Those sound so cool!! Could we hear abour divine tree serizawa ooh 👀🥦
Thank you!
🥦 :D
I actually have a title written inside the doc, “the revert” I think it fits!
It's a missing scene fic about serizawa in divine tree arc. (He really just went mia in canon lol) I feel more confident concept itself than how the execution will end up? But I'm gonna try anyway (/*v*)/ still haven't figured out the vibes...
But relapsing and religious trauma!
Okay so two things:
1) I find it so interesting how the brainwashing undid reigen (and teru’s) character arcs because by design the cult is dimple getting carried away with no one honestly calling him out, and so is everyone else.
Reigen can get carried away as if mob never called him out in separation arc, telling mob he can't go to the tree if he's not going with him.
Reigen had told both mob and serizawa that it's fine if they ever choose to move on from spirits and such. Serizawa-after touichirou’s advice of not letting himself get manipulated- says he won't put eggs into one basket, and decides to increase his work options by continuing his education. And reigen supports him because he’s grown too after separation arc
Then the brainwashing caused this power dynamic of believer vs nonbeliever, and Reigen gets carried away back into old habits of dismissing someone’s growth to keep them close to be used….pressuring serizawa to conform. ways similar to serizawa’s old workplace, is something serizawa can neither handle nor directly confront, so he avoids reigen.
2) Serizawa does try to meet Dimple to talk to him. and…Okay so to be fair Dimple has tried his best. The psycho helmet is …an empty religion, popcorn religion with nothing besides believing in god so dimple can get power. a blanket religion general enough that everyone can fit in easily. All they need is to believe in the religion and join the cult. And to pressure those who don’t until they do.
Serizawa had tried to not listen to his feelings and blindly follow someone’s else’s quest for power. So joining the cult isn't something serizawa can easily internalize. Serizawa slipped through the cracks in this very easy to follow religion. *cough* with no leeway / accommodations / or exceptions *cough* (Dimple you're triggering an ex shut in with a history of abuse Dimple please) with the idea that he's in everyone else’s way, what can Serizawa do?
*look who’s inside again starts playing*
Relapsing it is! With bonus religious trauma! (/◕ヮ◕)/
And then (redacted) to the rescue!

okay so i know i kinda answered this in an ask BUT i really have been meaning to go through my gf and i's chats and find even more of our bushmeds so! ah! let's just think of this post as the dutchiebee medsnip masterpost where i will update with links to tags for each of these the more i ramble!! heh!! the catch-all tag for my personal bushmed rambles is still #medsnip of course, but some of these have specific tags as well! aaand as usual you can feel free to send asks or talk to me about any of these, i'm always glad to babble about them!! hehe!!
“Canon” MedSnip: the medic and sniper in Thou Giveth Fever is just the Main/Default/Canon/Whatever medic and sniper. takes place in same universe right after the comics! i default to talking about them the most!
Dutchiebee OC MedSnip: arlowe and wren! a lot of their story takes place pre-teufort but they eventually become RED’s medic and sniper! ^v^ “canon” red medic and sniper don’t exist in this universe. they’re already dating by the time they wind up at teufort together! we’re still working on a lot of their backstories but i’ll eventually talk more about them/write a fic for them too! ^u^
Vampire Medic/Hunter Sniper: sniper’s a vampire hunter who is hired by old, powerful and big vampire medic to do some dirty work for him. they end up falling for each other… but not before spilling a lot of blood together!
Merperson Medic/Human-Merperson Sniper: lots and lots of versions of this live in my mind but i think the one i'll elaborate on most is mermedic and lonely human fisherman sniper... for their fish parts, medic is a blanket octopus and sniper is a spotted wobbegong!! hehe... i also love the idea of mersnip and human medic, who harvests/researches exotic animal parts and is given sniper as a gift (mann co caught him? who knows) and thinks that sniper is simply too fascinating (handsome) to kill! hoo!
"Priest"-Demon Medic/Priest Sniper: medic was a human that was killed by the church and comes back as a demon set out to destroy it. takes interest in the church that sniper has been a part of for his whole life and begins causing chaos (falling wooden beams, gossip, making people question their faith etc. whatever medic thinks is fun at the moment)... but sniper catches his eye.... they develop feelings for each other..... but sniper doesn't know what medic Really Is.... gasps.... hehe
Researcher Medic/Swamp Monster Sniper: sniper is a werecroc that lives out in the comfy cozy australian bush/marshland (haven’t decided yet). roughs it as a human and also as a crocodile and loves being alone. until one day a very curious “doctor” starts stomping around his secluded slice of heaven in search of/researching the plants and animals of the area (to harvest for his zany experiments of course!)… sniper hates people but this one just seems kind of… Charming… hmm…. !
Cult God Medic/Nonbeliever Sniper: medic is a shapeshifting god/demon/spirit/whatever that thrives and grows in power from the cult that is convinced he exists and worships him. likes toying with them and giving them “signs” he exists and whatnot and loves the praise because, well, who wouldn’t! :-) hoo! buuuut a Certain Denier has caught his eye…! sniper thinks that cult nonsense is a load of crap and doesn’t fall for it. Naturally this makes medic Carnally Desire him and his attention… HEHE… >:)
Old/Retired/Domestic MedSnip: would follow my “canon” versions of them. years and years later, some vague skip of time. the sorrow..,., the sweetness.,., in the Unlikely Event they retire… how might that go.. :) sniper’s fine with aging but medic is NOT. everything can be defied! age! death! isn’t that what you want sniper!! but maybe sniper wants to retire to some small house on the german coast with medic.,., medic can extend his life infinitely with his “devil deal” but what about his sniper.,., who has already died once… but could either of them Really ever retire…? HEHEH.., i’ve actually written a lot of this and i should probably publish it in a standalone fic. very emotional very angsty!!
Unicorn Medic/Pegasus Sniper: EHE this is an extremely self indulgent one but i love it all the same! does what it says on the tin… what if they were ponies!! i’ve talked about it here and posted sniper’s design here! i need to work on medic’s just for the sake of having my own ref sheet to match sniper’s but i talk about him in the twt thread i linked! ^u^ <3 i just love gushing about them because i love ponies!!

//Haitham's bio/verses/what not:
Biography:
Born in Sumeru he grew up in the land of scholars. He was a child prodigy and no one had ultimately been surprised when he took well to learning in the Akademia, and even fewer when he quickly rose through the ranks to become the Grand Scribe who’s intelligence was only matched by his cold pragmatism.
In fact he become known so well for both things that many were surprised when he opened up his home to his senior Kaveh, for they were black and white. Day and night.
That said it was expected that before long their intense arguments became legendary.
Tumblr media
Character Notes:
➢ Alhaitham is the reincarnation of King Deshret. He has no memories of his past life and probably would have no idea until after he came in contact with the Divine Knowledge capsule during the plan to usurp the Akademia and save the Dendro Archon.
➢ After coming into contact with the Divine Knowledge Capsule, despite all the safe guards he put in place, the Divine Knowledge capsule did have alot more consequences that he was not expecting: he began to have recurring nightmares that were memories from his past life, frequently got mild migraines among other things that were far less frequent. He blamed it all one ill effects and tried not to think much of it though he swore something about him had changed.
Tumblr media
Verses:
Main Verse. V; The Curse Of Knowledge (Main Verse)
This verse follows the main canon.
