synopsis: after a long day at work, you thought it’d be a good idea to spoil tzuyu in the comforts of your home.

the door to your homey loft apartment welcomed you with your tired stature, as you walked in swaddled with thick clothes to help combat the harsh cold, peeling off one layer at a time until almost everything was off except your dress shirt on your upper body.

you placed your overcoat, sweater, and scarf on the studio chair in the living room as you sat on the couch, relaxing after a tiring day of labor finishing up a project planning phase that was ahead of schedule, so your boss felix decided it was a good idea to have everyone leave early which was a really good thing.

huffing out and softly groaning as you slid into the couch more, you felt a buzz from the back pocket of your pants and fished out your phone to see who texted you.

miss you more, the place feels empty without you

you toss your phone off to the side as you reposition yourself, laying down on the couch as you place your head on one of the pillows that still had a few remnants of tzuyu’s rose scented perfume from watching movies the other night as you breathed deeply becoming one with the couch, letting the urge to sleep slowly take over your body.

twenty or so minutes had passed and you hear a faint vibration under your pillow, you grab under to silence your alarm (which is what you assumed since you didn’t remember setting an alarm for your nap at all) only to find out that it was a call from tzuyu from looking at your squinted eyes, so in less than a millisecond, you answered it.

“hi tzu tzu.” you greet, mouth curling to a derpy smile as you hear a very small gasp on the other end, as tzuyu had you on speaker to showcase the softness in your voice that she’ll never get tired of hearing after two years of being with you.

“hi baby, were you napping?”

“i was before you called, but i’m awake now.” you respond, lightly straining your voice as you stretch, waking up your body now from its much needed power slumber.

“i’m still with shuhua, we’re helping her prepare a surprise present for minnie’s birthday tomorrow.”

“we should be almost done! tzu can you hand me the scissors behind you?” you hear shuhua in the background, tzuyu’s friend from college who had helped her land a job with the modeling agency she was currently working at. you laugh at shuhua’s act as you sat up on the couch again.

“i take that shuhua drove you?” you ask, tzuyu shuffling around on the phone to a more quiet area in the house.

“yeah, she offered to take me but we’ll leave in a bit if shuhua gets everything together.” she responds as you lightly chuckle, “we might do one more thing before she changes her mind again.” tzuyu added on.

“it’s okay, we don’t have plans for the weekend so take as much time as you need.” you say, getting up to turn on the lights of the kitchen and dining room. “i gotta take care of something really quick, so see you here soon?”

tzuyu hums through the phone, “yes babe, i’ll let you do your thing now. i love you.”

“i love you too, bye.”

you ended the call and placed your phone on the countertop, unbuttoning two buttons and rolling up both sleeves of your dress shirt before grabbing a pan from the cabinet and placing it on the stove.

“now let’s get to work, shall we?”

tzuyu walks along the long corridor of doors with a brisk pace to make up for the seconds lost by not using the elevator which was undergoing maintenance, her four inch heels echoing in the hallway’s poor acoustics with every step taken before she finally reaches the second to last door on the left–finally home after a busy day.

but before tzuyu could type on the touchscreen of the security lock to open the door, she hears a faint tune of a song filling up the apartment and she knew you’d be playing one thing–jazz–as she seamlessly entered the passcode, opening the door, and walks in; the song playing on the vinyl player set next to the tv in the living room getting a lot more louder once tzuyu was fully inside.

as she took off her heels and placing her bags on the floor, tzuyu then sees you walking around the dining table, a covered dish in your hands as you placed it on the table, her eyes light up at the first seconds of your appearance, and then the aroma of food fills her nostrils.

“oh! you’re here?” you ask as you approach tzuyu, giving her a couple of quick kisses while hugging her.

“traffic on the way back, sorry i took long.”

you shake your head in disagreement as you helped your girlfriend take off the long overcoat and hung it on the abstract coat hanger you found when you and tzuyu went antique shopping a while back, it was nothing too crazy, but she knew that you always had a thing for art–hence why the shared apartment you and her were living appeared to be a makeshift art museum, curated over time even before you two got together.

“what’s all this?”

“a little something something that i put together last minute.” you beam. “now come on, it’s dinner anyway.” grinning as pull her wrist as you show her the table you set up.

the dining table was transformed into one of those high end michelin star restaurants sprinkled with a dash of the 1800s royalty core. on top of the white cover on the table were two old fashioned candles with the plating and silverware neatly organized. there were a few side dishes of yours and tzuyu’s favorite snacks spread out evenly on the table. in addition to that there was a small iron bucket housing two bottles of red wine with two glasses sitting next to it. you were pretty impressed with yourself and how you managed to get everything set together in under an hour (should be considered a record time if she gave you less than thirty minutes.) as you motion tzuyu towards her seat.

