Lugdush: Lemme get this straight. [Gestures to Merry and Pippin, tied up and looking on warily] We have to somehow get these Halflings -
Ugluk: Yeah.
Lugdush: From here, back to Isengard?
Ugluk: That's the conundrum.
Lugdush: Whoa.
Ugluk: Yeah, internationally...
Lugdush: Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa, whoa. Slow down, Einstein.
Ugluk: The way I understand it-
Lugdush: Right.
Ugluk: These Halflings have to go from here...
Lugdush: Right.
Ugluk: ...To Isengard...
Lugdush: Absolutely.
Ugluk: [Stretches in frustration] These Halflings are driving me nuts.
Lugdush: [Pulls up a PowerPoint and points to certain points on said PowerPoint...] Okay. Alright, so we diagrammed it, we've got this part clear. We've got this part clear -
Ugluk: Yes.
Lugdush: This is the only fuzzy part -
Ugluk: The middle.
Lugdush: So we're working on the fuzzy middle.
Ugluk: Yeah.
Lugdush: Okay. [Quiet for a moment.] Explain the problem to me again?
Ugluk: [Leans in, motioning to Merry and Pippin] We have to get these Halflings -
Grishnakh: [Comes in, motioning to Merry and Pippin as well] Hey, do you guys know how to get these to Mordor?
[Ugluk and Lugdush sigh and lean over. Cue FedEx announcing that it doesn't have to be this hard.]

Of Orcs and menus
Tumblr media
Of course they have menus, Orcs are highly sophisticated as a people. They speak multiple languages, are weaponsmiths and engineers, and are quite given to the cut and thrust of debate! Except only very literally.
Anyway it’s 20 years this December since Ugluk delivered his immortal line proving a wily grasp of irony.

But they were clear at any rate that Uglúk and his troop came from Isengard, and spoke of Saruman as their master.

I think the most practical choice for which member of the Fellowship should be given a gun is Boromir. Let me explain.
There was already nothing stopping Boromir from killing Frodo; Boromir made that very clear in one of those delightfully unsettling monologues. So if we give him a gun, everything plays out just the same right up until Boromir whips that piece out and gives Ugluk the business. Now Merry and Pippin are much easier to follow and Boromir is still here and can be like "Damn Aragorn I was definitely not my best self today I should send Frodo a card"
The funniest choice tho is Pippin

From "The Two Towers, Chapter 3":
[Grishnakh returns with his troops]
Ugluk: So you've come back? Thought better of it, eh?
Grishnakh: {Motions to Ugluk while facing his folk] This big, foolish ape hates me so much... I'm starting to like him. [This earns some horrified shouts from the Isengarders, curious looks from the Mordor orcs, and Ugluk himself looks ready to play frisbee with his sword.]
Grishnakh: He just... dislikes me so much... it's irresisible!
Ugluk: [To his troops] We're getting out of here. [They take off running.]
Grishnakh: [Watches after him] An Orc who hates me this much, comes along once in a lifetime.
Random Mordor Orc: You're a lucky feller.
Grishnakh: I gotta go after him. [Takes off] Ugluk!

The Ork Soccer Mom, a Better Ork Contact for Shadowrun (1st Edition)
Tumblr media
"General Kenobi!"
Rizz and Art by @skullchicken
To break up the sequence of metahuman archetypes (more of which are still coming), I also got inspired to create some new contacts.
Why does she make such a great contact?
It is stated that:
Ork mothers usually bear four children, but litters of six or eight are not uncommon.
Because let’s face it – being able to juggle the sports schedules and snack preferences and cross-district transportation of Azog, Bolg, Ugluk, Gorbag, Grishnahk, and Li’l Shagrat makes the Ork Soccer Mom’s skills rival that of any shadowrunner.
Tumblr media
"Looks like juice-boxes are back on the menu, boys!"
Her network of fellow rugrat-parents gives her insights that a snitch would die for. Did you know that Fuchi Seattle mid-level manager is going through marital problems and when would be the perfect time to sneak into their flat in Renton? She does.
She knows where every bathroom is in the Renraku Arcology Mall, and a few places where you could slip into the air ducts undetected.
She knows which Stuffer Shacks have which flavors of Sloppy-Soy and which thrill gangs are most likely to rob them.
She does it all, she knows it all, and looks fabulous doing it.

