This turns out to be for the best, because Bruce's ptsd doesn't distinguish much between fireworks and alien bombshells. 20- men & coyotes (borrows vibes from the Red Sahan album) The misadventures of Red Hood, aspiring slumlord (and how he accidentally becomes Crime Alley’s favorite landlord instead) This one can be considered part of Minefield, before Jason is on good terms with the family. Basically, he buys this crappy apartment building, thinking he's going to make it his Secret HQ. The location is perfect, the facade is unsuspecting, it has very convenient tie-ins to the sewers and a separate garage/utility building-- the only problem is, it still has tenants. He'd love to pay them off or secure them somewhere else to live but he's newly on the lam from Blackgate and he's strapped for cash-- even crappy apartment buildings aren't cheap. But this isn't the only bargain bin place in Crime Alley to go. And how hard can it be, to... encourage the tenants to leave on their own? It turns out... really hard. Part of his master plan is to move in and be the worst neighbor imaginable... but that derails the first time he sees that decrepit old man with COPD in 209 drop a bagful of canned goods down the stairs, and he can't just leave, so he sits the guy down and gathers them all up; the single mom in 113 witnesses this and before Jason knows it he's the night babysitter for her kids so she can work her night job (after being made to swear on his life not to tell the kids what her night job is); the ex-army nurse in 303 with a drinking problem patches him up that night he comes in ripped to shreds... he ends up helping the battered wife in 100 cover up murdering her husband while dodging Nightwing, who is really picking an inconvenient time to be a friendly neighborhood brother.

Suddenly Bruce realized that Alfred would pry everything out of him if he stayed another minute. He’d know Bruce was losing his mind, know he might have already lost it.

“I’m going to bed,” Bruce said, standing abruptly.

The kitchen wavered and he found himself leaning into the table, listening to the ringing and muffled words in his ears.

Pressure on his shoulders… bars braced against his back…

Alfred was very close to his face. Bruce read his lips until the sounds started making sense again. “Were you hurt last night?”

Bruce swallowed and shook his head, feeling thick and prickling with cold sweat.

Alfred studied him skeptically, mouth tight with concern. “Don’t give me technicalities. Are you hurt?”

“No,” he breathed.

“You’re nonetheless in a state,” Alfred muttered. His hand cupped Bruce’s forehead for a moment before relocating it to his shoulder. “Where have you been, then? What’s happened?”

“Hospital.”

Alfred’s eyebrows drew together. “Hospital,” he repeated, tone clipped. “Bruce, if I am to discover you passed out from a premature emergency room discharge in an hour, I wish you’d tell me now.”

Bruce shook his head. “The archives,” he rasped. “But all the paper files… there was a fire. What’s on the server is all there is. There’s nothing else.”

Alfred studied him critically. “You’ve been up all night, then. Scouring their database.”

Bruce nodded.

Alfred closed his eyes for a moment. He nodded once.

He only realized Alfred’s hand was on his chest, pushing him firmly against the back of his chair, when he slowly retracted it and stood from where he was kneeling with a wince.

“Don’t move,” he said firmly. “I’ll be right back.”

Bruce leaned forward to rest his eyes in the heels of his hands and listened to the refrigerator suck open and closed, a wood cabinet knocking shut.

The inevitable glass slid up to his elbow contained, less inevitably, the grape juice he’d passed over earlier. He frowned at it.

“With every glass of orange juice going untouched this week, there seemed little point in getting more,” Alfred remarked, pulling his chair closer to Bruce before sitting stiffly. “Drink.”

Bruce watched Alfred absently rub his bad leg and picked up the glass. Alfred’s hand hovered below it, as if he might lose strength and drop it.

The sugar made his teeth ache. “Sorry. For your knee.”

Alfred sighed. “Nevermind. Better my knee than your head. Do the hospital records have to do with that murder case?”

He swallowed, throat dry with long silence. “…Did Mom have hallucinations?”

Bruce felt Alfred’s attention even while he studied the scattered crumbs.

“The records are gone,” he added quietly.

A long moment passed before Alfred put his tablet aside and turned slowly to face Bruce more fully. “Not as far as I’m aware,” he said. “Though I’m afraid I didn’t learn many details about her hospital visits… that was before my time.”

Bruce closed his eyes, something hard and black coiling in his chest.

“…Are you hallucinating?” Alfred asked.

He regretted filling his mouth with futile questions instead of muting it with a scone.

Alfred waited.

“I don’t know.”

“Alright,” Alfred said gently. “For how long?”

“A week.” The underside of his chair seat was unpolished; splinters crowded under his fingernails. “Since Theodore Mendel’s murder.”

“What exactly are you seeing?”

“…Shadows. A presence.” He hesitated. “A little girl.”

Alfred nodded slowly. “You’ve checked the footage?”

“Inconclusive.”

“Have you come in contact with something?”

Bruce looked up sharply, the brush of the girl’s hair across his jaw.

Alfred frowned back at him. “Poisons? Toxic fumes of some kind?… Drugs?”

“I ran tests,” he said. “They were negative… but I’m not sure I…”

“Trust yourself?” Alfred sighed.

Bruce nodded faintly.

“That’s somewhere to start.” A board creaked as Alfred got up and stepped closer to him. “I’ll check your previous results and we’ll run them again for good measure. And then you will sleep,” he warned. “That is the easiest to rule out, and you could use it.”

Tests. Sleep. The sane oversight was reassuring, extending confidence that whatever was going on, it would soon be solved. Bruce stood and moved to step past Alfred.

Alfred leaned very slightly into his path.

His tight expression had softened. “This is hardly the worst thing that could happen. I’m glad you said something.”

It was too early to be relieved. Bruce had no answers, no confirmation either that he was seeing things or the equally disturbing possibility that he was being pursued through the night by a very small wraith.

He was relieved anyway; the tension that was holding him up retreated only to leave him sagging with exhaustion.

Alfred stepped forward in question; Bruce echoed him with a small step of his own and let himself be folded into an embrace. He folded his own arms carefully around Alfred’s back and sighed.

“You’ll be alright,” Alfred said quietly.

Feeling small, Bruce held tighter.

Alfred pulled back, put his hands on Bruce’s arms and considered him seriously. “Now. Drink that first.”

When Bruce hesitated with a bland look, Alfred raised his eyebrows.

“Think of it as a diagnostic,” he said dryly. “We will rule out thirst, starvation and sleep deprivation as causes and perhaps improve your self care habits at the same time. Go on, then. I’ll wait.”

Bruce sighed and picked up the mug of ginger tea with a pointed look before draining it. The warmth in his throat made him hoarse when he let it clap against the table again and he said, “Happy?”

“Ecstatic,” Alfred said, pressing a scone into Bruce’s hand and turning aside. “The last time I had any indication that you ingested something of nutrition was the sandwich I left out on your desk yesterday. At least, I assume it was you that took it, and not a leprechaun.”

Bruce didn’t reply.

Alfred glanced back at him, pace slowing. “…You did eat the sandwich,” he prompted sternly.

Bruce met his gaze evenly but looked away before he spoke. “I left it for the girl. Outside.”

“…Did she take it?”

Bruce shrugged. “It’s gone.”

Alfred stared at him for a moment before pointing forcefully at the untouched scone in his hand. “Eat that.”

its sort of medieval but not, because its supposed to be that the eeveelutions have divided into kingdoms with different power structures and they all hate each other ofc, and each kingdom demands you turn into the e-lution (Ex: all umbre-doms must become umbreons or else they are Thrown To The Dungeons for being 'traitors').

the main character is an eevee named Ordi who hails from the Umbreon Kingdom. Ordi (12yo he/they AroAce) is very stoic/bland/serious and follows the kingdom's rules to the T (like a loser). He has a best friend named Jewel, whose outgoing and not afraid to voice her opinions, and he has an older bro (18) named Blanche, who is an umbre that dyed his fur white and his rings blue because he's Edgy and Unique and a Rebel who hates the umbre kingdom

the theoretical comic would start with Ordi in class learning all of this stuff, then the kids who've evolved into umbreons pick on him for not being an umbre yet (11-12yo is the typical evolve age). Ordi ignores them and goes home. at home he talks to his parents (stern government official mom and bored nerd dad, both sort of distant parents but still loving towards their kids, just not obviously) abt not evolving, since his bro Blanche evolved when he was just 9, to which they reassure him that his dad was a late bloomer and evolved at 17 (note: eevees who dont evolve by 18 are sent to facilities to force them to evolve or exile them). Ordi feels slightly better

Ordi runs into his brother as he's applying his blue rings (sorta like stickers over the normal rings? or contacts?) and they banter, Ordi kinda hates him in that "why is he so rebellious ugh!!!" he cant understand why his brother wants to look so flashy. their mom does have red ring contacts and plenty of other umbres have ring contacts too, but its kinda frowned upon to dye ur fur another color cause the black color is kinda a symbol of the umbreons.

anyway Ordi sees his bro sneak out and is partially just curious and partially worried he's doing something against the umbreon code. welp, Ordi is proven right as he follows his bro to the border (to which Ordi is worried about a Vaporeon attack since they border the Vapors, NOT the Flareons which is a trauma thing for the mom's backstory thats not important rn also Blanche's father might secretly be a Flare oop-). there, he sees his brother meet with an Espeon. NOT JUST ANY ESPEON. this Espeon is green. and not just dyed fur!!! she's shiny.

this is the Princess of the Espeons.

Princess Beauty.

