Joe Farrell Sometimes Has  Supernatural Shenanigans Happen to Him
With not just one but two excellent collections of Peter S. Beagle’s works coming out, it occurred to me some of his novels and short stories take place in the same universe and sometimes feature the same characters, but I hadn’t really seen an online list yet of what order they’re supposed to occur in chronologically. I came to reading his stories in perhaps the right order for me to be introduced to them but also completely ass-backwards. Sometimes, between my scattered short story collections, years of life happening, and rare library hauls, I’d remember that some of these characters had names that sounded vaguely familiar. I don’t own everything he’s ever published, robust as my collection is at this point, so if I make an error or learn of a new story that came out, then I will edit my list here. This will be a Part I, and I will make a Part II for the world of The Last Unicorn under the same idea (wish me luck).
Beagle takes titling his stories seriously, and his ongoing adventures of Joe Farrell have no real umbrella title that I’m aware of. Perhaps they will get one and their own book collection one day. So without further ado (and more for my past, dumbass, novice self):
Lila the Werewolf - Lila Braun is one of Farrell’s first girlfriends as a young adult. It doesn’t go well. Takes place in New York City. First published 1974 and has seen only a few reprintings since then (The Fantasy Worlds of Peter S. Beagle, Mirror Kingdoms, will be included in The Essential Peter S. Beagle, Volume 1). First appearance of Farrell’s best childhood friend Ben Kassoy.
The Folk of the Air - Farrell returns to Avicenna, California after having been away for a number of years and finds Ben, who also now lives in Avicenna, has both become a professor AND lives with an older woman named Sia. Sia lives in a nice, old house that just so happens to be a casual walk in the House of Leaves park, and sometimes she has goddess-tier powers. Seems to take place in the 1970s; is also the first introduction to Farrell’s longtime girlfriend with latent magic powers, Julie Tanikawa, and Farrell’s ancient Volkswagon bus, Madame Schumann-Heink. Farrell, Julie, and Ben get mixed up in the League for Archaic Pleasures where they playact at medieval chivalry, but sometimes the cosplay gets a little too real and reality starts to bend a bit. Your boyfriend’s shit, Aiffe, SHIT! Published 1986. Beagle notes in Mirror Kingdoms this one took eighteen years and four separate versions to write, and in We Don’t Talk About My Brother he describes Avicenna as a “shadow-Berkeley”. Note: this is the only entry here that’s never been properly reprinted to my knowledge. If you want to read this, you’re going to have to check if your local library has a copy or buy it second-hand. If Beagle’s Wikipedia page is to be believed, he’s currently rewriting it for an expanded re-new release. Hell yeah! Whatever happens in between here and the next entry, I’ve yet to find out.
Julie’s Unicorn (short story) - more than twenty years have passed between Farrell and Julie’s relationship “of picking up, letting go and picking up again.” Easily the sweetest of the four tales. Takes place in Avicenna and Farrell’s hair has gone grey by this point while working as a respected sous chef. Julie has a fantastic name for her black and white cat, “NMC”, short for “Not My Cat”, and somehow Madame Schumann-Heink has survived into the millennial age. I’m actually not certain when this was first published, but I first saw it in print in 2010′s Mirror Kingdoms, and it was later included in 2011′s The Urban Fantasy Anthology. Have you ever been so moved by a work of art it just makes you both heartbroken and fucking livid? Have you ever been so stirred by how well an artist captured their subject that you just needed to do something about it? Julie Tanikawa’s powers don’t always manifest, BUT WHEN THEY DO-
Spook - Takes place about five years later also in Avicenna (North Avicenna to be exact). Farrell and Julie have just moved in together into a loft and Ben heads up from Los Angeles to help them move in. Turns out the loft is haunted by a previous resident in the silliest way possible, and it sure as hell wants Farrell out. Farrell and Ben employ an old acquaintance to help with deciphering what to do about it, and Farrell has the idea to challenge it to a duel. The weapons of choice? Bad poetry. Bad poetry. It’s ridiculous and fun as fuck. First published in a 2008 3-story collection called Strange Roads and reprinted in 2009′s We Don’t Talk About My Brother. Beagle says he looked forward to recording an audiobook version, but I’ve not found any evidence that it exists, especially not post-Connor Cohran. Will be reprinted in The Essential Peter S. Beagle, Volume I and no audiobook is listed yet.  One of the nice things about these stories is that Farrell is such an ordinary dude, and yet he is alarmingly well educated in medieval music, mythology, and far more across that board. Farrell just owns a lute and knows how to play it, for example, and he can take any piece of classical music and arrange it for his lute. Farrell can be the best kind of pedant and is remarkably accepting and empathetic of other people and their situations, supernatural or no. And for as much as he tries to keep his head down and out of other people’s business, when their business comes knocking he’s thoughtful about where they’re coming from and just does his best to deal. Beagle also shines here in his knowledge of what people are like as they age and even though marriage in the traditional sense may not be the best fit for them, remaining life partners still is. I found Lila the Werewolf the toughest read, as it’s about toxic relationships with no easy answer, and Julie’s Unicorn easily the sweetest tale of the lot. The Folk of the Air takes a little while to get into, but once it gets going it keeps up that steam and all the characterization is handled memorably well. Spook is by far the most fun and we even get a little backstory into how Farrell and Julie met. Beagle tends to know when to come back to and touch base with characters he’s not quite done with yet, so if he ever writes more of what’s going on in the world of Joe Farrell it’s bound to be an entertaining ride.

