Excited to share the short story I wrote for "Star-Crossed: An Anidala Zine" @anidalazine ! A "Padme Lives" AU
Words: 2,585 * Read on AO3
******************************
Padmé Naberrie Amidala, former Queen of Naboo, former Galactic Senator, and current member of the Rebellion, had been in her share of tight spots before.
But this was the first time the tight spot was an Imperial holding cell.
She’d already examined every inch of the enclosed dimly-lit space, searching for a weakness she could exploit, but found none. There was no access panel, no loose wiring, and no ventilation system large enough for her to squeeze through. So Padmé sat on the bench and watched the door, working on what she would say when an officer inevitably came to interrogate Sola Minnau.
After all, Padmé Amidala was dead.
For a while, Padmé thought she was dead. The galaxy around her swirled in hot reds and blues, then cold blacks and whites. Grief so raw it threatened to tear her apart, pain unlike any she had experienced, then stillness. Such perfect, silent stillness. She was weightless, drifting through some gentle embrace where there was no pain. No suffering.
It was the babies’ cries that called her back.
Once she was well enough to sit upright, she held her children close to her. Leia had Padmé’s eyes; Luke had Anakin’s. She was given privacy to cry. And once she had no more tears to shed, she set to work.
Padmé contacted Sabé, and her dearest friend organized the rest. Gathering Padmé’s former handmaidens, they worked swiftly to organize a body double and a funeral, and before long, the people of Naboo mourned the death of Padmé Amidala.
Heart aching but determined, Padmé had agreed to have her children separated – from her, and from each other. Having lost Anakin, Palpatine would turn his interest to the children if he knew they lived. Obi-Wan disappeared into the Outer Rim with Luke, and Bail falsified Leia’s birth records and took her into his home.
Over the years, Padmé – Sola Minnau, now – worked closely with Bail, Mon Mothma, and other trusted allies, establishing contacts, supply lines, and information networks. They smuggled food and medicine to communities being bled dry by the Empire, and helped those in danger disappear, all while trying to bolster support to resist the ever-growing dominance of the Empire over all worlds.
They all knew the risks. If they were caught, they could be subject to execution, or worse. But Padmé couldn’t stop. She would help, no matter the cost. She had spent her childhood on relief missions with her father, and she hadn’t been able to stand by while her people suffered when she was queen. She wouldn’t hide now.
That’s the thought that kept her focused when the contact on Rodia ended up being an Imperial informant. They had barely greeted each other before Padmé was surrounded by stormtroopers. Padmé had kept quiet, giving only her pseudonym when they initially questioned her. The troopers marched her onto a shuttle, and once they’d boarded the Star Destroyer in orbit, she’d been taken to a holding cell.
She took a deep breath and leaned back against the cold wall. In the twelve years since the fall of the Republic, Padmé had never been taken aboard a capital ship. With no communication or resources, help wasn’t coming. Padmé was on her own.
The door of the holding cell hissed open. She stood as a towering black-clad figure stepped in. Coarse, mechanical breathing filled the room; Padmé forced down a shudder. They had never crossed paths, but she recognized him from endless holos and horror stories, from the expressionless helmeted mask, from the lightsaber hanging from his belt.
Darth Vader.
*
Darth Vader’s breath would have hitched if his respirator hadn’t dragged the air from his lungs and reinflated them automatically. His heart would have stopped if the cardiac regulator hadn’t measured out steady heartbeats. The servos in his legs whirred as the galaxy was swept from under his feet and he nearly fell to his knees, so overcome with the emotions that suddenly raged inside him.
Padmé was alive. Alive, breathing, not five feet away.
No, that couldn’t be. She was dead. Vader had observed her funeral on Naboo, had mourned at her tomb. This was some trick, some deception meant to rattle him; the Emperor himself was likely behind this, testing Vader’s resolve. What was this trickery then? A PROXY droid? A Force Apparition? A Changeling? Perhaps a handmaiden?
But as Vader and his dead wife stared at one another, he shakily reached out with the Force, and felt – Padmé. Her existence thrummed in the Force, whole and strong, with that same vibrance he remembered from so long ago.
But she’d never looked at him like this. Anger burning in her eyes, resolve in the set of her lips, defiance in her stance. He’d seen her look at others like this and he’d admired her dedication and determination. But to have her glaring at him now, with loathing and defiance… he felt unsettled.
Padmé didn’t waste time. “On what grounds was I arrested?” she demanded. “It’s unlawful to take a citizen into custody without disclosing the nature of the supposed criminal activity.”
The current Admiral of The Executor had been so smug when he’d approached Vader to announce that a rebel insurgent had been captured. Vader had strode to the detention block, flanked by two stormtroopers, ready to wring out all the information he could from the rebel scum –
Of course she would be with the Rebellion. The Empire was the very thing that she had been so concerned about creating during the Clone Wars.
He forced himself to speak. “Conspiracy against the Empire.” His synthesized voice rang out in the enclosed space, so warped and pitched that she would never realize who she spoke to.