Greetings citizens of the Union and beings from beyond! Welcome to Union News Central, I'm your host Bluglakkag Flublabbak. Hello! This is the recent news! ::3
Tumblr media
The New Libertopia Cultural Fair has begun! Culture is something that's been lacking in the Union, as the Replicants had very little and the uplifted species of the Union had nothing. That being said, the exposure to so many alien cultures on New Libertopia has inspired the habitat's communities to host the New Libertopia Cultural Fair! At this wonderful event, Union species have been expressing themselves in new and interesting ways, and alien species are encouraged to share the beauty of their own cultures.
Headlining the event is the Vegvian clone band Zoryal-Thunn. Opening with the song 'When Moegmar Arrives'.
Tumblr media
The Zoryal-Thunn band members were grown here in the Union as a part of the Vegvian Preservation Project, and once they finished their adjustment cycle, they chose to remain in the Union as citizens.
Their songs revolve around the Vegvian history they studied during their adjustment cycle, and the battles and struggles of the past. Their songs don't celebrate war or violence, instead they honor the dead, sing to inform, and encourage a message of peace. Their iconic instruments catch the eye, repurposing of hard-light axes into musical instruments in a swords-to-ploughshares dramatic flare.
Not far from the concert, the elusive Ugluk artist Bloroworoe Riououeururowuw has set up a stall at the Fair to give some flare to the exoskeletons of Ugluks. Bloroworoe promised that for each decal painted, they'll answer a question about their art.
Tumblr media
The stall also attracted some spectators, including Thylaks, who Bloroworoe encouraged to come in and made it clear that anyone, whether it be synthetic life forms, or organics with an exoskeleton or cybernetics limbs are welcome to be turned into a piece of walking art.
Meanwhile, the Mod community of the New Libertopia Ostess-Sat has promised to set up a stall at the fair soon. They're just gatering supplies, data on the anatomy of alien life, and looking for a space to set up at the moment.
Tumblr media
The Ostess-Sat Modders are a group of Ostess-Sat speeder riders and racers who enjoy cyberneticly modifing themselves. Their passions grew from engineering their speeders to be safer and faster in the Ammonia Sector race tracks, which then moved to the modification of robots for quick repairs of speeders on the tracks in pitstops. And then of course, they began expressing modification in themselves. Hence 'Mods'. ::3
The Feforyans of New Libertopia have set up a presentation of their martial arts slash dance called Pudra. The teachers said they're willing to teach anyone, so long as people treat the art respectfully.
Tumblr media
Pudra originated as an old Feforyan self defence martial art used against cruel Fefings. It developed in the pre-Observer age of post-Nuclear Feforia and in the time since then, its developed into a cultural dance which has a number of different styles depending on the situation and its not restrictive in terms of what someone can do with the amount of limbs the practioners may or may not have. This is in part due to the recent mutations which turned Feforyan legs into a fused tail, but it's also partly because of the many alien races Feforyans have encountered.
Lastly, the Replicants have set up a stall displaying the new lifeforms engineered for Feforia, animals that have been spliced from a number of different creatures that can withstand the planet's toxic atmosphere.
Tumblr media
They explained how each critter is being crafted to be beautiful and unique in their eyes, even if some found the creations to be disturbing, none can deny its an impressive show of scientific mastery and biological artistry.
Well, that's all the major attractions of the New Libertopia Cultural Fair so far! I know I said 'lastly' with the Replicant event, but the Fair is still only on its first day, and you expect many more additions from our other alien residents soon! If you find yourself in New Libertopia in the coming weeks, be sure to visit these and other attractions and enjoy yourselves!
This is Bluglakkag Flublabbak saying thanks for tuning in to our signal here at UNC. Be sure to bookmark our wavelength for future updates.
Solace in the Union.

The Ministry of Science can confirm that the excavation and study of the alien artifacts on Polridus III has begun in earnest! So far, fifty scientists from the Republic and @phlaalu are on hand and beginning their studies of the cairns.
We've had word from our friends the @union-replicants - they are sending an Ugluk scientist, well versed in archaeological research along with an Ostess-Sat assistant, to aid in our expedition. We're excited to welcome the Union on their first joint mission with us in the name of research and discovery!
Tumblr media
Other allies are still welcome, of course! A gentle reminder, however - the surface of Polridus III is toxic to most life forms, so environment suits are necessary. Our team has extras for all species on hand, though!

Orktober continues, with slight pictoral gaps because things look the same after they're varnished, and I took two days to build a whole bunch of stuff to take advantage of a good spraying day.
This is Mauhur and his (not quite full) warband of Mauhur's Marauders. Still needs an ink wash and some Saurmanic accents (and basing), but they'll be done soon. Not quite enough to meet my Orktober quota, but I've still got two warbands left (Vrasku's and Ugluk's, with ~10 scouts each), to say nothing of actual 40K orks (Burna Boyz), Mordor orcs (for Ugluk's Scouts), and Warg Riders.
And then I can begin the wintermas miniature production.