I laughed way to hard for way to long on your supernatural Au. Is this AU gonna focuse on Adrien and Nino's bromance? Are there others in class who are also supernatural? Oh! Does like everyone know Adrien is supernatural but think they only know about it? And the class is reason is some variation of " Adrien is my good friend, I'll keep his secret no problemo"
the fun part of the supernatural au is everyone has Something going on but they think they're the only ones that do. like being gay in school
it would mostly focus on the nino/adrien bromance and the two of them finding out everyone else has something insane going on. Luka is a siren and his songs are soothing bc of it. Ivan is a troll and turns to stone if sunlight hits him. Nathaniel is a headless horseman but he lost his horse so he's really just a guy with a skull issue. Marc is a unicorn. Emelie is also a vampire but wasn't waking up in her coffin bc she wanted to avoid Gabe bc they had an argument 2 years ago and she's petty. Gabe was human but Nathalie is a witch. She's not good at being a witch. She keeps hexing her computer on accident.
Oh, Lila is also a normal human, but she doesn't last long in class.

Love Alya thinking about what she'll need to be a reporter! Makes sense she'd need literature courses.
And I love clarification on what Nino wants to do! I wasn't sure whether he would put "DJ" or "Movie Director", he's done both repeatedly.
No surprise that Mylene wants to be an environmental advocate. Didn't expect Ivan wanting to be a stay-at-home dad though XD
Tumblr media
Rose wants to be a hairstylist to unicorns or dragons. Marinette tells her there's no such thing, but I think she might be a little hasty on that, considering the magic that's around. Doesn't seem like it'd have a very large clientele though.
And Juleka wants to be a mortician. Guess she's comfortable around dead bodies?
Sabrina as a nurse, since she likes taking care of people. I can see that. I wonder whether she'll end up changing her mind on that front.
Of course Lila wants to solve every international conflict, fix climate, and give free candy to everyone. Yeah that fits.

Miraculous Barbie: Ondine’s Swan Lake
Please enjoy the second part of my Barbie movie adaptation series, with Ondine as the lead dancer! @imsparky2002 @artzychic27
"You're braver than you think."
CAST:
Ondine Rivas as Odette
Lê Chiến Kim as Prince Daniel
Missy Rutherford as Lila the Unicorn
Caline Bustier as The Fairy Queen
Gabriel Agreste as Rothbart
Lila Rossi as Odile
Denise Cabello as Carlita the Skunk
Simon O’Connor as Ivan the Porcupine
Anais Ackerman as Erasmus
Arturo Rivas as Odette’s Father
And so our story begins…
Long ago, in a faraway kingdom, in a peaceful village there lived a beautiful maiden. Her name was Ondine, and she was the daughter of the village baker. She was known through the village for her fiery red hair, gemlike teal eyes, and the fact that she was an exquisite dancer!
Ondine, however, was a sweet, quiet and rather shy girl, content to keep to herself and assist her father in the bakery, dancing around the kitchen with a smile on her face. She also happened to be quite athletic, loving to swim and run…but always by herself.
Her father, Arturo, sometimes worried about her and would suggest every now and again that she attend the dances that took place in the village. But Ondine would think of everyone there staring at her and she just couldn’t do it.
Not far away, in the palace of the kingdom in which this village laid, lived the energetic, adventurous, and rather strapping Prince Kim. He was always up for a challenge, loving to be told he couldn’t do something just to prove the person wrong. He loved to hunt and explore the wilderness around him…but not without reminders from his mother, Queen Mai, that he would soon need to choose someone to marry and rule by his side.
Back in the village, Ondine was content with her peaceful, quiet life…but that life was about to change. One fateful day, while Ondine was laying out the day’s inventory, she couldn’t believe her eyes when a unicorn ran right by the bakery’s window, chased by several villagers with weapons. Afraid they might hurt the beautiful creature, Ondine followed close behind.
But the unicorn was clever and escaped her pursuers several times, even using a stray ax to cut a rope around her neck short. She then proceeded to take off into the forest, with Ondine being compelled to follow her, partly because of the rope still around her neck, which could cause trouble.
Ondine followed the unicorn to an old fallen tree that led into a waterfall, and rushed to help her when she slipped. But the unicorn got back up and slipped through a passageway behind the falls that she opened with her horn, giving the redhead a look that said “Well, are you coming?” Hesitantly, the girl followed just as the passage slipped closed again. She emerges from the stone tunnel in a clearing in the midst of a gorgeous and lush forest, by a crystalline pond.
Ondine heard alarmed winnying and came upon the unicorn once more, and sure enough, the rope still tied around her neck had gotten stuck in some tree roots. Spotting Ondine, the unicorn asked in perfect English if the girl planned to just stand there gawking or help her, shocking Ondine. But nonetheless, she went to look for something sharp to cut the rope.
Ondine comes across an ancient tree, and sees something shimmering in its trunk. She gets closer and sees that it’s a beautiful crystal, which she goes to pull out to cut the rope. She is able to pull it out easily, to the surprise of her unseen observers, a skunk named Denise, a porcupine named Simon, and the Fairy Queen, Caline.
Ondine returns to the unicorn, who is shocked to see her holding the crystal, as the fairy queen and the animals approach. Ondine apologizes and tries to return it, but Caline tells her the crystal belongs to her now and that they’ve been waiting for her for a long time. She also thanks her for helping the young unicorn, whose name is revealed to be Missy. She then scolds Missy, reminding her that she knows better than to venture into the realm of humans, as a creature from the Enchanted Forest can be killed by one. Missy apologizes but states she had thought she might be able to find something to defeat someone she calls “Bird Brain”.
Caline then goes on to explain to Ondine the importance of the crystal she holds. She tells her how, many years ago, her cousin Gabriel had lived peacefully in the Enchanted Forest with her and the other magical creatures. But when the time came for her uncle to choose his successor as the ruler of the forest, he had chosen Caline over Gabriel. Furious, Gabriel left the forest...only to return years later with his daughter, Lila, in tow, now a master of dark magic. He began taking over parts of the forest, with Caline's attempts to force him to leave proving futile. Many of the Forest's bravest elves, including Simon and Denise, banded together to try and confront him, but were transformed into common forest animals and forced to build his new, dark palace.
Caline then tells Ondine that as the one who freed the crystal from the tree, she is destined to overcome Gabriel's dark powers and save the forest from certain destruction. But the very thought of taking on a dark sorcerer and being responsible for saving an entire realm, and summarily letting all those people down, terrifies Ondine and she wants to return to the village, sure that this must be a mistake, disheartening the Enchanted Forest creatures. But Missy can sense that the Fairy Queen sees something special in the redhead, and decides to go after her.
As they are walking back towards the entrance, Missy gives Ondine a very...eccentric and unusual pep talk, but some of her words are solid, and she assures Ondine that she can tell the girl is a lot braver than she believes herself to be. But at that moment, two enormous, dark birds swoop down from the sky, before transforming and revealing themselves to be Gabriel and Lila.
The two mock Ondine about how she could possibly be the hero of the forest, before Gabriel asks Lila if she would like a new feather pillow. He then uses his dark magic to transform Ondine into a swan!
Before he can do any more damage, Missy rams him with her horn, allowing Ondine to fly away. She meets again with Caline, who presents her with a crown that contains the magic crystal, which will protect her from Gabriel's dark sorcery. It's then that Gabriel reappears, confronting Caline and demanding she hand over the magic crystal, but the Fairy Queen refuses. Gabriel tries to attack Ondine with his magic once more, but the crystal serves as a barrier. Frustrated, he retakes his bird form and flies away with Lila, who complains she didn't get her feather pillow.
Ondine asks Caline if she can change her back into a human, but sadly the Fairy Queen's powers are not strong enough to do so. Like with Simon, Denise and the other elves who were able to escape Gabriel's palace, Caline is able to change her back into a human, but only until the sunrise. At daybreak, she will change back into a swan, the same as the elves transform back into animals.