Ordi is horrified to realize his brother is meeting with and DATING (and totally conspiring with!!!!) the heir to their mortal enemies' thrown. so ofc he confronts his brother and they get in a screaming match where Blanche tells him not to be a sheep and that he loves Beauty and nothing can keep them apart and Ordi is like "im gonna tell mom!!" Blanche is obvs like "no dont!!!" and Beauty sits there like "uh, im just gonna go-"

so somehow Blanche convinces Ordi NOT to tell mom or dad, and they head home all angy. they sleep and the next day occurs, Ordi goes to school, blah blah, exposition with bullies (the lead bullies are twins who also evolved young BTW. i forget their names or if i even gave them, but one's a guy, one's a girl and they come from a typically rich kid high pressure family). so the typical bullies pick on Ordi and call him an "ever 'vee" but Jewel defends him and gives the bullies a good ol' punch. a Middle School Playground fight ensues and Jewel starts evolving from the exp gained!

but Uh Oh it's morning, and exp gain + friendship (with Ordi) + sunlight = Espeon. so Jewel evolves into an Espeon which is a big No No and she gets taken to Jail. Ordi is shocked and horrified and wants to save his friend. he goes home and his parents sadly tell him this is the way, and his dad says he just has to stay quiet and obedient and do as he's told like always. his mom grimly (hesitantly?) agrees.

Ordi can't accept that his best friend is just gone forever now, possibly in harm's way, because she evolved into something she didnt even mean to!! so he HAS to save her, and, bitterly, he turns to his big bro and asks if his Espeon gf can help save Jewel. Blanche agrees and is like "see how corrupt the system is!" but Ordi wont admit so and says its just one mistake. so Ordi and Blanche go to meet Princess Beauty, who, of course agrees to help them, and Ordi thinks its just cause Beauty wants to save a fellow Espeon and have insight into Umbreon life via Jewel, but Beauty explains its because she believes all the kingdoms should learn to love each other, and that they need to live together in harmony, and that everyone should evolve into what they want. Ordi thinks thats BS but Blanche believes in it whole-heartedly with a side of pessimism like "but like that'll ever happen, all the kingdoms are rotten."

anyway, Beauty says she knows a 'vee who can help them, and that Ordi just needs to find out where Beauty is being held. so Ordi goes home and asks his mom (government official) and she tells him after a bit, and Ordi reports to Beauty. then, at night, Beauty sends a Vaporeon named Dewdrop (they/them) to do the rescue, which shocks Ordi because how the hell does an Espeon know a Vaporeon??? (then it starts to make sense cause duh, Beauty is meeting Blanche at the Vaporeon-Umbreon border, how ELSE would she be there? ...further more, why isnt she at her kindom's royal castle??)

so Dew uses the river to get to the side of the Jail with Ordi (Ordi is not happy abt the swimming and water and makes sure to extra hate it bcus eevees arent supposed to learn to swim until after they evolve in fear they become Vapors). Ordi is also unnerved because Dew doesn't say a single word at all to him, and they look super emotionless and kinda scary (which makes Ordi suspect/fear that Dew wants to kidnap them). Dew uses waterbeam or whatever to try and break a hole/wear down the water, and they do manage to get in!!! Ordi sees Jewel locked up (along with other evolved vees and even a few umbreons, all of which he thinks poorly of tho he does realize the hypocriticalness of his throughts). he tells Jewel he's gonna get her out of there but she's telling him to run, now, and he's like why??

and, predictably, there's an Umbreon police team there and they see Ordi and chase him. Dew takes Ordi and runs and Ordi screams and is like "no!! not without Jewel!" but Jewel uses a new Espeon move of hers (idk which) to knock Ordi away, and he and Dew barely manage to escape into the depths of the river and into the heart of Vapor territory...

or so Ordi thinks. once they surface and stay surfaced, Ordi screams at Dew to take him back and that they cant kidnap him, but Dew just shakes his head and starts walking. with no choice, Ordi follows him and they go to some strange... tunnel, bunker of sorts, that leads to a giant shelter. Beauty is there, and Ordi isnt sure if he's relieved or nervous to see her, but she greets him and questions where Jewel is and Ordi snaps that it failed. Beauty says that now that the guards know their face, they will be after them, and that Ordi cannot go home. Ordi is horrified and denies it and basically throws a temper tantrum, kicking and screaming and yelling (and crying), but then a Sylveon appears and Ordi is shocked into silence because a Sylveon??

everyone knows that Sylveons live like nuns in the mountains, far away from the war, living in bliss and peace and whatever lies they tell themselves. ALL kingdoms hate Sylveons because Sylveons think they're so noble and great being all 'peaceful' and wistful, but that they're naive and think that all kingdoms should just love each other like its a fairy tale.

this Sylveon is named Pixie and she is very hyper. so hyper that she shocks Ordi into silence because he just wasnt expecting it. she welcomes him to the Ever Vee resistance and that he'll love it here and isn't he Blanche's little bro??? aww how cute she can see the family resemblance!! Ordi questions what the heck she's talking about and Pixie lays out some plot stuff, saying that she's the leader of this Ever Vee base, where survivors of the wars and rebels and, well, ever vees can live together. Ordi is stunned, cause he thought that, aside from an insult, Ever Vees were just a group of outcasted unevolved eevees, not a.. rebellion group? Pixie just chuckles and says surprise! and welcomes him once more and says he can room with the other kids since they dont have space! then she just Leaves (giving Beauty a flirty goodbye).

Ordi has shutdown by this point and allows Dew to lead him to his room, where he meets a small, scared Jolteon who has bandages all over one side of her face and eye and is missing an ear. she doesnt say anything, just stares in fear, but then the other girl, a very loud and equally energetic as Pixie Glaceon greets Ordi (the Jolteon also flinches at her volume). Dew leaves them, and when the Glaceon introduces herself as Autumn ("but you can just call me Autie!") and the Jolteon as Jolty ("because we have no idea what her name is cause she wont tell us- well she doesnt say much anyway! more than Dew tho, they never ever talk ever!!") and then asks Ordi for his name and backstory, but Ordi just snaps at her to shut up and that he's had a difficult day. he storms to his bed and crawls in and puts the blankets over his head. he thinks Autie is quiet for once but then hears her whispering very loudly to Jolty about what weedle stung him or some other poke-metaphor for Cranky

the next day, Autie loudly walks Ordi up and he begrudgingly follows her (and she talks the entire way about how she's gonna be the greatest Glaceon warrior one day) and Jolty as they lead him to get breakfast. there, they meet the rest of the cast. the first is Vine the Leafeon, who is Autie's older brother. Vine is reprimanding Autie for being so obnoxious. then walks in Inferno the Flareon, who sneers at the newcomer and complains about having more dumb little kids in the building. Vine tells him that theirs more adults than kids and Ferno tells him to shut up, to which Vine does. Ferno demands Vine get him something to eat and Vine does and Autie glares at Ferno and says he doesnt like him and Ferno says the feelings mutual brat. Autie sticks her tongue out and then, of course, being a rational and mature 17 nearing 18yo, Ferno lits up a fireball at her, a 13yo child. (note: Jolty is also terrified and shaking and clinging to Ordi during this, which he hates/is confused by)

thankfully, another Flareon interrupts, with Dew at her side. this Flareon has a scar down her face, and glares firmly at Ferno and reprimands him. Ferno grumbles and says "Sorry aunt Smolder" and angrily walks away to Vine, who just came back and is oblivious to Ferno attempting to lit his sis on fire. Ferno roughly drags him along with him, even tho Vine wanted to eat with his sis. anyway, the adult, wartorn Flareon introduces herself as former General of the Flareons, Smolder. Ordi tenses, knowing how awful the Flareons are. As Ferno just proved, they are angry, blood-thirsty, aggressive, and vicious monsters who take no prisoners, merely kill for the fun of it. after all, that's why his mom moved away from the Flareon border ('isn't it?' he wonders).

but Autie happily greets and hugs Smolder, calling her mama Smolder. Smolder chuckles and says hello to you to, patting the energetic girl's back. Ordi questions if she's really her mom, but Smolder says no, Autie just enjoys calling her that. Smolder says that Pixie may be the leader, but she's the one in charge of the care for all 'vees in this base, the little ones especially. Ordi feels surprisingly calm with Smolder, but Jolty is still clinging to him and staring at Smolder like she murdered Jolty's family, so he's hesitant to truly trust Smolder or Dew or anyone else for that matter.

anyway, they eat, or whatever, yada yada. there's some yucky "flirting" between Vine and Ferno where it clearly establishes that Ferno is abusive/toxic towards Vine and just using him and Vine is spineless/desperate and stays with him regardless. also establish that Dew is mute and never speaks. some (reluctant on Ore's part)) Autie, Ordi, and Jolty bonding as quick friends. later, Smolder tells Ordi that his brother is here to see him and Ordi mad dashes to his bro.

he is upset to see Beauty with Blanche, but then demands that both of them take him home. Blanche says they cant, that he will be arrested on sight, that even mom and dad know now. Beauty says he's safest here and Ordi argues with them, but, ya know, eventually Ordi realizes that if he goes back he will be treated as though he had evolved into an Espeon, and that he truly is a traitor and then he has some Feelings about that and shuts down once more.

Beauty says she's gonna go talk to Pixie and gives Blanche a quick goodbye peak, then Blanche and Ordi make their way to (somewhere idk, lunch?), where Blanche tries to comfort Ordi that everything will be okay, that he knows its scary but that he'll be safe here and they'll still try to rescue Jewel, but Ordi doesn't respond at all and Blanche gets worried. but they're interrupted when Vine walks out of a room with a bruise on his cheek, to which Blanche is like "woah! Vine, right? are you okay?" and Vine is like "uh, yeah, uhm, its cool, I, uh," and stutters into oblivion when Blanche offers to get a berry to heal him. luckily, Autie saves Vine from his gay malfunction by squealing and hugging her bro happily. she then gets super interested in Blanche because he's "white and blue like a Glaceon!!!"

as Autie pesters him and inspects him, Vine tells Autumn to stop bothering him, to which Blanche questions why she has a Leafeon name when she's a Glaceon. Vine explains that they were from a Leafeon family, but that Autie had been obsessed with being a Glaceon since she was young. Ordi questions in disgust why a vee would ever want to not be what their kingdom was (doesnt she have any pride?) to which Autie exclaims that Glaceons are the coolest ever and who wouldnt wanna be one!!!! Vine explains further, saying that Glaceons rescued them when they were young and had gotten caught in an avalanche. Ordi is shocked and questions why Glaceons would save Leafeons when everyone knows they hate each other as much as Umbreons and Espeons do. Blanche starts saying that its ridiculous propaganda and that vees of any kingdom can get along but Vine interrupts to say "then they destroyed our entire village and left us orphaned."

there's a beat of silence and Blanche just goes "what?"

