Mekayla Bali's disappearance on April 12, 2016, from her hometown of Yorkton, Saskatchewan, has remained a haunting mystery, capturing the attention of both law enforcement and the public. The 16-year-old Canadian was last seen at a local bus stop between 1:00 and 1:45 p.m., sparking a frantic search effort that has yet to yield any definitive leads. The day before her diappearance, she visited the bank to have $25 wired to her account. Later, she texted several friends that she was upset and needed help with something, but no further explanation was provided. The day she went missing was marked by a series of perplexing events, adding layers to the enigma surrounding her case. She texted a friend at around 6:41am asking for a ride to the bank again, but the friend declined since the bank was closed. Her grandmother then drove her to school at around 8:10am. Surveillance cameras showed her putting her binder in her locker and then slipping out the back entrance. She hiked all the way to the bank, where she withdrew $55. She then went to a Wendy's/Tim Horton's restaurant, where, for the next hour or so, she exhibited strange behaviour. Footage shows her disassembling her phone and then reassembling it. Multiple times she left the restaurant, wandered around, and then re-entered. She spent much of her time talking on the phone and texting, including a friend whom she asked for help with something, only to follow it up with ''Nevermind I figured it out''. She also asked a random customer for help with renting a hotel room, but was turned down. At around 11am, she went to the bus stop and asked a stranger when the next stop to Regina would be. Since the bus wasn't going to arrive until 5pm, she left without purchasing a ticket and went back to school for the lunch period, where she met with friends and told them she was planning a trip to Regina. At around 12:03pm, she departed from school and went to a Trail Stop Restaurant, which was attached to a bus stop. She ordered food and left about an hour later. She was never seen by eyewitnesses again, nor was she captured on surveillance footage anywhere. Police were able to confirm she did not get on any bus that day, either. Over the years, various theories have emerged regarding Bali's disappearance, ranging from the possibility of her running away to concerns about human trafficking or falling victim to an online predator. Despite reported sightings and extensive police investigations, including the review of hundreds of hours of surveillance footage and interviews with potential witnesses, Bali's whereabouts remain unknown, leaving her family in agonizing uncertainty.

TW:: racism, death
!! VERY IMPORTANT TWITTER LINK ABOUT SOMETHING I WILL NEVER SHUT UP ABOUT UNTIL JUSTICE WILL ARRIVE !!
Not my usual content but please, please listen. Here's the copy of the text that can be found on my Twitter :
Last year, a teacher from my future college was attacked and drugged in a bar. He was attacked by racist individuals, threatened with a hammer and eventually died. He was found in the St-Laurent, a large river across Quebec.
The authorities did so many mistakes and handled the case extremely badly. They were biased against Eduardo. It all started with him going out with few friends in the evening, drinking 2 alcohol intakes. His friend left and then he started acting quite oddly.
He began to act troubled and agressive, along with losing the capacity to speak french, being only able to express himself in Spanish, his mother tongue. Two men assaulted him in the bar and then threw him out, without his coat, which was followed by him getting threatened with a hammer. He then disapeared and was found dead 6 month laters. Lacunes are, first of all, someone had called the police in the evening, saying the man seemed confused, under substances. The police was also aware that two other individuals were drugged this day in the same bar. They began searching for Eduardo DAYS after he disappeared, already making assumptions about him maybe having bad "acquaintances" being a criminal, etc. They stopped searching for him few days after, saying he probably just left the city.
6 months later, he was found at the almost end of the St-Laurent, leaving behind him a wife and his son. So much flaws were made by the police I can't even list them all. The police handed this case poorly, Eduardo could've been saved if the case had been taken seriously or they could've avoided 6 months of sadness and stress for the wife and the child. The cop had no will to deal with the case whatsoever and ended it with a supposedly "suicide". Exept Eduardo was deeply scared of water and never had any suicidal behaviors.
