Top 23 of 2023
Have you been aching to get your hot little hands on 52 weeks of data around original posts, likes, reblogs, and searches, all weighted and ranked and tied up into categories with a nice little bow on top? Well, today’s your day! It should come as no surprise that Artists on Tumblr reign supreme: from stunning traditional art, jaw-dropping digital art, fanart, sculptures, textile art—you name it, basically—this year’s list shows that Tumblr truly is the home for art and artists. Thank you, Artists on Tumblr, for enriching our dashboards day after day.
Rounding out the top three, we have two iconic shows: Good Omens is live-action, and The Owl House is animated, but both have a heck of a love story at their core. The second season of Good Omens blessed us with not one but two ineffably exquisite ships, while the final season of The Owl House broke and then healed fans’ hearts in equal measure. Thanks, @danaterrace! Actually, come to think of it, the Good Omens finale kinda did the same in reverse. Thanks to you, too, @neil-gaiman! We can’t wait for season 3.
Speaking of heartbreak and healing, Our Flag Means Death’s second season offered both in droves. The entire cast gave stellar performances, and fans couldn’t have been happier to see the kinds of representation the show displayed. Last year’s #1 topic, Stranger Things, may have dropped a bit, but trust us, you wouldn’t know it from the amount of meta, fanart, and fics in the tag. And did you hear about the live-action adaptations of both The Last of Us and One Piece? They were a preeeetty big deal this year, too. Check ‘em out if you haven’t yet (lol, of course you have). And we’d be remiss not to mention the hugely dedicated fans, fanartists, and fic writers devoting their time to all things Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Y’all deserve a little pizza, as a treat.
2023 was also a year for blockbuster movies, which of course hasn’t escaped anybody’s notice here on Tumblr. Barbie smashed box offices worldwide and left us reeling with every re-watch. How can one describe Greta Gerwig’s pink-filled opus? It certainly is one of the movies of all time. Meanwhile, with its incredible animation and soundtrack, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse introduced us to a whole new multiverse of Spider-People, opening the portal to a veritable flood of incredible OCs. And then, of course, we got a fresh perspective on an old classic when cinephiles introduced Martin Scorscese’s cinematic masterpiece, Goncharov (1973), to a new generation of film aficionados who resoundingly agree that it is, in fact, the greatest mafia movie ever made. We’re so glad this underrated film finally got the acclaim it has long deserved.
In the realms of gaming and tech, the long-anticipated Baldur’s Gate 3 has basically become everyone’s new favorite D&D/dating sim combination. Of course, the Pokémon franchise, games, shows, and Hatsune Miku collabs remain perennial favorites. Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter, sorry, we mean of course X, made waves across the internet. Similarly, the Reddit blackout drove Redditors to new venues, and Tumblr users welcomed the folks from r/196 with open arms—we’re huge fans of your memes, y’all, and you fit right in. Welcome, we’re glad you enjoy the chaos. Here’s a fun fact: if we included post metadata in Year in Review rankings, #polls, introduced in January of 2023, would have been the #5 topic on Tumblr this year. Phenomenal.
And, oh right. Taylor Swift had kind of a big year, what with the albums, the epic global tour, and the movie and stuff. Fantastic work, @taylorswift, the Swifties on Tumblr thank you for everything.
This is Tumblr’s Year in Review.

