First, we will start with classics
Tumblr media
Queen Olha was a brilliant strategist and diplomat. She was also ruthless in revenge.
One day, tribe of drevlyany killed her husband, and sent a two delegations to attempt to marry the queen. Why two? First one was buried alive by Olha, and second one was locked out in sauna and burned.
Finally, she asked each household from city that killed her husband to give her three pigeons and two sparrows. Upon achieving birds, Olha tied burning twings to their feet and let them out. Birds returned home and set the houses they were nesting on on fire.
Olha was one of the first people to pick up christianity (for diplomatic purposes). According to legend, she tricked emperor Konstantyn to baptize her in order to avoid marrying him and preserving good relation with Byzantium.
Olha’s politics included regulation of taxation, construction of first stone buildings in all Kyiv Rus, and introduced first administrative units.
In addition to this, she successfully defended Kyiv in siege of 968 protecting it from Pechenegs.
She proceeded to advise her son once he became the king himself, and after passing Olha was canonized as a saint.
Absolute badass. Absolute girlboss.

Here is a Ukrainian woman, Olha Kharlan, an incredible woman and multiple fencing champion, and her prototype Barbie doll. Now she is under pressure and bouts of aggression from the russians for not shaking hands with the russian athlete she defeated, for which she was disqualified.
russians caused genocide - they are allowed to compete
Ukrainian woman whose home was destroyed defeats russian 15:7 - she is disqualified because she did not shake hands with a man who supports the destruction of her people

There are reminiscences of how all it used to be There are hopes for how things shall be We are swiftly carried along by the flow of destiny For we are not titans, we are human beings.
Don't promise for always Don't promise forever Where's your-my tomorrow? In temples the wind is whistling Don't promise, why? Don't promise, don't do that The nearest time is dependent But not always on you.

My beloved city, we will definitely endure💙💛The last few days have been the toughest nights of the entire war. The aggressors have attacked us with missiles and Shaheed. I feel such a mixture of pain and pride for our people.
Tumblr media
Last night,
my niece stayed over,
and when the explosions began,
I hesitated to wake the child.
I sat on the floor next to her bed, prepared to shield her with my body if needed.
The attacks intensified, and eventually,
I had to wake her up.
My dog ❤️ lay at our feet,
we all sat on the floor together,
hoping for God's protection 🙏 and relying on our Ukrainian Air Defense💙💛.
You know, after such nights, my questions are not directed at God, nor at ordinary people, or even the aggressors.
Tumblr media
My one question is for the world leaders: why do you say that we cannot use Western weapons to attack russians territory ?
⭐Do you consider the lives of our people less valuable?
⭐ Have you ever shielded your children with your own body?
⭐Why has everyone forgotten about Kherson, Bucha, Mariupol?
⭐Why isn't the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant equally terrifying?
After such sleepless nights for our children, 💥we have every right to wipe the kremlin off the face of the earth. 💥
I feel the pain for our people, but we are not broken 💪 .
We continue to move forward.
There's still champagne in the fridge that I will open on Victory Day.
I love you, my city❤️you are our fortress, you give us strength🫶

Косів, Івано-Франківська область ❄️❄️ Rare photos of Ukrainian women are stored in the State Archives of Austria. They were made in 1890. Most of the women are dressed in festive outfits. These previously unpublished photos depict women of various ages who lived in the settlements of modern Chernivtsi and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.

Western white men fetishizing Eastern women is an old issue, now some are literally happy because of genocidal war, hoping "they won't be single anymore" because of Ukrainian refugees.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notice how the man even says "girls" and not "women"? Well, see the next photo.

Reposting the screens because the person who originally posted them is a terf but this is fucking important and shouldn't be left to terfs.

Something that shows how cruel and heartless men can actually be is their treatment of women during and after war times, and society as a whole enables them.
Women and children are the primary targets in military conflicts — they‘re seen as property, and both the enemy countries AND the home counties of these women and children view them as livestock and objects they can claim & use however they please.
Whilst men fail to acknowledge that men cause wars and that rich men take advantage of poorer men during these times, they love to complain about how women are "privileged" during war. However, when we take a closer look, the whole picture changes: rape of the enemy‘s women is one of the most prevalent war crimes, and women make up the majority of death victims in post-war times (combat deaths only make up a small percentage of war deaths in total, most deaths are civilians).
Women are "claimed" and therefore abused by soldiers who see them as their enemy‘s property, and not only that — the men from these women‘s home countries commit rape as well, and force pregnancy & childbirth upon them to make up for the losses during military conflicts.
Women are also the ones who keep their home countries going, and have been the ones who re-built them in the past (see Germany after WW2). Just because men believe that women are "inferior" (hence banned them from combat, and the women in the military are often raped by their male peers!) and think that torturing them in their homes instead is a "privilege" doesn’t mean it‘s true.
And societies, whether during or post war, whether part of the conflict or not, usually uphold the belief that women‘s suffering is meaningless, collateral damage if anything, and even put blame on the women for being in the conditions men put them in.
With the Ukrainian/Russian war nowadays, we see once again how the women are victims of war crimes, yet get belittled and harassed for it. For example, you‘ll see how people shame these women for getting pregnant during such times whilst completely disregarding that they don’t have the options to prevent it in the majority of cases. I‘m not saying that every single pregnancy in these times stems from rape, but a massive number of them do. And even those who don’t still happen during a time where these women have no access to appropriate healthcare and protections.
In short …
Woman: *gets reduced to property and livestock, gets abused, raped, forced into pregnancy and childbirth, struggles for survival*
Society: How does she dare to be this irresponsible?!?!!!???? and Look at all those poor men instead, they‘d love to have these privileges!!!!!!!!
That‘s what it basically comes down to.

An update from one of our Ukrainian editors, Olha Brylova. She writes about her experiences as an interpreter at a training center where foreign instructors are teaching Ukrainian soldiers:
Tumblr media
"I spent August in Kharkiv shouting at armed men. No kidding. I literally did that. I was an interpreter for a training center where foreign instructors taught Ukrainian soldiers how to enhance their chances of staying alive while causing more damage to the enemy. There were lots of soldiers, and very much noise, hence shouting. It changed slightly when I was transferred from the infantry group to the sappers. Sappers are a silent bunch. At least until the moment when it's time to blow something up. They also tend toward gallows humor. I think every Ukrainian has developed that sense of humor since February 2022, but sappers take it up to year 11."
You can read the rest of Olha's update on Kickstarter:
