me: there is a small part of me which does mourn the fact that active knowledge and skill of latin is no longer expected, that there once was a time where even students mastered this language well enough to converse with each other, read scholarship, and even write their own articles in latin. I am very grateful that studying latin is now more achievable since it's also made it possible for me to study this language, but I still feel almost nostalgic for this time I never got to experience, and I want to work towards the skills they had, even if these are no longer expected of me as a student.
my professor: okay so one of the first articles I want you to read for your thesis is written by a colleague of mine and it explores some extremely relevant topics for what you're going to write about, oh and also it is written entirely in latin

Exam papers are anonymous with only a candidate number but since the first book in the bibliography of my paper about classical reception is called "Gay Berlin" I could just have. Used my full name as the title of my work? Begin every paragraph with a personal detail about me?

The whole family is put in quarantine now and honestly what's bumming me the most out is that I'll miss spoken Latin group this week which I had really really looked forward to :( I'm so happy I started with spoken Latin and so happy for this group this semester and I've missed some session due to stupid reasons and it would've been so good to finish off the semester on a good foot

after starting out with a rather successful weekend I’m going to aim slightly higher so this week I am going to:
do latin on duolingo every day
write a diary entry in latin every day
look at latin grammar and try to incorporate a grammatical structure in my free prose composition
look in books about the Middle Ages
start a notebook dedicated to my BA-thesis
work towards a good and consistent sleep schedule

doing my silly little grammar homework I got an extension on, ignoring translating the text my thesis is building on even tho it's an untranslated neo-latin text and also the thesis has to be finished in 5 weeks :)

me seeing some southern european guy in the 20s make a list of what he deemed good latin alternatives to use to express modern concepts "oh this reminds me of the obscure article "Some Orthographical Comments" (1726) by the esteemed norwegian playwright author and intellectual Ludvig Holberg I should probably draw some parallels here"