!!! LINK FOR A PETITION TO GET A PUBLIC INVESTIGATION !!!
copy of the text that can be found on my twitter:
The link I put up is to sign something to get a public investigation on the case, to get true answers. The real answers. And consequences for the lacunes and racism of the police, along with the two guy who assaulted Eduardo. Pls sign it, my heart genuinely aches everytime j see this story on my screen and I do not know what to do. I don't know anyone irl and it's just. Depressing. I want to do something for it.

The Twisted Crimes of Catholic Priest Hans Schmidt
Tumblr media
January 28, 2024
Hans Schmidt was born in 1881 in a Bavarian town called Aschaffenburg. It was said that both of Hans' parents sides of the family had struggled with mental illness.
Hans was beaten by his father as a child and often watched his mother get beaten too. Hans also had a fascination with drinking blood and was interested in bisexuality. He was also fascinated with the death of animals, often watching farm animals die at the village slaughterhouse.
Hans was ordained as a Catholic priest on December 23, 1904 by Bishop Kirstein, despite many people believing he did not have the proper morals or mental capacity to do this kind of work.
Hans began molesting altar boys, was having affairs with various women, and was involved with sex workers. Many fellow priests complained to the Bishop about Hans, and eventually he had to move to the US in 1909, as they stopped giving him parish assignments due to the complaints.
He was assigned to St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Louisville, Kentucky, but was soon transfered to St. Boniface's Church in New York as he got into it with a senior pastor.
Hans met a woman named Anna Aumüller in New York in 1912. She was the housekeeper of the church and had emigrated from the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1910. Hans later claimed he had heard a "voice from God" telling him to love Anna. Anna originally turned down Hans, but eventually engaged in a sexual relationship with him.
In December 1912, Hans began a secret sexual relationship with a New York dentist named Ernest Muret. The two men began operating a counterfeiting ring together.
Hans was then transfered to another church in Harlem but it did not stop him from keeping his secret relationship with Anna. The two even got married secretly, a ceremony Hans performed.
During sex with Anna, Hans later said he received a command from God, telling him Anna needed to be sacrificed. Hans said it was very persistent so he told Anna and she called him crazy. Anna began pregnant shortly after this.
On September 2, 1913, Hans went to the apartment him and Anna had been pretending to live in as a married couple. Hans slit Anna's throat while she was sleeping and then drank her blood. He also raped her while she bled and dismembered her body, throwing pieces of it into the river.
Anna's torso washed up on Cliffside Park and Weehawken, New Jersey. Hans had used a pillowcase to wrap part of Anna's body and there was still a tag on it. This was traced to Hans, after he had bought the pillowcases on August 26, 1913 using the name A. Van Dyke.
Police staked out the apartment for three days, but Hans did not return so they broke into the apartment to search it. The floors had recently been scrubbed, but dried blood was found on the walls. A bloody knife was found in the kitchen. Men's clothing with the name A. Van Dyke sewn into the clothes were found, but letters in the apartment were addressed to Hans Schmidt.
Lots of the letters were sent from women in Germany, but most of them were sent from Anna. This led the police to the address Anna had provided, but she was not there. They traced everything back to Hans who had admitted immediately that he killed Anna.
Hans plead guilty by reason of insanity. Due to his family's history with mental illness many thought he was insane. However, many people who interacted with Hans did think he was sane. This led to a hung jury in December 1913.
The second trial began two weeks later and it was found that Hans had actually taken out a $5000 life insurance policy in a woman's name of Bertha Zech, who was posing as Anna.
On February 5, 1914, after three hours, the jury found Hans guilty of first degree murder. He was sentenced to death. In December 1914, Hans admitted he was faking being insane during the trials. He also accused Ernest, the dentist he was having an affair with of accidentally killing Anna while performing an abortion.
On February 18, 1916, Hans went in the electric chair at Sing Sing. In a muffled voice, his last words were saying goodbye to his mother. Hans' family wanted to ship his body to Germany, but because of World War I it was impossible to do so. Hans was buried in New York, but his family requested that the location be a secret.
