Dumas was not ahead of his time in this particular case. tragic really. #oh also d'artagnan? he looks like the moustache guy from the looney tunes. i saw that post once years ago #and i havent been able to imagine him in my head as anything other than that #ever since. #but back to kronk and yzma. just look at them. she's even wearing purple aka the bishop colour. #im right. you know it. i know it. #le vicomte de bragellone #emperor's new groove

My everlasting love. ;) Aramis is my favourite character from The D’Artagnan Romances written by Dumas and has been so marvellously played by Richard Chamberlain. It’s a pity that the whole movie was a blasphemy compared with the great Three Muskeeters novels of Dumas.

Just the first few hundred pages alone of The Man in the Iron Mask are filled with powerful scenes that, in my opinion, lose their potency when not preceded by the nearly 2100 pages and 20+ in-universe years that are meant to be read before-hand. Jumping directly from Three Musketeers, or forgoing all previous stories entirely, does the compelling story present in Iron Mask a serious disservice.

Filter: 55% #Sierra. photo #Fujifilm: ©Dolci Fusa Ho finito la trilogia de "I tre moschettieri" e questo volume mi ha lasciato un po' l'amaro in bocca: nonostante la - quasi - scontata conclusione, il libro è totalmente incentrato sui meschini e riprovevoli intrighi di corte. Non c'è azione, non c'è verve, non ci sono nemmeno più i personaggi così come ce li fa amare Dumas nei primi due tomi: Aramis è diventato un faccendiere doppio e calcolatore; Porthos un energumeno tordellone, vittima della manipolazioni dei suoi amici; D'Artagnan è pure ambizioso e a tratti piaggiatore; Athos è l'unico che, bene o male, rimane fedele a se stesso. Ma soprattutto, mancano antagonisti del calibro di Richelieu e Milady, o persino di Mordaunt. Un tedio unico tra i patemi d'animo di Raul, le sciocche macchinazioni delle dame della corte, gli amori lascivi di questo o quello, nomi simili uno all'altro che si inseguono in noiosi maneggi senza fine per quasi 31 ore di audiolibro. Non dimentico il piacere dell'ascolto dei primi due, soprattutto in un periodo in cui mi serviva essere trasportata in altri tempi per non pensare ai recenti lutti felini, la prosa è superbamente recitata e ciò non è mancato neanche in questo epilogo, anche se con qualche intoppo audio di troppo. https://www.instagram.com/p/CF6l1sSHhR1/?igshid=16vk4a7s7ys3j

My sketch and also a tattoo design depicting my favourite Musketeer - Aramis. He is a truly fascinating fictional character. To be honest, I love him the most as the mysterious and charismatic Bishop of Vannes. Oh, yeah, that deliciously sneaky bastard and almost a villain! ❤ I admire his word duels with D’Artagnan. Feints within feints! ❤ In my opinion “Le Vicomte de Bragelonne” is truly the best novel of The D’Artagnan Romances set.
