is like a corrupted version of Wander - instead of wanting to help people be happy, he forces them to be "happy". This infuriates and disgusts wander as he believes people must experience joy of only their own free will.
Tumblr media
Overall I love the series, but I did some have some criticisms. One of the more minor ones is that it felt like they might have had a limited sound effects budget, as I noticed the show reused the exact same "Wham!" and "crying baby" sound effect so many times that it started to get distracting to me. I know good audio recording equipment is expensive as hell and thus can understand folks using stock sound effects, but I feel the show might have benefited from maybe some extra foley sounds to add more variety.
Tumblr media
Another thing I didn't care for sometimes, is that there's handful of episodes that just feel very mean-spirited towards Sylvia, and in some of them Wander himself is the one being hurtful or even downright creepy towards her in some way or another. The moral of these stories is often Wander realizing he was being terrible, but it feels like the subject gets taken too lightly sometimes. Similarly, the show does occasionally have the mean-spirited gag of "bad things keep happening to Sylvia and we're supposed to find it funny", an old cartoon trope that's always disturbed me. Slapstick is one thing, but when it feels the writers are just bullying a character it can get uncomfortable.
Tumblr media
There was a subplot throughout much of season 2 that rubbed me the wrong way, too. When Dominator is first introduced, everyone initially assumes her to be a guy under her suit of armor, but when Wander later realizes she's a woman, he immediately jumps to the idea of trying to hook her and Hater up as a couple. Part of his reasoning is that he feels like if Hater and Dominator are busy with making the smoochy-smoochy, they'll both lose interest in destroying planets and bullying their inhabitants. But still, the hetero-normative trope of just assuming that every woman is interested in A - relationships period, and B - a relationship with a man, is the kind of attitude I'd expect from Lord Hater, but not from sweet little Wander. He goes on about this for much of season 2, and Hater is also on board once he sees Dominator without her helmet on, but I am glad that at-least both Sylvia AND Dominator find the notion ridiculous the entire time, and at the end of season two, we don't have the additional sexist trope of her caving to a relationship she was never interested in having, thus "the bad girl getting redeemed via hooking up with a dude" trope.
Tumblr media
On the subject of character relationships, I personally think if Dominator isn't just an asexual/aromantic killing machine she would most likely go for Sylvia if anyone, since she's the only one who actually came close to becoming friends with Dominator in one episode. Also, I got the impression that Commander Peppers really had a thing for Hater, as well. If Hater ever grows up, he and Peepers could make a cute couple, I'm sure. :)
Tumblr media
Despite some of these things that bothered me, I still think the show is pretty great over all. While it could definitely use some more gay and less heteronormativity , it does still have a lot of wholesomeness and positive messages, lovely art, great humor, lovable characters, and even some very moving episodes. Now I just really wish the greedy putzes at disney would give this show a DVD set already! Hell, they never even made any plush toys. I want a little plushie of Sylvia, dammnit!

WOY HUMAN AU!!
It's basically all the same, except the main cast is Human Adjacent (the watchdogs are Fauns, zbornaks are like centaurs) Wander and Hater are the only real humans. Hater has his evil magics, so he's only a little bit human and A Lot something else, Wander is fully human and he's the only kind in the whole Galaxy.
The main story divergence, outside of the minor changes so that the characters work w their new forms, takes place After season 3. It's also Mostly abt Commander Peepers & the Watchdogs. It's also less abt them being different shapes and more what I think a new, angsty season 3 could b abt
WOY spoilers under the cut
Dominator is Gone, for now, so there's a race with all the Galaxy's villains to fill the void left in her wake. After breaking up a few dogfights, Hater and Wander convince the other villains to team up to help clean the Galaxy instead. Hater and Wander grow closer and closer, as Hater begins to find that he actually LIKES to help people.
SO, with all the main villains mostly good, and Hater on the way to complete Good Guy Reform, we need another, NEW big bad to fill up the antagonist role.
Commander Peepers.
At first he's fine, helping them clean the Galaxy. It's a nice break from all the horror and what-not from Dominator almost destroying them all. He's content enough. It can't last forever though, and he's eager to get back into the planet conquering game, especially now that the planets are all new and uncharted! The one problem? Whenever he tells Lord Hater, Hater brushes him off. At first he assumes Hater is still tired. That's fine, Peepers tells himself.
Things begin to add up though.