Ondine resolved that there must be some way to defeat Gabriel, and Caline tells her that the answer lays in the Book of Forest Lore, which can only be opened by the bearer of the crystal. Missy volunteers to take her to the book, which Caline explains is guarded by an…eccentric troll named Anais. She gives the two a magical leaf to serve as a key to the book’s vault and sends them on their way.
Meanwhile, in the palace, Kim is supposed to be preparing for the ball his mother has arranged, inviting eligible young ladies from all across the kingdom, while all he hopes is that maybe he can at least form something of a real connection with one of them. He also knows that the best season for hunting will soon pass...
Back in the Enchanted Forest, Ondine and Missy reach the entrance to the forest vault, and use the leaf-key to enter. They enter the massive library, and are greeted by Anais, who is excited to have some company for the first time in ages. Unfortunately, the library is quite messy, and the three spend all night searching for the Book of Forest Lore, and Ondine changes back into a swan at daybreak.
In Gabriel's dark palace, Lila complains that she has nothing to wear, even as she combs through her scores of jewelry and dresses. As Gabriel paces the room deep in thought, she asks why he can't simply destroy Ondine, seeing as 'any old human could do it!' Gabriel then realizes that now that Ondine is a creature of the Enchanted Forest, not even the crystal’s magic can protect her from a human! And so he puts a plan into action…
The next evening, when Kim is out riding and hunting in the woods, he’s led by the biggest eagle he’s ever seen into the Enchanted Forest, when he spies a gorgeous swan flying through the air, though he doesn’t see the eagle pursuing it. But as he readies to take the shot…he can’t, mesmerized by the lovely creature. And it’s a good thing, because as the swan lands, the sun begins to set, and the bird transforms into the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen in his life. He approaches her, surprising Ondine, who asks how he got into the forest, adding a hasty “your highness” to the question. Kim is surprised she knows who he is, and Ondine explains that she lives in the village. Well, she did, before, you know…
Angry that his plan failed, Gabriel swoops down as Ondine is explaining everything that’s happened to her to Kim. The prince angrily calls Gabriel out for trying to use him to kill the girl, to which Gabriel scoffs and goes to attack him with magic, but Ondine steps up to shield him with the crystal. Gabriel goes to attack again, but is distracted by a screeching Lila, who is in the midst of being bombarded by some of Denise’s skunk friends.
Ondine and Kim begin talking and a crush is quick to develop on both sides as she shows him around the Enchanted Forest. He comes to see her for the next few nights, the two discovering they have quite a bit in common, such as a love for athletics and similar, goofy senses of humor. On one night he comes to visit, the elves even set up a romantic picnic for them, leaving both flustered. On this night, he asks her to come to back to the palace with him, where she’ll be protected from Gabriel, but Ondine explains that she has to help the creatures of the Enchanted Forest. He understands, but invites her to attend the royal ball in a few days, to which she agrees. Before he leaves, Ondine asks him to tell her father that she’s alright, and he promises to do so.
Kim arrives at the bakery, but finds Arturo isn’t there. The local cobbler explains that the man is out looking for his daughter, and Kim asks the man to send the baker to the palace once he returns, and the cobbler agrees.
Back in the forest, Anais has finally located the Book of Forest Lore, and brings it to Caline and Ondine. Reading it, they discover that the bearer of the crystal can defeat any evil magic when joined with one they truly love, and who loves them in return. The Enchanted Forest creatures rejoice at this, as everyone could see the sparks flying between Ondine and the prince. However, the book also says that if the one the bearer loves swears love to another, the crystal’s power will be lost.
And so the magical creatures prepare Ondine for the ball so as to ensure Kim will pledge his love to her. Ondine doubts this will happen, as Kim is the prince while she is a mere baker’s daughter, but Caline reassures her that she is beautiful inside and out, and gifts her a gorgeous dress for the ball (Odette’s Ballgown). Ondine is also nervous because she has never danced at a royal ball, and a few of the elves demonstrate, with Simon doing a lively river dance and Denise a vivacious salsa number. Ondine herself performs a gorgeous ballet dance with all the elves, that they all assure her will be perfect!
However, just after this, Gabriel swoops down and abducts Anais, carrying them away to his castle, along with the Book of Forest Lore. Having used too much of her magical powers, Caline is unable to stop him. Having transformed back with the sunrise, Ondine, Missy, the elves and the Fairy Queen make their way to Gabriel’s castle to rescue Anais.