➢ Subverse - V; I DID NOT ASK TO BE A GOD (Canon Div. Subverse) //
Responsibility had never been kind to the Grand Scribe, it was no shock that the Akademia had tricked him into becoming the Grand Sage by pretending that it was just temporary but what he hadn’t expected was that the strange visions that had haunted him in the night time hours turned from night terrors turn into daily hallucinations.
At some point he lost himself in his suffering, prefering to disappear as he used his moments of lucidity to figure out what was going on. Eventually he realized that he was the reincarnation of the Scarlet King. Lost he struggled to come to terms and in a rare moment of terror he struggled to come to terms with it.
➢ Subverse - And Once There Stood A King (Past Life Verse)
TBA
Bungo Stray Dogs Verse. V; What Is A God To A Nonbeliever (BSD Verse)
Follows along the lines of his ‘I DID NOT ASK TO BE A GOD’ verse, during his searching for answers of what he could do he took a note from the traveler and eventually learned how to go to different worlds, leaving a world that no longer felt welcome to him as the Grand Scribe or the Scarlet King behind.
Somehow in his confused haze of traveling where time passed in strange increments he eventually ended up in Yokohama and decided to settle there for now in hopes of figuring out what he could do. During such time he eventually ended up running a bookstore near the Detective Agency.
While running his bookstore he continues to wear his vision despite the fact he has no use for it anymore but has long since hung up his sword, keeping it hanging up on the wall behind the checkout counter and telling people it was a well kept family heirloom.

✨Child of Light ✨
Well, long time no see guys! Truly I haven't posted in a long LONG time but- what can you do when you get so busy with school and you have the last exam before college :’D But God is still faithful and will help me get through this!
Tumblr media
For a while, I had this idea to try again and see if I could draw myself in an anime style! This time I kinda went with the flow of combining my own style with anime and well- 👀…👁️👁️✨I impressed myself!
I was always pretty bad at drawing anime in the past to my surprise but learning and growing more in the blessing that God had put in me + even having fun by trying new things had let me see how different God had created us and yet we have the best artist! Which is the Lord! 🤍✨
For now, I guess- THIS IS A FACE REVEAL(this is the first try at actually creating my own anime style) but is very similar to how I look irl! Now with this anime style, I didn't try to look too cartoony yet also true to my character and add that spark every artist has in their own art style! Hope you guys like it >v<
♥ —— ♥·:*¨ ♥︎ ¨*:·♥ —— ♥
Because there are so so many anime that are against the Bible, gross, and even overy sexual there aren't many Christians who do anime, but why not try it myself like a few believers do and create Christian anime?! Is all for God's glory and even though this art style to bring people to Christ! We can do better than how the enemy uses that trash and instead, God to shine through our art!
So no matter what art style you have, don't be afraid to use it sister or brother in Christ for what God is calling you to do! Even if is anime, make a wholesome manga that not only will Praise the Lord but also drag the attention of the nonbelievers! We are here to also spread the good news through our artworks!
♥ —— ♥·:*¨ ♥︎ ¨*:·♥ —— ♥

@round--face said : ☼ for one muse to see the other hurt and get angry
         『 Meme || Accepting 』
He didn’t really care for heroes as much as he once had. As much as the foolish boy who thought a manly heart would see him through. No, that illusion had been broken out of him. And he was all the better for it.
          He should be.
And yet, there was Uravity–he’d seen reports of her. Some new shiny heroine on the scene, all bright and soft, with eyes filled with so much hope even he’d been caught up in looking at her the first time he’d been close enough in person. It had been enough to make him trail after her whenever he got the chance, find out each and every little thing he could to figure how just how her brain ticked, how she could be so dauntless yet still so kind. She seemed to genuine to be true, in a world where so many heroes couldn’t be.
That was a dangerous thought, however. In such interest, now there was the constant NEED to have eyes on her mid-mission ( he wasn’t worried or anything; of course not! ), to cause trouble just so she ( and the other bothersome, less important heroes ) would show up. The curiosity had seriously gotten to him, he supposed. The formermost happened to kick into high gear after a Trigger-spurred villain had hurt her while the rest of her team ( useless bastards ) were too far off to help. But what did that matter?
The moment he’d heard her crying out, seen her blood spill against the concrete, his body moved fast. In outrage, this boiling feeling coursing right through his veins, as he’d impulsively stepped between the heroine and the villain. As he’d caught the second blow meant for her on his Hardened arm, then shifting to kick the bastard back. Well, so much for watching from afar, but–
“You! Since when do you let yer guard down that easy?!”

Ideas for the villain verse:
After stepping in to help save Katsuki from the Sludge Villain, Izumi had not run into All Might again. After the confrontation with Katsuki after the fact, she’d taken a different route, having instinctively started after her childhood friend, only to change her mind and go off a different way.
The one who had found her in the end had been Stain.
One moment she was walking through an alleyway, the next she found herself waking up on a rooftop looking right at the hero killer. Before she could think to run, he’d activated his Quirk and she found herself paralyzed. As terrified as she’d been, her mind had still raced to figure out what he’d want with her, why he would even think to focus on a civilian like her. Through her frantic muttering, she’d gotten her answer:
Having seen the news report, he had decided to question her on why she’d chosen to step in, even knowing her Quirklessness would have gotten her killed. When Izumi had answered honestly–that she couldn’t stay away, even if Katsuki had hurt her, even if she had no real strength to fight the villain, because she saw he NEEDED help–Stain stated she was more of a real hero than some of the pros he encountered.
When she’d tried to brush it off saying a Quirkless someone like her couldn’t be a hero, he would point out it was a lie–the world she so desperately wanted to be a part of, the things she’d always wanted to do, was not so far from her reach and anyone who said otherwise was lying. More so, it was better she not try to think about being a hero like the kind she saw. He would say that she had everything she needed to be the sort of person that REALLY mattered: someone who could keep people SAFE, someone who could make a CHANGE to society that would make it all better, even for people like her.
At the time, in tandem with her being in a low point after dwelling on Katsuki and All Might’s harsher words, Stain’s declaration seemed so tempting to her. If there was a chance that even someone like her could make a difference, that she COULD help those people who needed it, she’d be a damn fool if she passed it up. She agreed, even if Stain warned her it would be difficult, even when he told her that once she took that step, she could never turn back. Even knowing the kind of man who was offering her his hand and his help in achieving it.
                                      She took it anyways.
Even while anxious and wary at first through her visits, in the end, she came to not mind how the man carried himself. Harsh, strict, sure. But he also taught her how to fight. How to protect herself , through Quirkless combat, armed or not. The knives scared her and maybe the rhetoric he preached about conviction and heroes was something that set her on edge, but he was still the kindest person outside her and Katsuki’s families to her.
Stain was still the only one who really believed even she could be a hero. He was the only one who truly appreciated listening to her near endless rants and observations about the heroes she knew, local and not; someone who would even answer back and supply his own thoughts to help further her own, things he noted about the ones he had met or hypotheses of his own. He was the only one who even let her study his own Quirk, weaknesses and all, and encourage her to tell him everything that came to mind. He VALUED her input, unprompted or not. He LET HER QUESTION HIM, and EXPLAINED, perhaps with annoyance, but it was better than being threatened. It was better than being told to shut the hell up because he didn’t want to hear it. He RESPECTED HER. He never retaliated or raised a hand against her, outside of a spar he refused to tone down for her, because he refused to think of her as weak. How could she ever dislike such an arrangement?