But did he really want her to know? Did he want Padmé to know what became of Anakin Skywalker? To see this broken, twisted husk of what remained? Would she want to know? Vader had killed Anakin Skywalker, had carved out everything that remained of the naïve Jedi, everything that Padmé had loved, until only Vader remained.
She was speaking, and Vader said nothing. He just… listened to her voice, bringing to mind memories of her practicing her speeches the night before important Senate sessions, as he half-listened, so happy that the Force had their paths cross all those years ago in Watto’s shop –
Fury burned in Vader’s core and he let it fester, let it burn away at the memories of the man he had killed. He turned his head, addressing the two stormtroopers standing in the cramped cell just behind him. “Leave us.”
Hastily, the troopers filed out, the door sliding closed behind them.
His breathing filled the silence; Padmé had stopped talking when Vader spoke. He felt her fear, though it did not show on her face.
“Do you have nothing to say?”
She had come to him on Mustafar, knowing what he’d done. Even as she betrayed me, she loved me.
It was the last thing she said to him; Vader heard it in his nightmares, sometimes. “Stop, stop now, come back. I love you. Anakin…”
Grief welled in him, and he spoke before he could stop himself. “I thought I lost you.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. We’ve never met.”
“You were alive, I knew you were, but I felt – I felt our bond break.” His emotions roiled through him. “You were gone, he said –“
Hatred .
“He said I killed you,” Vader rumbled. “He said I killed you in a fit of anger, and when I couldn’t sense you, I believed him. The Emperor lied to me. He’s kept you from me all these years, knowing that I –”
That he what? Would have left Emperor Palpatine’s side? That he would run away with his long-lost wife? That he would kill her?
Padmé’s eyes had gone wide, frightened, incredulous as she stared at him. In a small voice, so quiet he almost didn’t hear: “…Anakin?”
The anguish threatened to consume him.
“Anakin Skywalker is dead.” He paused. “I…am what remains.”
She stared at him for so long, so silently, that Vader wondered if this might be a dream after all. “What…what happened?”
“It is because of Obi-Wan that I am like this,” he hissed.
“No! He would never hurt you! He loved you –”
“Enough! I don’t need to hear empty assurances.”
Fear lingered in her eyes, but that spark had returned. “If you can’t believe he loved you, what about our love?”
“I loved you more than I can ever express. I did everything for you – I would continue to do anything for you – ”
“Except come with me.”
“You brought Obi-Wan to kill me.”
“No! I didnt know! I didn’t know he’d snuck aboard my ship.” And Vader was startled to hear the truth of her words reverberate in the Force. Taking a hesitant step forward, Padmé’s eyes flickered between the lenses of his mask, as though trying to see through them. “All I wanted was you. For us to be safe, and happy. We didn’t need anything else. Even…even after everything you did…”
“It was necessary. To bring order to the galaxy, to gain powers of the Force that would save –” Vader stopped abruptly. “The child. Does the child live?”
She bristled, and that was all the answer he needed.
He turned from her, but he didn’t see the cold cell around them. He saw a child splashing in the lakes of Naboo, Padmé laughing as she chased them, and Anakin Skywalker watched them from the grass, smiling and happy, whole and unburnt.
And then his vision clouded with red, and black, and Darth Vader’s fury returned, wiping out the scene of peace that had been stolen from him. Because it had been stolen from him. If he had never pledged himself to the Emperor, never razed the Jedi Temple, never succumbed to the Dark Side, if the Emperor hadn’t lied to him about Padmé’s death…
“Anakin?”
He jolted out of his seething reverie. Padmé’s expression was carefully controlled, but Vader could sense her unease, her fear, her… hope.
Her steady voice held more gentleness than he deserved. “What happens now?”
Now, the Emperor would die. Now, Vader would have revenge. Now…
He turned on his heel and waved his hand, the cell door opening, harsh white light spilling into the dim space.
“Bring her,” he commanded.
The stormtroopers moved immediately, pulling Padmé from her cell and marching her behind him. He could feel her eyes boring into the back of his helmet, but he didn’t turn around. If he took the time to explain, he might lose his nerve.
And neither Darth Vader nor Anakin Skywalker ever lost their nerve.
*
Padmé wanted to cry. She wanted to curl into the corner of some isolated place and sob her heart out. Instead, she raised her chin and walked as upright as she could as the stormtroopers escorted her behind the towering Sith.
How had the man she loved become the most feared monster in the galaxy?
She had believed, all those years ago, that there was still good in Anakin, even as he turned his back on everything he believed because he thought it would save her. But when Obi-Wan said that Anakin was dead –
Obi-Wan. Did he know that Anakin lived? Did he know what had become of his best friend? Had Obi-Wan lied to her about Anakin’s death, the way the Emperor lied to Anakin? No, she couldn’t believe that. He had been nearly as distraught as her. He couldn’t have known.