Hater begins to spend less and less time on the Skullship; time he's spending hanging out with that Wandering Weirdo. Peepers pretends like he doesn't notice how Hater comes home late at night with flower crowns tucked into his pockets or the scent of campfire on his cloak, but after getting blown off repeatedly he can only hold out for so long.
Peepers blows up at Hater one night. It's a lot of pent up aggression on both sides. Hater is upset that Peepers is so un-accepting. Peepers though has been Betrayed, by his longest and best friend, his Leader, and he's Pissed. He begins to realize that it mustve been Hater who has been holding him back this whole time. That the Hater Empire- no, the Watchdog Empire- would have been able to have conquered the whole system, the whole Galaxy by now, if only Peepers let go of the one person holding him back.
He kicks Hater out of the Skullship during the fight. Hater didn't care about the Watchdogs, didn't understand them, not in the way Peepers did, and it was easy to command his army to get rid of Hater. They leave him stranded on a planet, and Peepers flies to the other side of the Galaxy, as far from Hater as possible.
For a while, probably a good few months, a year perhaps, it's Lord Peepers and the Watchdogs conquering planets upon planets. Without Hater, Peepers is competent, aggressive, and merciless. They find Westley somewhere along the way, and Peepers, furious that Westley did the same thing as Hater, locks him up in the dungeons for a while before re-employing him once they begin to get low on man-power.
Westley and Andy team up to call out to Wander for help. With Peepers in charge, and as angry as he is, life as a Watchdog is painful and exhausting. They send out signals occasionally, that can be traced to the location of the Skullship. Eventually Wander finds a phone and is able to contact Westley, and they work to cross paths.
Meanwhile, Peepers gets madder and madder. He can't get over what happened with Wander and Hater, and in his rage he grows more and more sporadic and cruel. He tears things apart and breaks things constantly in fits of rage. He's building a plan in his room, to get revenge on all who he feels wronged him.
Westley works as a spy, making Peepers "open up" by being the only one who pays attention to his mad rants and sitting with Peepers when he's tired enough to explain his plans. Westley relays all that to Sylvia, Wander, and Hater, who are doing their best to help those on conquered planets all while staying Under the Radar.
One day, though, they slip up. Wander can't resist helping someone or Hater gets into a fight with one of the Watchdogs left to keep order on the planet. Either way, Peepers begins tracking them. The typical shenanigans ensue, Wander and co sneaking onto the Skullship, bothering Peepers, running away.
It all makes Peepers Furious, though. One time he overhears Wander and the rebel Watchdogs conspiring against him, and that's the final straw for him. He pretends he doesn't know that most of the Watchdogs are planning to turn against him and continues with his invasion as usual. This time, however, he follows the Watchdogs. Typically he just drops off a few and leaves. This time, however, he's tailing them the whole time, walking easy and measured. He hasn't seen the sun in a while, and it takes a moment for him to adjust.
The rebellion is surprised, but Wander, Hater, and Sylvia stand their ground. Peepers walks up to them, and Wander steps forward, much to the chagrin of his friends. Peepers is covered in medals and hidden weapons, it's extremely dangerous to get too close. Wander waved them off though. They stand and talk, or Wander talks at Peepers, and Peepers stands still enough for Wander to let his guard down and get close.
Peepers LUNGES. He doesn't even bother to take out a hidden knife, his claws are enough. He punches Wander, pushes him into the ground. Peepers is smiling, manically, and raises his hand for the final strike- there's a crackle of energy, and Peepers flies back, away from Wander.
Hater had shot at him. Peepers coughs, reaches towards his very burnt chest. He really didn't expect that to happen, but he gathers his resolve. Peepers takes a moment to stand, lets Hater's final betrayal sink in. The crowd is hushed, watching him struggle to stand. Peepers manages, gets up, turns stiffly. He begins to walk back on shaky legs. Peepers gets a few steps, then promptly collapses.
From there, the Watchdogs take over. Westley orders them to take Peepers in, getting him immediate care. Wander and Sylvia and Hater begin living on the ship for a while, waiting for Peepers to wake up again. After he does, Hater and Peepers begin to work on fixing their relationship (very VERY slowly, Peepers is really mad for a While). Wander and Peepers talk together, too, and Wander helps him with Physical Therapy. Eventually they all make up and fix the planets Peepers conquered, but it takes a While.
That's all I got for now, and obviously less detail than usual (sleepy dead brain). There's a lot of small stuff w Watchdogs too, giving them more personality and interactions, but I don't feel like writing it all soooo

Worst cases of cartoons being screwed over
Tumblr media
Cartoons are amazing, no doubt. But you know what the worst thing about cartoons is? When an amazing cartoon with huge potential gets screwed over by the network! I’ve seen it way too many times like many of you have! So today, I will be sharing with you guys the worst cases of cartoons being screwed over! Here you go!
