An Oklahoma judge has dismissed the reparations lawsuit filed by the last three known survivors of the Tulsa race massacre on Friday, court records show.
The three had sued the City of Tulsa, other groups, and officials over the opportunities taken from them when the city’s Greenwood neighborhood was burned to the ground in 1921.
Lessie Benningfield Randle, 108, Viola Fletcher, 109, and her brother, Hughes Van Ellis, 102, were among the plaintiffs.
The plaintiffs maintaned that the damage inflicted during the massacre was a “public nuisance” from the start and were seeking relief from that nuisance as well as to “recover for unjust enrichment” others have gained from the “exploitation of the massacre.
The family attorneys are expected to address the possibility of an appeal.

#MiguelPilgram [@miguelpilgram] is committed to reviving and preserving #SistrunkBoulevard, the “historical heartbeat of Fort Lauderdale’s oldest Black community.” The street was named after #AfricanAmerican physician James Sistrunk who helped establish Broward County’s first #Blackhospital in 1938. The booming boulevard fell into ruin after desegregation, however, as it was plagued by gun violence, drugs and abandoned buildings. Pligram has already bought three buildings and has plans to build a jazz lounge, restaurants, retail, performing arts centers and residential space, according to the NBC 6 news site.

Regrann from @hiphopuniteddaily @unheardvoicesmag A Pennsylvania man who plead guilty to fatally shooting 18-year-old #BiancaRoberson in a road-rage incident on a Chester County highway was sentenced Thursday to 20 to 40 years in state prison, the statutory maximum for third-degree murder. #DavidDesper ,29, shot Roberson in the head in West Goshen Township last year after they jockeyed for space on a highway merger. CBS Philly reports, the emotional sentencing lasted several hours as Roberson’s family, prosecutors, and the judge were in tears. Even Desper’s defense attorney could not hold back tears. During sentencing, prosecutors talked about the day Roberson was killed in June 2017. They say it started as one of the happiest days of her life, as the recent Bayard Rustin High School graduate went shopping with her mother and grandmother at a West Chester Walmart for college supplies. Roberson’s mother told her daughter to drive straight home because she had a surprise for her, but she never made it because she was gunned down by Desper in a road rage shooting, prosecutors said. Bianca's father asked Desper, “Why did you pull that trigger and kill my daughter? Was it because she was young? Because she was black? Because she was a woman? Because you wanted to go first in a lane?” Desper later told the court he “was just afraid. Her car swerved at me a few times, I squeezed the gun, couldn’t believe what happened. Though, ‘Why is this happening to me?'” At the end of the hearing, the judge said in a tearful statement, “I listened to everything that was presented here. Mr. Desper, I believe you are sorry. I believe you would take it all back if you could. I don’t believe you were afraid. If you are afraid when driving, you hit the break.” The Desper and Roberson families left the court agreeing with the judge’s sentencing. Accepted into 8/8 Ivy League school #blackgirlmagic #blackexcellence A New Jersey teen has to make a decision that most seniors dream of – choosing which Ivy league school she will attend in the Fall. The only problem is, Ifeoma White-Thorpe was accepted to all 8 Ivy league schools. Ifeoma White-Thorpe said she was shaking when she got the eighth acceptance letter. “I was like, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, like this might be eight out of eight and I clicked it and it said ‘Congratulations’ and I was like oh my goodness!” White-Thorpe told CNN affiliate WABC-TV White-Thorpe, a senior and student government president at Morris Hills High School in Rockaway, has to choose between Yale, Harvard, Cornell, Columbia, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, Dartmouth and Brown. She was also accepted to Stanford. She wants to study biology and pursue a career in global health. Since all of the Ivy League schools “have great research facilities,” she decided to apply to them all. Like Us On Facebook This is an incredible feat as only a few get accepted to all 8 ivy league schools. She now holds that accomplishment with Kwasi Enin in 2014, Harold Ekeh in 2015 and Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna and Kelly Hyles who got accepted to all schools with the last few years. Ifeoma’s parents say it is totally up to their daughter on where she will attend. White-Thorpe says she just doesn’t know yet. Via ~ @unheardvoicesmag

The mother of George Floyd's daughter plans to file a $250 million lawsuit against Kanye West over his recent statements about Floyd's death. The rapper, who goes by Ye, falsely claimed on #DrinkingChamps podcast that Floyd died from fentanyl, not as the result of police brutality.
"Kanye's comments are a repugnant attempt to discount George Floyd's life and to profit from his inhumane death," attorney Pat D. Dixon III told Complex in a statement on Tuesday, adding that the goal with the lawsuit is to "hold Mr. West accountable" for his "flagrant remarks."
The lawsuit will go after West's "business partners" and "associates" as the comments caused "harassment, misappropriation, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress."
Roxie Washington, acting on behalf of her and Floyd's only child, Gianna, retained the Witherspoon Law Group and Dixon & Dixon Attorneys at Law. They also fired off a cease and desist to West.

#Repost from @unheardvoicesmag ・・・ Four white women from the #Memphis suburb of #Cordova , #Tennessee , conducted a social experiment after a group of Black teenagers were targeted by Wolfchase Galleria’s alleged “No Hoodie” policy last week. Sherry Ennis and her three friends saw the viral video captured by former Journalist Kevin McKenzie , of four young Black men being thrown out of the Memphis mall on Nov. 3 for supposedly violating its code of conduct policy by wearing hoodies in the mall. One of the young men was even arrested within moments of the incident. The women decided to challenge the policy by wearing hoodies to the same mall to bring light to #racialprofiling . “It just struck a chord on us that we could do that,” Sherry Ennis, one of the women, told #Fox13 . “We could walk through there, we could take pictures, we could wear whatever we wanted.” Shannon Arthur, another woman who participated in the experiment posted about it on her Facebook page. “Sometimes our hoods were up, sometimes our hoods were down,” Arthur wrote. “If a security guard spotted us with our hoods up, they very politely asked us to take them down. One guard said it was because they need to be able to identify everybody’s faces. So we said, ‘Sure,’ took them down, walked on, and put the hoods back up a bit later. Repeat. No threats. Point made.” McKenzie told the TV station the young #blackmen who were asked to leave the mall didn’t have their hoods pulled over their heads before police got involved, and Ennis said she and her friends had proved a point. “We’re not against law enforcement, no rules at all, but if they’re enforced equally, I’m up for that,” Ennis said. “We made a total point that it’s not enforced equally.” #wolfchasegalleria #BlackLivesMatter #WhitePrivilege #BlackMen #BlackBoys https://www.instagram.com/p/BqLyPKNh7QH/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=t0x3i9k1p7kr