A list of underrated Christmas movies for everyone who is getting tired of watching the same things every year:
This year, I wanted to make a list of a few Christmas movies that I feel are a bit underrated and under-appreciated, because I’m tired of seeing the same things all the time. If anyone has any suggestions for their own lesser known holiday movies, please feel free to include them!
Arthur Christmas: An animated movie that should be a classic, but it was unfortunately lost to time because it had a horrible marketing campaign that made it look like complete shit. Well, I’m here to tell you that it’s not complete shit. It’s actually fucking amazing.
Arthur, the clumsy son of the current Santa Claus is known for being a lovable idiot who tends to ruin everything he touches, but when a little girl’s present is accidentally left behind one Christmas, Arthur, an elf named Bryony, and his grandfather (a previous Santa…so grandsanta) embark on a chaotic mission around the world to deliver the missing present. Every character in this movie is so fucking funny and empathetic at the same time. Arthur embodies the true meaning of Christmas in everything he does. Bryony is just…on another level entirely. Arthur’s brother Steve (a strategic genius who wants to use his new technology to ensure his place as the next Santa) is a perfect antagonist that the audience still feels sympathy for. They all just have such a fun dynamic, and it’s a crime that more people haven’t seen this.
Tumblr media
Spirited: A fairly new addition to the Christmas movie ranks, since it came out in 2022 (but it was on AppleTV+ so no one watched it). Spirited is a modern, musical version of A Christmas Carol like you’ve never seen before (starring Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds, who are an amazing combination in anything). If you’re tired of seeing endless retellings of Dickens' story, just watch this. It’s hilarious, heartfelt, and it brings a whole new perspective to the story in a way that I’m not going to spoil. And the songs go so hard it’s insane.
Tumblr media
Happiest Season: A rom-com in which a woman named Abby desperately wants to propose to her girlfriend Harper over the holidays during Harper’s family Christmas party…only to realize that Harper’s extremely rich and conservative family doesn’t know she’s gay. Fun rom-com shenanigans ensue. Did I mention Abby is played by Kristen Stewart, and Harper is played by Mackenzie Davis? Also Aubrey Plaza, Alison Brie, and that guy from Schitt’s Creek everyone loves are in it.
This could easily have been a completely different movie if the cast wasn't so funny and didn’t have such good chemistry. It starts out as a standard holiday rom-com, but I was tearing up by the end of this the first time I watched it. If you’ve ever felt like you’ve been hiding your true self from your family or if you’ve felt like you’ve never been good enough for them, I think you’ll see a lot to relate to in this.
Tumblr media
Violent Night: Another new addition to the ever-expanding list of Christmas movies, this aptly named action thriller also came out in 2022, and I feel like no one has spoken about it since, which is a crime because IT WAS SO MUCH FUCKING FUN!
When a grizzled, down on the world Santa (played by David Harbour) gets stuck in a rich family’s house while it’s being overrun by mercenaries, he has to Die Hard his way out and save the hostages (or at least the ones who are worth saving) before it’s too late. This was such a fun surprise, because violent action thrillers are so hit and miss for me personally. David Harbour is great. It’s just under 2 hours of watching shitty people get their comeuppance in unique ways. I’m so offended that it only has a 6.7/10 on IMDB, because this is a great movie to watch with a group of friends and some age appropriate beverages. Yeah, it’s not a masterpiece, and maybe my standards are low, but I had a great time with this.
Tumblr media
Tokyo Godfathers: An anime Christmas classic directed by Satoshi Kon in which 3 homeless people (a former drag queen, a runaway teen, and a grumpy alcoholic) find a baby in a dumpster and try to reunite it with its family. This was the movie that tricked me into thinking Satoshi Kon’s other works would be just as comedic and wholesome as this one. It’s got humor. It’s got heart. It’s got twists and turns that will keep you guessing in the classic Satoshi Kon fashion. And the English dub is just as good as the sub, so you can’t go wrong either way.
Tumblr media
Neo Yokio- Pink Christmas: Speaking of anime…I’ve talked about this one before, but I have to mention it again because it’s a staple for me every year. Pink Christmas is the Christmas special for the…anime (and I use that word in the loosest way possible) Neo Yokio…aka the one starring (and possibly made by?) Jaden Smith.
For anyone who’s never heard of it, Neo Yokio is a series on Netflix that is the closest thing to a professionally made Abridged Series we’ll ever have. The “plot” of the series revolves around Kaz, a pink haired guy who fights demons and does increasingly absurd rich people things with his robot mecha butler named Charles. The Christmas special involves Charles telling Kaz a Christmas story about the city’s Secret Santa competition for all the ultra rich people.
Look, there’s no good way to describe this one, but trust me when I say you don’t have to watch Neo Yokio to understand it, since even people who do watch Neo Yokio don’t understand it. In fact, I think it will be even funnier if you don’t watch Neo Yokio at all before watching Pink Christmas (but I encourage everyone to watch the series too, just because it’s more of the same insanity.)
Every line in it is pure comedic gold, not because it’s truly funny, but because it’s absurd and ridiculous in a way only Jaden Smith can be. I quote it incessantly while eating a Toblerone every year.
Tumblr media
Cabin Pressure at Christmas: Molokai: Okay, it’s not a movie or even a TV special, but I love Cabin Pressure so much that I had to include this too. Cabin Pressure is a comedy radio show (not a podcast, an actual radio show) that aired on BBC Radio 4 in the early 2000s about an airline crew for the world’s shittiest airplane.
For anyone who watched season 2 of Good Omens, you might recognize the name John Finnemore as one of the writers. Well, Cabin Pressure is made by (and stars) the same person. The Christmas episode is one of my favorites of the series, and you 100% don’t need to listen to the entire series to enjoy it. It captures the humor and despair of being stuck with your co-workers on Christmas eve, but it keeps up the spirit regardless. This is another one I quote incessantly, and the whole show has become hardwired into my personality. PLEASE FIND A WAY TO LISTEN TO CABIN PRESSURE! I’m pretty sure the whole series is available on iTunes as an audiobook.
Tumblr media
As honorable mentions, I want to include Rise of the Guardians and Klaus, because even though they have a fair amount of popularity, I still feel like people could appreciate them more. And sure, Rise of the Guardians might be more of an Easter movie, but it still includes Santa as a character, and he’s amazing.
That's all for now. Sorry these are all specifically Christmas themed, but if anyone has movie suggestions for other winter holidays, please throw them in!

