HI I AM RETURNING YOUR ASK!!!
fav fighters and why??????? go into so much detail tell me everything i am a preteen girl laying on her stomach swinging my legs :))
*cracks knuckles disgustingly* sorry this is gonna be really long and formatted like a buzzfeed article pls brace yourself and get a nice hot drink to sip on
el cucuy: lean, a little bit mean, definitely screams
Tumblr media
(tuf 13 finale)
i first discovered tony through the ultimate fighter compilations and i instantly related to him because i’m also a non-white kid who grew up in a country ass town of fuckville, nowhere and got teased by my white classmates for it. clearly he had a rough childhood but i like to think that everything he’s been through has made him a stronger and wittier fighter. i unironically consider him one of the toughest and smartest in the game--which is weird because most people are chomping at the bit to call him stupid or cringe, but i stand by it!!
Tumblr media
(tony OBLITERATING michael at the ufc 262 pre-fight press conference)
obvi his fighting style is super exciting to watch too. his spinning shit is top tier and i love that he has this edgy yet fun-loving personality where like. he’ll rip a guy’s arm off but he’ll do it with a smile on his face lol. it’s just very endearing to me for some reason.
Tumblr media
(ufc 229: tony ferguson vs. anthony pettis)
also: least important of all the points but he's soo funny and i feel like if he were my age i'd just be in love with him?? i'm just so drawn to bizarre and lighthearted people LOL he's so friggin cute.
Tumblr media
(ufc 216 embedded: vlog series - episode 4)
nick diaz
Tumblr media
(elitexc: nick diaz vs mike aina)
my emo boy, my cesar gracie jiu jitsu black belt, my one and only (jk he would never) nick diaz!! now i’m not gonna lie it’s a lot harder for me to squeal about nick because he’s said multiple times that he doesn’t like fighting; it’s just what he does. the list of things he actually seems to care about include his family (most notably nate),
Tumblr media
(ufc 266: espn interview with brett okamoto)
doing triathlons, and teaching jiu-jitsu and it tears me up inside that he fights because he feels pressured by the ufc and the fans. he’s even said multiple times that he started fighting to protect himself from other kids when he was in high school.
i feel conflicted because his “you-gotta-do-what-you-gotta-do” attitude is the reason why i love him so much, but it’s the same reason he keeps fighting (and suffering while ufc executives make money off of him)….
Tumblr media
(ufc 47: backstage interview)
i guess the most appropriate thing i can fangirl about is his almost childlike bluntness and how much he hates the fame and the press. apparently he once rejected a sponsorship deal (that probably would have made him a lot of money) because he thought the product was ‘the stupidest fucking thing he'd ever seen in his life’. he also straight up said at a press conference for him vs. gsp that the ufc was "selling wolf-tickets" (aka lying to hype up the fight) like… RIGHT in front of dana lmao
if it were like the early 2000s i would definitely go on about how hot and fine he is, but given that he’s past his prime (through no fault of his own, he had 5 years of his career stolen from nsac for smoking weed) and signed to a fight promotion that doesn’t care about him, all i want is for him to retire peacefully and to be able to do what he wants :(
Tumblr media
(dream 3: nick diaz vs katsuya inoue. hehe look at him bowing)
whenever people talk about nick’s fighting style, they always default to "he's got an iron chin, he's got endurance, and he talks a lot of shit" but he's also a jiu-jitsu practitioner who can be very respectful? he helps opponents up after fights (lifted frank shamrock from his feet and called him a legend) and even expresses remorse when he seriously hurts them (accidentally dislocated joe hurley's arm, immediately released him, and couldn't stop checking on him even though he just won) and like. idk. it makes me mad. he's actually so intelligent and polite and i wish more people would focus on that..
the highlight: an mma fighter for jesse pinkman enjoyers
Tumblr media
(ufc fight night 135: pre-fight interview)
LOL obvious answer incoming. it’s justin gaethje!! now out of all the fighters i like, i think my love for him might be the most superficial 😭 i just find his face and body and whole demeanour so cuuute like?? his red hair? his big blue eyes? his cute little lip scar that he got from a headbutt (of course he did)? the fact that he seems so incredibly one-brain-celled almost every time he speaks? gaethje is a cage fighter with the bone density of a gorilla, but uhhh he's also kind of.... babey.