Reading the Book of Forest Lore, Gabriel discovers the crystal’s weakness, and devises a plan to trick Kim into professing his love to Lila in place of Ondine, by way of a magical necklace that disguises his daughter as the one the prince truly loves, i.e. the redhead. Anais angrily declares that his plan won’t work, prompting Gabriel to transform it into an inchworm.
Outside the dark palace, Ondine and her companions devise a plan to rescue Anais. Ondine flies to the entrance near the roof, with Missy and the enchanted elves providing cover and diversion for her. There are a few close calls, but she manages to get in and save the transformed Anais, who explains Gabriel’s plan to everyone. Ondine resolves that she must go now, regardless of the dangers, if she’s to have a hope of saving everyone. If Kim sees her as a swan, he’ll realize he’s been tricked, and they’ll still have a chance! With that, Ondine leaves for the palace.
That afternoon, Kim is waiting for Ondine at the ball, his parents eager to meet the girl that’s captured their adventurous son’s heart. It’s then that Gabriel, having spelled himself to look like Arturo, arrives with the disguised Lila, and sure enough, Kim sees Ondine in her place when he looks at her, and takes her to meet his parents. Lila is a surprisingly good actress, and is able to imitate Ondine quite convincingly.
With that, Kim takes to the dance floor with Lila, with Ondine, in her swan form, having just arrived. She desperately tries to get the prince’s attention, but Gabriel uses his magic to shut the windows, keeping her from entering.
Overhearing Kim ask the disguised Lila if she would consider being his bride, Gabriel approaches the two and asks the prince if he truly loves her. Believing the girl he speaks of to be Ondine, he answers wholeheartedly that he does. Outside the ballroom, the real Ondine collapses as the crystal is stripped of its power. It’s then that Gabriel removes the enchantments on himself and Lila, revealing the horrible truth. Kim demands to know what he did to Ondine, with Gabriel sneeringly answering that he himself doomed the girl when he swore his love to Lila, who mockingly asks when they should have the wedding, before leaving with her father.
As the sun sets, the unconscious Ondine returns to her human form, Gabriel stealing the crown from her cold forehead and presenting it to an eager Lila after he removes the crystal. He affixes the crystal to his collar and prepares to destroy Ondine. Only for Lila to call out for him just in time to dodge a strike from the prince’s sword. Gabriel shatters Kim’s sword with his magic and mocks the boy as the Enchanted Forest denizens arrive, pulled in a coach by Missy. Caline assures the distraught unicorn and elves that Ondine is still alive, sending her magic sprites to retrieve the girl as Kim distracts Gabriel.
Gabriel fires a spell at the prince, who ducks behind Lila, causing it to hit her by mistake, transforming her into a pig! Lila begins to throw a fit, but Gabriel leaves to pursue the coach with Ondine, telling Lila to be quiet for the first time in her life. They flee for the Enchanted Forest, but Gabriel crashes the coach. He demands they hand Ondine over to him, but Missy, Denise and Simon step up to shield her. Caline tells him to leave Ondine alone, as it’s her that his fight is with. Gabriel agrees and the two engage in a battle of magic, which ends when he transforms the Fairy Queen into a mouse! Missy and the two elves try to fight back, but he easily repels them.
Just as Gabriel is again about to blast the sleeping Ondine with his magic, an arrow stops him in his tracks. As the dark sorcerer prepares to deal with Kim once and for all, Ondine awakens and sees the prince in danger. She rushes to help him, drawing Gabriel’s attention, and Gabriel sends his dark magic towards her, only for Kim to try and shield her, knowing she no longer has the protection of the crystal, sending them both to the ground, their hands clasped together.
As Gabriel prepares to destroy them, the crystal around his neck begins to glow brightly, the same color as when it was used by Ondine before, revealing that its power isn’t gone, reawakened by the love between the swan maiden and the prince and their sacrifice for one another. Gabriel is overwhelmed by the magic of love within the crystal, and loses his dark powers. His castle crumbles and all of his evil spells are undone. The elves regain their original forms, along with the Fairy Queen. Life and light returns to the entire Enchanted Forest, as Ondine and Kim awaken in each other’s arms, the curse on the girl lifted. Relieved that their ordeal is finally over, the two share a kiss.
Two years later, the entire village is celebrating the two’s engagement in the Enchanted Forest, and Arturo asks the prince a very important question: How many layers for the wedding cake?
And they all lived happily ever after! (Except for Gabriel and Lila, who spent the rest of their lives as cuckoo clock birds!)