✨lewis hamilton’s most underrated mclaren drives ✨
(with special dedication to: @l8tof1 & @sirlew44)
did a lil’ rewatch over the break and wanted to do a post about some of lewis’ most underrated wins/drives in f1 over the years; i realise that there are a lot of them and so i decided to split and do a post for his mclaren days and another one for his mercedes years.
a few words of introduction:
the thing about watching mclaren lewis and why it’s just such a privilege, is that this boy is special; babyfaced rookie picked from the crèche by ron dennis and who was told he’d be half a second off nando’s pace and that he shouldn’t worry, wasn’t just hungry he had something to prove, he will nawt be a second driver even if it’s to the reigning 2x world champion who has just come from beating THE michael schumacher, basically babes wasn’t having it and he put the fear of god into these drivers…and ron dennis (say what you want about that that man, but you can’t deny, he really girlbossed that one thing; giving lewis a car that was capable of winning, was a choice™️, but a very good one and we thank him for that); mclaren lewis is special because he’s hungry, he’s raw and fast, very fast, sometimes too fast and too reckless, but he’s learning, and when you watch these races and these seasons you see him learn and grow and change; all these seasons are different, but those mclaren years are just as important for the lore and who he is now and to witness the evolution of both the driver and the man is truly special; so this small collection of drives is a bit of a crème-de-la-crème if you will of those races that i think aren’t as mentioned in the pantheon of great lewis drives as much as i think they should, so let us begin:
fuji 2007 🇯🇵 aka the first rain dance of og bald baby mclazza rookie lewis, stunting on hoes since ‘07
people keep talking about silvo 2008 (and rightly so) but this one is a bit of a forgotten wet-weather masterpiece; talk about artistic sublimity, this is the racing sublimity of one 22-year-old rookie lewis hamilton; baby lewis was holding off his reigning world champion of a teammate absolutely majestically in torrential conditions, and executing the race and the restarts to perfection (race is also chaos personified so brilliant to rewatch). baby lew became a bit of a headache for the establishment™️ and one fernando alonso and it’s fun to watch.
germany 2008 🇩🇪aka mclaren pitwall terrorising baby lewis (the horrors started way before merc)
a race overshadowed by his brilliance in silverstone two weeks earlier (suffering from success and having consecutive masterclasses amirite), but it’s nearly as brilliant; this is lewis vs massa + the mclaren pitwall deciding to gamble with some fuckass strategy and leaving lewis out for a safety car restart, lewis having to pull massive gaps, driving the wheels of that mp4-23 and then overtake from p5 to take the lead; some brilliant overtakes and lewis displaying incredible race pace; this drive is the lewis hamilton special that massa had no answer for
singapore 2009 🇸🇬 aka lewis decided to serve cunt
to truly appreciate the sheer extent of said cunt serving, you have to watch both quali and the race; mind you, the 2009 mclaren was nawt it, the post-updates mp4-24 was still dogshit compared to lil’ sister mp4-23 and very much an underperforming and unreliable shitbox; the updates also came too late for lewis to put up a proper championship fight; however this did not stop from lewis from putting 2 whole ass seconds on his teammate, take pole ahead of the red bulls and the brawns and then dominate the race, with brilliant tyre management and race pace (40 secs ahead of kova, nearly 10 secs ahead of timo glock in p2 in a truly fuckass mclaren)
brazil 2009 🇧🇷 aka the road to legend is long and twisted and the brazilian racing gods clearly have a plan
p17 to p3; and no you may think this is one of those checo-esque recovery drives where you qualify terribly but have a rocketship so you overtake cars easily and finish the race in a position you should have started the race in; well, the mp4-24 actually qualified terribly in the wet (even post-upgrades, it was also set up for the dry) and was still very much mid on a sunday; lewis however babes was on yet another mission, overtaking cars *mwah* like please watch it; the brazilian racing gods truly picked a chosen one and his name is lewis hamilton i do not make the rules; his lil’ fist punching the air when he crossed the line says everything you need to know about what that drive meant to lewis (also like that boy was starving for a win around interlagos and to think the first one came only in 2016 jeez) the racing gods really wanted to make that man suffer biblically in true chosen one fashion before offering any type of redemption; you see interlagos and lewis is a special narrative, it’s about a boy achieving immortality in his hero’s homeland, and it goes all the way from 2007 to 2021 and beyond, and there are chapters in between, like 2009, that are worth mentioning, because the man is desperate for a win here and he’s getting so so close, hungry mclaren lewis you mean so much to me, he would eat anything and anyone and well,,,interlagos is lewis’ yearning personified
china 2011 🇨🇳 aka he WILL have his win and he will bite and claw his way towards it
hungry lewis starving for a win with a car that is half-decent is dangerous; this race is *chefs kiss* oh my god, please watch it, baby mclaren lewis on a mission, babes after the race said he doesn’t remember when he last won a race, like wdym it’s only been like 8 months my guy (we’re on two years now); drama starts before the race even begins, because he’s got a fuel problem and is literally mere seconds away from a pit-lane start but no that team and that man were on a mission: three-stopper, overtaking both seb and jb, terrifying race pace! he also gets a bit emotional in the cool down room and hugs seb 🥹
germany 2011 🇩🇪 aka vintage lewis special
another one where you have to watch both quali and the race, because baby goat was pulling quali laps out of his ass (imo probably one of his best non pole laps): he split the bulls and was only half a tenth from pole (also 1.2 secs ahead of his teammate); bear in mind we’re in the domination era of kinky kylie (rb-7) which took 12/19 victories and all but one pole position, which interestingly albeit unsurprisingly went to lewis in korea): that man was putting his entire lewpussy into those quali laps; now the race, ladies and gents (gn) this is where it gets tasty and spicy and if you want a three-car fight for the win this delivers on all fronts and provides lewis at his very best this is it;
a small (but important) tangent: i do find it slightly disappointing when people overlook lewis’ 2011 season entirely because of his getting outscored by jb; yes, it wasn’t a clean season from him, he made a lot of errors in the races and it’s quite a frustrating watch in general as a lewis fan, but he also had some absolutely brilliant races (i also can’t help but point out a similar trend that has happened with his 2022 season);
but anyway, this is lewis vs webber vs fernando, mclaren vs red bull vs ferrari for the entire race; overcut and undercut strategies happening simultaneously, lewis’ racecraft and defence on webber!!!!, and featuring a great overtake on nando!
+ honourable mention: australia 2009 🇦🇺 aka icarus flew too close to the sun
you’re prolly wondering why i’m including australia 2009, which is rather infamously known for ‘liegate’; but lewis’ (and mclaren’s) post-race shenanigans overshadow an actually brilliant drive from p18 to 4th (momentarily 3rd bc trulli got DSQ’d which was then reversed lmao; it’s a bit all over the place) in an actually dogshit mclaren that had no right fighting even for top 5; this is pre-upgrades wheelbarrow mp4-24, this is the stuff that makes the w13 look like a prima ballerina, well guess what lewis was the prima ballerina and was putting that mclaren in positions it really did not deserve to even bear witness to; and then there was a bit of a kerfuffle at the fia office (please read up on liegate it’s acc really funny, mclaren spectacularly shooting themselves in the foot 🙄), someone got fired, lewis disqualified, but oh well, shits and giggles innit (hindsight's a wonderful thing)
hope you enjoyed and i also hope this provided some inspiration for a rewatch :) 💜🏎️

