Going to sleep now and I better wake up to the news of '20 days in Mariupol' getting that Oscar or there's no justice in the world.

What Ukrainian movies can you recommend besides Luxembourg, Luxembourg? :)
Слава Україні!
Героям Слава!
If we talk about modern Ukrainian cinema...
My other favourite from the same director is "My Thoughts Are Silent" (Мої думки тихі) I think it's probably a bit more comedic and accessible if you're not Ukrainian? A story about a young man trying to lead his own life and his mother struggling to let him go. Funny and moving at the same time.
There are also dramas, like Pamfir, a lot of people I know like it more than I do.
And, of course, the movie that absolutely broke me - Homeward (Додому/Evge) by Nariman Aliev. A story about two Crimean Tatars, father and son, trying to get the body of their son/brother from Kyiv to be buried in their native Crimea, no matter what. I found this film absolutely devastating, but it's a truly great work, I think.