10. OK KO: Let’s Be Heroes!
Tumblr media
Cartoon Network’s treatment of this show really shows how innovation has been getting killed in cartoons as of late. While it started off receiving decent treatment, it all changed eventually halfway through its second season. Out of nowhere, the show gets moved to Sunday afternoon with absolutely no promotion. There were also barely any reruns of the series. All of these factors put together led to the series being canceled without the creator’s consent.
OK KO! Let’s Be Heroes takes place in the distant future in an alternate universe version of Maryland. It revolves around Kaio Kincaid also known as K.O. who has the goal of becoming the world’s greatest hero. He works at a store known as Gar’s Hero Supply & Bodega which sells a variety of items including hero supplies and many others. He works alongside Radicles (an alien from Planet X) and Enid (a female employee at Gar's Hero Supply & Bodega). The crew often have to fight off Boxmore, a store that sells equipment to supervillains. OK KO: Let’s Be Heroes! provides us with a great concept, unique artstyle and characters that all have very interesting personalities. OK KO! Let’s Be Heroes is definitely an amazing series that deserved better. You can watch OK KO! Let’s be Heroes on HBO Max or Hulu!
9. Wander Over Yonder
Tumblr media
Ugh…a show with a very optimistic and positive main character. This is what the world needs right now. All we ask is for the show to not get screwed over. Well guess what? It got screwed over hard. In September 2013, Disney started regularly airing Wander Over Yonder, and it was performing decently well. However, in January 2014, it was suddenly taken off the schedule only to return to Disney XD in July 2014. So does that mean the series can finally prosper? Well no, because Disney XD is usually where Disney cartoons go to die, AND they took it off again in February 2015 with 3 episodes of season 1 left unaired. The show returned in August 2015, only to be canceled in 2016 because Disney thought that the amount of episodes they had was “enough” despite the series ending on somewhat of a cliffhanger. This whole situation makes me wonder how the show would’ve performed if Disney did not move it to Disney XD or just entirely remove it from their network multiple times. I would assume it’d have performed well.
Wander Over Yonder is about Wander, a Nomad who goes around to different galaxies to spread positivity and to encourage people from different planets to have fun alongside his friend Sylvia the Zbornak. However, as every story needs conflict, the journey isn’t as easy as he’d like it to be as one of the most powerful villains in the galaxy, Lord Hater often gets infuriated with him while on his quest for galactic domination. I love this show. Some of my favorite aspects of the show are the positive messages, the vibrant designs and of course the fun characters. This show is truly an amazing show that makes me smile whenever I watch it. You can watch Wander Over Yonder on Disney+!
8. Teen Titans
Tumblr media
I’m sure we all know about this one. That dreaded cliffhanger hurt us all. Now Teen Titans cancellation was interesting. It was a series that was based off a huge franchise. It was loved by many, and it had DVDs, toys, comics and much more merchandise. So what happened? Well, according to creator, David Slack’s Twitter, he said that season 6 was an on again off again thing. The executives of Cartoon Network would say it would happen, they say it wouldn’t. However, it seems that the people working on the series thought that season 6 would happen, but it never did. It seems another factor that played a hand in the show’s cancellation was that Mattel did not own the licensing for toys, and they wanted to own the rights to manufacture the toys for all Cartoon Network shows. Whatever the reason may be, the outcome is still sad. And Cartoon Network has killed the legacy of Teen Titans more with Teen Titans Go, a show which while I don’t think is as bad as others say, it is definitely a step down from the original.
Teen Titans revolved around a group of 5 heroes known as the Teen Titans. The team consists of the leader Robin, a hero with the power to morph into animals named Beast Boy, an alien princess named Starfire, a cyborg named Cyborg (creativity at its peak hahah) and a goth girl with telekinesis named Raven. The series goes through multiple arcs with each arc focusing on a different character. I love the voice acting, the awesome soundtrack and the fast-paced action. Teen Titans definitely deserved better. You can watch Teen Titans on iTunes.