Hans has been suspected in at least 4 other murders. He had been seen with a woman named Helen Green, who then disappeared. She was never found. Hans was also seen with a woman he claimed was his wife when he first moved to the US. This woman disappeared.
The apartment Hans lived in he was seen with a 5 year old boy in his living room by the owner of the building. Hans said the boy was his son, but he then disappeared. He told the owner his son's name was August Van Dyke.
Hans was a suspect in the murder of 9 year old Alma Kellner, whose body was found burned in the basement of St. John's Church in Louisville, Kentucky, which he worked. Her body had been burned and the killer attempted to dismember her.
It was eventually discovered that the church janitor, Joseph Wendling was responsible. He was sentenced to life in prison, but Alma's uncle requested for him to be pardoned and he was deported to France in 1935.

Ralisha Alexander was brutally murdered inside her own home on October 21st, 2007. The 26-year-old woman lived in Henrico County, Virginia at the time of her death. She had a young daughter and was close with her family members.
Ralisha last spoke with her family members the morning before she was murdered. Around 6:00 PM that evening, Ralisha's family members went to her residence at the Essex Village apartment complex in the 100 block of Englewood Drive. Once Ralisha's family members entered her apartment, they made a tragic discovery: Ralisha was deceased, and it was clear that her death was not an accident.
Initial reports about the case stated that Ralisha's body had obvious signs of trauma. Henrico Police later confirmed that Ralisha had died from multiple stab wounds. Her death was subsequently classified as a murder.
To this day, Ralisha's murder remains unsolved. There has been very minimal reporting on her case, and very few details about the investigation are known. It is unknown if there are any suspects or persons of interest.
Comments on various online memorials for Ralisha indicate that she was loved by many and is dearly missed. However, there are otherwise little to no postings about Ralisha's murder. Henrico Police have labeled the investigation as a cold case.
If you have any information that could help solve Ralisha's case, please submit a tip or contact the Henrico County Police at [email protected].

Hey, y’all, it’s Weird Wednesday! Where on some Wednesdays, I blog about weird stuff and give writing prompts.
Today: The Villisca Axe Murders: 1912 Tragedy
On the night of June 10, 1912, eight people were murdered with an axe in a house in Villisca, Iowa. Josiah Moore (shown above), and his wife Sarah, along with their four children and two neighbor children, were killed in their beds by a person who has never been identified. And I mean never—the internet doesn’t even have a favorite suspect.
I used to live in Iowa, and I have actually been to the “Villisca Axe Murder House,” now a museum and historical site, and a frequent host to ghost tours. Visitors are free to leave their mark on the rafters in the barn, writing messages which range from the usual names and dates to oddly creepy warnings like “Don’t stand on your head in the kids’ room.” On my visit I was struck by how little has changed, though Iowa has traveled more than a century into the future: at the end of our tour, we were discussing suspects and expressing sympathy for the victims, exactly as people have been doing outside that house for over 100 years.
Check out the blog post for the whole story and some creepy writing prompts, such as:
The Closet
According to an early rumor about the case, there was evidence the killer hid in a closet and left cigarette butts, and the mark of his own butt on a bale of cotton batting, to show he’d been in the house before the family got home that night at 9:30. Then the killer waited until at least midnight to actually attack.
So first of all, this isn’t based on any actual evidence. But it would make for a good story, because in June in Iowa in a little house without air conditioning, those closets would be sweltering. How would a murderer withstand hours in a tiny, overheated space? Could he be incredibly disciplined? Could he be having a psychotic break? Sneaking onto the paranormal side of things, could he be a ghost or inhuman creature? What would happen if a murderer attempted to hide in a closet and fainted from heat exhaustion?

UNSOLVED But Not Forgotten: The Long Island Serial Killer
I decided to write about a case that’s always been heavy on my mind, and that hits close to home. Literally. Being born and raised in Long Island, New York, and not living far from where these tragedies took place, makes me really wish that we could solve this horrible mystery someday, and bring justice to all these victims, and closure to their loved ones.