With all her heart, Padmé wanted to believe that there was still some sliver of good left in the creature that was Darth Vader; some glimmer of Anakin that she could recognize. But the horrific things that Vader had done… She watched the Imperials scatter from him in fear as Vader led her through the maze of corridors. How many had he killed? Tortured? He continued to hunt down surviving Jedi, relentlessly pursued Rebel insurgents, left ruins in his wake.
Could there really be good left in such a man?
She had to believe there was.
The corridor opened to a hanger bay. TIE fighters, small cargo ships, and shuttles lined the platform; technicians, pilots, deck crew, officers, and troopers moved in tightly organized groups, or else with purpose from one task to another. Darth Vader ignored them all, heading straight for a shuttle.
Technicians tending to the shuttle tripped over themselves as they leapt to attention.
“Lord Vader! We weren’t informed of a scheduled departure –”
“An apt statement, as I don’t often operate on schedules.” The man flinched. “I have need of my shuttle. Is it suitable?”
“Yes, my lord! It has been returned to your specifications.”
As the deck crew hurriedly cleared away their equipment, Padmé couldn’t help a twinge of familiarity; of course Anakin would be particular about his ship. So that, at least, had remained.
Darth Vader stood at the landing ramp and faced her. The troopers shoved her forward. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw his hand twitch. But he didn’t strike. Instead, he stepped in front of them. “That will be all.”
“Sir?” one of them asked confusedly.
“I am not accustomed to repeating myself.” The low, warning tone sent a shiver up Padmé’s spine.
“Yessir,” the other said hastily, stepping back. The first trooper went to speak, thought better of it, and followed his fellow soldier.
Darth Vader’s shadow fell over her as she walked into the ship. Despite the size of the shuttle, there wasn’t much room inside; half the interior was taken up by some spherical mechanism, like a ball-shaped chamber.
“What’s happening?” she asked, doing her best to keep her tone calm.
Instead of answering, Vader swept past her, cape billowing behind him as he strode to the cockpit. “Strap in until we enter hyperspace.”
Her stomach flipped. Where was he taking her? Why didn’t he bring any guards along? Tense, she lowered herself into a seat and adjusted the safety harness. Darth Vader – Anakin – no, she couldn’t think of him as Anakin – Vader sat in the pilot's seat, expertly flipping switches and adjusting controls until the ship hummed to life.
The harsh white of the hanger bay ended as they emerged into the blackness of space. She could just spy Rodia through the viewport as Vader turned the ship and input coordinates. Coordinates to where? Within moments, the stars warped and stretched, before slingshotting them into the blue-white of hyperspace.
Gathering herself, Padmé undid the harness and stood. Vader made no movement as she walked into the cockpit. Even when she stood beside him, he didn’t turn to look at her. She gazed out the viewport feeling like she was hurtling towards –
“I will take you anywhere you want to go.”
A breath escaped Padmé. “What?”
Vader said nothing.
“You’re –” she sat heavily in a little-used copilots chair. “You’re helping me escape?”
“You will be interrogated as a Rebel spy. You may be tortured, or killed. And if the Emperor discovered your identity, he may take personal interest.”
After a long moment he added softly, “I cannot lose you again.”
With a trembling hand, she reached over and touched the side of that black mask. Finally, he turned to face her. It may have been a trick of the lenses, but for just a moment, she thought she saw his eyes illuminated in the light of hyperspace. Anakin’s eyes. Luke’s eyes.
“Come with me.”

"Anakin!"
It went so fast Vader had no time to react. One moment, he heard her voice as clear as the day he thought he had snuffed out her light. The next, familiar slender arms were flung around his shoulders; tiny hands clinging to his hefty cape. She weighed nothing, her feet dangling in the air as she held onto him. By habit, one strong arm closed around her waist to support her small frame.
"Anakin," she breathed, unfazed by his bulk, or his horrifying face plate, or the neck piece digging into her soft cheek.
Vader felt as if his knees may buckle beneath him, his free hand awkwardly closing and releasing. He couldn't think, his head swimming and what little remained of his own body trembling. She was supposed to be dead, yet here she was.
Her clothes were dirty, her hair loose and messy. The same old trusty blaster in her holster, the same fierce defiance in her hazel eyes.
Vader was supposed to denounce the name she was speaking, he wasn't supposed to respond to it any longer. He had cut all ties to his past.
Still, when spoken in her tender voice, he couldn't. All he managed to do was pull her closer to his chest, his heart aching and his eyes burning. If he could have, he would have wept out of relief. He didn't deserve her. Yet, here she was.
Safe.
Alive.
"Padmé," he said, even his monotone vocoder able to convey the reverent awe behind the utterance.
She had come back for him.

Name Your Contract
Summary: The powerful demon, Darth Vader, has been summoned to the mortal realm to form a contract with a human. A woman with large brown eyes that unsettle him.
