Christmas Eve With You | Joel Pimentel (12th Day of 🎄)

We’ve come to the end of Alondra’s 12 Days of Christmas fics! I hope you’ve enjoyed my stories and I hope you have a happy holidays! Thank you! 💕

“Mi amor, what if they don’t like me?” Joel asked as we sat in his car in front of my parents’ house, not daring to go in just yet. “They’ll love you, Joel. I know they will.”

“But what if they say that I’m not good enough for you? Or don’t accept our relationship? What’s gonna happen – ” I leaned over and gave him a kiss. One, to shut him up and two to help calm him down. “Baby, por favor… trust me. They’re gonna love you.” He bit his lip and nodded. “I’m sorry. I guess I’m just nervous.”

“No, really?” I laughed and he smiled at me. “Oh shut up haha it’s just… you know I’ve never really been in a relationship, so you’re the first girl I’ve ever done this with and I’m just hoping it will go well.” I reached over and moved his hair away from his face. “I know and it’s okay to feel a little nervous. I know I’m gonna be when I meet your family tomorrow.” I laughed slightly and looked up at him. “I have a really good feeling about this, Joel.”

He gave me a smile and nodded his head once more. “Now, let’s go inside and let’s have some fun.”

He got out of his car, walked over to my side, opened the door for me and held out his hand. “Thank you, mi amor.” I took his hand in my own and got out of the car, turning around just to get the plate of food that we brought for the party. “Let’s go.”

We walked up to the front door and rang the doorbell. My sister was the one who greeted us at the door and gave us hugs. “You’re here!” I smiled. “Of course I’m here! I wouldn’t miss this for the world.” She turned her attention to Joel and raised her eyebrow. “So you’re the one my sister won’t shut up about.” She stated. “Oh shush!” I commented as he laughed. “I guess I am.” He smiled as she turned her head and yelled out. “Mamá! (Y/N) está aqui con su novio!” She opened the door more so we could get in. “Come on in! We’re about to get ready to eat really soon.”

We walked in and was immediately greeted by my mom. “Hey mija! You’re home!” She grabbed the plate from my hands and placed it on a table so she could engulf me in a hug. “I’ve missed you mamá.” We pulled away as she now looked at the boy I love behind me. “Oh, and who’s this?” She smiled. “Um hi I’m Joel.” He stuck out his hand for her to shake as she did just that.

“It’s nice to finally put a face to (Y/N)’s boyfriend.” He smiled and looked around. “You have such a lovely home.” I felt someone mess up my hair behind me, so I turned and saw my brother standing there.

“Hey buttface.”

“Hey numnuts.”

He smiled at me and gave me a hug. “You know, it was much more quieter before you walked in.”

“I forgot I have to deal with your ass for the remainder of the night.” We pulled away and he saw Joel talking to my mother. “So… is that him?” He asked and I nodded. “Good. I’m gonna go interrogate him now.” I slapped his arm. “Bitch, you better not.”

“I gotta get intel for dad. I’ll be back in a bit.” He laughed and pushed passed me before I could stop him.

“Hey.” He came up to him and stood face to face with Joel. “Hi.”

“I’m the brother.”

“I��m the boyfriend.”

They shook hands and he began his questioning. “I just wanna ask a few questions, if you don’t mind and don’t worry, they’re not bad.” He laughed as Joel laughed along with him. “By all means, ask away.” He smiled. “So, I hear that you’re in a band.” Joel nodded as he waited for him to continue. “That being said, how does the long distant relationship thing work?”

“Well, it’s not easy but when you love someone, you have to make it work no matter what because in the end, it’ll be worth it. It’s just a matter of not giving up on each other.” He nodded his head as he looked at Joel. “Good answer... any brothers? Sisters?”

“I have three brothers - Israel, Emanuel and Gabriel.” He stated. “Has (Y/N) met your family yet?” He shook his head. “We’re actually gonna meet them tomorrow. It’ll be her first time meeting my family.”

“Oh, really?” He nodded. “She’s nervous, but I know they’re gonna love her.”

“Hmm..” My brother nodded his head. “You know, you’re not so bad, Joel.” He smiled. “Hey, what kind of games do you play?”

“Um.. I’m down for whatever.” He patted Joel on the shoulder. “Cool, ‘cause I got an extra controller if you’re down to play on the PS4? Me and a few of my cousins are gonna play later on tonight. You down to hang?” Joel nodded and smiled. “Sure, man. Just tell me when and I’ll be there.”

“Get ready to have your ass handed to you.” My brother chuckled. “Is that a challenge?” He nodded. “You bet.”

“Alright. Game on.” They talked for a few minutes more before Joel followed me to the kitchen. “What did I miss?” I asked him. “Nothing much. Just the fact that your brother asked some very interesting questions.”

“Oh, boy. How did it go?”

“I swear, I damn near had a heart attack when he was asking me these questions.” Joel chuckled. “But I think it went alright.” He smiled. “He even invited me to play some games with him later on.”

“My brother is always up for a game to play. He’s really competitive, so be prepared haha,” I laughed and walked into the kitchen.

“Aahh! (Y/N)!” Mi abuela spoke as she gave me a hug. “Hola, abuela! No te he visto en mucho tiempo.” We pulled away and she noticed Joel standing next to me. “Abuela, hay alguien que quiero que conozcas..” I mentioned over to Joel. “Este es Joel, mi novio.”