Vote in the other polls!
What fans say:
Atlantis: The Lost Empire:
The whole movie is just top tier good shit. One of the top best underrated Disney movies with a great twist on who is bad. Ahead of its time. Plus Leonard Nimoy as the king???
I love the music, I love the adventure, and Helga Sinclair is an excellent villain. Not to mention such a strong cast.
Legitimately one of the most fascinatingly original animated films ever made, with not only a unique art style, but a cast of incredible and diverse characters all written with genuine heart and personality. I personally memorized what I call "Milo's Rant" for a drama monologue project in high school, and it still stands as one of my favorite scenes in ANY movie to this day.
The art style is amazing and it is one of my favorite stories. It was one of my favorite childhood movies and still is my favorite now. My favorite scene has to be the end fight scene in the volcano, though the "ENGLAND MUST NEVER MIX WITH FRANCE" line from Mole still makes me chuckle.
Megamind:
The memes on that guy! Also very likely one of Tumblr's most iconic movies. There's just great stuff in there and I want to rewatch the damn thing now.
The animation is great, the dialogue is INCREDIBLE, its an utterly fantastic deconstruction of the superhero genre, it is CRIMINALLY underrated, and i love it with every facet of my being (: Also my favorite scene is probably "PRESENTATION!!!" Seriously, i CANNOT overstate how awesome this scene is. Its perfect in SOOOOOO many ways!!!
PRESENTATION!!!!!!!!
An absolute delight of a film, Megamind is funny, subversive and incredibly emotionally resonant. Megamind is a very relatable protagonist and it might be one of the funniest movies I've ever watched. If you haven't seen it, you should.
Every scene is my favourite, it’s a masterpiece of humour and subversion and plot twists, 10-11 year old me didn’t watch it over 20 times in a row for nothing. I’ve had the opening quote written on my mirror since 2013.
PRESENTATION. it has a really good story, plot, characters, themes, and its really funny and i like it very much.

Underrated tips to spice up your writing journey
Hello hello, it's me, Rach!
Today I'm here with a fresh post where, as you can guess from the title, I'll share some (underrated, I think) tips to help you go through your writing journey with ease.
So, let's get started!
People watching: Not in a creepy way :') but we, as authors who write about people and want to create realistic characters, should always be observing everyone around us: perceive how people laugh, go through their daily lives, talk, move, etc. Every little detail is crucial!
Create playlists for everything: I'm quite sus here because I'm obsessed with the art of playlist making. I reallyyyy love to pick songs that make me feel things, but hear me out!!! This will be so helpful to set the mood. Create playlists for your characters (that show their personality, their mood, etc), for your books, and for YOURSELF as a writer, too. Playlists are never too many, trust me.
Don't feel the need to write scene after scene: When I started writing, I thought I needed to write the events as they happen in the story, but later found out it wasn't true! I find it so fun to write whatever comes to my mind and then put everything together. You might even come up with an unexpected scene that you wouldn't think of if you were writing scene after scene!!
You can write everywhere: Well, you don't have to always wait until you get home to continue working on your masterpiece! If you keep all your writing in a synced software, you can take off your phone anytime and write a few paragraphs while you wait for your coffee, for example!
The empty page isn't a monster: You're starting a book... Okay, I've been there... It can be quite scary!!! You stare at the empty page and you're afraid to start with the wrong word, phrase even. But listen, you always have the chance to edit and re-write it later :) the most important step is to get started.
Let your characters take charge: Don't control your babies!! Let them lead the story to places you could never imagine. Let them have their own life, needs, and choices. This sounds crazy because they're the fruit of your imagination, right? But hey, once you see them as real people, you'll start having so much fun, and the events in your book will flow so much easier and they will even feel more realistic.
I really hope this post was somewhat useful! Feel free to reblog or share with someone who might love it as well <3
Also, don't forget to check my gumroad shop, where you can find plenty of FREEBIES (from notion templates for writers to workbooks and sheets).

Happy writing! <3

anyway now I'm going to talk about doctor who for a few hours: single episodes people should watch if they only watched 10 and wanna try some newnewwho
5x7 Amy's Choice: standalone where the doctor and his companions have to choose between reality and a dream world but which is which? peak whimsical 11 era if you like this give the 11th doctor a go
5x10 Vincent and the Doctor: everyone everywhere has suggested this and im sure you've already seen it beautiful beautiful standalone
5x14 (Christmas Special) sci-fi version of A Christmas Carol with flying sharks and opera
6x4 The Doctor's Wife: weird, dark and wonderful standalone penned by Neil Gaiman where the tardis get sucked into a junkyard outside of the universe and weird gaimany shit ensues
6x11 The God Complex: doctor who does the shining with a big religious metaphor and a space minotaur. low budget underrated ep which delves into the flaws of 11th doctor and his choice of a young facade
Series 7 is honestly a bit messy and all requires pre knowledge to understand wtf is going on but 7x12 The Crimson Horror is a campy mark gatiss penned horror romp if you fancy some silly victorian gothic
8x4 Listen: doctor who's most philosophical ep with very few answers, don't watch for the plot watch for the tension and metaphors on fear itself. Odd, ambitious and strange. 12 is abrasive and flawed but if you dig the darker tone s8 is a go to
8x8 The Mummy on the Orient Express. literally an egyptian mummy haunting the orient express IN SPACE. Oddly despite the fantasical premise it's also a great episode to get to grips with this harsher, darker doctor and the complicated relationship he has with Clara. The most 12 of episodes
8x13 Christmas Special: Last Christmas. Great big sci-fi christmas mind fuck that's weirdly emotional and stars nick frost as seemingly... actual santa??
Series 9 is a heavily interlinked series with mainly all double parters so hard to recommend a standalon but...
9x11 Heaven Sent is a masterpiece a single ep starring only Peter Capaldi in mainly monologue as we explore an existential eternal prison. Experimental and strange and deeply rewarding.
10x11 World Enough and Time: The Tardis lands on a huge ship with hundreds of floors. A nearby black hole distorts time so that the lower levels are experiencing centuries of civilisation while the upper floors pass mere seconds. You may struggle to understand what's going on in the wider series plot but this one is gloriously bleak body horror and industrial sci-fi. If you enjoy this go back and watch the season
11x6 Demons of the Punjab: the era of 13 has its issues but god did they go hard on the historicals and politics. A beautiful story about family, identity, loss and the horrors of the partition of India during colonial rule
12x8 The Haunting of Villa Diodati. Again with the historicals. So what really went down during that dreadful summer of 1816 where Mary Shelly writes Frankenstein
The 13th season I.... ??? yeah so anyway