Spread your wings and fly! Leave your thoughts in the comments and reblogs, and watch for the next installment!

HC: TUA game night
1. Luther
Luther will always bring out the Monopoly. No matter how much everyone protests, he always wants to play Monopoly. Until one day you join for game night and when you see him pull it out, you go: “Oh, did we not want friends anymore? Because you only play that game when you don’t want friends.” Luther looks down at it in confusion then immediately returns it to the pile of games.
2. Diego
Diego always wants to play Twister. He really has two main reasons. First, he’s really good at it. And second, when it’s not his turn playing everyone looks so fucking hilarious he can’t help but love it.
3. Allison
Allison isn’t the type to commit to a long board game, so she sticks to the shorter 20-30 minute card games. She does really love Sushi Go Party and FLUXX.
4. Klaus
Klaus loves party games. Especially ones where you have to guess stuff, like Code Names, Taboo or Mysterium. If he can get Ben to be on his team, they’re an unstoppable force. After the 5th time they obliterate everyone else, the family forbids them from being on the same team for any game that involve guessing.
5. Five
Five might look like the kind of guy who likes strategy games, but he just likes the silly ones. He loves Exploding Kittens and Unstable Unicorns. He’s very good at them and is always trying to beat his own record for quickest winning time.
6. Ben
Ben loves long complicated games. He’ll play just about anything, but if given the choice, he’ll pick a game that goes for hours and hours or even across multiple sessions if he can get away with it. He loves Betrayal of House on the Hill or Pandemic or even Dead of Winter.
7. Viktor
Viktor really doesn’t care what games they play. They just really enjoy spending bonding time with their family. If he had to choose, he likes some of the longer card games. He’s always down for Sushi Go Party, but he also likes things like Munchkin and is always down for a game of Jenga.
Bonus!Lila
Lila loves those murder mystery type games. Like Werewolf or Coup. She also really loves Betrayal of House on the Hill, but only if she gets to be the bad guy.
Bonus 2.0 Sparrow!Ben
This Ben likes word games because he is good at them. Also because he can make fun of the other people playing. His go to is Scrabble, but will also murder at Bananagrams.

Alright so Corner, if we did see the dead character accessories what object would symbolize them?
Okay this gets a little trickier given that the other world characters might have slightly different designs like we saw with Nino and Alya's alt selves BUT assuming they have similar accessories:
Chloé - her sunglasses, of course
Alix - one of her skates
Juleka - the braclet hand mirror thing that became her Akuma item as Reflekta
Mylene - either the pin she got from Ivan way back, or the beads in her hair
Max - assuming Markov doesn't count, probably his glasses
Nino - hat! I know his alt design has the beanie so that one then but ya know what I mean
Rose - she doesn't have too many offhand accessories so if it has to be something on her person I'd say a shoe, but we could also go with anything with unicorns like a plushie or something
Sabrina - hm. I'd say her headband to keep from the 'all the glasses' thing
Kim - let's have it be his armband to reference his 'death' in Horrificator lmao
Zoé - Gotta go with those shoes since they were in focus for a while when she first shwoed up, but could also go beanie or jacket.
I have no thoughts on Ivan or Nathaniel or Lila.

I was just going to leave part of this in a comment on Infected Unicorn but I changed my mind
Your take on Jeremiah's warped perception of time is really making me think lol. I love it though, don't get me wrong. I'm really interesting to see how this pans out.
But, applying this idea to the actual show: I hadn't considered him fully believing even parts of his own lie (the story about Jerome taking a cake knife to his throat on his 10th birthday and trying to light his bed on fire) because from what I was seeing it appeared that he was full aware of what actually happened, and more importantly for this, when it happened.
But if he truly believed he was still at home by the time he was 10, despite having being taken away when he was 7, I have to rethink a few things.
He would be suffering from a dissociative disorder, specifically a type of derealization, likely as a response to trauma. It could also be a potential coping mechanism to keep himself from realizing how long it's really been since he lost Jerome.
The fact he kept contact with Lila meant he didn't feel as removed from her, he still had that link to his mother until he left the Wildes (it's unclear whether this would have been at 12 when he started college or at 16 when his bunker was completed) but presumably those letters were dated in some manner, even if just indirectly through whatever schedule they were sent on. You could easily use them to figure out how long Jeremiah had been with the Wildes, and the birthdays and holiday wishes would keep track of the years. Regardless, there was a record of how long they'd been apart.
