something that i feel isnt always translated well to english from japanese is when a character says something really horrible, like, for instance, that they’re going to violently murder someone, but say it using the extremely polite form to say it.

#im going to destroy everything youve ever loved or held dear-masu' #like... i dont think theres a good way to convey that kind of humor. unless maybe its an audible medium. #written it just doesnt work well. #unless you just leave '-desu' or '-masu' on at the end untranslated and hope your audience knows what it means #like its 2005 and youre roleplaying in the comment section of your deviantart page or something