She honestly forgot just who she’d been dealing with.
Ultimately, her happier views on his mentorship were shaken when he’d finally conceded to taking her out with him, on a trip to another city. He carried her on his back, talking with her about a local hero there. What his Quirk was, his battle and personal tendencies–Izumi answered each and every question eagerly, and more. Even questions on the best way to handle combat against such an opponent–she couldn’t help but assume it was one of their usual conversations. That maybe he was testing her and how well she remembered their lessons, though belatedly wondering what that hero in particular had to do with anything. And why Stain was asking in terms of him fighting the man.
She found out in the nastiest way possible, when Stain suddenly dropped her and enacted each and every little thing she had said. And took the hero down with ease in front of her.
Reality spelled clear right in front of her–remembering that, yes, this was the Hero Killer she had been learning from. The Hero Killer might seemingly have some sort of soft spot for her, but he was still every bit the ruthless murderer of his reputation. He was still the man who killed heroes he deemed unworthy of the title, whether she liked it or not.
To ensure Izumi didn’t interfere, Stain had taken blood from one of the fresher curatives used to tend to her after a spar and paralyzed her while he took care of the hero. Rather than kill him immediately, it was a deliberate speech he’d made to the man, about how Stain may have physically brought him down, but it was the Quirkless Izumi who had truly spelled his ruin. SHE had been able to see through his weaknesses, his fighting style, his overconfidence and make it so easy, a Quirk wouldn’t even be needed to take him.
Because of her O bloodtype, Izumi had been freed from her mentor’s Quirk sooner than anticipated, but before she could step in and help the man as she intended, he’d begun spewing a mess of hateful words to the both of them. At Stain, for the things he did and his Quirk, at Izumi, howling how it was impossible that someone so weak could ever manage such a thing, how LAUGHABLE it was. Was she so damn desperate to be worth anything, she’d stoop so low as to buddy up with the Hero Killer? Worse off, have him speak a lie than would at best be a damn joke?
The more he talked, the more it made her falter. Tremble, as she’d have to hear such horrible things from a HERO of all people. Were these the kind of people that were seriously protecting others? No...it was just as Stain had said–there were people among the Pro Heroes who needed to be weeded out and disposed of. This had to be one of many who looked down on the Quirkless, why? Because they had a neat little Quirk? Because they didn’t take people like that seriously??
What the hell was up with that???
The more the man would scream and spew his curses at them, the more Izumi’s heart ached and her blood boiled. She could scarcely notice Stain slipping behind her, gently sliding a knife into her palm that her twitching fingers would instinctively grip until her knuckles whitened. She could scarcely hear the Hero Killer whispering his rhetoric in her ear all over again, fueling her emotions set in a harsh disarray. Reminding her of what he set to do, of what he promised her she could do to be a true hero to others. If she followed him, if she did what she needed to do now, she would be just that.
He’ll admit it, he task he set himself to do, the task that she must do now, was immoral. Yes, it was cruel and sickening, and it WOULD ruin her. But SOMEONE had to do it for the sake of the people. SOMEONE had to FIX their current society, SACRIFICE and RUIN themselves for this cause, to RISK IT ALL FOR THE PEOPLE.
Wasn't that what a hero did?
In that moment, she hadn’t thought. She hadn’t hesitated. Stain’s murmured words, the man’s screaming, her own pent up rage and resentment all exploded. She found herself suddenly blinded to it all as she gave a yell of her own and charged forwards at him. The next moment she’d opened her eyes, she was straddling the man, his blood staining her front, his torn body and the glinting knife in her hands.
Naturally, she’d screamed. Well, almost had–Stain covered her mouth and took her away before her distress could alert the approaching authorities of their presence. Leaving the corpse to them, the two would move to a more secure location.
The journey had been numbing. Save the initial scream in shock, she’d found herself petrified, a cold, sick feeling that stuck with her and only grew the more her fer and guilt began to set in and fester. She found herself suffocating, trying to piece together just what happened. The more she’d dwell on it, the more she’d attempt to make sense of it all while listening to garbled things the Hero Killer told her, the more the startling realization would settle in:
She didn’t feel bad about killing him. Not at all.
That was what dug at her, what clawed into her chest and gnawed at her heart. It was just so easy, impossibly so, like squashing a damn bug underfoot.
It wasn’t what she’d DONE that had scared her so, back there. No, she’d screamed from the gruesome vision of how she’d left the hero–no, the failure. The fake. The bastard parading around in a costume, claiming to be a hero, when the reality was he wasn’t suited for it. Ah...but that was putting it too lightly, wasn’t it? How could someone who thought such things be a hero? That a Quirkless person wasn’t capable of besting him because of what they lacked?? That she was worthless for it???
That was something Kacchan and his little friends would say wasn’t it? Kacchan, those people, that ‘hero’...were these seriously the sort of people protecting others? Protecting the Quirkless, who could only look on at these powerful beings?? These unreachable, untouchable chosen ones???
The more she’d thought about it, the more her heart broke, the more everything she’d known would crack and splinter apart.
Stain was right all along, wasn’t he? She understood him now. He alone stood against all of this, fought to change things for the better. He sought to purge those so-called heroes that were truly nothing but a mockery of the ideal. The fame-seekers. Those with such a big damn ego they felt they NEEDED to be at the top, looking down upon all. Those who only sought prestige and money, who didn’t really give a rat’s ass about those they were supposed to protect. Stain was working his damn hardest, but there was no way one man alone could stand against all that. There was no way one single man could make such an impact, not when all of society was against him.
So she’ll become that too. This was the very thing her worthless life needed to be anything but something so simple. So meaningless. This was what she could truly do to make a difference, to ATONE for causing the very incident that had drawn the Hero Killer to her. Stain had been telling her all along, and she had been too damn close-minded, too damn foolish to see, to SEIZE the moment it had been offered to her.
                                            She’ll be his acolyte.
Better yet, she’ll take on his former name–the name of the very thing that had possessed her up until he’d finally set her down again and checked up on her, only to find her in a bizarre state of stunned awe and and tear-streaked panic all at once:
                                Stendhal.

❝ I have never been fond of thieves. ❞ No, not in the slightest. Those who would rob from others for their own benefit - provided a good enough reason was given - he could understand. However, for those who found joy in robbing others of their earthly tolls, there was nothing but ire burning within the pit of the god’s stomach. As he spoke, one hand curled by his side, remnants of sparks weaving between his knuckles, while the other remained firmly against his left sided pocket, guarding his own valuables. His gaze would trail to the other, partially in warning, partially in curiosity.

So glad to hear you like him clingy as much as I do!! TT^TT as far as I’m concerned he wasn’t clingy enough in canon, so I’m fixing it as much as I can with every new doodle haha

GAH GETO-SENSEI MY ONE AND ONLY I’m happy he makes you as soft as he does me, he’s such a comfort to me ;;;; and thank you for liking my stuff!!!! Means the world to me to hear it ;A; <3
Anon said: I miss your krbk sm 😔 No pressure intended!!!!!! I still love and support u and ur art!!!
Man I miss them too!!!!! @ hori when are you bringing my loves back from the war I’m here waiting good sir!!!