7. Sym-bionic Titan
Tumblr media
Sym-bionic Titan’s cancellation was strange to me. You’d think that Cartoon Network would treat it well seeing how it was made by Genndy Tartakovsky, the guy that made some of Cartoon Network’s most successful programs like Powerpuff Girls and Dexter’s Laboratory. However, even when the team has a great history, Cartoon Network doesn’t seem to put faith in them. The true reason for cancellation is pretty in the dust, but Cartoon Network’s scheduling did not help. It was firstly moved to a Wednesday evening slot which was an awkward time already, but after that with no notice, moved to Saturday morning at 9:30, and let’s be honest: who wakes up that early on a Saturday. This likely caused the show’s viewership to drop, which was one factor to the cancellation, but rumors were all in the air. Another rumor was that toy manufacturers refused to make toys of a show with a female lead, but even that is a bit strange because Young Justice had toys made for it. Either way, the scheduling definitely impeded Sym-bionic Titan from becoming a hit.
Sym-bionic Titan was centered around three beings named Lance, Ilana and Octus from the planet Galaluna who flee their planet to come to earth. Their planet is war-struck, and consumed by creatures named Mutraddi. The leader of the Mutraddi has the goal of killing the rightful heir of Galaluna, Ilana. The three blend in on Earth to avoid being caught by the evil leader. When in grave danger, the three can combine and form the Sym-Bionic Titan. Off the top of my head, I love the character designs this show provides, the writing and darker themes. It was definitely a great show that deserved better, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. You can watch Sym-Bionic Titan on iTunes!
6. Harvey Beaks
Tumblr media
I believe the creator himself said that if it doesn’t get the ratings that SpongeBob did, it gets canceled. Harvey Beaks was a series that was definitely treated unfairly. Harvey Beaks suffered a few hiatuses in between, and was even pulled off of Nickelodeon’s schedule at one point. After one of the hiatuses, a block was dedicated to new episodes of Harvey Beaks on Fridays, but even that was pulled out after two weeks. New episodes were aired months after, but with minimal promotion, and the series had no reruns. Eventually, it was banished to NickToons and was canceled without the creator’s knowledge.
Harvey Beaks was about Harvey, a blue bird who alongside his friends, Fee and Foo go through many different adventures in their wild habitat. While it is a pretty basic concept, there is still so much to love about it such as the wholesomeness, the characters and the unique artstyle. Harvey Beaks is the perfect example of taking a basic concept and making it feel unique and refreshing. It was amazing to see a show like this at a time where gross out humor was so prevalent at Nickelodeon. You can watch Harvey Beaks on Paramount Plus!
5. Glitch Techs
Tumblr media
Oh wow, a new innovative cartoon with awesome concepts that haven’t been tackled before and very fresh and colorful character designs? I’m sure this will be a hit! Well…it could’ve been. Guess what? Nickelodeon gave this show off to Netflix in early 2020. Half of the first season released, and eventually the second half was, but marketed as a second season, when in reality, it was just the second half of the first season. It was a shame because the series was amazing, and had potential to continue.
Glitch Techs is about two teenagers, Hector and Miko who stop these video game characters that come to life from wreaking havoc across the real life world. I really loved it - the characters along with their designs made it super enjoyable for me, and the premise alone was very intriguing. I’d highly recommend it. You can watch Glitch Techs on Netflix!
4. The Owl House
Tumblr media
Another one of the more recent cartoons to be added to the “successful but mistreated” category: The Owl House. The Owl House’s cancellation was really strange in my eyes: Firstly, Disney put out a promo for the show containing information that the series creator Dana Terrace did not want out. This is not really what led to its ultimate cancellation, but it is worth nothing as it shows how Disney treated it from the start. Furthermore, Disney cut the series short for no reason other than it not matching with their brand. Again, it is really strange as the series is widely acclaimed and one of the shows talked about the most in recent months.
The Owl House is about a girl named Luz who ends up finding a portal which takes her to a new world known as Boiling Isles, where she befriends a witch named Eda. She essentially practices becoming a witch with the help of Eda and her demon sidekick King. It was a great series, and the highlights for me were the animation, the LGBTQ representation and the characters who all were very vibrant and unique. You can watch The Owl House on Disney+ or Disney Now!
3. Infinity Train
Tumblr media
Most of us who have been involved with recent cartoons know about this one…the show with no “child entry point.” Infinity Train was treated pretty terribly from the start with the pilot airing at 6:00 AM. However, it did get support from the viewers which led to it being picked up as a series. And again, even with lots of love, it was screwed over. Infinity Train was unfortunately canceled after its fourth season due to lacking a “child entry point.” A pretty lame excuse if you ask me. Especially since it was performing well already.