-.-.-.-.-
Preview
There was a hissing sound as the glowing red lines of the summoning circle started to boil and smoke filled the air. A dark figure rose out of the ground from the center. Bat-like wings unfurled and flared out as a tail whipped around, and black arms that ended in low claws stretched. On top of the head were two horns, long and curved almost making a complete circle. It was a broken halo. A fallen angel.
A demon.
The demon opened his glowing golden eyes that were ringed in red. The black-slitted irises focused on her. The demon hissed and snarled showing off sharp pointed teeth.
"Why have you summoned me, mortal?" a deep voice boomed out.
Padme's hand clenched at the fabric over her heart as her breath got caught in her throat.
It couldn't be him. He was nothing like Anakin.
"Name your contract," he growled.
His clawed toes dug into the wood of the wood as he barred his teeth at her.
Tears stung at her eyes, but she did not let them fall.

A Star Wars/Dracula AU
After passing many days listening to Love Song for a Vampire from Annie Lennox and thinking about how the lyrics suit Anidala perfectly, I decided to write down a AU idea (a Vaderdala one, to be more specific) that has already been in my mind for some time, inspired by the same plot of the movie Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992).
//----------------------//-----------------------//
A long time ago, the young Anakin Skywalker was once a powerful knight of the Ancient Jedi Order and one of the bravest warriors of the Naboo army, known for leading and comanding thousands of battalions in bloody wars for the conquest of territories, fighting for the protection of the Jedi Temple and spreading their holy influence.
Secretly married to the ruler of the kingdom Queen Amidala, the woman who owned his heart and soul and who he loved against all social rules and the sacred code of the religious order which he grew to respect, obey and defend, they both planned to run away to a place where they wouldn't be forced to lie and hide their feelings for each other ever again.
Sadly, weeks after Anakin was called to the battlefield again, an arrow from the enemy army was shot towards the castle, sending a false message that the Jedi were defeated and the lands of Naboo were invaded. Heartbroken for believing her beloved had died in combat, the Queen writes a goodbye letter, telling she would join him soon in Heaven and their souls would be finally united by God for all eternity, before jumping from the highest tower of the castle and falling into the river, drowing.
When Anakin returned and discovered what happened, her letter was already found and her body brought to the altar of the Temple. The Jedi told him that since she took her own life, her soul couldn't be safe and, therefore, she was eternally cursed. With the revelation of their marriage, Anakin was expelled from the Order and condemned to exile. Before he left, Anakin screamed in agony and promised he would come back from the dead to avenge his love.
Feeling abandoned and betrayed after having everything he devoted all his life to build taken from him - his name, his glory and his love - Anakin's heart, full of rage, grief and despair, chose to rejoice the light and succumb to the darkness. On his way, he's found by Sheev Palpatine - also known as Darth Sidious -, Supreme Lord of the Sith Empire and greatest enemy of the Jedi. Instead of killing the former knight, Sidious, tempted by Anakin's abilities and the burning hate that was consuming him, promised to teach the young man about the secrect arts of dark magic, including the precious gift of deceiving death, as long as he pleaged himself to him. Anakin accepted his offer and became his apprentice. He turned against the Jedi Order and, as act of revenge, helped Sidious to destroy their temple and hunt down all their members, later killing his new master as well and taking the lead of his empire.
As years went by, the fallen knight, now known as the mighty Darth Vader, started to realize that the power he so longed for actually possessed him so deeply to the point of becoming a curse, a eternal punishment. He didn't age anymore. The sunlight burned his skin. His body was pale and cold. No food or drink was enough to satisfy his appetite. His heart stopped beating. He was still alive somehow, but he looked and felt dead. He lived a human life surrouded by blood and death before, and now, blood and death are the only things he would have in his new life. Forever. As a lonely monster... a creature of shadows... still waiting for the day when the spirit of his wife, his angel, would come back to him.
Centuries later, Lord Vader, living isolated in his imposing domain on the top of the dark mountains of Mustafar, finds out that his long deceased queen is now reincarnated as a spiritous and intelligent, and equally beautiful, woman called Padme Naberrie, who is currently engaged to Palo, an young man whose name was beginning to receive attention in the art world and, at first, was hired by Vader to create a new piece to decorate his home. After seeing a small photo of Padme carried by Palo in his pocket, Vader decides to kidnap the artist and keep him captive in his castle while he travels to Coruscant to find the lady he believes to be his soulmate and make her his once again. And in the exact moment their paths cross and their eyes find each other in the middle of the streets, it feels like no time had passed at all. It was like their love was strong enough to make him feel human again. And to make her feel more alive than she ever did before.
But the dark lord's plans are threatened when Palo escapes from his prison, barely with life, and a sudden wave of mysterious murders starts to ravage the territory, apparently all caused by the same creature: a devilish, bloodthirsty beast. All the dead bodies of the victims have one detail in common: two little fang marks on their necks. Since no one is capable to understand the cause of all this killing, Ben Kenobi, famous scientist, teacher and monster hunter, is called to solve this case, but what the old man doesn't expect is that this investigation will lead him to finally face his cruelest opponent, the same monster he's been chasing for all those years.