“Hola, señora.” He smiled at her and they both shook hands. “Yo e escuchado mucho de ti porqué (Y/N) no se calla la boca nunca.” She spoke.

“Abuela!” I laughed as Joel’s cheeks turned a light shade of pink. “Y eso es la verdad, mija!” Joel y mi abuela talked for a few more minutes before my dad, my brother and mi abuelo all walked into the kitchen.

“Joel, right?” My dad asked as Joel slightly gulped. “Um yes sir, that’s me.” He held out his hand shook hands with all of them. “Welcome to our home.” My dad gave him a smile. “Thank you, it’s an honor to finally meet you all.”

After a few minutes of my father wanting to get to know Joel better, it was getting closer to dinner time. “Todos ven y siéntate a la mesa, es hora de comer.” My mom spoke I was helping her set up the table. We all gathered around and sat down. “Okay, mi amor, would you like to do the honors?” My mom asked my dad and he nodded, clearing his throat.

“Alright, hey uh gracias a todos por venir esta noche. I know everyone can get really busy during the holidays, but Christmas is the time to spend with those who mean the most to you and who are always going to be there for you. It’s a time to give thanks and spend time with loved ones. So again, thank you to everyone who’s here and.. let’s feast.”

Everyone raised up their drinks and said “Salud.”

Everyone dug into their foods and talk amongst each other. “So Joel, (Y/N) tells me that you’re in a band.” My cousin spoke as he nodded. “I am.”

“Will you be singing us a song later on tonight?” She asked as he laughed. “Um.. I wasn’t really planning to, but if that’s what you want, then I’ll be more than happy to give a little performance.”

After eating, we all played a game. It’s a classic always played at my house during the holidays – ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas ornament exchange. Mi Tia would read the story and every time she said “right” or “left”, that’s the direction we would pass the ornament to the person on our side. Our house was filled with laughter and people joking around when someone would mess up.

Eventually, it was almost time to go. Mi abuela y abuelo called Joel over to the side to talk to him before we go on our way. “Mijo, ven aquí por favor..” He walked over to them and they spoke once again.

“I know it’s not easy going to other families houses for the holiday’s..” mi abuela spoke, but you could still hear her Spanish accent. “Pero quiero decir gracias.. por hacerla felíz.”

“Ella me hace felíz. Yo estoy tan felíz de tener la oportunidad de conocerla a ella y a su maravillosa familia.” Joel smiled as mi abuela reached over and grabbed onto his hand. “Eres buena para ella.” Mi abuelo spoke as he looked at Joel. “Amala, cuidalla y protegerla bien, mijo.”

He glanced over at me as I was saying bye to my mom and dad and nodded. “Okay, now go.” He waved him off as Joel held a smile on his face and walked closer to me. “Hey, you ready to leave?” I asked him and he nodded once again. “It was a pleasure meeting you and thank you so much for the invite.” Joel spoke.

“It was wonderful to meet you too, Joel. We hope to see you again soon!” My dad walked up and shook his hand. “You guys drive safe, okay?” We nodded, waved bye to everyone and made our way to the car. “Did you have fun?” I asked him and he laughed. “I did.”

“See? It wasn’t that hard, was it?” He shook his head and put the key into the ignition. “No, it wasn’t that hard.” I strapped my seatbelt in as he started to back up.

“Now, tomorrow, you’re gonna meet my family.” He smiled and started driving away.

“Oh, don’t remind me.”

“There’s nothing to be nervous about. You’re gonna love you.” I turned and smiled at him. “Trust me.”

Hello all and welcome to part 4 of my playthrough of KH2 on the PS2. If you haven't seen the previous entries please go do that.

To recap: The Wonders of Twilight Town are boring as hell. We spoke to Namine again, Roxas finally realizes his life this week is a lie and starts to remember his life in the Organization. DiZ is racist against Nobodies but we already knew that. Roxas and Axel fight, I wanted to cry. Roxas meets Sora in his sleeping pod before disappearing, I wanted to cry.

And the adventure continues

I wanna know how Sora wakes up in the real world when Roxas merges with him in the virtual one. How in CoM does Sora go to sleep in Castle Oblivion, the whole-ass chamber and then some get transferred to Twilight Town, Roxas meets him in a virtual version of the mansion, and Sora wakes up in the real mansion in KH2? Nomura please explain this series. Is Final Fantasy ever this convoluted?

Donald and Goofy call out to Sora and we're once again reminded this is a Disney game. I don’t know why but the fact that Disney owns the original Kingdom Hearts characters bothers me. It means, unless DISNEY gives the OK, Sora will never be in Smash Bros. and that makes me sad.

I don't know much about comas but after a year of total inactivity, wouldn't your muscles atrophy like, A BUNCH? At least is wasn’t 7... OR VENTUS WITH A WHOLE DECADE WTF?

Again WHY COULDN'T JIMINY JUST KEEP EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED IN CHAIN OF MEMORIES WRITTEN DOWN IN HIS JOURNAL INSTEAD OF A CRYPTIC MEMO TO THANK NAMINE?

The trinity trio wanders out of the mansion, loot some chests, and find their way to the back alleys of town.

Hayner is rude RIGHT outta the gate, wow. Ok I remember that Pence actually met Roxas in Days, and so to me he seems to recognize Sora through his memories of Roxas despite the two sharing like, one visual similarly: blue eyes. But KH3 to my understanding reveals that the virtual versions of characters affect the real version so I dunno!! WHAT IS THIS SERIES?