Infinity Train is about a train that picks up passengers that have unresolved trauma, and they travel through the train’s cars to resolve their trauma. This series was truly amazing, and it’s obvious why anybody would be mad about its cancellation. I loved the amazing concept, how it is easily able to capture the viewer’s emotions and the morals that the series teaches. It was an amazing series, and I would definitely recommend it. You can watch Infinity Train on HBO Max!
2. Motorcity
Tumblr media
I probably brought back a forgotten memory. Why is it forgotten you may ask? Because of how Disney barely gave it any screen time! It was barely around, and it probably feels like a fever dream. Motorcity started off with being moved around in terms of timeslot constantly, and at one point was moved to a late night time slot. Alongside that, episodes would get leaked which would affect viewership, and unnecessary hiatuses would keep occurring. All this with minimal advertising. It truly is a shame that a great show had to go down with such sloppy treatment.
Motorcity takes place in a futuristic version of Detroit where an evil capitalist billionaire named Abraham Kane has taken over. However, he does have one threat: a group of rebels known as the Burners. The Burners consist of Mike (the leader), Julie (an insider gathering information from Abraham), Chuck (the tech guy), Dutch (the smart one), Texas (the muscle) and Jacob (the old aged mentor). The crew work to stop Abraham from taking over Motorcity, a  small part of Detroit that has not been capitalized by him yet. There is so much to love about this show. Specifically, I like the interesting characters, the well thought out plotline and the fact that the series can often be thought provoking. Motorcity was a great show that deserved better. You can watch Motorcity on iTunes!
1. Detentionaire
Tumblr media
Let’s be honest: this show has been screwed over so terribly that it isn’t even that well known because of how tampered it was. Detentionaire was a Canadian Teletoon series which was quite successful in Canada and other countries it aired in such as Australia. Unfortunately though, like most shows, Detentionaire needed a US audience to succeed, and this is where it went downhill. Cartoon Network did purchase the show, but they messed with it a LOT. Firstly, they hid it on their app which barely anyone already used. And by hiding, I mean they made it so people would have to do extra digging to find it. Not only did they do that, but they scrambled the episodes so anybody who did watch it would be confused since it is a story-driven show. Also, only 20 of the 53 episodes were actually on the app. The rest never even made it to the US. It was also only on the app for a short period of time which gave it absolutely no time to gain an audience. This low performance in the US resulted in the show being canceled due to the production company being massively disappointed with the show’s low performance in the US. Being Canadian, Detentionaire was one of my favorite cartoons, and still is. Every time I think of its cancellation, I can’t help but think that it deserved much much better. It makes it even worse that nobody knows the true story of Detentionaire. Detentionaire’s case was one of the worst cases of cartoons being screwed over if not the worst.
Detentionaire revolves around a high schooler named Lee who gets framed for the biggest prank in high school history, and gets a year of detention. He sets out to find out who framed him, but as he goes deeper into the mystery, he starts to discover secrets hidden deep beneath the school that could change the entire world as he knows it. As we get closer to finding out what is truly going on, Lee realizes he has a huge role to play in all of this. This series is truly amazing, and it is criminally underrated. My favorite thing about this series has to be the lore and how it gets increasingly more intense with each episode. Alongside that, I love the characters as they each feel like someone you would encounter in a regular high school, and I love the overall mystery. Detentionaire was an amazing series, and had it been given the right treatment, it would’ve been a hit.  You can watch Detentionaire on the YouTube channel Retro Rerun, or on Tubi!
These were definitely the worst cases of cartoons being screwed over   to me, but I am sure there are lots more like Detentionaire and Motorcity where they were screwed over to the point where they got swept under the radar and that I didn't even know about them. Which of these cartoons do you agree with? Which do you disagree with? Did I miss any? Did you discover any new ones? Feel free to discuss with me in the comments! And feel free to follow my Tumblr page as I post weekly blogs on cartoons!

What made you villainous, oh wise space horse?
They wanted a villain, so I gave them one!~
Heh. xD So this blog was originally a Wander Over Yonder and Steven Universe fandom blog, with my OC Zoyya the Zbornak as my mascot (zbornak are an horse/dinosaur-like alien creature from WOY)
And at the time I had another blog for all my Veggietales related art. This blog was called "Villainous-Villainy", based on a quote from the character Awful Alvin. That blog is deleted now, because I decided to just put all my fanart on one blog.
So basically I combined names of my two blogs

I started doodling to test out a new brush set I downloaded before I got into working on an art project for school, and these little darlings appeared. I think we all know what ship kids these are (if not, check the tags).