Vine goes into Backstory Mode and explains that the Glaceons that saved them were soldiers awaiting orders. they saved Autie and him for whatever reason, and were truly kinda nice to them, but that they were still young. Autie and Vine were too young to realize that Glaceons being in Leafeon turf was suspicious and didnt realize they were stationed there, awaiting orders... to destroy their town and capture the icy area that the Leafeons had stolen from them previously. Autie and Vine escaped when the Glaceon that had previously saved them recognized them and gave them mercy. Vine took Autie and ran way, but, Autie could not understand what had happened and idolized the Glaceons still, and, of course, evolved into one. now that she had done so, Vine knew they couldn't go to a Leafeon village, so instead he searched for the Ever Vees until he found Pixie.

And then Autie finishes it with "And now I'm gonna be the bestest Glaceon soldier ever and become their General just like Smolder was!!"

anyway not sure exactly what happens after that, but, basically, Ordi angsts some more but finds himself reluctantly becoming friends with Autie and Jolty, eventually he becomes good enough friends with Jolty that she quietly admits to him her real name is Emma, and also that her family and home was burned to the ground by Flareons. Ordi also becomes closer to Smolder and Dew, as they are both kinda parental figures and mentors to him. Smolder would admit to Ordi that her children were killed by the war and thats why she left despite being a General who had killed so many mercilessly; she could never imagine harming a child but hadnt stopped to realize that she had been killing many via orders to her troops. she forced Ferno to come with her per her brother's request, not that Ferno was happy about that as he still thinks Flareons are superior (and loves how afraid Jolty is of him).

there's some more Vine and Ferno being in a toxic relationship and Ferno being an a-hole to everyone always without remorse. he actually injuries Autie once and that makes Vine snap at him, but then Ferno smacks him and says he cant yell at him like that because he's just a stupid Leafeon who'd be nothing without him (yikes). Blanche comes to Vine's defense and Vine is blushy-blushy. Blanche and Vine become good friends.

there would be some cuts in the comic to Ordi's parents. his mom is super worried (dad is too, but the focus is on the mom), as she thinks about her past and, shocker, it's revealed she had fallen in love with a Flareon, but when she got preggo with his kid, he wanted her to join the Flareon's side, that the kid had to be a Flareon, it was in its blood, but she refused and the Flareon got angry and he and his buddies burned down her neighborhood (no deaths tho). she ran away where she met Ordi's father, who was kind and understanding and boring and they pretending Blanche was his instead of the Flareon's and no one was the wiser.

there's also cuts to Jewel, who plots her escape. when she goes to face a judge for her 'sins', which she thinks is totally stupid cause she'll be imprisoned forever anyway. but then, to her surprise, they say they have a special mission for her, that she can be a spy... at first she denies, but then... shocker!!! her former school bully (purple rings, female twin) appears when she's moping about her decision in a jail cell and the former bully says that she arranged for this by convincing her dad to do so, so that Jewel could have a chance at life! Jewel is shocked and questions why she'd do that and the bully (damn i need a name for her and her bro... Nora and Aron, there) gets a slight blush but says that she admired Jewel for being so strong and defending her friend like that... Jewel questions why she's a bully and Nora is like "i dont know! ...cause my brother is? ...everyone expects me to be perfect cause i evolved early and my dad's rich but i... i dont even know if i wanted to be an umbreon in the first place..." Jewel is shocked, but ends up accepting being a spy per Nora's request.

so anyway, there's some implied romance between Smolder and Dew too. nobody knows Dew backstory but Smolder, who teases them over it sometimes, but only kindly. Dew never says anything, even to Smolder, but they're close anyway (and sign language exists, ya know, although Dew still doesn't use it often). they are the eldest adults at the facility, as its actually kinda just the cast plus a few people who come in and out. even Pixie is younger than them. Smolder has a distrust in overly happy Pixie, who is supposed to be their caretaker, but is never really there when it matters, leaving the responsibility to Smolder.

Ordi also still wants to rescue his bff Jewel, as he doesnt know she's out of jail, and obviously Autie is super eager to stage a rescue, and Jolty is horrified but will follow them anywhere regardless. so, sneaking past their older bros, they leave and attack to sneak into jail again. honestly not sure what happens (Ordi nearly evolves tho? into an umbreon but he doesnt), but it fails, and then Pixie has to rescue them or something. Pixie is unusually cold as she acts like an adult for once and scolds them and says they have to ask her for permission first before they stage pointless rescue missions! when they return, Pixie takes Ordi aside and presents him with an everstone, which immediately horrifies Ordi and he attempts to run away but the door is locked.

Pixie tells Ordi that evolving is a curse and doesnt he want to be free of it? he can be a true Ever Vee then, and he can know everything he wants to. Ordi denies it and tries the door again, it opens, and he slams into Beauty. he hides behind her and tells her what Pixie tried to do, and Beauty is like "what? ...Pixie would never, are you insane? she wants everyone to have the freedom to evolve. i think you're just worn out after your adventure today, why dont you go back to bed?" and Ordi is shocked Beauty doesnt believe him but leaves. Beauty then turns to Pixie like "really?" to which Pixie is like "whaaaat? we need more eevees! not eeveelutions!" Beauty just sighs and says she can't just scare her boyfriend's lil bro like that, or else what will Blanche do if he found out? Pixie gets pouty and is like "your boyfriend??? excuse me. what am i chopped liver?" Beauty laughs and they kiss. (gaslight, girlboss, gatekeep)

anyway, i dunno how the rest goes exactly but its sort of like: we cut to Jewel spying (and Nora being blushy around her when Jewel relays info to her. Aron is still a whiny brat bully to her tho), and she learns stuff about the Espeons who have taken her in. they love their royal family a lot, and Beauty shows up at events to just kinda be paraded around. Espeons, to Jewel's disgust, pride themselves on being pretty (cause stereotypes), and dont have a super strict structure. they hate Umbreons and other 'lutions, but they're kinda lame in Jewel's opinion, because she's always prided herself on her strength, but they think she's weird for focusing on fighting and stuff. anyway, somehow Jewel would get close to the royal fam enough to follow Beauty, and wonders where she's going. she finds out Beauty is going to meet the Sylveons and Jewel finds out that the Sylveons don't just want 'world peace', they want everyone to be 'ever vees' so that they cant be 'cursed into eeveelution unless its pure like a Sylveon, who evolves from affection and love.'

so somehow Jewel and Nora would get into contact with Blanche (cause Jewel is worried about Ordi) and they'd go meet Ordi+ and Ordi and Jewel would have a tearful reunion (and Ordi would question why Nora was there but Jewel would defend her), but then Beauty would recognize Jewel and be like "wait a minute-" and there would be tension and then it'd be revealed what Beauty and Pixie's plans are (that the whole shelter for outcasts and orphans is kinda a lie. its complicated). Beauty and Pixie reveal their backstory, that they used to be BFFs from a young age (both born into the Espeon kingdom; typical Beauty was the princess and Pixie her maid), but as they grew, Pixie loved Beauty so much she evolved into a Sylveon, which then meant Pixie was outcasted, and Beauty was forced through many trials to become an Espeon. Beauty became bitter while Pixie was forced to find the other Sylveons by herself. the Sylveons then kinda brainwashed Pixie into their ideology (not that Pixie realizes that), and Beauty went on to hate her own kind/family for tearing Pixie away from her.

Beauty ended up meeting Blanche by accident because Beauty kept running away from home. she enjoyed running away to meet him cause it made her feel rebellious and stuff, but then Pixie found her and Pixie told her her plans/ideas, and Beauty agreed and also immediately had to date Pixie, but, ugh, Blanche was still her boyfriend and they had to break up. but Pixie told her not to, that they could use him, because Blanche's mother had connections as an official and trusted government official. if they could gain her trust through Blanche, they could use her to upend the Umbreon government while Beauty worked on destroying the royal Espeon family. (to clarify Beauty and Pixie are both evil and bad people who manipulate others for their own selfish goals)

so Smolder steps up and defends the kids but to her surprise her nephew Ferno would defend them/join their side and say that he knew this whole thing was stupid (he's just siding with the more powerful side) and then, when Smolder prepares to fight her own nephew, Beauty and Pixie, Dew joins them. Smolder is shocked, but Dew just guiltily looks away, and then Smolder wont fight, but Blanche, in complete anger, does, and Jewel, Nora, and the other kiddos do too, but obvs Beauty and Pixie are higher level + more experienced (Dew does not fight them; Ferno does but get's K'O'd be Blanche) so Smolder joins and chases them off. Dew looks back apologetically and signs "im sorry"

Vine comforts Blanche for Beauty cheating on him and everything, yada yada aaaandd.... then i kinda dont have any more idea juice lol. Dew would eventually come back and redeem themself/explain themself!! and their backstory would be properly revealed >;3. ...honestly idk their backstory lmao. but yaeh, thats what i can remember of it

Out of the Vein, released in 2003 is Third Eye Blinds third studio album following their early successes from their debut self titled “Third Eye Blind” (1997) and “Blue” (1999). It was released on May 13th 2003 by Elektra records.