But he had no contact with Jerome, and he knew the kinds of horrible things their mother would do to him, and he had been the only one there for his brother, and, and, and.
To keep himself from spiraling down that train of thought, he would have began lying to himself about how long they had been apart, and it's fully possible that he started believing his own lie. In fact, as a kid, it is so much easier to ignore a painful reality and just believe in a lie. Even of your own creation.
And that would play into his antisocial behaviours. Anyone could tell him he was wrong, anyone could make him see the truth, because in the early stages of a delusion like this it's fragile and your mind does everything in its power to protect it. So he shut out everyone.
Until Ecco came into his life. Someone was picking on Jeremiah, and he didn't fight back. He couldn't, he didn't know how, Jerome had always either stood up for him or was enough discouragement to the other kids in the circus. He didn't have Jerome at St. Ignatius though. He was alone. Until someone did stand up for him, a girl he'd maybe seen in a few classes, Ecco. She offered him some kind words and protection from the bullies, and although he tried to push her away at first she was persistent. Who else in his life had been persistent? Jerome. He saw the same first spirit in this girl as he'd seen in his own twin. Slowly, he let her in more and more, and the more time he spent with this girl the more he saw his brother.
And I'm sorry this is irrelevant and off topic and I'm just rambling. But uh... yeah, I'm basically doing Harley's job myself atm and I wish I could talk to her even more now because I have so much I could tell her, and she can probably get some information that I couldn't from two measly episodes and Jerome's pining rambling about his twin, and yeah. Basically everything in Jeremiah's life revolves around Jerome. Ecco, Bruce, even the mazes and labyrinths, it ALL comes back to Jerome and their separation, and you've just added another layer for me
Don't say sorry, this is great! Thank you for feeding me Valeskacest content. I will devour it unapologetically. 🥰
You're blowing my mind right now when you compared Harley to Jerome, at least from Jeremiah's perspective. That's such an interesting twist! And one I hadn't considered. I can see why it'd be easier for Jeremiah to trust a doctor who, in some ways, reminds him of Jerome. He would still have to give up his authenticity in order to develop that attachment to Harley though.
You're right about the letters, and I wonder if Jeremiah would keep them? But in doing so it's just another record of time, and I don't think he'd like the reminders. Maybe he has Ecco dispose of them, or take them to another location (security box at the bank maybe?). OH! Jeremiah never said if he wrote back to his mother. He received letters but he never explicitly stated he wrote back to her. What if the letters were going to the Wilde family? Or another source? Like if he used a PO box address. Because this guy wants to be unknown, undetectable, untraceable.
The way you wrapped that up at the end *Chef's kiss* Jeremiah's life revolves around Jerome, and he can't escape it, no matter how many lies he tells himself (and others).

Short Hair: A Stammering Adrien AU Moment
Based on this AU.
Lila wants to leave her past behind her. No more lusting for power, no more backstabbing, no more lies, and no more long hair. She decides to reinvent her look as part of her reformation, and has turned to her bubbly and bright-eyed classmate, Rose Lavillant.
Lila: *sitting still* Thanks for doing this for me rose.
Rose: You’re welcome, Lila. And thank you for letting me do this. *snips a bit more hair off* It’s great practice for when I become a hairdresser for unicorns!
Lila: Uh, Rose, I’m not sure unicorns exist,
Rose: Dragons then. *snips* Almost done.
Lila: Good. This is great. It’s like the old me is getting swept away. *sigh* You know, for so long, I’ve had plans to do so many awful things, and to do them, I just started lying. I’ve lied about who I was, where I came from, who I knew, even how I looked. *takes out green eye contacts* But not anymore. I’m owning up to who I am.
Rose: That’s great. *snips off last bit* There you go. How do you feel?
Lila: *looks at her new, short haircut and brown eyes, and puts on a confident smile* I feel like me. Lila Cerise Rossi.

Bethany's Bizarre Miraculous Reviews Episode 3-22: Chat Blanc
Fun fact: One nickname I often have for Chat Noir is Cattablack (also my hypothetical name if I had the Black Cat Miraculous,) from "Cat Black," which is the English translation of "Chat Noir." However, the etymology for English black has the same origins as French White (also the word blank!), so in a sense, Cattablack is both Chat Noir and Chat Blanc! On with the show.
Straight to Emile's corpse. Also I have to wonder, where are those enormous windows with light shining through in the Agreste Manor? They have to be someplace open to daylight at least.
Awawawawa! The girlsquad! Also they do picnics, sleepovers, and the movies. Noted.