“just right this way ma’am the food will be here shortly.” you said as you pulled the seat out for tzuyu to sit, giving a soft laugh as she sat down and adjusted herself.

“i will also be your waiter for tonight, would there be anything you want as an appetizer?”

tzuyu ponders for a second, “i think i’ll have you as my appetizer.” putting a finger to your chest with a sly grin on her face.

you pull your head slightly back at her remark, “i believe that’s not on the menu i’m afraid, but i’ll make an exception just for you.”

“you’re so enticing.”

“i think the best things are saved for dessert.” you say lowly as you lean in for a peck to her jaw, “but let’s enjoy our dinner first.”

picking up on the sound of your alarm in the kitchen, you stand back up and grab a hand cloth on the table, draping it over your forearm while placing your other arm behind your back.

“that would be the main course, excuse me for a moment.” you say as you briskly walk to the kitchen as tzuyu laughs at you. shuffling through the kitchen for a few seconds, you then return with a slightly large bowl with a cover on top, remnants of the smoke still emerging as you place it the middle of the table, pulling the cover as it revealed a simple pork tonkatsu ramen–tzuyu’s favorite as she gasps in shock, clapping her hands at your perfected cooking craft.

“i also forgot one more thing, be right back.” you said as you dashed back to the kitchen to grab a small cutting board with a loaf of toasted garlic bread, the first three slices already out for a proper presentation.

“why’d you do all this?”

“well it’s been a while since we had a date night, so i thought it would be a good idea to just have it at home.” you said smiling as you sat yourself down adjacent from tzuyu.

tzuyu tilts her head in, admired by your effort as she grabs your hand. “it’s so nice to have a personal chef in the relationship.”

“everyone needs a hobby.” you reply, placing the hand cloth from your arm onto your lap. “you must be starving, let's eat!”

tzuyu nods as she grabs her pair of chopsticks and begins to mix the large bowl of homemade ramen, placing it in the small ladle and slurping up the mixture of soup and noodles, humming out loudly as an indication that it was good as she savors the taste a bit longer.

you then fish out one of the pieces of pork from the bowl, leaning over and pouting your lips to tzuyu as she knows what you were doing, opening her mouth again as you feed her. taste buds exploding as the tender piece of pork dissolved in a few bites.

“this is amazing.” she says as you pour her a glass of red wine for her to drink.

the dining table was filled with the conversation of events that had occur in you and tzuyu’s work day as both of you continuously ate through the small courses of food and side dishes, filling in on the things that were worth talking about. you talked about how felix did a team bonding exercise where you had to accomplish cooking something where one person was blindfolded, another person not able to hear, and the third person not being able to talk. it was tedious but a fun activity nonetheless. tzuyu mentioned that she has a photoshoot for one of her friend’s small business that sells minimal gym apparel and how she’ll get exclusive access to certain clothing items for you and her to keep.

after finishing most of the food, tzuyu starts to get up with her empty bowl in her hand.

“oh don’t worry about cleaning, i’ll take care of it.”

“are you sure? i feel like i should do something since you did all the cooking and setting up.”

“tzu it’s fine.” you say pulling her in for a loving embrace, tzuyu’s lips finding your neck leaving you breathless.

“there is one last thing before we can do all that.” you say, walking over to the vinyl record player to flip the vinyl to the other side, playing a mellow tune of both the piano and bass.

walking back in front of tzuyu, you do a curtsy bow with your hand out as an offering.

“may i have this dance with you?”

tzuyu slightly cringes at your cliche move, but accepts your offer, “yes i would love to.”

taking her hand in yours, planting your other arm around her waist pulling you closer as you slowly danced in the living room, the lights having the perfect timing as they faintly dimmed, setting the mood as you two held each other.

“isn’t this nat king cole?”

“how’d you know?” you asked in surprise to tzuyu’s knowledge of your jazz repertoire.

“i saw you pick out a vinyl record from him when we went out last week. it’s a cute song you picked and i love it.” tzuyu admits to you as you give a pouted expression to her, earning a laugh as you lightly kiss her cheeks.

“this song makes me feel better whenever i get stressed out with anything.” you explained as you held tzuyu even tighter, “i’m glad you love it as much as i do.”

tzuyu then tiptoes a bit to brush your lips as you continue to slow dance with the song gently echoing behind you,