Out of the Vein was recorded at the group's own Mourning Wood Studios in downtown San Francisco and at Skywalker Sound. Frontman Stephan Jenkins felt that Out of the Vein would mark "a new period for the band", and added that "The first two albums were like two parts of the same piece. We've had a hiatus. This is a new beginning." Jenkins reported having written over 40 songs for the album as of August 2001, just prior to starting the recording process for the album. Out of the Vein was originally scheduled to be released in early 2002, but was delayed several times before its release in May 2003. According to Jenkins, some of the reasons for the delay stemmed from a self-imposed pressure to live up to Third Eye Blind's previous successes, leading him to rewrite lyrics.

The material went over many changes before finally being released. Jenkins originally wanted the album to be titled Crystal Baller, after the song of the same name, but it was renamed to Out of the Vein because the other members hated the name. The single "Blinded" was originally titled "When I See You". A scrapped collaboration with hard rock artist Andrew W.K. was still set to be on the album less than two months before the album's final release date.[10] Their collaboration was titled "Messed Up Kid". Jenkins and Salazar were motived to work with him after having attended a live show of Andrew W.K.'s, and coming away from the experience equal parts baffled and impressed by his style of music. The song featured Andrew W.K. performing backup vocals; Jenkins noted that "his voice is so hilarious because it sounds like it's doubled and compressed, but it's not."

Out of the Vein only had one single “Blinded”  

The protagonist of the song is a man who goes to his ex-lover's apartment and spies on her through the bathroom door, illustrated in lyrics such as "I see you fogging up the mirror / Vapor round your body glistens from the shower." Kinda like my life almost.

"Blinded" received positive critical reviews. Billboard's Chuck Taylor wrote that the song was "a jangly, pop-rooted rocker that reflects the signature style of the band: lyric-loaded, a big chorus, hearty, organic instrumentation, and more than a smattering of sexual innuendo. Adult top 40 and modern rock should take this baby in and give it a happy home."[1] Billboard's Larry Flick thought that the song would "easily stand the test of time."[6] While comparing Out of the Vein to Third Eye Blind's previous work, the Record-Journal's Alan Sculley wrote, "Frisky songs like 'Blinded (When I See You)' and 'Crystal Baller' sit comfortably alongside past hits like 'Semi-Charmed Life' and 'Never Let You Go.'

My blood parents I never knew. Berliners, probably, but they left me in an anarchist-affiliated charity orphanage in Potsdam before I was six months old, so all I know for sure is that they named me Artur. I was adopted fairly late as these things go, about five, by the people who I consider my parents: Jurgen and Verena Carolingt. They could have had blood children, but chose to adopt, and frequently. When I was twelve I had five foster-sibs, but they slowed down after that; I only have two more sibs from the next decade, and they were adopted as the eldest four of us moved out. That's not counting Leo, who was their second fosterling; he was a real hellraiser and chafed at the academic's morality they tried to enforce, so he ran away to join a street gang. I got back in touch with him years later; for all that he left, he was as angry as me about - but that's getting ahead of myself.

My parents were academics, professors at Viadrina Universitat in Frankfurt-Oder, but in their more subtle way raised hell just as much as Leo. They grew up during the first partition, Da in East Germany and Ma in West Berlin, and they both hated the idea of hiding what they believed to cater to the powerful. They didn't budge in their convictions that everyone deserved a chance or that their conclusions deserved to be followed to their end. They believed in equality and metahuman rights, even when that was fairly unpopular, and they lived it. I'm a norm as were they, but my sibs are an even split of norms and orks plus one dwarf. They didn't adopt elves, who got snapped up more easily by more prejudiced parents, nor trolls, who posed logistical hurdles they didn't think they could deal with. (They felt bad about leaving out trolls, though, and donated generously to several charities for them. I do too, now, in their memory.) They budged just as little in their research, not even to stay quiet about it. When their research topics - applied sociology and economics of magic, for Da and Ma, respectively - developed from postulates to specific, inconvenient predictions and prescriptions for the practical world which got the corps to lean on their deans to quiet them down or kick them out, even so they stuck to their guns.

That pressure started to build around when I turned 18, and got worse as I went through my degree. When it all went to hell, I was a post-doc in applied modern theology - university-speak for 'shaman-ology' - and Zanne was a thesis candidate in high-energy experimental thaumics - studying when magic goes 'boom'. Gabi had given academia a serious try but it wasn't for her, so she'd become a net security wageslave in Potsdam - though honestly she'd be happier as a SINless decker. Fritz and Deb were undergrads at Viadrina, and Jost, Lotte, and Sascha were still young and at home. I don't understand what exactly was enraging the powers that be about their research; I think Mother had published something demonstrating that the publicly-known processes for producing refined orichalcite should produce a far lower market price, indicating that there was a covert cartel, and Father had models indicating that parts of the Eurowars didn't fit naturally with the known social dynamics pre-bellum, indicating deliberate provocation by some powerful force. True or not, either might have been the provocation. There had been escalating threats, but I wasn't living there, so I didn't hear about that; later, when I researched the background, I learned there’d been a fire started in the garage, broken windows, a chemical warfare agent left hissing in Dad's office after hours. But the first I heard of it was when I was back home, a week in late April, for Easter and Mother's birthday.

When some fucking Johnson carpet-firebombed the entire fucking house.

I don't know if they knew we'd be there. They had to know there were innocent children, there; Jost and Sascha weren't even ten yet. My parents died in the first few seconds, their corpses vaporized. Lotte was hugging Mother, so she was, too, and Fritz was just far enough away to leave dental records. Jost was less lucky; he roasted, but not quickly, and survived three hours before he died in agony. Deb lost a leg and an eye and as far as I know the pain's never stopped. Sascha was in the other room and got out, with severe scarring but none disabling. Zanne as well. Gabi wasn't there; the bosses wouldn't give her time off, and I'm not sure if that was a mercy or a curse. I was next to Father, and as far as the records know, I flash-fried like Lotte. But I'm a shaman of the Dragonslayer, and the fire washed over me. I tried to shield Dad with my body, but my totem isn't a protector; it preserved me, and much better than it would most of its shamans, but that didn't extend to him. I tried to help Jost when I realized he'd lived, but he told me to run and get revenge. I didn't realized Zanne or Sascha made it until much later; Zanne had hit her head and went unconscious quickly, and Sascha's response to pain always was to freeze up. But I kept it together enough to get to the basement, and there was ductwork Zanne had discovered years earlier and shown me, which connected it to three doors down. She'd also shown me the nearest part of the Berlin Underground - we snuck out through that ductwork - which had an ork gang she'd run with sometimes, so I thanked her memory about a hundred times that night. The gang leader by then, Ratbite, turned out to be one of the toughs she'd run with, and recognized me. I wasn't shy about using her memory to get a favor, and traded my shamanic skills - and some medical assistance - to get help going completely dark, wiping me from the databases so I could go truly SINless. He was pretty pissed when he found out she wasn't dead, but by then the favor was spent, and when she went dark as well she did him a couple favors and he mostly forgave me and accepted my excuse that I'd thought I was telling him the truth.

The official story was that the firebombs were thrown by a human-supremacist policlub, Nationale Aktion I believe, who objected to our outspokenly mixed-race family. This was bullshit, but plausible enough bullshit that the department heads and local politicians could easily pretend to believe it and be seen to Do Something in response, without that Something doing anything to harm corporate interests. Sascha I think believes that story, or prefers to act like he does. Deb, Gabi, and Zanne, though, didn't. And Zanne was good at causing explosions, but terrible at keeping her temper in check. She retaliated, with prejudice. Headline-making prejudice, which is how I and my temporary friend Ratbite learned she was alive. She had a big bounty for a couple years, but some anarchists gave her shelter before the corps reacted, and from there she became a runner as well. She didn't know I'd survived, though she did suspect, so I found her first, and joined the crew she ran with at the time. After that one came apart, the two of us have assembled all our future crews together. Well, mostly me, I'm the Face, but she still has better ties in anarchist and goblinoid circles; there's a lot of orks and trolls who won't trust a smoothskin, even one like me with an established rep.

Our vengeance is still a work in progress. The men who carried out the hit were deniable contractors, corp security from a minor place. They went down in an op our second year running, and the company got enough blowback from that job that it folded a year later. Finding out who gave the order is not quite done, but we've narrowed the field. I've got a solid network, and, well, my surviving siblings aren't any happier about it than me. Sascha pushed back when Zanne tried to contact him; I think he wants to put it behind him. Deb's a professor herself now, but she hasn't given up on justice, and Gabi-. She works for the corps, and counter to the ork stereotype is a very cold person in most ways; rationally, I know that gave me reasonable cause to doubt her. But after we finally made contact, we found her heart was cold, but a cold-burning hatred. A grudge aged like wine, but still so raw and deep that it feels unthinkable she could have made any other choice. Even the idea that she might have sided with her bosses over her family feels completely embarrassing to have considered. And Leo, like I said earlier, was almost as mad; he left home, but he still loved them for giving him a home to run from. (I hadn't realized, but he sent them gifts every Christmas, mostly hand-made, from the first year he'd left right through their deaths - he didn't learn about their deaths until he tried to deliver their gifts that year.) He's a complete ork stereotype, though, his anger is intense and searing. He'll let it go for months and then find something that reminds him again and smash up some corp's office, mostly at random. I try to give him more productive outlets when I can, but he refuses to go professional runner so he's probably going to end up landing in an early grave with his gang despite my best efforts. Not that we're really close, but I've lost too much family to let my crazy ex-brother join them.

Do you have any tips/advice on playing the Missing Link?

Alright, since some of you may not be familiar with some of Guilty Gear's "older" mechanics, I'll give you some tips:

1. Blocking is pretty much the same as in most fighting games, with exception that you need to hold down the Respect button to perform Faultless Defense (for most that's the L1 button, check your control settings).  It will burn through a lot of your built-up Chaos Gauge if you were on the offensive, but at least you won't take damage while guarding, and you can even block better while in mid-air.