Tumblr media
The Long Island Serial Killer (LISK), also known as the Gilgo Beach Killer, the Manorville Butcher, and the Craigslist Ripper. Over the timespan of 26 years, an unidentified killer murdered between 10-18 people within the years of 1996 and 2011, before bodies just stopped showing up. It’s unclear if the killer is a man or a woman, but considering most of the victims are women who happened to be sex workers, it’s assumed the killer is a man. Police didn’t first start discovering bodies until December 11th, 2010, while searching for a missing woman named Shannan Gilbert. It was then when they found her remains, along with the remains of multiple other women all along the South Shore of both Suffolk and Nassau county.
For a long time it was speculated that there were multiple killers dropping bodies around these areas, but on November 29th, 2011, police stated that they believe only one person is responsible for all of the murders, considering the common characteristics in which the remains were left, and forensic evidence related to the remains. Majority of the bodies were not found with all limbs intact, and their remains were often scattered in different areas, probably to make it harder for police to identify the victims. In June of 2011, police announced a $25,000 reward for anyone who can give them information leading to the arrest of Long Island serial murderers. As of 2023, all of the murders remain unsolved.
There were very few suspects, but ultimately were found to be unrelated to the murders. Additionally, there was new evidence brought to light in January of 2020, an image of a belt that was found at one of the crime scenes. The belt was made of black leather, and had the letters “HM” or “WH” labeled on the belt. Police believe that the belt belonged to the killer, and wasn’t in the possession of any of the victims. Police decided against telling the public the evidentiary value of the item, and wouldn’t release where it was exactly found. They also stated that new scientific evidence was also being used in the investigation, along with launching a website called gilgonews.com, enabling the department to release news and receive tips regarding the case.

WAS TINA FOGLIA THE FIRST VICTIM OF THE LISK? OR WAS HER CASE COMPLETELY UNRELATED?
Tumblr media
As you probably noticed, Tina Foglia (19) was the very first person on the victims list. However, her murder took place twelve years before the killing spree started. Many speculations went around regarding this theory, due to the manner of which her body was disposed of, and that it wasn’t too far away from where the bodies of the other victims were found. However, police stated that although it’s possible that the murder could be linked, it’s unlikely that it is, and they’re not pursuing it as an active route in their investigation. For a long time I assumed that the murder had to have been linked. I thought that maybe the killer had just started out, and was afraid of what happened and took a long break. Sort of like what Jeffrey Dahmer did after he killed his very first victim. Or perhaps he had killed other women, but their remains were just never found. However, after looking deeper into the evidence, I started to question my assumption. Primarily due to two reasons: Who she was as a person, and how her remains were discarded.
The Long Island Serial Killer primarily targeted sex workers, and from our knowledge from her family and friends, Tina was not participating in sex work. She was just a very outgoing and energetic teenager who loved the music scene, and always went to concerts, especially at a big concert venue called Hammerheads. However, she was known to leave bars and clubs with strangers somewhat often, as she was a very trusting person who wanted to see the good in everyone. In regards to her remains, her remains were indeed dismembered, but they were all put into separate bags that were right next to each other, in the exact same area. The LISK clearly disposed of the victims' remains by discarding them all in different areas, most likely to refrain from their identities being discovered. The person who discarded Tina’s remains clearly didn’t care about her identity being discovered.
Again, if this was the LISK, maybe since she was their first victim, he didn’t really think anything through properly, and again, could’ve been experimenting with their signature or MO. Police are still waiting for a match to come up in the database regarding the DNA that was left on the garbage bags. One last piece of information was that, according to Tina’s sister, she had met a man at Hammerheads who claimed to have been a doctor. She didn’t tell anyone his name, but said that she went on multiple dates with him. It’s possible that she could have gone home with this man, or someone else, but police think that whoever had killed her must’ve had a medical background due to the very precise way that she was dismembered. It was like they used a tool, such as a knife or some kind of medical instrument, opposed to a hatchet or an axe. Basically, it was done in such a way that a normal person most likely couldn’t have done it. Perhaps the man could’ve been a butcher. I’m hoping that one day Tina’s mystery will be solved, so her loved ones could finally get the closure that they deserve.

