was thinking about how dnp are gonna do their scripts for the wad orange carpet and realised how funny it is that phil, a guy who's known for his positivity, is gonna be co-hosting a show about how everything sucks and we're all going to die. it's probably gonna be a "nihilist joke from dan + positive counter from phil" kind of dynamic the whole way through. and i can't help thinking of the symbolism of that. of the whole thing. obviously it's sweet that dan is sharing the culmination and ending of wad with phil, but when you think about what that implies... phil is the literal counteraction to dan's hopelessness. he has been, throughout dan's adult life. so for him to be the light side balancing out dan's dark at the end of dan's show about how we're all doomed — it's extremely poignant. it's very much like how phil dragged dan back onto the internet and helped him realise he can really enjoy it. he brought dan back to a place that's literally been "deconditioning him of the dystopia". in a way, phil's always been doing that for him. so i wouldn't be surprised if dan having phil beside him for the wad finale is an actual, intentional nod to that. to the role phil has always played in his life and his struggles. and it makes me feel......... a way. yeah