"Have you finished the summer homework yet?" Olette asks Sora and his two ANIMAL COMPANIONS as if seeing two anthropomorphic animals is fucking normal in a town comprised entirely of humans and exactly one moogle.

Sora doesn't have any homework. For over a year he's been away from home and his mom couldn't make him go to school. I wonder how she's doing? Does she miss her son? Kingdom Hearts and parents don't gel.

I like how.. When Pence describes this cloaked figure who was looking for the trinity trio, as having big, round ears, they have to think about who it could possibly be. They’re not too bright.

Why is “sofa” capitalized? Also they weren't even sitting on it, neither of them were!

HAYNER IS A RUDE BOY! He tells us so ask Seifer about the town, as we are new. Bruh, if you’re this rude to us I’m sure how much worse Seifer and his posse are.

Seifer is immediately confrontational. “You here to pick a fight with us?” and Sora’s all like “No, we’re new here.” and DONALD FUCKING DUCK! INSULTS SEIFER AND NOW EVERYONE’S READY TO THROW DOWN! THANKS TO THIS DUMB FUCK DUCK!

But thank Christ big chungus appears out of nowhere and stops the children and two adult furries from causing a scene.

This dude is WAY too into the Struggle tournament. Seifer has an unwanted faaaaan! Bro, go away, you’re creeping on a teenager.

I wanna fight Seifer.

I'm not working on this like I should be. I'm going on vacation soon and since we're all in quarantine I can't really do anything fun so this is the opportune time to catch up.

Moving on! We make our way to the train station and oh no, we're ambushed by Dusks! Because of COURSE we are. Who could've seen THAT coming? /s

I- I like how, even after hearing his voice, and seeing his fucking mousey silhouette, the gang STILL might not be sure this is their stupid rat king. One brain cell between the three of them, I swear, and Goofy is the primary carrier, and it only sometimes works.

Why do we need to purchase tickets to travel on a magical train embarking to an ethereal plane of existence? I guess it's the principal of it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's fat cat Pete. For like ever, I had no idea he was a cat. Wonder what Maleficent saw in him to ally with him.

The trinity trio laughing about killing (or at least taking part in killing) Maleficent. "She's toast!" this sure is early 2000's dialogue...

Heartless everywhere! "You mean the worlds aren't at peace after all" well, no sweetie. It takes time for things to recover from horrible events. *looks at current state of the real world*

So like, I had no idea Yen Sid was a Keyblade warrior??? I had read about that in his Wiki page when I googled if any Keyblade warriors were left handed. (Ven might be, but more likely ambidextrous) But I guess being Mickey's teacher would imply his Keyblade wielder roots but whatever, I didn't pay attention when I was a teenager.

Yen Sid's decor is baffling. What are these bookshelves? What are these BOOKS? They're huge!

Good on Yen Sid for using singular “they” pronouns in 2005.

On to our change of wardrobe. Without a doubt Sora's best look in the whole series, in my humble opinion. Lookit my handsome boy.

And Sora learns about drive forms, blah, blah, blah, powerful forms, gotta sacrifice something like in Duel Monsters, in this case an ally.

Yen Sid is so boring.

All seriousness and tension is just broken as soon as Goofy’s name is uttered, at least Sora and Donald have normal names wtf.

It’s interesting how like, 15 years later, Union X explains how Maleficent was able to return after her defeat. Something about, as long as someone from your original time remembers you and you have a physical object to represent you you’re able to basically some back from the dead. Right? Am I right on that? I haven’t played it but I’m hanging by a thread on this loop.

Sora’s hard work down the drain...

Hollow Bastion! And of course there’s trouble. Heartless, Nobodies, and Yuffie, oh my!

A problem sequels have to work around is when the protagonist needs to relearn their abilities. KH does a well and good job with this one. In CoM, it’s a different battle style, in KH2 Sora’s been asleep for a hear prior.

Also, Merlin “leant” Sora some magic spells? How does that work? Like, once you learn it you can’t just... give that knowledge back...?

How old is Leon? He has no right being this pretty.

Another ambush by Nobodies. Give it a rest, would ya? Battle ensues, Leon deals the final blow against an enemy, and as the camera usually does, zooms in on the victor and we get a nice slow-mo crotch shot of Leon. Thanks, game... Then, Xemnas’s very sexy, very manly voice echoes across town and the organization appears before our protagonists. I’m weak.

Demyx’s laugh, dude. I love it. Sora is ready to throw hands with anyone in his way. Honey, you’re barely out of a magic coma and this dude is like, two whole feet taller than you. Not to mention very fit.

I’m done thirsting over Xemnas...

After a few taunting words, the new villains depart, Donald attempts to give chase somehow? Where you gonna go? They disappeared behind dark corridors. It seems Goofy is still holding onto that shared brain cell.

The Bastard

I like the majority of the Organization. Xigbar is definitely one of my favorites based on this next scene alone. He’s so snarky and full of shit. I love it. He’s great. He was definitely a stoner at some point.

I’m confused though. “He used to give me that same exact look!” the Wiki says Xigbar’s talking about Ven but I always thought he was referring to Roxas? Did Braig and Ven have a history? That’s implied in Days (which released before BbS) IDK dude. I’m surprised I’ve gone this long without spoiling myself too much on BbS. Like, a few story beats here and there but a lot of it isn’t gonna be known until I play it.