That "No." cut was great, though. Good on Marinette for not giving up, however. Good for Marinette on not quitting, the girlsquad for encouraging her, and Rose for having enough of this shit! Losing her favorite unicorn plushie probably helped.
But don't break into his house! He's not there, you weirdo! As much as I want this mahogany to end and for Adrien to friendzone her, stalking is NOT the way! On the other hand, if she did break and enter, it could out Marinette as a creep...
SHE'S SNIFFING THE PILLOW!?
Oh god now that he's connected the dots he's in love with Marinette. Plagg's trying his hardest but it's too late.
Oh right. This is the episode where Chat Noir gets akumatized and causes the End of Evangelion. Not what I normally think of when I think of Marinette and Adrien's relationship having catastrophic consequences, but still.
Also again with the time travel plots not making sense. Is the future set in stone or not!? Why are only things only disappearing when they change in Bunnix's rewind vision? It's Bill and Ted 3 all over again.
On the plus side, Marinette with her hair down.
Alix looking so uninterested while cheering and the animation errors lmao
Hadouken Cataclysm lmao
You know, Marinette's parents could've called CPS on Gabriel's controlling attitude, or Marinette could've explained truthfully why she broke up with Adrien.
So that's his response to discovering his father is Hawkmoth. Good to know.
That was a good mental breakdown. 10/10 there.
Bunnix, why are you getting a teenaged Ladybug to fix this? Can't you do it? Can't the adult Ladybug do it?
The end of the world!? That looks more like the end of at least two galaxies! Holy hell!
You could've just said the gift was from Marinette, Ladybug. Whatever.
So was that sunset scene in the normal or Chat Blanc timeline? I'm confused.
Well that was an interesting episode. Here's how Marinette and Adrien's relationship can ruin everything without Hawkmoth or any evil butterfly holder!
As we know, Marinette is obsessed with Adrien, to stalkerish levels, as shown by this very episode with her sniffing Adrien's pillow when she's all alone in his room.
She also shows controlling tendencies with her schedule of Adrien allowing her to know where he is for most of the time and her stealing his phone to delete an embarrassing message she sent him.
She's also prone to being vengeful, such as when Chloe, Lila, or Kagami get closer to Adrien then her.
Let's keep these traits in mind as we imagine there being no evil Butterfly or Peacock Miraculous users, maybe even no evil at all. Most likely those Miraculouses are in the good hands of the guardian, or Marinette. Also imagine that Marinette and Adrien know eachothers' identities and are older and dating, if not married.
On one day, Adrien arrives home a little later than usual for Marinette. Maybe he didn't keep track of time while spending time with his friends. Maybe he had to walk home and his phone was out of power.
Marinette starts to get worried. She tries to call him. He doesn't respond, either due to how noisy the social gathering is or because is phone is out.
When Adrien finally gets back, Marinette starts to fuss over him. She was so worried! She's so glad he's back. Where was he? He shouldn't do that again. Adrien doesn't think it's that big of a deal, but Marinette disagrees. The gap has formed.
Adrien at least tries to be more punctual, but that doesn't always work. Marinette starts to get more and more worried. What if he's cheating on her with someone else? She's had similar worries in the show, after all.
These conflicts begin to escalate. Marinette's concern for Adrien begins to turn to concern that he's doing something behind her back. An argument breaks out. Adrien notes that Marinette's acting like his father. This makes things worse.
Tension begins to build up until Marinette, someone who as Ladybug had to save so many of her loved ones by fighting them, does something she shouldn't have and immediately regrets. Maybe Adrien was in another verbal fight with her. Maybe he was going out somewhere, possibly to come back late or early.
Adrien Agreste is now in critical condition. It's unknown when he'll wake up, if ever. Marinette has to right this wrong and make sure this never happened, no matter what it takes.
If Tikki and Plagg didn't escape with their Miraculouses as they watched this relationship go to hell, all of reality shall be annihilated and recreated.
If one or both of them did manage to escape, then hey, she has or can easily take the Butterfly miraculous! All she needs to do is turn someone into a super and help them out with their problems in exchange for the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculouses, wherever they are!
This isn't ensured to happen, but you have to admit Marinette has a lot of similarities to Gabriel Agreste, especially in regards to how she views Adrien. Not to mention that nowhere in the show is she ever really punished for those above negative traits. At points they're even excused.
Edit: Almost forgot to mention that Natalie seems to show remorse upon discovering Adrien is Chat Noir. More points for her!