Tumblr media
(wsof 34: justin gaethje vs. luiz firmino ROLLING THUNDERR WOOOOO!!!!!!)
but ofc the most important thing about a fighter is their fighting!! my favourite thing about gaethje’s style, weirdly enough, is how light and bouncy he is. i can’t think off the top of my head of any other fighters that have this weird quality?? it's how he’s able to apply lots of pressure on his opponents but also spin super-fast like a top whenever he needs to; like in the middle of a fight he'll go from kicking legs like he's 200 pounds to doing spinning shit like he's 125. idk it's crazy, i don't know how it works and i probably never will, but i just find that really fascinating
Tumblr media
(ufc 209 embedded: vlog series - episode 3)
aand thats it!! phew you're finally free lol. i do love the other lightweights and some of the welter/middle/heavyweights but these three are my absolute favs so far! granted i've only watched like a portion of the ufc archive and i've yet to really explore anything else like one or bellator even though i really should--not to mention all the current ufc happenings. i'm pretty out of the loop but uhh you know i'm just a girl watching some cage fights and that's it really <3
anyways i hope you had fun reading this :> agghghhgh thank you for asking me back WOO

The Best UFC Contenders for Islam Makhachev Next Fight
Whether you're a fan of UFC fighters or not, you've probably heard a few things about Islam Makhachev. He's one of the best UFC contenders out there, and his next fight is right around the corner. Here are some of the things you need to know about him.
Alexander Volkanovski
Whether you are a fan of MMA or not, you are probably familiar with the title fight at UFC 280. It was a crazy event, with two title fights and a lot of questionable scoring. But the winner was crowned lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev. Now, we are about to find out how the winner performs against the best pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC.
The new lightweight champ is now a big favorite for his first title defense against a 145-pound king. In fact, the UFC has ranked him as the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
He has a 11-fight winning streak and has finished five of his last six opponents. The only losses are to Kamaru Usman and Max Holloway.
He has won four straight fights, two by submission, and has never been taken down in the UFC. He is one of the most gifted strikers in the UFC and has a great head movement.
He has also shown excellent footwork. His takedown defense is also top-notch. He is a remarkably difficult submitter and has a great way of getting back up to his feet when he's controlled.
Charles Oliveira
Earlier this year, Charles Oliveira had was stripped of his lightweight title. His loss marked the first time he had failed to make the 155-pound limit in a UFC fight. The next step for Oliveira was to move up to featherweight. He failed to make weight for his fight with Justin Gaethje. The fight ended in a submission.
Oliveira is a 32-year-old male fighter from Brazil. He started out in the UFC as a lightweight. He lost his first fight before winning his next 11 fights. His most recent win was a first-round submission against Justin Gaethje at UFC 274.
Islam Makhachev, 31, is a Russian fighter. He has been the fastest-rising fighter in the lightweight division. He won the UFC lightweight title last year. He is a close friend of Khabib Nurmagomedov. He is also considered a legitimate heir apparent to Nurmagomedov. Makhachev has won 10 straight bouts.
The two men have different styles. Oliveira combines heavy-force striking with a Chute Boxe style. He also has an outstanding submission game. He has an excellent leg reach advantage over Makhachev. He is also a highly hittable fighter, especially in the pocket.
Beneil Dariush
Despite his current seven-fight winning streak, Beneil Dariush isn't exactly a household name. He's not as rich as Conor McGregor, and his place in the lightweight division isn't quite as high as it was in the past. However, he's a rising contender and one of the most promising men in the 155-pound division.
After a nine-month layoff following his unanimous decision win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 262, Dariush returned to action last year. He fought Mateusz Gamrot on the main card of UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi. Dariush won the fight by decision and was awarded the main event fight bonus.
Despite a recent injury, Dariush hopes to make a return to the Octagon soon. He aims to fight former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 284 in February of next year.
While the MMA world is still split on who deserves to fight for the lightweight title at UFC 280, the UFC has matched two of the best lightweight contenders to battle it out. The winner of this fight will receive a title shot in 2022.
Dustin Poirier
Despite a recent loss to Charles Oliveira, Dustin Poirier is still one of the top lightweights on the UFC roster. After all, he beat Conor McGregor twice in one year, won a lightweight title, and he has also faced some of the best in the division.
Dustin Poirier is one of the most popular and bankable stars in the UFC. His last fight, against Michael Chandler, was highly entertaining and featured a bit of reckless abandon in the first round. He flipped a switch in the third and finished off the bout with a rear naked choke and a submission.
Poirier has not yet decided on the next fight, but he may have found the perfect opponent for him. His next opponent is likely to be Mike Chandler. Having recently defeated both Rafael dos Anjos and Tony Ferguson, Chandler may be ready for a title shot.
There is a lot of debate about who is the best lightweight in the UFC. The question is who is the most deserving. The answer could lie in a bout between Dustin Poirier and Beneil Dariush. Dariush recently won an eight-fight winning streak, and he also has a win over Mateusz Gamrot.