Anon said: v v curious on your thoughts on what’s currently going on in bnha manga :)))
HMMM what are my thoughts on it? Well, let’s split it in two: Deku’s side and Todoroki’s side, because that’s how it’s split in my brain atm, and allow me to start from the second because it’s easier to get through for me
I’m in love with everything Hori is doing with Todoroki and everyone involved with him - that’s to say his whole whole family and Hawks and Jeanist too, all of it, I’m so into it it’s no joke at all. Always been in love with how he handles Enji’s character and his interactions with his family and the latest developments didn’t disappoint me at all, wasn’t very much into Dabi right after the “reveal” but the more I think about it and about the story from his pov the more behind it I am, forever and always head over heels for Shouto’s way of dealing with a situation that’s as complex as one would expect from a protagonist of their very own story you could really make a manga out of the Todoroki’s family plot from Shouto’s pov alone, it’s incredible I can’t state how in love with it all I am enough. And Hawks, don’t make me start on him I’ll straight up never stop, absolutely and most definitely my favorite pro-hero I would trust him with my money and my kids 100/10 just assume I’m constantly crying over him. Also Jeanist is just hilarious so bless him and his presence in an otherwise too heavy story
Deku’s side........ well, the main problems I have with it are that one, I don’t really understant the need to keep ofa a secret from the class for the biggest part of the story when the reveal wasn’t forced upon Deku, didn’t have a huge impact on him or his relationship with the others (his leaving wasn’t directly caused by him coming clean after all, he wouldn’t have had to leave earlier had he not kept it a secret and he would have still left at this point had the class already known all along) and didn’t, like. Matter. All that much. Two, this manga is called my hero academia and I’m genuinely starting to wonder why. What was the point of all the arcs set inside the school anyway? Most of the characters growth (Deku’s especially) and the progression of the main plot happened in the arcs outside of the school anyway, and at this point it’s clear we’re not going back to the school after this or even seeing anyone graduate. What of Shinsou? What was the point of his plot when we’re not even gonna see him being active part of the class in a school environment? I’m just confused about it all, I guess. Three, which is really my biggest problem with it all, is the way Deku’s set on saving Shigaraki. It’s not like I don’t like a story in which all the villains are saved and the good guys win and love prevails and all that, call it corny but they’re exactly my type of stories, but I’m not sure I can get behind it when Twice died like that, and Midnight did as well, and Aizawa lost a leg, and Nighteye died, and Hawks might have lost his wings, and Shirakumo ended up Kurogiri and it’s still unclear whether he can be saved, like... why does Shigaraki get to be saved when so many people suffered like that? And it’s not only about them suffering by his hands, it’s about Hori and how he was ruthless with so many characters but lets the story show arbitrary kindness to Shigaraki alone, it’s all... well. Unfair. The way I see it. At this point I at the very least expect kindness for Touya as well, here.
That said if I pick the chapters one by one by themselves I do enjoy them very much. I just don’t gotta think about the big picture lmao AH but it’s all a personal opinion, of course! I know people who enjoy the way the story is going and I can see where they’re coming from, this is all arbitrary tastes and preferences on my part, I’m aware of it!
Anon said: Hi hi! I finally got into jjk AND finally caught up on the manga and i appreciate your doods soooo much more now!! They’re so great!! But imcurious, is there one specific moment in the story where you Gojo and Geto became IT for you? Just genuinely curious!!
THANK YOU happy to hear you liked jjk!!!! And that’s!!! a great question, I’m not sure I have an answer actually? I binged the manga in a day and a half, you see, and when I binge stuff that fast I rarely stop to overthink things - I did ship them as I read too since, well. They’re in love lmao but I shipped them in the same way I shipped itafushi or yuutoge after I read the prequel, you know? Just a general aknowledging of how good they were together. The main point with satosugu specifically was probably that satoru has been my favorite character since the beginning of the story and suguru got there as well as soon as I read their backstory, so once I was caught up they’re the ones I ended up spending the most time thinking about, both by themselves and together, and that ended up making me a bit obsessed..... just a bit lol
If I had to give one specific moment that got me by the heart and squeezed the hardest it’d be... probably Satoru’s “my soul knows otherwise”. And the way his voice alone could bring Suguru back, even for just a single moment. The thing about satosugu for me!!! one of the many things about them, but the main thing for me, is that they love each other. Be it platonic or however you wanna see it, they love each other. Despite everything and after it all, even if Satoru had to kill Suguru, even if Suguru killed so many and betrayed Satoru and they went their separate ways in the harshest of ways, they love each other. It’s insane, isn’t it? That they’d love each other so much they could pass over everything and anything. I’ve seen the “best friends become enemies” trope so often in shounen manga, but this is the first time I see it treated like this - with love so strong that they never blamed each other or turned that love in hate. The way satosugu do it is all-encompassing! It goes beyond the world and their differences and death itself! So if I had to pick it’d be that one, because that scene happens after it’s all over, and it all went to shit and way beyond too already, and still their souls resonate with each other and answer to each other and that sends me insane, just thinking about it. Like, god, they really still love each other. Satoru’s mourned for Suguru for a year, Suguru’s been dead for a year, they’d been separated ten whole years before then, and still! And still!!! It’s so tender I don’t know how to deal with it
Anon said: “What’s a god to a nonbeliever?”—That tag is going to haunt me for a while. The entire tag section for your latest Gojo and Geto drawing is meta-worthy.
THANK YOU it’d been eating at my brain I had to write it down somewhere why are those two like that
Anon said: Do you take commissions? No pressure! ✨❤️
Not right now!
Anon said: How do you feel about sukuna ? like/dislike or thoughts on him
AMAZING QUESTION I love him. I have absolutely zero clue as of why so don’t ask me to elaborate, I’m literally that marge pic with the potato when it’s about Sukuna, I have no meta thoughts about him nor deep reasonings behind it - by all accounts, I should dislike him! But he shows up and I’m like nghhh king, so that’s where we stand. It’s Sukuna, you know. I just think he’s neat.
Anon said: sighs time to get into another fandom bc i simp too hard for ur art 😔
HAH thank you for the trust I hope you’ll like ror if you do get into it!!! hahaha

Rebel Robin podcast (ep 3 &4 analysis)
For those who haven’t read them yet. Here’s the analysis for podcast ep 1&2. Analysis of Rebel Robin book-here. And eastereggs from rebel robin novel- here.
So the main things I noticed in ep 3 was how Robin spying was shown as a huge NEGATIVE-and Mr Hauser got upset over her doing so. Robin listens to mr. Hauser’s phone call (like Karen with Mike in s3/ us gov spying on calls in s1) & on a different occasion Robin also eavesdrops on a private convo he is having with someone else in his classroom ( like El spying on Mike talking to Lucas in s3). And when he finds out about this he tells her how wrong it was to spy on other people like that. In the past, I also talked about how the theme of spying is shown for many other st characters ( in the show) and how it  isn’t romanticized like people think it is- here .