Here's a movie that everybody should watch at least once in their lifetime: Garbage Theory/Űrpiknik. (Tldr at the end)
This movie is an absolute masterpiece, telling the story of a music enthusiast alien and a quote unquote 'troubled' college girl spending a night together in Budapest, searching for the singer Zalatnay Sarolta, meeting a wide cast of people, ranging from a nosy delivery driver to an alien with superpowers, and saving the earth from ultimate destruction.
There is just so much happening in this movie, and it's only a bit over an hour long; there's family drama, befriending dogs, a gay nightclub... everything.
It is also very aesthetically pleasing, the coloured lighting really adds to the atmosphere, and the costume designs are absolutely amazing.
There are some hungarian pop culture references (eg. clips from the movie Cat City are sometimes played, and Zalatnay Sarolta is a famous hungarian singer) but I'm convinced this movie is for literally everyone. There's character developement, sci-fi superpower stuff, humour, angst...
There are definitely some triggering topics involved (such as eating disorders and suicide) and the film also features blood and mildly graphic imagery, so if you're sensitive to any of that, you might want to give this a miss.
But if you're not, the movie's on netflix and hbo with english subtitles, and I can guarantee it will absolutely draw you in.
It's definitely something of an underground thing, a lot of people disregarded it even before the release, saying it was most likely just gonna be the general superhero storyline, however, for me, it was definitely a pleasant surprise.
Tldr: this movie might be slightly disturbing for some viewers, and some jokes might work a little better with hungarian people, but it is truly phenomenal and very, very underrated.

Some sketches with ZigZag The Grand Vizier, Magician and Sorcerer too, voiced by Vincent Price - by director of Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- from The Thief and The Cobbler
The Unfinished Animation Art from Richard Williams, which has a confusing and intriguing story, what making for almost 3 decades. It lost in shadow of Aladdin, because of host's perfectionism - unsuccessful animators left/fired from project, took ideas with them and went another studio. Film was twice remaked and shamefully released, then tragically forgotten in time.
But there's some enthusiast, who calls for profi artists: Garrett Gilchrist is editor of Recobbled Cut - the restoration of this masterpiece, what based on origin Workprint, rough footages and other versions (The Princess and the Cobbler & Arabian Knight)
I really love the bad one! In particular, this criminal brain has a Jafar and Genie vibe at same time, but he is original. For example - Zigzag all time speak with rhymes. After I watched film, few months I just did something and mumbled his quotes to myself for fun! Once they came useful on English lesson! Well, you should see and hear him for yourself..
Here Greatest Underrated Villain of all time

Now this Animation needs worldwide fame and full completion! Teamwork can put some beauty back in the world!
I draw all these in 2022 :D

when the levee breaks: i remember when i first listened to this song, and i was just amazed. the drums are so catchy like??? AH it’s what makes the song so special y’know? and the harmonica parts, the guitar.. THE GUITAR! just fucking beautiful. i also love how it ends haha
the song remains the same: literally a song i can just dance to, it’s so happy and upbeat and my favorite lyric is “california sunlight, sweet calcutta rain, honolulu starbright, the song remains the same…” lol it’s great. this song is a 10283727289/10 😊
heartbreaker: once again, THE riff, that swinging bass, so fucking groovy i love it. and of course the iconic guitar solo in this song, no other instruments, just the guitar.. robert’s vocals are so sexy too HAHA
the rover: one of my favorites off of PG, i love how bonzo’s drums start off the song in the beginning and then jimmy’s guitar just comes in.. fucking magical. the guitar throughout the song is like my favorite thing ever, it sounds so good. i love this song so so so so much 😍
2) white summer/black mountain side, traveling riverside blues, sugar mama, for your life, the crunge
white summer/black mountain side: the danelectro. the fucking danelectro. when jimmy performed this song live at RAH 1970 he just seemed so into it, like he was in some sort of trance almost (i mean he seemed like that for every song he performed LMAO) he put his whole heart and soul into this song, it’s so beautiful like.. the vibes i get from it as well.. it’s very mellow but happy. it’s hard to explain i just really enjoy listening to it
traveling riverside blues: squeeze my lemon till the juice runs down my leg.. squeeze it so hard i fall right out of bed 😂 lol but this is my favorite off of coda, the slide guitar is very catchy and the music video for this song is great haha.. didn’t know it even existed till a while ago, i always have to go back and watch it because of something (not jimmy, not him at all..)
sugar mama: i first heard this song on here actually, someone posted it (forgot who😅) and i remember i couldn’t stop listening to it for a little while, i was obsessed. i haven’t listened to it lately but i should i miss it haha. it’s on coda (deluxe edition) and if you haven’t heard it yet, please give it a listen it’s soooo good and for what? my favorite thing is the drums and guitar, how they just work together, y’know.. it’s great
for your life: is this song even underrated? not sure lol but i like it. i don’t know why, but i love robert’s voice in this.. and jimmy’s lil guitar riff haha
the crunge: gonna be appreciating jonesy a lot in this one.. cause SYNTHS, BASS, HELLO?? perfection. he ate this song up😍 it’s definitely different from any other song they wrote, but that’s why i love it.. it’s so fun to listen to. i cannot get enough of the synths. cannot get enough of bbg’s talented, sexy ass😏 also the ending is funny, “where’s that confounded bridge?” so iconic
3) i apologize this post is so goddamn long but i really wanted to answer this ask lol. but i think im gonna put pictures of my fav jimmy eras in this part
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hot damn.. long haired, princess pagey era. isn’t this everyone’s favorite jimmy era? cause like i cannot with how pretty he looks. he’s got such a sweet, soft face 🥺 ugh my top favorite for sure
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BEARD. BEARD. BEARD.
he looked so sexy with the beard, but also still looked absolutely adorable too at times. i need him LMAO he’s perfect
Tumblr media Tumblr media
erm.. THIS! his hair, jesus christ help me.. he looks so good i could cry 😩 also his face started to mature a bit during this time as well, which made him look EVEN MORE handsome (also.. ass in the last gif)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
75.
do i even need to explain myself here?
long hair is back.. beautiful face.. 🤭
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yardbean jimmy! he’s such a baby i love him i love him i love him i love him 🫶 i wanna just kiss him, n hug him, n hold him ☹️ sweet boy
whew! this was probably the longest post i’ve made ever, especially for an ask.. it’s been an hour LMAO but i hope my explanations were.. understandable, and made sense LOL. thank you @lzep for the ask! love ya❤️