//-----------------------//----------------------//
So it's basically this. Hope you all enjoyed 😘 I'm not sure if this story would end like in the movie or in a totally different way. What do you think? 😄
And to be sure no one gets confused:
Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader as Prince Vlad Tepes/Count Dracula
Queen Amidala/Padme Naberrie as Princess Elisabetha/Wilhelmina 'Mina' Murray
Palo as Jonathan Harker
Obi Wan 'Ben' Kenobi as Abraham Van Helsing
(Palpatine's character doesn't exist in the original plot, I just tried to find a way to include him in the story)

Not Everything is what it seems (first draft)
Tumblr media
My thoughts: So what I think it needs is some extra detail, an added scene with Obi-Wan with the twins and Obi realizing she's been captured, how she was captured, what happened before, ect, ect. If there's anything you all think I should add either if it's the ideas I listed or your own let me know!
Concerns: My biggest worry is that Padmé seems like a damsel in destress and that's exactly what I'm trying not to write her as. So that's why I need some help! And contructive criticism. Sooo in others words let me know your thoughts!
Summary: For the past 5 years Padmé Skywalker thought Anakin Skywalker was dead. That was until she was captured by the infamous Darth Vader. He revleas something…unsettling. The question is what will she do now? How will they go from here? And what's going to happen to Obi-Wan and the twins?
Word Count: 1,517
Characters: Padmé Amidala, Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader
Padmé’s POV
He had captured me, Darth Vader. The stormtroopers lead me to a cell, shoving me to the ground. “Rebel scrum,” One of them muttered. I was still handcuffed so getting up wasn’t as easy as I would like it to be.
I knelt on the ground, I placed both of my hands on that said knee and lifted myself up. I looked up to a bed,  it looked hard, cold, stone cold even but there was a flat pillow with barely any fluff in it and a thin blanket. I walked over to the bed and layed down. I layed in the fetal position to keep my body warm, it didn’t help that the blanket was as thin as paper. I kept telling myself I wouldn’t give up, I wouldn’t let them break me. I hoped and prayed that Luke and Leia were safe, Obi please protect them. My knees were against my chest as the warmth of my skin was the only thing that brought me comfort. I was worried about the twins but despite this I managed to fall into a deep sleep.
***
“Wake up Rebel.” One of the stormtroopers yelled. My eyes immediately shot up despite this fact I felt dazed and drained. I moved over and my legs reached the ground. Apparently I wasn’t moving fast enough and the other grabbed my shoulder and moved me forward. He switched from holding my shoulder to holding my arm and he continued to push me forward. They walked me out of my cell to the end of the hallway where Darth Vader stood tall. But despite this I kept my chin held high, I will not let them break me. I marched towards that vile man, I will not let him win. He may have captured me but certainly has not won this battle not yet at least.
“Darth Vader, only you can be so bold.” I announced loudly.
“Really? I’m the bold one?” He says almost like he’s mocking me.
“You're mocking me!”
“Indeed I am, you two may leave us.” The stormtroopers left without another word. Why does this remind me of that day at the lake retreat? Anakin…he always liked to make me laugh and mock me just to make me laugh with some sarcasm thrown in the loop as well. I missed him so much. I snapped myself out of those thoughts. I cannot think about him no matter how much I miss after what he did to me, to the Republic, the Jedi, I can’t.
“What do you want with me?”
He avoided the question as he paced and circled around me, he stepped closer and whispered in my ear “What were you doing?”
“I was on a diplomatic mission to Naboo.” I retorted back. “Stop antagonizing me! You will not get away with this I am apart of the imperial senate-”
“Oh stop lying, there’s no point. I already know.”
“Know what exactly?”
“That your a rebel, a rebel leader. And if I’m honest with you I can’t have that.”
“Because that wouldn’t be good for your empire.”
“Quite the contrary, or the opposite.”
Once again he whispers almost touching my ear, I felt a shiver crawl up my spine as he did this “I can’t have my wife, or empress fighting on the wrong side.” I felt the wind being knocked out of me. It couldn’t be. No. He would never. Right? No no no this couldn’t be happening. “Oh but it is,” He whispers back. I whip my head around meeting his gaze. “And I’ll prove it,”  Vader touches his mask, pressing two buttons which reveal his face.
My world already crumbled when Anakin fell, when the Republic fell, when democracy fell, and when the Jedi fell and yet my world was crumbling once again. Who could have possibly made me feel this way? Ani, my Ani. What have you become? How did we come to this? …5 years ago, I thought Anakin was dead. I was very wrong. But now here we are, 5 years later I’ve discovered he’s been alive this whole time. He was towering over me, smirking, as if he had won, he was relishing in the fact he found me. He must have thought I had been dead. But I just don’t understand why he is smirking at me. Does he think I’m afraid of him? That’ll cower in fear? What does he get out of this? What’s the point of this madness? But then I think to myself it isn’t because he thinks I’m afraid it's because he’s pleased that he’s finally found me. He thinks he’s won. Right?