Anyways , Ep 3 ends with a call from a h*mophobic teen( Dash) telling Robin to “stay away” from Mr. Hauser cause he’s “dangerous”. Why he thinks he’s dangerous is solely for the fact he’s gay.I think this theme may come into play in s4 Hawkins (in relation to the satanic panic). In ep 4 Robin jokes to (gay) Mr. Hauser  : “ So what are you into... satanism?” (Sadly most queer people have been told over and over we’re going to hell for being gay/lgbt+. it’s sadly an almost universal experience.) For those unaware- the ‘satanic panic’ was a right wing christian movement in the 80′s that WRONGLY associated certain things with supposed satanism.  Just some of the many things they demonized : rock music , stephen king , wearing black,  horror/fantasy media, and of course queer people and d&d (hellfire club - the name is a a xmen ref but in the show it’s probably an inside joke about the satanic panic and people being scared of d&d). We see foreshadowing of the satanic panic hinted in s3 (in relation to d&d)- on tv the narrator asks if “satanism” (pans to d&d set) is to blame for the odd occurrances in Hawkins. And given how the s4 el-trailer had the clock say 3:00am for the “witching hour” also called “the devil’s hour” since it’s supposed to be a subversion of jesus dy*ing at 3:00 pm. And the possibility s4 may take place around Easter.  I think we’ll see that religious (Christian) extre*sm  causes many people in Hawkins to interpret the supernatural as ‘satanic’. And no , I’m obviously not talking poorly about all religious/christian people).
After this Mr. Hauser jokes how Hawkins is like “lord of the flies” and how he “worries” what would happen if teens were left to their own devices-like in the book. The themes in the book mostly focus on the dangers of ‘mob mentality’ and how human beings can become v*olent and turn on each other- if the safety of civilization disappears...
This I believe is foreshadowing - i mentioned in a post a while back (here). How movies on the s4 list had the theme of :  a supernatural event indirectly causing towns people to act irrationally and turn on eachother v*olently. Despite literal monsters attacking them from outside (they chose to turn on eachother instead). In the end some townspeople become the real monsters via mob mentality/v*oence/false witch hunts (the mist, the birds, etc). In ‘the birds’ (while people are hidding in a store)- they wrongly  blame certain characters for the supernatural chaos. Similarly, in ‘the mist’ (crowd of townspeople are trapped in a store) and some  start interpreting the monsters as being sent as punishment by god- some town’s people start quoting the bible and saying the only way to stop the punishment is to start “sacrificing the s*nners and nonbelievers”. BIG YIKES.ST references mapple street (where the wheelers and sinclairs live). It’s based on the twilight zone ep of the same name “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” .The ‘monsters’ of that episode -were the townspeople turning on eachother because they incorrectly think their own neighbors are part of an invading supernatural army. The enemy was actually the paranoia/mob mentality-not the supernatural force they feared.  And yes i do think this concept is linked with 80s satanic panic and will cause some town division/obstacles for our heroes to deal with . **I also think the s4 bts of the Hawkins blood clinic-may be used to show h*mophobia (linked to satanic panic) in the town. Like in one s4 movie “paradise lost”the punk rock boys who were into black clothes, rock music , horror/stephen king books- were accused by the town’s people of being gay AND have demonic powers that are k*lling fellow town’s people.
Mr Hauser says he thinks steve Harrington is Ralph from lord of the flies. And Robin disagrees saying he’s Jack. Personally- since this was when Robin didn’t know/hated Steve. I think Mr hauser is right that Steve is Ralph (one of the oldest boys) who’s “commitment to civilization and morality is strong”. But Jack  (perhaps the popular s4 kid Jake?) and his savage crew take control of the group and start trying to attack Ralph and his friends (steve’s crew- over satanic panic?). How this begins is -
Jack, torments Ralph and others. And some kids begin to develop savage personalities, after someone claims to have seen a Beast (demongorgan?) in the woods. This creates fear among the boys, which allows Jack to access more power.Ralph gets into an argument with Jack, who splits from the tribe. Many of the other boys follow Jack, who uses fear to manipulate the boys into leaving Ralph. And Jack’s crew begin attacking Ralph and his friends.
----------------
Ok, next topic of ep 4- the sentimental part of my brain got emotional when hearing how upset Robin was. And than Mr Hauser-telling her she’s wrong and she’s not “broken” or “rotten” and “nothing about her needs to be fixed’” (got me right in the feels) . As a queer person- I feel like every lgbt+ kid/teen needs to hear what Mr. Hauser said to Robin.
However,  the analytical part of my brain -did notice some easterggs/ series parallels.
The convo starts with them talking about music Mr hauser likes (such as Bowie). And transitions to Mr Haauser asking about things she likes, whether she’s being bullied, and he later tells her “ DON’T let other people’s small mindedness make you fell bad about yourself. you don’t need to change yourself-no matter what anyone else says” . And Mr Hauser than says him calling her the “weirdest girl in Hawkins” was a compliment (not an insult-like she initially assumed).
This is remarkably similar to certain scenes in s1/2. In s1, Jonathan mentions musicians he likes such as Bowie, asks Will about what he likes,  and tells Will “don't like things cause people tell you you’re supposed to-especially not him (their dad who called him h*mophobic names)” . In s2, Jonathan tries to cheer Will up after asking if he's being being bullied. And calls Will  “a freak” (and says it’s a good thing) and he should be content with being a “freak “ and compares Will to Bowie ( who was openly queer since the 70s) .
In ep 4, Robin also mentions how sad she is that her parents won’t let her ride her bike anymore cause their paranoid about her safety  (like what happened to Will in s2).
Robin (before Mr. Hauser comforts her) says she feels like she has a “rot” inside her  . This is a s2 eastergg that could be linked to either Will or El. Will says his now-memories are “growing”, spreading”, and killing.” Later Kali says the emotional pain caused by her father  caused a “wound” to “spread”. Later allusion-Brenner tells El she has a “terrible wound “ (“a rot”) that Will “grow, spread, and kill.”
The reason Robin rants about feeling like she has a “rot” inside her is because she’s being bullied, and  lost all her Hawkins friends and says  “maybe I’m broken maybe there is just something about me that drives people away? I’m the only common denominator-there’s something wrong with me! There’s something inside of me that’s just rotten and there’s nothing i can do to fix it”. Which 1)-poor Robin. 2) I feel like could easily be How Will feels in s4(who will be the same age as Robin is here in the podcast)- his dad abandoned him, all his hawkins friends are gone , the st s4 movies have h*mophobic bullying in them (and he was bullied in the past). In a interview Noah said Will in s4 “doesn’t really get along with people-it’s just him and Mike.”  I think it fits more so with Will than El . But they may feel similar:  it’s implied in s4 audition tapes she’ll be bullied too,  she moved away from her friends,  and her father (Hopper) fake “passed away.” It could easily be how both Will and El feel in s4- that there is  something “broken”/ “rotten” about them . In fact, in the rebel Robin novel there is even a character named Sheena. Sheena reminds me a bit of a mix between Will and el . She is very quiet, queercoded, and is often bullied. And she finds mean notes and other things stuffed  in her locker- placed there by bullies. A bit like how Will found the zombie-boy note in his locker. A teacher doesn’t stop her bullying just blames her and says “ This wouldn’t happen if you made it just a smidgen easier for PEOPLE to understand you.”(sort of reminding me of that Noah quote about s4 Will not getting along with most people/Jonathan saying not to change himself cause “people” say to). But sheena can be another name for Jane (there was also a 80s show character named Sheena who was psychic) so ...maybe foreshadowing of el/jane being bullied in highschool? Along with Will?