I decided later that the little chap on the right would look good with a helmet, and ended up giving his sister in the middle an uber-fancy scarf, too. Their other sister on the left was already perfect(ly adorable).
These little characters don't have names, and I don't know how much (if anything) I'll do with them in the future, but here's a little bit of information about each of them (under the cut)
The lovely little lass on the left is the closest to her mother in both build and colorscheme. She is a bit slimmer and shorter than an average zbornak, and, obviously, has her father's eye. The scarf was a gift from her father, and she almost never takes it off. She is both the youngest and shyest of the three siblings, and tends to be reserved and gentle. She still can and will protect others if she has to. She enjoys hanging out with "Uncle Wander", and is close with both of her parents.
The showy sister in the middle is the oldest of the three siblings. She is fairly lithe compared to the average zbornak, and has a far more humanoid frame and upright posture. While not exactly an attention-seeker, she is definitely the most extroverted of all her siblings. She enjoys large gatherings and has many friends. She won't wear a scarf unless it's incredibly stylish, much to her father's exasperation. She lost most of her right arm to a villain who invaded in the middle of a party she was attending. Both her parents were understandably furious, and, once they were done worrying about her, ground said villain and his entire empire into the dirt.
The chap on the right is the middle child, and the only boy among the three. He most clearly resembles his father, in both appearance and attire. Like his father, he wears the scarf as a protective necessity. While slightly taller than the average watchdog, he is significantly shorter than both of his siblings. He admires his father, but is somewhat closer to his mother. Since his father won't let him join the reformed Watchdog army (yet), he's aiming to go into bodyguarding or private security.

5 Underrated Cartoons That Were Cancelled Too Soon
1. Clone High
Tumblr media
Clone High is set in a high school in the fictional town of Exclamation, USA, that is secretly being run as an elaborate military experiment orchestrated by a government office called the Secret Board of Shadowy Figures. The school is entirely populated by the clones of famous historical figures that have been created and raised with the intent of having their various strengths and abilities harnessed by the United States military. The principal of the high school, Cinnamon J. Scudworth, has his own plans for the clones, and secretly tries to undermine the wishes of the Board (Scudworth wants to use the clones to create a clone-themed amusement park, dubbed "Cloney Island", a decidedly less evil intention than that of the Board). He is assisted by his robot butler/vice principal/dehumidifier, Mr. Butlertron (a parody of Mr. Belvedere), who is programmed to call everyone "Wesley" and speak in two distinct intonations.
The main protagonists of Clone High are the clones of Abraham Lincoln (referred to as "Abe"), Joan of Arc, and Mahatma Gandhi. Much of the plot of the show revolves around the attempts of Abe to woo the vain and promiscuous clone of Cleopatra, while being oblivious to the fact that his friend Joan of Arc is attracted to him. Meanwhile, John F. Kennedy's clone (referred to as "JFK"), a macho, narcissistic womanizer, is also attempting to win over Cleopatra and has a long-standing rivalry with Abe. Gandhi acts in many of the episodes as the comic relief. Also on a few occasions, the characters that we see learn most of "Life's Lessons" the hard way.
Why it was cancelled: An article in Maxim Magazine depicting Mahatma Gandhi being beaten up by a muscular man sparked outrage in India. Clone High was caught in a crossfire when citizens in the country conducted internet searches on the Maxim article but also found out about the show's Gandhi character on MTV's website. This sparked an outrage in India over the show's depiction of Gandhi. On January 30, 2003, the 55th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's assassination, approximately 150 protesters (including members of parliament) gathered in New Delhi and vowed to fast in response to Clone High. Tom Freston, the head of Viacom (owner of MTV), was visiting the network's India branch and was "trapped in the building", according to Miller. In 2014, he recalled that protestors "basically threatened that they'd revoke MTV's broadcasting license in India if they didn't take the show off the air". MTV offered a quick apology, stating that "Clone High was created and intended for an American audience", and "we recognize and respect that various cultures may view this programming differently, and we regret any offense taken by the content in the show". Miller would later recall that executives at MTV enjoyed the show, and asked for the duo to pitch a second season without Gandhi. Lord and Miller's two potential versions of a second season included one that made no mention of Gandhi's absence, and another that revealed that the character was, in fact, a clone of actor Gary Coleman all along, and the show continued as normal. "We pitched that, and it went up to the top at Viacom again and it got a big no," he remembered.