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....Thanks....
hii i appreciate your question ! ✧*。
i've made a list of my favourite characters here. (P.S. THE NUMBERS DON'T INDICATE ANY RANK since i couldn't decide how to rank them :"))
1. kim dokja - omniscient reader's viewpoint
Tumblr media
✧*•彡 one thing about me is that i like smart characters so you'll probably see a lot of those on my list :3 dokja is the love of my life lmao
[constellation cupid with a knife loves this official art]
p.s. if you haven't read the novel yet, i implore you to do so ! it's soooo good !! (the webtoon is also great !)
2. dazai osamu - bungo stray dogs
Tumblr media
✧*•彡 told you- another smart character :") also i love the contrast between the port-mafia-dazai and agency-dazai. Won't give any spoilers but if you haven't watched bungo stray dogs yet, i guarantee it's amazing !
3. maki zenin - jujutsu kaisen
Tumblr media
✧*•彡 i love how jjk has so many strong female characters and maki is surely one of them !
4. hange zoe - attack on titan
Tumblr media
✧*•彡 another strong female character ! also, we gotta appreciate hange for her eccentricity and comedic relief (however limited they were) XD
5. koro sensei - assassination classroom
Tumblr media
✧*•彡 best teacher ever ! i love how he makes sure none of his students feel left out/ignored in class and how he understands each of them individually. as a student myself, i always wished i had a teacher like him :") the entire anime was a roller coaster ride and even though i watched this a long time back, it still brings back memories :")
6. william james moriarty - moriarty the patriot
Tumblr media
✧*•彡 okay, i feel like this is such an underrated masterpiece and people should talk about this more ! william takes the crown for being the mastermind that he is, but every single character is so interesting (and attractive) too xD
7. han sooyoung - omniscient reader's viewpoint
Tumblr media
✧*•彡 another orv character, sorry ! but i cant help but include her on this list. i love her independent nature and how unbothered she can appear to be ! also, LOVE seeing dokja and her bickering like siblings lmao
8. rengoku kyoujiro - demon slayer
Tumblr media
✧*•彡 this guy has no enemies lolol (except maybe the demons). i mean- can anyone dislike him ?? just look at that smile T^T
9. edogawa ranpo - bungo stray dogs
Tumblr media
✧*•彡 i seem to love characters with a deeply contrasting personality (e.g. how he can go from eating snacks cutely at the agency to being such a badass solving crimes and saving the agency every time) he really shone in season 4 and with how things are going in the latest season, i can already tell he's gonna slay all the way heheh
10. armin arlert - attack on titan
Tumblr media
✧*•彡 last but absolutely not the least, we have armin ! he's so adorable and precious T^T another smart character and truth be told, eren and all wouldn't have survived all that much without him
that's it for my list ! hope this was okay <3

2 part question: What Pedro movies/shows have you seen? And if you were to recommend some to a newcomer to the fandom (Pascalorians?) which would you rec? I’m new and want to know what I should watch after watching The Last of Us.
I’ve seen a decent amount of Pedro’s well-known projects so I feel like I can give some recommendations…
So my 18+ recommendations are Narcos, Triple Frontier, Kingsman: The Golden Circle and The Bubble.
Narcos is hands down my favorite Pedro role. His acting is superb and it’s a great show. However it’s very violent and sexual and graphic so it’s definitely an 18+ show. Triple Frontier is an okay movie, but Pedro’s character is great in it so I enjoyed it. Golden Circle is a little cringy, but it’s entertaining. The Bubble is 2 stars at best but Pedro is hilarious and he hardly ever gets comedic roles so it’s fun to watch.
My all age recommendations are The Mandalorian, Prospect, Wonder Woman 1984 and Pedro’s episode of Saturday Night Live.
The Mandalorian is an obvious suggestion but it’s such a good show, every Pedro fan needs to watch it. Prospect is an underrated masterpiece. Super entertaining and Pedro does some great acting in it. Probably one of my favorites. Wonder Woman 1984 is…iffy…but Pedro is the shining star. I mean, he really plays a great villain, so I highly recommend watching it at least once. Saturday Night Live is hilarious and again, Pedro doesn’t get hardly any comedy so definitely a must see.
I’d start with The Mandalorian or Prospect and go from there! Mando is entertaining and will give a little break from the heaviness of TLOU, and Prospect is really cool!

My 9 favourite shows:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are in no particular order but if I had to name my top three it would be Moon Knight, Good Omens and Forever simply for the insane amount of times I‘ve watched each of them (at least four times)
Moon Knight: just the superior mcu show like ever and Moon Knight is such a great character in general I‘m incredibly obsessed (let‘s not talk about my two (2) moon knight cosplays)
Good Omens: do I even need to explain this one?! I don‘t even know how many times I‘ve read the book, but definitely more than I‘ve watched the series
Forever: this show is so underrated and it‘s been nearly ten years and I‘m still mad that it never got more than one season
Avatar:The Last Airbender: this whole show is just a masterpiece
Supernatural: Definitely watched it earlier than I should have and traumatised me for life but it‘s still great (let‘s not talk about the later seasons tho)
Legends of Tomorrow: I just love this bunch of time traveling idiots who just keep messing everything up even more instead of actually fixing things
Young Justice: Can you tell by now that I like superhero shows? Nah just kidding, I just really like this combination of characters and like, dc is actually pretty good at animated shows/movies
Raganrok (the norwegian show on netflix): Norse mythology but translated into a modern day setting?! hell yeah
Umbrella Academy: Uh, superheroes?! I‘m just obsessed with Klaus and with how different this is from any other superhero media (i mean it‘s based on comics by gerard way what do we expect?!)
Tagging: @shadow-of-a-cloud and @neverland-in-space (no pressure of course) and whoever else wants to do this i have no idea who was tagged already :)