*It’s not a eastergg/parallel...just speculation. Unlike the rebel robin book... in the podcast (in multiple episodes) almost every time she opens up to Mr Hauser about her problems she says it’s ok for him to do the same and she’ll be supportive and listen. However, Mr Hauser (so far) always rejects her offer-much to her hurt/frustration. In ep 4, she asks if he has someone his “own age” he can talk to about his problems-which he says he does. Now... since in ep 4 Mr hauser is paralleled to Jonathan maybe Jonathan will have someone his own age to talk to about his problems (maybe his new friend Argyle?) We see similar to Mr Hauser giving advice/pep talks to (gay) Robin. Jonathan is always giving advice/peptalks to our (gay-coded) Will. But so far- Jonathan has no one he really emotionally leaned on in the same way (Will does with Jonathan). I also wonder if Will in s4 starts gets tired of how he always confides in Jonathan (but Jonathan never does the same with Will  in return)? Like Robin with Mr. Hauser?

During the battle, The Heaven Incursion take hostages
GEOGRAM Soldier: They Have hostages, I repeat, they have hostages!
Heaven Incursion Member: You died, you came to heaven, but you’re a heretic, and the father of a nonbeliever.
GEOGRAM Soldier: Wait, is that?
(The soldier looks closer, and it’s none other then Clarence Cross himself! He’s reached heaven, but him and the others souls (Souls are humans that have died but has managed to reach heaven) are being held hostage because The Heaven Incursion sees some of them as heretics)
GEOGRAM Soldier: Oh my god. We need backup!
Got it. Making the call now.
(Alter pulls out a little wireless joystick, and suddenly, a giant sword is launched from the Toppat Orbital Station and slices all the Heaven Incursion members in half, while harmlessly passing through the Souls. However, out of nowhere, Terence Suave swoops in and grabs Alter by the neck and hovers him over one of the airship's propellers. Clarence and the other souls luckily dissappear before Suave sees them.)
You must be Kyle Cross. Heh-heh, it's a pleasure to finally meet you. You know, you've been a massive prick to the Heaven Incursion, and now I'm finally gonna end you myself the same way they ended me. Any last words?
(Alter tries to free himself, but Terence has a chokingly strong grip on his neck.)
Burn...in hell...Suave...
I'll see you there.
(Alter is dropped, but Reginald suddenly swoops in and saves Alter, whom RHM manages to grab before the blades cut him to pieces.)
Oh my god...Is Reginald okay?
Well...I'm alive, at least.
(Reginald is alive, but far from well. The blades managed to slice the skin off his scalp, and his fingers and thumbs have been sliced in half as well.)
I would take him to the medbay, but not while Terence is still a threat! Deal with him!
That's gonna be tough, sweethea---
(BANG!!!)
(A gunshot is heard, and a bullet goes right through Terence's head. The one who took the shot is yours truly, who sniped him from a distance.)
You can thank me later, guys. Right now, get Reginald to safety!
(Dr. V quickly wheels Reginald into the medbay to give him some prosthetics. Terence then flies up to me, but he suddenly drops as soon as he reaches me.)
You little shit...you just blew out one of the power chips the Heaven Incursion gave me, causing me to lose some of the powers they gave me. I can't fight like this, so I'm going to retreat...but this battle is FAR from over.
Really? From all the corpses we've layed on the ground, seems pretty over to me.
We have far more people than what you've seen...We will win...
(I cock my gun.)
I can still shoot you, you know.
You have already damaged me enough...I will leave you alone. Just know that this battle is FAR from over.
(Terence then tries to fly away, but he drops to the ground before he can reach a good altitude. He groans, then defeatedly walks the rest of the way. After checking the battlefield, Alter gives another signal for everyone to gather around him so he can give more tactical commands.)
Alright, that was another good fight, but judging from what Terence said, we've still got a long ways to go. And no matter what, we won't surrender to them. The multiverse is at stake here, and so far, we've been able to protect it. Now, everyone prepare for their next attack. And remember, be ready for ANYTHING.
(Once again, I, along with everyone else, give Alter a salute as a signal that we'll do as he says.)

INHERITED DEPRAVITY?  BY STEVE FINNELL
Do all men inherit guilt from the sin of Adam? Does the fact that Adam sinned mean all of his descendents are born depraved? Many denominations teach that as facts. Those denominations who baptize unbelieving infants do that because they believe infants are born guilty of Adam's sin.
The Westminster Confession
CHAPTER 6
Of the Fall of Man, of Sin, and of
the Punishment thereof.
I. Our first parents, begin seduced by the subtlety and temptations of Satan, sinned in eating the forbidden fruit. This their sin God was pleased, according to his wise and holy counsel, to permit, having purposed to order it to his own glory.
II. By this sin they fell from their original righteousness and communion with God, and so became dead in sin, and wholly defiled in all the faculties and parts of soul and body.
III. They being the root of mankind, the guilt of this sin was imputed, and the same death in sin and corrupted nature conveyed to all their posterity, descending from them by original generation.
IV. From this original corruption, whereby we are utterly indisposed, disabled, and made opposite to all good, and wholly inclined to all evil, do proceed all actual transgressions.
V. This corruption of nature, during this life, doth remain in those that are regenerated; and although it be through Christ pardoned and mortified, yet both itself, and all the motions thereof, are truly and properly sin.
VI. Every sin, both original and actual, being a transgression of the righteous law of God, and contrary thereunto, doth, in its own nature, bring guilt upon the sinner, whereby he is bound over to the wrath of God, and curse of the law, and so made subject to death, with all miseries spiritual, temporal, and eternal.
The doctrine of Inherited/Total Depravity has been adopted by many denominational churches due to the writings of Augustine of Hippo (AD 354-430 and John Calvin (1509-1564)
Those who believe the false doctrine of Original Sin say all men are sinners at conception.
There are no references in Scripture that state men need to be forgiven for Adam's sin or that men inherited Adam's guilt.
If all men are born totally depraved how did Moses serve God? Moses did not live under grace. Moses did not receive Christian baptism as an unbelieving infant.
Was Abraham totally depraved at conception? Genesis 18:19 since Abraham will surely become a great and mighty nation, and in him all nations of the earth will be blessed? 19 For I have chosen him, so that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring upon Abraham was was spoken about him." (NASB)
Questions: How it possible that God would chose Abraham if he was totally corrupt at conception? How could Abraham's children and household do righteous acts and justice if they were totally defiled and only inclined to do evil?
The doctrine of Original Sin/Inherited Sin and Total Depravity are not found in the Bible, they only written in man-made creed books.
Was Noah guilty of sin at conception rendering him totally depraved? Genesis 6:8-9 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. 9 These are the records of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God.(NASB)
Did Noah trick God into thinking that he was a righteous man? No, God cannot be deceived, however, men can be deceived into believing the false doctrine of Original Sin, Totally Depravity and Inherited Depravity.
Was Job a guilty of Adam's sin at conception? Was Job not capable of resisting evil? Job 1:1 There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil.(NASB)
Was the first Gentile convert to Christianity a totally depraved sinner at conception? No. Acts 10:1-2 Now there was a man at Caesarea named Cornelius, centurion of what was called the Italian cohort, 2 a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, and gave many alms to the Jewish people and prayed to God continually.(NASB)
Inherited Depravity is a man-made doctrine found in denominational creed books. Original Sin/Inherited Sin is not found in the Bible.
Atheist and nonbeliever are not born evil. Many atheist and non believers do good works.
All men sin and are guilty of their own sins. No person has inherited sin from Adam.
All men need a Savior because of their sin, not because of Adam's sin.