2. The Awesomes
Tumblr media
The show follows a group of superheroes who step in and replace the members of a legendary but disbanding superhero team. Under new leadership, The Awesomes attempt to put themselves back together in the face of intense media and government skepticism.
Why it was cancelled: On December 17, 2015, Hulu canceled The Awesomes after three seasons and did not renew it for a fourth season due to low ratings. The Awesomes was the first time Michael Tavera composed music for an adult animated series.

3. Invader Zim
Tumblr media
Zim dreams of greatness. Unfortunately, though, he's hopelessly inept as a space invader. Desperate to be rid of the annoying Zim, his planet's leaders send him on a mission to infiltrate Earth, providing him with leftover, cobbled-together equipment. To their consternation, Zim succeeds in setting up a base on Earth and infiltrating human culture, posing as a human child as he plots the planet's downfall. Only Zim's archnemesis, Dib, recognizes that Zim is an alien, and of course, nobody believes Dib's claims.
Why it was cancelled: On the subject of why Invader Zim was cancelled, creator of the show Jhonen Vasquez said, "I could go on and on with variations of the most fantastic reasons for why the show was cancelled, but in the end, even I couldn't give you the whole and accurate truth for why the show got pulled," he wrote in a lengthy post on his website in 2010, nearly eight years after the show wrapped. "The most likely culprits are simply ratings and the sheer expense of the show, which was monstrously expensive at the time, especially when compared to more modern, flash-based savings fests."Nearly nine years later in 2019, Vasquez was interviewed by Syfy and said:
I never point to any one particular thing [as the reason for why Invader Zim was cancelled. The show could've come out at any point in history and I don't think it would ever really be appropriate... I think there's always horrible things happening in the world and genuine comedy comes from horrible things. At the time, it just happened to be things like Columbine and 9/11 and then people freak out because they don't want to offend anyone's sensibilities. It's a justified response to a certain extent; there's people who have been affected and they don't want to be reminded of this awful stuff… I just think that it did not jive well with Nickelodeon's image.
In an interview with Syfy in 2018, Richard Horvitz, the voice of Zim, was questioned about why the show got cancelled; he responded:
There's been a lot of rumors that have abounded for years about why Invader Zim was canceled. People think it's the Bloody GIR episode, because there's a quick subliminal shot of GIR all bloodied, but that’s not it at all. Nickelodeon knew about that shot and they didn't seem to mind. But what [the cancellation really was] is this plain simple fact: We had horrible ratings. There were two things that were going on in 2001. Our ratings were not doing well, our demographic at the time was not The Fairly OddParents demographic, which is what we premiered with, and we premiered to really, really good critical acclaim. But ratings-wise, the only real barometer [was the] target audience, 6 to 10 year olds, and I think that it was a little too much for that [demographic], and the parents also might have thought it was a little graphic for them. Our ratings never really got off the ground. One other thing that people often forget, is that the show premiered in March of 2001. By September of 2001, we had the horrible downing of the twin towers. Given the mood of the country at the time, I don't think people wanted to see shows that were about any kind of destruction or anything that had to do with someone trying to conquer the Earth.

4. The Oblongs
Tumblr media
A clever comic parable of society's ills, "The Oblongs" depicts the warped world of a bizarre yet loving family of have-nots who live in a toxic valley and can't seem to beat the caste system of the beautiful people living high on the hill. The animated series is based on characters created by author Angus Oblong ("Creepy Susie and 13 Other Tragic Tales for Troubled Children").
Why it was cancelled: Could not find a specific answer. The WB network just decided to cancel it even though it had good ratings.
youtube
5. Wander Over Yonder
Tumblr media
The series follows Wander, a nomadic and overly-optimistic intergalactic traveller and his best friend and steed, Sylvia the Zbornak, as they travel from planet to planet helping people to have fun and live free, despite the continuing encroachment of Lord Hater, one of the most powerful villains in the galaxy, and his army of Watchdogs.
The show's first season is episodic; there are very few strong ties between episodes, and they can be viewed independently of each other. In the second season, however, a more sequential story is introduced; as Lord Dominator begins to conquer the galaxy, the show's tone becomes more serious and the focus moves from stopping the rather incompetent Lord Hater to stopping the extremely competent Lord Dominator. As a result, the episodes are more closely linked and there are several developments in the overarching plot.
Why it was cancelled: The creators of the show were not given a specific reason, even though they had plans for a third season.

Medea Plays Miitopia...AGAIN: Part I
Tumblr media
Miitopia!