In more modern GG games, it's a lot easier to do this because you burn less Tension (that's the Chaos gauge by the way), you can also use it to cancel your movements briefly if you have the meter.  It's useful for sudden stops and fast falls if you're in the air, or just want to jump really quickly.

2. It's a lot harder to turn around in GG1, but at least you can take advantage of this with the Taunt button in mid-air.  If you manage to airdash behind a character, press the Taunt button and you'll make a sudden turn and can quickly attack them from behind.  If you're fast, you can land an airdash combo and attack their backside!  Practice this a bit in training mode and you'll get the hang of it.

If you’re blown away by an attack, try using Up+Any Button to perform an Aerial Recovery.  It’s a tad different from more modern ways of recovering, but it’ll get you back on your feet so you can block at least.

3. As you probably already know, the Respect button also doubles as a "charge" button for most characters (Axl, Testament, and Justice are the only exceptions to this).  If you input your respective character's "charge move" and begin to charge up the attack, you can briefly cancel the charge and reset your character's position.  This is a LOT like a Roman Cancel!  So when you perform a string of attacks, whether they are blocked or not, whether they HIT or not... you can input your charge attack and "cancel" the combo to continue the previous string of attacks.

Here's an example (using Sol Badguy):

Heavy Slash > 623+R (Charge) > Heavy Slash > 623+R (Charge) > Heavy Slash etc.

Some charged-based combos are really powerful and REALLY broken, but they still have a certain amount of pushback, so be careful how long you try to do them, forward momentum from a ground dash or breaker dash will help extend the combo.

4. This one's very important... if you find yourself in a pinch, where your Lifebar is in the Yellow, assuming you've lost half your health gauge, remember that you've entered Awakening Mode (Kakusei Mode) and for the rest of the round, you can perform an unlimited number of Chaos Attacks (called Overdrives in later games).

So if you're wounded, you can perform moves like Sol's Tyrant Rave (632146+H) or Ky's Ride the Lightning (41364+H) over and over and it doesn't even cost you Chaos Gauge meter!  Take advantage of this whenever you can.  Even Sol's Dragon Install can be buffed and re-buffed for an extended period while in this state.

5. Let's assume that your opponent is putting you under a LOT of pressure, if you have some Chaos meter, if you're blocking, you can perform a Gamble Attack (later called a Dead Angle guard cancel).  To do this, you need to press Forward+2 buttons while blocking.  It's a bit more costly than Faultless Defense, but it'll help you get back on Offense a lot quicker.

Also, please remember that some attacks of the same strength will clash.  If you manage to clash against your opponent 3 times in a row, both of you will be pushed back and you’ll have some breathing room.

6. Momentum is very important in this game, especially if you have Chaos meter.  Assuming you have a full gauge, you can charge at your opponent and RAM in to them!  This is called a Breaker Crash dash attack!  (Slow characters like Potemkin and Kliff can't really do this move, but others can!)  You can use this not just as a way to attack opponents, but to extend combos after a knockdown or blowback!  You'll have to do some experimenting with it though.

7. Certain counterhits will result in a Dust blowback, just like when you hit Dust (Slash+Heavyslash) input to knock someone in the air.  If you're quick to react, you can press the Up button to perform a Homing Jump which leads in to an Aerial Gatling combo, it takes practice and reflexes, but take advantage of it whenever you can.

8. Gamble Attacks aren't the only move that can be canceled while Guarding.  If you press Punch+Kick either while guarding or during a sequence of attacks, you'll initiate a Danger Time Instant Kill poke.  The screen will go red and you'll have a chance to input your Instant Kill.  But be alert and be FAST because if the opponent inputs theirs before you do, it's the end of the match!

If you know your opponent is trying to Instant Kill you, perform 214214+any button to try and escape the Kill attempt, and they'll dash behind you and you'll have an opportunity to attack them immediately afterwards.

Danger Time itself is often random and risky, but if you get used to taking advantage of it and can read your opponent (not just the CPU), it turns in to a very powerful mind game.

Also, be very careful, as some attack counterhits will also initiate a Danger Time poke, like many of Testament's moves.

9. Charge attacks aren't the only way to extend combos!  A lot of your arsenal of attacks can be jump-cancelled.  That's right, you can jump after an attack hits or is blocked.  You can use this in the form of Instant Airdash Combos.  The input's a little tricky as you have to press Up and Forward-Forward (88 or 77 after a ground attack that can be jump canceled), but with enough practice you can dash in on your target in the middle of a combo and use the momentum to extend your attacks.  This is super effective on big characters like Potemkin and Justice.

10. Take advantage of spacing.  If your opponent is far away from you and they aren't attacking, this will give you a safer opportunity to charge up your moves.  Ky Kiske and Kliff can often take advantage of this with their projectile pressure.  Use Ky's Level 2 or Level 3 Stun Edge and you can really lay the hurt and pressure your opponent.  In Kliff's case, his Reflex Roar Level 3 can wipe out 50% health in a single blast!  He's very powerful.

Is your opponent running away?  Catch them with Potemkin's Level 3 Graviton (623+R/P Slide-Head)!  Potemkin can also use Nitro Hook to close the gap on his opponents if they try to retreat (he later gets to use the move Hammerfall~).

Also, moves like Chipp's Ten'i Teleport (22+any) and Sol's Riot Stamp (214+K or 66+K) are really good at keeping you in your opponent's face when needed for pressure.

Axl and Millia are especially good at keeping their opponents at bay with their respective moves, so if you like poking people at a distance, give them a try.

11. Finally some tips for fighting bosses Testament and Justice.

For Testament: either try to poke him from a distance or pressure him as much as you can, because he's good at laying traps on the field.  His combo strings are very long, but he doesn't charge cancel, so be patient and wait it out if you're blocking.  If he brings out his EXE-Beast on the ground, be ready to jump and you'll take less damage in the air, just watch out for Grave Digger.

For Justice: at the outset she likes to spam her Michael Sword and Imperial Ray, so you'll need something powerful that can either interrupt those attacks (Potemkin's Graviton, Axl's Chain Trap, or Sol's Volcanic Viper/Ky's Vapor Thrust), or something that can stun her at a distance, like Stun Edge or Gunflame.

Like Testament, Justice has a very long string of gatling attack combos, but she can't charge cancel either, so wait it out if she's in your face.

If her Health is low, she'll begin spamming Gamma Ray, so be ready to use Faultless Defense, or a fast move that can interrupt the startup of her attack.  The more you harry Justice with pressure attacks, the less of a threat she'll be.  Just watch out for moves like Valkyrie ARC and SBT, as she'll use those if you pressure her too much.

Characters like Axl or Potemkin have a slight advantage in that they can attack Justice at long range, so use that to your advantage.

12. Last but not least: how to unlock Baiken!

Obviously you can only use Ky or Sol.  I choose Ky because he's easier/safer to use.

Again, take advantage of Level 3 Stun Edge, most A.I. can't deal with it, so it does a ton of damage, even if they block it.  While they're blocking, charge up another Level 3.

Get used to dodging Instant Kill pokes, as after Stage 8, the A.I. will step up its game and the game gets harder.  But, they can't Instant Kill you if they can't touch you, so play keep away with that Level 3 Stun Edge.

Ky can also endlessly spam a mid-air Stun Edge if you're practiced with its input.

Ky's Stun Dipper is also useful in that it causes knockdown, use this for Okizeme frame advantage and charge up your Stun Edge while they're on the ground.

If you've been training and get used to Testament and Justice' patterns, you can wreck both of them with Level 3 Stun Edge.

After that, you just have to fight Baiken and unlock her.

Don't worry, even if you lose a round or match against Baiken you can still rematch her and try again without starting over.  Baiken's a pushover compared to Testament or Justice (in this game at least, she gets stronger in later games).

He’d been sitting there for about an hour, very intently not watching Callum on his date. Instead he sat at the bar with shoulders hunched and folding in on himself. Watching as the line indicating how much beer he had left sunk lower and lower toward the bottom of the bottle. Mick sent him a worried glance every now and then, before sending an equally worried look over Callum’s way. At least, that’s what Ben told himself.

He’d passed tipsy-but-alright miles ago. His head was now filled with smoke and fog and no way out, occasional wisps of Callum’s voice cutting through it like a piercing blade (or maybe like a ray of sunshine). Heard him huff a quiet laugh at something the other bloke said – and it hurt, it hurt – but he couldn’t help but feel a little vindicated. See, Ben knew every possible nuance to the vast repertoire of Callum’s laughs and this… this was just being polite. Because Callum would never leave someone hanging, too afraid to offend their feelings.

Ben… well, Ben could ease a proper full-body laugh out of him, head thrown back and eyes watering, nearly cracking his skull against the headboard after a particularly intense round of hanky-panky. Callum loose-limbed and sated, Ben the happiest he’d ever been, drawing lazy circles on his boyfriend’s chest. He knew that if anyone had taken a close enough look at him, they’d have found actual stars dancing in his eyes.

His fingers travelled to the bottle once more, tracing the path of a droplet of condensation falling down. He swiped at it, pressed it into the paper label that had become a little bit soggy from time passed. He started picking at it, annoyed when it didn’t come clean off, leaving sticky residue against the green and on the tips of his own fingers.

He should let this happen.

Give Callum a fresh start and a clean break – a break he’d forced himself, mind you. Pushed at Callum, pushed at him some more. Try to blink away the tears in his eyes and the knife in his heart and the look on Callum’s face. The feeling of safety and belonging that had engulfed him just a few days ago, pressed close together in the portacabin. He’d wanted to disappear forever, leave everything behind. He’d vaporize, and just stay nestled in the crook of Callum’s elbow or the ticklish spot behind his left ear. In the dip between his thumb and index finger, stroking Ben’s cheek tenderly.

He ventured a glance to where they were sitting. Callum’s date was leaning closer to him than he’d been before, but he – of course – remained completely oblivious. Even after all this time, Callum still didn’t understand the effect he could have on people. It was one of the softest things about him. Ben loved it so much, he needed to protect it, and every other little inch of him. Even if it meant killing himself in the process.

