Himeko's suitcase is filled with all sorts of memorabilia, some functional, others purely ornamental, but almost all sentimental to some degree.

These days, a large part of her collection revolves around you.

There are tools of all sizes, pieces from broken down machinery, old papers, printed photos of the two of you together, a single playing card from the game you played with her last month, broken bits of accessories you've used before, and a letter you wrote for her, teeming with affection. There's also, though cleverly hidden at the bottom, candy wrappers and a sweater you don't wear anymore—though once in a while, you mumble about missing one—a copy of your favorite book, a near-empty jar of the cream you like and scraps from your old weapons.

Her collection is always growing, even if she knows you'll never leave her side, it doesn't hurt to have something of yours when you're away from her, just to pretend like the you're next to her.

I kind of wish cell phone design would shift focus away from having The World's Hugest And Best Camera. Like yeah it's nice to Have I guess but. Is the average user of the phone really going to bother with all that? So much of the physical real estate of the phones body is dedicated to having a giant camera. Even with the giant bump outs that every phone has now, I have to imagine that eats up a lot of space inside the phone too, which could maybe be used for other shit

And mostly I'm complaining because whenever I try to look at the reviews for phones, a lot of ink is getting wasted in dithering about "ohhhh but its camera is a little less good than the Cinemafucker 5000, 3.5 stars." When that's not what I'm trying to find out! Is the phone durable? Can it withstand being dropped daily by clumsy users? Will the charging port break faster than other models? Does it actually have any distinguishing features, or are the only differences just chipset minutiae? God forbid a review mention customizability

#like i know all smartphones are functionally identical to use #but if we MUST have 600000 competing brands can i at keast get a crumb of unique design? a phone thats interesting to use and look at?#i dont use my camera basically at all! i dont need to be carrying a movie studio in my pocket!#you know what id use constantly? an ir blaster. or an nfc writer. or a metal detector. or a stud finder #phones just dont have enough gadgets in them #i wish that modular phone concept from a few years ago got off the ground

one thing i like about inspector gadget's fandom is how many people have their own gadgets and gadget-adjacent characters.

like i see so many! some are big threatening war machines capable of pure mass destruction, whilst othere are just fun. some are pure robots. ive even seen a few with medical impairments and/or disabilities. some are trans. some are nonbinary.

just goes to show how much imagination this franchise has brought people of so many ages and backgrounds. and has done for many years, almost four decades.

getting a case for a new phone is a very specific and very priveleged hell for an autistic person. i hold my phone in my little hands and look at it with my little eyes every day. i take it out of my pocket and put it down on countertops constantly. i 3 pointer jump shot my phone across the room just to see if i can make it land perfectly on the couch. my case is the thin veil that separates life and death in this digital age.

my criteria for a phone case today were:

black color, no designs or graphics

not too much detail so it can slide into my pocket easily and also wont be uncomfortable to hold

not simple and boring so i dont get it mixed up with other phones lying around

built in screen protector because id peel off a separate screen protector over time

waterproof and dustproof, but the charging port cant have a dangly silicone cover that swings open in a way that will make me want to tear it off when im bored

a spot to attach a wrist strap because i have a phone charm of sentimental value i want to use

not too expensive

not bought on amazon because fuck em we stay class conscious

wont slide around when put face down on a table

limited tactile “case sounds” when taking video (sounds of touching phone)

nothing that covers the camera because i dont want to sacrifice photo quality

no finger ring / kickstand because id DEFINITELY dismantle it within a week

optionally a clear back, or some exposure of the phone’s color because my phone is red and i like red

and i FOUND A CASE THAT FITS EVERY ONE OF THESE CRITERIA! its the perfect phone case and it was $30. no compromises at all. it took 3 hours to find but damn it was worth it. i’ll share it when it ships here.