The dialogue for KH2 was so different from the first game. It dates itself so much in comparison.

Xiggy stands like this for 7 whole seconds parting with a condescending “Be a good boy now!” before disappearing. I love this fucker.

Leon, who’s been sitting on the sidelines this whole time, joins Sora and the others after the real threat is gone. We chitchat for a little bit and say our goodbyes. It’s time to leave this place and move on to one of two available worlds.

At the Beast's Castle. After fighting a hoard of Shadows, the least intimidating enemy in the series (although the demon tower in kh3 is quite frightening nlg), the Beast himself makes his appearance, takes out the Heartless that suddenly stop multiplying upon his arrival, disgracefully shoves his supposed friends aside, and takes his precious rose to the west wing, which is where it SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FIRST PLACE. ADAM WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!

No joke one of the funniest actual gags in the whole series is:

Cut to Sora saying "I'm glad you're OK." to Lumiere

OK the minigame where you gotta light the magic torches, why do we have to make sure Cogsworth has enough strength to keep the lever down when we have two perfectly capable companions that can hold it down instead? I remember this sequence being a lot more annoying when I was a teen.

Xaldin's voice makes me feel things. Ahhh he sounds so tired lol. He peaces out and we fight the Beast. I remember getting him to calm down being harder.

"Xaldin used my anger to control me!" Says Beast. He angers very easily so this must have been a cinch. Xaldin's been obsessed with him since Days so I would imagine this intel would come in handy.

More fodder to fight and on to the boss. Phase one is just an angrier version of the Darkball Heartless. Phase two is just skinny Ganon. I like its design though.

“Belle, I’m sorry. I wasn’t myself, being all rude and overall kind of a jackass to you and my servants” Except that’s kinda how you’ve always been lmao. Just because you couldn’t choose not to be an ass here doesn’t change that this IS in character. Still gotta work on that a bit.

“You don’t have to apologize” No, no he still does.

They all reconcile and the Trinity Trio departs until Xaldin shows up again to wreak more havoc.

Time to move on to the next world.

A sort of KH3 review.. thing

Well dang that was a wild ride wasn’t it? It’s been about 2/3 weeks since I finished the game (took me 5 days which is record time for me considering it was a pretty big game) so I’ll try my best to condense my thoughts on it below

Please note this is my opinion so you may agree or disagree with me on some parts and that’s totally fine!

And it’s gonna be long

Alright let’s get the bad out of the way:

-The pacing

I’m not the first and I definitely won’t be the last to complain about the goddamn pacing. Kingdom Hearts in general is pretty bad when it comes to a well balanced pace and this was the same. Everything felt rushed and crammed towards the end with it feeling like ‘quick let’s wrap this up ASAP!’.

It was literally Disney world after world with bits of important story in between and then the actual plot of saving everyone kicked in and probably made up of about 3 hours of the whole game. It could have been better if we’d have rescued Aqua and Ven earlier then towards the end save Roxas, Xion and Terra (and Namine) but nah.

Even the ending itself felt rushed and half assed at times. We didn’t get to see Sora save Kairi it was just Keyblade Graveyard ending- everyone being happy at the beach- credits. That was... kinda dumb? Also when you’re wrapping up a 17 year old saga you don’t tend to end it like that. You know what I’m talking about.

-Characters

They gone did Kairi dirty again. AGAIN. How many times are we gonna do this? My poor girl got shafted right at the end just to fuel Sora’s anger and then didn’t explain how she got back to the islands anyway but who fucking cares y’know.

She was hyped up after being confirmed to be a guardian of light and in training with Lea and they did fuck all with it. It’s like you’re so excited to see Santa and you get up on his knee to ask what present you want this Christmas only for Santa to laugh and smack you in the face.

I could go on and on about Kairi but I’d probably be saying what everyone else has already said. I was expecting more character interactions ie the famous Roxas and Ven one we’ve been looking forward to for years but we got a funny glance and that’s it. Again, probably due to pacing but there was so much potential for some great new friendships to blossom and they just... didn’t.

-Worlds

Ok this is mainly Twilight Town being so teenie weenie. Come on, in KH2 we had TT, Hollow Bastion, TWTNW, Yen Sid’s Tower but for 3? Two sections of TT that’ll do. ??? Why??? It looked gorgeous and I couldn’t wait to explore the whole town but for some reason we were reduced to it being two rooms. Also missed out a good opportunity to have RG playable again but nah.

I get the feeling Disney we’re very pushy with this title? Like they had more input than usual and Square couldn’t really argue with them which would explain why the OG worlds were kinda dull? Idk I hope they learn to butt out a little and let Square do their thing. I’m not saying get rid of Disney god no. I just think there needs to be less Disney and more OG in the next title.

Alright the good stuff now!

- The graphics

Holy shit this game was BEAUTIFUL

Everything was gorgeous to look at and Unreal Engine made all the worlds look unique and specific to their Disney world. Like o can’t fault how this game looks it’s just that pretty

-Voice acting

Hayley, Hayley my man you did fantastic. I was getting worried that he’d sound off like in DDD but the man delivered. Everything was spot on and his emotions came across so much better? That scream? The crying?? The joy?? Beautiful. And Vanitas sounded so goddamn evil and Hayley sounded like he was having a blast voicing him 👌

Jesse did amazing as always with Roxas and Ven making them sound different. Just wish they coulda talked to each other xD I really liked Alyson’s Kairi too! I miss Hayden but for the most part Alyson pulled it off great along with Xion.

