An appropriate title for this is ‘For (your name),’ but even that is a secret too precious to share with a stranger.

This is no simple crush. It never is. It’s not only that I want you, I ache for you with every inch of my body. It’s not that I love the sound of your voice, I imagine your voice being the lullaby of a daughter who never experienced a song of her father’s. It’s not fleeting. It’s not whimsical. It’s heady — informing.

I imagine you touching me: your lips brushing against my collar bone, your pinky brushing against mine under a dive bar booth, and your hand meandering down my back finally stopping at the top of my tailbone. You pull me closer, and I write spells through Instagram likes willing the universe to grant me the privilege to feel the weight of your body, the sharp pinch of your pelvic bones, against mine.

It’s almost as if we’ve kissed before— my mouth and heart remember but my fingertips do not. What a painful discrepancy. How does one reconcile affairs from previous lifetimes into this one?

I only met you a few weeks ago. My hands explored bits of you in stolen, drunken moments. My mouth cursed you, hating you for making me not hate you at all.

2019年おすすめ新譜アルバムVol. 24 ：FOUR HORSEMEN「Four Heavenly Kings」

新譜アルバム紹介Vol. 24です。

今回紹介するのは、長野のヒップホップグループのFOUR HORSEMENがリリースした「Four Heavenly Kings」です。ジャケットをクリックすると購入先へ飛びます。

FOUR HORSEMENは長野を拠点に活動するヒップホップグループです。MASS-HOLE、VILLAGE O.G（KILLIN’ G）、MAC ASS TIGER、MIYA DA STRAIGHTの4人のラッパーと、DJのDJ SIN-NO-SKEの5人で構成されています。

初出は、MASS-HOLEとKILLIN’ Gによるユニット、KINGPINZのアルバム「KINGPINZ」の18年リリースの2LP版収録の「4Horsemen」です。個々の共演では、同アルバムへのMAC ASS TIGERの2曲での参加のほか、17年のMAC ASS TIGERのミックステープ「Streets Won’t Let Me Chill」へのMIYA DA STRAIGHTの参加などがあります。

KINGPINZの2人については以前書いたこちらを。MAC ASS TIGERはハスキーな声質と軽いキャラクターで、ねちっこいフロウも歯切れの良いフロウも巧みにこなすスキルフルなラップを聴かせます。MIYA DA STRAIGHTは太い声質から繰り出される男臭いラップが持ち味。個性の異なる4人の濃厚なマイクリレーが魅力のグループです。

今作はFour Horsemenとしては初の作品で、骨太なブーンバップもののサウンドでそのラップが堪能できる傑作です。男気溢れるヒップホップが聴きたい方は是非。

2. Four Heavenly Kings

MASS-HOLEプロデュース。

ジャジーなピアノをループしつつも、タイトなドラムで男臭く仕上げたビートでマイクリレーが楽しめる好曲です。フックなしのシンプルな構成も良いです。

3. Rampage

fastriver制作の骨太ブーンバップ。

シリアスなエレピと野太いベースが印象的なビートで、フックを挟んで2人ずつラップしていきます。ラッパーの出番が替わる瞬間がお気に入り。

4. Unkut Raw

強調したスネアが目立つ男臭い曲。

VILLAGE O.Gの最初のヴァースの入りから素晴らしく、その後の全員も良いヴァースを残しています。MAC ASS TIGERの妙にフラフラしたヴァースがハイライト。

8. Mr. Slumharder

DJ GQプロデュース。

Just Blazeあたりにも通じるような、ファンキーなギターを使ったブーンバップです。アトランタ的なフロウも交えてキレのあるラップを聴かせる、MAC ASS TIGERが特に良いです。

9. Dark Horses

クイーンズ産ヒップホップを思わせるシリアスな曲。

サックスとピアノのループが印象的なビートで、キャラ立ちのはっきりしたラップの絡みが楽しめる良曲です。ここでもアトランタ的なフロウも取り入れたMAC ASS TIGERのヴァースがお気に入り。