God's terms for pardon from sin. Faith: John 3:16, Repentance: Acts 2:38, Acts 3:19, Confession: Romans 10:9, Immersion in Water: Mark 16:16, 1 Peter 3:21, Acts 22:16

Why It Worked: The Prince of Egypt
Tumblr media
Introduction: The Prince of Egypt is a 1998 animated Biblical historic epic directed by Brenda Chapman, Steve Hickner and Simon Wells. Produced by Penny Finkelman Cox and Sandra Rabins, with the screenplay written by Phillip LaZebnik and Nicholas Meyer, the film retells the Biblical story of Moses and how he freed the Hebrews from slavery in Egypt. The film stars Val Kilmer, Ralph Fiennes, Sandra Bullock, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sir Patrick Stewart, Helen Mirren, Steve Martin and Martin Short and features music and songs by Hans Zimmer and Stephen Schwartz respectively. Released on December 18, 1998, the film received very positive reviews (scoring an 80% out of 87 critics aggregated on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 7.08/10 average rating), was financially successful (making $218.6 million on a budget of $70 million), won an Academy Award for Best Original Song (When You Believe), spawned a direct-to-video prequel focusing on Joseph (the dream interpreter) and a stage musical at TheaterWorks in California in 2017. Out of the 37 animated films DreamWorks has made, I always viewed The Prince of Egypt as not just my favorite, but also their best film in terms of quality. In this post, I'm going to explain why that is and why we need more films like this.
Tumblr media
The Plot: For those who aren't familiar with the story of Moses, it's a tale about hardship, sacrifice and deliverance. A young Hebrew baby is saved from the slaughter of Hebrew babies ordered by Pharaoh out of fear. That baby is picked up by Pharaoh's wife and is named Moses, for he was pulled out from the Nile river. Moses grows up being Pharaoh's son until he finds out his true heritage and essentially exiles himself in the wilderness. There he meets God in the form of a burning bush who tells him that He has heard the Hebrews suffering and has chosen Moses to free them. 12 plagues and 1 crossing of the Red Sea later, the Hebrews are free and Moses is hailed a hero. While this film stays true to the original text for the most part, it does make a few additions and subtractions so that the film flows naturally at an hour and 40 minutes. I could talk all day about the changes made from the text to the film (such as Moses having a stutter and Mirriam giving Moses to the Queen) but in an instance I wish was more common place when it comes to adaptations, the filmmakers provided an opening statement at the start of the film. "The motion picture you are about to see is an adaptation of the Exodus story. While artistic and historical license has been taken, we believe that this film is true to the essence, value and integrity of a story that is a cornerstone of faith for millions of people worldwide. The Biblical story of Moses can be found in the Book of Exodus." It's clear that the filmmakers had nothing but respect for the material and told a strong story about two brothers going on different paths in life. They also don't shy away from the brutality of the story, while still making it accessible for children. People are whipped, drowned, attacked by locus, and even straight up killed. What makes this film stand out from other Biblical films is that it's animated, but not like that of Disney. Where Disney tends to go for the fantastical and colorful, The Prince of Egypt is more reserved and grounded. The characters move more like humans and are designed more like Egyptian hieroglyphics and paintings than fairy tale illustrations. This grounded approach makes the fantastical stuff all the more powerful. The parting of the Red Sea (with blends 2D and 3D animation perfectly) is still one of the most iconic scenes in animation history. The animation in this film is so unlike anything I've seen before or since and it also helps that the story is well written and is brutally honest with it's depiction of slavery and a tyrant ruler.
Tumblr media
Cast and Characters: The cast they got for this film is excellent. Sure they're celebrities who (at the time) didn't have prior experience in voice acting (with the exceptions of Michelle Pfeiffer, Jeff Goldblum, Danny Glover, Sir Patrick Stewart, Helen Mirren, Steve Martin and Martin Short). That said, in this film they nailed their respective characters. Starting off with our hero, Val Kilmer gives such a nuanced performance as Moses, making him cockey and arrogant at the start and then making him so well spoken and wise by the end. Moses is such a relatable protagonist and has a genuine arc through the film. His brash and fun loving demeanor is in direct contrast to his uptight older stepbrother, Rameses. Speaking of which, before he was Voldemort, Ralph Fiennes gave such an amazing performance as Rameses, who's at the top of my list for the best villain is DreamWorks' animated catalog. The thing about Rameses is before he became a ruthless tyrant, he strived to be just like his father, who he saw as wise, percise and a real king. At the same time he had such a good relationship with his stepbrother, Moses, that he hoped that they'd make Egypt a better place together. That all changed when Moses came back from his self imposed exile and asked him to release the Hebrews in the name of God. Ralph Fiennes showcases the right amount of worry, stubbornness and sadness of this character, and the chemistry he shares with Moses is perfect. Everyone else does a great job voicing their respective characters as well. Michelle Pfeiffer gives Tzipporah such a snarky personality and makes for a good wife to Moses, Sandra Bullock makes Mirriam such a motherly sister, Jeff Goldblum made Aaron as essentially the voice of the cynical people which this film couldn't function without (also Jeff Goldblum is always a win), and Steve Martin and Martin Short work off each other perfectly as Hotep and Huy. Then there's our Lord and Savior Himself, God. In this film, God is portrayed as the all powerful being He is as described in the Bible. He protects His people, He tells Moses exactly what to do and how to do it, He shows mercy and good favor towards the Hebrews, and He does keep His promise in bringing His people out of Egypt. Val Kilmer provides the voice of God and it sounds so majestic and calm, it's like listening to your best friend.
Tumblr media
Songs and Music: There is not a single song in this film that I don't catch myself humming to on a daily basis. That is how powerful these songs are. The opening number, Deliver Us, perfectly captures the oppression of the Hebrews as they are whipped, pushed, and yelled at by the Egyptians. Oh and also babies are slaughtered during this scene, making the song even more powerful. Moses' song, All I Ever Wanted, plays after his encounter with Miriam and Aaron and brilliantly showcases his doubts to his upbringing; right before he's hit with that amazing dream sequence done in the style of Egypt wall paintings. Look at Your Life Through Heaven's Eyes was such an upbeat and fun song that shows you your life has meaning and you should look at it with a more optimistic perspective (through Heaven's eyes, if you will). Playing With The Big Boys is an amazing number, showing the dark mockery of God from Hotep and Huy as well as some impressive visuals (also there's this dope rock cover of the song by Jonathan Young and Caleb Hyles you should really check out: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gqlNY5iX-nA). The 12 plagues are shown via a reprise as All I Ever Wanted and it is genius. The visuals get noticeably darker with each passing plague until all of Egypt is covered in darkness. And Moses and Rameses' duet perfectly captures their opposing viewpoints during this time. Then there's the Oscar winning song, When You Believe. It's the ultimate song of hope, of faith, of belief; it's the song that should be song and heard around the world, especially today when hope and optimism are seen as being ignorant. Also, Hans Zimmer's score for this film is nothing short of magical. The way he uses brass instruments to emphasize God's power is just glorious and the choir is used in the exact place you expect there to be a choir. It's so soothing and majestic, I wish I had the soundtrack.