As much as I tried to hide my shock and horror I could not.
“Do you really think that lowly of me, Angel?” I snapped out of my thoughts, I looked up at him in confusion. My brows furrowed in confusion, “What?” I questioned.
Anakin turns his head to the side, looking me up and down. He strides towards me making eye contact. I felt a cold breeze, it felt as if something was crawling up my spine. I will not be scared. Not of him. Not Darth Vader. No one. But especially Ani, my beloved Ani. I can’t help but feel there’s still good in him. I have to hope there is. He continued eye contact as he continued to approach me. Once we were inches apart he murmured “I can hear your thoughts, they’re quite loud.” I felt horrified. But most of all betrayed.
“You promised you would never read my thoughts.” I cried.
“I did. But I wasn’t reading them intentionally. It’s more echos in the force, different things. If I reach out I can hear and feel bits and pieces of your emotions and thoughts. I’m not technically reading them.”
I couldn’t hold back the tears anymore, they flowed down my face like one of the springs from Naboo. “I thought you were dead, for years I thought I had lost you.”
Anakin’s piercing blue eyes stared into my brown ones. “I thought I lost you too.”
“Why did you go with him? You didn’t need to hurt all of those people for me.”
“Yes I did!” Anakin snapped. “I couldn’t live without you, I couldn’t see a world without you in it.”
“No you didn't, I would have been fine. And I could see one without. But we had too, clearly we did.” I pleaded with him, I realized I could move now, I ran my hands through his wild hair, I always did that hoping to bring him comfort.
“Did you bring Obi-Wan to kill me that day on Mustafar?”
“You know I wouldn’t do that, He snuck on my ship I didn’t know he was there. But I’ve since forgiven him.”
“Why?”
“Because he thought he had no choice.”
“You’ve asked me questions now I have a question for you,”
“And what would that be?”
“Why did force choke me?”
“Because I was angry.”
“That’s not good enough! How could you throw away everything because of anger? I loved you and you thought I was a liar! You thought I would betray you. I loved you, I love you! How are we supposed to come back from this? How can I forgive all you’ve done?” I punched this chest, I panted out of breath. I felt the tears come back again, I felt my knees give out as I fell to the ground, tears dripping on my opened hands. He knelt to my size, he lifted my chin and I met his gaze once again. He caressed my face trying to bring me comfort. I knew it, he was going to make me come even if I didn’t want to. A part of me did the other part for the sake of my children and what he had done to the Galaxy I couldn’t. But did I have a choice in the matter, probably not. He continued to stroke the side of my face. I couldn't help but lean into his touch. Old habits die hard. I had forgiven him for what he had done but that doesn’t make it okay. It doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt still. No matter how much I loved him I couldn’t forget it completely. He broke me out of my thoughts as he asked “Come with me,” I knew he was going to ask me this. But it didn’t make it any less easier to deal with.
“You know I can’t.” His eyes pleaded with me, I wanted to but I couldn’t. But as I said before I had no choice in this matter. He was not going to let me go like he did the first time. All this was, was courtesy, chivalry, hope. I knew it was coming as Anakin touched my forehead and I succumbed to darkness. All I could think was , are my children safe? What’s going to happen?
Narrator’s POV
Padme fell limp in Anakin’s arms. He picked her up, bridal style. As he carried her to his quarters.

Another Anidala AU this time it is inspired by Spy x Family, famed spy Padmé codename Amidala must infiltrate a school with a fake family in order to reach her target, she chooses handsome young Anakin Skywalker to be her husband not knowing he is really the infamous assassin Darth Vader. The only one who knows the truth is their adopted daughter Ahsoka who is a telepath. As they spend time together, both Anakin and Padmé find that their feelings for each other and their daughter are becoming more and more real.

Time travel Vader and Anakin fighting over Padme until Vader admits he is Anakin from future and only he could protect her
I love how sweet and soft Vader is for Padme in these AUs.

Please, remain calm, the end has arrived. We cannot save you, enjoy the ride. This is the moment you've been waiting for. Don't call it a warning, this is a war.
Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away...
The Republic is in a desperate period as the forces of Jedi and Clones fight tirelessly against the Diseased. These waves of the undead seem unstoppable, and with each passing day, hope fades as the losses of lives mount. The world is growing increasingly unstable, and there appears to be no end to this brutal conflict. The once-great Republic now finds itself on the brink of collapse as the very foundations of its society are shaken to their core. But even in the face of such overwhelming adversity, some refuse to give up. Brave soldiers and Jedi continue to fight on, risking everything to push back the tide of darkness that threatens to engulf them all. Whether they will succeed remains to be seen, but one thing is undeniable: the end of everything the Republic is has arrived, and it is up to them to decide what kind of future will emerge from the ashes of this brutal conflict.