12-year-old Lynne Harper came from a Canadian Air Force family and was used to frequently relocating all across the map in Canada. In the summer of 1957, the family settled into the Permanent Married Quarters--the PMQ, as many called them--in RCAF Station Clinton, which was once an air force base south of Clinton, Ontario, roughly 20 kilometres away from Lake Huron. All of the kids living on base attended the same school, swam in the same RCAF pool, and frolicked at the same playground.
On June 9th, 1957, Lynne came home for dinner and asked her parents if either one of them could take her to the local RCAF pool. All children were required to be accompanied by an adult when attending the pool for a swim. However, both of them objected, causing much of a fuss on Lynne’s end. Lynne left to go to the pool by herself, but was turned away by the pool’s supervisor. She then returned home and begrudgingly helped with some chores before leaving  the house again without telling anyone where she was going.
Lynne found herself at the local playground, where she approached 14-year-old Steven Truscott. The two were classmates but never really interacted. Steven was your average 8th grader who was physically active and never got himself into trouble. Lynne asked if he could give her a lift on his bike to Highway 8, and he agreed to do so. On the way there, Lynne mentioned her intention to visit Mr. Lawson’s barn on Highway 8 to see the ponies.
As per her request, he dropped Lynne off at the intersection of a country road and Highway 8. On the way back to Clinton, Steven would later claim he looked over his shoulder to see Lynne getting into a mysterious vehicle.
Lynne never came home that night. The next morning, she was still missing. Lynne’s parents notified police and an investigation ensued. On June 11, two days after Lynne’s disappearance, her body was found close to a bush on Lawson’s property. She had been sexually assaulted and strangled with her own blouse.
The following day, Steven was arrested for her murder, as he was the last person to be seen with her. During the trial, the defense and Crown brought on many witnesses, plenty of which were children. One female classmate claimed that Steven had repeatedly invited her to meet him at Lawson’s barn. When she finally went there, he never showed up. The following day at school, she confronted him about it, and he responded by shrugging his shoulders.
The defense and Crown argued endlessly about the timeline of the murder. But ultimately, Steven was found guilty and sentenced to death by hanging, making him the youngest person in Canada to face execution.
Steven has maintained his innocence for years and believed he was given an unfair trial. Many people advocated on his behalf and fought for his conviction to be overturned. In 1960, Steven’s death sentence was commuted to a life sentence. In 2007, his conviction was overturned and he was exonerated as it was argued that the forensic evidence presented at his trial was weak and circumstantial.
To this day, Lynne Harper’s death remains unsolved, with Canadians divided on their beliefs about whether Steven was truly the culprit.

The Strange Disappearance of Runaway Justin Pollari
Tumblr media
March 16, 2024
In 2001, 14 year old Justin Pollari ran away from his home in Hilton Beach, Ontario, Canada. He has never been seen since.
Many youth run away from home, but most are found soon after. In 2018, 92% of missing children in Canada were found within one week.
Justin's photo was shown a lot. Posters all across Canada were put on bulletin boards, transport trucks, ect. Some believe that if the authorities took the case more seriously earlier on, Justin would have been found. Many do not take runaways seriously at first, as they think they will make contact with loved ones shortly.
Justin Pollari was born on January 31, 1987. His parents divorced when he was a baby, and he was living with his father, John and stepmother, Janis McLeod at the time of his disappearance. He had dyed black hair that he would wear in a Mohawk. Justin had two earrings in his left ear. He was known as a troubled child, never doing well in school and struggled with his parents divorce.
On December 7, 2001, Justin came home upset. He had been in a fight and his lip was cut. It was reported that he had admitted to being in this fight, however he later denied it. He was very angry and it was reported that he had even lunged at his father.