Like everyone sounded so much better I could go on and on. Can’t really fault much of the voice acting tbh. Xehanort grew on me but Nimoy will always be the better Nort

-Minigames/side quests

I absolutely SUCK at the cooking mini game but I still found it loads of fun. The only one I could do properly was the salt and pepper shaker one 😅 The 100 Acre Wood stuff was very samey samey but still cute and fun regardless.

I only did one flan mini game (the one in Toy Box) and that was awesome too! Hunting for ingredients and lucky emblems was tricky in parts but I loved the satisfaction when you finally find the damn thing! They were just a nice little touch and even though I only got 17 out of 90 I enjoyed looking for them.

Also that Tangled dancing game. My FAV IDK HOW MANY TIMES I’VE PLAYED THAT ITS JUST SO WHOLESOME AND GOOD

-Attraction Flow

LOVED this gimmick. What can I say I absolutely love Disneyland and being able to use the rides to fight in battle was a blast. I especially loved the mad tea cups (“Bring it in!”) and the pirate ship they were loads of fun :D shame I only got to use Thunder Mountain twice because it’s one of my favourite rides xD

-The gummi phone

Who doesn’t love this. Finally I can take selfies with Disney characters! It was so cute I’m glad they added it. I’m definitely gonna use it more on my next gameplay at inappropriate times during the final battles 🌚

-Final battles

Being able to fight alongside Riku, Mickey, Aqua, Ven, Kairi, Lea, Roxas and Xion was at the top of my wish list for 3 and it finally happened ;-; Ok we’re with Kairi and Lea for two minutes but I ENJOYED THOSE TWO MINUTES. Kairi actually does some decent damage too so she can fight. You did amazing sweetie. And how OP is Roxas? You can just sit back and let him do all the work while you and Xion chill out. Granted they weren’t difficult bosses but I don’t care I got to fight with my sons and daughters by my side <3

I’m nearly done now promise. Just wanna say my favourite worlds ❤️

Corona: Gorgeous and (mostly) tranquil. Rapunzel and Eugene make great partners and the hair swing thing was awesome to jump to different areas. Also the little quests with Rapunzel were adorable and made the world feel more alive.

Monstropolis: I think what made this world for me were the character interactions and the music. The world itself was just inside the factory but the way everyone played off each other and dealt with Vanitas at the end was amazing. And Sora doing his funny face again. You little treasure <3

Toy Box: YOU. ARE. A. TOYYYYYY. Everything was so gigantic and interactive and gsjsksksla it was just loads of fun! Loved Woody and Buzz as partners and the whole world was such a treat- nothing like we’ve ever had in a KH game before. Can we also talk about Woody absolutely wrecking Xehanort though? Iconic.

Well I think that’ll do me for now. Overall I’d give it an 8.5/10 with the major issues being plot pacing and lack of character development. Also the camera sometimes did this weird thing in attraction flow mode where it’d just zoom into a rock or a tree :/ I really enjoyed KH3 despite its flaws and what was done well was done really well

Maybe get some more new writers and let Square properly take the reins for the next one yeah? And let Kairi finally have her time to shine. You’ve set up a rescue mission after all, Square 👀

I love how Xehanort knows that he's beaten, and doesn't try to fight it. He goes down with decorum. Nicely done. He put up a fair fight, and killed me about 30 or 40 times, but it was a fair fight. Its interesting. I didn't expect it to turn about this way.

WHY ARE THESE DEATH SCENES SO EMOTIONAL?!

And with that, Kingdom Hearts is sealed. Hopefully for good this time... it's kinda beautiful.

Even though the game might be over, the story isn't. Not by a long shot. And I can't wait to see what happens next. There were a lot of question left unanswered, such as with the card that Sora got from Luxord... what happened with that one cutscene between Even and Demyx... WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO SORA. And how Kairi got back. And the secret ending only brings up more questions about what’s going on. But either way...

I can only hope that our boy returns home.

“I’m just saying, maybe we should think about this more?” Jack asked one of her partners, “I mean, we had to pull teeth just to get married. Should we go straight into getting a kid so soon?”

“Jack, I know you mean well, but shut the hell up,” Geoff chuckled, slicing a cucumber and putting it in a pot. “We all agreed that we wanted to adopt a kid. You don’t have to worry, we’ll figure it all out.”

“I just worry, Geoff. What with our... pasts...” She trailed off.

“Hey, we left Los Santos years ago. We’re in an entirely different country; no one from our past is going to come for us. We’re safe.”

“I don’t know, Geoff. There’s just a lot of uncertainty.”

“I swear on my life that things will work out. Have I ever led you astray before?”

“How long do you want to sit here?” Jack joked. Geoff turned and playfully glared at her.

“Watch it, Pattillo. I used to be the leader of the strongest crew in Los Santos.” He smirked at her, and she rolled her eyes back at him.

“And it was me who saved your ass on many occasions.”

“Really? I don’t recall.”

“Do you need me to make a list? I don’t think there’s enough paper in the world for that.”

“Shut up and help me peel these potatoes.”

Jack laughed and walked over to her husband, helping him with dinner.

