Page 6. ---- In connection with the dispute between the employing job printers of Winnipeg and their employes, now before the joint council of Industry, Charles Ryan, of the Typographical Union, has issued the following communication: 

"H. E. Wilder, the president of the Typothetae, quotes part of its constitution to prove that while they are at perfect liberty to draw up a scale of prices and working conditions which they know are impossible of acceptance by the unions, Just as soon as they have accomplished this much they can quit and leave it to someone else to try and straighten matters out. 

"Neither the Typothetae nor any association has any moral right to start negotiations If they do not intend to finish them. The statements from the Typothetae keep on getting wilder, and it is futile to attempt to understand them.”

Need a Typesetter

Hello All I'm looking for a typesetter for Tonari no Hyakkai Kenbunroku. Our current typesetters are busy working on other projects and I would love to have a typesetter dedicated to just working on this project like the others have. This is one of our non-BL project. Some of the chapters are kinda thick but the art is awesome and the story is very interesting. This one is more text bubble/box leaning but it does have some dynamic sfx that would be fun to work with. If your interested in working on the project just send me a DM please!

Our Typesetter is making some big moves soon! We couldn't be more happy for them, but we're also going to miss them a lot. They're irreplaceable! They've said they hope we'll continue and we're going to do our best but we need a new team member. ٩(｡•́‿•̀｡)۶🍬🍬

So we're recruiting! Ideally, the new person would start in late January/early February. We're looking for someone who likes this manga as much as we do (a lot.), has a bit of experience playing in Photoshop or similar, has a few fonts and tricks up their sleeve, and is a good communicator.

We're a team of working adults, now three, located on both coasts. We're open to working with an overseas teammate as long as the person has those sweet sweet communication skills.

We'd appreciate you doing a short test, just a panel or two, and having a little chat to see what your availability is like. these podcast episodes were sooooo amazing for my newsies special interest btw and i highly reccomend them for anyone interested in historical context on the strike that isn't usually covered elsewhere!! there's a bunch of stuff i learned here that i never encountered in trying to read about the historical context, including stuff that the movie/musical obviously DID draw on that i've just never seen mentioned anywhere else!!

and imo thats very much because these episodes have NOTHING to do with the movie/musical and are entirely from a labor history perspective (and as a result there are a few things mentioned about the musical that the host gets WILDLY wrong but its very much not the point lol). and this was put out around the start of the writers strike as a way to sort of compare the two of them and overall i just think its really cool to look at what this strike actually looked like in this larger context of organized labor and stuff

the funniest side effect of working with nerd stuff is running into a selfshippers with f/os from titles i'm working with. one could think that it won't happen to me since majority of our titles aren't that mainstream - but it did, a few times even.