Tumblr media
Where it Falters: My only gripe with the film is the ending. Not that it's bad, but that, well, it ends. Despite the film promising to bring the Hebrews to the promise land, we never actually go there. I thought they'd get to that in a sequel, but that's not likely to happen anytime soon because DreamWorks Animation swore off 2D animated films after Sinbad tanked and they're not nearly as ambitious now as they were back in the 90s and 2000s. Cosmodore made this really insightful video about how DreamWorks Animation almost went bankrupt twice and why their recent output has been geared more towards families (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dLa7xe5GTWw) but the tl;dr is DreamWorks Animation was 1 more financially disappointing year away from closing up shop completely. Still though, I would love to have seen a sequel to The Prince of Egypt focusing on how Moses lead the people through the wilderness.
Tumblr media
Conclusion: The Prince of Egypt stands as one of the best animated films ever made. With an amazing soundtrack, memorable characters, beautiful animation, and a stellar voice cast, it's one of a select few films I consider a masterpiece. You could argue that it's not accurate to the story told in the Bible (a fact the filmmakers themselves acknowledge), but it does stay true to the spirit of the story and it doesn't go out of it's way to convince nonbelievers that this is truth. As a film on it's own, it's great and I hope it's watched and remembered for generations to come. Thanks so much for reading and I'll see you soon ;)

A large majority of Americans supports legal abortion, but thanks to gerrymandering and court-packing, the U.S. is now a country politically dominated by a rabid, right-wing minority, one increasingly empowered to simply ignore public opinion.
Because of this, there's good reason to believe it's not just Roe or the legal right to abortion that is on the chopping block. Americans should also be deeply concerned that, with his next Supreme Court pick, Trump will open up a new avenue for assaults on the legal right of women to preventpregnancy in the first place. It may sound like a crazy fantasy scenario straight out of "The Handmaid's Tale," but this legal right that Americans have taken for granted for decades is now on surprisingly shaky ground.
“An extremely conservative justice who would be interested in overturning Roe v. Wade would also be a threat to the right to contraception," Genevieve Scott, a senior staff attorney at the Center for Reproductive Rights, told Salon. “The future of both access to abortion and access to birth control, as well as women’s reproductive rights when they are pregnant, is really on the line here.”
Jessica Mason Pieklo, a law professor who works as a legal journalist for Rewire, mentioned briefly on a Wednesday edition of her podcast "Boom! Lawyered" that she was worried about the fate of the 1965 Griswold v. Connecticut decision and the 1972 Eisenstadt v. Baird decision, which together created the right of privacy and overturned state laws restricting contraception access.
"The contraception decisions are the cornerstones of reproductive and sexual privacy," Pieklo told Salon. "If you really want to undo those protections, it’s not enough to undo Roe, for example. You need to go back and really get to that heart of the right of privacy."
"The privacy right that is recognized in Roe v. Wade," Scott explained, "is actually derived, in part, from the prior decision in Griswold v. Connecticut."
"It’s something that conservatives have been complaining about forever," Pieklo added. "They don’t just say that abortion is wrongly decided. They talk about this court creating a right of privacy where one does not exist.”
As Pieklo said, there's a large body of argument from conservative writers in places like the National Review arguing that Griswold was wrongly decided and that the right to privacy is a fiction. The Federalist Society, which was instrumental in creating Trump's short list of potential judicial picks, has heavily promoted this idea that Griswold decision and the right to privacy are simply wrong.
But it's not just conservative writers who have forwarded this idea — it's judges who currently sit on the Supreme Court.
Chief Justice John Roberts, after he was nominated by George W. Bush in 2005, drew attentionbecause of a draft article he wrote as senior adviser to the attorney general under Ronald Reagan, in which he approvingly cited Justice Hugo Black's dissent in Griswold. As much as one might like the idea of a right to privacy, Roberts wrote, that did not "mean that courts should discern such an abstraction in the Constitution."
In another memo from 1981, Roberts wrote of Griswold that it "devotes a section to the so-called ‘right to privacy,’" and then argued arguing "that such an amorphous right is not to be found in the Constitution."
Justice Clarence Thomas, prior to his nomination by George H.W. Bush in 1991, expressed a similar view that Griswold was poorly decided, and called the right to privacy an "invention." He stuck by this view when it came to Lawrence v. Texas, when he voted against the court majority that held that the right to privacy invalidated laws banning homosexual sex.
Justice Samuel Alito has not publicly inveighed against Griswold, but he did argue, as a federal appeals court judge, that requiring women to notify their husbands in order to get abortions was valid law, and that women had no privacy-right protections against such legislation. He has also been the most actively anti-contraception judge on the Supreme Court, writing a major opinion undermining birth control access and immediately using the arguments in the next contraception case to float the idea of insurance structures that would only serve to end contraception coverage entirely.
All four conservative judges on the court affirmed Griswold as legal precedent during their confirmation hearings, but then again, they also said similar things about Roe. The most that Justice Neil Gorsuch could muster about Griswold was that it was "more than 50 years old." He refused to say anything more, even as he was happy to praise other important decisions, such as the one legalizing interracial marriage.
This question of precedent is even more concerning after this week when, in Janus v. AFSCME, the conservative justices overturned a 40-year-old Supreme Court decision, Abood v. Detroit, dealing with union fees. As Justice Elena Kagan wrote in her dissent, the court majority believed "Abood was wrong," which in normal circumstances is "not enough" reason to overturn long-standing precedent. While that case was about free speech rights and unions, it also signaled that, for the conservative justices, the principle of stare decisis, requiring judges to respect precedent, no longer holds.
In a multitude of minor but important ways, the Trump administration has been trying to undermine contraception access all along. As Salon has been chronicling, federal officials have ramped up efforts to make it harder for women to get birth control. They've attacked publicly funded sources by proposing moving grants away from contraception and sex education programs to programs recommending that women abstain from sex completely unless they wish to conceive. They've also undermined private sources of contraception by attacking federal policyguaranteeing that women's health insurance plans cover birth control.
During a United Nations meeting in April, Trump officials even argued that women don't need birth control, and should learn "refusal skills" instead.
This week, Politico reported that Valerie Huber, a longtime advocate of abstinence-until-marriage programs, has been appointed to lead a strategic planning committee at the Department of Health and Human Services. Huber wrote in 2009 that sex education "was linked to a personal justification of unconventional sexual behaviors." She has also argued that Christians such as herself "should promote Biblical standards in society," applied to believers and nonbelievers alike, and that when it comes to sexual morality that means "God’s standard for premarital abstinence."
As Scott explained, the Center for Reproductive Rights is currently suing the Trump administration for what she called "a backroom deal" to allow the University of Notre Dame to deny female students birth control coverage in health insurance plans the students pay for. The Trump administration is trying to change federal policy to allow any institution to do this, but since it hasn't successfully changed the rule yet, the Center argues this deal is illegal.
“I’m very concerned this is only the first step in ... an all-out attack on women’s reproductive rights by this administration," Scott said.
"I know I sound paranoid sometimes," Pieklo said. "I joke about my Carrie Mathison-like stringboard, but there are a lot of pieces out there."
It's unlikely that the Trump administration or any conservative states will move toward an outright ban on contraception, especially in the short term. Any such attempt would be politically disastrous. But there is reason to believe that with Kennedy gone and a new Supreme Court justice selected by the Federalist Society, nominated by Trump and confirmed by Senate Republicans, the Christian right will feel emboldened to escalate its attacks on contraception access. When that happens, right-wing radicals will likely have the support of conservative judges who never believed women had the right to privacy about their sex lives in the first place.
