I got my 1st dose of Moderna yesterday! Arm pain is a 4.5/10 for 2 days now, and today just general body aches, mostly in my leg probably a 8/10 for pain and also discomfort. So worth it.

As Virginia moves into Phase 2, public health officials shift messaging, approach to get more people vaccinated
NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – It’s a moment over a year in the making, but the challenge now comes with changing the approach and messaging to encourage everyone to get vaccinated. Starting April 18, Virginia shifted into Phase 2, allowing everyone over 16 to get vaccinated, two weeks ahead of the federal goal of May 1 set by President Biden. A quarter of Americans are fully vaccinated against coronavirus, according to the CDC
A quarter of Americans are fully vaccinated against coronavirus, according to the CDC
According to the CDC, more than 129 million Americans have received at least one Covid-19 vaccine dose, which is roughly 39.5% of the total US population. Starting Monday, anyone in the United States aged 16 and over will be able to get a vaccine. But when the authorization opens Access and hesitant vaccine concerns remain. “We’re getting to the point where we’re reaching the tough audience,”…

This second dose of the vaccine has kicked my ass. But I’m so hopeful it’s a light at the end of this miserable tunnel.

Can you travel with kids if you’re fully vaccinated?
Can you travel with kids if you’re fully vaccinated?
(NEXSTAR) – With summer travel plans heating up as the country continues to see vaccination numbers rise, many are eager to hit the road. But what do you do if you’re fully vaccinated and your children are not? “For anyone unvaccinated, the CDC is not recommending traveling,” said Donna Hallas, director of the pediatric nurse practitioner program at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. Hallas said…

My experience with the COVID-19 shot
Quick Disclaimer; this is only my personal experience, everyone is gonna be different in some variation.
So when I got there, it was in a kinda like warehouse setup, you come in, show them your ID, they give you a shot card with your info and someone will take you to a room where there’s a chair and a lil table and a kinda beach chair looking thing. I sat down and my dad talked to me to distract me, the person who gave me a shot came over and tried talking to me a bit (but due to my social anxiety it makes me go non-verbal or at least semi-verbal a lot around strangers.) I made my dad talk to them. So I starred at my dad during this as he talked to me, you have to make your arm go limp and not be tense, the shot itself kinda feels like when someone lightly pokes you with a pencil or when your friends have those extension nails that are pointy at the end and when they poke you yeah. Anyways not too bad. After that they’ll usually put a bandaid on you and you’ll receive a sticker from 15 minutes from when you got your shot. You’ll go into this waiting area and my dad had to sign some papers. There’s usually a ton of other people there who also got the shot in the waiting area. Everyone is separated, masks on and 6 feet apart. After your 15 minutes is up (like it’s the time it says on your sticker) you can leave.
Now there are two doses you get and I just got my second dose about two days ago. I’m about to go into detail about the after effects so if anyone reading this has any discomforts towards talking about physical pain or body fluids I suggest you stop reading now since it’s not really ideal to hear about.
Ok so, when I got my first shot for the most part I was fine. I couldn’t really move my arm much so my parents got me a sling, and it was achy, I was quite tired as well and loopy. At one point I was just laughing at the pathetic-ness of not being able to move my arm. I also just felt weak. I was knocked off my feet for a few days, just exhausted and achy. I also had a thing where my arm would feel really cold or really warm (mostly cold) so I had a heating pack with me to help.
Second one I got- basically same thing you go into a building, you do have to keep the shot records of the first one so like yknow they have proof that you’ve gotten it. It did feel slightly different than the first one (shot wise) like a slightly more aggressive pencil poke. Also I forgot to mention that you have to sign out and you can get a free sticker (or at least I did). I was fine for the most part, my arm was just a lil achy. But then around 5 AM my cat wanted out of my room- waking me up so I let him out and I almost immediately started shaking violently. I let him out and tried getting back into my bed wrapping myself up in my blankets and taking deep breathes. This luckily stopped, but then I got awful, awful heartburn, mixed with some nausea. I couldn’t take my heartburn meds because I had a feeling I wouldn’t be able to keep it down. I tried getting back to sleep but I honestly couldn’t because my body wasn’t letting me. So I was up till around 7 AM (I don’t actually know the exact times of either of these) my dad came in to get my dog from me to put him outside and I told him I hadn’t slept and if he could get me some icewater. He did and I didn’t have to go to school. Unfortunately I drank my water too fast and ended up throwing up, my dad and I cleaned up and my nausea and heartburn calmed down enough for me to sleep. Beyond that I was fine, just again- really tired. I almost passed out multiple times in the day. Same with today, and yeah just achy, hurts to touch. And I have been getting some hot spikes in my arm and pain spikes but they don’t last too long and aren’t too bad. Same with feeling cold as well.
Anyways that’s been my experience so far, I hope this helped others somehow- it’s not too bad but it’s not the best in my opinion so yknow. But at least I’ve gotten vaccinated so that’s cool :)

Looking a bit smug, you say? That’s because I just got my second vaccine! I feel like somebody left the gate open! Of course, I’ll still wear a mask & avoid large crowds, but there’s finally light at the end of this tunnel 😊
