Yeah, so far it's been pretty good, with a few caveats!
It's gone up slightly in price (I bought it at Best Buy which no longer sells it, but this is the exact model at Amazon) and you can actually get ones that are cheaper -- possibly even better -- but I chose that one based on its relatively small footprint. It's still kind of a beast, sizewise, but it's one of the smaller ones out there. The action of it is pretty smooth, it comes with two slicing blades, the adjustment knob is fairly easy to use, and it's reasonably easy to clean, most of the detachable parts are machine washable. It's loud but not like, painfully so.
It has suction cup feet but honestly it does still slip around a bit, at least for me, so it's a two-hander, you hold the machine with one hand and slice with the other. It also does not slice as thin as a pro slicer would -- thinner than 4mm and it just shreds the meat, at least the cuts I try to slice. I think it would probably do thin slicing on veggies, though, and possibly on deli meat, where it's denser and more consistent than a cut of chuck roast.
For my purposes it's been a great if imperfect tool, I suppose is the upshot. If you're not concerned with size you can probably go cheaper and if you want super thin slicing I'd go up a few brackets in price, but it slices meat well thin enough for italian beef.

meals for the near future :
- i didn’t end up making the chorizo sweet potato pepper hash last week so that’s what i’m making for dinner tonight, usually w little sunny side up eggs nestled between the potato cubes
- i made brownies today w rice flour and the rest of my expensive dutch process cocoa i had leftover from my gf’s bday cake. they came out springy and chocolatey and mochi adjacent. i like them a lot :-)
- i spatchcocked and dry brined chicken and prepped some potatoes and swiss chard for tomorrow’s dinner when i roast the bird and cook the veg in the schmaltz. im such a sucker for a good roast chicken and i love having the leftover carcass for stock !
- i have so many veggies on my list rn bc i’m missing summer and it’s bountiful produce. when i grocery shopped i got a couple bunches of broccolini i want to roast w parmesan and lemon, persian cucumbers i want to smash and serve w chili crisp and fried shallots and vinegar, and some small squashes i want to bake in cream and top w breadcrumbs or something
- i have a focaccia dough proofing for the night to make a potato parmesan focaccia pizza situation
- i have a couple filets of cod i want to cook en papillote with saffron and shaved fennel and lemon for a tender flaky fish dinner bc im nothing if not a fish enjoyer

some new rules i’m forcing myself to follow until my bday (end of june) because summer is almost here and i’m miserable with the way i look.
not all of these have to do with ana but i’m putting them on here anyways to keep myself accountable
only eat 500-800 calories a day, if not less. i have to log my intake somewhere. (if yall wanna see my daily food logs lmk i always feel like i’ll be annoying if i post them on here)
must fast 1-2 times a week, if not more.
one workout in the morning after i wake up, and one before i go to sleep. each have to be atleast 1 hour. (on the days i won’t be home, i have to workout once i am)
keep my room clean aka. fold my laundry and put it away once it’s done and keep my desktops organized.
make my bed every morning.
no calories after 9pm. nights out drinking don’t count, i just have to be mindful of my intake. (if i want a munchie after 9, it has to be under 150cals, and i only get one cheat day a week for this)
read atleast 10 pages of a book a day.
keep a clean and healthy diet. NO BINGING. ie. stick to water and lowcal drinks, lots of fruits and veggies, proper serving sizes or less, etc,,,
keep up with my skincare/self care routines.
take my vitamins and supplements everyday
basically the 75 hard challenge but imma have a drink if i want a drink lol
i’ll probably keep adding to this as i think of more, if anyone has some other good rules or ideas of what i should add lmkkk

Update: completed my 60 hours fast :)
Overate a little in culinary today tho so I pvrged it.
Tomorrow is class potluck day and I created a plan so I won’t go over my 500 cal limit from that bc I also have dinner with my grandparents on Friday nights (ik so Rory Gilmore) and those cals combined w the potluck might set me above 500.
I am contributing ice cream to the class, so I decided to buy the big ice cream pints of chocolate and strawberry and vanilla for the whole class but I’m also bringing a halo top (low cal ice cream) which is my safe food. That way it will look like I am eating the ice cream like a normal kid but I won’t have a panic abt the cals and will be able to live with myself.
That way I won’t be tempted to have any other snacks or candy that anyone brings but also won’t look suspicious.
I also bought monk fruit drops today which is sooo good in my tea it literally makes it so sweet and no cals so I feel like that can help me curve my sweet tooth.
I also get weird random cravings for spicy and vinegary foods so I like kimchi and spicy pickles a lottt. But trust me don’t have it if you’re planning on pvrging after. If I have it by itself I pvrge it bc it taste horrible the second time. So I try not to have spicy food with other food like fried food or any meal that I would plan on pvrging cuz then I might not want to cuz of the horrid burning of my throat.
I hope for dinner I can do my own thing. I usually eat some form of carrots, a roasted veggie, yogurt, bone broth, or fruits if it’s up to me for dinner (which is ironic bc I’m literally in culinary school and could easily make a good dinner and keep it around the same cals I am just lazy and have the mentality that if I don’t cook food to taste good that there’s no point of cooking at all . But I could make low cal dinner so it like I’m having an actual meal instead of just carrots or wtv while still keeping it low cal.
I hope my bsf whose bday it happens to be tomorrow doesn’t get offended when I don’t try her food at the potluck. I rlly don’t wanna b throwing up in the bathrooms. Well it is last period so I can technically do it at home if she makes me eat some.