Tumblr media
Starring: Medea as the Heroic Warrior and Imp
Tracey Sketchit as the Cleric
Marcus *last name withheld* as the Mage
Homer J. Simpson as the Chef
Washu Habuki as the Scientist
Michael Jackson as the Pop Star
And little Ike Broflovski as the Thief
Yeah, this is bringing me back to 2017. I enjoyed the hours crafting my miis to have them look as close to their actual character counterparts as humanly possible. This time, we all can get a little closer with the make-up and wig department.
Tumblr media
I mean, come on! Look at this.
In no way was I able to make Marilyn Manson look as spooky in the 2017 game as I can here.
As usual, you learn of weird anomalies happening around you like floating faces landing on plants, food, animals, etc. You head over to Greenhorne to meet the folks.
Tumblr media
I did the usual like I did in my old game like put in Dorothy Zbornak, Pam Poovey, and Randy Marsh. But I wanted to have this cute moment between Satoko and Rika before I go back to hating their relationship.
Higurashi Gou ruined me.
And I added Rick Sanchez as the sarcastic guy. Mostly so when his face gets stolen I can make the “Rocky Rick” joke.
Tumblr media
Pfft. Many of us made this joke back in 2017. Get on board newbies.
Oh and yes, I made this happen again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I will forever be a Victuri shipper and don’t you ever forget it.
My first-string comrades are the same as before.
Tumblr media
Tracey is always my first. He is top bae! He is top-tier bae!
Tumblr media
Followed up by Homer.
Tumblr media
And my real-life buddy, Marcus.
But it’s not just three, we get a horse. And yes, we can design it as we see fit. I did ponder for a bit what mine would look like and what I should call it.
Tumblr media
At first, I thought Isuzu after Rin from Fruits Basket. But then again, she isn’t really my favorite character on the show. Let’s go with option 2.
Tumblr media
Mmm...Better. I’ll save Galarian Ponyta for if I decide to do an all-Pokemon character version to the game.
Tumblr media
Bojack. Yes. We’re keeping Bojack.
And who knows? At the end of the game, Bojack could speak to us.
Tumblr media
Oh fuck, Bojack is speaking. BOJACK IS SPEAKING. This game is cursed by Horse Lucifer. Set fire to the barn.
Another addition are outing tickets. Before you would have to get lucky in the spinning game to earn a vacation ticket to help relationships. Now, you get these tickets to go to different places with your comrades including the library, theater, cafe, and so on.
Tumblr media
I went to the movies with Marcus.
Tumblr media
Washu and Michael went to the karaoke bar.
Tumblr media
Hell, you can even go on day trips with your horse companion.
All of us must band together to fight against the evil, corrupt, disgusting, cheeto-dusted...You already know it’s Trump.
Tumblr media
Yes, I still hate the real-life man on Celine Dion levels. And I still see him as a villain. Other than him and the villain at the very end, all of my characters are going to be ones I love.
Tumblr media
Like Spongebob!
Tumblr media
Crim from Interspecies Reviewers
Tumblr media
Butthead and Beavis
Tumblr media
Shizuo from Durarara
Tumblr media
And the rivalry between Ash and Gary over Misty’s heart.
Yes, my Pokeshipper heart will always pit Ash and Misty together. Up yours Amourshipping!
Tumblr media
As for this, I’m just laughing at this cock-eyed fight between Ash and Gary. This game is stupid-ass fun.
Tumblr media
As usual, save the kingdom, get Ash and Misty engaged, and Homer is so overcome with emotion.
Tumblr media
It’s time to take my harem of boy-toys to the next town and our next advent...
Tumblr media
Shit. The Inn..It’s...
Tumblr media
Yeah, just like before, you’ve got to start at 0 and your team is kidnapped.
Tumblr media
Dude, don’t say that. That sounds like Trump killed my friends and took them to the spirit world.
At least I still have Bojack with me. But time to add a new group.
Tumblr media
Like Washu from Tenchi Muyo.
Tumblr media
Michael Jackson. Sure he’s been dead for over 10 years, but it’s my game and I’ll add whomever I want.
Tumblr media
And Ike from South Park.
Let’s head on down to Neksdor to meet all the colorful characters there.
Tumblr media
I knew I was going to add one of the Love Live girls here eventually. She still does her Rubesty!
Tumblr media
Dude. DUDE. Seriously, what’s the age of consent in Neksdor?
Tumblr media
*snorts*
Shady doesn’t even begin to describe it.
Tumblr media
I’m probably going to be the only one showing Empire some love.
And finally...
Tumblr media
That’s all for now.