i love it that you reblogged the “get to know the blogger” post bc i saw you reblog a lot of “le belle et la bete” gifs and was curious about your general taste/favourite films 👁️👁️
this is going to be so long i'm sorry but i just love talking about it so let's start!
i'm going to highlight some of the movies from my favourites list on letterboxd aka the movies that butter my bun:
— Skyfall (2012) and 1917 (2019) both directed by Sam Mendes are honestly great movies with Skyfall for me being the best Bond movie and 1917 as one of the best war movies. What made 1917 one of my favourites was the watching it at cinema experience plus the reveal in the end is just *chef's kiss*
— Tarantino movies. Like that's it. I know a lot of ppl don't like him but for me he's one of the best writers and sure has his problems but you cannot deny his work is great. Inglorious Basterds for me take the cake as his best movie with Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill: Part I being up there as well. One of his underrated movies is definitely Jackie Brown which I've loved.
— Period dramas. Another one of my fave genres. Emma. (2020) being one of my favourite movies. Emma (2009) is also a great adaptation albeit it is a series. Pride and Prejudice (2005) and (1995) are great as well. Little Women has recently grown on me way more and remains my favourite Greta Gerwig movie. Another underrated movie for me is Ophelia which as the title says focuses more on Ophelia from the play Hamlet. It's really well done and I've enjoyed watching it.
— This one is also a period drama but it is a bollywood movie so I wanted to highlight it. Jodhaa Akbar is a MUST watch such a good movie it's insane like I'm sorry you have a sword fight sequence between two lovers and you have won me over.
— Let's get franchises out of the way. Obviously Marvel movies are some of my favourites with Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Thor: Ragnarok which are in my top 3. Both Black Panther movies and Spider-man: No Way Home are taking honourable mentions. For their series my favourite has been Moon Knight. (Sony gets their cookies for Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse and obviously Venom because come on now eddie and venom are otp y'all don't get it like i do)
— Next big franchise is Star Wars. Original trilogy: Empire Strikes Back. Prequel trilogy: Revenge of the Sith (I'm an Anakin girlie unfortunately) and Sequel trilogy: The Last Jedi (Rian Johnson supremacy). Series: Obi-wan Kenobi (i cried). Honourable mention to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (i also cried).
— Since I mentioned Rian Johnson let's expand on that because the man just gets movies and everyone should watch Looper and Knives Out!!
— Denis Villeneuve. MY MAN!!!! Arrival and Dune *chef's kiss* if you can bear longer movies also Blade Runner 2049 but it isn't one of my favorites exactly because it was long and boring. And since probably someone will say the same for Dune at least Dune has you looking at Oscar Isaac and Timothee Chalamet sure they look miserable but that's when men look the best.
— Spy movies? like idk how to call this but let me list them all. Anna (2019) they succeeded where The Red Sparrow failed like if you're looking for anything similar to Black Widow Anna is the one I would recommend a thousand times. The Nice Guys and The Man From U.N.C.L.E. great comedies I just love them. It's not really a spy but assassin I guess but John Wick franchise is the shit and the best movie is obviously John Wick 2.
— Another director that has me is unfortunately Christopher Nolan. Can I get more basic than that? I do admit his faults and that's sound mixing is fucking awful, I don't understand his movies while I am watching them most of the time and this man cannot write a female character for the life of him BUT 🎶 shapes and colours 🎶. His ideas are what draw me in and it's just visual masterpieces doesn't matter if I can't hear the dialogue if it looks good am I right?
— Smashing musicals and animation together because this is already becoming too long. Singin' In The Rain and The Sound of Music are a MUST watch and also I'm a Phantom of the Opera girlie so if you're going to watch anything watch the 25th anniversary version. I am also unfortunately a Hamilton girlie and the damage to my life caused by that damn musical is irreparable. For animation musical Hercules, The Emperor's New Groove, Anastasia, The Lion King and Tangled and purely animation Howl's Moving Castle, Lilo and Stitch, The Incredibles and Inside Out.
— Now it's time for a quick fire: Ford v Ferrari and Rush are two best movies for my motorsport girlies, Gone Girl and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire for my book girlies, Death at a Funeral and Hot Fuzz for the british comedy girlies, i'm also unfortunately a Titanic girlie probably the movie i've watched most in my life, THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS!!! A. MUST. WATCH. Monty Python movies are great if you ignore some of the outdated jokes. Jackie is one of my favorites just because it's one of Natalie's Portman's best performances and that's also including Black Swan but both movies are also visually stunning.
— The Death of Stalin is one of the best comedies as well. Ready Player One is one of my weirder favourites since many ppl see it as an average movie but i'd recommend it to anyone (literally can't believe it's my favourite Spielberg movie 😭😭). Also add to the video game genre Tron: Legacy because I will also recommend that movie to anyone. The Grand Budapest Hotel is also a must watch like if anyone made the world go through a pink paint shortage before Barbie did then it's this movie and finally The Batman (2022). Let's end on a battinson note just because.
— Crazy to think I haven't even mentioned all of my favourites but I guess this is kinda the jist of it all. Basically my taste is anything as long as I like it I guess jsbsjsbsjs. (I forgot to mention the horror genre but that's just because I don't really have a favourite movie like if I had to say anything it would be The Conjuring movies.)
— As for Le Belle Et La Bête it's one of my new favourites and honestly got me into a french cinema mood so I'll probably find more favourites there. One of my goals has always been to watch more foreign movies but not many have entered my favourites club unfortunately. Also fuck disney live-action remakes (except you cinderella (2015)).