It had been 5 years since they lived as the Fake AH Crew, 5 years since they faked their own deaths and moved to France. Jack, Geoff, Ryan, Michael, Jeremy, and Gavin all managed to fall in love during their time together, and they wanted out of the gang life so that they could live long, happy lives with each other. Geoff spent years using his connections to get them all legally married, and now they were moving on to the next step: adopting a kid.

“When are Ryan and the lads getting back from the store?” Geoff asked just as the door to their cottage opened. The four men came inside, holding an ungodly amount of bags.

“Sorry we’re late, Jeremy here got sidetracked at a pet store, and We had to stop him from adopting two of the cats.” Ryan chuckled.

“They were so cute! Can you blame me?”

“You know Gav’s allergic to cats, Jer. Wouldn’t have worked out.” Jack laughed, rushing over and grabbing some of the bags and helping to put things away.

“As soon as I find a good sphinx cat, that shit is mine. I’m getting a god damn cat, especially since we’re getting a kid. They gotta have something to play with.”

“Did we decide if we were going to adopt locally or go back to the states?” Michael asked.

“Actually,” Geoff started, “I was thinking that we could go adopt a kid from Los Santos.”

Everyone stared at him in silence, all with varying expressions on their faces. It was Jack who spoke up first.

“Geoff, adopting from Los Santos may be the most dangerous thing we could possibly do. According to almost anyone there, we’re dead.”

“Exactly, which is why we won’t be going as ourselves.” Geoff explained. “I’ve pulled some strings at the orphanage in Los Santos, and we’ll be able to safely go and get our new little one. They don’t know it’s actually us, but I... requested that this be on the down low. Money buys a lot of things, you know.”

“So, we’ll be disguised?” Gavin asked. Geoff nodded.

“Disguised in every sense of the word, other than physically. We won’t be there for more than two days; I figured that would be enough time to find a kid. We’re booked at a hotel about an hour from the city, so don’t worry about that.”

“So when are we leaving?” Jeremy asked.

“Tomorrow morning.”

“I have a horrible feeling about this, honey.” Jack muttered into Geoff’s ear as they all piled into a rental car.

“Relax, Jackie. It’s going to be fine. You know where the orphanage is, Haywood?”

“Yep, should be there in about 15 minutes.” Ryan responded. Geoff nodded and grabbed Jacks hand.

“I know you’re worried for our safety, Jack, and I understand. But please know that I took every precaution known to man to ensure that we all leave safely with our new son or daughter. Nothing is going to happen.”

They all sat in silence the rest of the way, all of them praying to every deity known to mankind that Geoff didn’t just jinx them. As they pulled up to the orphanage, Jack immediately recognized the area and harshly slapped Geoff on the arm.

“Geoff! This is like 2 blocks from the penthouse!” She cried out. Jeremy, Michael, Gavin, and Ryan all looked around in alarm. It was true; they could see their old home from where they were parked.

“Listen, it’s fine. Nothing is going to go wrong. Now, let’s all quickly but calmly walk into the orphanage and get our new kid, and then we’re getting the fuck out of here.”

They all did as Geoff said, and rushed into the orphanage. They were decently shocked at who they saw when they walked in.

“Mica?!” Jack yelped, rushing up and giving her a hug.

“Holy shit, you’re back! You’re actually back!” Mica said excitedly, returning the hug.

“Just for a few days at most, Mica.” Geoff clarified. “Also, why do you work at an orphanage?”

“Hey, we gotta make a living somehow since you guys ‘died’.” She stated, putting quotation marks around the died. “Holy shit, Kdin! get in here!” She called out.

“What have I told you about cursing in front of the little ones?” Kdin scolded as she walked into the room. She widened her eyes and ran straight for Jack. “You’re back!”

“Hey, Kdin, how are you?” Jack giggled, hugging her friend tightly. After around 15 minutes of Kdin and Mica asking every possible question known to mankind, Geoff finally got everyone talking about why they were there.

“We want to adopt a kid, and I thought that if we could save even one kid from this shithole, we should.” He explained. Mica clapped happily.

“Of course! Come on in and meet the little ones! Oh, Geoff, theres a little girl that you’ll just love...”

The fakes wondered around the large home, meeting each and every kid they could. Jack, not surprisingly, bonded easily with the little ones. She played with as many as she could as she made her way through the house. Michael and Gavin bonded easily with a specific kid who had an affinity for fighting anyone in his line of sight (Gavin would never admit it, but the kid had a pretty good hit). Ryan and Jeremy stood awkwardly to the side, watching kids run around them. Neither of them really knew what to do. One kid, a little girl, walked up to Jeremy.

“You’re short.” She pointed out. Jeremy grumbled in response. The kid shrugged her shoulders and ran away, chasing after her friend.

Mica led Geoff upstairs to the nursery, where there were three infants, all asleep.

“Their parents left them on our doorstep. Issac and Jamie had notes, but this little one didn’t.” Mica said sadly, bringing Geoff to the small crib. The child was probably only a few weeks old at most, maybe a month, but she looked pretty healthy for her small size.

“What’s her name?”

“Erica.” A voice said from behind them. Geoff turned to see a little boy, around 9 or 10 years old.

“Erica?” Mica asked, perplexed. “How do you know her name is Erica? I’m not even too sure we gave her a name yet...”

“Because that’s what she smiles at when I play with her.” The boy said quietly. Geoff turned and squatted down to get on eye level with the boy.

“Hey, I’m Geoff. What’s you’re name?” He asked, giving the boy a warm smile.