Vaderdala Horror AU
An idea I tried to send someone in an ask on Halloween but apparently never got through:
Dark supernatural forces beyond the understanding of even the Sith bring Padmé back from the dead shortly after ROTS. They endow her with enhanced Force Sensitivity and magic and train her in the Dark Arts, all the while feeding her hatred and corrupting her in the Dark Side. Among her new powers are hydrokinesis, life energy absorption, and a hypnotic, seductive siren voice, the effects of the last of which are augmented by skin contact.
Soon after, she returns to the Galaxy proper undercover to seek revenge against everyone she believes responsible for destroying her family and her life, including both the Jedi and the Sith. She covertly rampages through both Imperial and Rebel forces, assassinating and/or enthralling key figures, gathering intel, sabotaging operations, and creeping her way towards Palpatine, the Rebel leaders, and what is left of the Jedi. This all leads to an encounter with Vader.
I still haven't decided whether or not Padmé has targeted him as Vader for supposedly replacing her husband or as Anakin for attacking her on Mustafar. Either way, his suit renders him immune to her mind control powers, but as soon as he recognizes her, it's clear that she doesn't need them to wrap him completely around her finger, as she has already done so. After clearing the air between them about everything, the reunited couple rekindles their love and Vader eagerly agrees to help Padmé in her plans. They begin plotting out steps to recover their children, heal Vaderkin's body, eliminate their enemies, and take control of the galaxy.
Please like and reblog with your thoughts.

the desperate anidala bitches shall rejoice, because i come offering a second rec list 😌 /lh
My Anidala/Vaderdala rec list! (part 2)
You can find the first rec list here!
sorry I took so long this got buried way down in my drafts but it's finally out 🫡
some of these are not complete so do check chapter count and pls dont yell at me asdfhgkjfh
Modern AUs
The Bet
Anakin's had a crush on Padmé since fourth grade, and after putting up with his pining for seven years, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka are finally stepping in and making a bet that he can't ask her to junior prom in the spring. Meanwhile, Padmé is realizing that Anakin isn't as annoying as she'd always thought. In fact, her feelings towards him are starting to go in quite the opposite direction...
Snow Place Like Home
For genre-typical convoluted reasons involving ill-timed blizzards, Padmé is forced to spend the holidays at Anakin's house. Anakin isn't as upset about his boss staying with him for Christmas as he probably should be.
Second Chances
When Luke Amidala and Leia Skywalker meet at summer camp, they're shocked to discover that they're long-lost twins. The logical next step? Getting their estranged parents back together.
I usually avoid Parent traps AU just because I dislike it as a setup, but when it comes to Anidala a bitch is desperate, and this was a cute and fun one, I really enjoyed it!
Lemon
“What other secret fantasies do I have that are glaring neon signs for you?” Anakin asks. “You’re conflicted,” Padmé says, “because on one hand you want to be a very good boy for me, but on the other you want to misbehave so I have a reason to punish you.” He blows out a plume of smoke and taps the ash off his cigarette. “You know, I really thought you were a nerd. I thought I'd have to be like, ‘Hey, how about you tie me up sometime.' Get you into this stuff little by little. But no, you’re diving right in like we met on a BDSM subreddit or something.” Or: Padmé has car problems. Thankfully she knows a good mechanic.
normally, I probably never would have checked out this fic, (mommy kink is just not my thing) but as previously stated, A BITCH WAS DESPERATE and you know what it actually slapped 😌
Rebound
Padmé Naberrie has just been broken up with. She wasn't prepared for a night out with her girls to find her a rebound. She certainly wasn't prepared for Anakin Skywalker.
Sith-Raised Anakin
the inevitable end of dancing with the devil
"Maybe it was too crass to compare the devil to such a creature—Lord Vader wasn’t the devil, he was worse." Senator Amidala was undoubtedly one of the most respected and adored public servants to walk the galaxy. Lord Vader was not. Vaderdala AU. Arranged Marriage AU
A Worthy Sacrifice
Chancellor Palpatine has dropped the act and decided to rule the galaxy openly as Darth Sidious. His reign wouldn’t be half as successful without his unhinged attack dog Darth Vader, a much rumoured warbringer who appears in black robes with a saber red as blood and brings even the strongest revolutionaries to their knees. Padmé is not only fighting for her home country but the freedom of the known regions and she is desperate to turn the tides of this war which is why she agrees to the deal Sidious offers her: A child with this favourite Sith Lord in exchange for her home: Naboo.
This is one of my favourite fics with this trope!
Pearl in My Head
Padmé's just starting her career as a Senator when she attracts some unwanted attention from the Emperor, who has decided on a very different role for her in the Empire. [empire already exists, arranged marriage/forced proximity au! loosely follows some aotc/rots events]
What Was I Made For?
Darth Vader was not a man made for love, but this was not love. Or, Basically, Padme and Vader are friends with benefits, but she's so nice to him that it makes him question his entire existence.