So he couldn’t really explain why he suddenly found himself at their table. “Right, we need to talk.”

Callum looked at him, a little confused and a lot fed up. “Now’s not really a good time, Ben.”

“Oh, no, now’s the best time.” He threw a dirty look in the direction of Callum’s plus-one. “Terribly sorry, needs must and all that. Callum?”

“Hang on,” the stranger said. “Who d’you think you are?”

Not able to bear being labeled ‘the ex’, he bit out “I’m his mate, alright?”.

Callum huffed at that, bit his lip and looked the other way. Shook his head almost imperceptibly, then pushed from his seat and stormed out, Ben following at a leisurely pace. A lot of eyes watched their actions unfold, no doubt wondering as to how Ben would mess it up even further. Though some, he hoped, might be rooting for him, just a little, too.

Callum’s features made a stark contrast to the night air and what little light shone down from a half-waxed moon. He was pacing excitedly, right in the middle of the street. It made Ben worried for him, but mostly it was making him dizzy, the alcohol in his system catching up to him in a swift rush.

He closed his eyes briefly. “Sorry, would you mind stopping for a second?”

Thankfully, Callum did, though the action seemed to shifted his mood as well. He went from anxious to angry in the blip of a heartbeat.

“So you’re my ‘mate’ now, that it?”

Ben chuckled at the way Callum had used those gorgeous long fingers to add pressure to his words. “Those are some pretty intense air quotes, babe.”

Callum deflated at the endearment, all the air and all the fight going out of him in the second it had taken for Ben to unthinkingly use it. He blinked slowly, averted his eyes. “You can’t keep doing this, Ben.” He looked at him, trying to make him see – some sort of sense, he supposed. Futile. “You can’t keep pushing me away then making some claim on me when...”

“I know,” Ben said, taking a step forwards, holding his hands up in a sign of surrender. “It’s just… I know I’m not good enough for ya, but that idiot in there ain’t come close either.”

“Right.” Callum nodded, his eyebrows pulling together. “And you can tell just by lookin’ at him, can ya?”

Ben gave him a look that said it was perfectly obvious. “He don’t know ya.”

“Maybe if you hadn’t -”

His head was still spinning. Surely the alcohol should’ve dissolved by now? “No he couldn’t.”

“Right.” Callum said again. He was so close to Ben now; both of them were shouting. When had that happened? Ben couldn’t remember. “So you’re not good enough, he’s not good enough. Anyone ever going to be?”

“No, they ain’t.” Ben said, placing his hands to either side of Callum’s face, cradling it softly. It was the best prize in the world, and he couldn’t have it.

“No they ain’t, Callum. Because you’re beautiful and kind and amazing in just about every way. And I’m completely in love with ya. And there’s never gonna be anyone in the world that actually deserves all the stuff you give out.”

Callum stilled. “Hang on, say that again?”

“Orright, calm down big ego.” Ben rolled his eyes. “You’re beautiful an’ kind and amazing. And I know for some reason that still comes as bloody news to ya..”

“No…no, not that.” He smiled. “The part you said you’re in love with me.”

Panic rose in his chest. His hands dropped immediately. Damn beers. “Errr… don’t think I said anything of the kind, mate.”

“Yes you did.” Callum was beaming, a grin so wide it would no doubt split his face apart if he kept it on for too long.

So Ben told him just that.

“You know if the clock strikes your face’ll freeze that way.”

He felt defeated. “Look, even if I did, it don’t change anything, do it?” He balled his hands into fists by his side to keep from shaking. “You’re still too good, Callum, I’m not gonna ruin ya.”

“You’re wrong,” Callum said. “ it changes everything. It proves I was right, you’re just scared. But I’m not letting you go.” His hands closed over Ben’s, Callum’s fingers caressing them until they unfurled from their clenched position. “I’m not letting you go, Ben.” He repeated. “Whatever it is you’ve done.. I’m not sayin’ I don’t care, but we’ll get through it. You can’t deal with this on your own, it’ll break ya.”

Ben bit his tongue, turned away. “Well, whatever you’re thinking, it’s worse.”

“Your dad punched out Jack ‘cause he though he was the baby’s dad, yeah? I don’t imagine he’d let Keanu breathe when he realized.”

Ben raised his eyebrow at the matter-of-fact way the words’d been spoken. Like it was no more than a fact. With no consequences or blame or possible jail time.

“Copper like you can hardly have a boyfriend with that on his record, can he?”

Callum gave him a small and private smile. “See, the thing is…I’m not gonna be a copper no more.”

That was even worse. “Giving up your dream to be with…”

“Nah, see..” Callum interrupted him. “I’ve been thinking these past few weeks, being away from ya. ‘Bout why I wanted to be a copper in the first place. And I just… I want to help people, Ben. Be ‘of service’, like. I’m not doing that at the parlour where I just apply balm after the wounds, I wanna stop the hurt from happening in the first place.” He squeezed Ben’s hand. “I don’t wanna save people from criminals, Ben. I wanna save ‘em from themselves.”

His eyes were wide and trusting. “Like when I talked Bobby down. Or who I was before I met you. Or who you’d be if it wasn’t for ya dad. I’ve been there, I know. I think I might be good at pulling people out.”

“And I’m not perfect like you think, Ben. I’m broken same as you…”

When Ben started to protest this, he shushed him. “No I’m not. D’you wanna know how many times I still wake up from nightmares ‘bout what I did in the army?”

What? “You never…”

“Never when I’m with you.” Callum acknowledged. “Wanna know why that is, Ben? It’s ‘cause you make me feel safe. I’m not scared when I’m around you.” He smiled at him. “You do that for me.”

“Callum…”

“I’m gonna kiss you now.” Callum said, without even the slightest tremor in his voice. Only confidence and – Jesus Christ, so much love shining through. “We’re going to forget these past weeks ever happened.” He gave Ben a cheeky smile. “And you’re coming home with me tonight.”

Ben grinned. “Bit confident, are ya?”

“Got every reason to be,” Callum told him, taking the smaller man into his arms. Ben suppressed a shiver as Callum kissed the top of his nose, nuzzled the tender spot between his eyes, before pulling back. “This guy I like just told me he loves me back. Don’t need to know anything else, really.”

He paused.

“Now come ‘ere you big grizzly bear.”

The statement was followed by small laugh.

This, Ben knew, this was one of the good ones. He’d treasure the sound forever.

(Later, there’d be a discussion about how Ben in NO WAY could qualify as a ‘big grizzly bear’. Callum would tease him, attempting every pet name within the realm of possibility. He was thinking something along the lines of a fuzzy, cute koala bear. But they didn’t need to settle on anything just now, he said. They had years and years and years.)

Best Fics of 2018

Once again, this was a bumper year for fan fiction in the Sherlock BBC fandom*, with a few very long-anticipated fics coming to completion alongside some recent smash hits from established authors and even a couple of newer and lesser-known writers hitting it out of the ballpark. My picks are all, unsurprisingly, long, plotty, angsty Johnlock fics, featuring in particular post-series 4 fixits and Parentlock along with AU's, especially other professions and fusions/crossovers. What they all have in common though, is being of absolutely stellar quality not just in the technical aspects of the writing, but also the handling of themes, the character work, and the emotional impact. Any one of these could be a published book, and perhaps in the near future, some actually will be!

My caveat as always: this list is obviously skewed toward my own personal preferences and reading habits. There are plenty of other fics that I loved, and even more that I simply didn’t get around to reading (yet), so it’s not a judgment if your favorite (or one you wrote) isn’t on here. Think of this as a sampling rather than a definitive list. I hope this will help you to re-acquaint yourself with fics you loved, give a chance to others you may have skipped the first time round, and possibly discover something entirely new and astonishing.

The Men Who Talked Between the Words (439746 words) by Odamaki Rating: Explicit Relationships: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson, Mycroft Holmes/Greg Lestrade Summary: John expected to be a father some day; he expected to have the house, and the wife and the nice suburban job. Sherlock never expected to have children, in part because he never expected to make it past 30. As it turns out, you don't get a choice. Perfect by Ellen Hopkins

Warnings: The pressures attached to beauty pageants, steroid use and eating disorders are on the blurb. Rape, sexual assault, racism, homophobia, outing and suicide are also looked at. And it doesn't pull punches.

This review contains spoilers for Impulse.

Some things to be aware of going in to Perfect. This is another book that deals with some heavy topics. The pressures attached to beauty pageants, steroid use and eating disorders are on the blurb. Perfect is irrevocably linked to Impulse, they cannot we read in isolation. Impulse is a much stronger book but Perfect answers some of the lingering questions. For perspective, Perfect starts as the glass hearted bitch aka Cara and Conner's Mother is replacing the white carpet. So it is before Conner's visit in Impulse it ends after Conner's death. I was fine until page 580 then someone turned on the waterworks. They only escalated at the wake Tony and Vanessa make an appearance and man oh man that is deadly. Tony has a way with words, but we knew that.

The main characters in Perfect are Cara, Impulse protagonist Conner's twin sister. Kendra, her friend and Conner's ex-girlfriend. Sean, Cara's boyfriend. And lastly Andre, his mother is Kendra's plastic surgeon. Their arcs are possibly best summarised by the isolations on their introductory poem. Cara: "Perfect? How why where when how what." Cara is under the same familial pressures as her twin but her brother has rebelled and broken she has not. She is now questioning everything in her life, her family, her life choices and her sexuality. Kendra: "Pretty isn't good enough." Kendra is a beauty pageant queen who just wants to be perfect. She calorie counts and is willing to do anything to win. Sean: ""Built" by pain and drive." He's taking steroids to improve his appearance. Baseball and Cara are his life. Andre: "Bomb me make me vaporize". Andre is a bit of a mix of things. He is dealing with familial pressures, race and his escape is dance. Most of his story is tied to his relationship with his girlfriend Jenna (Kendra's sister).