A couple hours later, Justin left the house with his skateboard and backpack that had a few clothes in it. He was wearing dark blue or black baggy pants, a dark blue or black hooded sweater, and a black toque over his 6 inch Mohawk. He had red or burgundy running shoes on.
Justin had run away from home one other time, but had gone to a friends house and returned the next day. It is unclear why he left when he did and wanted to runaway, if that was even the plan.
In the first few years, many sightings of Justin were reported. Some claimed to have seen him in a shelter in Toronto. Another person said someone matching Justin's description introduced himself as "J."
Another theory speculates he could've went to Michigan, as Hilton Beach is extremely close to the U.S. border.
Justin's family believes he was going towards Toronto. His parents and grandparents made several trips up to Toronto (a 7 hour drive for them), to look for their missing son and grandson. They went to homeless shelters, asked homeless youth, and looked through the streets.
In 2003, Justin's parents (father and stepmother) expressed frustration, stating that the shelter system makes it somewhat easy for youth to live. They think Justin was lured in by the "glamour" of Toronto street living.
A gas station attendant in Sault Ste. Marie, believed to have seen Justin get into a Quik X truck around the time he disappeared. This sighting was not reported until mid 2005, almost 4 years later.
On May 16, 2005, Justin's case was reopened by the East Algoma O.P.P. with the Criminal Investigation Branch. A huge search was completed, with a canine unit and forensics.
After 4 days, the search led to nothing.
Justin' family kept a briefcase full of photos of Justin that they would hand out during searches. They also had letters and drawings he left, that they had not discovered until after he disappeared. Three months before the disappearance, Justin had wrote to his grade 9 teacher a letter that said,
"I really hate school and the government. At class I plan on trying until I get sick of it, then I'll give up and drop out when I'm 16."
It has been reported that most youth who runaway and are at risk do so because of troubles at/with school, being bullied, having difficulty making friends, or having major life changes such as divorce, moving, or changing schools. Most runaways do not perform well in school and are seen as troublesome to teachers and peers according to the stats.
Many people believe Justin is deceased, explaining why he has been missing for over 22 years. Others think Justin made it to Toronto, or another big city and has been living homeless. Locals think more people know what happened to Justin but are not speaking out.
In 2018, Justin's case was again reopened. There are age progression photos of him available. He would be 37 years old today.
Justin's nickname was "Woody." He was listed as being 5'11 and weighing around 140 pounds. He has blue eyes and a dimple in his chin. He wore his hair in a 6 inch Mohawk style which may be dyed black or blonde. He had two earrings in his left ear and wore heavy chain necklaces.
He may have been wearing a wooden name tag with the inscription "Woody." He was an avid skateboarder and may have been hanging around skate parks. He may go by the nickname "Joe."

The morning of May 17th, 2019 began as a fairly typical day in the town Tumwater, Washington. It was a partly cloudy day, and the temperatures ranged from the high fifties to the lower 60s. It seemed like as good of a day as any for the property owners on Sapp Rd. SW to do clearing on their land. An excavator was used, and at some point, the machinery unearthed something unexpected: a human skeleton. Police were called, and investigators began working to identify the remains. Forensic examination of both the remains and the area where they were found revealed a few things early on; namely that the remains belonged to a female ranging from the ages of 13-19, and whoever buried her did so with the intention of hiding her body. DNA from the body was sent to the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification to undergo testing. It took months, but in February of 2020, the remains were identified as Danielle J. Griffith of Olympia, Washington.
Danielle was one of several missing young girls in the surrounding area. She was reportedly last seen alive by her family members in August of 2014, when she was just 17 years old. Danielle was classified as a runaway, and her disappearance did not receive a lot of attention from the public.
The discovery of her remains has left both her loved ones and the community with more questions than answers. Namely, the main questions that remain are: What happened to Danielle? How did she die? Who buried her on the property in Tumwater?