Justin Gaethje
Having lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov in a highly controversial UFC 254 main event, Justin Gaethje was looking for a second chance at claiming the UFC lightweight title. Now, he's awaiting the winner of Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier's upcoming fight.
In the meantime, Gaethje has been able to stay active by stepping into the Octagon. He most recently headlined UFC 274 in May.
In his last bout, Gaethje fought former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira. Oliveira won the fight convincingly. But Oliveira had missed weight before the fight.
Makhachev, on the other hand, is riding a 10-fight win streak and has been rumored to be the heir apparent to Khabib Nurmagomedov. The two men match up well and are considered the best lightweights in the sport.
In the past, Gaethje has fought Dustin Poirier, Michael Chandler, and Dan Hooker. All three of these fighters have lost to Gaethje. But the former Bellator MMA champion has bounced back in his most recent bout against Tony Ferguson.
The UFC lightweight division is considered one of the deepest in the sport. Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier are both ranked in the top five. They meet in December.
Beneil Dariush
Whether or not Islam Makhachev will have a shot at the UFC lightweight title remains to be seen, but it is clear that one of the best contenders for Islam Makhachev Next Fight is Beneil Dariush. After his recent win over Mateusz Gamrot, the 27-year-old Placentia lightweight is one of the top contenders in the lightweight division.
It is true that Dariush is currently ranked as the sixth-best lightweight in the UFC, and he has also won eight straight fights. His most recent fight was against Tony Ferguson at UFC 262 in May of last year, and he has been a staple of Kings MMA.
Despite his impressive win streak, Dariush is still upset that he wasn't given a title shot. He felt that he was a worthy lightweight contender and should have been given the opportunity to challenge Dustin Poirier or Michael Chandler for the lightweight championship. But, he feels that promotion is intentionally keeping him out of the title race.
As a result, Dariush is hoping that he can finally get his chance to face former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 284. A win over Oliveira would have put Dariush in great position to challenge for the lightweight title in 2022.
Michael Chandler
Whether Islam Makhachev beats Michael Chandler in the next fight is still a mystery. It's not clear whether Chandler would be given another title shot if he wins. In any event, this is a huge fight that will define the future of the featherweight division.
Islam Makhachev is currently preparing for his biggest fight of his career. He'll battle former champion Charles Oliveira in a battle for the vacant lightweight title at UFC 280 on October 22.
Chandler has been on a 2-2-UFC run since debuting last year. His first win came in a KO victory over Dan Hooker. He then fought Justin Gaethje at UFC 268 in November. He then lost to Oliveira in May of the same year.
Michael Chandler was not considering a contender before his KO win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 262. He's still searching for his next title shot. If he wins against Dustin Poirier, then he could potentially leapfrog Volkanovski and secure one last title shot.
In the meantime, Islam Makhachev has been winning, going 10-for-10 since debuting in the UFC. He's also beaten Dan Hooker and Bobby Green. He's a man who can go on the offensive on the ground and on the feet. He is also the heir apparent to Khabib Nurmagomedov, who reigned supreme for years.
Rafael Fiziev
Regardless of whether you are a fan of the UFC or not, you are likely familiar with Islam Makhachev. He is the longtime lightweight heir apparent to Khabib Nurmagomedov. In fact, he recently defeated Charles Oliveira in a lightweight contest that was a big win for the lightweight division.
The UFC has yet to announce a fight for Fiziev but he is a likely contender for the next major lightweight title fight. He is the kind of fighter that UFC president Dana White has praised for his striking prowess. In fact, he has been said to be a worthy contender to Conor McGregor. He is also a fan favorite.
According to MMA aficionados, Makhachev's next fight could be a rematch with Rafael dos Anjos, who he defeated at UFC Vegas 58. The two could also move up to the lightweight title fight. The winner could headline the UFC's International Fight Week in the summer of 2023. He could also face Alexander Volkanovski. Regardless of which fight comes next, Makhachev will certainly be a candidate for the next big lightweight title fight.

You have to speak some language everybody understands. English is important if you want to make money. “He tried to make money, but this guy doesn’t speak English. I don’t understand this guy,” Makhachev said. When told by the show’s co-host and training partner Daniel Cormier that money is important, Makhachev mocked Oliveira for his inability to speak English which he thinks is hindering his marketability. But the UFC told him, ‘Hey, if you (don’t) take this fight, we’re going to give some chance to Michael Chandler.’ That’s why he take this fight.” “He said, ‘Islam has to fight one more time,’ or something like this. 4.5m Followers, 789 Following, 7,490 Posts - See Instagram photos and videos from Charles Oliveira (charlesdobronxs) charlesdobronxs. According to Makhachev, the UFC was going to give him Chandler had Oliveira not accepted the fight.