I had issues with Impulse by the 50% point the only protagonist I was invested in was Cara. I really didn't care much for the others. Andre is a bit lost on me, I don't quite understand why his whole story was included. Yeah, Jenna is related but there isn't enough interactivity between the stories for it to fit. If it was Jenna's story? Maybe. Or it could be me, I'm Australian race and expectation play a little different here. I was fully invested in the endgame. Possibly because I only recently read Impulse and Conner was the character that destroyed me.

This had a seriously screwy timeline. It was hard to tell exactly when time was passing. Occasionally it felt like characters were in different timelines. I could deal with this in Impulse but Perfect doesn't carry the same institutional excuse. It is just really disorientating. Perfect misses something in the loss of variant formatting for multiple speaking characters within a poem. But the prose formatting still works so well. What has been included is that each time the point of view changes that poem is written in the same style and gives something of a succinct look into the head of the character. And each heading is taken from the last lines of the paragraph before. It is good and perhaps subtle at first writing. Even though I made it sound much more complicated than it is.

Regardless of how this review may read, I did enjoy Perfect but nowhere near as much as I did Impulse. If you read Impulse you need to read Perfect. It completes the story. You will also see what is coming and all those rather distressing flying analogies will hit home. Cara is the stand out character and her mother isn't humanised, which I'm glad for. But this really is only for people who read Impulse.

🍍  :    how comfortable is my muse in their body? how do they feel about their height,  weight,  strength,  and body type?  how important is being attractive to them?  

All Scanners share virtually the same physical form, and all YoRHa units use the same base endoskeleton, though the hardware differs between function. They’re short and small-framed to save the maximum amount of materials while still being able to effectively perform their duties. 9S has never felt self-conscious about himself physically because he looks almost identical to every other Scanner and there was never any pressure on any of them to look a certain way like there is with humans. They have no ability to change their height or weight (though non-YoRHa androids can do so for aesthetic purposes if they choose) and it’s forbidden by their uniform code to modify their bodies anyway. 

Since coming to Koi, 9S is quite aware now that he would be very short for a human of his apparent age, but he doesn’t feel bad about it or anything, other than occasionally being irritated at getting mistaken for a kid.

🍅  :    how does my muse feel about plastic  /  cosmetic surgeries   &   procedures?  is it something they have done or would do?  do they mind if others do it?  

As mentioned before, it’s forbidden for YoRHa units to try and alter their bodies, even if it’s for something like a tattoo or piercing. 9S doesn’t feel like he has any reason to do so right now, but that might change in the future. He doesn’t care if others do it. It’s their choice to do what they want with their bodies, as long as they understand the consequences.

🍏  :    how stable is my muse’s physical health?  do they go for regular or semi-regular checkups by a physician?  do they have any diagnosed illnesses and / or take any medication?  how often do they get sick?

9S knows maintenance is extremely important, and he is fairly accident-prone it seems. He’s had a limb or two blown off by machines more than once. Although he’s not a Healer unit, he’s gotten used to performing repairs on himself in the field and gets fussy if he has to sit around and wait while someone else fixes him up or checks him for viruses. As an android, he’s immune to biological pathogens, so there’s never any reason to worry about that. Currently he is functioning just fine.

🍎  :    how stable is my muse’s mental health?  have they been diagnosed with any mental illnesses and  /  or conditions?  do they have any undiagnosed mental illnesses and  /  or conditions?  do they or should they attend therapy?  

An android’s mind doesn’t work the same way as a human’s, but it’s still very possible for their data to get scrambled or glitched due to trauma. 9S was supposedly wiped clean after every execution, but that doesn’t mean nothing ever remained, and every time he rediscovered the true reason for his partnership with 2B it became more and more painful to confront. 

9S does an excellent job at convincing himself he’s stable, but it’s quite easy to push him over the brink. His emotions are terribly repressed so one needs only to scratch the surface to draw them out. He really should talk to somebody about this but there are no therapists on the Bunker.

🍑  :    how meticulously does my muse look after their physical appearance?  do they spend a lot of time on their hair,  makeup,  grooming,  and clothing?  is there a particular reason why they do or don’t?  

9S really likes to be clean! Although it’s not necessary for androids to bathe, since their bodies are naturally resistant to dirt and moisture and they don’t sweat, he doesn’t enjoy getting all dusty or covered in machine oil and will wash himself off the first chance he gets.  He finds being dirty very distracting. Keeping one’s dermal layer repaired is a vial part of maintenance as well, so he mends any small cuts or scuffs quickly. 

🍒  :    how much does my muse value companionship?  do they constantly keep people around them,  or do they prefer to be alone often?  do they have or desire to have many friends?  do they see every meeting as an opportunity to make a new friend?  

Although Scanners are often solitary, 9S really enjoys being around others and will eagerly socialize with other androids. If only the resistance members wouldn’t stop trying to get him to run errands for them... He’s friendly with the other Scanners and will spend time with them if they’re on the Bunker together, though they seem to hold him at arms’ length for reasons he understands now. 

2B is a special case, being his bodyguard of sorts. She could even be considered his best friend, and though his feelings of fondness for her are genuine, they’re very complicated. He’s happy she’s here. He’s also thrilled to be making so many new friends on the islands and does his best to make a good first impression, especially with humans. 

🍇  :    how would my muse describe their childhood?  how much has it impacted the person they are now,  or will become as an adult?  around what age did they or will they start to mature,  and why?  do they wish to go back to their days as a child,  or have they embraced adulthood?  

9S was ‘born’ fully-functional and did not have a childhood of any sort. He didn’t even get to shadow a senior Scanner or anything, he was thrown right to the wolves. Such as it is.

🍐  :    how intelligent is my muse overall?  are they smarter than the average person,  or less than?  are they primarily self-taught,  or did they acquire most of their knowledge in school?  are they more street smart or book smart?

Winter. Everything is buried, dormant, appearing quiet and serene on the surface.

🍌  :    is my muse inclined to help others,  or will they only do it when it benefits them,  if at all?  what makes them this way?  has it ever gotten them into trouble,  or inconvenienced them? 

9S doesn’t mind helping others, though he can get irritated if given tasks he feels will distract from his mission, or that are boring or too difficult. When it comes to helping the surface androids, they more often than not involve combat with machines and him and 2B risking their lives, which he finds completely annoying, and not fun, but he still does it anyway.

🍊  :    does my muse desire romance?  is it something they would actively seek out,  or prefer to happen more  ‘  naturally?  ’  what is their love life like?  do they have any exes or past flings,  or crushes?  

Relationships between YoRHa units are officially banned, though the rule is not enforced very strictly. 9S has a hard time comprehending the complexity of romance and prefers not to think about it, perhaps unconsciously convinced he doesn’t deserve to have anybody feel that way about him. 

🍓  :    how is my muse typically seen by others?  does it ring true to who they really are?  does their reputation matter to them? 

I would imagine, based on his youthful appearance and friendly, earnest demeanor, a lot of people would assume he’s a lot more naive than he really is. 9S lacks a lot of knowledge about how modern society functions, but that’s because he arrived 6,000 years too late to the party. He picks up on things extremely quickly and is quite socially perceptive. Fitting in is important to him, having come from such a conformist culture as YoRHa. 

🥝  :    does my muse have any  ‘  unusual  ’  habits, interests,  and  /  or talents?  do they hide it,  or are they proud of it?  

9S is more interested in human culture than most Scanners and especially enjoys collecting human-created media, particularly music, which he stores on his Pod and plays when he’s out scouting. He’s had a great time in Koi renting movies from the library, because entertainment options back home were extremely limited. He’s also gotten into fishing because of 2B.

🍋  :    what kind of diet does my muse have?  do they eat regularly,  or the standard 2-3 meals a day?  do they have to be reminded to eat,  or are they likely to remind others?  do they cook,  or have others cook for them?  do they eat healthily,  or not so much?  

As an android, 9S doesn’t require food to live. He can’t feel hunger or satiation. YoRHa units are powered entirely by the reactors in their black boxes, which only require water to function. Most of the time they can get all the fuel they need from vapor in the air they breathe, though in dry climates they’d need to find a water source. 

However, eating is an important communal activity, so they have a limited ability to do so. They don’t have stomachs or digestive systems. Any matter they consume is incinerated as soon as it’s swallowed. As a Scanner, 9S can analyze the chemical makeup of things he tastes, so he’s always putting weird shit in his mouth just to see what it’s made of. He enjoys eating with others, especially after difficult missions. It’s relaxing, even if the food is usually terrible because nobody has proper ingredients.

🥭  :    how important to my muse is their hometown,  or where they’re from?  are they proud of it,  or considered a hometown hero? did they move away,  or do they wish to?

9S doesn’t have a hometown, unless the orbital base he was manufactured on counts. He doesn’t like spending extended amounts of time there, because there’s not much to do, but returning is often required in order to meet with the commander and receive mission details. It’s kinda nice to be able to look down at Earth from space, though...

What is an Autoclave

Dental Sterilizers or autoclave is a disinfection and sterilization instrument. It uses high temperature and high pressure steam to sterilize the germs, bacteria, spores on the contaminated dental equipments.

The principle of autoclave- The boiling point of water is directly proportional to pressure, when volume is constant. In an autoclave chamber the pressure is increased to 15 psi and the temperature rises to 121°c. The temperature and pressure are maintained for 15-20 minutes which helps eliminate the microorganism from the dental equipments.

A vacuum is created in the sterilization chamber, and steam generated in the internal unit is sent by a pressurized blast. This is the most accurate type of dental sterilizer.