“I’m Sean. Are you gonna adopt Erica? ‘Cause if you are, you gotta know all the things she likes, and I’m the only person who knows what those are.” Sean told him. Geoff sat down on the floor, confusing Mica a bit.

“Well, what does she like?” Geoff asked. Sean looked shocked, like he wasn’t actually expecting to be asked.

Sean told him all the little things that Erica liked, such as toys and funny faces. Mica quickly left the room to get the others so that they all could meet Sean, already seeing a bond forming.

“Wow, you got a huge family. Erica is gonna love it. She loves bein’ with people.” Sean told them with wide eyes as the Fakes all piled into the room. “I’m Sean, by the way. You guys better be nice to Erica, ‘cause she’s the only family I got, ‘ven if we aren’t really brother and sister.”

“What do you like to do, Sean?” Jack asked him kindly. Sean looked taken aback.

“Oh, uh, I really like to draw things. Sometimes Ms. Kdin’ll sneak me some drawin’ stuff so that the other kids won’t mess with it.”

“You like any video games?” Michael asked him.

“I’ve don’t really get to play ‘em myself, but when I was on the streets I’d see some people in the arcade playin different things. One time, someone had a game with a guy in a green dress on it, and I really liked that one.”

“Legend of Zelda?” Michael perked up a bit. Sean nodded.

“Yeah! I wanna play it myself someday, it looked like a lot of fun”

“Hey Sean, why don’t you go get some of your art to show us, hm? I’d love to see it.” Geoff asked. Sean nodded excitedly and ran out to get his drawings. “Alright, so I think Sean and Erica are our kids.”

“Geoff, we’ve been here for 10 minutes-“ Jack started, but Geoff interrupted her.

“I know, but you guys have to have felt the connection. That is the sweetest little boy, and Erica is the sweetest little girl. We can’t take one without the other, because that would just be cruel. I really think Sean and Erica are our kids.”

“I agree.” Michael spoke up. “Sean’s got a fire in him. He’d be perfect for us.”

“I like the kid. I think he likes us, too. I say we go for it.” Jeremy added. Ryan and Gavin nodded in agreement. They all then turned their attention to Jack.

“Well?” Geoff asked, hopeful. It didn’t take long for Jack to respond.

“I guess we have two kids to adopt, then.” She smiled.

“Why don’t some of you take Sean out, get him a burger or something? He doesn’t get to leave here much, and I’m sure he’d love to see some of the city.”

Jack was just about to protest before Ryan spoke up. “I’ll take the kid. No one in this city has ever seen my face and lived to tell the tale, so there’s no way I’ll be recognized.”

“You sure?” Jack asked hesitantly. Ryan nodded in response, and soon found himself holding the kids hand as they walked around the city, looking for something to do.

“Y’know, it’s pretty mean to take me out like this without adopting me.” Sean said as they were walking into an ice cream shop. Ryan looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

“Oh? How so?” He questioned, curious.

“You’re just gonna give me hope before pickin’ someone else. It’s happened before.” Sean mumbled, walking up to the counter. “What am I allowed to get?”

“Anything you want, kid.” Ryan responded. Sean turned and looked at him with wide eyes.

“Really? Usually the people who take me out only let me get the borin’ stuff. Thank you Mr. Ryan!” Sean said brightly. Ryan simply smiled as the boy ordered, but his smile soon fell as he heard a familier voice in the shop.

“No, you moron, they’re dead. Of course they aren’t in the city.” Burnie Burn’s voice rang clear as day. Ryan stiffened, but didn’t dare look around.

“I got a sundae!” Sean cheered.

“Nice choice. Why don’t we head on back now? It is starting to get late...” Ryan trailed off, not even waiting to hear a response. He felt bad hearing Sean’s sad groans of protest, but he kept them moving. If someone saw them, they needed to leave. Quickly.

“Ryan, you were gon for like 20 minutes. What’s the problem?” Geoff asked as the two came back inside the building.

“Someone saw us. I heard Burns while we were getting ice cream; he doesn’t believe we’re alive, but someone did see us. We need to leave tonight.” Ryan said quietly, though loud enough so both Mica and Geoff could hear. Mica nodded and immediately turned her attention to Sean.

“Go pack up your things, Sean, you and Erica are going home today.” She smiled at Sean’s wide eyes.

“You... you don’t mean...” He trailed off, looking at Geoff with hopeful eyes, who smiled back at him.

“You’re coming home with us.” She said gently, full of love. Sean all hit squealed as he rushed upstairs to pack, ready to move in with his new family.

After a bit of rushing and hasty goodbyes, the former-fakes found themselves on a plane again, getting the hell away from Los Santos, with two extra passengers.

“I ain’t ever been on a plane before.” Sean said excitedly to Jack, who was sat next to him. “We’re so high up!”

“You really are the perfect kid for us. How’d we get so lucky?” Jack thought out loud, causing Sean to blush. He turned around to look at Jeremy, who had headphones in. Sean snapped to get his attention, and Jeremy looked up.

“So where’re we goin’ anyway?” He asked. Jeremy popped his headphones out.

“France, little guy. The six of us have a nice house on the countryside.”

“France? Where’s that?” Sean asked.

“Europe. It’s across the whole ocean; i’ll be sure to point it out to you once we get to the ocean.” Jeremy smiled and Sean smiled back. He then turned around, announced very loudly that he was going to the bathroom, and walked away as those around him chuckled.