First thoughts on Speak Now (Taylor's Version)
Mine
That first "uh uh uh" 🥺 this song sounds so good; like the 2010 one but so much better.
Sparke Fly
I love that she used a video from tour for the lyric video. 2011 Taylor with her 2023 vocals, quite literally. One of my favourite thing about the rerecordings is how the instrumentals sound a lot clearer. The way she sings "I know it's no good" oh god.
Back To December
I really love the lyric videos. "Then I think about summer all times I watched you laughing from the passanger side" so exceptionally good ugh HER VOCALS.
Speak Now
Underrated bop tbh. The "don't you"!!!
Dear John
Wanted to kms from that first guitar strings. I love that the lyric video is a letter. Idk if I'm imagining but her voice sounds more...haunted (no pun intended) in this version. Of course the high note sounds even better.
Mean
Country bop!!! Another wonderful thing about the rerecording is how better Taylor's gotten at enunciating. She made it to the big old city 🥺.
The Story of Us
A pop punk bop!!! The fact the lyric video's a book wkfkwkf I'm obsessed with the little illustrations!! Again, like the 2010 version but better. NEXT CHAPTER
Never Grow Up
I wasn't emotionally prepared for the way she sings "oh darling" in this. Will I ever be able to listen to this without crying?
Enchanted
A lyrical masterpiece with improved vocals!! This song literally defined my teen years and now I got to listen to it for the first time again. She truly sings "I'm wonderstruck dancing around all along" like a lovestruck teenager. I'm obsessed with the post-bridge breakdown. It sounds like it's literally her thoughts echoing. Using photos from the Speak Now Tour and then changing it up to Eras Tour pictures was soooo mean.
Better Than Revenge
32 years old Taylor telling me to go stand in the corner YESSSSSSS. I love her voice on the opening message. AKFKWKKF HER VOICE IN THE BACKGROUND VOCALS. I don't care about the lyric change! Y'all should move on because there's nothing to do about it. Idk why focus on that one lyric when the best one in the song is the entire second verse like, a lyric genius.
Innocent
Oh god her voice. Can we now admit it's one of her best songs? I hope she rerecorded the song knowing it's okay to still be growing up. That goddamn high note.
Haunted
The fact she sounds actually haunted in this version. VOCALS!!! That squeak on the last "I thought I had you figured out" ...lives were changed.
Last Kiss
Can't believe she somehow made this song even sadder and we just let her. You know when Taylor puts a watch in her lyric video it's gonna be the best song you've ever heard. The "mmmm" before the bridge. SO I'LL WATCH YOUR LIFE IN PICTURES LIKE I USED TO WATCH YOU SLEEP
Long Live
I love that she uses videos from the Speak Now Tour!! Another song that always makes me cry with updated vocals. Her arm lyric reads "She's out there on her own and she's alright." I'M GOING TO SOB
Ours
This used to be my favourite song when I was a kid 🥲. Listening to it again healed something in me tbh. 13 years later and they really couldn't take what's ours.
Superman
This song's my little baby y'all stay away from it. Something in his deep brown eyes has me saying HE'S NOT ALL BAD LIKE HIS REPUTATION. The bridge was always so good and so underrated.
Vault tracks!!
Electric Touch (feat. Fall Out Boy)
I was so hyped for this one. The most important collab she's ever made. I LOVE the production. First date song!! This is like Fearless' older sister. I missed her crush songs kdkfke. Obsessed with her telling the time.
When Emma Falls In Love
Oh a piano song?? This is such a classic Baby Taylor song. "I've got my money on things going badly" -> "when Emma falls in love she calls her mom, jokes about the ways this one could go wrong" "and all the bad boys would be good boys if they only had a chance to love her" -> "I can make the bad guys for the weekend"
I Can See You
I did not expect this. "I can see you up against the wall with me" excuse me??? This song's a reminder Taylor has always been That Girl.
Castles Crumbling (feat. Hayley Williams)
The lyric video's giving "I'd meet you where the spirit meets the bone" literally Nothing New's little sister oh my god what the fuck. This song is a lot quieter and sadder than I expected. Hayley's vocals ekdkekfke GOD. I love it when Taylor uses kingdom metaphors in her songs.
Foolish One
Her voice!!! "You are not the exception" -> "you are the only exception" she will not be the one he loves :// IT'S DELICATE. And "my cards are on the table, yours are in your hand" because she was being honest about her intentions while he was unclear and confusing.
Timeless
Taylor really loves writing songs about her grandparents. What a way to end this album. "Even in a different life you would've been mine"

my short review of each heisei rider season
kuuga: a masterpiece. like nothing the franchise has seen before or since. should be considered one of the great classics of superhero media. invented romance (marriage edition). perfect series no notes
agito: haven’t seen yet. overall impression is that it’s boring and bizarre but the fun cast makes it enjoyable. sasuga inoue.
ryuki: i fucking love ryuki. god i fucking love ryuki. redefined kamen rider. influenced so many other stories. the characters and themes and philosophy... chef kiss. perfect series no notes
faiz: bounces back and forth between extremes of good and bad with shocking dexterity. takumi is one of the best rider protagonists of all time. ending sucks ass. this show inspires in me indescribable emotions and endless complaints
blade: heavily nerfed by the nonsensical writing and bad pacing in the first half, however the second half punts it straight into my top 5 rider seasons. love the soupy murky atmosphere throughout. invented romance (tragic edition)
hibiki: kuuga’s twin flame and mirror opposite. also like nothing the franchise has seen before or since. very soothing “normal things happening to normal people” vibe. watching it makes me stop being a lesbian. criminally underrated
kabuto: complete audacious nonsense from start to finish. generally a fun time seeing what the hell this show will come up with next, except for the parts where you get bored because nothing happening makes sense so who cares. tendou is a very fun protag
den-o: a delightful romp of a show with real deep emotions underpinning it. i don’t think about it as often as i should but it’s really good. very kind and soothing and human. perfect series no notes, just not a personal favorite
kiva: starts out mediocre and gradually devolves into incoherent sexist garbage. the colorful cast of characters almost manage, but ultimately fail, to make it an enjoyable viewing experience. goth aesthetic fucks though. wataru my darling deserves to be in a different show
decade: haven’t seen much of it. watching it makes my brain melt out of my ears (see kabuto) and i don’t think it’s, like, a good show. but there’s emotional substance there. the themes of tsukasa’s character make me ough ough ough
i got tired i’ll do phase 2 tomorrow
