I don't hate Pikachu as a species, but can we agree that Yellow's Pikachu is the WORST starter ever?

Like, there are starter Pokemon species I dislike more (Emboar and Incineroar, I just do not vibe with), but at least they can evolve and are usable stat-wise.

Look at this for Pikachu tho. Look at this:

Now imagine being 6, no idea how game mechanics really work yet or what stats are, as the single Pokemon you try stubbornly going thru the game with. I got destroyed by Giovanni so many times in his last Gym battle I just gave up. (I ended up getting thru the game after bringing over my Dragonite from Crystal several years later.)

Thing is too, you'd have expected me to learn from Brock, I had to get Pikachu to Lv26 to FINALLY beat him, but for some reason I just pressed on using Pikachu rather than actually trying to raise anything else.

I did have some other Pokemon that I had caught, enough to have gotten the EXP ALL, but that only rewards chip experience with a full team of Pokemon. For some reason, child me just didn't think to deposit the EXP ALL or all the Pokemon I had on me aside from the ones I wanted to raise. 😅