“He really is a good kid.” Geoff murmured, holding Erica close to his chest. She wouldn’t stop crying unless he held her, and he was more than happy to oblige.

“You you think he understands that he has 5 dads and a mom now?” Michael asked.

“Probably not. We an explain it once we get back.” Jack responded.

“What’s he gonna call all of us?” Gavin questioned. Everyone looked at him.

“What?” Ryan said, tilting his head in confusion.

“Well, he’s got 5 dads and a mom. Who’s going to be dad, papa, that shit.”

“I... I honestly never thought of that.” Jack admitted. “I guess I really wouldn’t, since I’m the only mom.”

“Well I’m obviously dad.” Geoff announced.

“Well why do you get to be dad?” Ryan asked, crossing his arms.

“Because I’m the leader! Who else would be dad?”

“I have spent the most time with him so far...” Ryan mumbled.

“I connected with him by talkin’ about video games.” Michael pointed out.

The five of them quietly argued about that for a few minutes before they saw Sean returning. They didn’t want to have that conversation with him before returning home, so they all shut up about it.

Sean was more than excited to see the ocean, and then a whole new continent while he was on the plane. The 6 of them soon found themselves back in familier territory, and we’re more than happy to show it off to Sean and Erica.

“Welcome to your new home, little ones!” Jeremy cheered, swinging the door to their cottage open.

“Woah.” Sean said quietly, his eyes full of awe.

“You like it, little guy?” Ryan asked, ruffling his hair. Sean nodded.

“I do! It’s so big! Can I see my room?”

“Sure can! Michael, why don’t you and Gav show him his new room while we all make dinner?” Geoff asked. Michael nodded, and he and Gavin both picked up Sean, the three of them giggling wildly as the sprinted upstairs.

“He really is going to fit in here, isn’t he?” Ryan chuckled, bringing in the last of the bags.

“If he isn’t too weirded out by having 6 parents, he will.” Jack said nervously.

“Jackie, it’ll be okay. He’s a good kid. He’ll understand. Now, let’s make some lasagne; Mica said that’s his favorite.”

Meanwhile, Sean was ecstatic to find that his room was full of different video game things, all centered around The Legend if Zelda. There were Zelda posters, a Link bedset, and the walls were painted a nice green.

“How’d you manage to pull this off?!” Sean squealed in delight.

“We made some calls before leaving and had this all done before we arrived. You like it?” Gavin asked, smiled at the small kid.

“I love it! This is so cool!”

“Oh, just you wait, Seanie Boy. Let’s go to the best room in the whole house.” Michael smirked as he sprinted out of the room, hearing Sean and Gavin laugh as they chased after him. He came to a sudden stop, and Sean barreled into his legs at full speed, causing him to fall.

“Oh, sorry, Mikey!” Sean giggled. Michael felt his heart warm at the name.

“This,” Michael started as he got up, “is the game room.” He opened the door, and Sean’s mouth dropped.

“It’s like an arcade in here!” He squealed in delight.

“Once we finish dinner and everything, we can come play some games. You can start playing Legend of Zelda.” Michael told him.

“Are you two gonna play with me?” Sean asked. “I really want you guys to play with me, you’re fun!”

“Of course, we’d love to.” Gavin answered, smiling. Michael nodded in agreement.

The three of them hung out for awhile before dinner was ready. After they all ate, the 8 of them sat down in the living room.

“Okay, Sean, we need to talk to you about something.” Jack started.

“You wanted to tell me about how the 6 of you are dating or married or something and that you’re all my parents?” Sean stated bluntly. Jack nearly fell off of the couch.

“How’d you know?” She squeaked.

“You guys are really loud; I heard ya all the way from the bathroom on the plane! You got quieter after a bit, but I get that you guys are all my parents. I think it’s cool! I went from no parents to 6. How many people get that lucky?”

“Did you also hear us... arguing...” Geoff trailed off, and Sean rolled his eyes.

“About what to call you guys? Yeah, and you guys really overthink things, you know that? I already know what to call all of you, if you’ll let me...” He trailed off.

“You can call us whatever you’d like. It can be a variation on dad, or it can be our names. Whatever is most comfortable for you.” Geoff said quickly.

“Well, Jack’s either momma or Jackie, because both fit her really well.” Sean started, causing Jack to blush. “Michael’s Mikey, Gavin’s Gavvy, and Jeremy is JJ. Ryan, you’re papa, and Geoff, you’re dad.” Sean finished. “It just feels the most natural.”

“Oh come here, you little rascal!” Geoff said happily, picking up Sean and spinning him around as they both laughed. “I’m dad! I’m dad!”

“Mikey is the best name, I coulda never thought of that.” Michael smiled.

“Gavvy is so cute!” Gavin told him.

“So’s JJ.” Jeremy added.

Sean let out a big yawn as they continued talked, signaling his jet lag.

“Ready for bed, Sean?” Jack asked gently. Sean simply nodded in response, his eyes closed and already falling asleep. She picked him up and took him to his room, tucking him in to bed and planting a light kiss on his forehead.

“Goodnight, Sean. We’ll see you in e morning.” She said quietly.

“Goodnight, Jackie. Thank you for bringing me and Erica into the bestest family in the entire world. I think things are gonna be really great from now on.”

Jack, as well as the others, couldn’t have agreed more.