FOR YOUR LOVE (i’ll do whatever you want)
𝐬𝐨 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲, 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐰? 𝐬𝐨 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲, 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐦𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐰? 𝐢'𝐯𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐬𝐨 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐢 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐡, 𝐢’𝐯𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐬𝐨 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐢 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞, 𝐢’𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 He gave her that devilish smirk of his. The one that had gotten her into this mess in the first place. “I’ll give you what you want.” OR, A rare moment of intimacy happens for Padmé and Anakin – whose relationship is strictly carnal.
I have yet to read the second chapter (will get on that when I get out of the snowbaird hole lol) but I really enjoyed the first one!
Vaderdala
love me, love me (like you used to do)
In which Vader fails to capture his son, but gains a daughter, his wife, another pair of twins... and the past.
this fic was SO GOOD holy shit literally made me feral when i fiorst read it
Love Like Ghosts
There are very few people who know the location of the Rebel Alliance’s base on Naboo. Even fewer who know the names of any of the people who work there. So when Padmé gets up on a cold morning, the windows frosted and harsh wind rattling the doors of the large house that’s been the headquarters of the Alliance for nearly two decades, to see a package with her name on it sitting on the doorstep, her heart stops in her chest.
loved this fic but as a heads up it doesn't provide "they get back together" closure so be ready for that
news of old by @ineedausernamel829
Padme is a member of the rebel alliance. During a mission, her past relationships with darth Vader comes to light
No vaderdala interactions, but exploration of the relationship through Padme talking about it - It’s so so good
Sad Vaderdala hours
Imperial Socialite
In a timeline where Darth Vader doesn't face immolation and Padmé Amidala lives, their marriage continues in a form that is at once far more honest and deeply dysfunctional. Though Padmé tries to remain within the Imperial Senate, the trauma of her husband's betrayal--and the apparent deaths of her children--force her into early retirement. Too much of a liability to aid the emerging Rebel cause directly, Padmé seeks out new avenues of defying the Empire: by leveraging her connection to Vader to mess with the Imperial Elites of Coruscant.
it could be sweet
an interconnected collection of stories based on the idea of what would have happened if Padmé had lived. (aka me finally writing down my self-indulgent vaderdala daydreams aka me living my best life)
This series is so good in a "rip my heart out of my chest and steps on it" way
all joy sucked dry
Her husband had fallen, her life’s work had crumbled, and her own babies were strangers to her. But she didn’t even care, and that was the worst part. Or: Padme deals with postpartum depression, and Vader is ill-equipped to help her
Others
Across the Seas
Padmé Amidala - the daughter of the royal governor of Jamaica - never expected her life to be much more than it already was. Her routine is to dress in her finest clothes, put on a pretty face, and ensure she is presentable to not only the people but to the many men attempting to court her. However, Padmé's world is flipped around when pirates attack, and the young woman finds herself in the company of their fearsome, brash, (dashing) Captain. Initially sickened by the roughish man, Padmé will quickly learn there is so much more to the mysterious Captain Skywalker. A pirate's life for me
The pirate AU I didn’t know I needed. So good
Right & Wrong
After they watch a holoshow that portrays reprehensible content, Anakin unwittingly reveals the concerning way Chancellor Palpatine acts towards him. Padmé will not let anyone harm her husband — and she’ll make this Obi-Wan, the Jedi Council, and even the whole galaxy’s problem if she needs to.
when the grooming is actually adressed >>
cestrum nocturnum
Summer on Naboo, the Clone Wars have yet to begin, and Anakin is tasked with protecting Senator Amidala after an attempt is made on her life. It's too bad that every moment with her has him in agony, and every moment apart is even worse—especially after that night in the courtyard ... Or: Anakin spends a torturous time on Naboo in the company of the person he loves because he doesn't know how to tell her his true feelings.
Naboo smut 🤭
And that's it! if anyone has recommendations for a fic that isn't in either of my rec lists, please let me know! I am so so desperate I need my anidala fix
Since I was deep into the Star Wars hole and desperate, I’ve also been reading non-Anidala/non-Anidala centric fics about Darth Vader/Anakin/the Skywalker family, so I will be posting a rec list for that soon! (When i say soon it can mean anything from a day to months, my brain is not always great at tasks, if anyone wants to be notified when I do post it lmk and I’ll tag you ❤️)

anidala/vaderdala tropes in fanfics I’m not a fan of
so ik we already barely have any good fics for this ship but like some of the best rated fics follow the following tropes and it just makes me skip them and ughhh i wish it wasn’t the case so here they are:
- not having anakin and padme be each other’s firsts + one and only: my biggest issue with a lot of fics, somehow anakin/vader always has experience in smutty fics like dude i just want smut where he is trying his best but he’s been so obsessed with padme his whole life that he could NEVER be with another woman, just like canon
- making anakin older than padme: one of the main reasons why i ship them sm is because it flips the usual conventional age gap in relationships where the guy’s older
- modern aus: it doesn’t even feel like their characters anymore idk, takes away the fairytale aspect of it
anyways pls drop any good fic suggestions 🙏🏽