The newest release on Pacific Rhythm comes from the duo of Dust-e-1 and Priori, otherwise known as ANF, and marks the second time the Vancouver label has collaborated with the Montreal-based NAFF crew (see last year’s incredible Urth Born by Ex-Terrestrial, especially the soaring DnB future jazz of “Everybody Dreams”). Following on from Visions (S.T.T.G), the Mauna Kea EP sees ANF serving up rolling breakbeat magic, loved up four-four stomps, acid bass percolations, ravey house burners, and oceanic downtempo nod outs, with atmospheres flowing from hands-in-the-air radiance to dark nightscape sensuality. And the sound design is incredible, with huge throbbing bass sonics working the mind and body into a state of throwback euphoria while cool cut-up vocal samples, LSD angel choirs, ecstasy melodies, psychedelic color modulations, ethnological hand-drum patterns, and glowing pad hazes surround jacked out trance rhythms and aquatic chill-out breaks.

ANF - Mauna Kea EP (Pacific Rhythm, 2019) The title track begins with balmy swells and euphoria melodies shrouded in haze, while subarmine pings move through outerspace feedback clusters. A skipping lo-fi breakbeat emerges, comprised of double-time tambourines, air-cracking snares, and haunted voices that weave between dub-delay drum rolls. Then we drop into the main rhythm, which sees hard-hitting four-to-the-floor house hypnotics meeting nostalgic breakdance energies and hissing hi-hat breaths moving through propulsive double-time patterns. The synth swells that begin the track develop into eternally looping chordscapes that sometimes quiver on the verge of orgasm, and at other times filter-morph and detune wildly. Deep flubbing basslines jack upwards as ecstasy atmospheres hover in place and ANF dazzle the mind with vibed out rhythmic switch ups, heady fills, and psychedelic delay. Percolating acid lines fade in from celestial depths…these electronic balls of vibrating energy that move through hypnotic modulations and bubble trance vocalisms in a way not unlike Bicep’s epic “Back 2 U.” Subaqueous feedback pings and slithering space fluids drop in and out until we return to the lo-fi breakbeat glide, with mirage synth melodies growing ever more hallucinogenic and powerful. Then, as the crushing rhythms and throbbing cosmic basslines drop back in, the effect is like trancing out in a neon futureworld or cruising on starbeams through pulsating clouds of galactic dust.

Fat bottomed b-boy breaks and panning sequences comprised of sea-spray diamond tones introduce us to “Chi-Motion,” while tremolo morphing waveforms and starshine acid trails dance together. Ethereal pads wash in then float through melancholic chord progressions and eventually, the rhythms grow deeply hypnotic as chest-caving bass pulsations and sensual sub-sonic slides enter. Psychedelic filter sequences push the mind towards bliss and clipped voice samples bring a kind of 90s ambient and chill out nostalgia evoking The Orb and especially Boards of Canada…a world of dayglo VHS haze with child-like voices and hushed breaths looping and slamming downbeat jams splashing through tropical island dreamrealms. Sometimes ANF back the track down into pure sections of rhythm, all loved up breakbeat magic, intensely physical drum pressure, and soft accompaniments of blue ocean crystals fluttering in the air.  Elsewhere, we float freely on deep bass pulsations and machine tom percolations, before transitioning into an ambient driftscape where minimal hand drum pulses are submerged within a sea of synth pad hypnotism. And as we move towards the end, alien vibrato patterns soar across the sky and synthetic waves crash onto a paradise shores.

The introduction of “State/Function” revels in heatwave mirage synthesis, desert daydreams, and mystical atmospherics while liquid-soaked rimshots clatter across the spectrum. Towering sub-bass thumps bring shadow energies and sinister vibrations as a rolling four-four breakbeat enters, with linear jacking kicks and vibing off-time snare, hi-hat, and tambourine patterns. Ghostly pads continue their black haze whirlpool…like an alien orchestra locked into a swooning phaser fantasia while far-out raps and unintelligible scats are cut-up and looped into a propulsive vocal dream tapestry. Strange dial-tone melodies pulse wildly and move through descending progressions and as the sub-bass synths and kick drums fade out, we are left afloat in a haunted haze of deep blue and glowing purple, wherein skittering voice samples and psychoactive sound waves fade in from nothingness. Once the smashing rhythms return, they carry the body away to a chugging realm of dark rave magic, while industrial shaker patterns constructed from tranced out static sequences and cold expanses of synth pad melancholia wrap around the mind.

Perhaps my favorite cut here is “Mary Lynne,” which starts with swirling gemstone smears and polychromatic wave motions. Oceanic harps sit at the center of the universe and let forth plucked tones of eternal crystal that are eventual smeared out into a sort of whale song bassline. Ethno-drums and double-time cymbal taps roll as energetic “come on” samples hit at just the right moments, all before ANF drop one of the coolest breakbeats of the year, adorned by technoid futurisms, Kraftwerk-ian electronics, and gurgling bubbles of acid brass. Heavenly choirs flow out from mermaid kingdoms, LSD voices flash side-to-side, and classical cut-up vocal trance fx surf on tremolo waves while emotive synth melodies flutter softly…the track reveling in the same sort of sci-fi breakbeat hypnotism and alien rainforest spiritualism explored by Future Sound of London, with the comparison all the more appropriate as sprightly pan-pipes dance through a jungle weaving of dream threads and intertwining hallucinations. During a moment where the kick drums and acid bass gurgles recede, filter-blasted electro rhythms glide beneath a panorama of mutating voice vapors and radiant angel hypnotics. And as we drop again into the futuristic breakbeat storm, with sketchy kraut electronics merging with old skool chill-out rhythmics, the mellifluous voice layers begin ascending ever higher towards ethereal cloudlands and colorburst paradises.

So do you see the news on Ky eye to be a hint at an install or a mechanic to kick at low health?

To talk about that is to talk about "Awakened (Kakusei) Ky" and "Gold/Boss Ky" throughout the series, and in particular Guilty Gear Isuka!

First, understand that, on a basic mechanical level, Dragon Install was never actually meant to serve “exclusively” as a comeback mechanic.

It’s a transformation mechanic, it’s just a means to change things up, or alter a character’s fighting style (somewhat like Tira’s Jolly and Gloomy personalities in Soul Calibur).

In the old days we had EX Mode, Slash and Bust in Samurai Shodown, alternate fighting styles meant to keep our opponents on their toes (because let’s face it, having the same fighting style after a while gets stale, and people learn to anticipate and read that style over time).

Let’s talk a bit about Awakened Ky’s attacks:

Ky had an enhanced Stun Edge that was fully charged right off the bat... this meant you always had to be wary or block it, plus it had the same speed as a normal Stun Edge, meaning less recovery, so Ky could easily continue his pressure.

Next we have Needle Spike, which is Ky’s version of Bandit Revolver, it hits multiple times, and Ky can even transition in to a more powerful version of Greed Sever (his version of Bandit Bringer) at any time in later games.  It was tricky to read on block, and relatively safe too.

Next is Impala Hunt or Grand Vapor Thrust, it’s fast, it goes under projectiles, it crosses people up... it’s a LOW, and it does serious damage and works good in Ky’s knockdown combos.

Next is Crescent Slash (or Inverse Crescent if you like Prototype Robo-Ky), it works much the same as Greed Sever, but is a ton faster and has a good vertical hitbox.  In GGXPlus, this move could also be done in the air an unlimited number of times, it was crazy!

Elegant Slash, Ky’s command throw equivalent to Sol’s Wild Throw.  It’s sudden, it breaks their guard, and can easily be combo’d in to!

Enhanced Vapor Thrust... this ain’t your grandaddy’s Vapor Thrust, this move is more than a reversal... it hits several times in the air and causes WALL BOUNCE to extend combos.  Imagine if Ky had Lighting Javelin included in this auto-attack combination?  He’d be just like Ragna in BlazBlue!

Enhanced Aerial Stun Edge... now imagine this sucker, plus GRINDERS from Xrd... now imagine Aerial Sacred Edge ENHANCED by Durandal Call in mid air!

Scary aerial DOMINANCE!

Ray Divider... classic move, space control, combos in to itself, especially in the corner, now imagine Ky setting Split Ciel pressure to ENHANCE it!  Now imagine Ky using his Forcebreak from Accent Core Lightning Sphere > Charged Drive and wall sticking you, or blasting you through the corner with it!

Vertical Sacred Edge, a literal shockwave of Lightning, it’s so powerful it vacuums up other characters and clears the screen.  It’s so broken in Isuka, but oh so very useful when you’re surrounded.  Leopaldon can’t even touch you.

Now imagine this sucker getting enhanced by Durandal Call from Xrd... you cannot NOT block, or you WILL get HIT!

EX Ride the Lightning, virtually TOTALLY SAFE projectile on block, has a huge hitbox, can be done on the ground or in the air... and can easily be combo’d in to!

Tyrant Rave Beta can eat its heart out!

Finally, Ky’s vertical RTL called “Aces High” (or Aegis High if you like mispronouncing things).  Huge vertical rush, while it can be unsafe if its blocked, if you have enough forward momentum when starting it, they can’t catch you on landing recovery.

Also ideal for when you’re surrounded in Isuka, meaning Ky is dangerous both far away AND up close!

Now imagine Ky had an enhanced ultra-fast RTL that was omni-directional like Sin Kiske’s, made SEVERAL passes, immune to projectiles, had auto-armor, and was multi-hit... you could get crossed up and it would be OVER.

The only “real” drawback Awakened Ky had was that he got dizzy every couple seconds, leaving him vulnerable.  That’s very similar to the drawbacks involved with Dragon Install of course.

But can you even IMAGINE how dangerous Ky would be with all these enhancements pushed to their maximum?

And don’t get me started on the “homing” Sacred Edge Ky’s boss form had in M.O.M. mode in XrdRev2!  Guard damage out the wazoo, cannot be dodged, and Baiken can no longer parry it because Baiken got nerfed.  The only answer is Aegis Field on “reaction”!  Ugh...

Well, food for thought!
